fight in Texas over redrawing electoral boundaries as intensified as
some Democrats fled the state in protest. Republican Senator John
Cornan claimed the FBI has agreed to help locate the

Speaker 7 (03:26):
Black business monks celebrated each August honors the vital contributions
of black owned businesses to the US economy and the
push for equality. Started in two thousand and four by
entrepreneur Frederick E. Jordan and publisher John William Templeton, the
monk aims to spotlight the challenges and successes of black entrepreneurs.
(03:47):
Denise Moore of the Black Business Alliance, says this celebration
helps highlight a community off it overlooked in wealth building opportunities.
For more than one hundred and fifty years, black communities
in Kentucky and Tennessee have celebrated this day, August eighth,
as a day of freedom, much like Juneteenth. The tradition
(04:09):
began after future President Andrew Johnson freed his own slaves
August eighth, eighteen sixty three while serving as military governor
of Tennessee, a state not covered by the Emancipation Proclamation.
Speaker 1 (04:22):
One of those.
Speaker 7 (04:22):
Freedmen, Samuel Johnson, organized the first official eighth of August
celebration in Greenville eight years later, and the tradition continues
to this day. Have the Emancipation Day. Indeed, I'm Sibil Wilkes,
be informed, be empowered.
Speaker 1 (04:40):
In brid day. It's give up sports minute.
Speaker 5 (04:45):
It was an NFL football yesterday. Let me just go
straight to it. The Ravens be the Indianapolis Coast twenty
four to sixteen. Philadelphia dealt with Cincinnati thirty four to seventeen.
But it was the ra versus Seattle. I believe the
Raiders was down seventeen to three at the half finished
(05:06):
the game twenty three to twenty three. Was about the
kick was about to kick the winning field goal, and
the Seattle blocked it. Yes, Seattle blocked it. I mean
the Raiders in Seattle got a tie. I'm so not
mad at Gino and Pete going back to Seattle to
(05:27):
coma in them and leaving with a push or a draw.
Speaker 1 (05:30):
Let's go tonight.
Speaker 5 (05:32):

Speaker 2 (06:29):
If you're listening to Get Up with Erica Candy Faith Walk.
Speaker 4 (06:36):
Right now, hey man, Yes, it is time for the
faith Walk of the day. And y'all, I always get
a little emotional when I hear that line, and that
is your hold song. And who am I that you
are mindful of me? That's an actual scripture, you know, right,
Who am I that you are mindful of me?
Speaker 1 (06:55):
And that you love me?
Speaker 4 (06:56):
And it is just an overwhelming thought that the creator
of the universe thinks of me? Right that I wake
up in the morning with brand new mercy that he's
not too busy with the world, that he forgot me,
that he's aware of what hurts my heart. He's aware
of what is inside of me and wants to use
me for his glory.
Speaker 1 (07:14):
And more than use me, have a relationship with me.
Because God doesn't just want to use you. He wants
to know you and wants you to know him.
Speaker 4 (07:22):
It's not about you just doing something, it's about you
being his and his own and that is so comforting
to me, especially you know, I grew up in a
big family, so there's always a lot to do, right
a big family and then a church family.
Speaker 1 (07:35):
So serving is.
Speaker 4 (07:36):
Just a part of my life, whether it was going
to prisons when I was a little girl, or my
mom always mentoring someone being a church always serving, whether
it was the choir or the prayer team or the
youth ministry.
Speaker 1 (07:47):
There's always something to do, and.
Speaker 4 (07:48):
So you feel effective being used by God. But when
he's mindful of you, he's mindful of the time that
you need to just get a hug, or he's mindful
of the time that you just feel emotion you're a
little bit overwhelmed.
Speaker 1 (08:02):
And God sees that side of you too. It's not
like I know.
Speaker 4 (08:05):
Sometimes church people will tell you, you know, you just
keep working, just keep going to church. Yeah, but God
is mindful of my pain. If Jesus wet, if Jesus
had a moment praying, going, Gosh, man, this is tough.
Do I have to do this? You know, He is
aware of where you are emotionally and spiritually and sometimes
even physically. So rest in that. Sometimes, don't be so busy.
(08:29):
I'm talking to all of us. Don't be so busy
going and doing that. You forget to just be and
God knows who you are and he cares about that.
Your personality was not an accident. Maybe you're the one
that they always say you're doing too much. He's saying
too much. God knows who you are. Or maybe you're
the quiet one. God knows who you are. Spend time
(08:50):
with the Father. Let him encourage your heart. Not because
you're doing anything, not because you're being used by God,
but you're just spending time with his and his presence
that you're just just telling him how much you love
him and letting his power and presence heal you, restore you, comfort,
you give you instructions, Just be there with you in
(09:10):
the moments that you are and He is aware of you.
He knows you, and he sees you. Don't you Let
no devil in hell tell you that he's not. God
is mindful of you. Oh I'm so grateful. That's so
encouraging to my heart. And I hope it blesses you too.
All right, that's the faith walk to day. Now it's birthday,
shout out time on this fabulous Friday. Eight seven seven
two four two two four two six. Give us a

the Ericaism of the day, grip, I.

Let your word go for it here now.
Speaker 4 (14:50):
Yes, it is fresh Word Friday on get Up mornings.
And now it is time for a special message from
Pastor Mike Junior of the Rock City Church in Birmingham, Alabama.
Speaker 1 (15:00):
His message delay is not denial. Check it out.
Speaker 16 (15:03):
Unlit expectation leads to spiritual alesia. Michael, you forget what
God said, because you're frustrated with what he said, I
ain't happened yet. You said you weren't gonna be where
you are now six years ago, and look where you
at so all of a sudden, now you got spiritual amnesia.
Speaker 1 (15:26):
Can I ask you one question?
Speaker 16 (15:27):
How you cry because you ain't got guth.
Speaker 1 (15:29):
House when he puts you in this one?
Speaker 9 (15:31):
How you crying that you ain't.
Speaker 16 (15:33):
Been healed yet when He brought you this far? Some
of y'all need to tap into your memory and say, God,
hit your damn it. Put hey, I ain't denial, it's development.
Speaker 1 (15:45):
Hell's sermon.
Speaker 5 (15:48):
He will have you running around in your car like
you love such a great sermon, and he's so practical,
and he just I'm a fan. You know. I've been
listening to hard for like the last two and a
half years, sermons like once a week, and Brother's anointed
like all the music.
Speaker 1 (16:08):
But you know, the Bible, man, I love it.
Speaker 4 (16:11):
It's a great reminder that even if you're in a
waiting season or a holding pattern, remember what God did before.
Speaker 1 (16:18):
Don't lose your faith now because you're waiting. You know
what I mean. We're supposed to wait on the Lord.
Speaker 4 (16:23):
It's like when you tell your kids to wait on
something and they keep asking you for it.
Speaker 1 (16:26):
Yeah, they can ask, but they still got to wait
till you ready.
Speaker 17 (16:30):
You know that.
Speaker 1 (16:30):
Are you there? Are we there yet? Sandral? Are we
there yet? Are we there yet?
Speaker 4 (16:33):
You almost missed the process. I miss the journey trying
to get there faster than you should.
Speaker 1 (16:38):
Oh that was good.
Speaker 4 (16:40):
Waiting waits on your faith a little bit. But why
you're waiting, You got to remember you while you're waiting
to remember.
Speaker 1 (16:46):
I love it you preach them on Sunday shows. I
love that.
Speaker 4 (16:52):
Listen that is the fresh Wed on a Friday. Y'all
stick around the Erica as the Mother Day is up next,
they get up on it.
Speaker 2 (17:05):
You're listening to Get Up with Erica Kemp real Good
the er of the.
Speaker 9 (17:11):
Day on Get Up Mornings with Erica Cambo.
Speaker 1 (17:14):
Yes, it is time for the erica Ism of the day.
Speaker 4 (17:17):
And I don't know if you were around for the
Fresh Word from Pastor Mike Junior, but he talked about
delay not being denial and remembering what God has done
while you're waiting on what He's gonna do next. I
remember when I started this whole solo journey and I was,
you know, getting ready for what was to come. And
I had spent so much time with Tina, so much
time singing and Mary Mary, that I forgot that when
(17:38):
I was a little girl, I never dreamed of being
a duo.
Speaker 1 (17:40):
I never dreamed of what God did.
Speaker 4 (17:42):
This was a dream bigger than me, something that I
didn't imagine for myself. We happened to become a group
because we went to Warren and was like, yeah.
Speaker 1 (17:49):
We write songs. He was like, oh, y'all should be
a group. He was like, okay, uh.
Speaker 4 (17:53):
And so what I had to remember is that God
didn't forget the dreams that I had when I when
I was a little girl, and he reminded me of
that I was on a plane.
Speaker 1 (18:01):
I was on somewhere to sing for the first time.
Speaker 4 (18:04):
It was very scary starting the solo career because so
many people love Mary Mary.
Speaker 1 (18:09):
I mean, y'all still love Mary Mary, and I love
that too.
Speaker 4 (18:11):
But I knew that there was a season that God
needed to develop me, and I forgot about it.
Speaker 1 (18:17):
I was okay moving in this other thing.
Speaker 4 (18:18):
Because I totally forgot Erica, you dreamed another dreaming because
it hadn't happened a long time.
Speaker 1 (18:23):
You just let go of it, you stopped believing in it.
Speaker 4 (18:25):
But thanks beyond too, God who reminds us at the
right time, in the right season and moves us into
purpose and lets us know that you may have forgotten,
but I didn't forget.
Speaker 1 (18:33):
You may have forgotten, but I didn't forget you.
Speaker 4 (18:35):
Sewing and going to rehearsal and being faithful to church
as a young girl. I didn't forget you showing up
at church and being at the prayer meetings and the
Bible studies.
Speaker 1 (18:43):
And I believe where I'm walking in now.
Speaker 4 (18:44):
Is a result of the obedience that I sewed as
a young girl. And when I didn't have much and
didn't have the connection and didn't have a record deal,
I was still singing, Baby, you couldn't tell me nothing
of the Evangelistic Church of God in Christ.
Speaker 1 (18:57):
I was in that choir.
Speaker 4 (18:58):
I was there every Sunday when we had moreultiple services.
Speaker 1 (19:01):
I went to all the rehearsals.
Speaker 4 (19:02):
And I believe that what I'm walking in now is obedience,
and that obedience in that season has allowed me to
see the things that I'm seeing now in my life.
And I just I'm so grateful that God doesn't forget.
I'm so grateful that things do come to pass. So
for whoever's waiting, hold on, hold on, don't let go,
don't quit, keep dreaming, keep believing that God can, because
(19:23):
he absolutely will.
Speaker 1 (19:24):
I am a living witness.
Speaker 4 (19:25):
I'm telling you, I am a living testimony of what
God can do when you surrender and say yes, when
you walk in obedience and listen. Here's what's good about God.
I ain't always got to rite, y'all. I'm messed up
and jacked up sometimes too, and He still allowed me
to be in this place. And I'm just so so grateful.
So y'all, hold on to your faith, don't let go.
God still got you, and he remembers. We serve a
(19:47):
God who remembers. That's the area is of other day,
y'all stick around. We got joys and concerns up next him.
Speaker 1 (19:53):
Get up morning.
Speaker 2 (20:02):
If you're listening to get up that the church, say amen,
good time for joys and concerns.
Speaker 4 (20:15):
Saying to the Most High God, we are coming to
you lie from the get up Church of our Lord.
Doctor still un denominational, denominational A n C and me
E G element O P at parstlic church are going to.
Speaker 5 (20:25):
Crush all right, grip let him use thank you versus
lady pastor, gotta do this right.
Speaker 1 (20:34):
That was a great welcome. By the way, the way
trailed off. I don't want that. I don't want that
to go.
Speaker 5 (20:42):
Not only charl and I enjoy, but the people in
the car. Didn't you thank you for your your welcome.
First giving honor to God, who's ahead of my life.
I'd like to say I'm glad to be in the
house of the Lord one more.
Speaker 1 (20:59):
Time, elder girl. Now, huh, because.
Speaker 5 (21:01):
He brought me from a mighty, mighty long way Since then, Eric,
God could have been said in the grave.
Speaker 18 (21:10):
But God is good.
Speaker 1 (21:12):
All the time and all the time.
Speaker 5 (21:17):
Yes, yes, someone told me recently, Griff, you should bring
your tambourine to church. I shouldn't, how about it. I
know how tambourine players at churches need to be.
Speaker 1 (21:26):
I'm not him, I'm not that sweet. I'm by my knee.
Speaker 5 (21:30):
Shut up, Cheryl, I'm by my knee with a little
noise that people could say, who got a tambourine?
Speaker 1 (21:36):
That's all I wanted. Who got anyway? Today? Or should
I say tomorrow? First preseason game of the NFL. Ladies
and gentlemen. Yeah, here we go. Here, here we go.
Speaker 6 (21:49):
Yeah, season one.
Speaker 5 (21:50):
And here's what's special about if you're a Raider fan.
Here's what's special. The Raiders play the Seattle Seahawks.
Speaker 1 (21:58):
Griff.
Speaker 5 (21:58):
So what, it's not a big deal, it's just preced
But let me explain the ramifications of this game. The
Raiders new head coach is Pete Carroll. Pete Carroll is
a longtime head coach for the Seattle Seahawks. The Raiders
starting quarterback is Geno Davis. Geno Davis is a long
(22:20):
time quarterback for the Seattle Seahawks.
Speaker 19 (22:22):
So this game means something. This ain't say a little

go inside.
Speaker 19 (25:18):
Taking you back away, sitting in the class.
Speaker 4 (25:25):
We are taking you back to nineteen ninety four from
the Live in Atlanta record. It's Bishop has a Kyawalker
with I will go in Jesus Name on Get Up Mornings.
We're inside the Vintage Ball, and that was Bishop has
a Kiawalker with I Will Go in Jesus' Name. Another
(25:47):
song from that Live in Atlanta record, Ooh, it's a
good one Calling my Name with Pastor Timoedy figure Row
singing on faceof can Get Up Mornings.
Speaker 1 (26:02):
From the Vinchach Fault.
Speaker 4 (26:04):
That was Bishop has a Kiawalker be calling my name,
and that lead singer was classic Timedy figure, y'all. I
listened to that and I just that song just encouraged
my soul. It blessed me. It's still one of my
favorites to this day. And you know, in light of
the recent conversations about choirs being dead, Bishop has a
(26:25):
Kywalker has a collection of songs that people will be
singing for a lifetime. Bishop has used his success to
continue to build choir.
Speaker 1 (26:32):
Music and the city he grew up in.
Speaker 4 (26:35):
He just completed affordable housing project with about two hundred
and thirty homes affordable houses in Brooklyn, New York.
Speaker 1 (26:43):
I love Bishop has Cheryl. What do you love about
Bishop Man?
Speaker 4 (26:47):
He's just the blueprint right in our era of choir music.
Speaker 1 (26:52):
I want to say, when he came out, it was fresh, it.
Speaker 4 (26:55):
Was new, it was what we wanted to hear as
you know, teenagers and young adults, and it was such
a great model and every choir at the time. You know,
when when Hiss came out, choir music and our hbc
US was huge, which is why Virginia Union University made
him the name, you know, named after the school of
music there.
Speaker 1 (27:15):
So I am really, really.
Speaker 4 (27:17):
Excited about his he's got he's got his imprint in
this gospel culture.
Speaker 1 (27:21):
Listen, I'll make it and clean inside. When I was
in high school, where's your mind?
Speaker 20 (27:27):
Right?
Speaker 1 (27:27):
Oh my God?
Speaker 4 (27:28):
And it's literally saying the same thing on the clean inside,
you don't care? You singing this song forever, doing the
moves and everything.
Speaker 1 (27:36):
I love it. What about you, Greg, when'd.
Speaker 5 (27:38):
You meeting Bishop has and and and being in his
presence and talking to him on the side about the
gospel And they're not even really knowing him, how how
big he was. But just listening to this og tell
me everything about the game right and and what he
did that.
Speaker 1 (27:56):
Affordable housing project.
Speaker 5 (27:58):
I don't think it's getting as much recognition as it should.
Speaker 1 (28:02):
As it should it's a huge deal to talk more about.
Speaker 4 (28:06):
It, especially in light of people love talking about what
churches ain't doing. And I'm telling you, I know some
churches that are building schools, that have housing programs, that
have prison programs where they are helping rehabilitate people. So
shout out to Bishop has who's been doing great work
for such a long time. And you know what, I
can't think of a bad HEAs a kid walker record,
(28:27):
I can't write multiple hits on it, No man, Every
record has had multiple multiple hits. The church are still seeing,
so we celebrate. Bishop has A Kyle Walker.
Speaker 1 (28:36):
I love.
Speaker 4 (28:37):

spirit love him all right, guys, stick around. We're remembering

Speaker 1 (29:13):
Hey, it's another great day.
Speaker 18 (29:14):
This is doctor Willie Jolly.
Speaker 3 (29:16):
Today's tip for success is that your attitude is much
more important than the facts. While speaking at a senior
citizen program, a lady in her seventies stopped me and
said that she was depressed because she didn't feel useful anymore.
I asked her if she realized that Colonel Sanders didn't
start Kentucky Fried Chicken until he was sixty five, Clara
Pella didn't say Where's the Beef and become a popular
(29:38):
TV star until she was in her eighties. And George
Burns won an oscar in his nineties and signed a
ten year contract with Caesar's polace. Senior citizens are running marathons,
opening businesses, scaling mountains, and doing all sorts of amazing things.
They realize that they are getting older, but the attitude
is one of I would rather wear out than rust out.
(29:59):
Once I shared heard that new sheet, got a new
attitude and got excited about her possibilities. I encourage you
to get excited about your possibilities, no matter what age
you are.
Speaker 1 (30:10):
This is doctor Willy Jolly. Look go to win with
Willy dot com.
Speaker 3 (30:13):
When with Willy dot com for resources to help you
win more, and remember to make the most of every
minute because your best is yet to come.
Speaker 1 (30:20):

Speaker 21 (30:22):

We're gonna do all the things we do. Yes when
you can't do it virtually, how about man, we gotta
(30:59):
spread the word. We gotta tell people, you know what
I mean. Like think of the big marketing companies. They
never stop telling you to buy my products, even though
people have been products for hundreds of years.
Speaker 1 (31:08):
Let's do the same with the church.
Speaker 4 (31:10):

Cortez and Vashan Mitchell.
Speaker 1 (37:21):
Here's Maverick City with constant on Get Up Morning.
Speaker 6 (37:29):
Loco.
Speaker 4 (37:29):
Welcome on the line with us today is multi award
winning producer artist pastor and friends of the Get Up
Church is Pastor Mike Junior. Welcome back to Get Up Mornings. Hey,
how y'all doing doing good? So listen, you got a
brand new single. The other one is probably still number one,
but you're about to give us a whole nother one.
Speaker 1 (37:47):
So introduce this new song that we'll come back and
talk about it.
Speaker 6 (37:51):
Oh man, It's a song entitled turning Around.
Speaker 15 (37:54):
Man.
Speaker 12 (37:54):
I just really believe we're in the season right now
with everything going on in the climate, we just need
to turn not just a turn in our favor, but
a turn in our dispensation, to turn in our joy,
a turning our peace, and it's super excited about it.
Speaker 9 (38:07):
Wrote this song with a couple of friends, and I
really believe it's gonna bless.
Speaker 6 (38:09):
A lot of people.
Speaker 4 (38:10):
It is turned Around on Get Up Mornings, Get Up Mornings.
Speaker 6 (38:14):
Campbell, Get Up Demute.
Speaker 4 (38:20):
That's after my Junior with his news single turn it Around,
and that's another one past to Mike. So how does
this song tie you into the larger message of your
mixtape Confetti and Conspiracy.
Speaker 9 (38:32):
Uh, it's a powerful message, man, Like I.
Speaker 12 (38:34):
Tell everybody, You'll be surprised how many people see a
blessing but don't know your burden, or see your consetti and.
Speaker 6 (38:41):
Don't know your conspiracy.
Speaker 12 (38:42):
You know, I went through probably skyrocket in five years
when I hit the gospel singing five years ago, but
because of internal struggles with anxiety, because of certain things
I went through, I can honestly say drifts.
Speaker 6 (38:54):
I never enjoyed ninety.
Speaker 9 (38:57):
Five percent of what God was doing because.
Speaker 12 (38:59):
The entire time I was focusing on the miners instead
of majoring in the things that God was doing. So
for me, this song, when I say turned Around, one
of the parts was have you ever been down so
long that.
Speaker 6 (39:10):
You couldn't look up? And you don't know what to do.
Speaker 12 (39:13):
And I discovered that most people think that the mountaintop
is the blessing. What I discovered is in my maturity
season that the real blessing is in the valley. Yes,
most of us are programmed to make it through struggle.
It's the success that will break you. So for me,
it's the turn around.
Speaker 1 (39:29):
Never forget it a real pastor.
Speaker 5 (39:31):
But pastor, how do you balance in and you do
talk about being depressed and having anxiety, but then you
you know you're this big pastor and you're just traveling.
How do you even get it together for somebody listening
and going through the same thing.
Speaker 6 (39:47):
I'm just very transparent man.
Speaker 8 (39:49):
You know.
Speaker 12 (39:49):
I believe if I could put together my favorite event
or my favorite podcast, I would love to talk to
Erica because we saw all that they be with Mary,
Mary being ridiculed for a dress, or you get to
see all these highs. And what I've discovered in this
season in my life is I am done pretending to
(40:10):
be something that I'm currently not in Erica knows there's
been a first lady. Being an artist, being an entertainer,
we have to always be on and it's almost like
have you ever told a.
Speaker 6 (40:22):
Lie so long as you start believing it.
Speaker 1 (40:24):
One of those like I told you I never get.
Speaker 6 (40:27):
I said, man, I was working out and lost weight.
Boy you had surgery. Stop them.
Speaker 12 (40:30):
Oh it's one of those things group where I start
telling people, Oh, no, I got this, I got this,
and you started believing a lie. Unto you say for
the reality that you couldn't run from. So for me,
I'm gonna always be transparent. I'm gonna always do my
best to just.
Speaker 9 (40:47):
Be honest about where I am.
Speaker 6 (40:49):
And for me, Rock City isn't just a place where
I preach.
Speaker 12 (40:52):
It's also a place where I heal because as I
grow through things, we grow through them together.
Speaker 4 (40:59):
It's so true, and I think that once we teach
people how to be in the valley and the mountain,
we equip them better growth.
Speaker 1 (41:07):
We are proud of you for your honesty.
Speaker 4 (41:09):
Not many, you know, men of God and people that
are successful in music industry are willing to be dishonest,
and I think it gives license to so many younger
people who are struggling. So thank you for that transparency.
Before you go, How can we pray for you?
Speaker 12 (41:22):
If you can do anything for me? It's a crazy question.
I love this question. How can you pray for me?
Just say, Lord, keep them wholly, humble and hungry. That's
my thing. Man, Holy, I'm going to add another age, holly, humble, hungry,
and honor. One of the things that I've learned. I've
been doing a lot of reflecting lately. And my son
asked me. He said, Dad, you got any regrets? And
(41:44):
I can honestly say I don't have many regrets. I
got two or three things that I wish.
Speaker 6 (41:48):
I could get better.
Speaker 3 (41:49):
You know.
Speaker 12 (41:49):
I spoke out on some things about a year and
a half ago concerning other artists that I wish I
wouldn't have. Did you look back now?
Speaker 9 (41:57):
And there is a way that seems right with Nicky
and there will a destruction.
Speaker 12 (42:01):
So for me, if you could just pray for me
to stay, stay in God's purpose, stay in God's will,
stay authentic to who I am, and make wise decisions
that will help me so much.
Speaker 4 (42:12):
We got you, Pastor Mike, thank you for dropping by today.

due to Blackstock's illness. She said, while I normally keep
my personal life private, this past year, my children's father
has been ill, and at this moment I need to
be fully present for them. The Clarkson and Blackstock married
in twenty thirteen, and his father, Norvil Blackstock, previously served

as Clarkson's manager. The couple had two children together, River Rose,
