The show opens strong with Erica’s Faith Walk “Let Patience Work,” reminding listeners that waiting isn’t passive — it’s a spiritual discipline. She leans on Scripture (e.g. James 1:2–4, Galatians 5:22) to encourage believers to let patience mature their faith, especially when prayers seem delayed or situations feel stagnant. Her words hit home as she urges the church not to rush or compare seasons — trusting God’s timing can lead us into deeper purpose and greater strength.

Mid-show, gospel singer–songwriter Charles Butler Jr. stops by to debut his newest track, Jesus Reigns, sharing his journey and how he hopes his music leads listeners back to hope, worship, and identity in Christ. The segment brings tangible encouragement: Butler talks about grace, perseverance, and using your talent to uplift others. Later, Erica shifts into Love Talk: “Love Yourself Enough,” urging listeners to examine their boundaries — especially self-care, soul care, and healthy relationships. She explains that loving yourself enough means refusing toxic cycles, speaking truth to yourself, and honoring the value God placed in you at creation. The episode blends spiritual depth, musical ministry, and tough self-reflection — making it a powerful dose of encouragement for anyone wrestling with waiting, self-worth, or direction.

Speaker 1 (00:00):
Just come and knock on our door, the door something.

Speaker 2 (00:07):
Good morning, good people, let's get up mornings. I'm Erica Campbell,
loving Jesus and loving you, and I hope you are
up and ready to have the best day ever, because
we sure are. Hey, good morning, get up church. Good
morning December second, come December. Yes, we are good and
in December.

Speaker 3 (00:24):
I love it. I love it. Listen, y'all, you know
what it is.

Speaker 2 (00:28):
We'll have the faith Walk Birthday shout out to eleven
minutes after the hour, Sybil will give us the five
things we need to know. But first, you know what
we gotta do. We gotta pray. Lord Jesus. I just
thank you and I praise you so much for this
day and today You've made will rejoice and we will
be glad in it.

Speaker 3 (00:41):
Father.

Speaker 2 (00:42):
We will enter your gates with thanksgiving and come before
your courts with praise, Lord Jesus. As we enter in Lord,
your presence, your power, your love. Lord, It's not a building,
it's being with you. So help us to remember that
we could be with you, whether we in church on
a Sunday or talking on a Tuesday. Cover us with
your blood, keep us safe from our heart harm.

Speaker 3 (00:59):
And danger. Keep your arms wrapped around us.

Speaker 2 (01:01):
Lord, love on us today and we'll give you all glory,
honored praise because it all belongs to you in Jesus'
money name.

Speaker 3 (01:06):
We pray, Thank God, Amen, Amen, Amen.

Speaker 2 (01:09):
Great music from Elanda Adams, Miranda Curtis and Mary Mary.

Speaker 3 (01:14):
We've got girl power this hour. I love it. Here
is Tasha Cobb's Leonard with church on Get Up Morning.

Speaker 2 (01:23):
You all right, Sybil, what's in the news.

Speaker 4 (01:31):
It's Sybil Wokes with what we need to know? With
unanswered questions and speculation swirling. Reverend Mark Thompson of Black
Press USA spoke with terrorism and intelligence expert Malcolm Nance
about last week's shooting of National Guard members on Naked
Plain Nan to analyze the case of the accused gunman
Ramanula Lachenwalt, who was suspected in the shootings of West

(01:53):
Virginia National Guard members Sarah Beckstrom and Andrew Woolf. Nance
raised pointed questions about the suspects movements, asking if he
travel coast to coast by car, and then pressing investigators
with so, where's the vehicle. After starting the year demoralized
by losses at the White House and in Congress, Democrats
are finishing with signs of momentum, driven by strong performances

(02:17):
and special elections. In four earlier special House races, Democrats
outperform their twenty twenty four margins by an average of
sixteen points, boosting hopes they could further narrow the Republican majority.
That momentum will be tested Tuesday in Tennessee's seventh congressional district,
where early voting suggests a more favorable environment for the

(02:40):
Democrat Aten Vane against Republican Matt van Apps. A little
advice from our CPA to the stars, Katrina kraft And says,
if you are an s core owner, there's a valuable
tax deduction many business owners missed, and once the year
ends it's too late to fix. To qualify for the

(03:01):
score health insurance deduction before December thirty, first, your company
must either pay for or reimburse your health insurance, and
that amount must be correctly included in box one of
r W two, not boxes three or five. When done properly,
you can deduct those premiums on your personal tax return,
reducing your taxable income and potentially saving a significant amount

(03:25):
in taxes. I'm Sybil Wilkes, be informed, be in powered
in bridgame.

Speaker 5 (03:32):
It's get up sports a minute.

Speaker 3 (03:35):
By What a Monday night football game? Last night?

Speaker 6 (03:38):
The Patriots just rounded the New York Giants. Sorry Hector
bas Quaz thirty three to fifteen. The Patriots are eleven
and two second year quarterback, first year coaches. I'm not
mad at him. And then then he used to play
with New England. They sweep right now. The University of
Kentucky hires Oregon's offensive coordinator Will Stein as their new

(04:01):
head coach. They fire Stoops over the weekend. He's still
old about thirty eight million. Northwestern old coach Pat vish
Gerald will be Michigan State's new head coach. So James
Madison's Bob Chesney is taking his coaching challenge to UCLA,

(04:22):
but he will be coaching JMU and their sun Bell
Championship game this week.

Speaker 3 (04:27):
We all know who's.

Speaker 6 (04:28):
In, and the college football playoffs tonight who's outside, and
then the championship games this week.

Speaker 3 (04:35):
It's gonna be crazy, man.

Speaker 6 (04:36):
There's a lot of college football still left and I'm
still geeked them, Griff And that's your quick sportsman in surel.

Speaker 3 (04:43):
With the birthdays, thank you, Griff.

Speaker 2 (04:45):
If you're celebrating your birthday, you're celebrating with a Valerie
holiday with Tretch with actor Alfred Enoch and my cousin
Eddie Baller. His birthday is today. And if it's your birthday,
well you know the drill. You get a chance to
shot that thing out coming up in fifteen minutes on
the birthday shoutouts on Get Up Mornings with Erica Candle,

(05:13):
if you're listening.

Speaker 1 (05:14):
To Get Up.

Speaker 3 (05:17):
Faith Walk.

Speaker 1 (05:20):
Right now, amen, faith.

Speaker 2 (05:24):
All right, good people, It's time for the faith Walk
of the day. And yesterday I was telling the Get
Up Church about me starting this new workout, and so
what I have to make sure that I don't do
is want the results.

Speaker 3 (05:38):
Now, you go to the gym and you go look
in the mirror.

Speaker 2 (05:40):
What you're looking at the mirror for You're not gonna
see nothing yet. But I have to keep going. You
have to change your diet, you have to drink water,
you have to get your exercise. But the thing is
wanting the results fast. Some things only come in time.
We at California Worship Center every Sunday say God does
all things well and in perc timing, we are not

(06:01):
anxious for we know you do all things well and
in perfect timing.

Speaker 3 (06:04):
That is a lesson for life.

Speaker 2 (06:06):
Whether you are raising kids, whether you are starting a
business or trying to lose weight. It takes the time
that it takes, and you have to be dedicated and
committed to it.

Speaker 3 (06:15):
Even with growing in.

Speaker 2 (06:16):
The Lord, you know you have to take your time
and listen. As you grow, you will evolve. So the
lessons that you learned younger, guess what, and now that
you're older, you'll have new lessons. But y'all don't get discouraged.
It just comes with it. The same way. I can't quit.
This is only week two for me. I can't go
to the mirror and go, oh, it's not weak. It's
only week two. And it took you way longer to

(06:36):
get fat, so it's gonna take some time to get unfat.

Speaker 3 (06:39):
It took you longer to get where you are.

Speaker 2 (06:41):
It took you a long time to get where you are,
so to get out of that place, it's going to
take time. Whether you are struggling with addiction or trying
to get healthy, trying to overcome from loss, it just
doesn't happen fast. Ladies and gentlemen, and I love us
so much, but I pray that we have the patience.
The Bible says, let patience have her perfect work. And
so what I love about patience, you have patience having

(07:02):
its perfect work, is that while it works, once you
get there, you are one hundred percent sure that you're better.
You are one hundred percent better that you're sure that
you're healed. You are one hundred percent sure that you
have grown past that situation.

Speaker 3 (07:14):
But it takes time. So allow the time.

Speaker 2 (07:16):
Pray during that time, ask for patients, ask for strength,
Ask God to give you what you need to walk
through this storm, whatever it is. Maybe it's not a storm,
maybe it's just a test, a trial, because we all
go through them. But be patient as you walk through
and get to the better place. It's going to take
time to get to the better place. I know you
want it today, but today is not the day. So
keep living, keep growing, keep pushing, keep trying.

Speaker 3 (07:39):
It's coming.

Speaker 2 (07:40):
Let patience have its perfect work, all right, that's my faith.
Walk I love you and I mean it all right,

from Forashan Mitchell, Jordan Armstrong and James Fortune. Hey, good people,
if you're in Atlanta, you need to be at the
Soul Seecret Live recording on Saturday at New Hope with

(14:02):
with the Soul Seekers and Mary Mary is singing too. Yeah,
my brain paused for a moment the Soul Seekers. So
I hope I see you on Friday in Atlanta. All right,
here's my song, positive on, Get up On.

Speaker 8 (14:16):
Come.

Speaker 17 (14:24):
Good morning, Sibyl, Good morning, my friends. Oh I love
it what you sing?

Speaker 3 (14:29):
Plenty good morning.

Speaker 8 (14:30):
How are you?

Speaker 3 (14:31):
I'm good, I'm good. She's live, Ladies and gentlemen, with
the five things you need to know.

Speaker 2 (14:35):
So in the newsletter you mentioned that there are unanswered
questions around the National Guard shooting.

Speaker 3 (14:40):
Tell us more so, as.

Speaker 17 (14:43):
Our friend our Sinio Hall used to say, it's enough
to make you go hmm. And I don't want to
make light of this, but there's just so many unanswered questions.
As you say, Erica, uh So, the discussions are going on.
And our friend Reverend Mark Thompson of the Black Press
USA spoke with the terrorism and intelligence expert Malcolm Nance

(15:03):
about last week's shooting of the National Guard members, and
Nance analyzes the case of the accused gunman Lacajana, who
is suspected in the killings of the West Virginia National
or the shootings of the West Virginia National Guard members
one woman was killed, Sarah Bextrom, and Andrew Wolf is
still fighting for his life. So Malcolm Nance is one

(15:27):
who really can ask those questions because, as I said,
he is an expert in this area. And so he
raises some questions about the suspects movements, you know, traveling
across the country from Washington State to Washington.

Speaker 18 (15:39):
D C.

Speaker 17 (15:40):
And asking if he did travel by car because usually
you see situations, well, if something like this has happened,
they immediately find his car and they take possession of
it and they do this thorough investigation, not hearing much
about this, and so he asked them if he did
travel by car, where's the vehicles? One of the first questions.

(16:01):
And so the questions start there, griff and hopefully they'll
get some answers. But it is one of those cases
that is just so quizical, so unanswerable in many respects
that we are just trying to find what happened. Who
is this man who used to work with the CIA
for years as an Afghani citizen and now all of

(16:23):
a sudden he goes rogue if you will, and does
this horrible act. That is a really great conversation that
we want you to hear and what we need to
know new this letter.

Speaker 2 (16:33):
Wow, Okay, Tennessee special election is putting a Democratic momentum
in twenty twenty five races to the test.

Speaker 3 (16:40):
Tell us more.

Speaker 17 (16:42):
It's voting day. And until just the last special elections
they had for a governor into States and other elections
for the mayor of New York, Democrats were feeling mighty low.
But now they have big mos. They used to call
it the momentum behind them and so now a lot
of concerns as the election takes place in the special

(17:04):
election in Tennessee, and they say that momentum is going
to be tested in the seventh Congressional district. Early voting
has already suggested a more favorable outcome for the Democrat
Afton Bane, who is running against the Republican Matt van At.
So we're keeping an eye on that as people as
the country as well as the Congress is undergoing a

(17:27):
lot of changes and anticipation of a different kind of
outcome in twenty twenty six for the midterm elections.

Speaker 6 (17:35):
Gret Okay, So I know you guys some good news
you share how James Harden gives new Adidas sneakers.

Speaker 3 (17:42):
To the boys and girls glove. I want to hear
all about it. I'm a fan.

Speaker 17 (17:47):
I'm a fan of his as well, and so it is.
It's a great situation where the La Clippers star brought
out the hardened volume tens by giving sneakers to the
boys and girls club Boys and Girls clubs of LA
and talking about the next generation. And so before they

(18:07):
had their big game, the Clippers against the Lakers, he
welcomed the boys and girls port guy and gave them
a real pregame experience that will last the lifetime, including
some really nice sneakers. And I know their parents are
very happy about that. If you're looking at the price
bag of sneaks.

Speaker 2 (18:23):
The days right right, all right, ladies and gentlemen, there
it is there the things we need to know. There's
still more, So make sure that you that you sign

com to subscribe for the newsletter. I want to give

Thank you, we appreciate you.

Speaker 17 (18:49):
I appreciate you all too.

Speaker 3 (18:50):
Be well, thank you too. All right, ladies and gentlemen,
stick around.

Speaker 2 (18:53):
We've got more goodness and goodness on the way, the aircaism,
the joys and concerns, and of course more great gospel
music to encourage your soul.

Speaker 3 (19:00):
Is set your morning off right, don't go nowhere else,
get it morning.

Speaker 5 (19:11):
If you're listening to Get Up.

Speaker 1 (19:18):
Of the Day or Get Up Mornings with Erica Cambo,
yes it.

Speaker 3 (19:22):
Is the Eric of the Day.

Speaker 2 (19:24):
And I shared a clip on social media from Laugh
Cry Here Here where someone was talking about a decision
that they wanted to make and the family wasn't on
board and all this and all that, and I immediately
asked her did she feel like God called her? Was
it something that she wanted? Because there's a difference between
the two when you want something and when you want

(19:46):
when God wants something. And here's the hard part. If
if you want it but God don't want it, and
your family see it and they say, I don't know
about that. Sometimes you don't get mad at God. You
get mad at your family for even saying sometimes what
you I already know it is. Really you know, family
stuff can be very sticky and very difficult, and I
have a very big family, and.

Speaker 3 (20:07):
So sometimes there's a decision.

Speaker 2 (20:09):
And what I love about my family is we don't
always speak up with the what you shouldn't do first.

Speaker 3 (20:16):
My family is very comical.

Speaker 2 (20:17):
So when you give a good and absurd idea, they'll go, oh,
all right, well all right. You know, there may be
some side discussions because we may figure out, Lord, how
we gonna tell them that this ain't smart to do.
We are not in the family that is foreign to that.
So when they know that the family has something to say,

(20:38):
but it's coming from a good and loving place, we
do eventually bring it to the person because that's integrity,
and that's what you should do. Because if you see
somebody going the wrong way and you don't say anything,
do you even love them at all? And I know
sometimes you have to process through they won't listen or
they're not hearing me. But that doesn't mean that you
don't have a responsibility to speak up.

Speaker 3 (20:57):
I love when I hear stories of people saying that.

Speaker 2 (21:00):
They knew that it may cause friction in the relationship
or even cause a breach in the relationship, but they
felt the need to at least say it you know
that it is not a good idea, and I'm not
talking about them just not understanding because a lot of times, family,
especially if it's the older, mature family members, they may
not understand a newer or younger idea. But even still,

(21:23):
you should be able to speak up. And if you
love them enough, they should hear you, you know, when
you speak, if they love you too. It's always difficult,
you know, And I feel like, unfortunately a lot of
our families.

Speaker 3 (21:33):
I ain't gonna say nothing because they ain't.

Speaker 2 (21:35):
I ain't gonna say it, you know, And then the
wisdom that you're supposed to get you don't get because
you don't like the difficult conversation.

Speaker 3 (21:41):
It's okay if they have a difficult conversation, listen. I
love my.

Speaker 2 (21:45):
Nieces and nephews. They could be mad all they want to.
I'm gonna tell them the truth. But I've loved them
enough for them to know that anti Erka is not
seeing it from a mean place that I'm saying because
I love them and I think that.

Speaker 3 (21:56):
You know, they can get the truth other places.

Speaker 2 (21:58):
It is true, but you got a whole family and
you just won't listen at all. It shouldn't be the story.
Sometimes it is. But like my uncle Charles will say,
just keep living. Life gonna smack you real good in
the face. And I hope they get it sooner than later.
But for those of us that see, for those of
us that are a little more mature and you understand,
give the wisdom. It's okay, They'll be all right. Give

(22:20):
them the wisdom, give them the instruction, give it to
them at the right time. Give it to them in love,
you know, don't just bust them out. Don't post it
on Facebook. Jesus, y'all be doing too much on Facebook.

Speaker 3 (22:30):
I love you so much.

Speaker 2 (22:32):
But yeah, tell them, bring them over for lunch, have
a conversation, you know, maybe bring other people with you
so you guys can all gather together and have the conversation.

Speaker 3 (22:40):
But don't just watch them fail and fall and not
say nothing.

Speaker 2 (22:44):
Don't blame it on their parents if you will, Auntie,
just say something, say something, all right, I love you
and I mean it. That's the airchaism of the day. Sure,

Speaker 3 (28:27):
You absolutely glad to have you?

Speaker 2 (28:29):
Okay, so we're gonna talk in just a minute, but
introduce this song, Jesus Rains.

Speaker 10 (28:34):
This is Jesus Rains from My Life in Washington album
featuring Tia Askia right here from the Washington, DC area.

Speaker 3 (28:42):
Here it is on Get Up Mornings, Get Up Mornings
with Harold to Campbell Get Up debut.

Speaker 2 (28:49):
Yeah, yes, we are not surprised at how good that was.

Speaker 3 (28:56):
Oh my goodness. Jesus Rains by Charles Butler.

Speaker 2 (28:59):
Charles, you and Trinity have been singing for quite a
few years and we love this one. This year, you're
launching your Christmas concert called Mary's Christmas and Memory of
your mother, Mary Butler.

Speaker 3 (29:12):
Please tell us what this means to you.

Speaker 10 (29:14):
This means the world to me. So I've been going
through a season, as many may know, after losing my mom.
It's been a year now. I went through a season
of grief, and I say, how can I turn my
grief into someone else's release? And so this concert is
directly benefiting Girish Table, which is my church's food pantry
Impact One Church, and I feel like I just wanted

(29:37):
to do I wanted to have, you know, my pain,
turn that into purpose and to be able to give
back to something that she wholeheartedly believed in. My mother
volunteered for Gyrish Table on a bi weekly basis, and
this is something that she would be so proud of.

Speaker 2 (29:53):
Wow, why is why was Gyra's Table the right ministry
to support.

Speaker 3 (29:57):
In honor of your mom?

Speaker 10 (30:00):
It's the ministry that she literally bagged food for. You know,
she wasn't she wasn't the most mobile, but when she
would come to church and come and volunteer, she would
just at least open the back, so you know she's
she loved volunteering for Jivers Table. It meant the world
to her. And Jarris Table is an organization where we

(30:22):
give our food and we feed our community and it's
just like the food mecca for Capital Heights.

Speaker 6 (30:27):
Man Charles, we absolutely loved how you had your mama
on social media. Mother Butler, she was she was saved
in real life homy and did not have a role.
And everybody, know what, when you think about it, what
do you think your mom would love about what you're
doing right now in her honor?

Speaker 10 (30:46):
Well? I think I think it's something that meant so
much to her, and and just and and even for
the people who did follow me and and was introduced
to my mom. Eric. I remember we was at Tasha
Comm's recording and you came to my mom and my
mom was just like she knows me. That meant the
w her. Yes, I really appreciate the love that people

(31:09):
have how they loved my mom. But my mom was
an avid supporter of this organization and she just was
a sowler. She always was giving, you know, whether you
had you know, you know, some clothes that may be
in inappropriate. She was the old school mother. She wanted
to talk about she was going to go on that person,
hand you some money and said, baby, get you a
better bra.

Speaker 3 (31:31):
She was the old school I love it.

Speaker 10 (31:34):
That was my mama. That was my mama, and I
wow so and people people would miss her, but you know,
I just want to keep that legacy going with with
giving back and sewing back.

Speaker 3 (31:43):
I love it. I love it. Listen.

Speaker 2 (31:45):
The Bible tells us to honor our parents, honor mother
and father, that our days may be long.

Speaker 3 (31:50):
You will be blessed for honoring your mother.

Speaker 2 (31:52):
Now tell us how we can join with you and
donate to mother Butler's legacy through Mary's Christmas.

Speaker 10 (31:58):
You can go to my any of my social media platforms,
Charles Butler Junior. There is a direct QR code that
you can scan and goes directly to jyvers table and
you know where. Our goal is to see the least
five hundred families for Christmas, and it goes beyond Christmas.
This money is going to go. You know, we help
the community year round. So it's my heart again to

(32:21):
go to any of my social media platforms Charles Buler Junior,
or you can go online at Charles Butler Junior dot
org can get more information there.

Speaker 3 (32:30):

Speaker 20 (32:58):
Doctor Willie Jolly, It's another great day.

Speaker 3 (33:08):
This says doctor Willie Jolly, author of the book.

Speaker 21 (33:10):
Are set Back as a setup for a comeback Now
If I were to ask you, where is the richest
place in the world, I'm sure that some would say
the Mint in Washington, d C. Others would say Fort Knox,
and others would say the golden diamond minds that populate
the African continent. But all would be wrong. The richest
place in the world is the graveyard. What that's right?
The graveyard in it lies all the people who had

(33:32):
great ideas that would have made them wealthy. But they listened,
as said, to some negative person who used the word can't,
and they believed them. Then they took their great idea
with them to their graves. Their best song unsung, the
best invention undone, the best book unwritten, the best speech ungiven.

Speaker 1 (33:50):
Why because they.

Speaker 21 (33:50):
Listened to some negative person who used the word can't.
You can't do this, you can't do that. No, no,
I repeat, don't listen to them. Do not take your
riches to your grave. Hit them here. This is doctor
Willy Jolly. Go to win with Willy dot com for
resources that help you win more and remember your best as.

Speaker 1 (34:07):
Yet to come.

Speaker 1 (34:37):
You've heard from us.

Speaker 16 (34:39):
I'm excited really because I got gru get on.

Speaker 2 (34:45):
All right, Cheryl, what are we talking about today? Today
is Giving Tuesday? And I felt like today that we
should talk about some organizations.

Speaker 3 (34:54):
That we'd love to give today.

Speaker 2 (34:57):
And I want to give the Give Get Up Church
an opportunity to share any organization that's a nonprofit or
organization that's doing great for our community, that's doing something
or pouring into it.

Speaker 3 (35:07):
Could be a church.

Speaker 2 (35:08):
It could be a church that's doing because I know
it's a number of things that we're doing and you
guys have talked about it as well in our community
where we take up a Benevolence fund every single Sunday
so that we can bless somebody in the community when
people call and they have a need we want to
be able to meet the need, you know what I mean,
and being able to get food and being able to
get resources. Sometimes that takes a lot outside of you

(35:32):
already all the expenses you already have at church.

Speaker 3 (35:35):
Now, one of the.

Speaker 2 (35:35):
Organizations that I really want to love on is Divine
Dance Institute. This is a dance organization that my daughter's
a part of. My girlfriend Amanda's standard owns this. You've
probably seen them. If you've seen dancers with JJ Harriston
and you for Praise, you've seen Divine Dance. You've seen
them at Alan Memorial, You've seen them like they are amazing.

(35:56):
But what I love about them is how they give.

Speaker 3 (35:59):
To the community.

Speaker 2 (36:00):
So dance classes that that families can't afford, Amanda allows
them to dance anyway, and she just covers the expense
for their you know, uniforms and all the things that
they need, and they you know, she also has a
big heart for the youth, so she provides a place
for them to go for recreation and all of that.
So Divine Dance Institute is one of the organizations that

(36:22):
I want to pour into today and support for Giving Tuesday.

Speaker 3 (36:26):
So what about you guys, let's see. There is choice group.

Speaker 2 (36:33):
Of course, you know, beyond the walls our California Worship
Center outreach program we do homeless people once a month
and I mean not do home, but we go give
and pray for and feed and clothe the homeless. Downtown
Los Angeles with so many churches are doing, uh, doing
great work. There's the Live Free Organization pastor Mike McBride,

(36:54):
and they literally fight for justice for people who you know,
don't have lawyers and you know those really complicated cases.

Speaker 3 (37:02):
So yeah, there's there's a few.

Speaker 6 (37:03):
What about you, Greg, I'm Saint Jude always with me first.
But then local uh, my god, Kenneth Braswell has an
organization organization called Fathers Incorporated. And what I love about
him they do legitimation reform in Georgia. Legitimation is when

(37:24):
you have a kid with a woman and you're that
kid's father, but you aren't married, and you didn't stand
in front of a judge and say this is my
kid to make it legitimate. And a lot of times
men don't know about that. I didn't know about it, uh,
you know, so just doing great things. And then he

(37:44):
has General Warriors where they help they help fathers, strengthen
fathers and families and stuff.

Speaker 3 (37:50):
So I'm just a big fan of you know, dudes,
help with dudes.

Speaker 2 (37:54):
Yeah, same, sound like legitimate fathers fighting for their rights.

Speaker 7 (37:57):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (37:58):
Yes, So we want to hear from you today. It's
Giving Tuesday. Who are you giving to? Or maybe you
have a suggestion for us to give to eight seven
seven two for two two four two six eight seven
seven two for two to six.

Speaker 3 (38:11):
Come on, y'all, let's let's show the love.

Speaker 2 (38:13):
Let's support those that are doing the work and be
a blessing. It's Giving Tuesday. Give us a call eight
seven seven two for two two four six. So who
should we be giving to? Get it mornings.

Speaker 5 (38:29):

I can get a morning.

Speaker 19 (38:41):

Speaker 2 (38:41):
You'll know it's Giving Tuesday, and so we want to
know who we should be giving to. Give us some suggestions.

with family supports and IMpower children and families to thrive
beyond their circumstances of homelessness.

I appreciated the lug and love legacy that they have
for their son and that they are blessing us as

was last year, could have been a year before that.
Being really touched my soul and I put myself in
that position, will try to imagine myself in that position.

Johnnysha Brown. I'm The organization is to support black mothers
during before Drian after pregnancy, and so that's who I'll

Speaker 3 (41:22):

with us today.

Speaker 23 (41:26):
Of course, thank you, thank you.

Speaker 3 (41:28):
All for calling, and Cheryl, I think you have one
more to share.

Speaker 10 (41:30):

Speaker 2 (41:31):
The Alzheimer's Association, the National Alzheimer's Association, really helped me
during the times I was caregiving for my mom.

Here to get up church.

Speaker 3 (42:49):
That's want to be gospel size listen.

Speaker 2 (42:52):
Coming out this hour the Love Talk of the Day
and trending topics. Music from CC winings, Tied Trimmt and
Lisa no Smith.

Speaker 3 (43:02):
Side.

Speaker 2 (43:03):
I learned that from lexing she don't want church fast.

Speaker 3 (43:09):
Here is trusting, okay, and get it. Let's talk about
love for God, so love the world.

Speaker 2 (43:21):
Yes, it is time for the Love Talk of the day.
And I was watching a clip of a young lady
and she was, you know, encouraging someone in a love relationship.

Speaker 3 (43:32):
Was a big room of room of people that she.

Speaker 2 (43:34):
Was helping the lady see herself in a loving way.
And so she was waiting on someone else's love to
make her feel loved. And I get it, I get
I get the idea of that, Like everybody wants to
be loved by somebody, right, But you've.

Speaker 3 (43:49):
Got to love yourself enough so if.

Speaker 2 (43:51):
Something goes awride with they love, you still got enough
love for yourself to keep moving on. It is heartbreak
to me when people break up and they just they
can never, never recover. Now listen, I'm not judging nobody.
I got a different kind of personality, a different kind
of constitution within myself and my ability to process and

(44:18):
heal and move forward. I know that's not everyone's process,
But let me help you with this today. When God's
love is the loudest love in your life, if someone
else lets you down, you still have something to hold
on to. And God's love sometimes has to be even
louder than what you feel for yourself. And if you
love him and believe him, you believe what he said.
You believe his ability to restore and to heal, to

(44:40):
make new. You believe his ability to make all things
work together for the good. So you don't get to
a hopeless state. Will you be broken and sad when
someone breaks up with you? Yes, when a marriage comes
to an end, yes, when someone walks away, Yes, when
a friendship fails. Yes, all of that hurts, But that
is not the end of your life. There is still
life after love lets you down human love, God's love

(45:03):
never will let you down. And you can't expect God's
love to be this thing that keeps everything and anything
from happening to you. What I love about the love
of God is that it's with me in the trenches
and in the low moments. And I have seen it
in my life with you know, with my father, with
my sisters, with my husband. I mean, I've seen it
over and over in my life where there's been an

(45:25):
issue and God's love is the thing that pushed me forward.

Speaker 3 (45:28):
It's so funny.

Speaker 2 (45:29):
Me and my husband were laughing at when we were
dating and we were also recording the Mary Mary record,
and we got to you know, a fork.

Speaker 3 (45:38):
In the road, what we're gonna do.

Speaker 2 (45:40):
You know, He's three years younger than me, so he
was like, I just need some space to figure.

Speaker 3 (45:44):
Out what I really want.

Speaker 2 (45:45):
Mind you, we have been dating for three four years,
and so you know, I was like, oh, of course
he's going to propose, and he says he needs to space. Well,
at the same time, I'm recording my very first album,
and so when he said he needed space, I was
at the studio and so I was supposed to come
back to the studio the next day. So while I
was hurt and cried over him needing space, because I
didn't know what that meant at the time, I've been

(46:06):
loving singing my whole life.

Speaker 3 (46:08):
I've been loving going to the studio my whole life.

Speaker 2 (46:11):
So I wasn't about to say I'm not coming to
the studio because you need space.

Speaker 3 (46:14):
I'm going to bathroom and cry it a little bit.

Speaker 2 (46:16):
But because I loved the purpose God had on my life.
I never hold God hostage and his promise for my
life because my heart is hurt, I have the ability
and the strength of God that helps me keep going.
So he was surprised I came. Tina was surprised I came.
But I bet you I had myself in that studio,
and the song that we were recording was thankful of

(46:38):
all things, but because I loved myself, because I knew
God loved me, because I had always loved singing. This
guy that I had been dating for a few years
wasn't gonna stop me from walking in purpose. When someone
lets you down, don't you stop walking in purpose. You
can slow down a little bit, you can even take
a pause, but don't you stop working in purpose, or
stop being you, or stop loving you, or stop doing

(47:00):
what you do just because they changed their mind or
how to issue. And you can't even be mad at
people for changing they mind. They get change your mind
if they want to, just like you change yours. But
you love yourself enough and let God's love be so
loud in your life that you can still keep moving forward.

Speaker 3 (47:16):
All right. That is the love talk of the day.
I love you and I mean it. You got to
love yourself and let God's love be loud in your life.

Speaker 1 (47:23):
All right?

Speaker 3 (47:24):
All right.

Speaker 2 (47:24):
Trending topics in the Quick Sports Minute are up next.

Speaker 1 (47:49):
Take it over the web. What is it? It's trending
topics up to the minute.

Speaker 3 (47:53):
All right, Cheryl, tell us what's trending? All right?

Speaker 2 (47:56):
We've been talking about this for a number of months.
And if you haven't gotten your your ID yet, well
you you need to pay the forty five dollars. AIRIC
Travelers in the US without the real ID will be
charged a forty five dollars fee beginning in February, so
you still got a little bit of time, but.

Speaker 3 (48:14):
You need to get this real ID.

Speaker 2 (48:15):
You got it, Erica, sound like you might not have
it neither confirmed, nor did I.

Speaker 3 (48:22):
I'm complying with it.

Speaker 2 (48:27):
The updated ID has been required since May of this year,
but passengers without it have to so far, you know,
have been allowed to be clear through security with additional screening. Yeah,
you can have it like an additional document. But they're
asking that you get the real ID. So man, y'all
tough it out in your DMV and your area and

(48:47):
go ahead and get that real ID. So as of
February you won't have to pay that forty five dollars fee.
We go, keep telling y'all till you get it. I'm
Eric and so so I love this story. So Senator
Cory Booker is married. He is married, Yeah, married his
fiance Alexis Lewis, and two separate ceremonies in his home

(49:10):
state of New Jersey and also in d C. He said,
overflowing with gratitude, we said I do in two places.
And in September, when Booker announced his engagement, referring to
his now wife as one of the greatest unearned blessings
of my life, is what he said. Booker, who had
been a lifelong bachelor, announced his engagement via post, which

(49:31):
kind of speculates people thinking that he might run for
the presidency because you don't really have a president with
our first lady. So man, I don't know, but the
prayer pleeg, I'm not president. I'm cleaning the fifth as
Eric has said, I'm just well.

Speaker 19 (49:48):
You can't.

Speaker 3 (49:48):
I mean, we ain't had no single president.

Speaker 2 (49:50):
Yo, exactly TV. That's anyway. So I believe he you know,
he said it's an unearned blessing. So a men, God
bless them. I love marriage and I love love gospel.

The Burden

The Burden

The Burden is a documentary series that takes listeners into the hidden places where justice is done (and undone). It dives deep into the lives of heroes and villains. And it focuses a spotlight on those who triumph even when the odds are against them. Season 5 - The Burden: Death & Deceit in Alliance On April Fools Day 1999, 26-year-old Yvonne Layne was found murdered in her Alliance, Ohio home. David Thorne, her ex-boyfriend and father of one of her children, was instantly a suspect. Another young man admitted to the murder, and David breathed a sigh of relief, until the confessed murderer fingered David; “He paid me to do it.” David was sentenced to life without parole. Two decades later, Pulitzer winner and podcast host, Maggie Freleng (Bone Valley Season 3: Graves County, Wrongful Conviction, Suave) launched a “live” investigation into David's conviction alongside Jason Baldwin (himself wrongfully convicted as a member of the West Memphis Three). Maggie had come to believe that the entire investigation of David was botched by the tiny local police department, or worse, covered up the real killer. Was Maggie correct? Was David’s claim of innocence credible? In Death and Deceit in Alliance, Maggie recounts the case that launched her career, and ultimately, “broke” her.” The results will shock the listener and reduce Maggie to tears and self-doubt. This is not your typical wrongful conviction story. In fact, it turns the genre on its head. It asks the question: What if our champions are foolish? Season 4 - The Burden: Get the Money and Run “Trying to murder my father, this was the thing that put me on the path.” That’s Joe Loya and that path was bank robbery. Bank, bank, bank, bank, bank. In season 4 of The Burden: Get the Money and Run, we hear from Joe who was once the most prolific bank robber in Southern California, and beyond. He used disguises, body doubles, proxies. He leaped over counters, grabbed the money and ran. Even as the FBI was closing in. It was a showdown between a daring bank robber, and a patient FBI agent. Joe was no ordinary bank robber. He was bright, articulate, charismatic, and driven by a dark rage that he summoned up at will. In seven episodes, Joe tells all: the what, the how… and the why. Including why he tried to murder his father. Season 3 - The Burden: Avenger Miriam Lewin is one of Argentina’s leading journalists today. At 19 years old, she was kidnapped off the streets of Buenos Aires for her political activism and thrown into a concentration camp. Thousands of her fellow inmates were executed, tossed alive from a cargo plane into the ocean. Miriam, along with a handful of others, will survive the camp. Then as a journalist, she will wage a decades long campaign to bring her tormentors to justice. Avenger is about one woman’s triumphant battle against unbelievable odds to survive torture, claim justice for the crimes done against her and others like her, and change the future of her country. Season 2 - The Burden: Empire on Blood Empire on Blood is set in the Bronx, NY, in the early 90s, when two young drug dealers ruled an intersection known as “The Corner on Blood.” The boss, Calvin Buari, lived large. He and a protege swore they would build an empire on blood. Then the relationship frayed and the protege accused Calvin of a double homicide which he claimed he didn’t do. But did he? Award-winning journalist Steve Fishman spent seven years to answer that question. This is the story of one man’s last chance to overturn his life sentence. He may prevail, but someone’s gotta pay. The Burden: Empire on Blood is the director’s cut of the true crime classic which reached #1 on the charts when it was first released half a dozen years ago. Season 1 - The Burden In the 1990s, Detective Louis N. Scarcella was legendary. In a city overrun by violent crime, he cracked the toughest cases and put away the worst criminals. “The Hulk” was his nickname. Then the story changed. Scarcella ran into a group of convicted murderers who all say they are innocent. They turned themselves into jailhouse-lawyers and in prison founded a lway firm. When they realized Scarcella helped put many of them away, they set their sights on taking him down. And with the help of a NY Times reporter they have a chance. For years, Scarcella insisted he did nothing wrong. But that’s all he’d say. Until we tracked Scarcella to a sauna in a Russian bathhouse, where he started to talk..and talk and talk. “The guilty have gone free,” he whispered. And then agreed to take us into the belly of the beast. Welcome to The Burden.
