(02:44):
Good morning, sybyl It's Sybil Wilkes with what we need
to know. House Minority leader Hakim Jeffrey says Democrats are
ready to fight Texas Republicans redistricting efforts on every front, politically, legally,
and in the court of public opinion. Speaking alongside state
lawmakers in Texas, Jeffries emphasized that Democrats will stand up
for what's right for Texans. He praised local leaders for
(03:07):
showing courage, conviction, and character in their resistance.
Speaker 1 (03:11):
After Texas Republicans.
Speaker 8 (03:12):
Released their new congressional map, reportedly influenced by Donald Trump,
Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett revealed she was drawn.
Speaker 1 (03:20):
Out of her own district.
Speaker 8 (03:22):
She said, I currently don't live in the Congressional District
thirty that they created. That's not where I live now,
Crockett shared in a video reacting to the new map.
She said Republicans asked where incumbents live, but ignored that
information when redrawing lines. She called the move really awful
and noted that courts will likely consider that when reviewing
the legality of the map. Number three Rashad Stanley turned
(03:45):
his prison hustle into purpose. After serving over seven years
for unarmed robbery, he launched The Trench's Global clothing line,
an idea sparked while creating clothes with dental floss and
paper clips behind bars. Now free, mister Stanley runs the
Trenches Global Impact Center, where he and volunteers teach youth
(04:07):
photography and videography at no cost, using fashion and creativity
to change lives. Atlanta's own Little Baby gave back in
a big way last weekend, hosting his annual back to
School fest at West End Production Park. Through his foundation,
The Jones Project, Little Baby helped over four thousand families
(04:28):
by providing free shoes, backpacks, uniforms, haircuts, braids, and wellness products.

Empowered in.
Speaker 2 (04:46):
Brigame, It's cribs kill Up Sports Minute.
Speaker 1 (04:50):
I Hate the Homies.
Speaker 9 (04:51):
Episode one two was out right now last night, the
first game of the season, technically preseason scrimmage, Hall of
Fame game, the Chargers versus the Lions. I stopped watching
it in the fourth with twelve minutes left.
Speaker 1 (05:03):
It was twenty seven to seven.
Speaker 9 (05:05):
Them boys is just trying to make the team, and
it looks like nobody from Detroit was trying hard enough.
Hall of Fame inductees this year. Eric Allen Jared Allen,
Antonio Gates is the only person in Canton that has
never played one down of college football, the famous tight
end for the San Diego Chargers now LA Chargers. And
(05:26):
of course Sterling Sharp. Sterling Sharp and Shannon Sharp are
the first siblings in Canton. Not the first black brother,
they the first siblings ever to go to Canton. You
can't be mad at that. And the NBA real quick
New York Knicks forward Michael Bridges agreed to a four year,
(05:46):
one hundred and fifty million dollars deal.
Speaker 1 (05:49):
He's twenty eight years old.
Speaker 9 (05:51):
Come on, man, I'm Griff and that's your quick sportsman
is Suirrel with the birthdays.
Speaker 1 (05:57):

Speaker 1 (06:17):
Get Up Mornings with Erica Campbell.
Speaker 7 (06:28):
If you're listening to Get Up Erica Campbell. Faith Walking
right now, he man, faith.
Speaker 1 (06:37):
Walk, Guys, it's time for uh the faith walk of
the day.
Speaker 8 (06:42):
And today I'm gonna ask a question that's gonna sound
like double talk, but it's really not.
Speaker 1 (06:45):
It's a real question. Do you have faith in your faith?
Speaker 10 (06:50):
So?
Speaker 8 (06:50):
Are you so enamored with your faith that you're always
telling me? Because because I got faith and I even late,
are you always doing that? Our faith is always supposed
to be in God, right, we can feel good about
our walk with Christ. Like for those of you who
have been in church a long time, and I remember
hearing people testify when I was a little girl.
Speaker 1 (07:08):
I've been in this way a long time.
Speaker 8 (07:11):
I don't know if I don't know if the length
of time dictates your relationship with Christ or your relationship
with Christ.
Speaker 1 (07:19):
If you are brand new getting to know Christ, he
loves you.
Speaker 8 (07:21):
Just like He loves the person that's known him for
fifty seven years. If you just got saved yesterday, it's
not like it's a baby version of.
Speaker 1 (07:28):
The Holy goals and you don't really have the Holy goes.
Speaker 8 (07:31):
If you just got saved and you just got filed,
you have the power of the Holy Goals. Now, learning
how to walk in that takes time. Learning how to
understand that takes time. But sometimes we be church people.
I love us and listen. I grew up Church of
God in Christ, and then I went to a non
denominational church, and now my church is non denomination, and
then we partner with you know, all kinds of churches,
(07:52):
and in every denomination. There is sometimes a little slither
of arrogance in your faith in you know, when you say, oh, y'all,
you don't know that God. I learned that a long
time ago. What they teaching you over at that church.
Let's learn to not have arrogance in our faith. Let's
be humble with this beautiful blessing of Jesus loving us
(08:13):
enough to die in the cross, right, so we have
access to heaven. So we have a right to the
tree of life. That's what they would say. That's what
I heard. So you now have a right to the
tree of life.
Speaker 11 (08:23):
Right.
Speaker 8 (08:24):
But when you get when you look down on people,
I just don't think that's godly.
Speaker 1 (08:29):
I don't think that when the girl comes in that's.
Speaker 8 (08:31):
Dressed different than you you talk about or I don't
think that the guy that's struggling with addiction needs to
be beat up.
Speaker 1 (08:38):
I think he needs to be loved and he needs to.
Speaker 8 (08:40):
Know how much God wants him to believe in who
he is. Right, if you read all of the Book
of John, it's all about believing.
Speaker 1 (08:48):
John wanted to and wanted.
Speaker 8 (08:49):
Us to believe in Jesus. We believe in him, not
the fact that we believe.
Speaker 1 (08:54):
You know what I mean?
Speaker 8 (08:55):
Like you get arrogant about the thing that you only
got because God gave it to you. That's crazy. Let's
not be mean and judgmental Christians. Let's not be arrogant
about the fact that you know God, I know what
a mess I am. I'm so humble by all God
has done in my life. I'm so humble by where
I get to sit in my life. I'm not arrogant
in one not one bit, because but for the grace
(09:16):
of God, I could.
Speaker 1 (09:17):
Be jacked up. What a jacked up.
Speaker 8 (09:19):
It's relative based on where you're from and what you
you know, how you live. But I could be jacked up.
I know that's for sure. So it's God's grace, his kindness,
his mercy, his goodness, his love towards us is what
allow us to walk out our faith. Please don't add
arrogance to the mix. Please don't add pride.
Speaker 1 (09:38):
To the mix.
Speaker 8 (09:39):
Be humble, be humble, be gracious, but be bold. Be
humble but be excited. Be humble, but be loud about
God's love and his grace and mercy in your life.
But don't be mean. All right, that's my faith. Walk
of the day.
Speaker 1 (09:52):
I love you and I mean it all right.
Speaker 8 (09:53):

It's time for the Fresh Word Friday today. This message
is coming from Pastor Charles Metcalf of Transformation Church in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Speaker 1 (16:24):
His message, God chose me. Check it out.
Speaker 4 (16:27):
God shows Wait, I don't belong in this room.
Speaker 1 (16:31):
But guess what. I definitely don't belong in this room,
but for some.
Speaker 17 (16:34):
Reason, God moved to other people out of the way.
Speaker 1 (16:36):
And I don't know how I made it in this room.
I don't know how I'm up on the stage.
Speaker 17 (16:40):
But the one thing I do know is God shows me.
Speaker 7 (16:44):
I don't deserve this.
Speaker 19 (16:45):
Yeah, You're right, I don't deserve it because I'm imperfect, I'm.
Speaker 7 (16:48):
Inconsistent, I'm broken.
Speaker 1 (16:49):
I got a lot of.
Speaker 7 (16:50):
Stuff I'm still working through.
Speaker 9 (16:52):
But guess what, God chose me.
Speaker 1 (16:55):
I have no idea what I'm doing. You are absolutely correct.
Speaker 9 (16:59):
I've never raised four kids before, I've never readen.
Speaker 1 (17:02):
A book before. I've never been.
Speaker 7 (17:03):
On this stage and lift this stage.
Speaker 1 (17:05):
But just what God chose me?
Speaker 12 (17:10):
Oo?
Speaker 9 (17:11):
Man, guess I am a fan of Pastor Charles. He
always has been so transparent. I mean I've been watching
them since twenty twenty, since COVID, him and Michael Todd
going back and forth, and he.
Speaker 1 (17:27):
Just such a.
Speaker 9 (17:30):
Present and practical way that they preach over there, Untilsa.
Speaker 1 (17:33):
I'm a fan. Mmmmm, Cheryl.
Speaker 8 (17:37):
That thing blessed me so good, and I wanted to
share it with the Get Up Church because so many
people struggle in this area.
Speaker 1 (17:42):
You're so busy asking why, just to place that he
chose you. Yeah, you know what I mean. They have
nothing to do with you. You weren't chosen. You weren't
chosen because you got it all right and got it
all together.
Speaker 8 (17:53):
God chose you to bless people. And if you learned it,
just sit in that. It will overwhelm you with gratitude
for me. Oh God, Like there are many times I
call him over what I'm not good at. There are
many times when I am asking why and I were.
Speaker 1 (18:10):
Like, God, are me? You want to me?
Speaker 8 (18:13):
I got to call to speak someone and I still
do that sometimes.
Speaker 1 (18:16):
Like you want to speak where? I still do that?
Speaker 8 (18:19):
But I know God chose me and I'm grateful for it.
How did it hit your heart like that?
Speaker 7 (18:26):
Like a place?
Speaker 8 (18:27):
Because it just really is humble, like out of everybody
he could have chose right. And then just to keep
yourself in a posture that if he's looking for somebody
to do something, he desires you to do and he
choose you.
Speaker 1 (18:39):
What that is crazy? He chose you, chose you for
the show.
Speaker 9 (18:45):
I was holding my Spellar Award yesterday with my whole
name on it next to Mahela Jackson and one, and
I was like that, yeah, your name is on it,
but around the stuff, don't talk about you for you,
oh yes, and also you yeah, and also you And
(19:11):
that is just and that's for you too, listening and all.
Speaker 1 (19:14):
He chose you.
Speaker 8 (19:16):
It wasn't an accident. It wasn't a mistake. It doesn't
matter what they say. God chose you. Walk in that
living that be grateful to own that that's yours.
Speaker 1 (19:25):
He chose you. I'm encouraged. I sure hope you are too.
Speaker 8 (19:30):
All Right, guys, the m of the day is on
the way.
Speaker 7 (19:42):
If you're listening to get up.
Speaker 1 (19:47):
The day, get up mornings with Yes.
Speaker 8 (19:51):
It is time for the er is of the day.
And today I want to talk about embracing new seasons
of life. I don't know many people who celebrate getting older.
I don't know many people who you know, jump for
joy at the changes in life, feeling certain aches and
pains and you know, not having the vibrancy that you
had as a young age. But what I am learning
(20:13):
to do is appreciate every season, to speak life over
every season in my life, whether it be doing this
show or singing and traveling or church or children. It's
just a new place in my life. And so I
can't be so I can't romanticize my younger years so
(20:34):
much that I am not grateful right now.
Speaker 1 (20:37):
And I think that's what happens.
Speaker 8 (20:38):
We're so busy remembering what was, you know, like the
old person who was they was jamming in the seventies,
so they still living like they in the seventies, but
we in two hundred and twenty twenty five, you know.
I think that we should learn to embrace where we are,
appreciate we are where we are, be grateful for where
we are. Just because you're aging, you're not dead, You're
still alive. There's still things to learn, there still to do,
(21:00):
there's still ways to grow. And now you can become
a coach, you can become a mentor you become a
teacher to the younger generations to teach them what you know.
Having a different perspective on walking through the new seasons
of life can determine whether you enjoy them or you're
frustrated by them, there will always be a new internex.
I'm so excited about this next generation of gospel artists.
(21:21):
I'm so excited about seeing my nieces and nephews grow
up and learn to drive and talk about buying cars
and getting relationships. And it is my job to not
be the old auntie, but be the auntie who's willing
to poor and teach and love and spend time with
them and gently guide them.
Speaker 1 (21:36):
Right.
Speaker 8 (21:37):
They have to find their own way, just like I
found mine. And so as i walk in this new
season of my life and I'm still young, I'm not
saying that I'm, you.
Speaker 1 (21:44):
Know, about to check up out of here. But what
I do know is that.
Speaker 8 (21:47):
New seasons feel uncomfortable sometimes, right, it can be overwhelming sometimes,
but learn to see the blessings so you find the joy.
What I will not do is become old and grumpy.
I will not do it. I will not complain about everything.
I will not say all young people are crazy and
don't nobody know what they're doing. God knew this time
and the season was coming, so they must be purposing it.
Speaker 1 (22:06):
I want to see it.
Speaker 8 (22:07):
I don't want to romanticize what was That's why I'm
not I'm not big on go back to the old time,
waiting you know how to make it great again?
Speaker 1 (22:14):
Not great.
Speaker 8 (22:15):
I'm not big on that because it's a new day,
a new opportunity. How dare we disrespect today? So its
deglorifying yesterday? Yesterday was great yesterday, but today is a
new day, a new season, a new time. Let's pour
that energy into our family, our churches, our careers. What
is new that I can experience? What is new that
I can do? And how can I see it differently?
Because my eyes are more mature in that a different perspective.
Speaker 1 (22:38):

Law versus God's Law.
Speaker 1 (28:38):
Now, let's open the Vintage Fault.
Speaker 7 (28:40):
Let's go inside.
Speaker 1 (28:43):
Take you back, way back.
Speaker 9 (28:45):
What is sitting in the class?
Speaker 8 (28:46):
Oh, this is fault Get up for We are taking
you back to nineteen eighty nine with one of Darryl
Coley's biggest hits.
Speaker 1 (28:56):
Here it is Jesus saves on Get Up Morning.
Speaker 19 (28:58):
Jesus say, we are inside the vined vault.
Speaker 8 (29:10):
And that was my phrase, Daryl Coley, What Jesus says.
Here's another one from Darryl Coley. This time it's with
the Wilmington Chester Mass. I'm gonna try not to cry, y'all.
Is he's preparing me on Get up Mornings from.
Speaker 1 (29:30):
The Vintage Vault. That's Darryl Coley.
Speaker 8 (29:31):
But he's preparing me and Daryl Coley got his start
playing and collaborating with Edward Hawkins, James Cleveland, and Tremaine Hawkins.
On top of that, he served as vocal director for
some of the most iconic voices and projects. I was
totally obsessed with Darryl Coley.
Speaker 1 (29:49):
I listened to everything.
Speaker 8 (29:50):
I listened to a song he did with the GMW
a years ago called Cheriot's Coming. Yeah, I mean I
was obsessed with his And then I got the privilege
of being in a stage play with him where he
played Elijah and I played the widow Woman. It was
one of the highlights of my life. I truly, truly,
truly loved him. But what'd you love about Dryl Coley
(30:13):
and just his voice? Like he was just a distinct
talent and gift, and you know, you know, talking about
the different sounds of gospel music, he could do it
all classical, he could do you know, straight driving songs,
he could do you know, and just so smooth at it.
So when you know, when we went home to be
(30:34):
the Lord, it was a huge hole in the gospel
music industry when he left.
Speaker 1 (30:37):
But yeah, I love that.
Speaker 8 (30:39):
He also, you know, directed a number of major projects
on the urban side or just mainstream side, doing you know.
Speaker 1 (30:47):
Movie scores and a number of other things.
Speaker 8 (30:49):
So he's responsible for signing a lot of artists too,
because he was one of the and our directors over
at Gospel Centric when when she got started with Vicky
Mack got started. So yeah, so Darryl has a huge mark.
He got a huge mark in the Costole music industry.
I like how he was on the Simpsons. Yes, had
(31:15):
his hands and a lot of stuff. When he sang
on the Image Awards with Michael Jackson, You gospel people
were so proud.
Speaker 1 (31:25):
We lost our mind. Oh my god.
Speaker 8 (31:28):
He left such a great blueprint for music outside of
just the gospel borders. But he was always fully gospel.
That's what I thought was really cool. Yeah, so we
celebrate and remember him today. The life and legacy and
amazing music of Daryl Coley. All right, guys, we got
more on the way. It's get up mornings.
Speaker 7 (31:55):
If you're listening to.
Speaker 2 (31:56):
Get up, sign to wake up and win with doctor

Speaker 18 (32:25):
Seem we all know about Murphy's law, which is the
old saying that anything that can.
Speaker 1 (32:30):
Go wrong will go wrong or the worst possible time.
Speaker 18 (32:33):
But if it's also God's law, God's promises that he
will never leave us or forsake us. The key is
to trust and keep moving forward with high expectations.
Speaker 1 (32:44):
Trust in God.
Speaker 18 (32:46):
I look back all the time at the time I

So I heard this song on the show and immediately
wanted to know who in the world was this in? Uh,
this is the most personal you've been. What inspired this
new chapter?
Speaker 12 (42:51):
You honestly just everything I'm going through in my life,
everything I'm going through my career. And I was writing
this chorus and I immediately wanted to be a part
of it, and I felt like I wanted to incorporate,
you know, my worship in it.
Speaker 3 (43:09):
And so that's why I feel like it's personal, because
it actually is a true song, you know, and I
really am grateful. That's where I am right now in life.
Speaker 1 (43:18):
I love it. I love it. There's nothing like gratitude.
Speaker 8 (43:21):
And you've always blended gospel worshiping, soul and R and B,
so naturally, with all of the recent talk in a
state of the gospel industry, how do you approach mixing genres?
Speaker 1 (43:32):
What's your heart posture about it all?
Speaker 3 (43:34):
You know, I just keep being myself. You know I
was raised trust to God in Christ. I am a gospel.

Speaker 8 (44:33):
You know, the way the world goals and the way
life goes. Things happen and it feels like a coincidence.
It feels like it's a thing. But sometimes God was
