Speaker 5 (01:26):
Hello Sybil Wills with what we need to know. Republican
efforts to flip five Democratic Texas House seats are faltering
amid President Trump's declining approval ratings and strong Democratic performances
in special elections. Democrats have significantly outpaced the President's twenty
(01:51):
twenty four margins in key districts, increasing doubts about the
GOP's newly drawn map. Representative Vicente Gonzales says the momentum
favors Democrats reclaiming South Texas and the House majority. New
York Attorney General Letitia James is suing UPS, the United
Parcel Service, accusing the company of underpaying thousands of seasonal
(02:14):
workers by failing to record all hours work and requiring
off the clock labor. Attorney General James said the practices
cost workers millions of dollars and seeking restitution and changes
to UPS's timekeeping systems, adding that other states may want
to join the lawsuit. The Good News file. Asia Wilson
(02:35):
capped a dominant twenty twenty five by winning a record
fourth WNBA MVP and leading the Las Vegas Aces to
their third title in four seasons, earning her first AP
Female Athlete of the Year honor. Black America two fifty
and the spotlight is on this date. December sixteenth, two
thousand and three. You may remember that President George W.
(02:59):
Bush signed the National Museum of African American History and
Culture Act authorizing a Smithson a smith the authorizing a
Smithsonian Museum dedicated to preserving and sharing the African American experience.
This act followed years of advocacy and was supported by
a bipartisan group of lawmakers, historians, and cultural leaders. The
(03:23):
museum opened its permanent location on the National Mall in
twenty sixteen, during a ceremony led by then President Barack Obama.
I'm Sybil Wilkes, be informed, be in power.
Speaker 1 (03:37):
It's good. Give up sports a minute.
Speaker 6 (03:40):
The Pittsburgh Steelers put that bang bang on the Dolphins
twenty eight to fifteen. Aaron Rodgers win twenty three and
twenty seven, two hundred and twenty four yards two touchdowns.
The Dolphins have been eliminated from the playoffs and the
Pittsburgh Steelers are leading the AFC. Noise. Steelers haven't lost
(04:01):
on Monday Night football since nineteen ninety one. I was
in Germany nineteen ninety one. What were you doing in
nineteen ninety one? Tonight is the Veteran Bowl Troy versus
Jacksonville State. Jacksonville State lost to Kennesaus State in the
Conference USA Championship about a week.
Speaker 4 (04:20):
And a half ago. My daughter goes to Kennesau State.
Speaker 6 (04:23):
The Dallas Mavericks Cooper Flag. He became the youngest person
ever to score forty. The eighteen year old had forty
two but lost to the Jazz one forty to one
thirty three. And then he's but he's nineteen on Sunday,
so he ain't eighteen forever. He's still a little boy though,
(04:45):
with forty two on Griff and that's your quick sports
man in Suirrel with the birthdays, Thank.
Speaker 7 (04:50):
You, Griff.
Speaker 3 (04:51):
If you're celebrating your birthday, you're celebrating today with comedian JB.
Speaker 4 (04:54):
Smooth.
Speaker 3 (04:55):
Yeah, So Layla Hathaway, her birthday is today. My friend
Damon Willilliam's marketing guru and Kim Porter was born today,
and if it's your birthday, well you get.
Speaker 4 (05:05):
A chance to shout it out.
Speaker 3 (05:06):
That's coming up in fifteen minutes on the birthday shoutouts
on Get Up Mornings with Erica Campbell.
Speaker 8 (05:18):
If you're listening to Get Up, Eric Cambo. Faith walk
right now, a man, Faith walk.
Speaker 3 (05:29):
Yes, it is time for the faith walk of the day.
And if I'm honest with y'all, last night was interesting
for me. I just had a moment and start thinking
about a lot that I'm facing and have to deal with,
and a lot of the unknown that I cannot control.
And I know when life gets heavy and pressure feels unfair.
Believe in God isn't always easy, if I'm honest, but
(05:51):
it's always the right thing to do.
Speaker 4 (05:53):
Faith isn't proven on a mountain. It's proven in the valley.
Speaker 3 (05:56):
And when the answer is delayed, and when the door
hasn't opened and the tears won't stop, hear this. God
is not asking you to understand everything. He's asking you
to trust him through everything. The same God who brought
you to this moment is the God who will carry
you through it. Scripture reminds us that many are the
afflictions of the righteous but the Lord delivers him out
(06:19):
of them all that Psalms thirty four and nineteen, not some,
but all not eventually, faithfully, not barely completely. So keep
believing God, even in tough times, especially when it's tough.
Believe His plan is bigger than your problem. His strength
is greater than your struggle. His love is stronger than
(06:39):
anything coming against you. You are not breaking down, your
being carried through, So let God carry you through. Last
night I had to encourage myself with myself, what does
that mean? I put it on, can't give up now?
And y'all, honestly, I just sat on the side of
my bed and cried. I did the whole song, and
(07:00):
then after that I listened to go get it, and
I reminded myself of who God has already been in
my life and what I've known him to be. And
so just like I was encouraged, I want you to
be encouraged, and I want you to.
Speaker 4 (07:11):
Know that it will not be easy.
Speaker 3 (07:13):
No, it won't because you don't get better you just
have everything being easy for you.
Speaker 4 (07:17):
It has to be challenging.
Speaker 3 (07:19):
And what happens is it shows you a deeper appreciation
for your ability to withstand difficulty, it gives you a
deeper appreciation for God's ability to carry you through the
tough situations. I have been using can't give Up Now
for and encouragement probably ever since I sang it. When
it gets tough, I'll get in my car and just
play it. I'll drive, I'll put it in my ears
(07:42):
and just sit somewhere in a corner of my house
and just close my eyes and tell myself that I
can't give up now Now. If I have to do
that for myself, I'm suggesting that you try to, And
I'm telling you God will encourage your soul, not because
I'm singing it with my sister, but because those words
are true. You cannot give up, So don't quit. But listen,
(08:04):
you have to fight. You have to push. You can't
just sit there and things think things are gonna change.
You have to be a part of the change. So
what are you doing to build your faith? What are
you doing to build your community? What are you doing
to stop telling yourself the same sad story you've been
telling yourself.
Speaker 4 (08:18):
You got to say something new.
Speaker 3 (08:19):
If you want to get somewhere you never got, you
gotta do something you've never done. You got tosh yourself
beyond your limits. Praise a little more, read a little more,
worship a little more, study a little more, plan a
little more, keep digging and keep pushing for the best
part of you. Life will pull it out of you.
I'll promise you it will whether you want to. But
(08:39):
what are you gonna do on the other side of
that problem? Get to the victory? It is yours. God
has it for you. But will you fight for it?
Because we have to fight for it?
Speaker 2 (08:46):
All right?
Speaker 4 (08:47):
I love you and I mean it. That is the
faith walk all right, guys.
Speaker 3 (08:51):

Speaker 4 (13:48):
All right, guys, let's jump right in.
Speaker 3 (13:49):
In the newsletter, you said that there's more redistricting bad
news for the Republicans in Texas.
Speaker 4 (13:55):
Tell us about it.
Speaker 18 (13:57):
So, the Republican efforts to flip those five Democratic Texas
seats in the US Congress are faltering now doing well
amid the President's declining approval ratings and also the strong
Democratic performances in recent special elections. Democrats have significantly outpaced
the president's twenty twenty four margins and the key districts.
(14:18):
And I dare say that some Republicans are feeling a
little emboldened by Indiana Republicans' efforts, and they when they
decided not to vote in favor of redistricting, and some
others are saying, well, if they can do it, we
can do it too. So it'll be interesting to see
how it all plays out.
Speaker 8 (14:33):
Wow.
Speaker 3 (14:34):
Okay, so you share that the New York Attorney General
is SAPPS over alleged cheating of seasonal workers out of
millions of pay.
Speaker 2 (14:42):
Wow.
Speaker 18 (14:44):
So check this out that Latitia James, the Attorney General
of New York State, alleged that UPS cheated approximately fourteen
thousand seasonal workers out of roughly forty five million dollars
in wages by forcing them to work off the in
the busy holiday seasons and seeking restitution and penalties for
the wage theft violations. And this stem from a tip
(15:07):
from the Teamsters union, and UPS says that they take
the accusation seriously and will not comment on litigation. But
also the Attorney genteral says if the other states want
to look into this, they're welcome to join the suit.
Speaker 4 (15:20):
Wow. Listen, UPS workers are want to say.
Speaker 1 (15:23):
What right?
Speaker 4 (15:25):
Hi?
Speaker 3 (15:25):
Go ahead?
Speaker 9 (15:25):

Magazine's Athlete of the Year. She's the only player in
the WNBA or the NBA to ever win a scoring title, MVP,
(15:56):
Defensive Player of the Year and Finals VP in the

We've got the airkaism of the day on the way
and Gripp will give you the joys and concerns plus
great music that absolutely will bless your soul. So don't
miss it's Get Up Mornings.
Speaker 8 (16:55):
You're listening to Get Up Real, So real thought to
Erica of the day on.
Speaker 1 (17:02):
Get Up Mornings with Erica Campbell.
Speaker 3 (17:05):
Yes, it is time for the Ericaism of the Day.
And this past weekend was really really full, full with work,
full with things, but also filled with a lot of love.
I had the pleasure of, of course, to one Sunday
morning service, both of the services, and then after that
we had to meet with two couples at the church,
and then we spent that evening will for a short
(17:27):
part of the evening celebrating my father in love who
turned seventy one top of December. And I just like
the gathering. I like the the I like the people
in the room, I like the communication. Just says so much.
That Saturday, we did our first Lady's breakfast, and y'all,
I had the privilege of cooking breakfast for all the ladies.
(17:50):
Was up late Saturday night prepping because you know, when
you got to cook for about fifty people, you got
to prepare. And even though I was tired and overwhelmed,
it was a joy. I have one to cook for
the ladies at my church for a very long time.
But our church is a pretty nice side and so
you know, they said, no, let's get a caterer and
we would know, ladies, let's let the ladies bring things,
(18:11):
and we would. But I just literally wanted to love
on them and give them something that came from my
heart in my hands.
Speaker 4 (18:18):
And y'all, I could see the joy in their faces.
Speaker 3 (18:21):
It's because many of them are working moms, and you know,
moms with multiple children.
Speaker 4 (18:27):
And so you know, they know that I'm busy.
Speaker 3 (18:29):
So they were just so overwhelmed that I would take
the time to cook with them on a Saturday morning
where I could have been resting and getting someone else
to do it. But when I tell you there is
a blessing and serving, there absolutely is. It speaks volumes
of your heart, It speaks volumes of your care and concern.
So the question is who have you served lately? Who
have you served free of charge? Who have you served
(18:51):
that needs it the most? That's what we need in
this season, That's what we needed our time and our
families and in our churches. How are we serving not
to get celebration, but literally to make a love deposit
I'm telling you love deposits are always returned in your
life in a different way when you care about people.
God's people, all people, all people, and God's people, even
if bad ones, He made them too. They just ain't
(19:12):
they just ain't good kids.
Speaker 4 (19:13):
But they still hear.
Speaker 3 (19:14):
And so we have responsibility to love on people, especially
in this season. And y'all, sometimes we forget the grace
that has been extended to us, and so we say
things like I ain't doing nothing for them. What if
God said that about you with all the stuff that
you've done wrong? Think about it that way. I've been
extended a lot of grace. So I will extend the
grace that has been extended to me, the love that
(19:35):
has been extended to me, the information, the wisdom, the
prayers that have.
Speaker 4 (19:40):
Been extended to me.
Speaker 3 (19:41):
Let's be a little more kind in this season. Y'all
know our world is going through it. So as much
as we can love on the people around us, Let's
absolutely do that. Okay, it's so important, it's so needed.
I love y'all. That is the air chaism of the day. Now,
y'all stick around. The joys and concerns are up next
on Get Up mornings on this terrific Tuesday, Brother Griff,
(20:01):
you ready to bless the people this morning.
Speaker 6 (20:04):
So so ready with my Nativity self, with your who
Nativity self?
Speaker 4 (20:10):
Nativity. You can't be a Nativity self. Oh God, you
know what? God bless you? How and how? You say
it again? My Nativity.
Speaker 3 (20:22):
Really sounds sensitive and tender, tender, like why are you
saying it like that? Get that out your throat. It
sounds got a little creep creep on it, just a
little bit. Jo, don't Nativity. I think about my Savior.
Speaker 4 (20:37):
You're the creepy neighbor. Now, grip, that's your neighbor. Com up,
I like your Nativity.
Speaker 3 (20:44):
I'll be like, don't say that about like that by
my Savior.
Speaker 4 (20:48):
That's how I'm not gonna. Can't say that. All right,
y'all around, got more on the waits. Get up mornings.
Speaker 8 (21:06):
If you're listening, to get up with Erica camp at
the church say Amen.
Speaker 1 (21:15):
Time for joys and concerns.
Speaker 4 (21:18):
Well sayings is the most High God.

because he brought me from my.

Father yow, I could have been dead sleeping in the grain.
Speaker 16 (22:09):
But God, it is.

Speaker 6 (22:15):
Yes, yes, lame yelling. I know y'all people ain't feeling Christmas,
and yet it's nine days the Christmas. Get it together.
I just sat and looked at my tree for a
long time. Oh, here's what's funny about our tree. We
got this giant twelve foot tree with a star on top.
But we must have pressed the wrong button on the
(22:37):
star because we think the stars on the timer. The
star basically come on when it wants to, So we
walk past the tree and go, Star's on. But sometimes
sometime it's on sometime it's on. But I was in
my guest bathroom and join our grench le niggas got
(22:58):
the whole guest bathroom wrenched out, and then I had some.
Speaker 2 (23:03):
I had some hot chocolate yesterday.
Speaker 6 (23:05):
As I looked out my window with the lights flashing
all around it, I just sat and I was like that,
it is look at me having Christmas at my first house. Yeah,
I felt like a little what's that called? It's the
little fairy things God, and be there for Christmas, fair,
(23:28):
little Pixie.
Speaker 2 (23:31):
No they call something like that.
Speaker 4 (23:35):
Yeah, tinker Bell.
Speaker 2 (23:37):
You know, tinker Bell is not a Christmas thing. She
is Peter Pas old girl Disney.
Speaker 6 (23:44):
Anyway, what is the it's a Christmas e in the
Little Pixie.
Speaker 4 (23:50):
It ain't Jesus. So we don't know.
Speaker 6 (23:52):
Sure, ladies and gentlemen, you know what. Never mind, good,
never mind. Uh, I'm gonna just sit and drink my
tea with my start to come on when it wants to.
Now it's somebody in the guard right now, zay grib

it's too high and the ladder and no, leave me alone.

I get to do, everything I get to have, he
simply allowed me to stew it over it and this
glory it ain't for me. It's praise. It ain't for me,
it's off for him.
Speaker 8 (27:22):
Man.
Speaker 1 (27:23):
So it's a daily reminder for me.
Speaker 2 (27:25):

His ministries are profound.

Man.
Speaker 6 (27:34):

that type of ministry?
Speaker 1 (27:39):
Oh man?
Speaker 19 (27:40):
Just getting the opportunity to serve a leader's leader, you know,
that's what this walk he is.
Speaker 1 (27:45):
He is a leader's leader.
Speaker 19 (27:47):
And to be able to walk lock and step with him,
to get a really close up look at the way
he leads, the way he thinks. Man, it has been
my honor to serve the church, but it has for
me been one of the greatest opportunities of a lifetime
be able to sit underneath this kind of leadership.
Speaker 6 (28:04):

all glory to me?
Speaker 6 (28:27):
No?
Speaker 1 (28:28):
Man, you know for real?
Speaker 19 (28:30):
Just going back to that daily reminder, bro, Every day

Another great day.
Speaker 21 (29:40):
This is doctor Willy Jolly, author of the book A
set Back as a Setup for a Comeback and host
of the Willy Jolly Wealthy Ways podcast. As we celebrate
this wonderful time of the year, I have a special
twelve Days of Christmas program to help you and your
family win more each and every day. On the fifth
day of Christmas, I want you to share the gift
of joy. The Chinese have a powerful proverb that stays,
(30:00):
if you want joy for an hour, take a nap.
If you want joy for a day, go fishing. If
you want joy for a year, inherit a fortune. But
if you want joy for a lifetime, help someone else.
Joy is a gift that is internal and eternal. It
can be found in faith, in family, and in creating
a fulfilling future. During this Christmas, shared joy the joy
(30:21):
on the inside with everyone you know. It will bless them,
but it will bless you more. Give joy this Christmas.
It will make a difference. This is doctor Willy Jolly.
Go to win with Willy dot Com. Win with Willy
dot com for resources to help you and your family
to win more. And remember to make the most of
each and every minute because your best is still yet
to come.

and Old Smith, Miranda Curtis and Tamala Man. Here's Tasha
Cobb's Lennard with Oh Holy Night on Get Up More.
Speaker 9 (38:42):
Let's talk about love for God, so love the world
love talk.
Speaker 3 (38:48):
Yes, it is time for the love talk of the day,
and today I want to talk about giving people time.
You know, when you have a big family and you know,
family wants things to be right, sometimes they just kind
of go over the emotion, go over the apology, just
kind of just breathe past the offense and try to
get straight to the resolution, which I understand in theory.
Speaker 4 (39:10):
But you have to give people time.
Speaker 3 (39:12):
You know, if you step on my toe and you
say sorry, my foot may still hurt for a little while.
I may still feel it. Sometimes you have apologized for
whatever you said or did, but the feeling is still
there and that takes time, so you can't approach them.
Speaker 4 (39:27):
Well, why, I mean, why you keep giving? I apologize?
Speaker 3 (39:30):
Okay, So that apology feels like more of a I
just did it because I'm supposed to, as opposed to
I really feel it, and I understand what I did
and I understand how I hurt.
Speaker 4 (39:40):
You, So I'm allow you the moment to breathe.
Speaker 3 (39:44):
I remember in our younger years, being married, born, in
the studio a lot, so sometimes he won't have his phone,
and one blessed even and he left his phone.
Speaker 4 (39:52):
In the car.
Speaker 3 (39:53):
So y'all, I'm calling, and I'm calling, and I'm upset
because first you go, oh, you don't see my call,
Then you go, it's something wrong, and then you go,
oh god, is he in a ditch somewhere, So all
these emotions will stirred up. And comes home and I
find out he's already. He's like, what's wrong. I said,
I'm mad, but I'm probably gonna be mad for another
five ten minutes, so give me some time. He said,
thank you for telling me, and he went downstairs, and
I had to get my pressure down because I had
(40:15):
gotten so emotional about him not answering the phone and
what was wrong. That's a small thing, but that's what
I'm talking about. Giving people time to just take a
deep breath and reset. You cannot rush them because it
makes you feel bad that they feel bad. You gotta
eat that if that's what you did, if it's your fault,
you gotta take that and just give a moment. Okay,
I understand. I'll give you a moment again. I apologize.
(40:36):
The good ones will say, you know, I'm sorry again.
I know it's gonna take a moment because that helps you,
because you feel like that helps you overcome and get
past it or get through it because you feel like
they care about the offense made to me in my heart. So, y'all,
if it's you, give them time mama's and grandmama's and grandpa's.
If you said some rude things and you hurt they feeling,
(40:58):
don't just rush and pack. You know I was just
playing that. Don't mean it didn't hurt when you say
things that are harsh and hurtful. So give people time
to heal. They need that, all right, And don't you
want their heart to be well?
Speaker 1 (41:10):
I do.
Speaker 3 (41:10):
So let's be patient with people that we love and
give them time. That's the love talk of the day.
Stick around, y'all.
Speaker 4 (41:16):
It's more on the waves. Get it morning.
Speaker 8 (41:27):
If you're listening to get up camping Erica. Find out
what everybody's talking about right now.
Speaker 4 (41:35):
Take it over the web. What is it?
Speaker 1 (41:38):
It's trending topics up to the minute.
Speaker 3 (41:40):
All right, guys, it is time for the air, all right,
Cheryl tell us what is trending? Yeah, yesterday after the show,
I wanted to talk about it yesterday, but we got
(42:01):
this story because you know, we found out who is
a who allegedly killed Rob Reiner and his wife Michelle.
Found out it was a stabbing death inside his Brent
With Los Angeles home yesterday. The couple's daughter, romy Rener,
reportedly discovered the bodies that afternoon, following a nine one
(42:21):
one call placed around three point thirty pm for medical aid.
And the first person she said go after was her,
her brother, Nick Reiner.
Speaker 2 (42:30):
And so it's.
Speaker 3 (42:32):
Apparently they were at a party the night before at
Conan O'Brian's place, and they were all there and it
was an incident. And then next day they find him
and his wife dead in their home. So they did
apprehend Nick a thirty two year old son who allegedly
stabbed them, and his his bond is like over three
(42:55):
million dollars, so he's gonna get it.
Speaker 1 (42:57):
It is.
Speaker 6 (42:59):
Just a phenomenon that you live your whole life, you
raise your kids, and you have to die by their hands.
Speaker 2 (43:08):
It was tough to read the story. It was very
tough to read the story.
Speaker 11 (43:12):
Man.
Speaker 4 (43:13):
Yeah, the nation, Hollywood, you know, just because the work
he left behind, we know him.
Speaker 3 (43:18):
He's like our big brother, you know, I mean all
the way back to the Archie Bunker show, way back exactly.
And so yeah, and then the news, the big news
too is that you know, President Donald Trump just you know,
was very disrespectful when it came to Lexi. Yeah, yeah,
because you know, Rob Reiner stood up and he talked
(43:41):
about what, you know, what he disliked about the president.
Speaker 4 (43:44):
So yeah.
Speaker 3 (43:45):
So you know, even when Charlie Kirk passed, even if
we didn't agree with his views, nobody literally, you know,
talk about this man in a negative way after he
had been murdered.
Speaker 4 (43:56):
So why are you anyway? And we're moving all right, guys.
Speaker 3 (44:01):
Another shooting at a university, this time Ivy League. Brown
University has a shooting. Police are pursuing a new lead
based on photos and videos of an individual taking around
two pm Saturday, hours before the deadly mass shooting at
Brown University. The FBI, which announced a fifty thousand dollar
(44:22):
reward leading to an arrest and conviction, also released a
description saying the person is five feet eight inches or
five eight with a stocky bill is what they're saying.
I do know that Pastor Joel and Yolanda's son goes
to Brown, either he just graduated from there or he was.
He's at Brown University, so I have to check in
on them. But yeah, so the world is dark, here's
(44:46):
some bright news. The Tribute to the Holidays the annual
the sixteenth Annual Stellar Tribute to the Holidays is airing
right now on Stellar TV. Hosted by Our Girl Ja
Kaelin Carr. It features Janis Gains, Keelante Gavin, Brian Courtney Wilson,
Kierre Sheer Kelly with Sean Mitchell Molly Music. It's just
an all star cast, so check your local listings. If
(45:08):
you've got Spectrum files, Verizon or you can download the
Stellar TV and check it out. It looks really, really
good and I'm really excited because cha, Kaylyn's doing a
great job hosting that.
Speaker 4 (45:18):
All right, that's what's trending. Griff, you're up next with
a sports minute.
Speaker 1 (45:22):
Good James, it's grip Jill up sports minute.
Speaker 6 (45:25):
Thanks Cheryl vinos Is. Steelers put that thing on the
Dolphins twenty eight to fifteen. Aaron Rodgers was twenty three
or twenty seven with two hundred and twenty four yards,
two touchdowns, no interceptions. The Dolphins have been eliminated from
the playoffs, and the Steelers haven't lost on Monday Night
Football since nineteen ninety one.
Speaker 2 (45:46):
What were you doing in nineteen ninety one? I was
in Germany in the Army. How about that?
Speaker 6 (45:50):
Tonight is the Veteran Bowl, Troy versus Jacksonville State.
Speaker 4 (45:54):
Grip? What's so special about Jacksonville State?
Speaker 11 (45:56):
Oh?
Speaker 6 (45:57):
They lost to Kennisaw State in the conference You say
championship where my daughter Jamison is a freshman.
Speaker 4 (46:04):
How about that?
Speaker 6 (46:05):
And in the NBA, the Dallas Mavericks Cooper Flagg the
rookie number one pick. He became the youngest person ever
to score forty points. The eighteen year old had forty two,
but lost to the Jazz one forty to one thirty three.
He's nineteen on Sunday. What were you doing when you
(46:26):
were nineteen? I'm griff and as your Quiggs boysmen egg commanders.
Speaker 4 (46:30):
Surel with the birthdays, you really don't want to know.
Speaker 9 (46:33):
I promise you.
Speaker 4 (46:34):
If you're celebrating your birthday.
Speaker 3 (46:36):
When you're celebrating, you're celebrating with Jay Live alone.
Speaker 2 (46:41):
He was fast in nineteen joke.
Speaker 1 (46:43):
No, if you.
Speaker 2 (46:46):
I was being fast, I was married.
