Right now, Yes, it is time for the faith walk
of the day, and today I want to talk about
stepping walking, Yes, taking steps even when you don't see
what's next. Sometimes your faith walk won't feel like a
walk at all. It feels like a crawl or stumble
or shuffle through the dark. But faith isn't perfect steps.
(06:31):
It's forward steps.
Speaker 1 (06:33):
See. Faith doesn't ask you for sight, It asks you
for trust.
Speaker 3 (06:36):
Hebrews eleven and one says, now, faith, this is a
substance of things, hope for the evidence of things, not seeing.
That means while your eyes can't see it, your spirit
knows that it's already done. When you walk by faith.
You're saying, God, I don't have the details, but I
trust your direction. You're saying, even if I walk alone
for a moment, I'm still moving. You're saying, I believe
that I believe what you said, and I believe that
(06:59):
I will see it. Faith don't always feel good, but
it always grows you. So today, take the step, speak
the prayer, believe the promise. You don't need the full picture.
You just need to make the next move. You just
need to take the next step because on this faith walk,
God's not asking you to run. He's just asking you
to trust. That's the faith walk of they good people,

actually our lawyer. I'm Wendy, my girl, Wendy Libra, Wendy
Nia j R. Bang Lori Flowers. Let me tell you,

(14:47):
real cruise director, my guy Jack, our bosses, Kobe and Dion.
Speaker 1 (14:54):
Kobe and Dion and their wives came to all the shows.
Speaker 6 (14:59):
They just went from comedy shows, the ship church, to
Gary with the TT Party, to Riggy Smiley's Karaoke, to
the women in the business and aj and Free.
Speaker 1 (15:11):
It was really cool to see.
Speaker 6 (15:17):
The head of our company, the heads of our company
just walking around, smiling and joining the cruise.
Speaker 1 (15:23):
And Cookie. Let me tell you all about Cookie. Cookie.
Speaker 6 (15:30):
Now met Cookie at another on another cruise, but Cookie
was the life of the cruise. He was He did announcements,
He told us what was going on. Cookie is a personality,
and Cookie, where you got yours off for the last
(15:50):
week was around some of the biggest personalities in the country.
And you fit right in like you had a show
on somewhere that you have an announce hit Cookie, keep
doing your thing, keep reaching for the stars because you
are one. You was on a cruise with all of them,
and you fit right in. Man, I couldn't be more
(16:13):
proud of you. You are one of us. Cookie, and
anybody who don't know who Cookie is, go make you
a deposit right now. Tom joining proudation, fantastic boys. Hopefully
we can get cookie on next year. That was my
mister Griffin man. Just still grateful for the cruise, now
my health. Let me tell y'all something, If you go
(16:35):
on a cruise, you need a week off from the cruise.
But then how would I be able to talk about
the cruise if I had.
Speaker 1 (16:41):
A week off.
Speaker 6 (16:42):
So you people, if you go on a cruise, give
yourself some days. I think they call it sea legs.
Speaker 1 (16:49):
Yes, that's what they call it. That's my griff y'all
stick around. It gets better and better right here on
Get Up Mornings, we love you.
Speaker 2 (17:00):
If you're listening to Get Up Erica Cambal, God.
Speaker 1 (17:06):
Of the Day on Get Up Mornings with.
Speaker 3 (17:08):
Erica Campbell, well listen. I spent the day with about
three twenty twenty year olds. I think I talked about
them earlier this week, and they are just a special bunch.
But you know, it's making me think of my years
in my twenties with my girlfriends, and there's so many
things that they talk about, and so many of the
(17:29):
answers are just very telling of where they are and
it's always amazing to hear them in an offer advice
and sometimes chuckle a little bit, but I realize that
they are on this journey called life and there's some
things they just don't understand. But it's also making me
have compassion for my twenty year old self and some
(17:49):
of the questions that I had and what I wish
I had known already, in the decisions I wish I
had made already. They're so young, right that when you're
you're just getting to grown life. Some people starts earlier,
maybe you know, even sixteen seventeen, and they mature up
fast and they you know, kind of figure things out.
Speaker 1 (18:06):
But some it takes a little longer.
Speaker 3 (18:09):
And so what I do know, the scripture train of
a child and the way they should go doesn't just
mean seven year olds.
Speaker 1 (18:13):
It means we still got to love and nurture and train.
Speaker 3 (18:16):
And I remember group we were on ship church and
I was I asked, everybody, did you have it all
together in your twenties? And it was only one man
that race, and I said, good, look sir, God bless you.
But the rest of us, you know, we were trying
to figure it out. And so when you think of
twenty and sometimes even thirty year olds now instead of
beating them up, Let's help continue to train them up,
(18:36):
Let's give them the wisdom. It makes me think of
the young girls at my church and the ones that
are in my circle, and how we have a responsibility.
And I've literally started talking about this with my sisters
and in my girlfriend's circles, those of us that are
married with children that are sometimes in their twenties, Teaching
them instead of beating them up, teaching them instead of
telling them off, teaching them instead of writing them off
(18:59):
because of the mistakes they've made. Now, Yes, for me,
Me and Warren started telling our kids about, you know,
being grown and being mature when they was twelve, literally
warrant on our kids better get ready.
Speaker 1 (19:11):
Because eighteen we kicking you out. And I'll say, baby,
stop saying that.
Speaker 3 (19:14):
He said, Well, I just want them to know they
can't live here forever, which is a necessary message.
Speaker 1 (19:20):
But you have to train them.
Speaker 3 (19:22):
They have to learn about finances, they have to learn
about dealing with people, and they have to learn about
having integrity. They have to learn about really knowing God
and not just going to church and really finding faith
and really standing on the promises of God.
Speaker 1 (19:35):
There's so much that this world doesn't want them to know.
Of course, we know that's the enemy.
Speaker 3 (19:39):
Right, So when it comes to our young ones, let's
make sure that we are teaching and nurturing, that we
are sharing life and lessons and things, and not just
the scary things, not just things that will you know,
don't do this, don't just.
Speaker 1 (19:52):
The things that they should do. The people they should know,
you know what I mean, some of them.
Speaker 3 (19:56):
And even though people don't write checks and go to
the bank and stuff like that, used to at least understanding.
Speaker 1 (20:02):
Business, you know, just helping them.
Speaker 3 (20:05):
Some of them have the business stuff that they don't
know how to deal with people, or they know how
to deal with people, but they're not professional.
Speaker 1 (20:11):
There's always a reason to learn. Listen, I'm still learning
new things.
Speaker 3 (20:13):
I'm a thousand years old, and so there's always new
things to learn. And when you know there's new things
for you, you have a little bit of grace for
those that are younger and are still trying to become
the best version of themselves.
Speaker 1 (20:25):
All right.
Speaker 3 (20:26):
That is my ericaism for the day. Having compassion for
this next generation, this new generation that will be the leaders,
that will be the pastors and teachers that will be
the politician the world leaders, you know, and so let's
do a good job of loving them, training them, nurturing them.
And there's things that we can learn from them too.
(20:46):
You know, they're not all out of sorts. Some of
them are really really doing great things. So let's learn
to celebrate this next generation. We got to bridge the
gap between the young and the old because they need
us and we need them to. That's the ercaism for
the that y'all stick around the Joyson conturns her up next.
Speaker 2 (21:10):
If you're listening to get up with Erica Camp that
the church say Amen at the time for joys and concerns.
Speaker 3 (21:21):

voyage because it was fantastic and I had an amazing time.
Speaker 1 (22:33):
I think one of the highlights.
Speaker 6 (22:36):
Can I just shout out all the people from the
land two one six, Cleveland, Ohio, all the people from Ohio, all.
Speaker 1 (22:46):
The Buckeye fans that were on the ship bothering me
a ship church bothered me. No, I can't even lie.
I was just I was on their head. I was
go blow on them people to death.
Speaker 6 (23:01):
Uh.
Speaker 11 (23:02):
Me.
Speaker 1 (23:02):
And this one dude, I ain't even got his name.
Speaker 6 (23:06):
I just put a fantastic suck Eye fan as his
name in my fund. So me and him were smokers
of guards and his homeboy beat me in dominoes. I
do remember that a dude from Ohio beat me in dominoes.
We only played one game. I'm a two out of
three person myself, but the buck Eye fans I and
(23:30):
I hate saying this.
Speaker 1 (23:32):
I was kind of like tom me. They was.
Speaker 6 (23:35):
They was cool beating. They was shout up to the
cool Columbus and Cleveland people. That was on the fantastic
boy dude, we give you all the paths to the
last Saturday and Thanksgiving. Now I know somebody listening to
us on Joy and Columbus and go wait a minute,
because it ain't for foods the grip just say he
like a buck Eye fan, you get saying all right,
(23:57):
somebody else saying, grib loft the Dominoes on your business.
All right, but if you know, if you mean, you know,
just go blue forever. But likes over the bug Eye pants.
Speaker 1 (24:10):
And I'm screaming, I like it. Yes, you get that.
You was a ship church screaming go blue. I said, Jesus, Hey,
my name is Randy. I'm from Columbus, Ohio. Go blow.
(24:31):
I'm from Cleveland.
Speaker 3 (24:32):
I go blue because you know, some people don't care
as much as you care, so they'll be like, okay,
all right, No, but.
Speaker 6 (24:38):
They cared as much as I cared. That was not
all of them, not all of them, but not all
of them. I love you so much what it was

Speaker 1 (26:07):
As important for sickle cell warriors? Absolutely.
Speaker 4 (26:12):
Sickle cell disease is the most common inherited blood disorder
in the US, and it disproportionately affects the Black community.
Many depend on regular blood transisions to not only prevent complications,
but simply to just survide. And so through our sickle
cell initiative, we've increased the number of first time blood
donors who are Black by more than one hundred and
(26:32):
forty thousand, and we provided over three hundred thousand free
sickle cell traits. Brings the blood donors so they know
their sickle cell trait status. So awareness is critical, but
turning our compassion into real action is game changing.
Speaker 1 (26:47):
I know that's right.
Speaker 6 (26:48):
According to a recent study, about every two and a
half minute someone with sickle cell disease rides at a
US emergency room. Woof for folks listening right now who've
never donated blood, why is it critical of those who
are black to roll up their sleeves and donate just blood?
Speaker 1 (27:04):
Though?
Speaker 4 (27:05):
You know when patients with sickle cell receive frequent blood transisions,
they can develop an immune response to blood that is
not closely matched to their own. But blood donors who
are black are almost three times more likely to be
a match for patients with sickle cell compared to other donors.
So when someone arrives at the emergency room and nearly
(27:28):
two out of three times they're in severe pain, having
the right blood match available can mean the difference between
uncertainty and assurance.
Speaker 1 (27:37):
So blood donation is.
Speaker 4 (27:38):
A powerful way to support the healing of our brothers
and sisters, and a way to remind them that they're
not fighting alone.
Speaker 1 (27:44):
I love that, Tiffany.
Speaker 6 (27:46):
We're hearing more and more about breakthrough gene therapy treatments
to sickle cell disease. How do blood donations play a
role in these new treatments and what does this mean
for the future of sickle cell care.
Speaker 4 (27:58):
So the FDA approved too therapies for patients twelve and older,
which is transformative. These treatments modify the patient's blood themselves
to produce healthy red blood cells instead of sickled cells.
Speaker 1 (28:11):
But here's what many don't know. Patients undergoing these.
Speaker 4 (28:15):
Treatments can require up to fifty units of closely matched
blood and up to twenty five units of playlist let
me say that again, up to fifty units or pints
of blood. So these cutting edge treatments, they offer incredible hope,
but they still depend on blood donors to ensure that
patients are healthy enough to receive them.
Speaker 1 (28:37):
So the future of sickle.
Speaker 4 (28:39):
Cell care actually calls for more blood donors.
Speaker 1 (28:42):
Oh I love that.
Speaker 6 (28:43):
Okay, look, Tiffany, you don't talk me into it. I'm
going today. I'm going today.
Speaker 1 (28:48):
Where do I go?
Speaker 6 (28:49):
And I'm all positive? So everybody my blood is awesome?
But where would I go? You're joined by blood? Activation
is happening across the country right now. Somebody who's thinking,
just like me, I want to help, but I'm nervous.
I'm not nervous. But what would you say to them?
And just basically, Tiffany, tell me where I can give
blood today?
Speaker 4 (29:09):

be opposition. And the bigger the dream, the bigger the problems,

your dream, then focus on your dream, and then fight
for your dream because life will test you. The bottom
line is that you must have a dream and you

must make it big, because the bigger the dream, the
bigger the rewards, and anything worth having was worth fighting for.
If the dream is worth having, then the dream is
worth fighting for. There will be problems and opposition, but
if the dream is big enough, the problems don't matter.

Speaker 1 (32:41):
It's time for to get up pold question, Cheryl, what
are we talking about on today?
Speaker 3 (32:46):
So when I get lunch here at work, right, I
get a chance to If I don't get a chance
to fix my own, I'll try to get some healthier options.
There's a Sweet Greens right connected to our building, which
is like a salad eatery.
Speaker 2 (32:57):
Right.
Speaker 3 (32:58):
Of course, folks know about Prenier bread. There's a Babe Bop,
which is like a Korean eatery, which is full of
beautiful I mean wonderful foods like purple rice that had
antioxis and all this stuff.
Speaker 6 (33:08):
But when I.
Speaker 3 (33:09):
Realized Erica, in going to these kinds of fast food restaurants,
is that they're asking for a tip. They're asking for
a tip, like after you got to pay that we
laugh about sweet Green because that's a twenty dollars salad
like easily, right, you know what I mean, cheap salad right,
easily easily, And I mean it's good for you. It's
good stuff. As you know, you could see the Whole
(33:29):
Greens and all the things that they that they have.
Speaker 1 (33:32):
But a tip. Even go to Subway, they asking for
a tip. They ask for tip. I know, they ask.
Speaker 3 (33:40):
You pick up your pizza and they're asking for a tip.
Now are they not paying enough?
Speaker 1 (33:45):
No, they're not. But but is that tip worthy?
Speaker 3 (33:49):
Like I'm not a cheap skate because I promise you
when I'm a restaurantze me too. I really do appreciate serris. Yeah,
I really do appreciate the industry. But aren't you supposed
to make the sandwich? Like are you supposed to package
at your job. If you bring me my pizza all
the way, I understand. But when I go to get
(34:09):
in I got a tip. Still don't confused.
Speaker 1 (34:13):
Yeah, it's no, it's a no. It's a hard note
for me.
Speaker 3 (34:17):
I mean, and I'm not worse because five dollars you
want to get this green juice? You about to say,
play good? Forty two dollars? What and now you want
to give you an seven dollars man?
Speaker 1 (34:39):
Yeah?
Speaker 3 (34:40):
No, So that's my question today. I have to pose
this for a get upot. We were talking about it
here at work yesterday. I was like, I'm not really
a cheap scake, and I hate to say that. You know,
no to the tip, but no, and some people are
guilted to do it right. It's like, oh, yeah, maybe
I should. So we want to hear from that.
Speaker 1 (34:57):
Used to be me, because I'm like, they reckon my voice.
Speaker 6 (35:00):
And then you're gonna say he ain't even he ain't
need when he came to get his people radio.
Speaker 3 (35:06):
So when I went I heard when I went to
hair school, a friend of mine works at work at
Marie Calendar's, and she told me that they make them
pay taxes on their tips, and so sometimes because they're
already not making money, they're trying to, you know, get
some more money for the employees. But I'd rather pay
the employee directly than give it to the company. That
you got to wait till it comes. But we want
to know, maybe you work in this industry, do y'all
(35:27):
get that money? Eight seven seven two for two two
four two six? Do you give the additional tip? We
want to know from the Get Up Church eight seven
seven two for.
Speaker 1 (35:35):
Two two for two six gicks a call. If you're
listening to Get Up Erica, you heard from us because
I got through and.
Speaker 3 (35:48):
All right, y'all, we're trying to understand something here to
Get Up Church. Tipping at fast full restaurants?
Speaker 1 (35:54):
Do you do it? I feel like a.
Speaker 3 (35:57):
Little bit of a scam. Maybe I don't understand. So
we want to know from the Get Up Church. Do
you tip at fast food restaurants? Let's ask Yolanda in Houston. Hey, Yolanda,
do you tip at the fast food places?
Speaker 11 (36:08):
Uh?
Speaker 1 (36:08):
No, that's a hard No tips are earned. If I
call my order in and all I gotta and I
got to get out the car to go get it. No, ma'am, no,
I'm not a tip if you didn't earn a tip.
Speaker 3 (36:20):
And then I'm finding out a lot of times these
restaurant owners are not giving me in.
Speaker 1 (36:25):
The tip feeding. I'm going to share the tips of
person did the work. It's not getting the tip up themselves.
They're having to share it with everybody else. So uh
no and yeah and no, thank you for calling you Landa.
I appreciate you.
Speaker 6 (36:41):
Yeah, okay, thank you bye bye eight seven seven two
four two two four two six. It's time for to
get up all. Let's talk to the Homie Dale and
Charlotte Dale. Are you tipping at places that normally don't
take tips?
Speaker 13 (36:56):
See where the default is do the work, do the
work what you know you try to be generous.
Speaker 1 (37:02):
If the service is good, I will leave a tip.
If the service is mediocre.
Speaker 13 (37:08):
Even if you're doing to just go grab a couple
of dunkin Donuts on it's time, I'll do a little
tip if the if the attitude is it not right
or I deserve this or you the die of that.
Speaker 1 (37:17):
No, you're not getting tip with me.
Speaker 13 (37:18):
And the reason why I'm trying to tip even though.
Speaker 1 (37:21):
You're not doing anything above and beyond what you're supposed
to do what your paid to do. Already, we're trying
to be generous. We're trying to reflect Christ.
Speaker 13 (37:28):
We're trying to Hey, if we've got the means and
we've been so blessed, let's try and pass on the
blessing because it is tough times out here, economously pro
God of folks, they struggling.
Speaker 1 (37:38):
I hate it is that. So we're just trying to
be like Jesus. Y'all were trying to drink that Jesus.
Speaker 13 (37:43):
Juice fits and pass.
Speaker 1 (37:44):
Come on, that's passed. All that. Come on, Thank you
for coling Dale. We always appreciate you. I love you
guys so much. You doing what you do.
Speaker 3 (37:51):
Mark in Atlanta's on the line, Hey, Mark, tell us
do you tip at fast food restaurants?
Speaker 6 (37:55):
Oh?
Speaker 9 (37:55):
Always in your house to let me find out my
favorite water show?
Speaker 1 (37:58):
Tight with the money, now, are we not?
Speaker 3 (38:03):
We?
Speaker 1 (38:05):
We too well? I'm just come on, burger king.
Speaker 6 (38:07):
Really.
Speaker 9 (38:09):
I think I think if you look at it, if
you can sit down and have service, I think we
turn it into how it works, the service, but somebody's
serving you.
Speaker 1 (38:16):
Man, that's amazing.
Speaker 11 (38:17):
Man.
Speaker 1 (38:17):
It's just I look at it like that. If I
can afford to go out and sit down, Unlett, somebody
make me a plate, you know, hey, let me just
take you.
Speaker 3 (38:24):
I don't care what it was like.
Speaker 1 (38:25):
Thank you. I appreciate that. I think we should look
at being service all super service. Oh conviction, Thank you,
Thank you for Carlin. We appreciate you, sir, Thank you
for that perspective.
Speaker 2 (38:35):
Let that money go, y'all.
Speaker 1 (38:36):
Let that money go, all right, have a good one, sir.
Randa and the at L is on the line. Hey, Rhonda,
so are you tipping at fast food places?
Speaker 5 (38:47):
I'm not a bad food if I carry out yet,
but I used to work in the industry.
Speaker 3 (38:54):
To tip.
Speaker 5 (38:55):
So this is what you do to make sure the
company doesn't get the tip. If you was a credit
card whether tip, you put one dollar and then you
give the actual server the cash. That's the only time
I make sure I hear it cash is when I
know I'm going someplace that may require a tip, because
then they taxed that dollar, which is nothing, but that
(39:16):
person actually gets the cash money to go in their pockets.
They most servers only make two dollars and one says
we're up to four dollars. So when you tip, you
really are supporting their household. So if you get that,
then the corporation cannot get that tip from them. And
I tell people that so that you're actually blessing the
(39:36):
server and not the company.
Speaker 1 (39:39):
Okay, that that fast food or is that just restaurant.
Speaker 5 (39:48):
It doesn't matter which industry, if it's bad food, if
I'm sitting down, because no matter what whatever you put
on that credit card receipt, they're gonna attack that to nothing.
So the server walks away with tensions. So I don't
care if I'm sitting down. If you put a dollar
on there, they cannot touch anything else that's in cash.
(40:08):
So when you go to restaurants or when you go
to sit down, always carry cash, and that way the
server is getting the tip and not the company.
Speaker 1 (40:17):
That's good. Thanks Ronda, thank you so much for calling.
We appreciate you today.
Speaker 5 (40:21):
All Right, y'all be blessed and keep doing what y'all doing.
Speaker 3 (40:24):
Y'all.
Speaker 1 (40:26):
Oh, I love that. Thank you by Ronda.
Speaker 3 (40:31):
I love to get up church. Thank you a perspective.
I appreciate that. Yeah, and I did, like I told
you my friend before, she said they had to pay
taxes on the tip. So we want the money to
get to the actual people. They needed the money. Yeah,
because that's where the blessing lies. Y'all stick around.
Speaker 1 (40:45):
We got more on the way.
Speaker 3 (40:46):
It's get it morning, Good morning, good people, is get
up mornings. I'm married for camp eleven Jesus and loving you. Yes,
this is the day the Lord has made what joys
and we will be glad. And it's on this What's today?

Speaker 1 (41:25):
Let's talk about love for God. So love the world,
Love talk morning. Your blood could save a life.
Speaker 3 (41:34):
So pledge at get up Erica dot com for a
chance to win two hundred and fifty dollars at an
exclusive virtual meet and greet with your girl.
Speaker 1 (41:40):
Erica Campbell.
Speaker 3 (41:41):
Yes, it is time for the love talk of the day,
and y'all, I had a young couple that were friends
of mine ten years ago. They're no longer together. And
after this love talk, you can't understand why. They were
young and they were married and they loved each other.
But the wife was more prominent, She was more she
(42:03):
was more business savvy, she was better with numbers.
Speaker 1 (42:07):
He was a good guy, but he was a street guy.
Speaker 3 (42:10):
Definitely loved her, you know, would get several jobs, but
just you know, didn't really understand business and how to
you know, take care of a family. And so we
were at church and they were asking for We were
in a fundraiser, you know, trying to get a new building,
typical church stuff, you know, and everybody was talking about
what they were gonna pledge. This one said we're gonna
pledge this, and different one said numbers. And then he
(42:31):
said what they were going to pledge. And when he
said that in front of everybody, she said, boy, we
ain't doing that. It was so embarrassing that we were
embarrassed for him. Now, she didn't care. And because she
had a big personality, that's kind of how she lived
her life. She would always kind of you know, street talk.
(42:51):
That was she was sonning like, you know, she would
treat him like, oh, son, like you know. I don't
know if y'all understand what son in him means, but
it means somebody minimizing what you said in a room
full of people in an effort to keep you in
your place. When you do that in a marriage, women,
you crush the spirit of your man and you humiliate
(43:11):
him publicly. You let the world know you don't think
that he's in charge and that he can take care
of you. But it is the same way if a
husband does it to his wife, and it's just jokes
and fun, but you minimize or make fun of the
things that she deems important, like being a good wife,
or whether she can't clean, or whether she don't fuld close.
And while it's funny a little bit, those little things
(43:34):
called tears cause tears and fractures in your relationship, in
the band that should be holding you together and the
love band that should be holding you together. It caused
little fractures because while we laugh at public humiliation, and
while you know it may be funny, sometimes that hurts
the heart. Of course, later in life that you know
couple end up divorcing and most of their relationship was
(43:57):
that way. He was fun and funny, but not very professional,
and so she would say things about it. And what
was funny when they got together became annoying as they
stayed together and did not hold the relationship together. And
even though you know, friends and people around her would go, hey, girl.
Speaker 1 (44:15):
The girl, I'll say that. Girl, ya you do that
behind closed door. Don't do your man like that.
Speaker 3 (44:20):
Oh he know me, girl, He ain't tripping. But he
was tripping, and he was hurt, and he was offended
and he was embarrassed. And she just thought the words
were just, you know, empty words. Your words are never
empty words. With your spouse, it all matters. I've had
my feelings hurt by stuff they shouldn't have had my
feelings hurt, and when they were hurt, I didn't tell
him they were hurt. I told my husband, I know
you didn't think it hurt my feelings. I know you
(44:41):
didn't intend to hurt my feelings, but you did. And
so just because you did, I want you to address
that and not tell me you didn't mean to. Intention
doesn't change the pain. Intenson doesn't change the offense. And
so you have to be careful with your words, with
the ones that you love. Listen, y'all, it doesn't just
happen in marriages. It happens with parents, It happens families,
and so be mindful of how your words may land
(45:03):
on someone's heart, especially if they're trying it and it
don't work.
Speaker 1 (45:07):
I remember one time, my.
Speaker 3 (45:10):
You know, we had a small fire in our kitchen
and it caused this black smoke to go up on
the cabinet. And my father was not a handyman at all,
and he called itself painting the wood.
Speaker 1 (45:21):
But he didn't get the smut off. He didn't put a.
Speaker 3 (45:24):
Base, he just painted, and so when we came in,
it looked crazy, and me and all my sisters laughed
loudly for a long time, and now that I think
about it, my father got really really quiet. I know
now that he was embarrassed. I know now that he
was trying to do something good and we made fun
of it. Y'all, that ain't good at marriage. So let's
try our best to watch our words and be mindful
(45:45):
until even if there is stuff that is funny and
that's going to happen, don't minimize them, don't insult and
humiliate them publicly, and then just leave them with the
emotions and then get upset when they're upset or offended
or hurt.
Speaker 1 (45:58):
Right your words to use them wisely. That is the
love talk of the day, y'all.
Speaker 3 (46:03):
I love you and I mean it, And now y'all
just take that. I promise I mean it in love
and I promise it's gonna help. Just supply that little.
Speaker 1 (46:09):
Knowledge and thank me later.
Speaker 3 (46:11):
That's a love talk, y'all. Stick around. Trending topics are
up next time, Good up on you. If you're listening
to get up with Erica Camp.
Speaker 1 (46:20):
Good morning Erica. Find out what everybody's talking about right now?
Take it over the web.
Speaker 4 (46:26):
What is it?
Speaker 1 (46:27):
It's trending topics up to the minute.
Speaker 6 (46:29):
Tune in the More Than That wherever you listen to podcasts.
This episode of More Than That is sponsored by Buick
and Invist. The feature in the head turning sculptural design
and effortless Technology Buick Exceptional by Design.
Speaker 1 (46:42):
All right, Cheryl, tell us what's trending.
Speaker 3 (46:44):
Listen if you're talking about traveling and all of us
are Eric traffic controllers. They have a staffing shortage, y'all,
which is why a lot of these flights are getting delayed.
It worsened over the weekend as the nation's government shut
down hits it's fourth week, leading to delays, anxiety, and
experts say it won't get better until air traffic controllers
(47:06):
get paid. More than fifty staffing shortages have been reported
since last Friday's Friday morning, causing delays from Los Angeles
to d C. According to an operations update, controllers controllers
are considered essential workers, so they must work during the shutdown,
but are not being paid. So a lot of them
(47:26):
are taking sick leave, a lot of them not showing up,
a lot of them are like.
Speaker 6 (47:31):
The most important job at the airport, hands down, air
traffic controller, and you're not paying them.
Speaker 3 (47:38):
Wow, And new sources talking about all our cities Atlanta, DC, LA, right,
getting hit hard, and so not only them, but also TSA,
I mean, same situation.
Speaker 1 (47:51):
So you're finding a lot.
Speaker 3 (47:52):
So if you're flying like we are, taking PACU patients
paccupations is all this story is about, all right, y'all.
Kelsey Grammar is seventy years old and just had another baby.
Speaker 6 (48:06):
Kelsey, I just did a joke about people having babies
over fifty.
Speaker 1 (48:11):
Why the baby's drooling? You drooling?
Speaker 4 (48:14):
Right?
Speaker 1 (48:14):
Baby? You can barely walk.
Speaker 3 (48:17):
Baby number eight, Baby number eight. He and his wife
Kate Walsh, just had a baby. She's forty six, he's seventy.
The baby's name is Christopher. Hey, Christopher.
Speaker 1 (48:28):
The baby's name is Christopher. Welcome to the world. Welcome
to the world.
Speaker 3 (48:33):
He also has a twelve year old by her faith Gabrielle,
a ten year old James, an eight year old, so
this is baby number four for them. But he also
has a forty one year old Spencer Greer who's thirty three,
Mason who's twenty three, and Jude who is twenty So
he's got eighty like kids. Yeahry and they ranged from
(48:54):
age forty forty one to newborn. Come on, Kelsey, but
he'll always have a babysitter.
Speaker 1 (49:03):
Them kids.
Speaker 3 (49:03):
Ain't babysitting them new kids by the new mama Kelsey
doing that, well, you wrong.
Speaker 1 (49:09):
Take brother Kelsey, young wife, listen by the young tender Lord.
Speaker 3 (49:25):

Yesterday Toronto beat the Dodgers six to two. They tied
the series in two to two. I see you the
White Stone, I see you three games left. Game five
is tonight at eight pm. LSU football coach Brian Kelly
(51:26):
was fired over the weekend, but he has a buyout
of over fifty million dollars. What's that mean, Griff? They
had the pain, they had you firing, but then you
got to give him so much money. Was he fired
or was he blessed? That's the question. In the NCAA
football yesterday the Kennesaw State Owls where my daughter Jamison
(51:47):
the Tens beat up on UTUB thirty.
Speaker 1 (51:50):
Three to twenty. The owls are six and two.

pray that you heard something that encouraged your soul this morning. Hey,
Sherlan Griff, would you love about the show today?

And it was good?
Speaker 3 (53:15):
Mister Griffin, He's still on this cruise, grateful for the cruise,
shouting out everybody and of course talking about people on
his joys and concerns. Double whammy there in the second hour.
Training the next generation, I think is so important. Erica,
and I love the conversations that you're having with your
nieces and your daughter, and even watching Warren doing some
conversation with the nephews and with Wosey. So yeah, really
(53:39):
good stuff. We got to pour into the next generation.
Speaker 1 (53:41):
And this tipping thing. Okay, I'm a little convicted. I'll
do a little something. I guess a little some little.
Speaker 3 (53:47):
Something, but you know, knowing that you could give them
cash and then you know, the corporation not get to
tax it and take it from them.
Speaker 1 (53:54):
I'm glad that lady gave us that information.
Speaker 6 (53:56):
Grip, glad it's better me. I'm with to get up pose. Well,
I'm an over tipper. I mean when I'm sitting down
at a restaurant or something, but I'm just really confused
places like the airport and me picking up carry out
and having a tip. Now, so nobody listens and we
(54:17):
get dms to say, I'm a waitress of twenty six
years and it's people like yuh. We didn't say that.
We were just asking do you have to tip and
play at a carry out?
Speaker 3 (54:28):
All there was no subways popped up out of nowhere
like subweight my sandwich and and like for me when
I was younger, all I had was the money for
my food.
Speaker 1 (54:38):
I literally didn't have any extra.
Speaker 3 (54:40):
So Okay, you know, when you're in a position to help,
you can, but you know you want to understand that whos.
Speaker 1 (54:45):
Getting this little extra thirty episode. We just wantity know.
We just want clarity. So thank y'all for letting us
know that.
Speaker 3 (54:52):
Listen, y'all, I just want to encourage somebody with John
fourteen one, Let not your heart be troubled.
Speaker 1 (54:56):
You believe in God.
Speaker 3 (54:58):
Believe also and me, I remember that cripture encouraged me
at a really, really low point in my life. So
I'm offering that to you. Let not your heart be troubled.
It does not make the problem go away. It lets
you know that someone is aware that you're going through.
And so I pray that you feel strengthened and encourage
as you face whatever it is you have to face
and trust that God has not forgotten about you.
Speaker 1 (55:17):
Okay, I love you and I mean it. Let's end
with prayer.
Speaker 3 (55:20):
Father, we thank you for this day, for this time,
for this moment, for this show, for this opportunity to
play great gospel music and have conversations, conversations that lift and.
Speaker 1 (55:28):
Bring the light of God. You are the light.
Speaker 3 (55:31):
You are our hope, you are our help, and so
we thank you God for being everything we need just
when we need it. We will speak life and speak
your word in Jesus Mighty name.
Speaker 1 (55:40):
Satan.
Speaker 3 (55:41):
You have no place, power or authority, so we command
you to go in the name of Jesus, Satan the
Lord rebuke you in Jesus' name.
