Speaker 1 (00:05):
Welcome to this week fifteen Wednesday edition of the From
the Podium podcast. I'm Gabe Koleura. It's install day at
the Cross Country Mortgage Campus as the Browns begin preparations
to take on the Chicago Bears at Soldier Field this
coming Sunday. On this episode, you'll hear from head coach
Kevin Stefanski, quarterback should Or Sanders, wide receiver Jerry Judy,
and quarterback Denzel Ward. Start with head coach Kevin Stefanski,
who talked about the unique skill set of quarterback Caleb Williams.

Speaker 2 (00:27):
Okay, really good opponent this week on the road, Chicago Bears.

Speaker 3 (00:31):
Obviously they're doing a great job.

Speaker 2 (00:32):
They're plus seventeen in turnover margin, which is obviously that
leads the league and is a great formula for winning.
I think Ben's doing an outstanding job with that group.
They're doing a lot of things really really well. Offensively,
the ability to run the ball, their play actions a
huge challenge. Defensively, like I mentioned, taking the ball away
at the highest clip in the league, playing really well.

(00:55):
Dennis Allen, their defense coordinator, somebody have a ton of
respect for special teams.

Speaker 3 (00:59):
Coach h Tower does a great job with their group.

Speaker 2 (01:01):
So I'm gonna have to really have a good week
of practice to get ready for this scheme that we're
going up against.

Speaker 3 (01:07):
Weather will be.

Speaker 2 (01:08):
A factor with the temperature as you would expect in
December and Chicago, so we'll work through that as well.
We've had a ton of weather here in the last
couple weeks as well. So with that, I'll take any questions.

Speaker 4 (01:19):
And you mentioned that's turnover margin and they leave the
NFL and interceptions of just how are they able to
generate so many picks and what's maybe the coaching points
first or this.

Speaker 2 (01:28):
Weekend, Well, I think they have some players without standing
ball skills and anticipatory skills to go to football's they're
playing in their zone defense very visual on the quarterback.
So with any quarterback, young quarterback, old quarterback, you have
to do a great job with your eyes. You have
to trust what you see when you're looking at them,
and obviously king defenders knowing where our guys are, you

(01:51):
have to key their defenders and understand where they are,
especially in their zones for and of the.

Speaker 5 (01:57):
Interception Sunday like mentally, and then how impress the fact
that he's able to bounce.

Speaker 2 (02:01):
Back, and yeah, he does a great job. And you
have to as a quarterback have a very short memory.
There's that's an occupational hazard that those things are going
to happen. You learn from it, you try to prevent
it and and learn from those type of things. But
you got to bounce back, and he did.

Speaker 6 (02:17):
The injury list today, is anybody ruled out at this point.

Speaker 3 (02:20):
I wouldn't rule anybody out. No.

Speaker 7 (02:23):
About their rushing attack with swift and longuy and how
how important is that for the defense to bounce.

Speaker 6 (02:29):
Back after this pass world.

Speaker 2 (02:31):
It's a great rush attack, not just the runners who
are very very, very good, but the offensive line, the
tight ends, the receivers all blocked.

Speaker 3 (02:37):
So it's a good scheme.

Speaker 2 (02:39):
They have various schemes that they can get to, whether
it's his zone game or the gap scheme game. The
runners are dangerous and that they have the ability on
the perimeter they can run between the tackles. So it's
a huge challenge for our defense and obviously it's a
huge focus for us going in this game there for.

Speaker 8 (02:56):
When it's going to be this cold. I mean, I've
seen you know, windshiels me be in the minus twenties
and attempts and the single digits and.

Speaker 6 (03:04):
How do you prep.

Speaker 2 (03:05):
Yeah, I think we deal with elements, Mary kay and
and all these games.

Speaker 3 (03:08):
Sometimes it's wins.

Speaker 2 (03:09):
Sometimes it's rain, it's snow, it's it's cold, it's it's
the same for both teams. Sometimes it can have an
effect on the kicking game and how the ball travels,
that type of thing. But you deal with elements regardless
of whether it's really really hot or really really cold.

Speaker 9 (03:25):
You said on Mummy that wife Color will not play.

Speaker 3 (03:28):
Sorry, I can rule wide out.

Speaker 6 (03:30):
Yes. Their run game.

Speaker 5 (03:32):
And the struggles you guys had Sunday, What do you
think is the number one thing you need to fix?

Speaker 6 (03:37):
And you didn't do well against the Titans.

Speaker 2 (03:38):
I think you'll always hear me and Jim and our
defensive staff talking about getting back to the basics and
being true to the scheme and playing with the proper
technique and with great effort. It's it's oftentimes not very elaborate.
We just have to do our job and use our
technique and play with great effort.

Speaker 5 (03:57):
So Hayla Williams also in the Grand Games US like
a lot kind of that duality of his skill set present.

Speaker 6 (04:04):
Challenges for you guys.

Speaker 2 (04:06):
He's a really really good young player. He's can make
a ton of plays both on schedule and off schedule
as elite arm talent to throw the ball around around
the field.

Speaker 3 (04:17):
And then to your.

Speaker 2 (04:18):
Point, Kelsey, he can really get He's very elusive, extremely elusive.
He can get out of pocket, to the left, to
the right, vertical in the pocket. He's a hard guy
to bring down and that adds another element to their
team and in this case, their run offense.

Speaker 9 (04:34):
Quantify the progress that Chador made while he was doing
those practice at the end of practice and and.

Speaker 2 (04:46):
The meetings with you and everything, No, I mean, I
don't think you can quantify development with all of our players.

Speaker 3 (04:53):
We have a development plan.

Speaker 2 (04:54):
That we feel strongly about and like I think I
mentioned you guys before, what's great about our young class
Shador in this case, our entire rookie classes.

Speaker 3 (05:03):
These guys want to get better.

Speaker 2 (05:05):
And as coaches, as teachers, you have guys that are
putting in all the effort to improve in a ton
of areas, whether it's classroom scheme, technique, footwork, hand placement,
et cetera, et cetera. I think all these guys are
making strides just because they're devoted to their development.

Speaker 10 (05:23):
Can you with a rookie quarterback, can you tell, like
when you're having conversations with them, you know, going over
can you tell in those conversations the moment.

Speaker 6 (05:32):
When sort of the light bulb is really.

Speaker 10 (05:34):
Sort of starting, you know, when it's all starting to
connect with them, regardless of which you know what's working on.

Speaker 3 (05:42):
I do think there's to your point, there's a.

Speaker 2 (05:45):
Maturation throughout a rookies first year, and it definitely starts
in the spring and mass mastering the offensive system and
those type of things, and then you try to start
to master the defense systems.

Speaker 3 (06:00):
And you know, we've talked a lot.

Speaker 2 (06:02):
Each week you're going up against a completely different defense,
with defense with different rules for their coverages, different pressure packages,
so we have different rules in our protection.

Speaker 3 (06:12):
So all of that, I think for young.

Speaker 2 (06:15):
Quarterbacks is is really important to continue to develop in
those regular season game plan weeks as you go. But
in terms of light turning on those type of things,
I just think he's committed to getting better.

Speaker 3 (06:29):
Every single week and that's what you want.

Speaker 11 (06:32):
You think, so well, off platform is even harder for him,
and I don't want to say, the breaking of the
habit of you know, surviving for another down or throwing
the ball away, those kinds of things. Because he was
a playmaker, is it tougher to kind of get him
to not necessarily buy into that, but.

Speaker 6 (06:45):
To play that way.

Speaker 2 (06:46):
Well, I think you look around the league, Tom, and
there's a lot of quarterbacks that have always made plays
outside the structure of their offense, from when they were
young to when they get to the pros. And you
never want to take that away from a player. And
Shador has a ability to make plays off schedule, So
that's something that you certainly want to promote and enhance

(07:10):
and get the team playing to that style as well.
You also want to make it easy for your quarterback
when you can and when you can get those completions
on time and play within the rhythm of the offense.
That makes you really difficult to defend as a quarterback.
But you never want to take away that ability to
make plays off schedule.

Speaker 10 (07:29):
Off of that, going back to Kaler, just what's unique
about the way the Bears and him specifically, what they
do to you know, to you know, kind of maximize
that ability to operate.

Speaker 2 (07:42):
On well, He's terrific off schedule. He's also really good
on schedule as well. And they run the ball at
a very high clip, they have play action at a
high clip. So those are they're putting the quarterback in
advantageous spots in a lot of their offense. And he
does have the ability, like we're talking about with tomm
he does have the ability then when it's not there

(08:03):
to be elusive, get outside the pocket and make a play.

Speaker 5 (08:06):
About Harold A lot to you, But how impress you've
been with his consistency doesn't seem like to do a
lot of helps Dobbs.

Speaker 2 (08:14):
Yeah, very impressed, And we've been talking about him really
since he got here, just in his attitude, keeps his
head down, works really hard. We ask a lot of
him in this offense in terms of playing different positions,
doing different jobs, So that versatility is something he possesses
and that that doesn't just happen, that comes from hard work.

(08:35):
So I give Harold a ton of credit. I give
Christian Jones his coach, a ton of credit for the
work that they've put in.

Speaker 12 (08:42):
The Bears basically rebuilt their offensive line in one offseason.

Speaker 6 (08:46):
Do you think that as easy to do as they've
shown or.

Speaker 2 (08:53):
Yeah, I can't speak to difficult part of it, Tony.

Speaker 3 (08:57):
I just tell you that they've done.

Speaker 2 (08:58):
A nice job, that those guys it's fit for what
they're asking of their guys, that they got some talented players.

Speaker 8 (09:06):
Because Shador has demonstrated such elusiveness, can you guys add
a little bit more movement into the game plan maybe
than you if originally intended to with him.

Speaker 2 (09:18):
I think there's definitely ways to move the quarterback on
schedule and part of your system, and we've certainly done
some of that and you can grow that as well.
But I do think it's always gonna be a balance
of giving the quarterback structure, giving him answers, giving him
you know, easy buttons if you will. But then a
lot of quarterbacks around the league, and some of the

(09:40):
great ones you see them their ability to make plays
off schedule, when, as coach Musk would say, when the
chalk runs out on the chalkboard, you know, that's really hard.
It's a hard It's a trait that not many people possess.

Speaker 4 (09:54):
Questions when did your room ard injure his shoulder? And
then Malachoch Qualley wasn't on the pre practice report so
that IR situation.

Speaker 2 (10:01):
The what IR situation on the compartition for it'll he'll
practice limited today, correct? And then what was the first
part you asked? Yeah, I think the injury happened during
the game. Unfortunate. Obviously, he had played a really good
role for us throughout the season.

Speaker 13 (10:21):
Unique about Carson that makes him so able to find
the ball, be around the ball, to make those tackles.

Speaker 2 (10:32):
I don't know if there's any there's a lot of
things that are unique about him. When you're playing like
he's playing and at that age and his experience, it's
pretty unique and very impressive.

Speaker 3 (10:42):
Uh. I think it's a great combination.

Speaker 2 (10:44):
Cam of a guy that has really really impressive physical tools.
I mean his ability to run and tackle and drop
in in the past game. Uh, it's he's got great
physical skills and then the cerebral nature and the way
in which he plays not I wouldn't say a lot
of young players possess that type of ability. Again, credit

(11:07):
to the young man, credit to coach Tarvor, how quickly
he's gotten up to speed in that area.

Speaker 14 (11:13):
As an offensive mind yourself, just what stands out most
about like Ben Johnson, the system he runs we've seen
his office, especially in Detroit.

Speaker 6 (11:22):
He's so effective and he's probably a lot of that
over to Chicago.

Speaker 14 (11:25):
Just how challenging is it to gain money?

Speaker 2 (11:27):
Yeah, Ben's done a great job. I don't know Ben well,
but I've known him for a bit here. He worked
for Darryl Bevill when he was a young QC in Detroit,
so we have we can share bev stories. You know,
that's a tough way to be raised in this business.
But he's always admired the scheme in which they play.

(11:47):
I think that he does a great job of marrying
the run in the pass, and I think he's utilizing
the personnel really well there in Chicago.

Speaker 10 (11:56):
With quarterbacks who make those off schedule plays you were
talking about, sometimes there's some some no no yes in there.

Speaker 2 (12:02):
How do you how do you get comfortable with trusting
their instincts?

Speaker 3 (12:05):
Yeah, I think you know.

Speaker 2 (12:05):
I'd point to the play that Shador had at the
UH We had the big interception by Devin third down.
It ends up being incomplete, but he scrambled around, was
looking to make a play, nobody wiggled open, and he
threw the.

Speaker 3 (12:20):
Ball away and we got points out of that.

Speaker 2 (12:22):
I think that's that's good progress for a young quarterback
to to. You have to know that that's a fine
line of I'm trying to make a play for my
football team and and I'm also going to be smart
here because I have points and you learn that from playing,
you learn that from being in these games. And I
think he's making progress.

Speaker 8 (12:40):
There taking a crazy amount of criticism for taking shador
off on it and two point com version. I know
when we've talked about this, but I mean it's like
off the charts.

Speaker 6 (12:53):
Are you aware of it?

Speaker 3 (12:54):
Are you impervious to it?

Speaker 8 (12:55):
Do you block it out?

Speaker 6 (12:56):
Or what's your responsive? Yeah?

Speaker 2 (12:57):
I mean I think in my position, Mary kay you
you you're Everything you do that doesn't work will be criticized.
That's the nature of this beast. Well, I'll constantly try
to do what's best for the football team.

Speaker 3 (13:09):
Okay, thanks guys.

Speaker 1 (13:10):
Quarterbacks do whurg Sanders is our first player up and
in Week fourteen, he became the first rookie to pass
for over three hundred yards this season in the game.

Speaker 15 (13:17):
Jeffers Simmons after.

Speaker 4 (13:20):
The game, yeah, saying, you know, physics sized team now
is going to be saying this league only can you
start sounding backers and me and you.

Speaker 6 (13:26):
Just got to bring that respect already from.

Speaker 10 (13:28):
From the league.

Speaker 16 (13:29):
Well, Jeffers Simmons, he is a great player, of course,
and he he bring he bring the energy in the game,
and uh I respect him of course going into the
game and even after the game and everything. Uh that
he's the competitor he is. And I was just excited,
you know, to have that experience to be able to
play against him.

Speaker 17 (13:47):
You know, one of the best Kevin Off you're.

Speaker 15 (13:51):
Going to get to start obviously, you know what should
be twenty sixties and the making the team should consider
like doing things.

Speaker 16 (14:05):
Yeah, that's a long, deep thought, like that's not in
my focus. My focus right now is the team of
playing ahead to bear. So anything past that I'm not
really focused on. Honestly, I'm thankful for it, but I'm
not content, you know with my situation with everything and
we're leading this team.

Speaker 3 (14:24):
Sure, what you have to focus on.

Speaker 6 (14:34):
The situation.

Speaker 16 (14:36):
I think when you approach it any week, I don't
think the intent is to ever throw interception, so U
I don't think that's statistic.

Speaker 17 (14:44):
You know.

Speaker 16 (14:44):
Let you know that they're good, they're a good team.
But I think when you approach each and every week.
I think, uh, you know that the defenders are capable
of catching an interception and what you see, Yeah, definitely
h he He's definitely a vet. We spoke about him
here and he's obviously a great player. Been around the

(15:07):
league for a minute, so I've definitely a lot of
respect for him.

Speaker 13 (15:10):
She grew up before you even got your or talked
about wanting to or where your footwork is one of
the areas you're being coming into the LEA.

Speaker 3 (15:18):
Your coaches have kind of praised you or.

Speaker 13 (15:20):
Yours for showing coach and we're wint in that regard.
What does that look like for you in terms of
working on that adjustice and things out there on the field,
and how comfortable do you feel after bringing research?

Speaker 8 (15:32):
Uh?

Speaker 16 (15:32):
I would say I feel the same. I feel the same, Uh.

Speaker 17 (15:38):
Since I first got here.

Speaker 16 (15:39):
You know, it's definitely y y you mentally, it's ups
and downs, it's different things, but I'll say consistently the same,
I I I I tend to stay and feel the same,
you know, uh. In college and now I think footwork
and I think all that ties into a lot. You know,
that ties into the trust, that ties into knowing where

(16:02):
you guys gonna be that ties into everything. So that's
where you see the improvement because that we had that
leap of faith you know this week, this past week, uh,
with knowing that the receiver is gonna be in the
right place is looking at everybody in the eyes saying
I'm ana beat there, I got you building that foundation,
building that trust so when everything like when when when

(16:25):
I trust, then then then you get the best out
of me.

Speaker 17 (16:27):
You get what I'm saying. It's hard.

Speaker 16 (16:29):
It's hard for me as a player to not uh
not trust things and play my best. So I'm just
thankful that we built those relationships that quickly within the
receiver room and within the team and with you the
line and everything. But uh, we're not content what allowed
you to take God.

Speaker 6 (16:51):
Mentioned and scrambling around looking at them? How do you
decide when it's time to.

Speaker 17 (16:59):
Just how I decide?

Speaker 16 (17:03):
When I would say, I would say like whenever the
plays over. Sometimes sometimes you're getting situations where you gotta
understand the play over. And I'm improving. I'm improving in that.
You know, I had a little slip up last week
for sure, and knowing that plays over, but like I
don't know in those situations sometimes it's just like I

(17:26):
want to win so bad, you know, I want to
I want to make something happen whenever we're stagnant and
stuff like that. So just learning like from the week
before when when when I took a sack that got
us out of field goal position. I learned from that
and I was like, okay, knowing where we are in
the field, understanding like okay, I tried my first thing,

(17:48):
it don't work. Get it out, you know, Like, so
then I won't negatively affect the team.

Speaker 6 (17:53):
Two years of Colorado.

Speaker 2 (17:55):
But what do you think about Man's fifteen win child
in Chicago expected for Sunday.

Speaker 16 (18:00):
Honestly, I'm not I I'm focused on these plays right now.
Whenever that happens, that happens, you know, I I don't
I y. One thing you don't wanna be is mentally
defeated before you get there. You know, whatever whatever comes
with how it it feels out there, just comes with it.
You know, we could prepare the best we can and
do everything we can to bundle up. I know, you

(18:21):
see the two sleeves I'm wearing now.

Speaker 17 (18:23):
So you definitely had to change the style a little bit.
To make sure I stay.

Speaker 18 (18:28):
Worn wol ability, especially on how person for you to
But you mentioned before break those happens and like survive
for the next time.

Speaker 17 (18:41):
Not hard, not hard.

Speaker 16 (18:44):
It just it just took just.

Speaker 17 (18:47):
Just took a little explaining. That's it. It's a negative
thing that happened for me. It's just slow down, you know.

Speaker 16 (18:54):
But uh nah, I I it's I look at everything
and I understand, Okay, this is what I was trying
to do in this you know, in this situation is
what you should do.

Speaker 17 (19:02):
And sometimes it.

Speaker 6 (19:04):
Go your way.

Speaker 16 (19:05):
Then they'll be like that was lit and sometimes it don't.
So like you gotta limit those that that wasn't the
best risk, you know, in certain situations, certain times of
the game.

Speaker 1 (19:16):
I don't say your dad was gonna get mad at
you for the aspect, did he and look have advice?

Speaker 6 (19:22):
Did he get.

Speaker 17 (19:24):
Well?

Speaker 16 (19:25):
You got like during the game and everything. I always
hear I always hear his voice, you know, like in
my ear. You know, I'm like like in a certain situations,
certain everything, like in a lot of situations, and I know.

Speaker 17 (19:37):
His expectation for me. His expectation for me.

Speaker 16 (19:40):
Is the highest than anybody is, you know, So That's
where playing for him my whole life made it easier
to to to come and play anywhere else because his
expectation what he has done for self even being a
player where he understands quarterbacks and everything. So yeah, he

(20:01):
he he. Definitely, you know it is hard and definitely
hard on me. Definitely tell me, you know, get completions.
Definitely tell me, uh things like a recap of things
you know that I need to do better.

Speaker 7 (20:12):
Touchdown towards the end there when I guess like what's
going through your mind in that moment and how you
manage to to stay up and and everything.

Speaker 16 (20:21):
Uh, I always say, went through the reads it wasn't there,
and just try to make something happen. You know, when
we get in the red zone, we get in the
score zone, it's a different it's a different mental shape
you in. You know what I'm saying, Like, you trying
to do everything because the best, absolute worst thing you
know for us that could happen is to kick a

(20:43):
field goal. For the best thing for us is to
score every time. So when we get in that red zone,
it's definitely something we wanna be able to put up
points on the board and help our defense and help
Miles get that sack record.

Speaker 6 (20:55):
A couple more we.

Speaker 19 (20:57):
Saw you have a little of answer with Jeffrey Simmons
after after your touchdown. How much do you fly about
that dancer in the game, that gamesmanship of just like
going after the Athonites.

Speaker 16 (21:10):
Nah, Like you gotta understand that's my character. I'm not
I'm not one too. I'm not one to to do
that off rip like I I don't do that. I'm
not a person that ever try to put someone down,
try to ever like stunt flex on somebody, because like
it's no purpose, it don't it don't really help anything.

(21:31):
But I only do that when it was like initiated,
you get what I'm saying, and he's supposed to do that,
you know, like he's supposed to do that, you know,
to the crowd everything, uh, before we even scored and everything.
So it's just fun, you know, it's just fun. I
don't take anything personally. I know they don't because heat
a battle in this respecting on both sides. So that's

(21:52):
just in the game. I don't I don't really look
too deep in it. But if I'm initiated to do it,
then kind of like you leave me no choice.

Speaker 20 (22:03):
And Mary Kay and then were done.

Speaker 10 (22:05):
Of all your past receivers, you've seen your connected with
Fan and the most why.

Speaker 17 (22:10):
Is that he's just in the read he's open. I
don't think. I think.

Speaker 16 (22:19):
I think you gotta know everybody's skill setting, know what
they do well, and and part of that is still
positioning and having everybody fit your eye like it's a
cup pass to Herald I was a little later on.
He's still called it. He'll still able to make a
play in As time goes on, we'll be able to
build that trust, build the chemistry. We'll be able to
play at the same speed to play like with all

(22:40):
the guys. So it's kind of like matchups reads what
the defense is doing like that's so I tend to
want to throw the ball to whoever the defense isn't
really covering like that. It's not really Uh, he's my
favorite guy. Let me just throw it to him.

Speaker 6 (22:56):
That saw the video.

Speaker 5 (22:57):
You're talking to Cam after the game and he said,
talking about what you're doing in the off season, he said,
you're focused right now. Is that because your focus is
these final four games? And how important then to you
are these final four games?

Speaker 17 (23:10):
Uh? Motherfuckers, this is my life here, you know.

Speaker 16 (23:13):
So we're on two different were on two different spectrums
right now. You know, I gotta focus on playing my
best and being the best player I can for the team.
And and obviously the situations are different, so I uh,
and I know he puts his all into into these
games and he's final four games. But it's just a
little bit different, you know, cause you don't know what

(23:35):
could happen, you know, So I just go here and
enjoy my day, you know, work hard, do everything I can.
And if I'm here, I'm here. I'm not I'm not
like I I It's nothing in my control. So I
try to control what I can control. That's going out there,
making the right reads, going out there, doing the right things,
being the person I am, and uh, things will fall
how they're supposed to.

Speaker 17 (23:59):
The rest of the Yeah, he's.

Speaker 8 (24:02):
The first part of the question is just how you know,
I'm sure how point where you're about.

Speaker 6 (24:06):
That set you?

Speaker 8 (24:08):
And then yeah, how much chemistry do you already.

Speaker 16 (24:11):
Have with Looke and you guys. Yeah, yeah, look definitely
a hungry dolls. So we we we gotta we gotta
get that back connection going. Uh, but Ethan, Uh, definitely definitely.
I I it definitely hurt that that he was out
because the responsibility he took, you know, and in helping everybody,

(24:31):
uh whenever I was able to come in and uh
have that different level of comfort, you know. So I
truthfully hope I could play with him next year, and
I I hope, I hope he's around next year, you know,
I really do, but uh make sure I'm around to
next year. But uh nah lu lu Luke definitely ready

(24:53):
to step up and do what he gotta do, you know.
So I'm uh thankful that we do have that hungry
dog connection that we able to get out there and
and get out there and feel back to normal, you know,
like we are in a practice field. But yeah, Poe,
Yeah that hurt. That one for sure hurt because he's
definitely definitely cool down. The guy, always get here early,

(25:14):
always man by his business, and it's just unfortunate to
happen to him.

Speaker 1 (25:19):
Up next, wide receiver Jerry Judy, who caught a sixty
yard touchdown from shed Or Sanders against the Titans.

Speaker 8 (25:24):
She watched that touchdown a bunch of different times.

Speaker 15 (25:28):
Just what kind of a great throw was that?

Speaker 8 (25:31):
First of all from Farms and obviously could play by YouTube.

Speaker 6 (25:36):
Yeah, I mean, uh, it was a great throw.

Speaker 12 (25:39):
He anticipated, anticipated the window, you know, throw an accurate
pass and hit me on the run, you know, and
I did the rest.

Speaker 2 (25:45):
It looked like it looked like after you and your
celebration you have to put your hands over your ears
and your helmets. That does that mean anything like walking
out the noise or or something.

Speaker 12 (25:54):
No, it was just a celebration about this summer. Yeah,
And it was just I thought of it the moment.

Speaker 9 (26:01):
Hey, uh, Jerry, the weather's supposed to play bad in
in uh Chicago is at the footing or the uh.

Speaker 6 (26:09):
Temperature the win? What is the worst part about playing
and cold master year?

Speaker 12 (26:15):
I'll probably say the wind, Jerry.

Speaker 20 (26:19):
Uh.

Speaker 14 (26:20):
Kevin a down s this week that you when the
stars and the rest of the season.

Speaker 6 (26:23):
Just so, how valuable is out did you?

Speaker 4 (26:25):
Is your position as a receiver to no.

Speaker 6 (26:28):
In that position to stay and you can just kind
of with one guy?

Speaker 12 (26:33):
Yeah, you know, it's it's good just to have one
guy you could, you know, create that chemistry with you know,
Shodago finished out the season, you know, so yeah, it's
a good time to just build and consistently and learn
and right build together.

Speaker 13 (26:45):
It seems like coming out that.

Speaker 6 (26:48):
K quickly seeing things. The game is.

Speaker 9 (26:51):
Scrolling down for him, you know week by.

Speaker 6 (26:53):
Week ah where you see that?

Speaker 12 (26:55):
Yeah, yeah, I mean we by we he consistently growing,
you know, and consistently doing his thing, you know, so
cool as to him.

Speaker 18 (27:00):
One of the things he said he was improving on
is is knowing when to throw the ball with if
it if something's not there or I know it's not
as exciting, but how can you throwaways be good.

Speaker 6 (27:09):
For an offense to it?

Speaker 12 (27:11):
You know, it could help with like field management. You know,
you don't wanna be behind the sticks too much, too
much on the job, so you know, sometimes throw aways good.
It depends on the down and distance and what you
try to do.

Speaker 5 (27:22):
But your what have you seen out of Harold? All
your linement and he seems like he's been productive kind
of weekend.

Speaker 12 (27:27):
Aagether Yeah you know her Harold a uh a very
smart tight end. I know how to create separation and
get open and also good in the run game.

Speaker 3 (27:36):
So he a, he is a tight end.

Speaker 17 (27:37):
I know how to do it at all.

Speaker 12 (27:38):
You know, you know he's a rookie, but he don't
really seem like a rookie by the way he n
understands a game and plays.

Speaker 10 (27:44):
That's like, here's you have the league.

Speaker 8 (27:47):
The league, the steam years to come get into this game.

Speaker 6 (27:52):
What can you do as your receiver? There's a lot
of thoughts into a production. What can each.

Speaker 3 (27:58):
Good by protecting the ball?

Speaker 12 (28:00):
I don't once you have in your hand and just
give me a quarterback a good read to throw and
you know, doing your part by taking care of the ball.

Speaker 1 (28:07):
Finally, cornerback Denzel Ward on preparing for the one two
punch of wide receiver Chicago has in Dj Moore and
Romo Dunza.

Speaker 17 (28:13):
What are you seeing?

Speaker 7 (28:14):
I'm film from Caleb Williams right now, and I mean
it seems like he's kind of an escape artist.

Speaker 6 (28:19):
Yeah, season, So what have you been seeing?

Speaker 20 (28:21):
Yeah, I think, just like you said, an escape artists
like a magician back there just plays never over, kind
of similar to Lamar Jackson. Able to escape the pocket
very well and still keeping his eyes downfield and able
to make a great throw down the field on the
run and on the move. And uh, he's looking good
looking like a good player for those guys.

Speaker 3 (28:41):
The calf.

Speaker 6 (28:42):
The calf. First off, how does it feeling.

Speaker 10 (28:45):
And how much of a concern is that when you
look at the temperatures expectation Chicago, how much does that
sort of play into, you know, in your mindset and
what you have to do to not let.

Speaker 6 (28:55):
That you know.

Speaker 20 (28:57):
Yeah, yeah, trying to get it, get it together. You
know my mary Kay's calf for this week, you know,
just they might need a broad calft this week, Bobby,
I'll be alright, you know, just trying to just trying
to rehab it and uh get it as strong as possible.
And uh yeah, and how.

Speaker 8 (29:13):
Mind blobling must it be to consider that they have
eighteen interceptions?

Speaker 10 (29:18):
Can you imagine?

Speaker 8 (29:19):
Uh, I mean, isn't that number so bizarre?

Speaker 20 (29:23):
Yeah, it's very crazy, very crazy. I wish we had eighteen,
uh interceptions. But uh yeah, those guys been doing a
great job of taking the ball away obviously, and uh
that helps you wins football games. And uh that's showing
that they got a good a good record and helping
their team out. Uh that helps the offense, special teams
to everybody. So they're definitely ball hawks over there.

Speaker 6 (29:39):
And yeah, they they do good, they do good with
that and so how important is it to you? I know,
it could be out of your control.

Speaker 5 (29:47):
But to play as many games as possible, right, I mean,
I know the off season you remoted to being there
every day. Does it mean a lot to you to
play if you were able to playoff team?

Speaker 20 (29:56):
Yeah, definitely. I mean, like I said, this is a
game I love. You know, I'm a leader for this
football team, and uh, I just always want to be
out there with my guys, you know, by any means necessary.
So always fighting to get on the field, stay on
the field, and uh, I know I can bring to
this game and uh when I'm out there, So yeah,
that's always fight.

Speaker 8 (30:14):
I don't know.

Speaker 10 (30:15):
The guys to extend the play, like Caleb, they force
you guys to cover a lunder and sometimes these guys
also played unders, they might How does that their ability
to extend plays?

Speaker 11 (30:24):
How does that also increase the chances for you guys
maybe your hands on the ball.

Speaker 20 (30:28):
Yeah, define definitely gives us chances as well extending the
play because the play kind of breaks down, they kind
of just running anywhere, so you kind of be able
to bait a couple of things and go run and
jump in and make some plays. So uh, that's definitely
an exciting part about guys that extend plays. Uh, you
can may get extra opportunities at the ball.

Speaker 7 (30:45):
How is just uncharacteristic? Was the run defense on Sunday?
And what did you see on the film when when
you're gonna find.

Speaker 20 (30:51):
Thet Yeah, you know, those guys did a great job
of executing their game plan and I was able to
get ahead out on some on the run game. And
we just gotta do a better job and execute and
really executing what we're doing, finishing our plays and being
in the right spot and making finish and making a tackle.
I know that one big one. I gotta find a

(31:11):
way to get him down.

Speaker 6 (31:14):
Yeah.

Speaker 7 (31:14):
And then just with the Bears having the number two
rushing offense right now, it's a chance to kind of
break the ship of that.

Speaker 20 (31:21):
Oh yeah, so we definitely can't let it carry over
another week. So we gotta find a way to eliminate
the run game. You know, they're gonna try to come
out and run the ball there. Like you said, they
got a good run team, and it's gonna be our
job to stop that.

Speaker 5 (31:32):
Everybody, what's Jim Schwartz like, after you guys have a
performance like that and get and see a little extra
grumpy this week.

Speaker 20 (31:39):
Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, definitely walk in there on your
tippy toes and uh peaking around the corner, see if
you see if he's in there. But now, he just
got high expectations for us, and that's understandable, and uh,
we just gotta we gotta come out and execute and
show up and not allow that. You know, we can't
give up as many yards as we did and uh,
but we gona be better.

Speaker 5 (31:57):
Whether it was his time is coordinated with the Lions
or now which head coach will played college the Bears?
What stands out about a Ben Johnson kind of sh
offensive system?

Speaker 20 (32:06):
What stands out from it? U? I'm not sure why
I'll say we stand out about it, but I mean
they they got a U great offense, Like I said,
they got a great record. Uh, they all seem like
they're all on the same page. Quarterbacks, offense, Uh, and
a coach and just much respect to to him and
those guy him again, his guy's going.

Speaker 6 (32:23):
Do you have to be worried about trick plays? You know?
And Detroit there in a ton of running.

Speaker 20 (32:27):
Yeah, yeah, I won't say worried about it, but you
definitely gotta just execute your assignment. And keep keep your
eyes true, and that's how you kind of eliminate the
trick plays. But you can't just go in just looking
for a trick play every single uh possession in every
single play, but uh, just executing your assignment. Shoul uh
take you there.

Speaker 14 (32:45):
Denzille, Uh as Miles has gone trying to get the sack,
rifor Heaven and Jim at both Highland, I think that
they like the most abund Miles is how he plays
the run. Just how much pride do you take in
being part of s tryna start trying to make plays
in the run game, especially knowing teams aren't really throwing
your ways so there's maybe not as many opportunities there.
So how much pride do you take and sort of

(33:05):
sticking your nose in on some of those run.

Speaker 20 (33:06):
Plays and trying to be Yeah, a lot of pride.
I mean, Coach Schortzy tell us all the time, like
we need our corners to come up and tackle and
be involved in the run game. You know, we're not
here just to cover as well. And that's another way,
like you said, they're not throwing in my way as
much to get into plays and you know, be physical
and help get momentum and change the game, you know,

(33:27):
help our d line and everybody get the bar runner down.

Speaker 2 (33:31):
Yeah.

Speaker 20 (33:32):
I enjoy being in the run game and making tackles
and you know, bring an energy to this team. So
that's something I like to take part of my game
as well.
