Whoa, I feel like it needs a round of applause.
Speaker 2 (00:26):
I am doing six shows from the twenty fifth of
February until the second of March.
Speaker 3 (00:33):
Holy Molly, this is going to be a wild ride.
It is called Culi Electric in my box.
Speaker 2 (00:39):
Look, we're not getting into my actual box, but we
will be unpacking my dms in.
Speaker 3 (00:45):
A hilarious live show and I'm going to be dragging
my producer Shad along with me for the ride.

Speaker 2 (01:05):
Aren't going to be okay, I'm going to need like
eighty tequila shots before I do it.
Speaker 3 (01:09):
But anyway, see you there girlfriend Fire with Garlie Electric.
Speaker 2 (01:14):
This is not a how to guide for people wanting
to get into the industry.
Speaker 3 (01:19):
I don't want people to think that they're going to
necessarily learn something here.
Speaker 2 (01:25):
It's more just a fun and interesting take on the industry, but.
Speaker 3 (01:31):
Also just coming from my point of view.
Speaker 2 (01:34):
I'm sitting down with my producer getting down to the
nitty gritty of the sex worker industry. Clients come in
all shapes and sizes, but often they are more hidden
than the escorts that they are seeing. We're going to
lift the lid on who is actually booking the service
of sex workers.
Speaker 3 (01:52):
Welcome back to Girlfriend for Hire.
Speaker 2 (01:54):
I have had a little break and it's been quite
fun because I got to do my very first live stand.
Speaker 3 (02:03):
Up comedy shows called in My in Brisbane.
Speaker 2 (02:06):
At the Good Chat Comedy Club and holy shit, shad
you were there for it?
Speaker 4 (02:10):
Two shows Friday and Saturday night. How do you feel?
Speaker 3 (02:13):
Well? Look, come on, let's let's dish some honest feedback.
Speaker 5 (02:18):
Well you did it? Look for someone's first time. I
think back to back, like second show.
Speaker 4 (02:24):
I think second show was the best.
Speaker 3 (02:26):
Yeah, second show was.
Speaker 2 (02:29):
I was Actually the first show was a completely out
of body experience. It's lego wasn't even there. It was
so wild, it was so hard to.
Speaker 3 (02:38):
Kind of explain.
Speaker 2 (02:39):
I think being so nervous and having this out of
body experience, I kind of wasn't in control of anything.
Speaker 3 (02:47):
The second show though.
Speaker 2 (02:48):
Holy shit, just hearing people laugh, genuinely laugh, and I
felt like I was in control and I was funny.
Oh god, you were funny too, I.
Speaker 3 (02:59):
Guess, Oh, thanks, Yeah, No, it was great.
Speaker 2 (03:02):
I think you have the idea of a show in
your head, but then able being able to like perform
it for people and have people laugh and just understand
that it's a real show, like it comes together and
it works.
Speaker 3 (03:14):
And yeah. So off to Adelaide next for Fringe Fest.
Speaker 5 (03:18):
Yeah, so what is what's the process for you here
now that you've you've done two versions.
Speaker 4 (03:22):
Of the show.
Speaker 1 (03:24):
Your Adelaide ones kick off on the twenty.
Speaker 2 (03:26):
Fifth, Yeah, twenty fifth, it's two weeks away.
Speaker 3 (03:30):
Yeah, the third of March. For people playing at home.
Speaker 4 (03:33):
There you go. Tickets on sale, go to Carlie Electric.
Speaker 3 (03:36):
Got a Calie Electric on Insta. Yeah, thank you, thank you.
Speaker 5 (03:39):
Chad.
Speaker 3 (03:39):
Look, it's just I think refining, you know.
Speaker 2 (03:41):
See, we've got to cut it down a little bit
because I can really talk some shit, which I've come
to learn, which I didn't realize I thought that I
was going to be having to like drag out the time,
but it goes so fast. An hour just flies by.
So yeah, refining the show and yeah, just getting ready.
I'm excited. I can't wait to do it again. It's
(04:02):
a wild ride. When I'm unpacking my inbox. And if
you're already on my Instagram, you'll probably see my channel
there called in my Box, where I publish all the
weird shit that I get sent from men. I publish
it for everybody to see because it would be rude
to just gate keep all of these weird stories. And
so yeah, I'm well, we're together unpack my box.
Speaker 1 (04:26):
Yeah, pretty full, and we don't write me into that.
Speaker 2 (04:28):
But look, it's really fun and there's so much crowd participation.
Speaker 3 (04:34):
You know, we have.
Speaker 2 (04:35):
An actual like my box up on stage that you
can put things in.
Speaker 3 (04:40):
It's fun. That sounds weird anyway, we don't.
Speaker 5 (04:46):
We very cheap ticket if you get to put something
in your box for a show, very very.
Speaker 3 (04:50):
Cheap, thirty bucks.
Speaker 2 (04:52):
Look, do you know what if you can't afford to
come and see me for an hour? What a great
alternative And you can yell at me and you can
talk to me and I'll reply, it's like the only
time that it will happen.
Speaker 5 (05:03):
Man, you go that you're new to the game if
you're encouraging Hecklers like that.
Speaker 3 (05:06):
But no, no, look not into Heckler's had some for
my first show. Don't want to do that again. That
was terrifying.
Speaker 2 (05:14):
But no, there is part of the show where we
do get the whole audience involved and it's pretty funny.
Speaker 5 (05:21):
I think we're exciting stuff. Make sure you go and
check your tickets out now, Carli. This episode for some
people who have already read the title, obviously they'd be aware.
But this is the beginning of a little short series
that will pop.
Speaker 1 (05:34):
Up over the next probably a couple of months.
Speaker 2 (05:36):
Look, we made a joke about it on the last
episode where we were like, we should get a client
on and you know, talk to a client and see
what they think.
Speaker 3 (05:45):
We've actually pulled this together.
Speaker 2 (05:47):
I've had some of my clients reach out very excited
to come on and say their piece. I think that
us as escorts, we are kind of quite hidden. A
lot of escorts are facing and it's even more hidden
for the men that come and see us. I don't
it's not really something that they talk about. It's not
(06:08):
really something that they're advertising that they're paying for escorts.
It's a very hidden thing for men. And so, you
know what, there's plenty of sex worker podcasts out there,
and everybody seems to just get other sex workers on
to talk about sex work things. But I don't know
that I've ever heard on a podcast from clients.
Speaker 3 (06:28):
So we're going to do that.
Speaker 2 (06:30):
And thank you so much for everybody who has wanted
to get involved. I just think that that's fucking fantastic,
Like good for them.
Speaker 5 (06:37):
In the interest of being in a safe place for
these clients. Don't expect us to be taking a piece
out of these people.
Speaker 3 (06:43):
Yeah, they're probably going to be.
Speaker 2 (06:45):
You know, I'm not gonna be like so you can't
get it in your real life, like you know.
Speaker 3 (06:50):
It's you know, trying to learn. This is like you know,
peaking through the window, right.
Speaker 1 (06:57):
Peking through the window, if that's what you're into.
Speaker 3 (07:00):
Yes, we're just seeing what life is like on the
other side.
Speaker 4 (07:04):
Cool.
Speaker 5 (07:04):
So your first cap off the rank in this one
is a lovely gentleman named Gus.
Speaker 2 (07:10):
Yes, Gus is a bit of a long term client
for me. He's somebody that I have seen quite a
few times, quite a lot. I feel like I know
him really well. We talk constantly online and funny, great guy. Yeah,
I'm so glad that he's come on board, and I
think that he's a.
Speaker 3 (07:29):
Perfect way to start. Okay, let's just start from the top.
Let's get right in. How many times do you think
that you've seen an.
Speaker 6 (07:41):
Escort overmying plial life? Probably fifteen times?
Speaker 1 (07:47):
Is that different escorts or is that just total cookings?
Fifteen different?
Speaker 6 (07:52):
Yeah?
Speaker 3 (07:53):
Right?
Speaker 6 (07:53):
Oh not, maybe not?
Speaker 2 (07:55):
It was probably twelve different yeah right?
Speaker 5 (08:00):
And how does that stack up to just like just
regular partner variety out of curiosity?
Speaker 6 (08:06):
Probably ten times the amount. Yeah, So three normal, three
conventional ones. Three conventional relationships that don't really last. Unfortunately,
I've had a lot of mental health issues for a
lot of my life, and unfortunately that gets in the
way of long term relationships.
Speaker 2 (08:23):
Eventually, when you're looking for an escort, what is it
that makes you pick the person? Like, if you have,
over your entire life, seen twelve different women, how do
you land on those twelve? Like, how do you pick one?
Speaker 6 (08:38):
Well, let's just say I was not very good at
the start. As a matter of fact, I've even you know,
walked away because I've got it wrong. So let's just say,
in my old years, I'm much more knowledgeable about the
type of person that is in that job and what
they require, more so than what I require, because I
(09:01):
know what I require is been offered by a thousand
different So what's important to me is that that woman
is secure, safe, and in charge of what she's doing.
And so yeah, when I was younger, When I was younger,
I kind of went, no, this doesn't feel right, and
then I gave it a massive break because I really didn't.
(09:24):
It didn't wash well with me. And then when I
got a lot older, I went, hang on a minute,
maybe there I just need to find someone who is
proud of what they're doing and proud of who they are,
and that they are safe and they are in charge
and have autonomy. And that's the most important thing to me.
(09:45):
So in my younger days, not very good at doing that.
And I possibly even was part of a girl who
may not have even wanted to be there, and I
think that really put the down or on it. And
then it wasn't until much later I went on, maybe
there's someone like Charlie, for example, who is very proud
(10:08):
of what she does, and that makes me feel super
confident and super sabyah right, what.
Speaker 2 (10:13):
A crazy experience. It's honestly not something that I've heard
of much before. But at least you were aware to
kind of acknowledge that it felt a bit weird. So
did you just turn up and then you just felt
like she didn't want to be there and it was
all forced and you just left?
Speaker 6 (10:30):
I have I've actually got to outside and gone that
doesn't even look good and left, and I've also walked
out after ten minutes, going this ain't right.
Speaker 5 (10:41):
Yeah, have you like obviously it didn't feel right, so
you left after ten minutes.
Speaker 4 (10:46):
But you said you've walked away.
Speaker 5 (10:47):
And I know Carl's shared a story before about someone
booking her arriving and then leaving.
Speaker 4 (10:54):
Have you ever heard that one?
Speaker 5 (10:55):
Have you ever done a similar thing, seen it and
it was like, you know, it wasn't what was on
the box or.
Speaker 4 (11:01):
Like that kind of scenario.
Speaker 5 (11:03):
Tell me about that interaction, because for someone who is I've.
Speaker 4 (11:08):
Never booked an escort before in my life, and I had.
Speaker 1 (11:12):
Time chat yeah there is still time, just no money.
Speaker 5 (11:15):
But I'm fascinated by how you can get through so
many steps in the process of getting there to them
being like, no, it's not for me, and I'm assuming
you still paid for a certain amount of that experience
as terms.
Speaker 6 (11:32):
Of this is where I learned my lesson. Let's just
say Carlie is very professional, and not everyone is that professional.
And should I say I went with a lesson professionals
at the beginning, which means there's no deposit, there's no screening,
there's none of that sort of stuff. So when I
first actually had a sex worker, I must have been
(11:56):
all of nineteen at the time, and I think I've
just came home, pisced and rang up an escort and
had them come around, and that sort of the damn
slide to speak. But that was also a really really
bad way of going about it. And yeah, like I'm saying,
that's sort of how I used to do it as
a very young twenty year old, and that's a really
bad way of doing it. It's a really wrong way
(12:18):
of doing See.
Speaker 2 (12:18):
Something that I actually speak about often is if you're
a punter, if you can educate yourself on how to
find the right person for you, then all parties are happy.
And it actually does take a little bit of work
to get to the point to find somebody who is
right for you, rather than just throwing some money around
hoping for the best. To have the best kind of experience,
(12:41):
You've kind of got to do your homework and find
the right provider.
Speaker 5 (12:45):
There's many different reasons people would book a sex worker,
but I mean, if we put them in two different camps,
it would be purely for sex and then the other
would be companionship. Where do you think you would fit
in those categories or do you go.
Speaker 6 (12:57):
Across both purely for the sex?
Speaker 4 (13:00):
Right?
Speaker 5 (13:01):
Okay, well, then now my next question is Carlie lack
Worth the heart.
Speaker 6 (13:09):
And then some.
Speaker 3 (13:13):
We go it's not a paid promotions. It feels like,
thank you. I appreciate that response.
Speaker 5 (13:23):
That was true.
Speaker 6 (13:25):
It's true. I mean I don't see myself changing anytime soon.
You know. It's a bit like one of those things
once you land it because if you're just guess if
you're the first time is always super exciting, but you'd
never know. And carl and I had a book in
a while ago that I kind of went, maybe this
(13:47):
is not exactly what I thought because we did something
a bit different and I kind of went, yeah, like
in the end, I would have rather spent more time
with Carli.
Speaker 5 (14:00):
Okay, I need to ask what the something was that
you did a bit different?
Speaker 6 (14:06):
Can I? Can I say? Yes, yes, no, we did
a threesome.
Speaker 5 (14:11):
Oh okay, hell long right, bucket less ticking and you
were like, no, you're kind of like too many cooks
in the kitchen.
Speaker 6 (14:21):
No, I'm not that, it's just the attention spind. I
think it's the attention Spain and I would have spent
I would have liked to have spent more attention on Carli.
Speaker 3 (14:28):
I guess okay, but I really didn't know where he
was going with that.
Speaker 1 (14:33):
I was like, God, it.
Speaker 4 (14:34):
Could be I mean, I'm fascinated, mate.
Speaker 5 (14:37):
I've got to say, there's a lot of blokes who
would be astonished at the idea of a man being
disappointed at having.
Speaker 6 (14:44):
It's not a disappointment, it's a it's a learning experience.
So yeah, I'm all about living life and having experiences.
And you know, and I thought, I went, maybe just
be better me and Carly.
Speaker 5 (14:57):
So yeah, have you ever encountered Carly in okay, outside
out of a booking, like in public and if okay,
and if you did what What do you feel like
your reaction would be, Like, what would your instinct be
if you spotted college is out on the street.
Speaker 6 (15:18):
I'd probably way and see what her reaction was.
Speaker 3 (15:21):
I would Yeah, I feel yeah, I keep walking.
Speaker 2 (15:25):
It's so it's so dependent on the person and the
situation and the place and you know what's going on
and where you are. But generally, I you know, if
I was to see Gus walking along, I'd be like.
Speaker 5 (15:37):
Hey, yeah, and I'm assuming this is because Gus, you
don't have a partner.
Speaker 6 (15:41):
That's right. I don't have a partner or kids, so
I'm morally completely free of the whole thing. So yeah,
I do tell people that I have a paid companion
to the people I know who will understand it, and
that it's purely transactional, and that yes we speak outside
of those bookings, but only as I speak to anyone
(16:06):
on social media, like as a social media in the team.
Speaker 2 (16:10):
So what's the response to somebody when you tell them
that you see a paid companion?
Speaker 6 (16:15):
Do you know what? Everyone is really unless they're totally
religiously crazy or totally conservative, they're all totally cool with it,
like totally cool with it, Like as in cool man,
good one. You because you're not married or a wife
or any think to do it and I'm not, And
(16:36):
they going, fine, you know, it's not like because I'm
not cheating. Yeah, I think I am the ideal male.
And because, like I said, I've had a lot of
mental health issues, which makes long term relationships very difficult,
and so I've sort of just resigned myself to the
fact that I'm a human being. I need to have
some sort of release once in a while, and I
(16:57):
don't need the commitment of a relationship or a family,
and I'm happy with that. So I'm sitting pretty dude,
I really am. Yeah, and no one judges me for
what I do, but I do need to keep it
quiet because of the stigma attached in the broader community.
Speaker 5 (17:14):
I was going to say that because it's like that.
Obviously we've spoke about this before. The stigma around sex
work and booking sex workers, especially being a sex worker,
is far less than it was back in the day.
And you've said, you're in your fifties, what do you
think that the people you know would be as cool
with what you're how you're booking a sex worker.
Speaker 1 (17:37):
If you rewind the clock say twenty.
Speaker 6 (17:39):
Years oh no, oh no. But also sex workers like
Carlie didn't exist twenty years ago. You know, they see
Carlie is, she's a brand, she's a Yeah, she is
who she says she is. There's no there's no chicanery
or mystery or secrecy or you know what I mean.
(18:00):
She's in charge of what happens. And that's that makes
for me, that makes it really important that I'm not
paying some pimples, some organization or some other thing. And
so that was the problem twenty years ago, is that
there was a lot more criminality involved. And also I
didn't have the brains or the nouse to really know
(18:21):
who was being explored and who wasn't being exploited. So yeah,
twenty years ago, I wouldn't have said shit because the
chances are it was connected to something other than sex work. Yeah,
if I was open about sex work, then I was
probably also stealing cars or ground weed or whatever, you
know what I mean. It was sort of a criminal activity,
whereas now it's much more And I think that's because
(18:44):
sex workers are now seeing disabled clients and incapacitated clients
and that's quite accepted. And once again I've worked with
quite a lot of men who have psychosocial issues and
their embarrassment and their relaxed to see a sex worker
(19:06):
and how to talk that to them with a case
manager and all of that sort of stuff. Now that
that sort of become a bit more prevalent and a
bit more spoken, then it's it's okay, Like there's no
one who can judge me for being a single bloke
and seeing a sex worker, particularly someone like Carli who
is upfront and open.
Speaker 5 (19:24):
So I guess to wrap things up, Gus, what advice
would you give someone who's maybe listening to this podcast
and has been thinking about the idea, whether it's Carli
or otherwise, about how booking You're like, what to do
for booking your first experience with a sex worker.
Speaker 6 (19:41):
Well, first of all, be super respectful to the worker
and to yourself. Be professional, do your homework. If you
find a profile that you like, I would say, then
send a polite email to that person and get the
ball roll and don't ever book a sex workers though
(20:03):
you going to see them the next day or are
you going to do anything like that, or you're going
to start up some long term relationship, No start off
as though it's like any other sort of meeting and
you just lay the foundations and maybe send an email
to several profiles and see what happens. But for me,
(20:25):
it was Carly because she seemed the most I don't know,
like the one that she believed in herself. I think
is what it was that stood her out from amongst
everyone else is that I didn't get a scrape of reluctance.
I suppose I now know her better and I know
(20:45):
where those things are where she's more proud than more
confident than not. But yeah, it's her confidence that sold
me one hundred percent. And that's what I say to
any guy out there, is make sure she is willing
and happy and enjoys what she does.
Speaker 2 (21:05):
An absolute star. Thank you so much for being a
part of this. I just had this idea and I
can't believe it's actually come to fruition. And it's so
interesting just hearing you know your side of things, because
obviously I know from my side, but yeah, it's actually
really eye opening to hear your experiences and you know
(21:26):
your views on it all.
Speaker 3 (21:27):
Thank you so much. I really appreciate it. Cheers mate.
Speaker 4 (21:32):
What are your thoughts after that?
Speaker 2 (21:36):
I mean, yeah, I guess it's pretty eye opening for
me because these aren't necessarily the kind of conversations that
I'm having during a booking because it's not very sexy
to be you know, why why are you booking a
sex worker? Often they'll open up about that kind of thing,
but you know, to hear it like this is it's
an education for me for sure.
Speaker 5 (21:55):
Yeah, it's kindest because I know we muck around a
lot on this pod and take the piece of it.
Speaker 4 (21:58):
But he was so genuine.
Speaker 1 (22:00):
Yeah, it's fascinating even when he.
Speaker 4 (22:02):
Was doing like the reference of how it was years
ago to now.
Speaker 5 (22:06):
Okay, I know, it's just like a real genuine side
to people just wanting a bit of connection. It's interesting
having the self awareness of himself to be like, I'm
kind of don't think I'm out a point where I
can be with someone long term, and then you and
other sex workers provide that companionship totally. And thank god,
because I tell you, what if he didn't get one off,
what would he be like, Oh.
Speaker 3 (22:29):
He's a great guy.
Speaker 1 (22:29):
He's a great guy.
Speaker 2 (22:31):
I feel so lucky that we have the opportunity to
speak to quite a few of my clients. So there's
a bit of a range. We've got some old clients,
some new clients, some young clients. I've got a client
in a wheelchair who is going to speak to us. Yeah,
so a bit of an array. I'm yet to get
one of my couples on.
Speaker 3 (22:52):
I really want to speak.
Speaker 2 (22:53):
To a woman, but anyway I'll get I'll get that happening.
But yeah, we're going to share all of these stories
from the other side of the fans or the other
side of the condom.
Speaker 5 (23:04):
Oh okay, from inside, from inside, Yeah, keep an eye
for these. I'll pop up over the next couple of episodes.
Carlie chatting with.
Speaker 4 (23:14):
Some of her clients.
Speaker 1 (23:15):
If you've got questions, man, send them to Carli.
Speaker 2 (23:17):
Yeah, you're a client and you want to be involved,
definitely reach out if you.
Speaker 3 (23:22):
Think that you want to, you know, have your say.
I'm where all he is.
Speaker 2 (23:28):
On next week's episode of Girlfriend for Hire, we're going
to be talking secrets of escorts. Oh, it sounds very
ominous and very scary, but most escorts are leading a
double life, and so we're going to unpack a little
bit of those double lives. We'll see you then
