Speaker 1 (00:05):
Welcome to this Thanksgiving Eve edition of the From the
Podium podcast. I'm Gabe Klea. It's installed ay on a
Wednesday here at the Cross Country Mortgage Campus as the
Browns prepared to take on the forty nine Ers this
coming Sunday. On today's episode, you'll hear from head coach
Kevin Stefanski, quarterback Should Were Sanders, wide receiver Jerry Judy,
offensive guard Joel Batonio, and safety Grant Delpit. We'll start

(00:26):
with head coach Kevin Stefanski, who gave his preview of
the San Francisco forty nine Ers.

Speaker 2 (00:30):
Okay, great challenge this week, A really really good football
team coming to our place. I have a ton of
respect for coach Shanahan, his coaches, his staff who I
know a lot of his coaches that they do a
great job, really talented roster. They're playing good football. So
we have to have to meet this challenge. It's a
unique challenge in some of the things they do schematically,

(00:51):
so we have to have a great work week. Obviously
it's a different work week just with Thanksgiving tomorrow, and
we'll move some meetings around in that type of thing.
But I have to have a really great work week
this week before we head down to the stadium in
front of our fans, which is we're very excited about
that part.

Speaker 3 (01:07):
So with that, I'll take any questions.

Speaker 4 (01:10):
Chris Roberts there now back as a defensive order, where
is he kind of put his imprint back on that
defense and what is the you know, what's kind of
the teaching points with Shaudur this week to prepare him
for that which.

Speaker 3 (01:23):
You Yeah, Coach Slad does an amazing job.

Speaker 2 (01:25):
You know, I've competed against coach Salad when he was
at the Niners the first time when he was at
the Jets, obviously going up against him now, he's excellent
football coach.

Speaker 3 (01:36):
From the x's and o's.

Speaker 2 (01:37):
But this defense and coach solid system and our system
share a lot of DNA. Their defensive line coach Chris Kuseric,
who does an outstanding job, was with coach Schwartz when
they're in Detroit together. So there's a lot of things
that they do similar. And I'd say the number one
thing that I think you'd see on tape is how
hard their defense plays and how relentless their defense plays.

Speaker 3 (01:57):
And that's something.

Speaker 2 (01:57):
That's obviously part of both teams defensive identity.

Speaker 5 (02:04):
How much work and what was the work that went
into Schador eliminating those deep loss sacks.

Speaker 2 (02:11):
Yeah, I thought he did a great job. The protection
plan was really solid. We really had one sack for
negative three yards on a coverage sack. You know, we
went max protection, didn't really have any underneath options, moved
forward in the pocket with great ball security. So that's
a great lesson for the young quarterback. And we took
a sack, but it was just for minus three. We

(02:32):
maintained possession of the ball. He had great ball security
throughout that.

Speaker 6 (02:34):
But it.

Speaker 2 (02:36):
Only you have great success over the course of a
game by everybody being on the same page. That's a
quarterback and how he's operating. That's the offensive line and
who they're blocking. Tight ends and running backs are involved.
Obviously people getting open. So I thought that was a
really really strong outing for Shudur in his first start
to just have one sack.

Speaker 7 (02:54):
Coaching to him to go over former games.

Speaker 2 (02:57):
And say, oh sure, I mean, we talk about a
lot in that quarterback room and certainly have had a
lot of discussions with all the quarterbacks int your door
on just our pocket movement, our pocket mechanics. When you
have players that can escape the pocket and make big
plays down the field, naturally there are going to be
times where you then expose yourself.

Speaker 3 (03:17):
To a pass rush.

Speaker 2 (03:19):
So that balance of finding the completions when they're there
and you can make plays from the pocket, and then
also still having that ability to break the pocket, break,
contain move up in the pocket, all those type of
things where some big plays lie when you do that.

Speaker 8 (03:33):
The forty nine ers are I think last in the
NFL in sacks right now. And obviously Nick host is
not out there, Friend Warner's not out there. What does
that mean in terms of their ability to get pressure
and rush the passer.

Speaker 3 (03:45):
Yeah, they still do an outstanding job.

Speaker 2 (03:46):
They have rushers that can win one on ones, that
they have a good pressure package on third down, and
they are relentless. Just talking earlier about how this team plays,
they're relentless. You have to match their intensity really throughout
the game.

Speaker 9 (04:00):
Mcanfrey to gets the ball is much he does?

Speaker 10 (04:03):
I mean, besides the talent answering, how does just volume
challenge you guys?

Speaker 2 (04:08):
Yeah, he's a unique player in this game just the
way he impacts the game and both the run in
the past.

Speaker 3 (04:16):
He's a When he's.

Speaker 2 (04:17):
Running routes, he's a wide receiver. I mean, I really
don't think there's a route he can't run. They could
line him up anywhere. He could run any route. There's
no run scheme that he can't run. So he's a
huge challenge. Having gone against him over the years, you
try to limit him, you try to slow him down,
but you also have to recognize this is a great player.

Speaker 7 (04:35):
The fans are gonna go crazy Sunday. You with your
door do you have to.

Speaker 11 (04:41):
Kind of harness his energy so he stays within the game.

Speaker 2 (04:46):
I think he's done a nice He's always done a
nice job of that. He's you know, what we appreciate
about all of our players is authenticity. He's the same
guy every single day. Obviously on game day there's a
juice that comes with that, there's an excitement that comes
with that. But he's played that position for a long time.
He knows how to make sure he keeps the main
thing the main thing.

Speaker 7 (05:07):
How much the.

Speaker 12 (05:07):
Forty Niners use pre stoyn motion to like the second League,
just how much is that a point of emphasis for
you guys on defense to make sure your eyes are
kind of in the right place and you're not falling
for certain things in the try to show you.

Speaker 2 (05:18):
Yeah, it's a huge point of emphsis and it's been
a staple of what they do. That's something certainly when
we played them a couple of years back, with what
they do, having played Miami recently, that's a big part
of them as well. So there are schemes, there are
offensive attacks that utilize pre snap motion shift for a
variety of reasons, but it's a huge point of emphasis

(05:40):
for us on defense to stay true to our jobs,
stay true to our reads, those type of things.

Speaker 8 (05:46):
Why didn't you give Shador a game ball after the game?
And I know you didn't give Dylan one either. Is
it like you don't want to let Ruey's taste too
much success too soon?

Speaker 13 (05:55):
Or what was the no?

Speaker 2 (05:56):
I mean every game you go into it trying to
just highlight guys. You know, Miles got a game ball.
I thought it was probably pretty worthy. But you're just
constantly trying to recognize your guys. We spend time this
morning as well pointing out all of our guys and
the jobs he did, you know, point out Gauge having
a big punt return, which was huge for our team.

(06:19):
Your d line doesn't get ten sacks unless the coverage
is really good. Obviously, a rookie starting his first game
on the road getting a win is huge. So you
acknowledge all that with your team before.

Speaker 5 (06:29):
Schwartz, before you hired sports, he had successful successful record
against shann Ann as coordinators head coaches when you shared
that success on a twenty three.

Speaker 7 (06:39):
To one game.

Speaker 5 (06:40):
So have you learned some of his trade secrets over
the last three years?

Speaker 2 (06:45):
I think that's honestly, Tony, I think it's probably overrated
to think and I understand the question, but there's really
really good coaches on both sides of the ball, and
there's gonna be moments where they got you, and there's
gonna be moments we get them, and there's always in between.
But all those previous games, while we're watching that game

(07:06):
and they're watching that game, those games don't really factor
into this one.

Speaker 4 (07:09):
When you first when you saw pretty a couple of
years ago, you know he's still relatively young, still kind
of in that you know, bursting onto the scene. Where
how has he changed as a quarterback, if at all?
What have you noticed different about him now? As you
get ready to see him a second time.

Speaker 3 (07:28):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (07:29):
I think he's extremely talented. Great decision maker, fast decision maker,
very accurate, very very good athlete. Makes a ton of
plays with his feet. We've studied a lot of his
movement over the years on scramble drills. He's outstanding at
extending plays, making plays with his feet.

Speaker 3 (07:49):
Yeah, I think he's got really all the tools.

Speaker 7 (07:51):
Numbers have worked great. Really, you always said that you
trusted Dyan Sampson.

Speaker 10 (07:55):
And you wanted to get him more involved. Why were
you so confident that you would have betch you show up?

Speaker 2 (08:00):
Yeah, I think there's been. I think there's been opportunities
to get him involved. It hasn't exactly worked out. I
think he's he's kind of got the short end of
the stick. It feels like a few of his runs
over the last few weeks there's an.

Speaker 3 (08:12):
Unblocked player or whatever.

Speaker 2 (08:14):
And that's part of playing it when when you don't
get as much exposure, you don't get to get the
next run in that type of thing.

Speaker 3 (08:19):
But I've seen him work.

Speaker 2 (08:22):
I've seen him out on the practice field since the spring.
I know what type of player he is. He gives
a different element to our attack when he's out there.
So he's somebody that we feel really strongly about the.

Speaker 5 (08:37):
Wildcat plays the Judkins. You've done it before, but he.

Speaker 7 (08:41):
Didn't do it at Ohio State.

Speaker 5 (08:43):
So did you guys go back to Mississippi or how
did that originate?

Speaker 2 (08:50):
Yeah, I don't recall Tony that. I mean, we got
into it earlier in the season. We've done it over
the years here, but wasn't whether he did it or
not in college. Felt pretty confident that we could get
him up to speed on a lot of that. You know,
that's something that high school teams are doing quite a
bit of, especially with the motion and included with it.

(09:11):
That's something that you see in high school games.

Speaker 7 (09:16):
Coach saying he was successful if necessary.

Speaker 3 (09:18):
It was not.

Speaker 2 (09:19):
No, But again that's that's a every week type of conversation.
Whether you feel like it gives you an advantage, there
are weeks that it doesn't. There are weeks that you
work it and you don't get to it in a game.
So it's really dependent on the opponent.

Speaker 10 (09:34):
Something where you feel like you need to go away
from it for a while. You could you could run
it every week at the matchup.

Speaker 3 (09:39):
Sure, I worked with Tony Sperano.

Speaker 7 (09:43):
Going back to you know, the similarities of the defenses.

Speaker 9 (09:46):
Does that help you do or a little bit considering he.

Speaker 7 (09:48):
Was going against the defense you know running scout team.

Speaker 2 (09:52):
I think it's always helpful, and I think San Francisco
will get a similar look from their Scout team defense
this week. Anytime you can have your players when they're
trying our scout teams trying to act, click the forty
nine ers and play the forty nine ers and you're
holding the card. Anytime you can just tell them to
play your defense, you're going to get a better look.
So certainly I think the look will be better for

(10:15):
the quarterbacks, and then just the built up reps of
going up against the scheme. Now there are significant differences
between the schemes. I think the obviously the attack front
is where we're similar. Coverages can be very different.

Speaker 14 (10:30):
That's lined up hurry more under center this year instead
of exclusively shotgun. Just how much more has that added
in his game to his game?

Speaker 7 (10:40):
And is it an added challenge with their.

Speaker 3 (10:42):
Own It can be.

Speaker 2 (10:43):
I think it's so dependent on what they're trying to
accomplish on a given play type. There are certain play
types that have proven to be more successful under center
than the shotgun. There's also a comfort level with the quarterback.
There's so much that you can do from both. So
I think it's just really dependent on what they're trying
to lean into.

Speaker 8 (11:01):
He's winning AFC Defensive Player of the Week, and how
is it? How nice is it for you guys that
he just keeps playing as hard as he's playing and
getting these accolades.

Speaker 2 (11:10):
Yeah, I mean they could hand that to him every
week as far as I'm concerned. You know, we've talked
at length about Miles and deservedly so. And the thing
I would point out Mary Kay, and I keep saying it,
and I hope someone's pointing it out, but just the
run defense probably gets not probably definitely gets less of
the attention. But he's a well rounded player. He's an

(11:31):
elite player, but this is an elite well randed player.
It's not like he's just rushing the passer. He's playing
the run. He's doing anything and everything to help this team.

Speaker 12 (11:40):
Like the unfortunate circumstances that led to Dylan not starting,
how have you seen him already this week? Handle and
sort of embrace more of that support role. Wish or
being the startup.

Speaker 3 (11:51):
Yeah. Our guys are great, great teammates.

Speaker 2 (11:53):
That's what I appreciate about the guys in this football team.
You push each other, you pull each other when when
they when you need to. So he'll he'll be in
that backup role and he'll do everything in his power
to help this football team, everything in his power to
help your door.

Speaker 10 (12:09):
Said that about Myles against a round a bunch of times.
Is that somewhere you've seen him make a big leap since.

Speaker 6 (12:13):
You've been here?

Speaker 5 (12:14):
Not?

Speaker 3 (12:14):
No, not necessarily.

Speaker 2 (12:16):
I just think the publicity of Sacks gets so much attention,
and I get it, but it's I I admire a
play where he sets the edge violently as much as
as finishing the quarterback on.

Speaker 7 (12:29):
The ground close. Do you expect him to point this year?

Speaker 3 (12:33):
Close?

Speaker 15 (12:34):
Uh?

Speaker 3 (12:34):
I think we'll know more over the next couple of days.

Speaker 15 (12:37):
Day that answer.

Speaker 16 (12:38):
Scott three interceptions against Brockbordy, but they didn't I think
any quarterback partures against mon Obviously, this defense has been
getting a lot of pressure on the backfield kind of
you know, what does that pressure do on a quarterback
that's been you know, kind of making mistake from this
season with the secondary.

Speaker 2 (12:55):
Yeah, obviously they'll have their plan of attack. He does
a great job of getting the ball out on time.
We have to rush with discipline. We really have to
have a focus of everybody doing their job. When we
as a defense have eleven on the same page, everybody
doing their job and doing it relentlessly, we feel good
about our chances.

Speaker 6 (13:14):
Break down.

Speaker 7 (13:15):
I think it leaves a league.

Speaker 2 (13:16):
And incredible contact balance, incredible ability to make the first
man miss, can cut on a dime, runs with power,
has a great feel for space and where he is
and where the defenders are and where his blockers are. Okay, now,
going to see you guys tomorrow. So happy Thanksgiving everybody,

(13:38):
even you Tony up next.

Speaker 1 (13:39):
Quarterback Shore Sanders discussed his thoughts ahead of his second
NFL start When you took.

Speaker 4 (13:44):
Away from me, she said, you know, I really liked
what I did here and really feel like this is
things I needed to really really work for me and
progress on.

Speaker 17 (13:54):
I was really thankful for being out there, of course,
and as everything you know in the midst of a
game that you could progress in. Yes, when it comes
to like even for when you're hitting the ball off
locate defenders understand that the windows do close a little
bit quicker. You know, it's a lot of things that

(14:15):
you could go back in the game and look back
and want to redo.

Speaker 15 (14:21):
Should You're kind of joking.

Speaker 7 (14:22):
After the game, like, you know, until I got a full.

Speaker 18 (14:24):
Off season lass and yeah, but now another week as started.

Speaker 17 (14:28):
Yeah that was that was just jokes, man, Yeah, that
that was jokes. A lot of people took that out
of context. But you understand the past except must been hard,
you know, so I want to definitely be thankful that
I am able to work out with those guys and
knowing I do have a great defense and knowing I
came this far. So I was truly amazed. I was

(14:50):
truly happy, of course in that moment that you know
that the work has been playing off. But uh, I'm
not comfortable.

Speaker 18 (14:58):
I see that all to say, like, you know, what
can we rea and be ex recently expected you in
your second start when you couldn't respect yourself in the sad.

Speaker 15 (15:03):
Stuff, I'll said to do my job.

Speaker 19 (15:06):
Sure I didn't elute you after the game kind of
for the first time, just how hard this past six
months really has been for you, which it was the
most for years who always for us and you had
that smile, had that great attitude and everything, but.

Speaker 7 (15:21):
Uh, this was a lot.

Speaker 19 (15:23):
Harder, and wasn't it then at all?

Speaker 3 (15:25):
And you really let on?

Speaker 19 (15:26):
And why and how were you able to just not show.

Speaker 2 (15:30):
It as much as should do?

Speaker 15 (15:30):
Well?

Speaker 17 (15:31):
First and foremost, I got got so through that he's
able to protect me through everything. But we're in a
good moment now, you know. And uh, I I don't
like looking back. I don't like looking back at the past,
you know, And uh, how I was feeling in that
moment or however it was, because I'm here now, So
I don't never do all on the past and and

(15:51):
and things that happened before you.

Speaker 20 (15:54):
To ask you what show with some of these guys,
no more reps.

Speaker 7 (15:56):
You get physical reps.

Speaker 20 (15:57):
I know you've been taking mental reps and you've been
doing that throughout the year, but to have these physical
represents feel like you're getting a better connection with anybody.

Speaker 17 (16:04):
Yeah, of course, day by day, minute by minute, mean
by mean of course, Uh, I'm getting a little bit
more comfortable and comfortable and like being in that role,
being in that position, they're getting more comfortable for me also,
So I'm excited, I'm happy for and I'm just thankful.

Speaker 21 (16:23):
Harold on seeing the yards after the catch, he's able
let's kick up. Wait, what's that like for you as
a quarterback? And Dylan Simpson made the comment that Harold
just never quits on a place like.

Speaker 17 (16:34):
No, it's great to be out there with Harold. I
know all the receiver cord that's that's the goal is
to get. Yet you know yards have to catch, so
I think he said an example, he set the ball
high for us.

Speaker 5 (16:47):
In this team, Cleveland Browns quarterback is ever won its
first two start.

Speaker 7 (16:54):
Surprise you And how do you feel?

Speaker 17 (16:57):
I don't really go off analytics, analytics and all that stuff,
and it doesn't really it doesn't really uh really really
doesn't matter to me, honestly. You know, I'm focused on
what I could do and what I could control.

Speaker 7 (17:12):
You could be the first.

Speaker 17 (17:14):
Always with the best, you know, and I do everything
I can, you know, for this team and for everybody.
But I got a great defense, got a great team,
got great receiver.

Speaker 15 (17:24):
So I'm just thankful.

Speaker 9 (17:27):
Big play help you.

Speaker 14 (17:31):
And then did you notice the effect that it seemed
to have on the rest of the team.

Speaker 15 (17:35):
Well, it's it's about belief. Uh.

Speaker 17 (17:38):
The reason why I am so confident. And the way
I am is is is the guys around believe you
know so that That's that's what's most important. Within having
the team, we didn't having the offense, we then having
to have a spark, you know you you gotta have
guys that believe you know so.

Speaker 15 (17:57):
And I'm fully.

Speaker 17 (17:57):
Confident myself throughout everything, you know, and and I'm confident
my team, and I'm sure they confident in me.

Speaker 15 (18:03):
Also, I know you got a taste.

Speaker 10 (18:05):
Of it coming off the bench against the Rags, But
what do you think the first start at home in
front of that crowd.

Speaker 15 (18:09):
Safielder, I feel like it'll be fun. I feel like
it'd be very fun.

Speaker 17 (18:15):
You gotta understand right now, I mean, I mean, I'm
in grim old, you.

Speaker 15 (18:18):
Know, mentally.

Speaker 17 (18:21):
Understanding how to attack this defense that we're going against,
and their great team, they got great coaches everything. But
that's why I am mentally right now.

Speaker 22 (18:29):
Are not from you, but all your supporters out out
there say that that Kevin Stefanski was sabotage.

Speaker 15 (18:41):
So you just want to start trouble, huh.

Speaker 3 (18:43):
I know, I want.

Speaker 9 (18:44):
To ask you what your relationship.

Speaker 17 (18:46):
Within Yeah, well, what people do outside the buildings and
really in my control.

Speaker 15 (18:51):
It is not my power. So I don't you.

Speaker 17 (18:54):
Got like I could go out there and tell them
to do whatever. You know, that's that's not nothing I
could control or nothing I could do. But overall, you know,
I'm just happy to be here cause the fans keep
been coaching, uh since I got here, and uh, you
been doing a very great job, right, you know with
everything that's going on.

Speaker 22 (19:10):
But what is your relationship like with him and when
we meet dot to see you guys together.

Speaker 17 (19:17):
Uh, definitely like a coach, you know, he he tells
me what I need to do. Uh, on and off
the field. We definitely grown our relationship and everything is grown.
So I'm just thankful to be here.

Speaker 14 (19:29):
Sure, obviously you had a conversation with Kevin about remaining
the starter earlier this week.

Speaker 7 (19:35):
Just what was that all the life for you?

Speaker 14 (19:37):
Because you talk about your work you put in it
was six months to get your point to just start.

Speaker 12 (19:42):
Was to know that you not only got that opportunity,
but you did a joff.

Speaker 15 (19:46):
To keep the job.

Speaker 7 (19:47):
Just what was that like for here?

Speaker 17 (19:48):
Well, I'll say I'm definitely not comfortable though, So that's
that's first and foremost that I have another opportunity to
go out there. But uh, in life, you gotta understand
how how quickly things come or how long it comes.
It could be taken at any point in time. So
I'm never comfortable in situation I'm in. I always wanna
exceed the expectations and always want to grow, you know,

(20:09):
in each and every week.

Speaker 15 (20:11):
I would wanna put a.

Speaker 17 (20:12):
Better product, but myself be a better version of myself
for the team to be out there.

Speaker 7 (20:17):
With Dylan Samson.

Speaker 9 (20:18):
Have you seen him handle this year?

Speaker 10 (20:20):
He kind of got off you so start on and
then seems to be coming out and obviously made that
huge play.

Speaker 6 (20:24):
For your Sunday.

Speaker 17 (20:25):
Don't been the same all year, you know mentally, so
you wouldn't even know unless.

Speaker 15 (20:29):
You look at the the the the numbers, you know.

Speaker 17 (20:33):
So, uh, he has good energy, good everything you know
when he's out there.

Speaker 15 (20:37):
So, yeah, showed you.

Speaker 7 (20:39):
How do you feel like you are off the sport
facts Eland? I know a lot of the young fans
really look up to you and find you.

Speaker 19 (20:45):
Now you're in opposed city rally, remind you for upcoming
with this Sunday?

Speaker 9 (20:49):
Just how does that make you feel about all that? Uh?

Speaker 13 (20:52):
It?

Speaker 17 (20:52):
It is great, honestly, but like I said, I'm not
comfortable you know, as quick as things come if it
could leave at any point in time. So that don't
really catch my focus. So that's not really in my
focus or my plans.

Speaker 15 (21:06):
You know.

Speaker 17 (21:07):
I'm thankful for everybody and whoever supports, but uh, you know,
I'm focused on getting his team some.

Speaker 8 (21:12):
Wins yourself and then in president of the United States an NFL.

Speaker 9 (21:18):
Players, So yeah, uh for you to get uh.

Speaker 19 (21:21):
You know, and I told you so for the President
of the United States.

Speaker 11 (21:24):
What what did that mean to you this yek?

Speaker 6 (21:26):
Uh?

Speaker 17 (21:26):
Yeah, he definitely, he definitely been a supporter, you know,
for a minute. So I'm just thankful for him from
you know, even taking time out of his day to
be able to speak out, you know, and support he should.

Speaker 14 (21:38):
Or obviously unforce the circumstances for why Steel and Briel
lost the starting job last week and doing a question.

Speaker 7 (21:45):
But now that he's back, just how has.

Speaker 12 (21:47):
He sort of showed support for you already to speak
as you guys be.

Speaker 15 (21:51):
Ready for that. Yeah, definitely, he's a hard worker. He's
the same guy.

Speaker 22 (21:54):
Uh.

Speaker 17 (21:55):
I feel like a lot of people in his locker
room is is the same within every every such there in.
You understand, he's spent a lot of years in CODs,
so he got experience in a lot of different areas
and a lot of different people, so he knows how
to like bond and mess with different people.

Speaker 15 (22:09):
So since he'd been back, he's been good.

Speaker 17 (22:11):
He's been good, He's been cool throughout everything.

Speaker 7 (22:16):
Specifically with ease and just you know in quarterbacks.

Speaker 4 (22:19):
Center, that's such an important, yeah connection, Can you kind
of describe how that's grown over the last couple of weeks.

Speaker 17 (22:27):
Uh, the connection definitely grown. I'll say, I'm thankful to
have him out there, you know, I mean makes life
easier for me. And he's a smart person, smart player,
so you know that's definitely a relief when he's out
there with me.

Speaker 15 (22:42):
Sure, how's it feel to be part of it?

Speaker 10 (22:43):
We've talked so much about this rookie class and now
you're contributing as part of it. Just how do you
look at this entire group and you being part of it?

Speaker 17 (22:52):
Yeah, I'm just thankful. You know, Andrew Barry made the
choices you know he made, and the coaching staff forgetting
us all here. I feel like it's a great class.
We all bond together. We're all we're all like family,
you know. So I'm just thankful that we're all here together.
And I know it's gonna be very exciting, and you
have high expectations for us.

Speaker 15 (23:14):
You know, we're here to exceed those.

Speaker 14 (23:15):
When when you watch them on tape and they're getting
the game, We're not trying to ask you to give away.

Speaker 15 (23:22):
Game that you know for sure.

Speaker 9 (23:24):
What do you see when you defense?

Speaker 17 (23:26):
They're a well coach team, honestly, Uh, they rush their
pass very good, They're great in coverage, have great disguises overall,
they know how to get pressure to the quarterback. So
they're they're great all around defense.

Speaker 6 (23:40):
You know.

Speaker 17 (23:40):
We know, we know they're gonna have some different you know,
cooking for us. But uh, it's going out there, even
having this opportunity, you know, to to go out there
and study them and be able to go in the field.
It's cool, you know, it's very cool. So I'm just thankful.

Speaker 1 (23:55):
For wide receiver Jerry Judy talked about developing chemistry with
new starting quarterback.

Speaker 6 (23:59):
Shoulders you ready? You ready to love?

Speaker 15 (24:01):
Man?

Speaker 9 (24:02):
He be like, oh, I can't wait to get the question.

Speaker 6 (24:05):
Happy, How about to get the team.

Speaker 9 (24:11):
Jared, we got.

Speaker 7 (24:13):
What happened on that in that conans.

Speaker 13 (24:16):
Do I was trying to make a play all wide open.
I see three defenders right there from the cut cross field.
I ain't feeling behind me, simple as that.

Speaker 11 (24:28):
What from your first start with should war, How can
you guys gold on that as a as an offense?

Speaker 13 (24:37):
We just gotta keep doing what we've been doing in practice.
You know, get consistent reps. You know, talk over a
certain place and you know, be on the right page.

Speaker 14 (24:46):
Jared, how how beneficial were those that play that first
year to practices with him? And how much before when
you guys kind of expand on that relationship and that
can texture that?

Speaker 13 (24:56):
Bet you Low, I can't alright, just.

Speaker 12 (24:58):
The first week in proparaly you're sure obviously, how do
you sort of build on that.

Speaker 7 (25:02):
With a second to play or somewhere else where you
get you.

Speaker 9 (25:05):
Say, relationship that you how with him?

Speaker 3 (25:06):
With the chemistry you.

Speaker 15 (25:07):
Got to try?

Speaker 13 (25:08):
Oh yeah, just keep working on that chemist Street, Just
keep building, Just keep saying speaking on what I see
out there when you see out there, and just do
what the coaches acts, cause you feel like the timeline is.

Speaker 20 (25:18):
Any different, like when you're trying to build a connection
in the regular season compared to any training camp or.

Speaker 15 (25:23):
Uh in the pre season.

Speaker 6 (25:25):
Your uh yeah, it's different.

Speaker 13 (25:26):
You know during training camp you got more time than
you got, uh more rep to execute. You know, during
the season you know that that's shortened, so it's limited.

Speaker 5 (25:37):
But m seem more like yourself today than you did
a week ago. Just the win that got you back
up smiling on again.

Speaker 13 (25:46):
I mean, I do play football, but you know half
outside of that, so it's great.

Speaker 6 (25:52):
Yeah, football not on anything.

Speaker 15 (25:53):
I do you really think?

Speaker 1 (25:55):
Sure?

Speaker 21 (25:56):
You know if you throughout your career have gone through
seasons where there's been a lot of quarterback changes and
multiple quarterbacks in a season, and I guess at this
point in your career, how do you handle that as
a receiver and an adapt.

Speaker 13 (26:08):
To a new guy back there by just keep being me.
I ain't ain't none, I can't I can't do nothing.
I can't cutch your nhing but myself, honestly, I just
keep running routes, you.

Speaker 6 (26:20):
Know, get open and do it.

Speaker 15 (26:22):
That's all I could do.

Speaker 6 (26:23):
I can't really with your nothing else.

Speaker 10 (26:25):
I know some of the other receivers were talking before
Shooters first start.

Speaker 9 (26:28):
That they thought the the pass was gonna be part
of this scale.

Speaker 10 (26:31):
Yeah, man, after seeing that first start, do you feel
like that's gonna be something every week?

Speaker 3 (26:36):
And it?

Speaker 9 (26:36):
You can you you can't take part in that.

Speaker 6 (26:38):
Or appreciate that.

Speaker 13 (26:39):
Yeah, we gonna a We ain't gonna give out the
game plan now. But you wanna see saying you wanna
see saying when there's a big play.

Speaker 14 (26:46):
In the in the game Mike on Sunday sixty two
yard or Ty say just that injection it not like into.

Speaker 8 (26:55):
The offense and in the event, just.

Speaker 9 (26:57):
Seeing some of the reaction on TV.

Speaker 10 (26:59):
Uh after that.

Speaker 13 (27:01):
Like that again you got nah, for sure give us momentum.
That was like third down, uh, third down, so we
needed that. It was like fifty two we needed at
so we got it. It gave us momentum. We got
down there, we scored a touchdown. Now it was out
what seven zip? You know, so, hey, you need that.

Speaker 19 (27:18):
Miles was striking about, uh, the fact that when you
guys have to win.

Speaker 8 (27:22):
Out now and he's still talking the Steam club that
you guys still down.

Speaker 7 (27:27):
But if you just play what what are your thoughts
on that?

Speaker 15 (27:30):
Yeah?

Speaker 13 (27:31):
Of course, uh, you know we still got what five,
six game left, six game left. You know, we just
gotta finish strong and hopefully we you got get a
chance to play in the playoffs.

Speaker 9 (27:41):
Kind of old when you look at the Niners defense,
which stands out to you, you.

Speaker 13 (27:48):
Know, uh, great defense, real physical, that's e sence. Uh.

Speaker 15 (27:52):
You know, they got some.

Speaker 13 (27:53):
Guys hurt in the in the d line, in the
line backer room. But you know, overall good defense. They've
been a good defense for a long time now, you know.

Speaker 9 (28:01):
But yeah, good, Well, sure did handled everything that came
with that first start.

Speaker 7 (28:10):
But I mean, you know, kind of popular he is, what.

Speaker 6 (28:13):
The big name is.

Speaker 9 (28:13):
How do you see him handle everything preceding that starting?

Speaker 3 (28:17):
Man?

Speaker 6 (28:17):
How he played on Sunday?

Speaker 13 (28:19):
Uh, you know, I think he handed it pretty good.
You know, it was his first games apparently hit for
a game with hit for half, so you know he
did brush that off. Ready to came, came into work
this week, well last week, you know.

Speaker 6 (28:33):
He did what he needed to do. Next.

Speaker 1 (28:34):
His offensive guard Joel Buttonio, who was nominated for the
Art Rooney Sportsmanship Award this week, I.

Speaker 10 (28:40):
Was ready to do Thursday. Apparently you guys are coming
in tomorrow, No work, you mean, I'll be here, but
I guess we're going today early.

Speaker 9 (28:47):
Yeah, did you practice your sportsmanship?

Speaker 5 (28:52):
No?

Speaker 10 (28:52):
I think over time, you know, it just kind of
builds up. You know, you have a relationship with guys
and things like that. But it's always cool to be
nominated for something, you know. I think you played the
game the right way without having to, you know, talk
too much or do anything too crazy, and just kind
of play the game, you know, the right way.

Speaker 9 (29:16):
Little how as the way you go on plays deep passing.
I was at the atandam gives the offense.

Speaker 6 (29:26):
Yeah, I think those big plays we saw.

Speaker 10 (29:28):
I think we had three pretty explosive pass plays, which
you haven't had a few weeks.

Speaker 6 (29:33):
We're huge for us.

Speaker 10 (29:34):
Obviously one got us way down there, one scored a touchdown,
and you know one obviously we fumbled, but it.

Speaker 6 (29:40):
Was still a big play. Like you saw that the
shot play.

Speaker 10 (29:43):
Potential and anytime like as an offense you're kind of struggling,
forty fifty yard plays are going to help the offense out.
And I definitely think that was something we've been missing.
So it was a big part of it, and I
think it led to some obviously led to a couple.

Speaker 15 (29:56):
Of sports for us and and you can bill alize
that like that was not a one long.

Speaker 6 (30:00):
Yeah, yeah, I'm no.

Speaker 10 (30:01):
I think that's part of his game, like you saw
it in college, Like he makes plays, he moves around
the block. I mean that that throw, like in the moment,
I didn't even know, I'm you're blocking somebody else. But
the hit he took, why you made that throw was
very impressive. But those are the plays I think you
saw flash in college that were like, all right, this
guy has some potential.

Speaker 6 (30:19):
To make those at the next level and and hopefully
we can keep building on it.

Speaker 5 (30:23):
There no big sack watches in the game, one in
one sack and that was one of the.

Speaker 7 (30:29):
Criticisms of him. How much work was put in eliminating those.

Speaker 6 (30:35):
Yeah, I think it was. It was talked about a lot.
The coaches stressed it a lot.

Speaker 10 (30:39):
As an on line, we talked about just block until
he like, you know, you can stress whatever you want,
but like until the balls throwing, like you still got
a block. You still got to understand your your assignment.
But I think she order did a great job of
getting the ball when he could. There was a quick
passing game and scrambling to make plays. You know, and
looking down field instead of kind of scrambling to you know,

(30:59):
go backwards. And I thought all those things were huge
improvements this week. And the script of the game, like
we didn't have to draw back pass as much as
we've done in some of the other games.

Speaker 6 (31:08):
But it was great.

Speaker 10 (31:09):
I think he worked on it tremendously and hopefully we
continue to emphasize it and continue to protect.

Speaker 7 (31:14):
Him on sacks actually moving up the.

Speaker 10 (31:16):
Buck Yeah, he was climbing, he was trying to escape
out the left side. So yeah, I think I think
it was great improvement Jim.

Speaker 21 (31:24):
This Niners defense, I mean, I know know Bosa are Prednumbords,
Like how how good are they still even without those
bigger names that have.

Speaker 7 (31:32):
Obviously seen in the past.

Speaker 10 (31:33):
Yeah, I mean they're they're eight and four, I think
as a team, like they're playing like what I watched
Money and obviously Live then I rewatched the film and
it's just like I think coach Sala has like just
programmed them, like they replace guys, they plug and play
them and they just play hard. Like you said, there
might not be as big as names as you know, obviously,
we have a lot of respect for friend and Bosa,
but they they're playing well, and they're playing at a

(31:56):
high level, and and.

Speaker 6 (31:57):
You know, I'm sure they would want those guys. But
I think it's it's a credit to their.

Speaker 10 (32:01):
Culture and the way they're coach that the guys that
have come in just just play hard, play the right way,
are going to do their assignment.

Speaker 6 (32:06):
And they're still a very tough out.

Speaker 21 (32:08):
And what about does the fact I think they're either
at the very bottom of the league in terms of
sacks or want it like the bottom two, Like, I'm
sure they still have to be alert.

Speaker 10 (32:16):
Go oh yeah, I mean they don't pressure that much.
I think they're used to, you know, having Bosa and
they had a first round pick they got hurt as well.
I mean, those guys are are their pass rush guys,
so they don't pressure a whole lot comparative to other teams.
But they still run a lot of games a lot
of pressures. Even if they haven't gotten sacks, they've impacted
the quarterback and their coverage has been good enough where

(32:37):
you know, they haven't had to have too many to
you know, get the wins.

Speaker 9 (32:41):
So can effectively a couple of times you guys in
a goal line.

Speaker 10 (32:46):
Yeah, I think gives us an extra blocker. You know,
if you have one more guy in there, and usually
on the goal line there's a you know, b yov
ring your own walker for the running back and we
get an extra guy there. Man, I think teams are
afraid of you know, Q throwing the ball. They were
kind of cover one back there, which were expecting to
cover zero. Look and they played a little cover one,

(33:07):
so they were respecting the passing game too. But you know,
we've had a few packages out of it. It's been
it's been successful. I think it just gives an extra
body in there. And you know, when you only have
two or three plays out of it, so you can
really rep those and understand what looks you're gonna get.

Speaker 9 (33:20):
Is that something you can have every week or is
it better when you bring it.

Speaker 10 (33:24):
Out every z I think if you change up having
a few wrinkles, like, I think it's something that you
want to have and want to be successful, especially in
like goal line, red zone, short yard situations.

Speaker 6 (33:35):
You know, I don't know if.

Speaker 10 (33:36):
We'll go Miami Dolphins where they're running it, you know,
like twenty times a game, every game, but you know,
having those options I think helps open our offensive.

Speaker 12 (33:45):
Julie, You're used to quarterback changes during the season, and
it's obviously.

Speaker 9 (33:49):
Give them more like a training camp and stuff. You
have more times where you kish sway, How is it
different during the season and how much.

Speaker 7 (33:56):
More can another week of short more for sure? How
much working you guys kind of get connected.

Speaker 10 (34:01):
On the same page another I can't think anytime you
continue to work with somebody, like the continuity's gonna grow.

Speaker 6 (34:10):
You know, in season, it almost forces it to have
it faster.

Speaker 10 (34:13):
And since you get all the walk through reps, you
get all the team practice reps, you get all the
game reps, Like a sixty play game is probably like
three days of training camp, you know what I mean.
So like it happens a lot quicker in season, and
I think the more you work at it, the more
comfort you're gonna filure and understand, like how he likes
to escape the pocket, what he's thinking, if you know
they get a certain rush, his cadences, all those things

(34:35):
are just going to continue.

Speaker 6 (34:36):
To grow with more and more experience.

Speaker 9 (34:38):
I know you're in the middle of it, but if
you get his size, the excitement that kind of surrounds
obviously it goes beyond me.

Speaker 10 (34:47):
Yeah, I mean I think I kind of said something
in the post game about like, obviously his dad is,
you know, one of the best players ever, and he's
been in the limelight his whole life, and I think
people have been curious since he was in highest school
what he's going to do at college, where he went
to school, all those things. So it's an experience that
that people want to be a part of. And then
I think his personality, you know, he has a little

(35:09):
bit of excitement that comes with it. And you know,
I think the plays he made you win a football game,
like we've been fine to win on the road, Like
all those things add up, and we just want to
continue to grow around him and help him, you know,
as much as we can.

Speaker 2 (35:22):
Joll Like, I know one of the things you've talked
about is obviously offensively, you know, you guys want to
play complimentary.

Speaker 9 (35:28):
And hold up your out of the party. But how
does it affect you guys that you know.

Speaker 6 (35:31):
You have the defense is going to get you the
ball back? Like, how does that impact? Yeah, it's great.

Speaker 10 (35:36):
I think as a play caller, you know, I think
it has an effect there where it's like you might
have to go forward in search situations. But a game
like last week, they're like, I don't think they're gonna
score on us three times, Like you know our defense
is gonna step up and make plays there. You know,
we don't, We don't want to rely on it, but
we understand like they've made plays for us all year
and they've they've done some some amazing things.

Speaker 6 (35:58):
So we're folks on ourselves.

Speaker 10 (36:00):
I think, you know, sometimes it's okay to punt, you
know what I mean, Like if you're playing the field
position battle and it's like, do we need to take
a huge risk on third and fifteen here, or is
it a way you know we we try to draw
or screen and we're not turning the ball over, we're
putting it back. And Corey's been a great punter for us.
So I think all those things, you know, have effect
to playing that complimentary football.

Speaker 1 (36:20):
Finally, safety Grant delp It talked about the pre snap
motion that the forty nine ers use to try and
confuse opposing defenses.

Speaker 9 (36:26):
Forty nine ers, I think are in the second League
and in resnap motion.

Speaker 14 (36:30):
And that you really utilize that to sort of get
into a lot of what they want to do and
just how much is that of sis for you guys
go to ball for certain things and go.

Speaker 18 (36:38):
Kind of what you're looking at when they are Yeah,
we you know, everybody thinking that we league knows like
that West Coast offense. You know, it's a lot of motions.
They try to get your eyes in the wrong places.
They try to get favorable, favorable looks for their you
know what they're looking for. So just read about reading
your keys and staying in tune with what Jim want
us to do.

Speaker 7 (37:00):
The defensity set a bar like.

Speaker 18 (37:03):
Yeah, uh, it's probably a little bit too many passing yards, right,
but uh, with ten sacks, you can't complain. I think
that we got a monster d line. They they they
attack relentless. You know, you watch the tape, it's it's
a it's it's amazing to see the type of uh
attitude and and you know, like just pure you wanna

(37:24):
get to the ball as they do.

Speaker 15 (37:26):
So playing behind them is fun to say the least, No.

Speaker 21 (37:29):
Three what's it like a real time to see when
those cause are hitting the quarterback twenty times, hitting those
tun sacks and like, I mean, Miles has three sacks,
but it's m you know, kind of coming from everywhere
or on the headline the production. What's that like where
where you reys?

Speaker 8 (37:42):
Yeah?

Speaker 18 (37:43):
I different, Yeah, yeah, it's like, uh it's some st
stand still pictures of like like sacking Genos. It's crazy,
like the look on his you know, like, I don't
know what I would do if I've seen Miles and
them coming towards me a lot, I'd probably do way
worse than what they doing. But man, I'm dudes, like
attacking you know, Miles is you know, we all know

(38:04):
what Myles is doing. Uh So I think that makes
our job easier in the back.

Speaker 8 (38:08):
End, talking about uh, after your attracted like a backhand,
you guys, you need to do it out and you
know everything is.

Speaker 13 (38:18):
Still there for you.

Speaker 19 (38:19):
What do you feel like in mindset in there a
lot more movies.

Speaker 8 (38:22):
I mean to hear that on the outside of the
working okay, h And then what what do you guys
really believe about what years in college?

Speaker 6 (38:32):
Yeah?

Speaker 18 (38:32):
I mean, obviously we gotta play well throughout the rest
of the year if we wanna continue playing after these
six weeks. So you know, I think that it's just
all about catching uh oh, the doing doing whatever we
could do, you know, to make sure that our offense
is in the right situation to get the ball back.

(38:53):
Due we came defense, Do we continue to do what
we been doing?

Speaker 8 (38:56):
Yeah?

Speaker 18 (38:57):
You know, uh, having that relentless mind instead of just
attacking that's all we can do.

Speaker 11 (39:03):
Has you guys just played hard all year? But the
game Shador had and what he showed up he get
down offense. Has that even edit re entertied, energized you
guys more.

Speaker 18 (39:17):
Yeah, I think that dude, man Schador got like you know,
a crazy fan. Basically he got the he got the
spark to start him and and all that, and uh,
he's popping it right now. So I just telling him,
keep popping in, man, keep doing what he's doing. And
you know, you know we got we got we got
you on defense, so we're gonna get you that ball back.
And you know, keep riding the energy, man, cause we

(39:38):
needed Grantland.

Speaker 9 (39:40):
You're when you're in a game like that, you got
that lead.

Speaker 21 (39:43):
How much fun is that?

Speaker 9 (39:44):
Cause you guys haven't had the opportunity.

Speaker 6 (39:45):
Yeah, I should just go out.

Speaker 9 (39:46):
There and you know, the line or the stack up sacks,
you guys probably.

Speaker 7 (39:50):
Going football a little more helpful.

Speaker 15 (39:52):
Yeah, No, it's funny.

Speaker 18 (39:53):
You know, I didn't even notice we played eighty plays
until until looked at the iPath of the game.

Speaker 6 (39:59):
But you know, it's fun when when.

Speaker 15 (40:03):
When you making players to say the least.

Speaker 18 (40:05):
Uh, I just look at it as extra opportunity, you know,
go out there and get some get some splash plays
and uh.

Speaker 6 (40:13):
You know, rack and rack, rack 'em up.

Speaker 9 (40:14):
Do you think you're repeating yourself?

Speaker 5 (40:16):
Up?

Speaker 6 (40:16):
Man?

Speaker 18 (40:18):
I told 'em my Malik I gave I think Malik
leading the d tackles in sacks this yere. Yeah, yeah,
I gave 'em once.

Speaker 15 (40:22):
So y'all make sure to remind 'em of that one.

Speaker 9 (40:25):
And it certainly looks like the offense.

Speaker 6 (40:27):
You know, can you talk shit energy or when you
still on Sunday, you know, like what we.

Speaker 9 (40:32):
Saw Mole's reaction on the sideline after and all that,
and like how much when.

Speaker 12 (40:36):
You guys defensive side that energy is to brings the team?

Speaker 7 (40:40):
How much when you guys offense?

Speaker 18 (40:43):
Yeah, I think, uh, and on defense we've had I
feel like we've had that energy for the past couple
you know years, Like you know, obviously new faces on offense,
like you know, Chubb didn't really say much. You know,
but you still making plays. Uh, you know, flat old
then wasn't saying much. But you know, new guys like
Q hyping the crowd up, taking time at all. Uh,
it's you door, same type of energy. I think that's

(41:06):
gonna be good for the team and hopefully it's contagious.

Speaker 21 (41:09):
Great when you go to the Niners and their offense,
like what kind of unequal challenges and maccaffery your.

Speaker 15 (41:14):
Neighbors succeed him?

Speaker 18 (41:15):
Yeah, yeah, h McCaffrey great player. Uh, good short area,
you know, quick, subtle moves that make you miss. I
think he got like eight hundred receiving yards, eight hundred
rushing yards. So obviously he's the the best player on
offense and he's gonna be a challenge to stop.

Speaker 7 (41:33):
So see your dangers is a receiver or.

Speaker 6 (41:37):
Look pretty balanced?

Speaker 15 (41:38):
Right?

Speaker 16 (41:38):
You know?

Speaker 18 (41:38):
Uh, I think he's pretty balanced player.

Speaker 8 (41:42):
Uh.

Speaker 18 (41:43):
You just gotta you know, you gotta attack him, get
on him, get on him pretty fast, and not give
him that space to work.

Speaker 7 (41:48):
What area of the defense does running challenge? Receiving your pretectular?
Is that falling the safeties the linebackers?

Speaker 6 (42:00):
Yeah, I mean it depends on the call.

Speaker 18 (42:01):
Just the you know, we know they're gonna try to
find the right match up for him, but just having
that uh versatility all over the defense so that we
know that any play, you know, anybody could be matched
up on him.

Speaker 7 (42:12):
Yeah, Monday night from we gotta take more.

Speaker 11 (42:15):
So Monday night.

Speaker 7 (42:17):
Proud you have really against.

Speaker 12 (42:19):
The fans, but they had any sacks they I think
on the quarterback team. I see y'all stations A line
is you know, I it's one to kill the press
on what quarterback kind of you How does that impact
to all us off as a secondary?

Speaker 7 (42:33):
Yeah?

Speaker 18 (42:34):
Uh think you know he's he's get back to the
swiinth he had the toe injury. Uh so you know
the three picks on Monday, you know, I obviously they
looking at him trying to correct that.

Speaker 8 (42:45):
So uh.

Speaker 10 (42:47):
Yeah, I don't know.

Speaker 18 (42:48):
I it's not easy going against our d line. So hopefully,
you know, we get a lot of prussure and kind
of force him in some of the similar situations and
take advantage in the back end.

Speaker 7 (42:57):
Do you remember when they came in here on the
field of two years Yeah.

Speaker 15 (43:01):
I was there. Yeah, I was there.

Speaker 18 (43:04):
They're not undefeated no more, but it's still gonna be
a high Energy game.

Speaker 15 (43:08):
It's a lot of lot writing on this game for
both teams.

Speaker 1 (43:10):
