tell me that your name Evin, you gon't commit.

Speaker 5 (01:17):
Tell me that you're sorry. It didn't think a ton round.

Speaker 6 (01:24):
Less.

Speaker 5 (01:32):
I said, it's an a job.

Speaker 7 (01:36):
It's just like we did something in one of your dreams,
you know, too late for us to make it, make
it right.

Speaker 8 (01:49):
See y'all's wives ever do that? Did they ever wake
up and say like you have dreamed cheated?

Speaker 6 (01:54):
Oh?

Speaker 9 (01:55):
I told you?

Speaker 3 (01:55):
You said that on the air. Even Steve Sands bad
at me for an entire weekend.

Speaker 7 (01:59):
Once Steve's dreams, he gets married, then has to apologize.

Speaker 8 (02:05):
To see all that those are the worst dreams. All
you have to do, though, is just just say I'm sorry.
So yeah, I get you guys all dream cheetah, you
had a different co host in here and.

Speaker 3 (02:19):
Look at Stacy's ship. If you go back far enough,
that's not a dream.

Speaker 8 (02:24):
Till know. I was saying this to Bernie when I
came in. I was telling him what the song was.
For the longest time, I thought he was saying, it's
too late to get a job.

Speaker 9 (02:33):
It's Tony clothes, too.

Speaker 8 (02:34):
Late to get a job. Yeah, so yeah, not even close.

Speaker 9 (02:40):
It's like Pete Rose from it was in nineteen eighty
four pet.

Speaker 7 (02:44):
Rose maybe four Pete Rose, is what you said, Jim,
I think Bernie has some news to break to you.

Speaker 3 (02:49):
Actually, he's just in from the Bernie News.

Speaker 7 (02:54):
Or maybe maybe he does know this, and I don't
know that he knows this, but you told us something
that actually involves the Wane today as we arrived at
the studio.

Speaker 9 (03:02):
Oh, we're going to do a fantasy league for the
morning show, and Wayne Troutman is going to be involved.
Mark Harrison and Boomer will also be in the league.

Speaker 3 (03:08):
Mark, this is Bertie taking credit for another person. We
have idea, it was because it actually my idea.

Speaker 9 (03:14):
It was Jim's idea. And then Jim flowed the idea
of an actual draft board too.

Speaker 3 (03:18):
So both was like going, you may not know this hip.

Speaker 9 (03:20):
Actually it was.

Speaker 3 (03:21):
It was my idea.

Speaker 9 (03:22):
I texted Jim last night. Well, Jim actually said, you know,
be fun is get the Wayne. Actually we tried to get.

Speaker 3 (03:27):
Up to eight people and he was trying to think
like who we could get, like, you know, certainly get
Vince Cochley and Nick Craig. So what we got like
like Wayne to these kind of part of the morning
show and hosts us every year they were gonna have
the drafted Wayne's lobby or not lobby. He's a balcony, guys,
I'm just gonna go ahead, lobby lobby.

Speaker 8 (03:47):
We're gonna put the whiteboard in the lobby.

Speaker 3 (03:49):
I don't think they have a lobby either. It's outside.
It's a parking deck.

Speaker 8 (03:54):
There's like a little elevator vestibule there.

Speaker 3 (03:56):
Oh, by the way, creepiest elevator right, I think you
and I passed and decided to walk the stairs.

Speaker 8 (04:02):
We did gem and I literally stood at the elevator
and thought, nah, for.

Speaker 3 (04:06):
A minute, we heard like some like chains and stuff
movie like no, I'm gonna just walk this one.

Speaker 8 (04:11):
And we carried heavy suitcases of like seven flights of.

Speaker 3 (04:15):
Serious made poor trips. I'm sorry.

Speaker 7 (04:18):
From now on, it's gonna be we're live from from
Wayne Tropman's lobby.

Speaker 3 (04:22):
Why it just sounds better. It don't even have a lobby.
Just so that you guys know Bobby Balcony, they have
similar letters.

Speaker 8 (04:31):
They both have Old wayneyac is one of the most
competitive people on the planet. So he's gonna take this
incredibly seriously.

Speaker 3 (04:43):
He's very he should he's very make our commissioner.

Speaker 7 (04:46):
Oh, in fact, I asked Bernie, who's the commissioner.

Speaker 9 (04:48):
I'm totally okay defaulting to Wayne. We can we can
make Wayne commissioner.

Speaker 3 (04:53):
It's either it's Wayne or you know, maybe so in
for management or.

Speaker 6 (04:57):
Vince Co.

Speaker 3 (04:59):
Need you come in on Satay?

Speaker 7 (05:01):
Has your dad played in fantasy football leagues before?

Speaker 1 (05:04):
Oh?

Speaker 8 (05:04):
Yeah, I think he and my brothers were all in
one together with my nephews there for a while. But
I mean, my dad was the quintessential football guy when
I was growing up. It could this actually could be
why I don't watch more football, because he would he
when he gets nervous. He read this book in the
sixties about some guy that like cracks safes and before.

Speaker 9 (05:28):
Where's head?

Speaker 8 (05:29):
I hope he's listening right now, we'll talk about football,
right So in the yes, we'll get right back around
to football. When in the book, the guy before he
would crack into these safes would blow on his fingers.
I know, I'm doing the motion of cracking a safe.
He would blow on his fingers. And I guess my
dad really loved that idea. So my dad, when he
gets stressed out, he blows his fingers. So he would

(05:50):
sit on Sundays when the Cowboys were playing. It was
a huge Cowboys fan. He to blow on his fingers
and watch the football.

Speaker 3 (05:57):
You might want to tell him about the blowing on
the fingers is not working.

Speaker 9 (06:00):
It's not worked for thirty years or something.

Speaker 8 (06:01):
It didn't help. It didn't help. So yeah, he's going
to be incredibly competitive and he will be blowing his
fingers whilst watching the football.

Speaker 7 (06:09):
Okay, Well, I get to go home today and tell
my wife I'm in three fantasy footballers.

Speaker 8 (06:12):
Oh my gosh, are you serious?

Speaker 3 (06:14):
I keep trying to scale back and they keep pulling
me back in.

Speaker 7 (06:17):
I mean, you can't pass up the opportunity to be
in a league that's I had been ruled by Wayne Trout.

Speaker 3 (06:23):
I had another idea. I thought we could actually do
it during the show, Like we could just like be
in our little laptops and make our picks like I staid,
of talking to the breaks like we normally do. We
can make our little picks. I know we could actually
update our rosters as we go.

Speaker 8 (06:35):
I know that you guys are going to be incredibly
surprised by this. I've never done fantasy football, so I'm
very excited about because I have no idea what I'm
even doing.

Speaker 3 (06:42):
You could pick Perman like you always do.

Speaker 7 (06:44):
I'm just gonna make the prediction right now. We're gonna
be sitting here in January and she's gonna win the
whole thing.

Speaker 8 (06:50):
Oh is there money involved?

Speaker 6 (06:51):
Is there?

Speaker 5 (06:52):
Try?

Speaker 6 (06:53):
I don't know.

Speaker 3 (06:53):
We'll have to ask the commissioner.

Speaker 7 (06:56):
Six thirteen on WBT, Hey, when we come back, we
have the return of something today that we have not
done in a good long while. But it's always fun.
It's one of our favorite things that we do, and
there's something in it for you. As you're listening to
News Talk eleven to ten WBT, it's actually coming up
this weekend, so I'll tell you what that is on
the way and much more on a busy Tuesday. We're

(07:17):
off and running. Boomer von Cannon, this is.

Speaker 3 (07:19):
Gonna be a heck of a fantasy league with a waitiac.
I'm telling him he could go oh oh, I think
Boomer is going to be the guy. Remember when the
news quiz four weeks in a row and I'm not
had to break that streak. I don't know who it was.

Speaker 8 (07:33):
I don't even know what I'm doing. But I don't
even know what it means.

Speaker 3 (07:37):
To be in a fantasy football which is why I
say you will win.

Speaker 8 (07:40):
Do I get to go to an island? Is it
like fantasy island? Do I get to sit and eat
guacamole while choosing.

Speaker 6 (07:46):
Remote in your hands?

Speaker 3 (07:48):
Plane places everywhere?

Speaker 10 (07:53):
This is good morning, Betty with Boat Hubson and Beth's
trout bit.

Speaker 11 (08:04):
Nothing souls out.

Speaker 7 (08:08):
Seeing when when die is not kind, you said neither.

Speaker 5 (08:20):
Yeah, outside soul, So say every day.

Speaker 11 (08:29):
And all the spear say to be this girls.

Speaker 3 (08:43):
You know it's the most good morning bet thing ever.

Speaker 7 (08:46):
That the way we found out we were giving away
tickets to Toad the Wet Sprocket was Bernie one morning
last week's like, who is Toad the Wet Sprocket.

Speaker 8 (08:56):
I think he actually said, what is a toad wet Sprocket.

Speaker 9 (08:59):
And the next move in there it was a soft air.

Speaker 7 (09:01):
And then I went to go tell our program director
how we realized that we were giving away tickets, and
I said, somehow, just by circumstance, he sent that email
like right when we were doing this, and then he
didn't know how that it played out on the air
that way, right, Like he had no idea, like he
responded to us, but he didn't know we were talking
about Toad the wet Sprocket, So I was. I was

(09:22):
telling him after the show and I said, oh, yeah,
we're happy to give away tickets.

Speaker 3 (09:25):
But we just thought Bernie likes all toad the.

Speaker 7 (09:26):
Wetz Procket somewhere, and we were smith the segment explaining
it to him, and at the end of it we
were like, oh, that's because he got an email about
we're giving away tickets.

Speaker 8 (09:34):
We're giving away tickets.

Speaker 3 (09:36):
To see you guys.

Speaker 9 (09:37):
Get that email. I've seen it.

Speaker 7 (09:39):
I saw, Oh we did, but we were doing the
show at the time, so we didn't see it.

Speaker 3 (09:43):
But Bernie didn't say why he was.

Speaker 9 (09:45):
Looking at tod.

Speaker 7 (09:45):
He just went what is a Toad the West So
and we all kind of simultaneously said, you had to
grow up in the nineties.

Speaker 3 (09:54):
Yeah, dope. He plays more Towed the Wet Sprocket than
w each That is exactly right. So guess what day
next hour?

Speaker 7 (10:01):
In fact, we are giving away Toad the Wetsprocket tickets
also sixpence none the richer.

Speaker 3 (10:09):
And I'm afraid is it kt Tonstall?

Speaker 6 (10:12):
Yeah?

Speaker 3 (10:14):
Well for me that's Toonstall.

Speaker 7 (10:15):
Good cup buddy, it's the Good Intentions twenty twenty five tour.
It's coming this Saturday, so it's a it's a flash
contest here on Good Morning BT. We will give away
the tickets today and tomorrow and the next day, but
you'll actually had the show is this weekend. It's coming
up on Saturday at the Amp Valentine. And again Toad
the Wet Sprocket. Who knew they were still around and

(10:37):
they're playing and you can go see them.

Speaker 8 (10:39):
Do you remember the Katie Tunstall's song Her big hit
was the.

Speaker 10 (10:43):
Suddenly as It's Commercials?

Speaker 3 (10:46):
Yeah, I didn't know that was her.

Speaker 9 (10:49):
That's her?

Speaker 6 (10:49):
Is it her?

Speaker 3 (10:50):
That's her?

Speaker 5 (10:51):
That is KT?

Speaker 7 (10:53):
So I'm burying the lead here the way you're going
to win tickets. We're bringing back the name that contest.
It's named that nineties band with a weird name.

Speaker 8 (11:04):
Name that weird nineties band, which is pretty much all
of them.

Speaker 6 (11:06):
M h.

Speaker 7 (11:07):
I was reminded how many that is last night. In fact,
if you want to, you know, play, this is how
it would work. Like a name this this nineties band
with a weird name.

Speaker 3 (11:21):
What are you saying it's one.

Speaker 9 (11:22):
Of your bump spoull oh. I feel like I've heard
to use this as why did you pick.

Speaker 3 (11:26):
That one out of all the ones?

Speaker 5 (11:27):
Yeah?

Speaker 7 (11:28):
Both, Well, we know what the band's name is, don't
we kind of a weird nineties band name.

Speaker 3 (11:35):
It's called rubbish now.

Speaker 7 (11:37):
It's it's garbage. Rubbish would be a good band name,
probably is. When you're right, there's some really good ones.
I mean, Garbage is actually kind of the uh, the
most normal weird name that I found out of the group.

Speaker 8 (11:50):
I had so much fun just like sending him random names.
It's like, remember these guys.

Speaker 7 (11:54):
You were like chat GPT like I said it and
she like split out like forty names.

Speaker 3 (11:58):
It's like that this is waiting for me to ask
this question. But then I was just geting pelted with
the names. I was being pelted with garbage.

Speaker 8 (12:08):
Actually true, I texted, I mean like long long list.

Speaker 3 (12:12):
Took you like like fifteen seconds. They're like forty different names.
I'm like, I say, I'm going to forecast this is
gonna be one of the most difficult contest. I think,
like me, anyway, I know these songs and I'll know
the names you say them. I don't know that I
can connect these like what you just played I would not.

Speaker 8 (12:26):
Have connected to garbage.

Speaker 3 (12:28):
I remember that name. I remember that song a little bit.
But I think it's could be a challenging, challenging one
well as always be.

Speaker 7 (12:35):
Beth Gpt has spit out about forty names, and then
I added some of my own so that I can
kind of give you a few that.

Speaker 3 (12:41):
You weren't thinking that you can fool less.

Speaker 7 (12:43):
So the return of one of our famous, our most
famous contests, you know, name that blank. Over the years,
we've had so much fun with doing that. So coming
up in the seven o'clock hour, I think we'll crank
this up about seven to twenty.

Speaker 3 (12:55):
Name that nineties band with a weird name.

Speaker 7 (12:57):
For toad, the Wetsprocket ticket, Spruget tickets and sixpence down
the Richard not the easiest name to remember, exactly, sixpence
none the Richer, Like I that song to me when
when uh, you know, our sister station down the hall
back in the nineties was called one oh seven point
nine The Link, and there was stunning FM for.

Speaker 8 (13:16):
All of these iterations.

Speaker 3 (13:18):
But I remember when they launched it.

Speaker 7 (13:20):
I mean, we had this big, huge thing down here
what we call the Patterson Studio, and they had all
these I mean, it was a big deal when they
when they converted to one oh seven point nine The Link,
and uh, that was one of the songs from that
era that was just everywhere.

Speaker 3 (13:34):
So sounded exactly like that.

Speaker 9 (13:38):
That was impeccable on loop.

Speaker 3 (13:42):
All right, So that's coming up, Toad the wet Sprocket tickets.

Speaker 6 (13:45):
What is that.

Speaker 7 (13:46):
I'm never not going to think of Bernie now when
I hear those songs.

Speaker 3 (13:49):
Bernie needs to go to this concert.

Speaker 9 (13:50):
It was Mike, okay with how that unfolded.

Speaker 8 (13:52):
On it, well it kind of had to Be't no,
we can't put that rabbit back in the hole.

Speaker 7 (13:58):
But this is the way it is with the this
show around the building, like I went and told Mike
that and he kind of went right tracks right.

Speaker 10 (14:06):
This is good boarding beat.

Speaker 3 (14:12):
Tuesday morning. It's August nineteenth.

Speaker 7 (14:14):
Boak Thompson, Beth Troutman here, And of course, the big
story out of Washington and around the world this week
has been the meeting of so many world leaders, notably
President Trump Vladimir's Lensky at the White House yesterday. This
on the heels of the Friday meeting in Alaska with
Trump and Putin, and it was a crowded room yesterday

(14:34):
and some highlights from the discussions.

Speaker 12 (14:36):
I believe a peace agreement at the end of all
of this is something that's very attainable and it can
be done in the near future.

Speaker 13 (14:44):
President of the United States. Dear Donalds, for the fact
that you, as I said before, broke the debtlock basically
with the President Putin starting that dialogue. And I think
it was in February that you had the first a
phone call and from there we are now very are today,
and that is I think if we played this well,
we could end this, and we have to end it.

Speaker 3 (15:04):
The next steps had the more complicated ones.

Speaker 9 (15:07):
Now the path is open.

Speaker 6 (15:09):
You opened it last Friday.

Speaker 14 (15:12):
I think that we had a very good conversation with
President Trump, very good, and it really was the best
one or sorry, maybe the best one will be in
the future, but it was really good.

Speaker 7 (15:23):
So obviously the interaction between Zelensky and Trump start contrast
to what we saw several months ago. I at that
dramatic falling out they had that day, and of course
people were wondering, for good reason, whether that would happen again.

Speaker 3 (15:37):
It did not yesterday.

Speaker 8 (15:38):
Well, I think Zelensky was really smart when he came
into the Oval office this time, because he began the
conversation with thank yous, but mostly he talked about first
Lady Milania Trump's letter that was written to Vladimir Putin
about the children who have been abducted and taken from
Ukraine to Russia and the important and so of getting

(16:00):
those children back. And I think Zelensky was smart in
coming in and complimenting her and talking about the importance
of the letter that she wrote. And I think that
kind of broke the ice and started the conversation with flattery.
And we all, I mean we all know this isn't
a secret. We all know that Donald Trump responds to flattery.

Speaker 7 (16:20):
President Trump obviously you heard him there. He made He
put a truth social message out last night that reads
this way. I had a very good meeting with distinguished
guests yesterday at the White House, and I think we
know who those people are by now. But he said,
during the meeting, we discussed security guarantees for Ukraine. Which guarantees,
which guarantees would be provided by the various European countries

(16:43):
with the coordination with the United States of America. Everyone
is very happy about the possibility of peace for Russia
and Ukraine. At the conclusion of my meetings, I called
President Putin and began the arrangement for a meeting at
a location to be determined between President Putin and President Zelensky.
After that meeting takes place, we will have a trilat,
which would be two presidents plus myself. Again, this was

(17:05):
a very good early step for a war that has
been going on for almost four years. Vice President j.
D Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, and Special Envoy
Steve Whitkoff are coordinating with Russia and Ukraine. Thank you
for your attention to this matter. And then Zelenski, before
he left the White House, spoke to reporters in front

(17:26):
of the White House about what he had just.

Speaker 15 (17:28):
Experienced, coordinating how to work on security guarantees, and the
President of the US contacted the Russian side and they
spoke diplomatic about the possible diplomatic Russia first bilateral meeting

(17:54):
in Ukraine and Russia followed.

Speaker 7 (18:01):
At the level of leaders, at the level of.

Speaker 15 (18:04):
Les painful issues even for US. So I was supported
by all the Europeans.

Speaker 4 (18:22):
Meetings.

Speaker 15 (18:23):
And after that we are counting on a tri depending
on how thelaterals goes.

Speaker 3 (18:29):
So in principle that.

Speaker 8 (18:30):
Is the result.

Speaker 15 (18:33):
I believe it is a good one. It is a
good result normal.

Speaker 7 (18:37):
I know it's it's a lot going on there at
the same time, but I wanted you to hear what
he had to say when he was by himself and
speaking to reporters, the way that our American president would
when he finishes something like that.

Speaker 3 (18:49):
And so here we are well.

Speaker 8 (18:50):
And unfortunately, after the meeting with Putin on Friday and
the meetings that happened yesterday, Russia launched the largest attack
of August on Ukraine. This is right after the Trump
Zelenski meeting. They launched multiple drones. I believe it was
around two hundred and seventy drones ten missiles into Ukraine,
killing at least seven people, two of which were children.

(19:12):
And Vladimir Putin has said, you know, they're not targeting
civilian areas. One of the areas hit hardest an apartment
building where a one year old child was killed. So
it's apparent that he is saying one thing and doing
something else. And it is horrific that on the day
of this meeting where Donald Trump is trying to negotiate

(19:35):
some sort of peace, I feel like this was a
move on Putin's part to say, hey, look, we're still
part of the violent process. When they launched this attack,
I mean, the same day. That sounds calculated.

Speaker 7 (19:47):
And so now we wait to see about this trilat
this trilateral meeting between Zelenski, Trump, and Putin. Last night
on Fox with Jesse Waters, Marco Rubio. Once again, Rubio
had been sort of the face of the administration as
far as messaging went. On the Sunday morning after the
Friday visit, Rubio back on Fox last night talking to Waters.

(20:08):
Were you in the room when the President talked to
Vladimir Putin?

Speaker 12 (20:12):
I was.

Speaker 16 (20:13):
I was in that conversation, you know, what came from
it is that, you know, the President suggested that Zelensky
and Putin meet. So we're working on that now to
try to set that up for them to meet somewhere,
which again would be unprecedented, and then if that goes well,
hopefully the next meeting will be a meeting between Presidents Putin,
Trump and Zelensky where we hope to Findaliza deal. We're

(20:34):
not there yet, but that's what we're aiming towards, and
that's one of the things that was discussed today is
how to get to that point. But just the fact
that Putin is saying, sure, I'll meet with Zolensky, that's
a big deal. I mean, I'm not saying they're going
to leave that room best friends. I'm not saying they're
going to leave that room with a peace deal. But
I think the fact that people are now talking to
each other. This wasn't happening for three and a half years.
This was a stalemated war of death and destruction. And

(20:56):
let me tell you something, this president hates war and
he hates it. He thinks it's a waste of money
and a waste of lives, and he has made it
a priority President Trump has to bring about peace. If
he sees an opportunity to step in and broker a piece,
he wants.

Speaker 9 (21:10):
To do it.

Speaker 7 (21:10):
Marco Rubio on Fox last night, So that catches you
up to where we are right now. The world waits
to see if this Trilatin meeting will actually take place,
and waiting to hear what the Kremlin might have to
say about this.

Speaker 8 (21:23):
Ye I've been waiting to see if President Trump would
say anything about the actual launch of the drones and
the attacks that killed multiple people in Ukraine yesterday coming
from Russia just after their meeting, and.

Speaker 3 (21:36):
He very well may.

Speaker 7 (21:37):
While we're on the air here, as we always a
monitor truth, social and all the outlets where the President
is prone to speak. Rolling on on this Tuesday morning,
Bowen Beth, here some interesting broadcast slash business news was
announced yesterday. I'm sure you've probably heard this. MSNBC will
no longer be MSNBC. This is part of a Comcast

(22:00):
deal where Comcast is getting rid of all its cable outlets,
although it's maintaining NBC News and Universal. However, MSNBC will
continue without the NBC affiliation. So now instead of MSNBC,
which of course once stood for Microsoft National Broadcasting Company, which.

Speaker 8 (22:20):
Is weird in and of itself when you really think
about it, that that was weird.

Speaker 7 (22:25):
It never made It always seemed to me like there
were it presented an issue on both sides because for NBC,
the mothership NBC, it sort of grade the area, especially
once MSNBC became so opinionated.

Speaker 3 (22:41):
In the early days, it wasn't so much like that.

Speaker 8 (22:42):
It was like none of the none of the networks
were in the beginning, you know, CNN certainly wasn't, MSNBC wasn't.
Even Fox was probably more centrist. I mean, their their
whole tagline. In the beginning of Fox News, the cable
news network was fair and balanced, and then everything has
shifted over time. I feel like once the two thousand

(23:05):
and eight election started and you had the McCain versus
Barack Obama and the Sarah Palins, you know, jumping onto
the scene, everything started splitting.

Speaker 7 (23:13):
Now. You and I worked for a Fox Network affiliate
for a while here in town, and we used to
get calls at the switchboard all the time thinking that
we Fox affiliate, meaning you know, carrying Fox TV programming,
were the same as Fox News Channel. Right now, owned
by the same company at the top, Yes, but really
not the only the only time that you see Fox

(23:34):
News Channel people on the Fox Network. You see it
on Sunday Mornings with the State of the Year or
what's it called Fox News Sunday now Shannon Breem hosts
and Chris Wallace did back in the day. And every
once in a while it's a big enough story, like
you know, a convention hour or a debate, they will
have Fox News. But it's it's it's sort of a

(23:55):
it's like a watered down version of Fox Space.

Speaker 8 (23:58):
Well and if you thought, if you that the MSNBC
name was strange when it first came out, and you thought, well,
are they going to only you know, write their stories
on Microsoft products and only do their research on Microsoft products. Well, now, folks,
you have a brand new name. It is not MSNBC.

Speaker 7 (24:15):
It is ms now my source for news, opinion and
the world. That's the acronyms.

Speaker 8 (24:24):
So they want you to know, they want it to
be completely separate from what you have known MSNBC to
b and they want to take away the connection to Microsoft,
but they kept ms They kept the MS which makes
it seem I mean basically it's the same letters except
for an O and a W versus A B, N,
A C. You know, it's MSNOW rather than MSNBC, but

(24:47):
it's ms now.

Speaker 7 (24:49):
It always seemed to me like a problematic relationship because
if you're NBC then and you want to be considered
a mainstream news then the connection with ms NBC, which
is decided partisan. I mean, no one's going to argue
that these days, any more than you're going to argue
that Fox News is partisan to the right side of things.
But when you look at the fact that they use
the same logo, it muddies the waters.

Speaker 3 (25:11):
It always has to.

Speaker 8 (25:12):
Me and some of the same talent, some of the
same reporters, they'll they'll they'll share packages, some of the
same weekend hosts for the Today Show.

Speaker 7 (25:20):
And Brian Williams had a ten o'clock newscast on MSNBC,
then he graduated to NBC Nightly News and then found
controversy and then ultimately went back to MSNBC trying to
resuscitate his career. But then, you know, I think it's
it's fascinating here because I think in the end, MSNBC
not having the resources of NBC going forward is going

(25:43):
to really hurt it. In fact, I have a hard
time feeling. Look, I'm really wondering what the MSNBC is
going to be in five years because no matter how
you ms now, but I'm wondering if it's going to
be an MS then right MS way back then, because
whether you know, take the part and ship out of it,
we all know that MSNBC benefits from the resources of NBC.

(26:08):
And when NBC is gone from that, then what is
what is MS now going to look like as a
as a business venture.

Speaker 8 (26:14):
Well, here's my thought with the idea of naming it
ms now. It lends itself to being nothing but an app,
to nothing but a new streaming app. And my guess
is in five years that's exactly where it will be.
It'll no longer be a broadcasting network for news. It
will only be an app for news.

Speaker 7 (26:32):
Well it now becomes that's a guess.

Speaker 8 (26:34):
I'm not saying I know anything. That's just my guess.

Speaker 3 (26:36):
That makes a lot of sense.

Speaker 7 (26:37):
The other thing now is their their decision to put
opinion in the actual title of the network. None of
these other networks, whether it's CNN, whether it's Fox, MSNBC,
none of them have gone as far as leaning into
the opinion part of it enough to put it in
their name.

Speaker 8 (26:54):
Yeah, not in their name, but they do put it
in their lower thirds. For the shows that you know
back in the day when Tucker Curls and was on
Fox or the Sean Hannity's of the World, they'll they'll
sometimes put it in the lower third.

Speaker 7 (27:05):
News Talk eleven ten WBT almost seven o'clock.

Speaker 1 (27:12):
From News Talk eleven ten and ninety nine three WBT.

Speaker 6 (27:16):
Yew.

Speaker 5 (27:16):
The energy in this place is just amazing, pure energy.

Speaker 10 (27:19):
This is Good Morning BET with Bo Thompson and Beth Trout.

Speaker 8 (27:23):
With what I'm talking about is the pulse of the collection.

Speaker 9 (27:26):
Come a little percussion.

Speaker 7 (27:34):
News Talk eleven ten WBT, Tuesday, August nineteenth.

Speaker 3 (27:41):
North Carolina tar Heels.

Speaker 7 (27:43):
Basketball and football been on BT for years, will be
on BET again this year.

Speaker 3 (27:48):
With one notable exception.

Speaker 7 (27:52):
We wondered about this when Bill Belichick took over as
the head coach of the North Carolina tar Heels. Would
he do all the things that Mac Brown and Vick
Crumb and all the coaches before him had done, namely,
would he do the weekly coaches show from Top of
the Hill. Yeah, I mean, in recent years it's been

(28:12):
Top of the Hill, and in years before that, it
was you know, sometimes from his office back in the
days of Woody Durham and now of course Jones Angel.

Speaker 3 (28:19):
But we have gotten word.

Speaker 7 (28:20):
According to Reuter's, Tar Hills have said in a news
release that Bill Belichick will not be part of their
weekly radio program this season. Previously, it was called Mac
Brown Live if you remember, on this station, for many
many years it was hosted by Jones Angel. Now it's
going to be called Carolina Football Live and Tar Hills
GM Michael Lombardi will be headlining each episode with Jones,

(28:44):
although they do say that Belichick will be on the
season premiere of Carolina Football Live, so he'll be on
the first episode, but that'll.

Speaker 9 (28:53):
Be the end of it.

Speaker 8 (28:54):
How nice of him.

Speaker 3 (28:55):
I have a much better name for the show this year,
for Chapel Hill people. He's not here here.

Speaker 8 (29:03):
Oh my gosh, that is the most brilliant thing that
has ever come from your lips, Jim Zochie.

Speaker 3 (29:10):
Did that be the best name for the show, Yes,
because I do it from He's not here.

Speaker 5 (29:13):
Do it from me?

Speaker 8 (29:14):
He's not here the bar on Franklin Street.

Speaker 3 (29:17):
Oh no, see I didn't know there was a bar.
Call I just got the joke was famous Blue Cups.

Speaker 8 (29:23):
Yes, it's like one of the most popular bars on
Franklin Street.

Speaker 3 (29:27):
The wolf packers in the room don't get the joke.

Speaker 9 (29:29):
That's funny. That's funny, all right, So what.

Speaker 3 (29:31):
Do you want to know him bar?

Speaker 8 (29:32):
It's so perfect he's not here. Instead of broadcasting from top,
we're gonna tell Jones this because we're gonna start our
weekly and.

Speaker 3 (29:40):
Bill take credit for it. Yes, I had this great idea,
and then I'll say it with Steve.

Speaker 8 (29:48):
We start our interviews with Jones Angel next week. You
know how during the fall football season we always talked
to him weekly. We should suggest this. I think that
is the most brilliant idea.

Speaker 3 (29:58):
Jones loves a great.

Speaker 8 (29:59):
Gag and he's a Chapel Hill grad.

Speaker 3 (30:02):
He's our first question out of the gate. So Jones,
what happened? Or think I have Bill there? But Jordan's
sitting off to the side, and if soon asked a question,
yeah we're not talking about about that's exactly right.

Speaker 8 (30:12):
But would you like to see my Mermaid costume?

Speaker 3 (30:14):
Oh my goodness, so so the debut things Jones would
love to talk about the.

Speaker 7 (30:19):
Debut of Carolina Sports Live. And the very first episode
will have Belichick. That'll be on Wednesday, the twenty seventh,
and then our first conversation, Thursday's Going Forward, will be
with Jones on Thursday the twenty eighth. So all these
questions that we have, I'm sure we can get answered
by the Jones that day, so we continue our tradition.
But Belichick is not I wonder.

Speaker 8 (30:40):
If we could get Belichick, do you think he'll do
You think.

Speaker 3 (30:42):
I think there's a zero percent forget Bill both, especially
now that that he's not here, Joe, You'll get Mike
Lombardi if you ask the Bill Belichick. That's right. I'm sorry,
waiter By, I asked for the Belichick. I think I
got the Lombardi by accident.

Speaker 7 (30:55):
So are you are you surprised that he's doing and
he's not doing it? I mean, did we really I
think that he was going to embrace everything that much?
Or based on what you've seen so far, are you
surprised that he decided not to?

Speaker 3 (31:06):
I guess you know you think of like, first of all,
the overwhelming amount of interest there isn't it. It probably
can't be handled by any one restaurant or bar up
there anyway, So it probably would be a problem to
host something where he was showing up live. Did you
say he's on the program like a recorded for him
or something.

Speaker 7 (31:23):
According to this, he's on the first show but then
not involved.

Speaker 3 (31:26):
That's that's interesting. So I would think you'd still want
the coach on just to have the conversation. Like for
Panther Talk, which we did last night, Coach Canalis does
the first segment and it's about I don't know, twelve
minutes or something like that of ten to twelve minutes
of conversation with him, and then a niche and Eugene
and I do the rest of the show with player
interviews and some other things. We used to do a
live show back in the day at the stadium where

(31:47):
the coach would show up, but it's been years. I
think you still want to hear from the coach. I mean,
you just have that interaction. Doesn't have to be live
interaction with the fans, but I think they know you
want to hear about the team from the coach. I mean,
that's what you want.

Speaker 8 (31:59):
And just to point out that the show used to
be called Mac Brown Live, I mean, which.

Speaker 3 (32:03):
Would be awkward name now for it.

Speaker 9 (32:04):
He could send Steve Belichick, he could send his son.
I mean who they could you know, the Belichick Show,
they could still name of the Belichick.

Speaker 3 (32:09):
Who could forget Carl Torbusch Live?

Speaker 5 (32:11):
Was that what it was called?

Speaker 7 (32:12):
I mean at one point John Bunting Live. It's always
been John Bunting Live. Crumblin, you know, it's always been
the name of the coach.

Speaker 3 (32:18):
It's been Mack Brown Live twice.

Speaker 9 (32:19):
That's right, Well, that's true.

Speaker 3 (32:21):
But what is Hubert Davish as a Hubert the Basketball
that's a show.

Speaker 7 (32:25):
That's a good question because Hubert, I mean, but Hubert
is a tar heel, you know, true and true, a traditionalist.

Speaker 3 (32:31):
I would guess that that.

Speaker 7 (32:32):
Hubert will keep doing what he's always done, because that's
always been a big deal to him to keep those
Roy Williams and Dean Smith traditions up.

Speaker 6 (32:39):
But I don't.

Speaker 3 (32:39):
I don't know that for a fact.

Speaker 7 (32:41):
And I also think, I mean, look, no one's confirmed this,
but if if the Heels end up being really good
and it's a really good story for Belichick, I mean
I think maybe he does show up on some of
these shows here and there.

Speaker 3 (32:52):
But the point is. He's not doing what all Tar Hill.

Speaker 7 (32:55):
Coaches before him have done, which is basically be there
for a coaches show each week. It's it's now going
to be done by one of his lieutenants, and so
we'll see not.

Speaker 8 (33:04):
Nearly as fun. I can't stand it though he's not here.

Speaker 6 (33:07):
Guys.

Speaker 8 (33:07):
It's the greatest show name.

Speaker 3 (33:10):
Ever for that has to be held there to move,
have to move it there.

Speaker 8 (33:15):
I can't get past it.

Speaker 3 (33:16):
Guys. Hey and thoroughly enjoy the show.

Speaker 8 (33:19):
Thank you for taking the time to call in.

Speaker 10 (33:22):
Well, y'all keep it worry done?

Speaker 9 (33:23):
Great?

Speaker 3 (33:24):
Yeah, thank you, man, keep on keeping on. This is
good morning, beauty.

Speaker 10 (33:28):
It's Boon and Path. What's your name?

Speaker 5 (33:30):
Dude? My name is the name show name got?

Speaker 3 (33:35):
His stupid name?

Speaker 12 (33:36):
Is it?

Speaker 3 (33:43):
That's your name?

Speaker 5 (33:44):
I've not the long, long shon name.

Speaker 3 (33:50):
What a weird name too.

Speaker 5 (33:51):
We started the show. It is time the head of
the chest.

Speaker 7 (33:57):
It's been a while since we had any kind of
contest on this show. It has been a little bit,
so it makes it all the more fun to bring
it back.

Speaker 8 (34:05):
And this is a fun one because man, are we
all about the nineties? And by we I mean me
Because Bo wasn't actually a big fan of the nineties.

Speaker 7 (34:13):
I was born then the nineties were just weird. Seven
O four five, seven eleven ten. Named that nineties band
with a weird name, kind of like Toad the Wet Sprocket.

Speaker 3 (34:25):
They will be headlining.

Speaker 7 (34:28):
The Good Intentions twenty twenty five tour coming up on
Saturday Night. Also special guests sixpence, None the Richer and
KT Tunstall. So we have loaded lines here to name
that weird eighties band or nineties band. Excuse me, well,
and just no, no weird bands in the eighties.

Speaker 8 (34:45):
Just a little bit of trivia. Bill texted us, and
this was something that someone else texted us. Let welchick, Yes,
Bill Belichick. Bill wanted us to know that Toad the
Wet Sprocket was originally the name of a fictional band
in a mon Python sketch.

Speaker 7 (35:01):
Still weird, it is weird, still weird. And you know
how this works. You gotta get two, you gotta get
too correct. So I got a nice long list of
weirdness seven oh four to five, seven oh eleven ten,
Line number one, Joe, Joe, Welcome to the show.

Speaker 2 (35:20):
I was a parental nightmare because I loved the butthole surfers.

Speaker 8 (35:29):
Give it away the answers already, Joe, Oh my gosh,
you just made our morning.

Speaker 3 (35:33):
Hey there are may be a few buttholes in here.

Speaker 7 (35:35):
We'll see.

Speaker 3 (35:38):
I spell a bup of surfers.

Speaker 8 (35:39):
All these are sentences. I never thought I would hurt.

Speaker 5 (35:42):
This, I would hear on this.

Speaker 7 (35:43):
They said this show, this show, good morning beat. You
would be great to give away these tickets. Now they
see what they've gotten into. All right, Joe, you ready?

Speaker 3 (35:51):
All right? Here is Weird Nineties band number one. Yeah,
that's another one. My mom loved you. Go Limp Biscuits.
Oh my gosh.

Speaker 8 (36:11):
I still want Joe to win, just because she's just
right out of the gate.

Speaker 7 (36:16):
There are gen zers going a limp. What Okay, Joe,
you're halfway there, Bernie, next time around?

Speaker 3 (36:24):
Uh, I gotta do number eight. Okay, Joe.

Speaker 7 (36:26):
I feel like you're I feel like you're going to
get this. But I mean, how could we do a
a weird nineties band list and not put this one
in there?

Speaker 5 (36:34):
I just want you, Oh, come on.

Speaker 17 (36:44):
Joe, Oh gosh, hold on, I know it.

Speaker 18 (36:46):
Oh my gosh, whom we just wanted to say Whostak.
Look at Joe, Joe, I'm so glad you won. You
just feel like the perfect person to win.

Speaker 8 (36:57):
Oh, congratulations, Joe, I feel like you. I'm going to
have so much fun at this concert. Yeah, and that
is a great show.

Speaker 19 (37:04):
My mom's like, why can't you just listen to new
Kids on the block like everybody.

Speaker 7 (37:07):
Else, because because, like you know, all these years later,
Huba Stank was gonna come into play for you to
win a contest.

Speaker 9 (37:14):
Exactly.

Speaker 3 (37:16):
There you go, miss Ben childhood paid off. I just
wanted you all day long.

Speaker 7 (37:20):
I want you to say I want Toad the wet
Sprocket tickets because I knew Huba Stank.

Speaker 6 (37:26):
There you go.

Speaker 3 (37:27):
Way to go, Joe. I'll put you online for Steve.

Speaker 9 (37:29):
Thank you.

Speaker 10 (37:31):
Gosh.

Speaker 8 (37:32):
I love her so much that she just she was born.

Speaker 3 (37:34):
To win that contrast.

Speaker 8 (37:35):
Yes, right out of the gate. I was afraid when
I said, because I sent Bo the name of the Surfers,
and I was afraid we wouldn't even be able to
say the band name. And now it's just down.

Speaker 3 (37:46):
Just screamed it over.

Speaker 8 (37:46):
I am radio, send it right outlet.

Speaker 3 (37:48):
I'm not allowed to say about Hole on the air.

Speaker 20 (37:52):
I'm Casey case one, Casey's top forty. We're getting closer
and closer to number one. Also standing at this week
is another first top ten, this one from the band
Toad the Wet Sprocket.

Speaker 3 (38:06):
Here's all. I want things out.

Speaker 7 (38:13):
When that's right, we're giving away Toad the Wet Sprocket
tickets along with.

Speaker 8 (38:18):
Sorry, I just interrupted you. Even Casey Casey laughed at
their name. He was like, he's a little giggle at
the end after saying.

Speaker 3 (38:25):
The wet Sprucket, here's all, even you.

Speaker 8 (38:30):
It was a weird name.

Speaker 3 (38:32):
Do you think that was in the script?

Speaker 6 (38:34):
Yeah?

Speaker 3 (38:35):
Chuckle here, Yeah, it was good for you to see.

Speaker 6 (38:38):
Chuckle.

Speaker 7 (38:39):
All right, it's towed the Wet Sprocket. It's Katie Tunstall
and sixpence none the richer. The Good Intentions twenty twenty
five to are this Saturday night at the Amp Valentine.
So we call this a flash contest. You in today,
you go to the contest or concert coming up on
Saturday night. So let's go to the phone lines and

(39:02):
all we want is to talk to Aaron. Aaron, welcome
to Good morning BT. Good morning, how're you going?

Speaker 3 (39:11):
Good to have you bored?

Speaker 7 (39:13):
So you think you know that, you think you know
that the weird nineties band.

Speaker 9 (39:18):
Well, most of my music knowledge comes from my dad,
so we'll see how well he trained me.

Speaker 7 (39:21):
Okay, okay, So it's named that nineties band with a
weird name, Bernie let her rip.

Speaker 5 (39:29):
Explain.

Speaker 3 (39:44):
All right, no self respecting parent from the nineties. You
get this one wrong.

Speaker 6 (39:50):
I'm drawing a right, Aaron.

Speaker 3 (39:53):
Can you phone a friend?

Speaker 7 (39:55):
Can you phone your dad?

Speaker 8 (39:58):
Yeah, like this whole thing was weird. The band name
is weird, the song's weird. It's just all weird.

Speaker 9 (40:04):
It's like a big wreck.

Speaker 7 (40:07):
Oh yeah, we could do the show in his voice today.
All right, Aaron, thanks for calling man. We sorry, sorry,
didn't win.

Speaker 8 (40:15):
We love you, We like talking to you.

Speaker 3 (40:16):
Spurs that sound didn't catch out more with other bands.
It's so hard.

Speaker 9 (40:24):
I don't feel good.

Speaker 3 (40:29):
My number five. Let's go to Paul.

Speaker 7 (40:31):
Paul Is on WBT wants to name that nineties band
with a weird name. Hi Paul, All right, Paul, here
it is again.

Speaker 12 (40:43):
Explain naked lady.

Speaker 11 (40:45):
No, no, sorry, it's not man.

Speaker 3 (40:49):
It doesn't sound anything.

Speaker 6 (40:50):
Like bar naked.

Speaker 8 (40:51):
Well, okay, so both uh, both bands have three names.
Three names in the name, three words in the name,
but they.

Speaker 3 (41:00):
Don't sound anything alive. Like the question is like, what
is the opposite of this thing?

Speaker 7 (41:08):
I mean it would sound like pitchin one week.

Speaker 6 (41:14):
Looked up me?

Speaker 3 (41:15):
Is that the sound up music that Julie and Julie interesting?

Speaker 6 (41:19):
Is that Julian?

Speaker 3 (41:20):
Oh my gosh, the phones they're going nuts. Hm, they
know that one seven oh four five seven oh from Barber.
Oh there's Casey.

Speaker 20 (41:29):
That's the band called Toad the Wetsprocket for the second
week in enroll.

Speaker 7 (41:33):
That okay, So we're waiting for the lines to uh
to fill back up here because hmm, nobody could be.

Speaker 3 (41:41):
Had to chase the last collar on be prepared to
be be rated if you get it wrong.

Speaker 7 (41:47):
That's the truth though, Like not only are people like
either getting it wrong or getting it right, but they're
realizing that was a weird time for music.

Speaker 8 (41:55):
Actually, when you go back now and listen to it,
it really was.

Speaker 7 (41:59):
In fact, let's go back listen to it, Bernie. Here's
the song that's on the board right now as our
board is filling up. Explain all right, let's go to
Ryan online number one.

Speaker 10 (42:17):
Hi, Ryan, good morning, guys, out the door good.

Speaker 5 (42:21):
Ryan.

Speaker 3 (42:22):
Do you know what this is playing right now?

Speaker 5 (42:23):
Ryan?

Speaker 2 (42:25):
Uh yeah, I agree with y'all. I'm like, after growing
up in the nineties and listening back to this stuff,
now it's pretty.

Speaker 3 (42:31):
Bad, but it can be for something good if you
know who this is?

Speaker 9 (42:37):
Who is this?

Speaker 8 (42:38):
I believe that is the crash tip.

Speaker 3 (42:40):
There you go, there you go.

Speaker 7 (42:42):
Well done, well done the crash test dummies. So you
know how this works. Ryan, you gotta get too correct.
Are you ready for your second nineties weird band?

Speaker 9 (42:50):
I'm ready?

Speaker 7 (42:51):
All right, you got this one. If you knew that one,
I think you'll know this one. Let her rip there, Bernie,
Oh yeah, it is away.

Speaker 3 (43:11):
Oh god, I know this one. They were huge, they
were huge.

Speaker 2 (43:18):
I think it's the President of the United States.

Speaker 7 (43:21):
Yes, and for you complete, its the presidents of the
United States of America.

Speaker 9 (43:27):
Yes, there you go.

Speaker 3 (43:28):
All right, Ryan, there you go, man, you win.

Speaker 8 (43:30):
I'm gonna go into the concert.

Speaker 9 (43:33):
Awesome, Thank you.

Speaker 3 (43:35):
Ryan gets to go listen to weird music on Saturday night.

Speaker 8 (43:38):
And I was like, did I want these tickets?

Speaker 3 (43:40):
Questioned your life decisions.

Speaker 8 (43:41):
And every else. I think it's going to be a
super duper fun show.

Speaker 7 (43:46):
Absolutely, and then maybe someday we'll get to give away
tickets to the Crash Test Dummies.

Speaker 8 (43:50):
Oh guys if they come, how hilarious. Do were there
any other Crash Test Dummy songs?

Speaker 3 (43:55):
I don't remember any.

Speaker 7 (43:56):
Yes, yes there actually were, as one that's called after
Noons and Coffee Spoons you don't believe and talk amongst yourself.

Speaker 8 (44:03):
Of course it was called Afternoons and Coffee.

Speaker 3 (44:05):
That'll be a different contest. Weird song names, I.

Speaker 8 (44:10):
Know it's in here, But the nineties had all of that.

Speaker 3 (44:13):
I mean it was still finding itself.

Speaker 8 (44:15):
Yeah, but think about that, like the Crash Test Dummies.
Was that the pendulum swinging way way to the other
direction from eighties music? You know, you have like White
Snake and then ten years later you have the Crash
Test Dummies.

Speaker 3 (44:28):
Yeah, okayt angst in that music.

Speaker 7 (44:30):
Here it is a crank is up burning, let's see here,
And and it was.

Speaker 9 (44:33):
Called oh my god, here it is.

Speaker 6 (44:45):
I disappearing?

Speaker 11 (44:46):
Hell, what is happening?

Speaker 6 (44:49):
I don't know that.

Speaker 8 (44:50):
It sounds like he has the hiccups.

Speaker 3 (44:52):
There's the weirdest voice.

Speaker 7 (44:54):
Yeah, but it's like it's a happy he's trying to
be happy.

Speaker 3 (44:58):
It's so weird damn this I can lay by.

Speaker 9 (45:05):
I have no idea what he's like, a more grungy
or county growth. You imagine if I.

Speaker 3 (45:10):
If I made this one of the songs.

Speaker 8 (45:13):
It actually he has a little bit of creed going on.

Speaker 3 (45:19):
Shots fired?

Speaker 7 (45:21):
Yeah, all right, well congratulations there we got two winters.

Speaker 9 (45:25):
That was the goal.

Speaker 3 (45:26):
One more time here. Hell, I don't know how to
feel like? What emotions is this going for?

Speaker 9 (45:41):
Am I happy?

Speaker 3 (45:41):
If I said concerned? I don't know what the song
is going for?

Speaker 7 (45:47):
All right there it is afternoons and coffee spoons here
it is right here.

Speaker 3 (45:54):
Weird God, I don't know.

Speaker 11 (45:57):
Hey, what's up?

Speaker 9 (45:58):
How you doing?

Speaker 3 (45:59):
Fam man like that? I don't know what it means,
but I like it.

Speaker 8 (46:02):
Hey, how are you hi? We're great? Your news show
is fun?

Speaker 10 (46:08):
This is good morning?

Speaker 3 (46:09):
Bet I was this girl?

Speaker 11 (46:17):
What and go and change with them?

Speaker 3 (46:21):
This is the weirdest song. It's not just a weird
name for a band. It's a weird it's the whole
song is weird. It's a whole vibe going on.

Speaker 7 (46:28):
But I mean, hey, we we talk what we talk about,
and we've got lots of texts. Even though the contest
is over.

Speaker 8 (46:35):
We got a text from Chris Rozac from what six
five to end that we were talking about him, and
Chris said, well twice in two weeks. Of all my
years in radio and all the radio stations I've gotten
to be on, it's an honor to be the topic
of discussion on WBT radio. Bucket list item checked off.

Speaker 3 (46:52):
We're one big, happy community. Welcome to AM radio.

Speaker 8 (46:56):
Quest love Chris Roseach, I love that guy.

Speaker 7 (46:59):
Let's go to Buddy on line one. As a Hancock
would say, Hey, buddy, what's that buddy?

Speaker 3 (47:06):
What's up?

Speaker 2 (47:07):
So bo? I'm a little disappointed. Oh, you're such a
Superman fan that you don't know the other crash test
of Me song. There's a Superman song and it came
out a year before Superman died in the comic and
it's about the death of Superman.

Speaker 8 (47:22):
Wait, Superman died in the comics.

Speaker 3 (47:24):
Wait you mean you mean this?

Speaker 7 (47:29):
Yes, See, Buddy, I can't. I can't pull all my bag,
my tricks out of my bag at once.

Speaker 6 (47:36):
You did know?

Speaker 12 (47:37):
Okay, Well you said there was one more.

Speaker 2 (47:38):
I'm like, man, there's two more? You know they at
least two more?

Speaker 7 (47:42):
Yeah, there was Well, Beth, Beth got a text about
another one too, And I had heard of this one,
but quite quite honestly, i'd forgotten about it.

Speaker 8 (47:50):
It was the Ballad of Peter Pumpkinhead.

Speaker 3 (47:54):
Yes, yep, hang on, what a catalog the greatest hit this,
So you got to keep the song names in line
with the.

Speaker 9 (48:05):
Band name is weird?

Speaker 8 (48:07):
Buddy. I feel like with your deep, rich voice, you
could sing some crash test dummies.

Speaker 2 (48:11):
Oh maybe I don't know. I had Uh, he's telling
me I had a radio voice.

Speaker 7 (48:17):
You do.

Speaker 8 (48:17):
You have a great voice.

Speaker 10 (48:18):
Yeah, thank you.

Speaker 3 (48:19):
You sound like a crash test dummy.

Speaker 8 (48:21):
Do us a little?

Speaker 9 (48:23):
Have you ever thought of Booby?

Speaker 8 (48:31):
I kind of wanted in to sing.

Speaker 3 (48:33):
So this is This is actually from the soundtrack of
Dumb and Dummer.

Speaker 8 (48:37):
Oh the Pumpkinhead Ye, yes, featuring Ellen Reid of course,
the superstar.

Speaker 3 (48:46):
These guys quietly tunded. They're probably like all billionaire, Yeah
they are.

Speaker 8 (48:50):
And we would never recognize them if we saw them
in public or no.

Speaker 3 (48:53):
They're other songs besides the one.

Speaker 2 (48:57):
Well, guys, y'all have a great morning. Thanks so much.

Speaker 7 (48:59):
I listened to you all the Thank you, buddy, Buddy, Buddy,
you're the man.

Speaker 6 (49:06):
All right?

Speaker 3 (49:07):
Like his voice on Helium.

Speaker 8 (49:09):
Yeah, it's not him.

Speaker 3 (49:10):
Maybe that's Ellen Reed. Oh, I'm gonna assume. I'm gonna
assume that's Ellen Reed.

Speaker 6 (49:14):
Hey.

Speaker 7 (49:14):
So I'm just gonna take a detour for a moment here,
because every once in a while something on the station
I hear as I'm driving home, I was here hearing
you know, the other shows, and I'm listening to Vince
the other day and I just hear Vince talking to
a caller and I don't even know what the context
really was, but but Vince's reaction to this.

Speaker 3 (49:32):
Hang. Honestly, I'm gonna play it here.

Speaker 21 (49:33):
I've lived here all my life and I'll be sixty
two in December. I mean, it's ironic. I was safer
welcome with my kid brother to Thomas for the neighborhood
school back in the early seventies.

Speaker 10 (49:43):
I am now.

Speaker 21 (49:44):
I wouldn't even walk around the block now unless I
had a gun strapped on my hue.

Speaker 3 (49:47):
Gosh, that's not a good thing. Have you thought about moving?

Speaker 7 (49:53):
I was running down the road and you know this,
this this heartfelt story, and it's like Vince is like,
have you thought about moving?

Speaker 9 (50:02):
Just staying in?

Speaker 3 (50:04):
You're going to a trailer Park in Gaston County. So
that's what was.

Speaker 7 (50:09):
Sometimes these things come up in the middle of our
conversations and I have to give you context.

Speaker 3 (50:13):
Because because well why not. That's funny? All right?

Speaker 9 (50:17):
Thanks Mark?

Speaker 3 (50:19):
I love it, Thanks buddy. Mart Mark sounded about like
Vince did there. Yeah, that's fine, that's funny movie. You
got a laugh at it, but it's funny. Hey, One
more thing, one more thing Mark thought about moving.

Speaker 9 (50:29):
Good morning son.

Speaker 3 (50:30):
Isn't this great blue sky? Fresh cut grass birds?

Speaker 7 (50:34):
Turmina Sam Pomei's from News.

Speaker 10 (50:36):
Talk eleven ten and ninety nine three w BT.

Speaker 3 (50:40):
No, I know you could smoke on stage here, you
can't use.

Speaker 8 (50:43):
The mock cigarettes.

Speaker 1 (50:45):
This is Good Morning Beat with Bo Thompson and Beth
Trout bit Bob Man's Ban's refrigeration.

Speaker 8 (50:51):
Do you a lot to learn about this town?

Speaker 10 (50:53):
Sweeten?

Speaker 7 (50:54):
So the text line is open, you know this driven
by liberty buw at GMC, And what a tool it
is for us because listeners let us know that things
like this are out there and yes exist.

Speaker 9 (51:08):
The snow well did unto certain shtan fields? Were they
they not a myth?

Speaker 3 (51:27):
Beth sound like the album Christmas from Hell to Snow
that was Crash Test Dummies did a Christmas album?

Speaker 8 (51:46):
Guys, these were sleeper hits the Crash Test Dummies, who
knew that they had so much success. Beyond Range was
the song that you mean?

Speaker 3 (51:56):
You mean hits that were performed while they were asleep.

Speaker 8 (52:00):
All right Beyond the That song was called right their
first hit.

Speaker 9 (52:06):
That's the name of the song.

Speaker 3 (52:13):
They're frightening? Really if you think they sounds? Is he
just off key intentionally all the time? You guys enjoying this?

Speaker 4 (52:25):
No?

Speaker 7 (52:25):
I could go all day?

Speaker 8 (52:27):
Did you download the whole album?

Speaker 9 (52:29):
Maybe?

Speaker 10 (52:31):
Dreaming of a White Chris.

Speaker 8 (52:35):
It's as if the Grinch is singing Christmas songs, isn't that?
Doesn't that sound like the Grinch?

Speaker 3 (52:41):
Very where the Frank Sinatra?

Speaker 8 (52:46):
It's quite the bass voice he has though.

Speaker 9 (52:52):
Sleigh bells in the snow?

Speaker 3 (52:54):
How about this? It just proves that there's a Christmas
album for everybody.

Speaker 9 (53:06):
This would have been perfect for a nightmare before Christmas.

Speaker 3 (53:08):
Yeah, it would nightmare on Elm Streets.

Speaker 8 (53:12):
Wasn't there a Peter Pumpkinhead in the Nightmare? We're pretty
sure was this name Peter Pumpkinhead?

Speaker 3 (53:16):
That was last segment.

Speaker 8 (53:18):
It was, but also a crash Test Dummies song.

Speaker 7 (53:22):
So we've had several people on the text line and say, hey,
crash Test Dummies, they have a Christmas album, And now
we have proof.

Speaker 8 (53:31):
CJ is the one who originally sent us the fact
that that the crash Test Dummies have the Christmas album.
She just texted back and said thank you. So funny.
She just wanted to surprise us.

Speaker 3 (53:42):
I think this is the most we've done for one
band's career since Toaster and Moose.

Speaker 7 (53:46):
By the way, there's Toasters and Moose news.

Speaker 3 (53:49):
I wasn't playing on doing. I had no idea.

Speaker 7 (53:51):
I just walked right, Oh, Jim, Jim didn't know this,
but Toasters and Moose. Actually, Beth turned me onto this.
Toasters and Mouth of Moose, of of Taste, the Biscuit
Fame has a new song, and.

Speaker 6 (54:01):
It will.

Speaker 5 (54:08):
Under the Sun.

Speaker 10 (54:10):
Tons of Bargains.

Speaker 5 (54:14):
Will Yeah times I go there just for the fun. Yeah.

Speaker 3 (54:18):
Is this not the same song that will?

Speaker 8 (54:21):
This is about goodwill? But and they released it on
Sunday for those of you who didn't know. August the
seventeenth was National Thrift Store Day and they released it
on National Thrift Story Day.

Speaker 9 (54:31):
I follow them and I did not see this, So
this is this is all new to me as well.
It's great taste the value.

Speaker 5 (54:36):
Yeah, take me till under the sun.

Speaker 3 (54:45):
They owned this genre.

Speaker 9 (54:47):
Say they've everything under the sun.

Speaker 6 (54:50):
They have.

Speaker 5 (54:51):
Sometimes I go there just for the fun.

Speaker 3 (54:54):
So there you go.

Speaker 7 (54:55):
Wow, I was wondering where we'd find fine room for that,
and Zochie didn't even know that.

Speaker 8 (54:59):
Was the Yes, still crack it out the work Toasters
and Moose releasing a new song on National Thrift Story Day,
all about the goodwill.

Speaker 6 (55:06):
Oh.

Speaker 7 (55:07):
I don't even know where to go from all of
this now.

Speaker 8 (55:10):
I think it's you know, a deep breath from the
Crash Test Dummies.

Speaker 6 (55:15):
Sounds of silence.

Speaker 7 (55:24):
First, No, hell, guys, it's a good time to remind
you that tomorrow we'll be bringing this contest back.

Speaker 3 (55:31):
I might have to maybe we'll just do all Crash
Test Dummies songs. I don't want them to be part
of what's going on at the amp.

Speaker 7 (55:37):
You know, if they ever came to Charlotte Crash Test Dummies,
we now know they're out there. Maybe we are going
to be part of their resurgence. But can you imagine
how the contest would go on the show if we
do name that song that we redo as as crash
test dummies.

Speaker 8 (55:49):
Like mummet oh, and then you guys could hummett. That's
such a fantastic idea. Now we are aware that was
it Russ who called who said that he thought the
crash test dummies were bearing the bare nacked ladies. They
are both Canadian bands.

Speaker 3 (56:07):
But that's where it ends. So was Brian Adams.

Speaker 18 (56:12):
He says, nothing, that's right, and I'll read the Franklin
for that matter.

Speaker 8 (56:16):
Michael Blo also Canadian, also Canadian, but.

Speaker 3 (56:19):
Seline Dione also also French, Canadian, Canadian.

Speaker 8 (56:25):
Alex Trebek was Canadian.

Speaker 3 (56:27):
Was he doesn't sing and he's not with us.

Speaker 9 (56:31):
Quite the rundown Jim, thank you will not be performing.

Speaker 7 (56:33):
At the end, he's He's exactly right. So I guess
another job for Ken Jennings, right, good morning? Oh wait
here come Steve. You got something there, Steve. So I

(56:54):
had two thoughts. First of all, I feel like if
I had no ego, I could totally be the front
man for this family.

Speaker 9 (57:04):
Who goes I could do that?

Speaker 3 (57:05):
Boys, Oh quite a humble.

Speaker 22 (57:09):
Anything that starts out with if I had no ego,
I just saying, as.

Speaker 3 (57:14):
Soon as I do have an ego.

Speaker 22 (57:18):
But if anybody wants to make a venture to Ontario
anytime in September, there are multiple crash tests on the
show in Ontario. Oh really in September and no, really,
just pulled a muscle.

Speaker 8 (57:32):
Oh man, We have gotten a lot of emails about that.
We've just got our text, I should say, we just
got a text from someone. And I want to know
this person's name because they send a lot of texts
and I love this person. But she or he said
I'm about to pee in my pants while I walk
my dog listening this morning.

Speaker 3 (57:51):
I think it's more for the dog than you. Yes,
all right, please make it stop. Eight thirteen. What who
said that?

Speaker 8 (57:59):
Someone said, please make it there's a place in skinnered.

Speaker 3 (58:02):
Yeah, where's your Kansas. It's gonna play some Boomer von
Cannon right now WBT breaking news.

Speaker 7 (58:07):
All right, the President of the United States is speaking
live right now with Fox and Friends on the Fox
News Channel. Of course, this after a monumental day at
the White House yesterday. He had some comments on truth
social last night, but this is the first extensive interview
that he has done anywhere. So we're going to join
a bit of that that began moments ago.

Speaker 12 (58:29):
Well, I think, really they have respect for our country. Again,
a year ago, they wouldn't have come, they wouldn't have
even thought about it. Now we've become the hottest country
anywhere in the world. Everybody wants to be here. When
I made the call, they came and they said, there's
really never been anything like it. You know, you'd have
one president or one prime minister, but there's never been,
you know, such a group. And these really represent the

(58:50):
European nations, these people, and they're very good people, and
they want to end the war, that horrible war with
Ukraine and Russia to horrible war, such a sense.

Speaker 23 (59:00):
Of unity, and we all enjoyed watching it because America
is on top, and it was on your turf, on
your terms. I know yesterday you talked about arranging a
meeting to take place in two weeks between Putin and Zelensky.
Is there an update there and do you plan to attend?

Speaker 12 (59:17):
No, I thought, I do. First, let him let them meet.
You know, they haven't been exactly best friends. I haven't
gotten along very well. And I called President Putin yesterday
and I do have a good relationship, but it only
matters if we get things done. Otherwise, I don't care
about the relationship. I do have a good relationship with them,
but I want to get things done. You know I've
gotten I've solved seven wars, we ended seven wars. I

(59:40):
thought this would be one of the easier ones, and
this has turned out to be the toughest one. India Pakistan.
I mean these were big ones, and also all big ones,
and some going for thirty one, thirty two years, one
for thirty five years, the Congo, think of that, the
Congo and Rwanda for thirty five years. I got that
one done, got I'm all done. But this one is

(01:00:01):
the one that is the most difficult, and I thought
it would be an easy one. So I hope President
Putin is going to be good, and if he's not,
it's going to be a rough situation. And I hope
that Zelensky, President Zelynsky will do what he has to do.
He has to show some flexibility. Also, the thing is
a mess. This was started by Joe Biden. This was

(01:00:24):
a war that should have never happened. Millions of people
are dead, the country's blown to pieces. Ukraine, and it's
a shame, you know, my wife wrote Blani wrote that
beautiful note to President puttnaback children. The children are devastated
to take it away from their homes, the whole thing.
And this is a war that would have never ever
ever happened if we had a president, a real president's fine.

Speaker 7 (01:00:48):
So this was this is going on Fox right now,
President Trump calling in to talk to the folks on
Fox News channel.

Speaker 6 (01:00:54):
Now.

Speaker 7 (01:00:55):
After the meeting yesterday at the White House where you
had all those various and leaders and U specifically uh
Vladimir's Lensky, who was their first and foremost to meet
with President from one on one before the rest of
the contingent was there. This is what Zelensky had to
say to reporters. We'll play a little bit of this,
and you're going to hear the interpreter at the same
time that you hear Zelenski. But this is Zelensky out

(01:01:17):
in front of the White House speaking to the press alone.

Speaker 3 (01:01:21):
And this was his take on what happened yesterday.

Speaker 15 (01:01:23):
Were coordinating how to work on security guarantees, and the
President of the US contacted the Russian and they spoke
diplomatic about the possible diplomatic Russia first bilateral meeting in

(01:01:49):
Ukraine and Russia follow at the level of leaders, at
the level resolve all those changeful issues, even for us
they are so I was by all the Europeans in

(01:02:12):
that meeting, and after that we are counting on a
trila depending on how.

Speaker 6 (01:02:22):
The mixture goes.

Speaker 8 (01:02:24):
So in principle that is the result.

Speaker 15 (01:02:27):
I believe it is a good one.

Speaker 20 (01:02:30):
It is a good result.

Speaker 1 (01:02:31):
Normal.

Speaker 3 (01:02:32):
So there is Zelenski yesterday.

Speaker 7 (01:02:34):
And one final piece of audio from last night Marco Rubio,
who has been sort of the mouthpiece for the administration
outside President Trump since Friday. He was the one that
appeared on multiple Sunday morning shows and then last night
with with Jesse Waters on Fox. Because there's been a
lot of talk about the meeting that happened yesterday, Beth,
and also the phone call that apparently interrupted the meeting,

(01:02:57):
where President Trump took a call and rather a lengthy
call with President Putin.

Speaker 8 (01:03:00):
Yes and one of the biggest things that happened yesterday
after this meeting is that Russia launched its largest attack
of the month of August on Ukraine after the Trump
Zelensky meeting, which some are wondering was that a sign
of defiance, What was the point of it? But he
also we've heard, we've heard Putin say that he's not

(01:03:21):
trying to attack civilians or civilian areas, and certainly not true.
In the attack that happened yesterday, launched some two hundred
and seventy drones, ten different missiles into Ukraine, one of
them hitting an apartment building, killing a one year old child.
At least seven or dead at this point, many many

(01:03:42):
more injured. And again, this all happened right after the
Trump Zolensky meeting. And what kind of signal is this
from Putin, especially given that he had a conversation on
the phone with President Trump yesterday.

Speaker 3 (01:03:56):
And to that point, here's Jesse Waters last night with Ruby.

Speaker 16 (01:03:59):
You in the room when the President talked to Vladimir Putin,
I was, I was in that conversation. You know what
came from it is that, you know, the President suggested
that Zelensky and Putin meet. So we're working on that
now to try to set that up for them to
meet somewhere, which again would be unprecedented, and then if
that goes well, hopefully the next meeting will be a

(01:04:19):
meeting between President's Putin, Trump and Zelensky where we hope
to find Liz a deal. We're not there yet, but
that's what we're aiming towards. And that's one of the
things that was discussed today is how to get to
that point. But just the fact that Putin is saying, sure,
I'll meet with Zolensky, that's a big deal. I mean,
I'm not saying they're going to leave that room best friends.
I'm not saying they're going to leave that room with
a peace deal. But I think the fact that people

(01:04:40):
are now talking to each other. This wasn't happening for
three and a half years. This was a stalemated war
of death and destruction. And let me tell you something,
this president hates war and he hates it. He thinks
it's a waste of money and a waste of lives,
and he has made it a priority. President Trump has
to bring about peace. If he sees an opportunity to
step in and broker a piece, he wants to do it.

Speaker 7 (01:05:01):
Secretary of State Marco Rubio last night on Fox So
get used to that word trilat. That that's the word
that was mentioned so many times yesterday by President Trump
and others trying to get a trilateral conversation between Zelenski,
Trump and Putin and namely Putin and Zelenski and Trump
will be the mediator there or the connector.

Speaker 3 (01:05:22):
If he is needed.

Speaker 7 (01:05:23):
But we'll see how this is all going to play
out over the next days and weeks. But you know,
no matter what you thought of yesterday, it was unprecedented
that you have that many people assembled in the White
House on such short notice like that.

Speaker 8 (01:05:37):
Yeah, they did it incredibly quickly. And we have mc
mulvaney on our show every Monday, a former White House
Chief of Staff under President Trump, and he echoes the
same thing that Marco Rubio said there that Donald Trump
absolutely hates war and wants to do whatever he can
to take steps toward ending wars that are happening all
over the globe.

Speaker 7 (01:05:56):
And you know, I played that clip there from President Zelensky,
which when you have the interpreter there at the same time,
it's tough, it's kind of crowded. But point being is,
we remember what the circumstances were the last time that
Zelensky was at the White House and how that ended.

Speaker 3 (01:06:12):
So yesterday quite a different scene.

Speaker 8 (01:06:14):
Well, and quickly you heard Donald Trump as he was
talking live on Fox in that interview we played at
the beginning of this segment mentioned the letter that Milania Trump,
the First Lady, wrote to Vladimir Putin about the children
from Ukraine who have been abducted, who have been taken
to Russia. That she sent this lovely letter, and Zelensky,
in a really smart move, at the beginning of his

(01:06:35):
meeting with Donald Trump, complimented the First Lady on that
letter and its effectiveness and the importance of that letter.
And I think that that softened the tone, and from
that point forward the conversation went much much better than
the one that we saw back in February.

Speaker 7 (01:06:51):
And the President complimented the fact that Zelensky was wearing
a suit this time. Well, it was actually well and
the reporter in the room and he said, that guy's
still wearing the same suit as last.

Speaker 8 (01:07:00):
Right, it was a reporter first. And Zelensky came back
pretty quickly.

Speaker 10 (01:07:03):
It's time for order up dirty restaurant Tuesday.

Speaker 8 (01:07:07):
There's a fly in my so could you do something
about it?

Speaker 3 (01:07:10):
And he's back.

Speaker 24 (01:07:12):
He's Mark Garrison. Greetings, dirty diners. I thought, before we
get to the dirty restaurants, how about a dirty motel
for your listening pleasure. This is the budget inn on
Old Interstate Road and eighty nine. They had broken dressers
in some rooms. They had stained mattresses.

Speaker 9 (01:07:34):
That always sounds good.

Speaker 24 (01:07:35):
Room two forty five the bathroom was dirty and in fact,
in some of some of these, send your mother in
law of a room to forty five.

Speaker 3 (01:07:47):
They also in.

Speaker 24 (01:07:50):
Some of the rooms had loose toilet seats, which kind
of reminded me of the old Paul Simon's sauces.

Speaker 25 (01:07:59):
You know, slip slip sitting on that seat, slip slide away.
They also had some dead bugs in some of the rooms,
so there you go. The budget in Old Interstate Road
didn't say what kind of bugs.

Speaker 3 (01:08:13):
And eighty nine two five bugs. I want to say,
Room two forty five, please all right?

Speaker 24 (01:08:21):
Some dirty food here, salserita cantina. Oh no, no, this
is the one on Ray Road and eighty eight point five.

Speaker 3 (01:08:31):
Oh you guys have eaten there.

Speaker 9 (01:08:32):
I'm sure, I'm sure.

Speaker 24 (01:08:33):
I The person in charge had no food safety training
and could not even answer questions about basic food safety.

Speaker 6 (01:08:42):
That's right.

Speaker 24 (01:08:43):
Employees properly improperly washing their hands. Another employee had cell
phone right there on the prep table. That's a germ spreader,
food not cooling properly, steak and chicken, and the chicken
in the warmer was not hot enough. And there was one,
count them, one dead cockroach the hand.

Speaker 3 (01:09:00):
Sing I'll give them one. I mean, I'll spot them one.

Speaker 9 (01:09:05):
I mean, yeah, it's one. Stick it under the door.

Speaker 3 (01:09:09):
I wonder if they had a loose toil. Let's eat.

Speaker 5 (01:09:10):
I don't know.

Speaker 3 (01:09:11):
I have to check that out.

Speaker 24 (01:09:12):
Sorcery to Cantina Railroad and eighty eight point five. Let's
see here, Tropical Smoothie on King's Drive.

Speaker 9 (01:09:21):
Oh, Beth's been there.

Speaker 8 (01:09:22):
I don't been to that one, but I have been
to Tropical Smoothie.

Speaker 24 (01:09:25):
Well, this one had an eighty nine. No one there
with any food safety training. That was a repeat violation.
Containers stored as clean were not. That was a repeat
and the inspector said, if this continues, we could suspend
your permit. Oh my god, this must have been some
dirty dishes.

Speaker 5 (01:09:42):
Wow.

Speaker 24 (01:09:43):
They might also get their permit suspended if they continue
to ignore putting dates on food.

Speaker 3 (01:09:48):
That's not happening.

Speaker 24 (01:09:50):
They had ko slaw, lettuce, and sausage, all of it
was out of date. And then the chicken and turkey
had no date at all, and they had excessive dried
food on a equipment.

Speaker 6 (01:10:00):
So there you go.

Speaker 3 (01:10:01):
Tropical smoothie Kings Drive eighty nine, not too smoothie, not
too smoothy, good one, Jim.

Speaker 24 (01:10:09):
How about the Dji Noodle bar in Noda and eighty
eight They agreed to close because all the food, all
the food and the cooler was just too warm and
the unit wasn't working. Curry, chicken, duck, thy slaw, pork
and more, all at the wrong temperature.

Speaker 3 (01:10:29):
Like brother April dougle I quit. Okay, I'm not doing
this anymore, so hopefully.

Speaker 24 (01:10:36):
They got their cooler working again. The person in charge
had no clue by the way, that the cooler wasn't working,
you know, never mind you stick your hand in there
and feel the meat's too warm.

Speaker 3 (01:10:47):
But okay, have we ever had Paris? They agreed to close.

Speaker 24 (01:10:54):
Yeah, if you have a cooler that's not working, you
may as well close because all the food's going to
get thrown out. The manager also so had idea, no idea. Rather,
the dish machine was not sanitizing dishes. Talk about a
clueless dude, right.

Speaker 3 (01:11:06):
There's an appliance issue there.

Speaker 24 (01:11:07):
Throughout the veggie slicer was stored as clean, but it
was dirty, had old food clunk or chunked on it.
They had to throw out the pork because it had
been cooling for hours and was still at the wrong temperature.
So Dji noodle bar in trendy nodah and eighty eight, No,
trendy noda.

Speaker 3 (01:11:27):
That's the year we have.

Speaker 24 (01:11:28):
I'm not sure how to pronounce this exactly. Sabai Asian
and Davidson. Oh no, oh, who's the woman that wrote
in said you're too happy?

Speaker 6 (01:11:38):
They are?

Speaker 3 (01:11:38):
If she can only hear you now old Dollytown.

Speaker 8 (01:11:41):
Dolly Dollytown, Tolly old Dollytown.

Speaker 24 (01:11:45):
Tell her to listen to WFAE. I don't really upset her,
Sabai in Davidson and eighty three. They also agreed to
close because they're cooler wasn't working.

Speaker 8 (01:11:57):
I've eaten there multiple times, and that is a sushi place,
so you don't have a cooler working for your sushi.

Speaker 24 (01:12:04):
Yep, food holding all at the wrong temperature, including their
sushi cooler. The inspector said, there is a lack of
management control here.

Speaker 3 (01:12:13):
Yeah, think nobody there with any food safety training.

Speaker 24 (01:12:18):
Ring the bell, there you go, there we go. Employees
did not know if you're sick, don't come to work mails.
They didn't know what symptoms to look for to stay
at home. Oh boy, an employee washed dirty hands, then
handled clean dishes without washing. Another employee was just drying
their hands on a dirty cloth. Oh and another one

(01:12:42):
was preparing sushi with their bare hands. Can't do that,
that's the hard so you get a good feel for it,
so you said an eighty two and eighty three point five.

Speaker 3 (01:12:54):
By the way, the egg rolls, lettuce, and the noodles
all had to be thrown out.

Speaker 24 (01:12:57):
There was no date on them. So that's Beth's happy spot.
The sabbai Asian and Davidson eighty three point five. I
got so many here, I don't think we have time.
Let me do one more, Dolly there, give some sushi.

Speaker 3 (01:13:11):
That's all right, Dolly, we got something.

Speaker 8 (01:13:13):
For you, hand rolled with some dirty fingers.

Speaker 12 (01:13:18):
No yum yum, all.

Speaker 24 (01:13:22):
Right, head coughs arer uh El taco vellows on North
Trion or El taco Velo, who knows?

Speaker 3 (01:13:29):
Eighty four.

Speaker 24 (01:13:30):
The inspector says, no management control here. The food's not dated.
They're handling food with bare hands into dish machines not working. Hey,
what else could go wrong?

Speaker 9 (01:13:39):
Right?

Speaker 24 (01:13:39):
The salsa was not cold. Apparently that cooler was not working.
They had raw chicken stored dripping into some Mexican stew.
And the inspector is going to come back once a
week now to make sure they will start putting dates
on their.

Speaker 9 (01:13:56):
Food like a probation officers.

Speaker 24 (01:13:58):
Yeah, coming back every week because they're not putting the
dates on the food at al Taco Vello, North Trian
and eighty four.

Speaker 3 (01:14:06):
Wow, So there you go.

Speaker 7 (01:14:09):
That just happens when you when you when you leave
for a week, you get all this stored back, reports
held up.

Speaker 3 (01:14:15):
Just remember the budget in when you sit on the toilet,
see slip slide. There you go, helps the move slid,
so to speak.

Speaker 7 (01:14:24):
I'm still thinking about they agreed to close.

Speaker 3 (01:14:28):
I'll just see myself out, all right, thank you.

Speaker 10 (01:14:31):
Mark, Yes, sir, this is good morning beat.

Speaker 7 (01:14:40):
All right, News Talk eleven ten WBT. Time to bring
in our good friend Breaking Brett Jensen from the Breaking
with Brett Jensen show every weeknight, six to seven o'clock
here on the Great Colossus.

Speaker 3 (01:14:51):
Good morning to you, Good morning all. What going on
to talk about today?

Speaker 7 (01:14:56):
But I think The first thing we got to start
with is the fact that another deputy of sheriff, Gary McFadden,
has submitted his resignation from the Mecklenburg County Sheriff's office. Now,
this happening yesterday, a rather scathing letter that Gary McFadden.
He's saying that Gary Fadden created a hostile work environment
through quote abusive and narcissistic behaviors unquote. What do you

(01:15:20):
know about this story? It's this is on the heels
of you know, Kevin Canty a year ago, and now
he has another deputy.

Speaker 26 (01:15:27):
Yeah, you know, And I totally had dismissed the one
with Kevin Canty because there were a lot of very
suspect things and a lot of things that.

Speaker 6 (01:15:33):
Happened afterwards and beforehand.

Speaker 26 (01:15:36):
That it was almost like I truly felt like it
was a setup and it just it just there were
a lot of things that didn't smell right, didn't pass
the smell test, as people like to say. But this
one's different, this one's this one's different, now, you know,
And he did he you know, you know, Chris Frollen
went in and Gary McFadden's number two, I mean, he's

(01:15:56):
the number two in charge. And he basically had a
lot of bad things to say about Gary McFadden and
saying that he was trying to use employees to work
against him and everything else. And you know, the only
thing that I questioned last night on the show was
I don't know why. What the motive is the moment
that you give it or send in your resignation letter

(01:16:17):
at the exact same moment, or you know, or moments
thereafter you're sending it out to the media.

Speaker 6 (01:16:22):
I wasn't quite sure of that.

Speaker 26 (01:16:24):
I'm still not quite sure if I was if I
was the reporter that got that, I would have said,
why are you giving me this? Like why are you
trying to make this go public? And if you are
trying to make it go public, will you do interviews?
And that's what I would have asked. So, But other
than that, I mean the letter itself, Like I said,
the first one with Kanty that was very suspect.

Speaker 6 (01:16:44):
This one, this one's different. This one, this one's got
a different ring to it well.

Speaker 8 (01:16:48):
And it points to the fact now that with two
of them, that it feels like there's something going on
there that makes it an uncomfortable working environment for at
least some people. And it does sound like to your point,
the question that you asked about, why send the letter
itself out to the media does sound like a revenge
of some sort against something or just trying to get

(01:17:10):
your name out there because you're planning on, you know,
public office down the road.

Speaker 6 (01:17:14):
See that's right there, that's it, right there.

Speaker 26 (01:17:18):
That's exactly what I had sort of thoughts, like, well,
you either want revenge because you hated the man so much,
or there's an alterior motive of possibly running for office
down the road. And so yeah, I thought the exact
same thing about to be brutally honest with I mean,
it was, and that's you know, as they say, great
minds think alike.

Speaker 6 (01:17:37):
But but yeah, that's that's truly what I thought on that.

Speaker 5 (01:17:41):
And but it is.

Speaker 26 (01:17:42):
But like I said, like the first one I threw
away just because there were a lot of suspect things
going on with.

Speaker 6 (01:17:46):
That particular hire in the fire and just there's a
lot of things that didn't smell right. But like I said,
this one's different.

Speaker 26 (01:17:53):
And look, and as someone told me yesterday, a high
ranking public officer excuse me up say deep safety person
person in the world of law enforcement told me yesterday,
people are gonna have Gary McFadden's having a bad day.
He'll have two or three bad days, and then by
next week everyone will forget about it. And they said,

(01:18:13):
that's the way things tend to go with Gary, no
matter what's going on, whether it's death at the jail,
or the state coming in or ice or whatever, it
just people seem to forget about it the following week.

Speaker 7 (01:18:25):
Well, it's chief Deputy Christopher Allen is the person who's
leaving this time around. Now, what about Gary McFadden, And
what about Gary McFadden running next go around? He has
not made anything official about his status yet, has he not?

Speaker 6 (01:18:40):
No, he has not.

Speaker 26 (01:18:41):
And I reached out to him and I spoke to
him about ten days ago. And when you had, you know,
the second crediator announced that they were going to run
and officially announced and it was his long time number
two that retired, Rodney Collins, who I've known him very
well for five or six years because he was McFadden's
number two. Well, you know, he retired, didn't resign, he

(01:19:01):
just retired, and now he's running for sheriff. And so
I asked him, you know, I asked sheriff McFadden if
he was going to run, and he said he had
not made up his mind yet. And a lot of
people don't know this, but McFadden's wife had been extremely
ill and was in the hospital I want to say,
like fifty four straight days without leaving, and a lot

(01:19:21):
of people were and the doctors weren't sure she was
there that actually survived due to an illness. And so
ten days ago McFadden said he had not made up
his mind whether or not he was going to run
or not. And I probably you know, at the time
ten days ago, put it about fifty to fifty whether
or not he was actually going to run or not,
just because of a lot of things going on with
his family life and stuff like that.

Speaker 7 (01:19:42):
Let's talk about a race that's closer to us, and
that would be the city council races coming up here
this year this weekend. I can tell you one thing.
In District six, all the christap Baccari signs went out,
and you had Sari Chakra on your show the other
night who was running in that primary. And I heard
that interview and I recommend it to anybody listening if
you want to get more of an idea of who

(01:20:03):
this guy is who's running against Krista Bakari. But what
about that race and what did you think of your
your talk with him? And obviously the signage now that
is kind of ramped up with Christa this weekend.

Speaker 26 (01:20:16):
Yeah, you know, Sarah's signs started going out late last
week and a day or so after Christa's signs started
going out, because I, you're right, I started seeing you know,
her signs that in that particular district just like started serious.

Speaker 6 (01:20:28):
Because Sarah even asked me last week, have you seen
my signs out?

Speaker 26 (01:20:31):
I said, honestly, I hadn't even been looking for them,
but then I started looking for him, and then I
was like, oh, there they are, there they are.

Speaker 6 (01:20:37):
Oh there's Christas. There's Christas. So yes, it's going to be.
I can tell you there were a lot of people in.

Speaker 26 (01:20:44):
The lot of ranking Republicans in Mecklamok County that like
that really likes Sarah.

Speaker 6 (01:20:49):
They really like Sarah.

Speaker 26 (01:20:50):
They don't know if he's going to have the wherewithal
to pull this one out just because of the name
recognition and maybe finances and stuff like this. Because this
is gonna you know, this is going to be you
know an expensive race. Don't forget Tarbacry. People may not
know this. Tarbacry last two years ago spent five hundred
thousand dollars to win by three hundred and fifty votes,

(01:21:11):
and Stephanie Hann spent seven or two hundred and fifty
thousand dollars. So it was the most expensive city council
race in North Carolina history. Three quarters of a million
dollars were spent. And so you know whether or not
a newcomer that's in his mid thirties can do that,
but you know, has a lot of people on his side.

Speaker 6 (01:21:30):
I don't know. I don't know if he has the
wherewithal financially to be able to pull that off.

Speaker 7 (01:21:33):
And then we'll have to talk about this another time.
But you know, a newcomer who's an old comer. You
can't look on social media right now and not see
Edwin Peacock with a new video. He's out there hitting
the streets and trying to return to a post that
hasn't had a Republican since he was there, and that
would be a Republican at large member in city council.
Your show tonight, six o'clock, what's coming up?

Speaker 6 (01:21:56):
Yeah, we've got a lot of things going on.

Speaker 26 (01:21:57):
I'm getting ready to head to the CMS Back to
School Press Conference and so so I've got that since
I hang up with you, I'll be hitting that way
and then so.

Speaker 6 (01:22:07):
We got that.

Speaker 26 (01:22:08):
And also I've got a person involved with Community Matters,
the big charity here in town that's going to be
joining on the show tonight as well.

Speaker 7 (01:22:16):
All right, Brett Jensen every weeknight, six o'clock Breaking with
Brett Jensen and for all the news in and around
the Charlotte area. Brett Underscore Jensen on X Good to.

Speaker 3 (01:22:25):
Talk to you man.

Speaker 6 (01:22:27):
Appreciate it, guys, thanks a lot.

Speaker 7 (01:22:28):
We have a final hour coming up here on Good
Morning BT.

Speaker 3 (01:22:31):
Where they're going with the food I'm starving. I only
had one broads.

Speaker 10 (01:22:35):
From News Talk eleven ten and ninety nine three w BT.

Speaker 5 (01:22:39):
It's a party planner service to twelve people.

Speaker 9 (01:22:41):
I know what I'm about.

Speaker 4 (01:22:42):
Son.

Speaker 10 (01:22:43):
This is Good Morning BET with Bo Thompson at Beth
trout Linz the.

Speaker 6 (01:22:47):
Studio that's where the magic happens. We've got to create
a verge.

Speaker 7 (01:22:54):
Final hour in full effect here Tuesday, August nineteenth, Bo
and Beth in the historic Ty Studio. Yeah, prank, that again.
So I was just thinking during the during the break,
we were talking about when you applied for jobs and
how you applied for jobs, and you know what's actually

(01:23:15):
a forgotten art in the world of applying for a job,
actually taking a piece of paper to the finish line.

Speaker 8 (01:23:23):
Oh, Bo Thompson, I am so glad that you bring
this up. In fact, there is now a movement because
of what they are calling all of the AI slop
slop slop, that's a term from the Business Insider, all
of the AI slop that's out there that you creates,
all of this chaos really for people applying for jobs

(01:23:47):
on message boards and on all of these websites and
job application apps, that there's a lot of AI slop
that you end up waiting through or that you get
lost in, and your resume never really even ends up
in front of the people who need to see it.
So now, according to Business Insider, they're saying you should
apply for a job like it's nineteen ninety nine, and

(01:24:09):
that means walking, physically walking a paper resume into an office,
physically taking an item into someone who is hiring, and
saying I would love to apply for this job face
to face time, and according to Business Insider, people who
are hiring are actually looking at these kinds of styles.

(01:24:32):
A subset of hiring is going old school, think paper resumes,
walk in applicants and even flying folks out to make
sure that they are the real deal, and doing interviews
face to face rather than via like zoom calls and
Google meetups or whatever.

Speaker 7 (01:24:48):
Well it makes sense though, right because so back when,
back when you and I were joining the workforce or
you know, finishing up school and you're starting to think
about it. Cohay, am I going to go about and
do this. The the thing used to be, how do
you make your resume stand out on a desk of
a manager where it's stacked like you know, sky high,

(01:25:09):
you know, And how do you prevent your resume or
even your letter. You prevent it from going into the
circular file without even being opened up.

Speaker 8 (01:25:17):
Right, you know, prevent it from getting lost in the
shuffle somewhere.

Speaker 7 (01:25:20):
But what you're saying now is, and what this is saying,
is if you actually go to the trouble to take
a paper resume to somebody, it's going to stand out
on a supervisor's desk, because these days they're not going
to have much paper at all.

Speaker 8 (01:25:35):
Well, one of the people that they interviewed that inside
the business Insider interviewed said that they knew what company
they wanted to work for, but online there were no
job listings. So the person took it upon himself to
physically walk into the building. Turns out they actually were
looking for workers. They were looking for employees, and the

(01:25:55):
fact that this person took the initiative to walk in
and say, I would love to work here, here's my resume,
let's set up a time to meet it showed that,
you know, it wasn't just somebody, because a lot of people. Now,
when you go online to apply, you have to fill
out all of these forms and you end up applying
for forty seven jobs at one time, hoping that something

(01:26:16):
sticks that you get at least one call back. And
so these experts are saying that if you take the
initiative and apply like it's nineteen ninety nine, with a
physical presence and a physical piece of paper, that you're
more likely to at least get that face to face
interview and at least set yourself apart from all of
what they call the AI slop.

Speaker 3 (01:26:36):
Yeah, the AI slop or you know the portal. Everyplace
has got a portal.

Speaker 7 (01:26:40):
You get up uploaded into the portal. That's the way
the kids do all the schoolwork these days.

Speaker 8 (01:26:44):
I can't even imagine the first the first job that
I applied for right out, right after graduating from Carolina.
It was the West Wing and I physically first called
their production office to see you.

Speaker 3 (01:26:56):
Walked right into Toby and said, I want to join
this cast.

Speaker 8 (01:26:59):
I want to on this show. I physically called the
production office, asked if they were hiring, asked who I
needed to get my resume too, had a conversation on
the phone. And then this was back in the day
you couldn't get onto the Warner Brothers lot without security clearance.
But I bought a fax machine at Staples.

Speaker 27 (01:27:18):
I bought this at Staples just to print this out
to send you. I believe in America. I'm Beth Troutman,
and I want to join your show.

Speaker 3 (01:27:28):
Thank you, President Bartlett. I'll see my way out. You
know what is that how it went?

Speaker 8 (01:27:33):
They hired me? Yeah, it went just like that.

Speaker 9 (01:27:37):
Did you have a cover letter, Beth?

Speaker 8 (01:27:39):
I did, And in fact, the cover letter is what
got me the interview, because the woman who was hiring.
Happened to be standing at the fax machine when my
resume came through, and she said she called me because
I didn't have any grammatical errors in my cover letter.

Speaker 9 (01:27:52):
I hate a cover letter. I think it's so useless.

Speaker 7 (01:27:56):
I can see that whole thing playing out, and I did.

Speaker 8 (01:27:59):
Everybody was in line for the interview in like jeans
and sweatpants, and I had on a little white business suit.

Speaker 10 (01:28:05):
I dressed up for this.

Speaker 8 (01:28:07):
I don't paintyhose, paintyhose and high heels, a little briefcase.

Speaker 3 (01:28:13):
I wrote this in my pen that I've had for
thirteen years.

Speaker 7 (01:28:17):
My quill, my quill.

Speaker 8 (01:28:22):
Yeah, that's kind of how it went.

Speaker 7 (01:28:23):
Yeah, I have no doubt it's out went. I mean,
like I probably didn't embellish it enough. Right, and look
at you now. I'm gonna be in radio news Talk
eleven to ten, wat traffic check right now. The West
Wing will return in a moment. Here's Boomer Van Cannon
well played, Beth Well play.

Speaker 8 (01:28:41):
You just gotta you know what, you just gotta just
gotta put it out there sometimes, you know, if you
really want something, you gotta let them know.

Speaker 24 (01:28:47):
Boomer, right, I'll be like the late Great Jackie Wilson,
walk that walk, talk that talk.

Speaker 3 (01:28:52):
Hey, hey, hey Boomer, you want some You want some to.

Speaker 9 (01:28:57):
Right here?

Speaker 26 (01:29:00):
Right?

Speaker 3 (01:29:02):
Good morning?

Speaker 9 (01:29:03):
Yes that too, I can do that too.

Speaker 11 (01:29:04):
Where do you go?

Speaker 3 (01:29:05):
Good morning? One more? One more, let's complete the trip
back to the trilat.

Speaker 6 (01:29:10):
Yes there.

Speaker 3 (01:29:13):
I love you guys.

Speaker 12 (01:29:14):
You guys make full morning.

Speaker 7 (01:29:15):
I love driving in I Sometimes I take the back
road so I can go a little bit longer so
I can hear y'all more.

Speaker 8 (01:29:21):
Oh, that's the sweetest thing I've ever heard.

Speaker 3 (01:29:24):
Hey, boss, I've been driving all day.

Speaker 10 (01:29:28):
I'm sorry out.

Speaker 7 (01:29:28):
I'm supposed to be there at seven, but it's eleven,
so I'm just gonna go ahead.

Speaker 2 (01:29:31):
And break for lunch.

Speaker 7 (01:29:32):
Hey, look, just just blame Bow and Beth and we'll
fix it for you.

Speaker 3 (01:29:36):
Get the right met excuse?

Speaker 9 (01:29:37):
Can you all do that for yah?

Speaker 5 (01:29:38):
Oh?

Speaker 3 (01:29:38):
Absolutely, gonna be a slacker for the rest of your life.

Speaker 10 (01:29:41):
This is Good Morning Beat with Boat Hudson and Beth
Trout Ben Pure Energy.

Speaker 7 (01:29:52):
Alright nine twenty two on WBT, talking about we've forgotten
lost art of well printing out a resume on paper
and then actually taking it to the finish line yourself.

Speaker 8 (01:30:08):
You could pull a Reese Witherspoon. I forgot the character's
name from Legally Blonde, Elle Woods, Elle Woods, and uh,
you know, have scented paper help your help your resume
stand out.

Speaker 3 (01:30:20):
I never saw that movie what Legally Blonde.

Speaker 8 (01:30:23):
Never saw it, never seen him.

Speaker 7 (01:30:25):
I know what it is, but I I couldn't. If
you said, who's stars in that movie, I'd say Reese Witherspoon.
But I never watched the movie.

Speaker 8 (01:30:30):
Oh it's it's actually a great movie.

Speaker 7 (01:30:32):
Another movie that with her called Election. I never saw
that either, the one with Matthew Broderick and her.

Speaker 8 (01:30:37):
Where she's in high school.

Speaker 3 (01:30:38):
I think that's what it was.

Speaker 7 (01:30:39):
But there's a bunch of movies that came out during
that era that I knew what they were, but I
just said, not not going to watch it.

Speaker 8 (01:30:44):
Oh, you need to go back and watch You need
to watch Legally Legallylore's pretty fun. Yeah, you'll you'll enjoy it.

Speaker 7 (01:30:50):
Well, good, I'll check that out.

Speaker 3 (01:30:54):
Sorry anyway, So.

Speaker 8 (01:30:56):
Paper resume is a good thing to actually do. Thanks, Thanks,
good talk for us. I'm saying they're saying that if
you are out there in the job market, if you
are looking for a job, that maybe now more than ever,
avoid going to the the AI slop portal and just
filling out all of the forms and applying online and

(01:31:16):
getting your resume or your even your application just lost
in the digital mess, and instead find the company you
want to work for physically walk in the door and
take a paper resume with you and set up an
interview that way to show initiative. Kirk Kirk is a
deep cut listener of Good Morning BT and we appreciate Kirk.

(01:31:36):
He sent us a message to seven oh four five,
seven oh eleven ten. He said, so when your mother
goes with you to the interview, she can hand them
the paper resume. And Kirk a deep listener because he
was replying about a story we talked about last week
about how gen Zer's seventy four percent of them take
their parents with them at least apparent with them to
a job interview.

Speaker 3 (01:31:57):
Kirk, this goes out to you, you deep cut listen.

Speaker 8 (01:32:04):
But here's the thing. Here's the thing, and this I
absolutely absolutely love that kind of juxtaposes with this story
about paper resumes and actually applying like it's the late
nineteen hundreds. CNBC talked to a CEO about what it
is he's looking for when hiring. So if you physically
take that resume in answer this question, because apparently it's

(01:32:29):
a great way to tell you if you're going to
be a great way for someone who's hiring to tell
if you're going to be a good employee or a
bad employee. And I want you to answer this, Bo,
what gives you energy and what takes it away? Apparently
apparently framing and answering that question will show somebody what
kind of employee you're going to be and what kind

(01:32:50):
of red flags to look for. So what gives you energy?
What takes your energy away?

Speaker 7 (01:32:57):
Wow, you're putting me on the spot. Like I my
first answered that question is I could answer it and
say there are people I could list for you. I
won't on a fifty thousand watt radio station, but there
are people that I can interact with that give me energy.
Beth Troutman gives me energy.

Speaker 8 (01:33:10):
I was gonna say the exact same thing if if
you had ask me coming into this whenever they were
bringing me into the show. What gives you energy? Bo Thompson,
what takes your energy away? Weird processes don't make me
fill out a lot of paperwork, but you know, what
really takes my energy away? Thumbs like I mean, not
like actual thumbs. I said that wrong. I needed more words.

(01:33:34):
Somebody puts their thumb on you. You know, if somebody
like puts their thumb on you and tries to control
you or hold you down or put you in a
tiny little box metaphorically metaphorical thumbs, that zaps my energy
like nothing else. If somebody tries to to to box
me box it's.

Speaker 9 (01:33:51):
Like Probaganda from Big Dog Bit thumb not offense.

Speaker 3 (01:33:56):
Well, I mean I was gonna say, like people in
this room.

Speaker 7 (01:33:58):
Obviously, as we've built this show, I've surrounded myself with
people who I believe help lift this thing off the ground,
all of us and this is the team. So obviously,
you guys give me, give me energy. You know, I
think all of us can think of people who don't
give you energy and sapid people.

Speaker 8 (01:34:16):
Who are the like energy sucks the succubises, succubuses.

Speaker 7 (01:34:19):
M That's another word that we've introduced to the lexicon.
Syoth suck you by.

Speaker 8 (01:34:27):
I suck you by, as Steve is telling me, is
the plural of succubis.

Speaker 7 (01:34:32):
So yeah, I mean to me, it's really it really
comes down to people, because I can think of places
where I am which really are just places until you
get people who infuse you with the energy and wanting
to be there.

Speaker 8 (01:34:42):
Well, there was a there. I was offered a job
a few years ago that was a really really great,
great job. But when I asked the question, and I
kind of asked this question because I know what sucks
my energy away, And I asked what how much of
it was going to be face to face like fun
communication with people, and how much of it was going

(01:35:02):
to be processes? And they told me that sixty percent
of it was going to be paperwork.

Speaker 9 (01:35:05):
And I was like, nope, nope, it's a terrible job.

Speaker 5 (01:35:10):
Right.

Speaker 8 (01:35:10):
So anything that puts limitations on me or like zaps
my time away and makes me waste time, that that
that that's what sucks my energy.

Speaker 7 (01:35:19):
Processes or if somebody says processes, processes, just kind of
know to walk the other way.

Speaker 8 (01:35:24):
Yeah, yeah, don't give me a pile of paperwork.

Speaker 3 (01:35:26):
We don't have time for processes. Today.

Speaker 7 (01:35:28):
When we come back, we're going to talk to some
people who definitely give us energy. They give the most
energy maybe that I've ever seen collectively, and it's our
friends at Narroway Production.

Speaker 8 (01:35:38):
They have a big event coming up and we're going
to tell you all about.

Speaker 7 (01:35:41):
It on DOBBT Home Stretch on a Tuesday morning with
both Thompson and Beth Troutman.

Speaker 8 (01:35:57):
Hello.

Speaker 3 (01:35:58):
Hi, we have two people on the WWT.

Speaker 7 (01:36:01):
Hotline right now, very important people, because you have an
important event to tell you about coming up.

Speaker 8 (01:36:06):
I'm so excited about this event. It's called Narroway on
the Fairway. You have heard me talking endlessly for the
last few months about Narroway, the Broadway of Christian Entertainment. Well,
they have a huge fund raising event called Narroway on
the Fairway September fifteenth, that's of this year at Carolina
Lakes Golf Club that's in Indian Land, South Carolina. And

(01:36:27):
we have two special guests here to tell us all
about it and about how you can get involved. We
have Alisia Hutchins, she's the operation manager and the golf
committee chair. We also have Angelina Steele from Narroway joining us.
Good morning, ladies, Good morning, morning, good morning. We are
so excited to have you and how cool that you

(01:36:48):
guys do this every single year and have a good
old time on the fairway and help raise money to
keep what you're doing going.

Speaker 19 (01:36:58):
Yes, absolutely, Yeah. We always have such a blast. We
have a huge turnout and people have such a great
time really supporting a great mission and ministry. And I
tell people, did you know that you could serve the
Lord through golf.

Speaker 12 (01:37:15):
A good time? See?

Speaker 8 (01:37:16):
And that's what I really love about it. I don't
think people realize how incredible your organization is now Narroway Productions.
You guys put on these beautiful, family friendly dinner shows.
So many of the people who are in the cast,
super talented volunteers, and you all throughout the year have
to find ways to make sure that you can keep

(01:37:37):
this ministry going. And this is one of the biggest
fundraisers for your organization every year, right, Yeah, it is.

Speaker 19 (01:37:46):
There are a lot of things that we do throughout
the year to really drive forwards the mission Narway, but
this is really one of the biggest fundraisers that we
do throughout the year.

Speaker 7 (01:37:57):
I went to See and Got No Men a few
months ago with Beth as first time I'd ever been
to Narraway and I grew up around here, and I
came out of that saying, Wow, more people need to
know about Narroway. That was incredible, And now I sort
of understand why you need events like this to be
able to do what you all do year round, because
I know you have the gospel according to Tennessee, which

(01:38:18):
Beth just went to, and and obviously the shows that
will come later this year. But it's a it's an
incredible group and it's a but it's a big undertaking.
And so these are the types of events that you
have to do to be able to keep something like
that going for as long as you.

Speaker 28 (01:38:30):
Have for sure, for sure, because we have you know,
obviously shows every weekend just about throughout the year to
keep us doing what we're doing, but even beyond just
what we do on the weekend, Narroways vision long term
is so big. We have big dreams, a big vision,
and so it takes more than just doing shows every

(01:38:53):
weekend to keep us going and to catapult us where
we want to be, because we don't want to stay stagnant.
We want to keep our edge and keep on top
of the latest and greatest technologies and special effects and
facility upgrades and things like that, and so it really
does take special events like this golf tournament to help
keeping us pushing forward like we want to and shooting

(01:39:16):
for the stars and just getting bigger and bigger and
increasing our footprint and our capacity and just the vision
that God has given us.

Speaker 8 (01:39:25):
So Alicia, tell folks if people are listening right now
and they are moved by this, this idea of helping
you all grow your vision and continue your ministry, continue
with your family friendly Christian shows, original shows. Tell folks
how they can be involved. I know that you need
corporate sponsors, but people can also join as foursomes and
be on the team and just be part of this

(01:39:47):
fun event.

Speaker 19 (01:39:49):
Absolutely, so it's really easy. If you go to Narrowaygolf
dot com, that'll take you to our web page and
that'll show you all of our sponsor opportunities. Like you said,
we do need corporate sponsors, there are also people who
sponsor in honor or memory of a loved one. I
know every year our director's sponsor Whole eighteen in honor

(01:40:11):
of Yvonne Clark's dad who was an avid golfer. And
so corporate personal sponsors, but also to register to play,
you go to that same website and that gives you
all of the information the tournament format, how to register,
prices all of.

Speaker 7 (01:40:26):
Those things well, and just like going to a Narroway show,
is the show, but it's also you have the option
you can eat there. They have all the stuff that
comes with it. This is a golf tournament that's about
the golf, but it's also about the day. You know,
breakfast available, you've got dinner, you've got raffling, you've got prizes.
So when you participate in this, it's kind of the
whole package deal.

Speaker 6 (01:40:47):
For sure.

Speaker 28 (01:40:47):
This golf tournament is another Narroway production there it is.

Speaker 3 (01:40:52):
That's perfect.

Speaker 7 (01:40:53):
Doesn't mean when you drive up to the ninth hole
they could come out and entertain you in song?

Speaker 3 (01:40:58):
Is that right?

Speaker 28 (01:40:59):
No, I'm start deny nor confirm that.

Speaker 7 (01:41:02):
Okay, Well see that's actually the perfect answer.

Speaker 19 (01:41:08):
Just like Angelina said, anything that nearby does. It truly
is a production. And we have gotten so many comments
over the years that there has never been another golf
tournament fundraiser like this that people have been to. The
food is absolutely delicious. Our head chefs and our team
prepare the lunch. Chick fil A always donates the breakfast,

(01:41:29):
so you have a great chicken sanwich to come to.
But we have great price is great fun and a
great time.

Speaker 8 (01:41:36):
So let's tell folks again when this is and again
how they can register and is there an entry fee?
And do you need how many foursomes do you still
need for people to participate?

Speaker 3 (01:41:48):
Right?

Speaker 19 (01:41:49):
So, right now, the price is only one hundred and
twenty five dollars per player, and that is the lowest
price that it's been since we've started this fundraiser. And
then we have face for oh have about twenty six
more for.

Speaker 8 (01:42:06):
The okay, So people need to get onto this website,
Narroway Golf dot com and register because you're about to
run out of spots.

Speaker 19 (01:42:13):
Yes, exactly.

Speaker 7 (01:42:15):
Well, this is great and it's coming fast. We're under
a month now until the actual event itself. But if
you go to Narrowaygolf dot com you'll see all the
information and again, anything else we need to relay and
we'll keep talking about it as we get closer. But
we want to try to get you guys sold out there,
yeah or for sure, So.

Speaker 28 (01:42:34):
Sign up for golf, come see the gospel according to Tennessee,
you know, just just be here being houseye what we're doing.

Speaker 8 (01:42:42):
Well, thank you ladies so so much for joining us,
And I want to say to folks again. Go to
Narroway Golf dot com. You can register to play. You
can also find out how to become a corporate sponsor
for this event. It's a really fun event. And you Bo,
you can tell these are my people. They randomly break
out into songs on golf course.

Speaker 19 (01:43:00):
Yes, listen, you never know what you're going to see
on the golf course.

Speaker 7 (01:43:03):
Well, look, Alicia and Angelina, we appreciate you coming on
with us, and we love what you all do down
there and hope to see you soon.

Speaker 28 (01:43:11):
Oh well, thank you so much for having us.

Speaker 7 (01:43:14):
Thank you, thank you, good luck. Tell everybody we said hello.
And Narrowway Golf dot com is where you find all
the details.

Speaker 8 (01:43:20):
And if you're interested in seeing, like Bo was saying,
their current show is the Gospel according to Tennessee, that's
at Nearway dot net. You can buy tickets Primo code Beth.

Speaker 10 (01:43:29):
This is good Morning BET.

Speaker 7 (01:43:33):
News Talk eleven ten, nine to nine and three WBT
BO Thompson, Beth trouping back at it here and I
was trying to get that to roll. There we go, Boom,
sherlocklock boom.

Speaker 9 (01:43:43):
Folks, SI this family.

Speaker 29 (01:43:48):
Plane it crumbled, but super Manny of Fasty i'mself to Carrie,
Oh good crip him, keep going.

Speaker 7 (01:44:02):
A song recommended to us today one of our listeners.

Speaker 3 (01:44:05):
Steam made in moody scene.

Speaker 7 (01:44:12):
From U.

Speaker 3 (01:44:15):
Listen to those lyrics.

Speaker 29 (01:44:17):
Sometimes I've just spilled the world Bolz.

Speaker 9 (01:44:21):
You guys seem forgetting Sarah Marshall when he does that
rock op the Opera at the end, it's kind of
what it sounds like a little bit too like the Dracula.

Speaker 8 (01:44:29):
Dracula is king.

Speaker 7 (01:44:32):
So we've been on a crash Test Dummies fixed today
because we gave away tickets and we're going to continue
to give away tickets to Toad the Wet Sprocket, Toe
the Wet Sprocket and sixpence None the Richer at the
Good Intentions twenty twenty five tour Saturday Night at the
Amp Valentine.

Speaker 3 (01:44:49):
But we started giving away tickets. We'll do some more tomorrow.
And you know how we do this.

Speaker 7 (01:44:53):
We ask you to name that nineties band with a
weird name.

Speaker 8 (01:44:57):
Sometimes was, which is how we spent a good portion
of our show today on the crash Test Dummies.

Speaker 3 (01:45:05):
With the song that everybody knows.

Speaker 7 (01:45:08):
That song and then out of the woodwork we get
textures that tell us about the eighteen other songs that
are out there, plus a Christmas album.

Speaker 8 (01:45:15):
For whatever reason, the crash test dummies blew up our
text line today.

Speaker 7 (01:45:20):
We're gonna do it again tomorrow and again. It could
be anything.

Speaker 3 (01:45:23):
It could be this my machine is.

Speaker 7 (01:45:25):
Not working today, Barnie. I don't know what's going on.
I'm gonna have to recalibrate here. Let me try that again.

Speaker 3 (01:45:29):
It could be this.

Speaker 5 (01:45:32):
Stump outside and not take a tip. Then I can't
stay from the top of my lungs.

Speaker 7 (01:45:41):
Boy nineteen ninety three, the summer, Damn, you could not
escape the song.

Speaker 8 (01:45:48):
My friend Andrew and I used to drive around in
my hatch back Honda Civic singing this song at the top.

Speaker 7 (01:45:55):
Of our lungs.

Speaker 5 (01:45:57):
In on them.

Speaker 8 (01:46:00):
And if you really can sing it in around.

Speaker 7 (01:46:02):
Actually because you probably have, Yeah, I have. It's lots
of fun, you know, real quick before we get out
of here. I did not have time to mention this
today until now. But last night on ESPN, if you
were watching Monday night football and you watched after the game,
something happened for the first time in decades.

Speaker 3 (01:46:23):
It's about throwing a whole bunch at you while having
an old school good time saxophone.

Speaker 8 (01:46:29):
So stay tuned and don't flip out sports It's next.

Speaker 7 (01:46:43):
Hey saying this for the first time in twenty two years.

Speaker 6 (01:46:47):
Welcome to Sports Center alongside all of you. I am
Rich Awsome coming up with Paul Schemes. Takes some top
team in the America.

Speaker 3 (01:46:54):
We're talking about all these nineties songs.

Speaker 7 (01:46:57):
But just playing that right there, that takes me back
to watching Sports Center with Stuart Scott and rich ice
And back in the nineties. And rich Iceon left ESPN
and went to be the face and the launch of
NFL Network when they launched that several decades ago. And
now rich Iceon is back at ESPN now that ESPN,
you know, has acquired NFL Network, and now rich Iceon

(01:47:17):
has a radio show that they're going to carry on
their national affiliates in the mid days. But rich Iceon,
in order to promote his return to ESPN last night,
did the Sports Center after the Monday Monday night football
game for the first time. And like you said, twenty
two years so that.

Speaker 8 (01:47:31):
Must have been such a feeling for him to suddenly
be sitting at that desk and to say those words again,
it would be kind of like Barbara Walters coming back
and saying, this is twenty twenty.

Speaker 9 (01:47:42):
Yeah, I got goosebumps when you played that both.

Speaker 8 (01:47:44):
Yeah, I don't even know who he is, and I
kind of got ye, I got goosebumps for it.

Speaker 3 (01:47:49):
For him.

Speaker 7 (01:47:50):
You never well you would, you would have been you
were at Chapel Hill then thereabouts.

Speaker 8 (01:47:54):
Weren't you in the early twenty two years ago?

Speaker 3 (01:47:56):
You were in high school?

Speaker 7 (01:47:57):
Then high school?

Speaker 8 (01:47:58):
No, gosh, twenty two years ago.

Speaker 7 (01:47:59):
I was no, No, in nineteen ninety, nineteen ninety three
or four.

Speaker 8 (01:48:03):
Oh, I was in high school then.

Speaker 7 (01:48:05):
Yes, yeah, So I think of rich Ice in I
don't know he left, I guess when you're talking about there.
But as he said, but when I think of rich Icon,
I think of he and Stuart Scott, like in the
mid to late nineties.

Speaker 8 (01:48:17):
Yes, that's exactly, because.

Speaker 7 (01:48:18):
The open they played last night was I remember being
in college watching that on TV.

Speaker 3 (01:48:23):
So it was right about the era of well.

Speaker 17 (01:48:29):
This ante the wet Sprocket, that's right, So tomorrow is
that a wet Sprocket.

Speaker 2 (01:48:40):
I hear.

Speaker 8 (01:48:41):
What sounds like a few of.

Speaker 3 (01:48:43):
Him in there, So I'm sorry real quick. Can you
just do me a huge favorite?

Speaker 6 (01:48:47):
Can you?

Speaker 7 (01:48:48):
Can you say Rich's last name one more time?

Speaker 3 (01:48:51):
Rich Isaen Okay, I don't know you were stretching the
s a little bit those first couple of times. I
just wanted to make sure it wasn't Rich. Ice of him.
