Speaker 1 (00:02):
Welcome back to the Football Today podcast, brought to you
by Betfair, who are on your side this EBL season.
I'm your host, Leah McCallan, also known as the Stats Guy,
not joined by Marcus Barzan Over. Alex wants to rant
about Arsenal. He hasn't talked about Arsenal in a long time.
Hey you going Alex up, Donny.
Speaker 2 (00:17):
I've actually got nothing to rant about it. It's just like, yeah,
you've just called me up off the bench pre Christmas.
I said I'm free and available, and you've just absolutely
taken advantage of my good natured stats guy.
Speaker 1 (00:27):
Yeah, well you usually do that when you're hosting some
of our shows, lots about different shows that we have.
Speaker 2 (00:31):
So I was like, oh, take advantage of that and.
Speaker 1 (00:33):
Get you on talk about Arsenal, to talk about everything
to talk about there is a lot.
Speaker 3 (00:37):
To talk about it.
Speaker 2 (00:37):
I'm just looking at the round the ground says a
bloody few.
Speaker 3 (00:39):
Things in that.
Speaker 1 (00:40):
Yeah, we're here for all things English, Premier League as
always with this period through December where literally this football
almost every single day. You've got champions that, you've got
Premier League, you've got.
Speaker 2 (00:49):
League Cup quarterfinals tomorrow Thursday, Friday, the cup rolls in
eight to look as an Arsenal fan and also for
you with Chelsea. Yes, games of football every four days
from basically the started to send but all the way
through to February it's.
Speaker 1 (01:02):
We're not getting yeah much sleep. I don't reckon to
do this, Mone you got so much sport on it's awesome.
Today we're going to cover the top world football and
EPL news, the best Betfair back or lay bets for
EPL match Week seventeen. That includes expert tips from Betfair's
own Tony Hargreaves, or as Marcu's used to call him,
tea dog. I don't I don't know why he always
kills him that match of the week. So the match
of the week this week is Tottenhavst Liverpool. There was
(01:23):
a few good matches, but I think that would be
a bit of fun. And then we're always going to
finish off with the quick fire tips for the Premier
League this weekend. Before we start, make sure you subscribe
to our YouTube channel of the Football Today podcast. Follow
all the socials Football Today a You on TikTok and
Football Today Australia on Facebook and Instagram. All right, next, one.
Let's get into it around the grounds, Alex, I'll start
(01:44):
us off. Arsenal drop points for the second straight game.
I just don't know if there's enough finishing in attack.
There nil all to evidence.
Speaker 2 (01:51):
Finishing an attack. No team has scored more goals in
twenty twenty four than Arsenal. Yeah, ever, we're in a
new season. We're in No team has scored more goals
in the calendar year than Arsenal. This is a team
who scored three goals against Monaco during the week as well. Yeah,
we scored two goals from set pieces against Manchester United
and then obviously had that goal ruled out against Fulham.
(02:13):
But it wasn't a lack of finishing. It was the
build up that was bad. It was the ah, yeah,
we'll give the ball to Soaker and hope he builds
up and then Martin Nelli is sitting on a wing
not doing much. It was the build up. It was slow,
it was robotic. It's lost that chaotic nature that they
had two years ago when this Arsenal run started. I
(02:34):
think it's more Arteta has just been I think there
was the defeat to Porto the start of the year
when they were away they lost like the last two
minutes trying to win the game, and I think it's
that Arteta is like, we are not going to concede.
But it's like, look at Liverpool. They found ten men
and they're just like best form of defense is attacked
at Arsenal's best. We've seen them. They can blitz teams
in ten to fifteen minutes. Absolutely, oder Gard, you have
(02:56):
scored twice, as simple as that. And Evan just went
now we're going to dig in. And Jordan Pickford had
an amazing game. So yeah, you're throwing those things together
in a midweek game on the back of more midweek
games previously sluggish performance.
Speaker 1 (03:10):
Yeah, I thought you would be a little bit more fial.
You're actually pretty calm. I know it's early in the season, but.
Speaker 2 (03:16):
Frustrating that we drew when Liverpool had drawn.
Speaker 1 (03:19):
That's the main taking a jump. That's yeah, exactly right.
Another one around the grounds. Garry O'Neil and Russell Martin
both sacked. Honestly, they've had it coming, like you can't
keep losing game, especially Russell Martin.
Speaker 3 (03:31):
I think what are they now?
Speaker 2 (03:33):
Obviously last they are lower on points right now than
when Darby County were at the exact same point in
their record low seas.
Speaker 3 (03:39):
I feel like we talk about this every season.
Speaker 1 (03:41):
Who's going to be like, yeah, last time, can they
beat Darby County's worst ever record.
Speaker 2 (03:46):
The new manager is going to come in and they're
not going to play like Russell Martin. The problem with
Russell Martin is he saw Vincent Company at Burnley last
year play that attacking style. They got smashed off the
park and relegated. Vincent Company is now managing Bayern Munich.
So Russell Martin, I'm going to stick to my guns
and hofully, someone picks me up from it, and you
might good to sort of and it and just be
like nah, I'm just going to stick to it. But
(04:07):
Southampton suck. They're so bad watching their game. If you
just watched, they're about to do something stupid. I wasn't
sure if I was.
Speaker 1 (04:14):
Going to bring this up and in how people like
leave early? Obviously five nol you want to just leave.
That was even the blind as a blind section of Southampton.
They all left, so there was a few enough enough
they didn't They didn't want to see it or hear
the game, so it was beautye not good from time.
Speaker 2 (04:26):
I enjoy that they gave him. They backed Martin. All right,
all right, let's see how this goes. And it has
just gone beyond the point when you're down five mili
at halftime just only yeah, got to five and then
well they just put they put the feed up. They
played Europa League midweek as well. They've got a game
in the in the League Cup during the week. Feed
up time true, true.
Speaker 1 (04:45):
Next one Man United somehow beat Manchester City obviously two
to one at the Eddy had. I know that Manchester
City had been horrible, but I thought they'd still get
over there are ris What the hell has happened there?
Speaker 2 (04:57):
It would take a sick, sick man to enjoy this downfall.
The Manchester City are Cardi and that's why I woke
up this morning with a thumping headache and a sore throat.
I'm a sick man. I'm loving every minute of this.
These cheats, these just falling flat on their face. I'm
actually worried for Pep, like.
Speaker 3 (05:16):
Well, we've talked about this on the sohel a lot
of time, and he's scratching his head.
Speaker 2 (05:19):
I mean, I'm known to do that, Like my partner
says when I'm watching like the swan's get stressed. I
roll my hands when you have no hair because and
it's cold and it's cold, so those scratch marks are
going to stick out. But the head loss in this game,
the backpass from Newns rolled into the slide tackle to
give away the penalty, then to give up that goal
(05:40):
when Diallo scores in the last minute. First of all,
ten Hag left this dude on the bench for two years.
What is ten Hag doing? Just quick little whack there,
But you see new naz is just watching the run
from Diallo come through there, Dallos sorry, come through there.
And then you're also having who was there was just
jogging back there, Ruben down. I was just jogging back
(06:01):
and watching. And then Paul of Guardiol like he's going
back full pelt and he just can't get his ankles
out of the way. So a bit more like intensity, Yeah, the.
Speaker 3 (06:09):
Intensity and structure of City at the moment they.
Speaker 2 (06:12):
Stopped that goal going through and it's one all you
could see you as soon as United scored, City were
h yeah, funny start.
Speaker 3 (06:20):
You got a bit of everything.
Speaker 2 (06:21):
How many seconds was it between when Manchester United scored
and their second goal? Oh?
Speaker 3 (06:26):
I saw this like seventy second one hundred and fifteen. Yeah,
I knew it was.
Speaker 2 (06:31):
You know, you get the joke right, one hundred and
fifteen charges against Manchester beautiful.
Speaker 3 (06:36):
Yeah, maybe there's something in there.
Speaker 2 (06:37):
God just got just coming down and Chargers.
Speaker 1 (06:41):
The other one I wrote down here with Delo was
a bit of bands with Peppy. Went up to the
out of the game, went to shake his hand and
Pep's like, I don't want anything with you.
Speaker 2 (06:48):
Oh I know. It was ever Earling Harland ever since
he stayed said to Michael tr to stay humble. Yeah
they have ready humble now, aren't you. Yep.
Speaker 1 (06:57):
I've got some fl titles to wave around, but this
season I've got one absolutely cooked.
Speaker 2 (07:01):
It has one.
Speaker 1 (07:02):
I was going to get into this later, but yeah,
they've only won one of their last games in all competitions.
This is the worst city I have been in my
lifetime probably, And then they've dropped a fifth in the league,
which smith isn't that bad. But since pre takeover, Prince
take yeah, pre takeover, I'll give you that. So city
of Oh my god, that absolutely cooked over there.
Speaker 2 (07:17):
I love it as well.
Speaker 1 (07:18):
Next one I want to touch on knots We used
to do the show last year and you loved a
bit of not so do want to win against Villa.
Speaker 2 (07:25):
They're fourth on the table.
Speaker 1 (07:26):
Chris Wood is a god a Langa's got Like they're
just all these guys hitting their prime, even if.
Speaker 2 (07:30):
They're thirty years old. They're just bloody awesome. It goes
to show and similar to Chelsea doing it as well.
They're completely overhauling your squad and just throwing portion of
the win psr wis and we'll sneak through on This
does work when you change over, Like they've come up
from the championship. They snuck by in their first season.
They were better last year, that even better this year.
Like you look at the squad that they had when
(07:51):
they came up from the championships. What it is now,
it's completely different. Same with Chelsea from three years ago
to what it is now. Like sometimes just changing everything. Yeah,
it takes a while, but it's worth it.
Speaker 1 (08:00):
Yeah Yeah, and then yeah, Alange obviously got the ninety
third minute Winter He's.
Speaker 2 (08:03):
Just Viella should have had a penalty in the first half. Villa.
Speaker 1 (08:06):
I was gonna say this something the grab of guy's
arm the whole game for Villa.
Speaker 3 (08:09):
I know that I was happy.
Speaker 2 (08:10):
With not winning.
Speaker 1 (08:11):
The whole game for Villa was very controversial, that that
penalty they should have got should have been and the
goal that a Langer scored. I don't know if he
saw it.
Speaker 2 (08:17):
The build up to that play. This guy guy, I can't.
Speaker 1 (08:19):
Remember who it was, on the on the wing got
Albo in the back from Villa and then they went
onto score and.
Speaker 2 (08:24):
It was also they also had a goal ruled out
earlier as well, So yeah, you look at it and guy,
on the basis of weights of things that they should
have won, you also saw probably the greatest say ever
from our team, such a know how he did it.
He was sho a hundred times.
Speaker 1 (08:38):
He sometimes dies really late because he's like trying to
make up his mind or if it's like a little
and he just always gets big man, he's a freak.
I got to talk about Chelsea to finish off some
I'll start with the bad and then we go with
the good. Uh mccaulu, Mudrick Marcus, who's usually on this show,
that's his favorite player.
Speaker 3 (08:52):
I was actually hoping he was on today.
Speaker 1 (08:54):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (08:54):
He's been banned for doping, provisionally banned, so similar to
Essendon in the AFL. If you're an AFL fan, it
didn't help his performance because he was horrible for Chelsea.
But yeah, provisionally banged while they are researching all and
doing few samples got to come back.
Speaker 3 (09:08):
So yeah, he's been banned. I'm very surprised by that.
Speaker 2 (09:10):
So I had to look at I look this thing up.
I actually screenshot of the thing so for those that
are watching this. So he's taken meldonium, which is it's
a heart disease drug that was developed in the nineteen seventies,
but it is to help blood flow, to blood flow
to body tissue, muscles and organs. It also helps boost
metabolism and as I said, it increases blood flow.
Speaker 3 (09:30):
So you take that right.
Speaker 2 (09:32):
I know, I'm going to walk it up see if
I can buy it. But it's not like he had
a heart. He didn't have a hard It's to help
his metabolism, which means he can eat more, can lift more,
can get stronger, more athletic endurance, things like that. Yeah,
it's just funny because if he's been doing this for
a long time, it has not helped him at all.
Because I do know Fernandez has been working out with
Mudrik's trainer.
Speaker 3 (09:50):
Oh yeah, oh no.
Speaker 2 (09:52):
This man. But yeah.
Speaker 1 (09:53):
On a positive note for Chelsea fans and myself Chelsea,
I know that Liverpool have a game in hand, but they're.
Speaker 2 (09:58):
Two points behind the lead. All the Chelsea players are like,
I don't want to talk about it.
Speaker 3 (10:04):
Agree.
Speaker 2 (10:04):
I agree.
Speaker 1 (10:05):
Marcus is a big Chelsea fan on the show as well,
he didn't want to talk about the titar race.
Speaker 3 (10:08):
But a second we are in right now, we're in
the title race.
Speaker 2 (10:11):
Halfway through the season. You are second, two points behind
the leaders. You are in a titar race. Your schedule
towards the back end of the season is tough because
you're still You've got to play City, Newcastle, Arsenal and
I think maybe Villa away still, so there's four very
tough games to go away too. You've already got through
the Liverpool away which you lost to one. I think, yes, yeah,
(10:31):
so yeah, you've still got four very hard away games
to come. But right now it's like you should be
setting yourself for the top four, top five. Cole part
was just so chill.
Speaker 3 (10:38):
They doesn't want to talk about it.
Speaker 2 (10:39):
So that's fair enough because he's three chromosome.
Speaker 3 (10:42):
Yes, I love him, he's so good.
Speaker 1 (10:44):
Yeah, but I think, yeah, under the title race, which
is very exciting to watching so many just goals coming
from everywhere.
Speaker 2 (10:50):
It's awesome. That's around the grounds.
Speaker 1 (10:52):
There was so much to talk about there. Let's get
into the best game of the match week. I've gone
for Tottenham versus Liverpool. There was a few good ones,
but just I think there's gonna be a lot of
goals in this one.
Speaker 2 (11:00):
On Tottenham probably like desperately need to win a home
they've been really poor at home.
Speaker 1 (11:04):
I think they've lost their last three there. And then Liverpool,
they've won ten of the last thirteen meetings against Spurs.
You look at all the Big six and their record
against it should.
Speaker 2 (11:13):
Be eleven or thirteen. Because let's remember Liverpool got ripped
off in that game against Spurs last year with the
offside goal that was ruled out with check complete boys,
good process.
Speaker 1 (11:22):
But that was when the footage, not the footage, the
audio came out.
Speaker 2 (11:27):
Yeah, yeah, where they've misheard. It's like, oh yeah, the
linesman as a flag. I think it was jotter offside.
It was clearly on side and like, yep, just check
for offside. And then they've watched it like, yep, check complete,
all good. The var guy for those who don't remember this,
thought that he said, oh yeah, we just want to
check if he's on side. Yep, he's on side or
(11:47):
good not he's flag check. Just make sure that this
is sweet.
Speaker 1 (11:51):
That was so bad, like the top league in the
whole world and they've cooked.
Speaker 2 (11:54):
It cost Liverpool the game. They finished top four anyway,
didn't cost them the title, but it's cost Liverpool a
massive win there away. Oh yeah, and at the time,
who knows where that momentum from a win like that
could have taken them away as I think there was
a red card in that game, and I know Tottenham
scored late to equalis or Liverpool. Right, yeah, there was
like equalized Liverpool. Liverpool should have won that game.
Speaker 3 (12:14):
Yeah, that was that was cooked. Spurs as well.
Speaker 1 (12:16):
They are tenth, but they've got the second best goal
difference in the comps.
Speaker 2 (12:20):
So you've got Chelsea and men.
Speaker 1 (12:22):
Sorry, Chelsea and Liverpool are on eighteen goal difference, and
then you've got Tottenham and seventeen gold difference. Everyone around
them is like two goal difference. They're just just a
weird team. They're always pretty fun to watch. I know
you're an arsenal man and you're fun watch because just
you don't know what's gonna happen to watch them.
Speaker 3 (12:38):
There's going to be four.
Speaker 1 (12:39):
Goals at least in this game, I think, so I'll
be going the over the two and a half in
with Betfair.
Speaker 3 (12:44):
But it's just such a weird game. It's gonna be awesome. Well,
it's just it's Spursy.
Speaker 2 (12:47):
Yeah, they'll beat up on Southampton, but then they'll go
and lose his next game. Three No, probably just Tottenham,
all right.
Speaker 1 (12:52):
So we'll get into goalscorer and score picks. Just give
us at least one goal scorer and what the score
is going to be.
Speaker 2 (12:58):
I'll go with Cody Gakpo because Jotta, who played on
the weekend, Arna Slott came out this morning and said
he's not going to be available for the game against
Southampton mid week because he's injured again or something, which
is unfortunate for Josh as he's just come back from injury.
So you need to also think that Liverpool are playing
a League Cup quarterfinal on I think Thursday, as are Totten.
(13:19):
Tottenham are playing Manchester United, so you've got to think
that both teams are going to be rotating around a
little bit. Tottena will be desperate to win in the
League Cup because they need a trophy.
Speaker 3 (13:27):
They also have a lot of injuries, so they won't
be able to rotate.
Speaker 2 (13:29):
They won't be able to rotate as much. So I
think I think Cody Gakperfy starts on one of the wings.
I know salar Will probably played both games, but he
scored some brilliant goals already so far the season coming
off the bench. I think he can score there. I
got a weird feeling this could be a draw. That's
what I was leading towards. But I will say that
just because I think both teams have Liverpool should cruise
(13:49):
through their quarterfinal on Thursday Friday morning. I think it
is our time. Tottenham are playing Manchester United, so they've
got to throw everything United in this quarter final. There
could be a little bit of flats Liverpool. We've seen
the last couple of weeks. There's little chinks there because Arsenal. No, no,
there is a little bit. Robinson's not playing because he's
got the straight red car again. They've got games mid week.
(14:12):
They've had injuries rolling through like not massive injuries, but
they still got no Kanate. So there's a little chinks
there for Liverpool, like they had that game against Southampton
that they scraped the three to winning drew last week. Yep,
and Tottenham, who knows what Tottenham you're going to get?
Speaker 3 (14:24):
Yeah, that's true.
Speaker 1 (14:26):
If they rock up it and they score two or
three goals and they nil or they could lose five.
Speaker 2 (14:31):
Any result doesn't surprise me in this game as the
arsenal in me is like draws the best results because
I don't want Tottenham.
Speaker 1 (14:38):
To win, but I don't want Liverpool raw like usually
the game abandons another storm or something.
Speaker 2 (14:46):
No, no, no, I've got to have them play, so
it draws a great result. But I actually think it
will be a draw because Tottenham that win from the weekend,
the way that they blit Southampton in the first ten
minutes and bring comp they are a good team. And
in James Madison plays once one once like he plays
one time every six weeks and he did it last week.
(15:07):
Not wrong.
Speaker 1 (15:08):
I know this is an obvious one, but I reckons
sala is going to score twice. He didn't score last week.
I saw An had a captain him In fantasy I
was filthy and had an assist which wasn't too bad.
Speaker 2 (15:16):
But he has Nicholas Jackson.
Speaker 1 (15:18):
Oh that's not a bad one. Not many people I
need to get him. Actually, yes, I'm gonna go. Yes,
Salah gets to Liverpool win this. I'm gonna say three too.
I think it's gonna be an all time classic game.
Just so many goals.
Speaker 2 (15:30):
I just yeah.
Speaker 1 (15:30):
Totnham have lost their last week at home. They come
up against the big teams and they crumble a little bit.
So I think Liverpool I have to win this one,
bounce back after that draw last week. All right, let's
get into the next segment, the back all lay bets
thanks to Betfair, the only place to back in lay
bet on the EPL this season.
Speaker 2 (15:44):
Last week it was just Marcus and my tips. Three
out of four we went to. We're pretty happy with
for match week sixteen.
Speaker 1 (15:50):
If Switch cost my second tip because they beat bloody Wolves.
When you get tip in the Wolves game, I know
we're gonna cover a wide spectrum here we come, the
big teams, the small teams, the medium teams.
Speaker 3 (16:02):
Cover a bit of everything.
Speaker 2 (16:03):
I'm bored with this switch going.
Speaker 1 (16:06):
But yeah, we always as we always will start with
Betfair's expert tips from Tony Hargreaves. We'll have a look
at this one. I'll read out the first team, maybe
you read out the third one we've got. He's going
to back over two and a half goals at a
dollar seventy for Ipswich Town versus Newcastle. The past three
Newcastle matches have gone over three and a half goals.
I s which scores in their last two matches have
been two to one, So you get the over two
and a half there for all those matches. What do
(16:27):
we think about that one dollars seventy things speaker value.
Speaker 2 (16:29):
I wouldn't be shocked if I switch actually win this game,
because Newcastle can just play like they were inexorable against Leicester.
But then they'll just turn up here and get rolled.
Oh yeah that if it's not at Saint James's Park.
Marcus was and I were talking last week.
Speaker 1 (16:41):
They just don't lift for the It's like, oh, they're
not there away the.
Speaker 2 (16:46):
Three will draw a couple of weeks ago against Liverpool. Yeah,
you're right, they lift for.
Speaker 3 (16:49):
The big games and then they just drop it. So
I wouldn't be surprised.
Speaker 2 (16:51):
Of the I'm a big fan of leam to Lap.
Speaker 3 (16:53):
Actually, ooh he's good.
Speaker 2 (16:54):
Good finish him Arsenal, So yeah, finish.
Speaker 3 (16:56):
Tony's first tip there with don't mind that one.
Speaker 1 (16:58):
Next one is going to back the draw at three
dollars eighty for west.
Speaker 3 (17:01):
Ham versus Brighton. This is this is riskiest one.
Speaker 2 (17:03):
This game is gross.
Speaker 3 (17:04):
It is a bit gross.
Speaker 1 (17:05):
Could Brighton have been okay, but five of the last
eight meetings, Tony says, has been a draw. Brighton have
been strong, but they're three, three and two away from home.
Speaker 2 (17:12):
Crap. On the weekend against Crystal Pass.
Speaker 1 (17:14):
They were They're really good at the MS usually. Yeah,
that was their first loss at the X, first loss
of the AX, and then they've had six draws already
this season. So out of all results this season, they're
more likely to get a drawer than anything.
Speaker 2 (17:24):
Else but west Ham. Yeah.
Speaker 3 (17:28):
I reckon west Ham.
Speaker 1 (17:29):
So I don't mind this from Tony, the three dollars
eighty with Betfair, because they literally like A're going to
sit back. They have enough scoring options. I reckon they're
going to sit back at home.
Speaker 3 (17:38):
A new or a one all.
Speaker 1 (17:40):
We've got to try and win this game, so I'm
not going to be watching this game because I reckon
it's going to be very low scoring, but I might
have a bet on this one three dollars eighty Do
you want to read out the last one?
Speaker 3 (17:49):
This goes against it?
Speaker 2 (17:50):
This is this is Sunday two am. Yeah, this is
the three three pm kickoffs, so I won't be watching it.
Tony's backing Liverpool against Tottenham. Spurs have just won one
of their past ten against Liverpool and their five and
Spur Spurs have lost their last three at home, but
Liverpool have five and two away. Does that mean what
five wins two draws?
Speaker 3 (18:09):
Okay, so no losses, they've been pretty solid away dollar
eighty two.
Speaker 1 (18:12):
If you back Liverpool with Bedford not I think that's
good odds for Liverpool, who were top of the table.
Speaker 2 (18:17):
It's just probably get a bit more because it's that Spurs.
And you said still toilet bowl. Yeah, real, real scary
stadium bowl, Yeah, real scary, Alex. You want to get
into your tips after Tony's Yeah, I got two there.
So first one, I'm going to back Brentford against Nottingham
Forest at home. Brentford at home are just like the
greatest team in the universe. They have seven wins in
a drawer at home this season in the league, twenty
six of their goals they've scored at home. They just
(18:39):
got We're going to go Psycho. That's awesome based but
near on four for a game at home. Knots in
two of their last three away games have been smacked
three and they got belted by Arsenal. I got belted
by a Man City. I know they went to United
and one, but that was Amrim just coming in and
trying to adjustep. So I just think Knots away from home,
whereas Brentford up and about at home they weren't terrible
against Chelsea. Away from home, they just suck. So I'm
(19:02):
really happy to have something on Brentford. Think they're good.
It's two dollars thirty four, so I'm happy with that.
Very nice.
Speaker 1 (19:06):
Yeah, I really like that Bredford just at home without
Tony who frank r He's a legend.
Speaker 3 (19:12):
They're scoring more goals without Tony.
Speaker 1 (19:14):
Everyone goes, oh, you've got has been great, It has
been awesome, But their best goals grow the last five
season was always Tony.
Speaker 3 (19:21):
Now he's gone and they're actually scoring more goals.
Speaker 2 (19:23):
Yeah, yeah, you're not relying on the on the one
main strike Man and you have a Man City. It's
like the problem with Harlan being central to everything. Like
you look at you at Chelsea. You've got goal scorers everywhere.
It's the same here for Brentford. We'll all score. It's fine.
Speaker 3 (19:35):
Yeah, that's awesome.
Speaker 2 (19:36):
Are you going to lay in this one? Yeah? So
another one, I'm lay. I'm going to lay Manchester City.
Let's just keep driving.
Speaker 1 (19:42):
If you've laid Manchester City, which not many people have,
you'd be making bank it lately, so you might as
well keep going on that exactly.
Speaker 2 (19:48):
So last year Aston Villa beat Manchester City at home.
It was a one nil game. Villa are flying at
the time, and Villa's form is very jecul and high
this season. So you take a look when they've played
a MIDWEK midweek game. Villa have lost all of their
last five.
Speaker 3 (20:02):
Because they've been playing really well in the Champions League.
Speaker 2 (20:04):
Yeah, so this week no midweek game. So one of
their MIDWEK games they beat Southampton. Who cares Southampton. But
you look at their record at home. They've beaten Baying
and Bologna and they've also held Juventez to a nil
or draw. Juvent has beat Manchester City to nil last
weekend in the Champions League City one and eleven. You've
got no confidence in it in their defensive set up whatsoever.
Kyle Walker looks like an octagen aire and when he's
(20:25):
not diving around like an Oscar winner. That was the
biggest flop in a long time. And following up by Yeah,
that was pretty bad, both of them.
Speaker 3 (20:34):
But he literally was like just touched his head. Hoyland
just touched one.
Speaker 2 (20:37):
Anyway, he should have been sent off for diving. Phil Ferden, honestly,
you like Pep in a press conferences. Oh we don't
have so and so and so and fod not available.
Ferdon's playing that bad that Pep available. He hasn't got
a goal, yeah yet, not available, but he said he's
not available, but he's been picking him like he thinks
(20:58):
he's injured. Yeah, but he's just he's just forgot that.
He's playing pathetically. Is he the worst I think he's
the worst, worst player. Yeah, and he wasn't even the
best player in the league last year. It was it
was everyone like razzing him up because he was the
local white guy from England's doing it like everyone's saying
Cole Palmer is the best player in the league this year.
It's not. It's Mohammed Salah. He's the best player in
(21:20):
the league this season.
Speaker 3 (21:21):
Yeah, it's Salah or Palmer.
Speaker 2 (21:22):
It's Salah by a long way. Well I don't know
about how long way, but he's very good. Anyway, back
to the City. They've conceded twenty five goals in eleven
in those eleven games, yep, and they've conceded two or
more in their last seven away games. Villa. Oh this
is big. Johann Guran, Olie Watkins, come on, get on board, boys,
score a goal because Uni and Aston Villa fans are
finally learning what Arsenal fans dealt with that second season.
(21:45):
Oh god, what is this? Yeah? They just could. They
desperately need to win. So I'll lay City and I've
got the drawer and Villa on tipe.
Speaker 1 (21:50):
Yeah yeah, yeah, you get the drawers. Well I wouldn't
be surprised if this one's a draw. So you get
Villa Villa at home as well. They're always rocking over
the Villa on the I was twenty two beautiful to
lay Manchester City.
Speaker 3 (22:00):
Yeah, Villa seventh except that's okay, okay, so I was
really tight.
Speaker 2 (22:03):
There, So whin here actually puts them above City on
the table really gets that is nuts.
Speaker 1 (22:08):
The sixth Yeah, Bournemouth, they should have won on the
weekend as well, Actually done mine. Bournemouth's like Bournemouth and
Knots are just so fun to watch.
Speaker 2 (22:15):
At the moment and Breford Polnoth they better enjoy it
this year because that team is going to get Pilford
in the off season.
Speaker 3 (22:20):
Not wrong, not wrong. Last one we're gonna do for
the betfair back of lay bets.
Speaker 1 (22:24):
I'm gonna lay west Ham at three dollars and five
cents for west Ham west Brighton. Obviously, Tony talked about
the draw in his earlier Tips of the Expert tips,
so he still get the draw on your side if
Brighton win or this west Ham and Brighton game comes
a draw. Look, west Ham, we're lucky on the weekend
with that penalty against Bournemouth. They literally had no chances
they got they got to believe it, that penalty, But
Bournemouth had so many chances they have won. That kick
(22:45):
was awesome, awesome free kick. There was just so much
gone on in that game. But Bournemouth should have won that,
so I think they got lucky. They've only won one
one of their past seven games, so the only result
we don't want here is a west Ham wins.
Speaker 3 (22:55):
I'm pretty confident with that.
Speaker 1 (22:57):
Even at home they've been shocking uh and they've only
won one of the past fourteen meetings with Brighton. There's
been a lot of draws between these two.
Speaker 2 (23:04):
So they west Ham beat Wolves, but their previous home game,
Arsenal ripped four in them in twenty minutes. Yeah, like
their home form Brighten nowhere near as good as Arsenal.
Speaker 1 (23:12):
But yeah, the Bran are going to score a few
goals and I think this could be a draw mill
draw draw.
Speaker 2 (23:17):
I couldn't.
Speaker 1 (23:18):
Yeah, yeah, so I'm very happy to way lay at
west Ham in this one. All right, let's finish it off.
I've done the betfair back or lay Betts. Let's get into,
as we always do, quick fire tips that sometimes aren't
quick firepl Match Week seventeen will start off with Aston
Villa verst.
Speaker 2 (23:32):
Manchester City said anything but Manchester City, So you can
go draw, maybe don't draw or Villa don't care, don't
mind that.
Speaker 1 (23:37):
I'll go I'm gonna go Villa that Manchester City has
just been woful and you've got Rogers, You've got Watkins
in good forms. So yeah, Villa are going to.
Speaker 2 (23:43):
Win that one.
Speaker 1 (23:44):
West Ham versus brighton the draw, We're all going the
draw with Tony on this one.
Speaker 3 (23:48):
Ipswich Town versus Newcastle.
Speaker 2 (23:50):
I'm gonna Tiphip switch away from home, just like yeah,
it's one of those games that you look back at
the end of the season if you switched that. Remember
they beat Newcastle in December. It's one of those ones,
all right.
Speaker 1 (23:59):
I really wanted to stay because their crowd is fun,
their stadium's fun, They're some of their players are really fun.
They just bottle a few games. But I'm going to
go draw Newcastle. Surely they lose this one.
Speaker 2 (24:09):
How could be in trouble? They've been really disappointing with
the team they have, Like I know they've had a
few injuries, but their team is really good.
Speaker 3 (24:15):
I think better than where are they on.
Speaker 2 (24:18):
The table right now? They are mid table?
Speaker 1 (24:20):
Yeah, yeah, so I think they should be better. Brentford
West Knots Forests, Renford Brentford. I really want to tip
not to beet Bredford a home. They've been awesome.
Speaker 3 (24:28):
Crystal Palace versus Arsenal Christal pass have been really good.
Speaker 2 (24:31):
So this is funny. Arsenal and Crystal Palace play at
the Emirates on Tomorrow morning, so you'll listen to this.
On Wednesday. They play Thursday morning in a League Cup
quarter finals and then played Selhurst Park on Sunday in
the five thirty kickoffs. Two times in a couple of
days of both teams. This is this will be an
Arsenal winning the Arsenal one. I think it was five
mil last year and at the start of the season
(24:52):
went to Selhurst Park and one one or two nil,
just bite being down to ten men for half an hour.
So Palace in good form. GLA's doing some good stuff.
This's not a bit more. The bounce back could happen midweek,
but it's just that Arsenal is simply better than Crystal Power. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (25:09):
I hate to admit it, but I'll alt Arsenal. Yeah
for you as well, Everton at Verse. Chelsea got to
be a big Chelsea winn. I think the amount of goals.
Speaker 2 (25:16):
The dirty Sean dish.
Speaker 3 (25:21):
The bust will be parked by Overthon, won't it.
Speaker 2 (25:22):
Yeah, yeah, Chelsea should win this. But if Everton somehow
sneak a draw, it wouldn't chop.
Speaker 1 (25:28):
They got one against Arsenal, but yeah, anyway, Yeah, Chelsea
better than Arsenal anyway, So that's all right. Manchester United
versus Bournemouth, this will actually be a fun game, I think,
because Bournemouth have been good to watch and Man you
have been a very up and down.
Speaker 2 (25:40):
Well yeah, we didn't talk about Rashford and Garnaccho getting
just dropped and Rashford's up for sale now, so everyone's going, oh,
they injured and the coaches like, no, no, I just
want to drop them. I think Garnacha just needs to
smack around the ears to wake up to himself. But
you've got to sell Rashford.
Speaker 3 (25:54):
Yeah, people are saying sell both of them.
Speaker 2 (25:56):
But keep like you got to get rid of Rashford.
He's been there for long enough. He's just not he's
done his time there kind of thing.
Speaker 3 (26:03):
He's a fresh start. Probably this is a weird one.
Speaker 2 (26:05):
Yeah, like United, that game against City actually was pretty crap. Yeah,
it sucked. Bits and pieces there that you can take,
but this will probably be a draw draw.
Speaker 1 (26:17):
I'm going to say, Man United, they take a bit
of confidence. They're starting to get that starting line up
a little bit stronger, I think, and a little bit.
Speaker 2 (26:22):
Yeah, it looks a little bit better. So I'm going
to go United and might another one. Fulham versus Southampton.
What a game that is Fulham smash full of season.
So he throw scores a double yea, the old Arsenal
three nil. I reckon Fulham is literally they are literally
the Fulham gunners. There is yeah, there is there five Yeah.
I guess they're just around the court with Reees Nelson
(26:43):
as well. Online. That's that's crazy.
Speaker 3 (26:45):
Last year we're going to touch on less The City
versus Wolves.
Speaker 2 (26:48):
A tough game. Anything that has rude venis draw in.
I don't want happiness, so let's go the draw. Yeah,
I'd be staying away from the betting markets on this one.
I'll go Lester. They had to score goals and Wolves
have got their new coach in some Portuguese coach that's
been coaching in the Saudi Pre League. He's probably not
going to be ready to coach on Sunday, but yeah,
draw draw. I'll go Leicester City and last one we
(27:10):
already touched on it. I went to Liverpool for Tottenhast Liverpool,
you're still in towards the draw. Yeah, the funniest outcome,
funniest out the funniest outcome in this Tottenham being up
three mil in twenty five minutes and then draw and
then and then uh Liverpool scoring three goals in last
fifteen minutes to draw it.
Speaker 1 (27:27):
Honestly, it's a very Spursy game, right yeah, yeah, all right,
we'll have to wait and see if that's the funniest game.
Speaker 3 (27:33):
All right, that's it.
Speaker 1 (27:34):
