Speaker 5 (00:37):
Me whateveryone makes because and it's not too wrong.

Speaker 2 (00:52):
Well, you could have chosen a Kelly Clarkson song. There
was a little more upbeat.

Speaker 5 (00:56):
Yeah, guys, I wish I had control over this spongey
thing inside of my head. It's spongy, right your brain, smile,
don't touch it.

Speaker 2 (01:07):
I've never actually seen it. You're new to the show.
Good Morning VT. Every morning Beth wakes up to a song.
It is one of her superpowers.

Speaker 5 (01:18):
Always singing. Oh and I have to say good morning
to Tristan, a little young man that we met at
the bike drive on Friday night. He listens in the
morning to hear the song of the day. I think
he was midnine. I think his Dad sold me, but
I just wanted to give him a hug, So I'm
hugging him through the radio this morning.

Speaker 2 (01:37):
So Tristan, go take on the day. Oh, we had
a great time on Friday night. I'm glad you mentioned
that eight hundred plus bikes collected here at one Julian
Price Place. We will talk to John Hancock and Hayley
and Brent Sanders coming up in the eight o'clock hour,

(01:57):
who are all part of this on Friday night, and
of you as well. I mean, I was the weather was,
it was cold, and it was not exactly comfortable, but
people turned out and not that I'm surprised, but I'm happy.

Speaker 5 (02:11):
It was remarkable.

Speaker 2 (02:12):
So I'll play a happy song.

Speaker 5 (02:18):
I came in. I was like, I've got kind of
a wah wah of a song. I was even surprised
when I woke up singing this because I haven't heard
it in a while.

Speaker 2 (02:26):
Well, I mean, like I said, you could have chosen
something celebratory because coming up at seven oh five today
one of the biggest announcements in the history of this
radio station. Our general manager Marshall Landis will be in studio.
Also program director Mike Schaeffer to join us to help you,
to help bring you that news. But seven oh five
this morning, I hope you will be near your radio.

(02:46):
Just don't go anywhere. If you're there now, stay yeah,
and we will tell you all the news we have
to tell you because it's a big deal. So that's
coming up in about an hour here on News Talk
eleven ten WBT, we have the the playoffs are set
in college football. The Carolina Panthers are, as Jim said,
number one for now. Now an interesting turn of events.

(03:09):
You know, Tampa Bay plays again before we play, because
Tampa Bay plays Atlanta on Thursday night and the Panthers
play on Sunday, so it's gonna be an interesting week.
But right now, Tampa Bay lost yesterday, and so the
Panthers and the Saints and the Bucks rather are tied
at the top of the of the NFC South.

Speaker 7 (03:27):
Most recent time we were tied for first. It's for
twenty minutes because the way the Bucks and the Panthers
games went a couple of weeks ago. But they hey,
you got seven and six, you got four games to go.
That New Orleans game is not looking so easy anymore either.
After they beat Tampa Bay because now you have to
go down there and play New Orleans, which beat us earlier,
of course, so that is no give me obviously going

(03:48):
down there.

Speaker 5 (03:48):
Well, guys, you know that I follow lots of sports
social media accounts. There was the guy over the weekend.

Speaker 2 (03:55):
I called a lot of sports social media comes.

Speaker 5 (03:58):
There was a guy over the weekend and this made
me laugh out loud, and I stuck it in my
memory bank so that I can tell you this. Jim Zochie,
he is predicting that the Carolina Panthers are going to
go to the Super Bowl. But let me tell you
his predictors. The two other times that the Panthers have
been in the Super Bowl, Ohio State had won the
National championship that year or the year before, and Jennifer

(04:22):
Lopez had also filed for divorce in that same year.
And that both of those.

Speaker 2 (04:28):
Things we're contingent on Ohio State.

Speaker 5 (04:30):
Now, both of those things, both of those things, no
Cony won last year.

Speaker 2 (04:35):
It's already happened.

Speaker 5 (04:36):
That one's already happened.

Speaker 8 (04:38):
Panthers last Domino to.

Speaker 5 (04:40):
Fall here, So yeah, that that one's already happened. Jennifer
Lopez filed for divorce this year for ben Affleck. So
those two things.

Speaker 2 (04:47):
Have happened, but she was divorced like every other year.

Speaker 5 (04:49):
Yeah, but still it's all. It's all, but it's the
same year that Ohio State.

Speaker 2 (04:53):
She's saying, there's a chance.

Speaker 5 (04:55):
Guys, these are the predictors that this particular social media
fell up was using to say, the Panthers we're going
to be in the Super Bowl.

Speaker 2 (05:03):
And I bet you're not thinking what I'm thinking right now.
What we also have to find room for today and
this is a jam packed show today. Let me tell you, okay,
but we have something today that we do. It's that day. Okay,
you're not thinking of it, name that fake college bowl game.

Speaker 5 (05:22):
It's today.

Speaker 2 (05:24):
Today's to day. They announced they announced all the college
bowl games, and we're going to find out how much
you know about real and fake college bowls. There are
some real ones that you are going to think forever.
I keep renamed them every year.

Speaker 5 (05:36):
For the rest of my life. I'm going to think
the Velociraptor Candy Bowl is in real bowl.

Speaker 2 (05:40):
Well, and I was listening to you go through some
of the notable bowl games of teams around here of interest,
and even if Beth heard that the ones that I'm
I'm examining and using in my list, you didn't give
the given away. So I think we're good.

Speaker 5 (05:55):
I'm super excited about that, and it may not matter.
Oh and guys, I have a fantastic story to tell.
Yes about the Carolina Ascent we won on Saturday.

Speaker 2 (06:07):
I think we have to do this next. We have
to do this next. She told me this yesterday. I
thought of all the Beth Troutman stories I've heard, that
is one of them.

Speaker 3 (06:16):
All Right, this is good Morning Beatty.

Speaker 2 (06:25):
Alone six eighteen on News Talk eleven ten nine nine
three WBT. It is Monday, December eighth, in the historic
Ty Boyd Studio, Bo Thompson, Beth Troutman, the Zoke, the Bernie,
the Steve. Why so not the Beth of the Boat,

(06:49):
the Beth and the Beau we go, well, actually the
bow and the Singer. So you guys know that Beth
is a Swiss army knife right like. She's the PA
announcer for the Carolina Ascent. She's a co host of
this show. She's a documentary producer. She's been on television,
she's been Miss Carowins, but now now not you're embarrassing her.

(07:14):
This is an all time story because you said this
to me yesterday and I said, Wow, of all the
stories I've heard, that's right up there. It really is.
So we heard the story a few weeks ago that
Beth was calling the Carolina Ascent game. She's the PA
announcer and they play their games at Memorial Stadium, the
women's soccer team here in Charlotte, and you've been doing
that for a couple of years. And you know when

(07:35):
you started, they said, hey, will you be a soccer
PA announcer? And you said, well, I don't know much
about soccer.

Speaker 5 (07:40):
I said, I've watched Ted Lasso, but now you know, oh,
I know the game well into it.

Speaker 2 (07:45):
You are doing your thing and they love you, and
of course the greatest thing is to have you back
for a season two. That means season one went pretty well.

Speaker 5 (07:51):
Okay. They've been saying like, guys, you know, we just
need to get the crowds bigger. We need more energy,
We need you to have, you know, even more enthusiasm,
which I was like, well, I can bring the enthusiasm
if you're cool with that.

Speaker 2 (08:03):
So well, if they wanted, there's the opportune phrase, if
you're cool with that, if you're cool with it, Because
Beth a few weeks ago was at the Carolina Ascent
game and the person who showed up to sing the
national anthem they didn't show up. They didn't show up,
so they came to Beth at last minute and said,
can you sing the national anthem? The first time? You

(08:26):
said you had a partner there to sing it with you.
So you guys did the harmony thing and you told
me how it went, and people were like singing along
and it was great. And then again back to that
if you get asked back to do it again. They
came to you again the last game you were there,
and so two times now, and that was solo.

Speaker 5 (08:43):
I sang solo over the PA mike. And I learned
actually at the game on Friday that the players at
lunch during practice were talking about it because they were
out on the field of course when this all happened,
and they were very nervous. When the PA announcer suddenly said, well,
the national anthem singer didn't show up, so I'm gonna sing.
They thought that I was gonna, you know, not be

(09:03):
able to carry a tune with a handle on it.

Speaker 2 (09:06):
As far as I know, the national anthem singer did
show up for this weekend.

Speaker 5 (09:11):
Well, we had a trumpeteer. We had a guy who
played the trumpet and then he stayed for the rest
of the game and played like the Rocky theme and
just fun trumpet songs while the game went on. And
we won against Brooklyn FC the score one nil. It
was a fantastic game. It was freezing cold, but I
was very excited, especially when we scored for the first

(09:34):
time ever. Someone outside of the stadium called the cops
on me. They called the police because I was too.

Speaker 2 (09:46):
Loud anncer, they called that spec.

Speaker 5 (09:51):
They called the cops on well. I don't know if
they knew my name or anything, but they called the
cops on me, and the police had to show up
to the the guy who's basically like the producer in
the in the booth kind of running the board and all,
you know, telling it all of us when to do
what we're going to do. And he came in and
he was like, well, Beth, you've officially had the cops

(10:11):
called on you for verbally assaulting people.

Speaker 7 (10:15):
Did they copy you and take you out or did
they Did you see the cops?

Speaker 5 (10:19):
No, I didn't see the cops.

Speaker 2 (10:20):
So how did you know about this?

Speaker 5 (10:21):
Because the producer came in to tell me that that
they had to go into the affectional.

Speaker 2 (10:25):
Came in and went, shit, you got to bring it
down a little bit. The cops are here.

Speaker 5 (10:28):
So he goes in and he has to tell the
guys who run the sound system because I don't run
the sound of the microphone.

Speaker 2 (10:35):
You'll produce your own sporting of it.

Speaker 5 (10:37):
Wait, no, you have to.

Speaker 2 (10:38):
You are the sound. You just don't control how loud
they make you.

Speaker 5 (10:41):
I just don't control the volume for the entire sound
system in the in the stadium. So they had to
go in there to them and turn you.

Speaker 2 (10:50):
Know, the sound down. But then I got Bernie Ridge's
gain in here all morning.

Speaker 5 (10:54):
Well, this is what's funny is it came after a
conversation that I had on Friday night with Burning about
the fact that he keeps my microphone a little lower
than everywhere.

Speaker 2 (11:04):
This is an ongoing thing.

Speaker 9 (11:05):
Yeah, I would say yours is the lowest that I
keep Jim, because you're very close to the mic oh bo,
I probably have bows the highest because he's, you know.

Speaker 2 (11:13):
Got a weak voice. I've got to tell you everything.

Speaker 9 (11:15):
I have no because Bo keeps a consistency away from
the mic, and Beth gets very excited, so I try
to keep it in between Jim and Peas.

Speaker 5 (11:24):
So they said that's what they said that they they
wanted excitement, and I was excited when we scored. But
apparently I yelled goal too loud and someone outside of
the studio.

Speaker 2 (11:34):
Shatter a window.

Speaker 5 (11:35):
Did you hear it?

Speaker 2 (11:36):
I just well, you know, I mean I did not
hear it. I don't. I live relatively close to that
part of town.

Speaker 5 (11:41):
But I just imagine called the cop.

Speaker 2 (11:43):
I just imagine like a you know, an older couple
sitting down to have dinner on what time was this
the game?

Speaker 5 (11:50):
Was it two o'clock in the.

Speaker 2 (11:53):
Shut an older couple again, back to my back to
my scenario, down to have an early dinner. What does
a two pm? And she says, Gladys, will you turn
the television down in the other room? And she says, Philip,
that ain't our house.

Speaker 5 (12:10):
I'd love to get hit our hands on that nine
one one call.

Speaker 2 (12:13):
Oh what did that sound like?

Speaker 3 (12:15):
Oh?

Speaker 2 (12:16):
We know we wait, we know people, right, we know
people like the police department.

Speaker 5 (12:21):
I want to find out who called I want to
hear what it sounds.

Speaker 2 (12:26):
We have a news department. We are going to find
this tape of who called in nice? It's horrible.

Speaker 5 (12:32):
We got to get mcguinsey on this. I think we do.

Speaker 2 (12:35):
This needs to be Brett Jensen needs to get on
this story. Man to pour your glass of wire. They're
just like glass shatters and yeah that metals all over
the road for that mattered Joe Bruno.

Speaker 5 (12:44):
I mean, get them all.

Speaker 2 (12:44):
Let's let's figure it out.

Speaker 5 (12:45):
Get McGuinty, everybody, let's find out how this happened. Well
is Chris Clackham. The thing that was hilarious about it
is like the COO who he comes in quite often,
and he came in and they we yelled off to
him like tom Beth got the cops called on her
and he basically said, yes, now you're an official PA announcer.
And I was like, does this happen all?

Speaker 2 (13:07):
I really want to know if other PA announcers have
ever had this happen. This has got to be like
one in a million.

Speaker 5 (13:12):
Well, so the guy who is in there with me
running the scoreboard and kind of helping me call the game,
he has been a PA announcer. For some of the
independent soccer games, and he said it happened to him
one time his very first game he ever called, and
the police actually came into the PA booth and told
him they were going to give him a ticket, didn't

(13:33):
if he didn't turn it down.

Speaker 2 (13:35):
So once you got this news, did you sort of
like turn it down a little bit?

Speaker 4 (13:38):
No?

Speaker 5 (13:38):
I just was like, well, hopefully they turned the volume down.

Speaker 2 (13:42):
That's like goal, nice job.

Speaker 7 (13:44):
Likely will never take me alive, going, I have only
begun to fight, just.

Speaker 2 (13:53):
Starts running on the field like the emute guy.

Speaker 5 (13:59):
So what I keep telling and I've told the coach
this a couple of times, I want to be the
first and now now I've had the cops called on me.
I want to be the first PA announcer to be
shown a yellow card for like being offensive to.

Speaker 2 (14:10):
It was a yellow card. The next one was gonna
be a red card.

Speaker 5 (14:13):
Yeah, technically they're gonna throw me out of the you
know for the next game.

Speaker 2 (14:16):
See that the assent needs to embrace this because remember
the Hornets games where they used to have the applause
meter and the and the bugs would light up, and
you get they need to do this now because obviously
their PA announcers. It can do it. Just fire a
great time. You might get a rest. Nice, Yeah, you
might get a rushed if you go.

Speaker 5 (14:33):
They don't even need crowds at the game.

Speaker 2 (14:35):
They have you.

Speaker 5 (14:36):
Well that's they said they wanted the crowds to be excited,
and so you know, I'm super excited when our ladies score.
They're amazing. Apparently maybe I held out goal too long
or yelled at too loud.

Speaker 2 (14:47):
We need as many spectators as possible. Oh we have,
we have spectator.

Speaker 7 (14:52):
Somebody in Charlotte took the time to call the police
because you were too loud calling a soccer goal.

Speaker 2 (14:58):
That's amazing.

Speaker 5 (14:59):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, I kind of wanted.

Speaker 2 (15:00):
I've got to find this tape.

Speaker 5 (15:01):
I want to hear from people who were in the stadium, like,
was it that loud?

Speaker 2 (15:05):
I mean, well maybe we could read the cops show up? Yes,
are you serious?

Speaker 4 (15:10):
Yeah?

Speaker 5 (15:10):
Yeah, someone called the cops on me.

Speaker 2 (15:11):
Can you find the nam on one tape?

Speaker 4 (15:12):
Mark?

Speaker 2 (15:13):
We actually we could get it, you know, people.

Speaker 8 (15:17):
Let's do it.

Speaker 2 (15:17):
We know exactly what it happened. Yeah, let me know.
We'll ask for it.

Speaker 5 (15:24):
Yeah, the game happened two o'clock on Saturday. So somewhere
between two and four on Saturday, you know when you
were loud?

Speaker 2 (15:31):
Oh my god, I can't hear anything. What man, that's loud.
I just had a seizure, all right? So UH called
the police. Did they put the cups on you there?

Speaker 5 (15:46):
No, they didn't. They didn't actually come and talk to me.
Now they know where she is. They came and talked
to the guy kind of running the booth up there,
but he then came in and said, Beth, you are
verbally assaulting Charlotte. Well you've been doing that for four years.
It's like they don't listen to WBT.

Speaker 2 (16:07):
All right, so we have we have a criminal in
our studio now. Honest, she disturbed. She disturbed the piece.
So you made bail I disturbed it waiting at fail
you out? Is there bail money of bom.

Speaker 5 (16:19):
You imagine if you guys had had to bail me
out for being too loud.

Speaker 1 (16:24):
This is Good Morning BT six thirty eight on WBT.

Speaker 2 (16:30):
Don't forget In about half an hour, just past seven o'clock,
a major announcement here on WBT concerning the future of.

Speaker 5 (16:37):
WBT and it's big whoa.

Speaker 2 (16:40):
Our market manager and also our program director will both
be in studio for this. So if you're near a
radio right now, just stay right there.

Speaker 8 (16:48):
It's big.

Speaker 2 (16:49):
It's big, it's you.

Speaker 10 (16:50):
It's so big.

Speaker 2 (16:51):
Now, I do want to talk about a story that
is a large story as well, of course, given the
backdrop of what's happened in Charlots in recent months. Regarding
the light rail, A male victim was found with a
stab wound just before five pm near Brevard Street and
East twenty second Street on Friday, where the light rail

(17:12):
train had stopped between stations. Victim was transported to a
Novont Health Presbyterian with serious injuries. Is in stable condition,
but Mark Garrison now joins us this is the second
stabbing in or around the light rail since August, and
of course the first one was Arena Zarutzka. And I
think we know that story and where it's gone by now.

(17:32):
But on Saturday morning, the President of the United States
puts out on truth Social this message another stabbing by
an illegal migrant in Charlotte, North Carolina. What's going on
in Charlotte, Democrats are destroying it like everything else. Peace
by piece, President DJT. And we'll talk about the mayor's
response and some other responses, but Mark Garrison, WBT News Director, Unfortunately,

(17:57):
here we go again with this story.

Speaker 11 (17:59):
This is almost to Irena Sertzka because it happened on
a moving train.

Speaker 2 (18:04):
This time.

Speaker 11 (18:05):
Thirty three year old Oscar Solozano is the attacker. He
got on the train drunk, yelling, stabbed the twenty four
year old man in the chest. Now, solar Zano, as
you mentioned, was arrested at the next stop, which of
course tells us there was no security on the train,
as so many people wish there would be security on
every train. Now, Solarzano is an illegal from Honduras. He

(18:29):
listed his address as a homeless shelter, so he was
a homeless illegal from Honduras. He, we've learned, has been
deported twice in the past, got back into the country
a third time, and now is charged with this crime.
He's locked up without bond. He'll be in court this morning.
We're not exactly sure what got him jacked up, whether

(18:50):
it was the alcohol or whether any words were exchanged.
The man you mentioned critical but stable at least that's
the last word we got. But he did suffer multiple
stab wounds, and as you mentioned, it quickly became a
national story. Congressman Mark Harris showed up on Fox several
times unbelievable.

Speaker 2 (19:10):
That we would find ourselves back here.

Speaker 11 (19:11):
And again, yeah, it is unbelievable that it's almost a
carbon copy of the Zarotz commerder.

Speaker 5 (19:17):
Is it troubling that we just had Operation Charlotte's Web
here and that ICE was here reportedly to find criminals
and people who were in the country illegally? And how
did this person go undetected by what President Trump has
said has been a really successful operation.

Speaker 11 (19:38):
Well, I think the short answer to that is what
the guy being homeless, he may have been difficult to
find if he listed his address as a shelter. The
men float in and out of there, they spend some
nights there, and they might skip for five nights.

Speaker 2 (19:51):
So that may be part of the answer to that.
It's a good question.

Speaker 11 (19:54):
It was interesting that Mayor v Lyles sort of touched
on that, saying, well, enforcement of these things is left
up to the federal government. But she trashed the federal
government for being here last month. So there's still a
lot of back and forth between Republicans and Democrats on
this one.

Speaker 2 (20:12):
Some notable responses to this Mayor vio allows. You mentioned
her official response on x Everyone deserves to be and
feel safe in our city and there is no room
for violence in our community. We have invested heavily and
increasing security on our transit system, and CMPD has been
proactive in increasing its presence across the city, including announcing

(20:33):
a new multi agency effort this week. There are several
aspects of public safety that are outside of the city's jurisdiction,
including immigration policy and enforcement, but we will continue to
focus on public safety and ensuring a safe and vibrant community. Now, Mark,
It's important to point out here that this happened hours
after the new police chief was installed, and they just

(20:54):
announced going into the weekend, Because we talked about it
on Friday, the new initiative to get more security detail
into the Uptown area.

Speaker 11 (21:02):
It was very troubling that new chief, Estella Patterson, who
spent a lot of time Friday morning at her public
swearing in talking about she would be available and transparent,
was quiet over the weekend. In fact, CMPD did a
poor job of providing material on this. They've answered few questions.
They put out a vague press release. Joe Bruno and

(21:25):
several other reporters. We had to go digging through court
records to get the guy's name to learn anything about him.
So so much for the new chief and her transparency.
The other thing that is also worth pointing out here
is that Kat uses unarmed rent A cops. Now, the
mayor can talk about increased security, but ridership has tanked

(21:47):
since the last stabbing.

Speaker 8 (21:49):
And listen to this woman.

Speaker 2 (21:51):
She says she has to ride it, but she's scared.
We need officers on every single train after.

Speaker 11 (21:57):
Dark, and Kat says that is not going to happen
because they just don't think it's needed. And most of
the Reddit cops are unarmed, So security is still.

Speaker 2 (22:10):
I think a real big question about this. So Cats Brett,
Brett Kagel, Brent Cagele, rather the interim CEO, releases this statement.
We are disappointed that a verbal altercation escalated to the
point of a stabbing incident on a Blue Line train
Friday evening. Through close collaboration between Cat's Private Security Team
PSS and CMPD, a suspect was apprehended swiftly following the incident.

(22:33):
Since August, CATS, together with our partners, have taken a
proactive and robust approach to keep employees and passengers as
safe as possible by deploying additional off duty CMPD officers,
private security personnel, new technology, and safety reporting tools. Violence
has no place in our community, including on public transit.
Individuals who believe public transit can be used as an

(22:56):
area to settle grievances through violent altercations or not welcome
on our system. We will continue to work with our
partners at CMPD as well as our private security team
to ensure everyone rides appropriately appropriately on public transit. We
will not compromise on the safety of our customers and employees.
That's the statement from KGEL.

Speaker 11 (23:15):
Now, well, I should point out that I contacted Katz
more than once going okay, so was there security on
the train? And I'm not the only reporter who asked that,
and they're not answering the question, which of course means
there was no security on the train.

Speaker 2 (23:30):
So that is what we know on a Monday morning
regarding this story. But you heard President Trump has now
become involved in this, the Transportation Secretary Duffy also weighing in,
and many of the area congressional leaders and political leaders.
So this story will be a huge story.

Speaker 11 (23:47):
This week It certainly will, and I think it's going
to continue to get a lot of national attention as well.

Speaker 2 (23:56):
Six before seven on WBT, we talked about this on Friday.
It was pending. It looked like it was going to
happen because Netflix had moved into a status where they
were the exclusive negotiator for Warner Brothers. And now, as
you heard Hillary Barski just say, Netflix did agree to
buy the film and streaming businesses of Warner Brothers Discovery

(24:19):
for seventy two billion dollars in one of the biggest
Hollywood deals ever.

Speaker 5 (24:25):
Seventy two billion dollars. And what's fascinating now about this
deal the president, President Trump was at the Kennedy Center
over the weekend, and he actually commented on this deal
and even said that this could be and this is
a quote, he said, it would be a big market
share and could be a big problem, which raises questions

(24:47):
about whether or not the FEC will end up approving
a deal this large. Now, this comes after we saw
Skydance merge with Paramount and with CBS, which is that's
one of the Ellison owned companies, and we know that
Ellison has been a supporter of President Donald Trump. There

(25:09):
are reports that the head of Netflix had been in
the White House at the Oval Office earlier in December
to maybe potentially talk about the success of this deal.
But it'll be interesting to see if the FEC allows
the allowed the merger of Paramount, Skydance, CBS that kind
of thing, and if they don't allow Netflix and Warner Brothers, HBO,

(25:33):
Max to become one big conglomerate. But we are seeing smaller,
smaller amounts of competition when it comes to the production
of media and television and movies.

Speaker 2 (25:47):
So if this goes through, what exactly will Netflix control.
I'll give you some examples. Game of Thrones, Singing in
the Rain, a Clockwork, Orange, Big Bang, Theory Turner Classic Movies,
The Wizard of Oz, the Original film, all three of
the Dune movies, the distribution rights, Lord of the Rings, Friends, Gremlins,
Evil Dead, Mad Max, The Matrix, Beatlejuice, DC Comics, Tom

(26:10):
and Jerry, Harry Potter, The Goonyes, Scooby Doo, Johnny Bravo,
Looney Tunes, The Conjuring, The Sopranos, Robot Chicken, Mortal Kombat, HBO, and.

Speaker 5 (26:22):
So Glad they got Robot Chicken, I'm trying to throw
in some you know, little variety here, HBO and HBO Max.

Speaker 2 (26:30):
It goes on and on, I mean TNT Sports.

Speaker 5 (26:32):
They will be a power a powerhouse in not just Hollywood,
I mean think about the globe. I mean, Netflix has
millions and millions and millions of subscribers worldwide, and now
this gives a larger market share to those folks.

Speaker 2 (26:50):
I mean, all this talk about all the different streaming
services and how that sort of fractured in all directions.
This is bringing it back to one place, not the
only place, but only a places because outside of Disney
now and Netflix and you know a few others, I mean,
HBO Max is now gonna be in the Netflix distribution
platform if this goes through. I mean you could spend

(27:13):
four segments on all of the different things that now
Netflix will control. I mean all this hubbub about you know,
there was a Superman movie, super Friends series that was
made about twelve years ago by Zack Snyder, and then
they shut that down and then James Gunn took it over. Well,
now this moves all the DC comic stuff back in
Netflix's area, and who knows what could happen now that

(27:35):
Netflix has the authority over this.

Speaker 5 (27:38):
Well, the fact that it I mean, just Harry Potter,
Game of Thrones, in the Lord of the Rings, friends
just that well yeah, friends in Big Bang Theory like
just those right there. Those are tremendous franchise.

Speaker 2 (27:52):
Speaking of franchises and historical moves and big deal.

Speaker 5 (27:57):
Deals, big deal deals is so big.

Speaker 2 (28:00):
We've got some news regarding this radio station coming up
after the news right here on Good Morning BT. First
time this has been announced, and a lot of you
may have seen some chatter about this. We're going to
set the record straight as to what is happening the
future of WBT. Stay where you are. Good morning from
the historic ty BOYD studio. Bo Thompson here alongside Beth Troutman,

(28:21):
I'd like to welcome to the room. Also our market
manager General Manager for Radio one, Charlotte Marshall Landis is here.
Good morning, Good morning, It's great to have you here
in the room. We also have WBT Sports director Jim Zoki.
Good morning, great to be here, love the show. We
also have a WBT program director Mike Schaeffer in the

(28:43):
room today.

Speaker 8 (28:44):
Good morning, great to be here. I love Jim Zoch.

Speaker 2 (28:47):
Yes, thank you, Mike. We all love Jim Zoch he
g two. We lost the announcement. That's it, that's it,
that was it. Now we all love this radio station.
And I want to for the moment because you know,
this is kind of what I do. I want to
go back a little bit. The first wbt FM launched
in nineteen forty seven on the ninety nine point nine frequency,

(29:09):
playing storecasting music. It was ultimately discontinued. Wbt FM returned
to launch on one oh seven point nine in nineteen
sixty two, first playing classical and then beautiful music. In
nineteen seventy eight, wbt FM became WBCY, initially playing album

(29:30):
oriented rock before fully embracing contemporary hit top forty music
in the mid nineteen eighties. I remember because I was
listening they used the Moniker all hit one O eight WBCY.
In nineteen eighty nine, it became WBTFM again as an

(29:50):
adult contemporary station one oh seven point nine Sunny FM.

Speaker 10 (29:57):
Now spicily designed for you to listen law here with
at least fifty minutes of the greatest hits of yesterday
in the day on Charlotte's new one O seven point
nine Sunny FM.

Speaker 2 (30:08):
Oh it's been a while since we've heard that jingle. Meanwhile,
Sunny FM later became wws N, then later's later years
became w L and K has one oh seven point
nine the link. Meanwhile, in nineteen ninety five, Jefferson Pilot

(30:30):
bought Chester, South Carolina based ninety nine point three wbzk FM.
Those calls law letters were later changed to WBT FM
and so now thirty years later, this December eleventh, that's
in just a few days, WBT history will be made
again as the WBT FM call letters return to one

(30:54):
oh seven point nine's frequency with the debut of Charlotte's
FM News Talk one oh seven point nine FM WBT
coming later this week, and we are so excited to
announce that the future of WBT is now going to

(31:17):
be on the most powerful FM frequency in this market
and for that matter, in this region. One o seven
point nine WBT will happen on Thursday morning.

Speaker 5 (31:29):
Thursday of this week one oh seven point nine Charlotte's
FM News Talk.

Speaker 12 (31:34):
It's a very very very exciting time, very exciting time
for this radio station, and it just shows that we're
moving into the future right. We want to be here
fifty years from now and this is really really important
for us to be doing this and so excited.

Speaker 5 (31:48):
Well, look, we couldn't be more thrilled. When we got
the news at the end of last week. We had
a little celebration here in the studio. I bicked cookies
today for everybody so that we could all celebrate together.
But I think most importantly we want to say thank you,
because that means that you all and Radio one, you
have faith in us.

Speaker 2 (32:08):
Mike Schaeffer, you have been the captain of the ship
here for the better part of this last decade. This
is a big deal for this radio station.

Speaker 8 (32:15):
It is a big deal, and it's a it's been
a long road.

Speaker 9 (32:18):
As Marcia will will tell all of us off off
the air at some point, there hasn't been a week
that's gone by since I've known heard that I haven't
talked about this very moment. So, you know, to say
that it's a big deal is uh is obvious, but
but but it most definitely is in in you know, personally,

(32:39):
because it, like I said, has been a long road.

Speaker 2 (32:42):
Well, when you talk about the history of this station,
and you talk about the famous and long standing AM
stations across the country, the ones that are still viable,
and the ones that are still around, quite frankly, if
you look around in the major markets are ones that
have begun broadcasting on a high powered FM. Now, I'll
tell you, sitting here, as a longtime employee of this

(33:04):
radio station and a student of its history, that I
have longed for the day where this station would finally
be on an FM signal of this power that deserves
to be here. Quite frankly, I never thought i'd see
the day that we would be on one oh seven
point nine. And as a kid growing up, I listened
to two stations in this market. I listened to this
one eleven ten WBT, and I listened to one oh

(33:26):
seven point nine, which, as I said, back in those days,
was a one o eight WBCY. But those were the
two most near and dear signals to me, and two
of the most powerful ones, obviously, And the opportunity for
this station to now be on one oh seven point nine,
I never thought i'd see this day. But I'm so
incredibly excited about this. You may be wondering what happens

(33:47):
to the other Radio one properties, and we'll talk about
this for a second. Marsha w L and K, which
is mixed one oh seven point now A nine, will
now be found at one hundred point nine FM and
ninety nine point three FM, continuing to deliver Charlotte's best
mix for adult contemporary music fans. Their current lineup of
people like Matt and Liz and Holly Hayes and Madison

(34:08):
James will still be there. Praise one hundred point nine,
Charlotte's Inspiration Station will now broadcast on one oh two
point five FM and six' TEN. Am ONE o two
five of the, block which has Been charlotte's source for
hip hop AND r AND, b will be exiting this.
Market so you're wondering how the dominoes are affected or
how they fall based ON wbt moving to one oh

(34:29):
seven point. Nine there's your sort of decoder sheet for.

Speaker 12 (34:32):
That, Yeah AND i have to say this was not
this decision, obviously when you look at moving that many
listeners and having them find new dials was not made into.
Lightly but when we looked at our asset of radio,
stations and we looked at the listeners that we're trying
to deliver, to and looked at our advertisers quite, frankly,
right because without our, advertisers we don't, exist and so

(34:55):
we just felt that by making this move and GETTING
wbt on AN, fm for the future of the radio
station and for the future of the existence of us
being able to really do what we, do which is
serve the, community serve our, listeners server our, advertisers that
this was a really important move to. Make so the
good news is again lots of research went into, this

(35:17):
and so with our other radio stations and where their listeners,
fall it's going to be a win win for. Everybody
AND i could not be more excited to HAVE wbt
on a high power one hundred thousand and YT, fm
which is.

Speaker 2 (35:29):
Amazing we have more to talk about. HERE i know
there's a lot of reaction out, there, PROBABLY i, mean
this is the Biggest i've been working here almost thirty
years and this is by far the biggest announcement That
i've been a part of. Here but this is a
one hundred and three year old radio, station and so
we don't do anything as it regards this station lightly around,
here and of course never. Have you may be wondering

(35:50):
what happens to eleven, ten the eleven ten am, signal
and we will talk about that when we come back
here ON, wbt but again coming up This. Thursday it
is history in the making as we've become one oh
seven point NINE, FM Wbt New's, talk eleven, ten nine
to nine, THREE Wbt Bo, Thompson Beth, Troutman radio One

(36:13):
Market Manager Marcia landis is in, STUDIO wbt Program, Director
Mike schaeffer in, STUDIO Wbt Sports Director Jim zochi in,
studio And bernie And steve and hopefully so many of
you listening right now on the heels of our, major
major announcement that coming This, THURSDAY wbt moves to one
oh seven point NINE fm to Become CHARLOTTE'S Fm News. Talk,

(36:40):
now you may have. Questions you probably have many. Questions
we had, QUESTIONS i had, Questions BUT i think the
biggest question outside of where we're moving is what becomes
of eleven. Ten we're here to tell you today that
eleven ten in the immediate, future On, thursday will continue
to SIMULCAST. Wbt that will happen for the rest of this.

(37:01):
Month in Early, JANUARY wbt will ceize to broadcast the
brand on eleven. Ten, Now, MIKE i want to get
you to speak to a little bit about, that because
that is obviously a question that people have had some thoughts.

Speaker 9 (37:16):
About, sure, absolutely we are currently sitting in the Ty
boyd studio AT. Wbt that history is something that is
near and dear to all of, us myself, Included, marcia,
included all of you and everyone here. Listening that BRAND
wbt will. Continue we will be the stewards of that
history at one oh seven point NINE, fm not going,

(37:38):
away not going to be, forgotten and will be you,
know talked about for the next hundred, years which is
why we're making this. Move as it REGARDS WBT am eleven,
ten we will continue as a. Company radio one And
Urban one will continue to proudly own and OPERATE am

(37:59):
eleven ten AND. Wbt there's no question about, that and
please stay tuned for announcements coming as to exactly what
that programming will be And.

Speaker 2 (38:09):
Marcia in order to make the move to one oh
seven point, nine which is what we're, doing which is a,
tremendous tremendous. Opportunity in order to make that, Move Radio
one had to make a, decision a business decision about
how that could. Happen and part of the way that
that happens is What mike just talked about the fact
that in Early, january THE wbt brand will have to

(38:32):
move from eleven.

Speaker 12 (38:33):
Ten, YES i, mean and please note that to do
this behind the, scenes we had about fifteen to twenty
people working on this for quite some. Time, again this
is not something that we take. Lightly and this brand
is so very important to, us and.

Speaker 5 (38:50):
You're going to stay in this.

Speaker 12 (38:51):
Studio the history of this studio will remain the history
of the people that have made this radio station so.
Important but, yes it is a business.

Speaker 5 (38:59):
DECISION i, mean we.

Speaker 12 (39:00):
Had to protect our number one asset in this cluster
and our number one radio, station and that IS, wbt
and so with that we had to put it on
a signal that more people could hear. It and, yes
we have a powerful fifty thousand watt radio, station right
but one hundred thousand watts delivering to listeners and consumers

(39:23):
to support our.

Speaker 5 (39:23):
Advertisers so, yes it.

Speaker 12 (39:25):
Was a business, decision but As mike, said not taken
without the emotional attachment to this brand and the history
and being there at the hundred and knowing how many
people have sat in.

Speaker 5 (39:37):
These seats and appreciating.

Speaker 12 (39:38):
That but, yeah we're very very excited for the future
of the radio.

Speaker 5 (39:41):
Station, well and one of the things that we talked
about that we're so excited about just as people who
are so dedicated to the people we listen, to and
we love our listeners so. Much so many people have
been reaching out to us in the last several. Months
the last, year they've bought you cars or they've dated
their technology and suddenly they didn't have access TO wbt

(40:05):
eleven TEN am the way that they did. Before THE
am wasn't in some manufactured cars that were manufactured after
the year twenty, twenty and they wanted to make sure
that they could hear us and figure out the best
ways to hear. Us and we're not getting rid of our.
Streaming people were asking in other parts of the, country
can they still listen ON wbt dot. Com, yes, absolutely.

Speaker 12 (40:26):
Positively we're just taking our local radio signal and making
it even more. Powerful but, yes you can still listen
to it all the ways you could.

Speaker 5 (40:34):
Before. Absolutely.

Speaker 7 (40:35):
Well bow AND i have been here the longest AND,
i as you, know we used to market this as
you could hear eleven TEN am From maine To miami To,
cuba and so we've always been proud of that. Power
but you're talking about moving to the quality OF fm
one hundred thousand watch signal like this is really this
is a landmark. Day this is like one of those
days in the history of one hundred and three.

Speaker 2 (40:55):
Years that's.

Speaker 7 (40:56):
Fantastic so congratulations. Everybody you said fifteen to twenty People
i've been working on. That that's that's it's a great.
Concept and appreciate all the hard.

Speaker 13 (41:04):
Work.

Speaker 7 (41:04):
Mike my suggestion still stands with THE fm lock it,
in rip the noob off.

Speaker 2 (41:10):
If you want to use. THAT i don't THINK i
was ever used that, before but No i've heard of
lock it, in rip the knob. Off just think about.

Speaker 8 (41:16):
It, well you, KNOW i will take that into it considering.

Speaker 12 (41:21):
WELL i also think to what you just said is
so important because when we said those statements about how
far you can reach, us we didn't have streaming back, then,
right there was no. Streaming you still can hear us
all through you can hear us, worldwide and.

Speaker 2 (41:34):
So many people listen TO wbt in modern times on.
Demand they listen to it On, spotify they listened to
it AT wbt dot, com they listen to it on
The Worldwide mobile app AS i always, say and so,
listen you all know how DEVOTED i am to the
history of these call. LETTERS i have put my, heart my,
soul every ounce of my being into making sure that

(41:57):
the call letters are preserved and they're on the way
they should. Be the one hundredth anniversary several years, ago
that was a tremendous labor of, love AND i believe
properly honored and commemorated this station after a century of,
service because it's built on the shoulders of so many
people that were in that room that. Night BUT i

(42:18):
want this station to exist for another century or well
into another. Century and this move right, here this is
the move that best positions us to carry on that.
Torch there is no question about. It LIKE i said,
before this is the PREMIERE fm signal in this region
and the opportunity for us to be on again what
has been in the PAST, wbtfm not wbt as we

(42:42):
are right now in that, form but the call LETTERS.
Wbtfm there's one other place where those have, been and
here we are right. Now we're going to really lean
into this starting On, thursday and take this station into
a new era of, broadcasting and all of the people
that you listen to now and all of the people
that we still honor to this. Day The tyboid studio

(43:03):
is not going. Anywhere the. TIE i try to Say
tyboid as often AS i can every, day because, again
those are the shoulders we're built, on and The Grady
coals And Bob lacy's AND i could go on and,
on but none of us in this room are ever
going to forget any of. Them this is the way
to make sure that legacy lives on into the. Future
and at the end of the, day that's the most

(43:24):
important thing is can we keep this? Going?

Speaker 12 (43:27):
ABSOLUTELY i, MEAN i think you just you've just nailed.
It it's keeping the legacy. Going and this move is
the way that we are going to keep is so
important amazing radio station. Going and as you, said for
the next, hundred the next two, HUNDRED i plan us
being around here, forever my great great great great great
great grandchildren.

Speaker 5 (43:48):
Listening TO wbt on THE.

Speaker 2 (43:50):
Fm, well and, look As beth, said you, know there
are some young people right now that don't even know
WHAT am. Is there are some cars that are being
built that don't HAVE am in. Them we LOVE, am
but the reason we LOVE am is because of what
it's been AND fm one oh seven point nine gives
us the best ability to keep the am dream alive

(44:10):
of WHAT wbt the brand has been for one hundred
and three years and so. Again coming up On, thursday
one oh seven point NINE FM Wbt CHARLOTTE'S Fm News,
talk a brand new era for this radio station and
best will sound so smooth IN.

Speaker 5 (44:28):
Fm it'll be like a whipped cream. Sandwich so.

Speaker 7 (44:33):
With all of that a thing it is that's better
than my suggestion rip The, yeah that's a white cream.

Speaker 5 (44:40):
Sandwich we have the ideas to just through the roof right.

Speaker 2 (44:43):
Now so we have so much we're still working out
some of the.

Speaker 14 (44:45):
Cakes so hated drum all your brands, Humming, yeah it's a.

Speaker 1 (44:59):
Good.

Speaker 2 (45:01):
Yeah we had.

Speaker 5 (45:03):
Newsworthy of drum, rolls don't you? THINK i think.

Speaker 2 (45:06):
So we've got a lot of people chiming in on
the text line seven oh, four, five seven oh eleven
ten if you're just joining. Us the big announcement within
the last half hour that coming up On, THURSDAY wbt
will become one oh seven point NINE Fmwbt CHARLOTTE'S Fm
News talk on the most POWERFUL fm signal in the.
AREA i mean THIS i was mentioning. EARLIER i used

(45:29):
to listen TO bt on eleven ten AND i used
to listen TO wbcy as a. Kid and one oh
seven point nine has gone through many many evolutions over the,
years but this is my favorite one because now we
get to be on that, signal and that IS i
mean it. Is it's one of the premier signals in this.
Area and, uh you, know we're going to be on

(45:50):
PEOPLE'S fm seek in their car for the first time
ever in many, cases AND i don't mean to suggest
THAT fm is the only place you can get our.
Show it's, not and in this modern, era you can
get it so many different, ways but this is a
very very important. Way and there are all kinds of
studies that have been done over the last several years

(46:11):
about how much people still listen to terrestrial radio in their.
CARS i know There's, SPOTIFY i know there's you, know
you listen to your own stream and no one's ignoring.
That but the ability to be on this one hundred
thousand watch signal is an incredible addition to our.

Speaker 5 (46:32):
ARSENAL i cried just we had a text here ask
us when we found out we found out just the
end of last, week because we, teased we talked On
friday that we were going to make this big. Announcement
we talked about that On. Friday when we found out
it was mid. Show our program director came in AND
i cried and. Completely if you go back and listen

(46:55):
the day that it. HAPPENED i think we had an
interview shortly after we found, out AND i don't even
know the question SINCE i. ASKED i THINK i was, like,
so trees happen with houses and the.

Speaker 2 (47:04):
Fall, yeah we did an interview With David, chadwick AND
i have no idea what it was.

Speaker 5 (47:08):
About, WELL i don't know WHAT i said out loud
BECAUSE i was so overwhelmed with. Emotion because we all
care so much about our. Listeners we care so much
about this. Station we care so much about the product
that we bring and the content that we, provide and
the relationships that we have developed over the course of
the four years of this show and the one hundred

(47:29):
plus years of the, station and now that we know
that it can continue to grow and can continue to
reach people and reach more, people our hearts are so
full over this, announcement and we know it's an emotional
announcement for people who have been listening to this station
for years and, years but we're hearing from a lot of.

(47:49):
YOU i want to read a message like this one
From kelly who, said this is an emotional change for
us who have listened TO wbt our whole. LIVES i
am happy because my kitchen radio only HAS fm and
NOW i won't have to use my phone to listen to,
y'all but you. Can you can still use the phone
to listen to us if you need.

Speaker 2 (48:08):
TO i think that's an important word, emotional Because i'm
emotional about. IT i mean you all who have listened
to me, Here you've listened TO zok here for so many.
YEARS i mean this radio station and eleven ten has
coursed through my veins as long As i've been able
to process what a radio. Was BUT i can also
tell you it's the. Combination there's an element of sadness

(48:29):
about eleven, ten but there is an elation about one
oh seven point nine BECAUSE i have longed one of
them to put this station on AN fm signal of
the power of one oh seven point, nine one that it.
Deserves But i'll be honest with, YOU i never thought
i'd see the day that this scenario would. Happen they've
talked for years about various frequencies around, town different ownership,

(48:52):
groups talking about how can we power up and increase
the power of WBT'S fm, footprint and the pie in
the sky was always one oh seven point. Nine BUT
i don't know THAT i ever thought this day would.
Come and so the ability to say to you now
on THIS wbt, brand that all of that we've done

(49:13):
leading up one hundred and three, years we now have
the way to continue that best into the. Future that's
the bottom line of, everything and that supersedes everything for.
Me But i'm not going to sit on the air
here and act like there's a part of me that's
not lamenting the part about eleven. Ten but when you're
talking about how can this station exist for the next,

(49:34):
century this is the. Way this is the, way this
is the, path AND i have no doubt about. That
so you, know we all process this and we. Will
but we're at a very very momentous day for the
future of this BRAND.

Speaker 7 (49:46):
Wbt, yeah for those who haven't been around for THE
i don't know thirty years or, so eleven TEN am
is a huge. STICK i, mean you can hear it
so far as we, said north and, south especially going
From cuba To. Maine but at, night because it is so,
powerful they have to make it directional and powered up
because there's an eleven ten In, Omaha, nebraska and they

(50:08):
would interfere with each.

Speaker 2 (50:09):
Other so when we.

Speaker 7 (50:09):
Powered down at, night as big as we, were you
couldn't hear us very well In Gaston county just over the.
Bridge and so that's why we added about thirty years
ago ninety nine point three to supplement that so people
could listen on the radio obviously pre streaming and all
the other. Technology then now you have this stick one
oh seven point nine that takes care of all of.
That and just as an, example you, know we had

(50:30):
a place In Beach mountain for. Years we could listen
to it all the way up To Beach mountain one
oh seven point, nine back then the link and now
the mix and now to BE, wbt and that's just
one direction of just you, know there's so many the
widespread area where one oh seven nine In Charlotte beyond
is going to be crystal CLEAR fm. Quality all those
things is just just what you want moving through the.

Speaker 11 (50:50):
FUTURE i was.

Speaker 2 (50:51):
Just talking To Nick craig the other. Day he was
listening to one oh seven point nine In. Wilmington. Wilmington,
now it depends on the, day the further you get
out of the main broadcast. AREA i was In Winston
salem On saturday. Morning my son's At Wake forest turned
on one oh seven point nine as if you were In.
Charlotte that was the way that it. Sounded so this
opens up all kinds of opportunities for us and this

(51:12):
modern day. Station but all the voices that you hear
right now you will continue to. Hear there are no
programming changes that are. Coming it's just we. Are it's
the same, station it's a new. Location that's the way
you should think about. It and the, History LIKE i,
said we're still coming from The tyboid, studio all of
the heritage that comes to this. Station this is THE

(51:33):
wbt brand that is moving into modern times more so
than we are. Today and that's always, this that's the, trick, Right,
otherwise how are you going to? Evolve but we're still
go to keep the landline, Right, yes as far AS i,
KNOW i keep some history in.

Speaker 8 (51:49):
HERE i, mean he's going to walk around with The,
bluetooth and it's head all.

Speaker 2 (51:52):
Day they can't change the phones in. Here that the
same phones THAT i used WHEN i was Screening Henry
bogan's calls in nineteen.

Same it's the.

Speaker 5 (52:17):
Same we're staying the. Same you're just going to be
a bit.

Speaker 15 (52:19):
Here it's.

Speaker 2 (52:20):

seven point NINE, FM Wbt CHARLOTTE'S Fm News. Talk long
time coming for this radio, station and we are beyond.
Excited much more coming up on this as the day moves,
on the week goes. On DETAILS i know you want,

(58:30):
Them you'll have them all in good. Time we were
in the middle of our annual contest for one person
where she wins, nothing but it's fun for all the
rest of. Us name that fake college bowl after all
the big college bowl games were announced. Yesterday BUT i
do want to talk about for a moment here the
fact that now the stage is set and there's some controversy.

(58:53):
HERE i Mean Notre dame did not make the field
of twelve and because of, That Notre dame, said, okay
we will not be playing in any book would take
our name off the. List and So miami gets, In
Notre dame does.

Speaker 5 (59:04):
Not and weren't they? Tied weren't they Tied miami And
Notre dame pretty?

Speaker 2 (59:09):
Much But miami Beat Notre dame in the. Season, kay
they did the head to. HEAD i, mean as far
As i'm, concerned it makes. Sense but there are a
lot of people who are angry And alabama gets. In of,
course you Got James, madison you Got. Tulane and were
you surprised About bama getting?

Speaker 7 (59:25):
In, no because of their they had the toughest strength
of schedule and they went on a long run of
beating teams that were, Wagged WHEREAS i think the comparison
to me Is Notre dame had a relatively easy. Schedule by, Comparison,
yes their record was the, same actually one, better Because
alabama shouldn't. BE i, mean somebody was gonna be upset
they were left. Out if it Was Miami, alabama you
can make cases for all of. THEM i always said

(59:46):
this back in the, day this is, stupid but they
would vote for the national. Champion it was like they
would vote who was the number one, team and then they, said,
no we have to play for. It so they got
down to we have two teams compete for the championship,
game but we'll vote for those two teams who are
going to. Play the third team was always. Upset of
course we've got to go to. Four so the fifth
team was always. Upset and now that we're at, twelve
it's like the thirteenth team is. Upset and by the,

(01:00:08):
way a few years we're going to. Sixteen And i'll
tell you right now there's seventeenth place team will be,
upset just like the field of sixty five or whatever it.

Speaker 2 (01:00:14):
Is for the, BASKETBALL i.

Speaker 5 (01:00:15):
Would like to point out that you That James, Madison James,
madison The dukes in The, yeah, guys That's Bill napier's.

Speaker 7 (01:00:22):
School, now he's got a lot to live up, to,
right and they're not going to let him coach in their.

Speaker 2 (01:00:27):
PLAYOFF i think that's the coach is staying.

Speaker 8 (01:00:29):
For and you near, This, billy he might be a good.

Speaker 2 (01:00:31):
Look Turn, Billy, Yeah billy stand. Backley So december, Nineteenth friday,
night that'll be the first game that's AN abc game
at eight, O'clock alabama number nine versus number Eight. Oklahoma Then,
saturday you've got three. Games you've Got miami At texas
at noon or At miami Versus. Texas, no it's At
texas caause the first round you actually play at the
higher seed. Schools So miami At texas is at. Noon

(01:00:54):
then three point Thirty tulane Versus Old, miss and then
the seven Thirty James matta And. Oregon And december thirty
first seven Thirty Ohio state versus the ten to seven.
Winner and these are the, teams of course that have.
Buys On New Year's day at, Noon Texas tech versus
the twelve versus five, winner four Pm, indiana which is

(01:01:16):
the number one overall seed versus the eight and nine,
winner and then eight o'clock that Night georgia versus the
eleven six seeds. Winner and that's your national championship as
far as the playoff. Goes got, THAT i got. It
that's not part of the quiz that we're giving. You
but that's. All i'm glad you mentioned.

Speaker 13 (01:01:33):
That.

Speaker 2 (01:01:33):
Job we have more back to our regular house scheduled.
Segments i'm turn my mic off now a regularly scheduled
contest That beth is the only contestant and she wins.

Speaker 5 (01:01:43):
Nothing are you? Ready one of our listeners suggested that
we let other people call in and play and we
give them fictional tickets to go To. MCADDONVILLE i thought
that was kind of.

Speaker 2 (01:01:53):
Brilliant number, One which of these is the fake bowl?
Game Beth troutman And Beth troutman, only?

Speaker 5 (01:01:58):
Okay number?

Speaker 2 (01:01:59):
One The Progressive bowl hosted By, Flow The Las Vegas
bowl hosted BY i Guess Las vegas the Way, NEWTON i,
believe THE La bowl hosted By.

Speaker 2 (01:02:30):

didn't say like the word wiener or, Anything SO i
think it's probably.

Speaker 5 (01:02:36):
NOT i am gonna say The Progressive bowl hosted By
flow is. Fake and so you were trying to fool, me,
right because isn't THE La bowl being hosted by like somebody?
Random this?

Speaker 5 (01:03:18):
Answering, okay so what was the was The Potato, bowl
The Green Bean bowl and The Birmingham?

Speaker 2 (01:03:22):

Speaker 2 (01:03:26):
Spice you go third. Vegetables that One.

Speaker 5 (01:03:28):

all that for you coming up in just a few
minutes and talk To haley And brinn about how you
still can help kids first of The, carolinas because the
need is still there And christmas is still several weeks.
Away all, Right it's eight twenty one ON wbt on

(01:04:16):
This monday, morning and what a Great friday night it
was here at One Julian Price. PLACE i don't have
to tell most of you that BECAUSE i know so
many people listening TO. Wbt we're here and drop bikes,
off and many of you got out of the car
and came and said. Hello and the weather ended. UP
i mean it was, cold but far from the worst
weather we've ever had for this gathering For Hancock's bikes For,

(01:04:39):
kids these thirty second Annual Hancocks bikes For. Kids another
one in the. Books And i'm gonna let him tell
us what the latest latest number that he's, heard because
this always sort of evolves a little bit From friday
night Into, monday and it will as we get closer To.
Christmas But charlotte's most Beloved John hancock is with us
on This monday. Morning good, Morning, John good.

Speaker 15 (01:05:00):
Morning exciting.

Speaker 2 (01:05:02):
Day it is an exciting.

Speaker 15 (01:05:04):
Day, yeah exciting for, well you, know next YEAR i
get to do the bike drive with fifty thousand extra,
Walks SO i think THAT'S i think that's kind of good.
Fun we're as far AS i, know we're hovering around eight,
hundred but the Store Kids First store will get more
as time goes. On and it is just we saw

(01:05:26):
so many new, faces AND i guess that's WHAT i
walked away From friday night thinking about the fact that
we had a lot of people that, said this is
the first Year i've, participated AND i just think THAT'S
i just think that's.

Speaker 2 (01:05:41):
Outstanding so we also Have brent And Hailey sanders From
Kids first of The carolinas on the phone line with.
US i wanted to get all three of you all
with us together because you, know not everybody could be
with us at the end of the broadcast the other.
Night but you, Know, brent first of, all good morning
to both of. You thanks for being.

Speaker 15 (01:05:59):
Here, hey, both thank.

Speaker 4 (01:06:01):
You Thank we're. Excited it's it's been quite the. Weekend
i'll echo What john. Said it was this Amazing friday
night at the back drive with seeing people that were
new and seeing people that have been coming for thirty.
Years and just to let everyone everyone, Know, hayden you,
know our, Son hailey's. Brother he had fifteen volunteers and

(01:06:21):
twenty some girl and boy scouts at the store and
we got right at eight hundred bikes in the store
of the two Stores friday, night and then By saturday,
morning about eight hours, later we had already deployed three
hundred and thirty bikes out into the. Community, wow with

(01:06:44):
more to go between now and you know the twenty
fourth so so bikes have already found a.

Speaker 3 (01:06:49):
Home it's.

Speaker 4 (01:06:51):
Amazing And i'll just say one other thing for all
the listeners that may not have heard the. Story you,
know in nineteen eighty, nine when a local organization misappropriated
a bunch of gifts That sharon had gotten from the,
hospital she started kids first and, said you, know that's
never going to happen. Again we're going to make sure every,
family every, child gets their, wishes their. Needs so we

(01:07:13):
have a list of families And haley's the keeper of the,
list but we know exactly what they, need what the mom,
needs what the parents, need and so any additional help
you can give us between now and the end of
the end of the. Year our Website Kids first of
The carolinas dot. Org every ten dollars, donation every fifteen
dollars donation helps us supply those actual needs for those.

(01:07:34):
Children so that's what we're doing, now and the by
drive is just a major catalyst to do all.

Speaker 5 (01:07:39):
That, Well, hailey you were. THERE i was actually really. Impressed.
Haley you had like a heated jacket. On you were
so prepared for For friday.

Speaker 4 (01:07:47):
Night back At.

Speaker 5 (01:07:47):
Best you stole she stole it from you brot.

Speaker 16 (01:07:50):
Car he pulled it out to show me how cool
it Was best AND i gotta, SAY i was, like
that's so. Cool give it to.

Speaker 5 (01:07:57):
Me, well you guys came, prepared, haired with these gigantic
smiles on your, faces and we, were like you, said
so thrilled to see so many, faces old, faces new,
faces people bringing in their. Bikes But, haley you just
heard your dad talking about the fact that there are
needs that still need to be. Met what are some
of the things people can still donate along with bringing

(01:08:19):
a bike to your. Location.

Speaker 16 (01:08:21):
ABSOLUTELY i mean this is a huge. Year this is
stacking up to be like the one coming out OF
covid with the need that we're. Seeing so looking at the,
list what we're seeing a lot this. Year LIKE i,
mentioned you know last, week we're seeing a lot of,
Coats we're seeing, Socks shoes are huge this, year you,
know just basic. Necessities we've seen a lot of people

(01:08:43):
asking for toilet, trees non perishable, foods just those things
that you walk by in your kitchen every day and
don't even think. About that extra can of soup would
be so helpful to another family this. Year and so
that's what we're. Seeing and if you're looking to donate
or thinking about, anything like my dad, said come see
us at Kids first of The carolinas dot. Org you

(01:09:05):
can check out our social, media Our, instagram Our, facebook
and you can come see us at the. Store we
would love to see anybody coming in and welcome you
with open arms and show you our whole organization and
we were ready to make the needs met and we
just need your.

Speaker 13 (01:09:18):
Help to do it.

Speaker 2 (01:09:19):
Well LIKE i Said friday, NIGHT i had the honor
of Knowing sharon when she was alive and spent many
years going to this event with, her AND i remember
that big sweatshoot sweatsuit she'd wear and walking around and
calling the. Shots AND i still feel like she's there in,
spirit but she'd be so proud of what you all are,
doing carrying on the torch here and and watching down

(01:09:40):
all of. US i mentioned On friday, night it took
like a whole segment to do all the thank you.
Is one name failed to, mention who is someone who
goes back to The sharon era Was Robin, diamond who
brought by a sandwiches for. Everybody and that's you, know
people come by and make sure that we're okay as
we're out there in the cold trying to keep that broadcast,
going And john is going from car to. Car But,

(01:10:01):
john we got about a minute. Left you. Know IT'S
i just love the fact that we can keep this
tradition going all these years, later and so many people
love seeing you On friday, night AND i know that
your heart is full on This monday. Morning yeah it.

Speaker 15 (01:10:15):
Is you mentioned the Names brad And Robin tolbert are
the couple up In, denver those old neighborhood gets together
and last year they brought us seventy five bikes and
this year they brought us one, hundred SO i wanted
to make sure mention them as. Well go To Kids
versus The carolinas dot com dot.

Speaker 17 (01:10:35):
Org and you'll be able to find out where their
retail store, is which Is Botton Welling Creek, market and
the hours and the needs and the bike drive is,
over but the need for Kids first really has just.

Speaker 2 (01:10:49):
Begun, well we will keep the word out and we'll
talk to you between now and. Then of, Course John,
hancock thank you so, much thank.

Speaker 13 (01:10:57):
You i'll see you On.

Speaker 2 (01:10:57):

to you soon and thanks and great to always see
On friday.

Speaker 4 (01:11:03):
Night Merry, Christmas Merry.

Speaker 5 (01:11:05):
Christmas thank you.

Speaker 2 (01:11:06):
All and we should also mention a huge thanks To Ed,
billick the spearheads this thing On friday, night and Also
LaToya brody who's our promotions director who just did a
tremendous job organizing all of the support, staff AND aj
And byron AND i could go on and, on and
of Course Marshall landis And Mike, schaeffer our program director

(01:11:28):
and general, manager who make sure that this thing still
goes on each. Year Hancocks bikes For, kids the thirty second,
annual over eight hundred bikes going to kids in the.
Area and as they were, saying already in the hands
of some of the.

Speaker 5 (01:11:40):
Kids, yeah we have a spectacular family here in this,

Mulvaney good, morning good.

Speaker 13 (01:18:28):
Morning it's better than better than being In, Oslo, norway
which is WHERE i think it was last.

Speaker 5 (01:18:32):
Week oh that explains. It, wow this time of year,
too that's.

Speaker 13 (01:18:36):
Tough, yeah no one invites me To oslo In. June
i've BEEN i think three times now In norway and
it's always been In. November how do.

Speaker 2 (01:18:44):
You even know what day or time it?

Speaker 13 (01:18:46):
IS i don't you DON'T i know It's, monday, bo
BECAUSE i talk to you on as Many mondays AS i.
Can it's sort of HOW i start the.

Speaker 2 (01:18:52):
Week uh, Huh, well it's been a few. Weeks this
might be the longest we've gone without talking to you
in a. While and so you know what happens In
washington when when we don't talk to, you everything just goes.
Nuts AND i don't even know where to begin, Here
but BEFORE i, BEGIN i do have something related to
the president that relates To. Charlotte but since you have been,
away what has been the biggest thing that you've been?

(01:19:15):
Watching even though you haven't been here the whole, Time.

Speaker 13 (01:19:18):
I've been still watching the reaction to the. Midterms not the,
midterms there's off year elections that we had WHAT i
guess it's a month ago now that anybody who's serious
about the business knows that was not a good thing For.
Republicans you can you can you, know, yes the purpose
of elections is to, win and they, won and that that's,
great but the margins will frighten anybody who is who's

(01:19:43):
actually legitimately serious about about this, business and it is
it's you're starting to hear the type of things that
you hear when parties are afraid of losing. Power you
hear about people Retiring Marjorie Taylor, green you about in.
Fighting you, Know Nancy mace is now saying, that you,
Know Michael johnson's a Terrible speaker of The, house et,
cetera et. Cetera you're hearing more and more rumors about

(01:20:04):
people losing cabinet. Positions this is what happens when people
are worried about the outcome of the next. Election so
that's REALLY i, mean there's a thousand things going, on
as you, mentioned but that's the thing THAT i sort
of watched the closest because to, me it's the most
interesting Because i've Been i've been on all sides of, that,
Right i've been in The, house in the executive. Branch
so that's What i've been watching more.

Speaker 5 (01:20:24):
Inning speaking of, that one of the biggest rumors as
far as cabinet members, go there's a rumor going around
That President trump is thinking about Replacing Christy nome With Glenn. Youngkin,
yeah and.

Speaker 13 (01:20:37):
That's the ONE i don't. Get, Okay The hegseth thing
made some sense to. ME i don't know IF i
agree with it or, not none of my business IF i,
agree BUT i understood. It The Cash betel, RUMORS i
understand why Because Donald trump doesn't like bad, headlines and
Heg seth has been you, know the sort of the

(01:20:57):
reason behind some bad, headlights And trump really he doesn't like.
That the same with Cash. Forttel you, know rumors now
that he's using his security detail to help his girlfriend's
drunk friends or stuff like. THAT i have no, idea
but so it fits a. Pattern trump doesn't like bad.
News they're providing bad. News it makes sense that you
talk about making a change. There christy known was the exact.

(01:21:18):
OPPOSITE i think as cruel as many of us think
that it is the new policies on immigration and so.
FORTH i think That christy has delivered exactly what the
administration has asked under some really tough. Circumstances So i'm
not sure why she's getting the focus the. Chatter and you,

(01:21:39):
KNOW i put about twelve percent confidence in this is
About Corey, lewandowski WHO i, know and the relationship between
the two of. THEM i don't PUT i put about
twelve percent of value on that because it's not it
doesn't generate a bunch of bad. Headlines she's doing a good,
job So i'm not sure how she ended up at
the top of the list of possible changes.

Speaker 2 (01:21:57):
Here as were going To, christmas let me rewind you
Mentioned pete and he has been in the headlines for
the last couple of, weeks dating back to This narco
boat that was blasted out of the water and then
the apparent directive to shoot it up again and the
survivors or whatever they, were what they. SAW a lot
of it centers around this video that we haven't seen

(01:22:20):
in full. Yet Lucas tomlinson was talking To pete Hegsas
hegseth over the. Weekend this was at The Reagan National
Defense forum After.

Speaker 18 (01:22:29):
Admiral bradley's meetings On Capitol hill with The chairman of
The Joint. Chiefs President trump said he would have no
problem at the full video of the strike is. Released
when can we see that? Video when will you Release we're.

Speaker 19 (01:22:41):
Reviewing it right now to make sure, sources. METHODS i,
mean it's an ongoing operation. TTPs we've got operators out
there doing this right. Now so whatever we were to
decide to, release we'd have to be very responsible about
so we're reviewing that right. Now did you at any
time say that everybody on board should be?

Speaker 5 (01:22:59):
Killed is anybody here from The Washington?

Speaker 2 (01:23:01):
POST i don't know where you get your, sources but they.

Speaker 19 (01:23:04):
Suck of, course not anybody that's been in the situation
room where there's or there's been in the war room,
There secretary's.

Speaker 5 (01:23:13):
Office, no you don't walk in and say.

Speaker 2 (01:23:14):
Kill it's just patently.

Speaker 19 (01:23:16):
Ridiculous it's meant to create a cartoon of me and
the decisions that we make and how we make.

Speaker 3 (01:23:21):
Them just.

Speaker 19 (01:23:21):
Ridiculous The chairman And Admiral bradley and everybody shot it
down immediately because anybody that knows that's not how things.
Go there's a very defined.

Speaker 2 (01:23:30):
Process So Pete, hegseth that's. Him over the, weekend he
also sat Beside President trump in that cabinet meeting last.
Week you got skewerd On snlriday On saturday. Night so
this has been really kind of the dominant story out
of The trump cabinet from the last. Week what do
you make of the standing Of Pete hegseth right?

Speaker 13 (01:23:47):
Now, YEAH a couple real quick. Things that a bigger.
TOPIC i read the same thing about how the people
were pointing out That Pete hexth sat next to the,
president and it was this a sign That trump had
had confidence AND mp maybe it was running out of
confidence with, him et. Cetera and just it's bizarre to.
Me that's where you. Sit this is how the cabinet room. Works,

(01:24:09):
okay the big. Four the vice president sits straight across
from the president at every cabinet, meeting and then the
big four s to their left and the. Right and
that's The secretary Of, defense The secretary Of, state THE
Us Attorney, general AND i forgot the other, one but
The Treasury. Secretary those are the big four and they
sit in the same chairs every single. Time SO i
saw all this commentary, about oh my, goodness what does

(01:24:30):
it mean that he's the head sets sat next to the.
President he sat next the president because that' where you're
supposed to. Sit but, anyway, LOOK i try to cut
through a lot of the. NOISE i Thought pete did
a nice job in that in that press. Conference of,
course he doesn't come across as the as the cartoon
character that you see in the press and so. Forth
he has had some some high high profile missteps and so.

(01:24:51):
Forth but he's not the dithering idiot THAT i think
the media wants to try and make him out to.
Be so what do you try and look? For, then
as you're try to make sense of this and cut
through the, haze watch The. Republicans, well like The republicans
in The house and The, Senate Roger wicker is not
a nut. Job Roger wickers are very Serious republican center

(01:25:12):
and he's head A Foreign affairs in The, senate and
he's he's Pro, trump but he's not you, Know Marjorie
Taylor green. Crazy so he's a serious. Person and If
roger is going to start asking serious, questions that's the
that's the folks you look To Mike turner the same
in The. House you, know not he's Pro, trump but he's.
Not he's not ultra. Maga so when folks like that

(01:25:33):
start asking, questions that's The that's the thing THAT i
Think merit's watching because they're not politically, motivated they're not you,
know they're not out to Make trump look. Bad they're
actually interested in what's what's. Happening SO i will continue
to watch the hearings in both The house and The
senate and see if decent information comes out, because As pete,
said you, know you can't really you can't put much

(01:25:55):
weight these days In New York times And Washington. Post
that's a, shame but that's the way the world.

Speaker 5 (01:25:59):
Is it does turn out that they believe that this
double tap strike was not technically.

Speaker 13 (01:26:06):
Legal what, Happens, well if you, soon for sake of this,
discussion That trump doesn't issue, partons and that's a larger
discussion from another. Day i'm starting to worry a great
deal about blanket. PARTONS i worried about them under, bid
And i'm starting to worry about them more with With.
Trump but if if he doesn't issue a, pardon then
there there could be charges of some. Fashion now would

(01:26:26):
This department Of justice bring charges against against the Sitting
secretary Of? Defense, no but the next one might So,
no it's it's it's a serious. Deal but again it's.
Not it's so serious that you can't jump to any
sorts of. Conclusions this is this is you, know this
is going to be, slow it's going to be hopefully
it will be. Thorough if there's anything there working it.

(01:26:50):
Off If Roger wicker comes, Back Center wicker From mississippi
comes back and, Said, LOOK i looked at the, FILES
i saw the. FILMS i don't think there's anything here
that's as good an. INDICATOR i think as you can
get as where this is. Going watch those Serious republicans
in The house And. Senate see what kind of body
language they're, using what kind of verbiage they're. Using AND
i think that's as good of insight as you're going
to get on this. Situation this Is.

Speaker 3 (01:27:12):
Good Morning beatty with Both thubson And Beth troutman.

Speaker 2 (01:27:18):
Nine two On News talk eleven TEN. Wbt Both thompson
And Beth. Troutman nick mulvaney is on the line as
he is Most, mondays and the weather's a lot better
where he is than WHERE i. Am AND i don't
have to be looking out of his window to know
that it's kind of a, raw, rainy wet morning here In.
Charlotte how's the weather where you?

Speaker 5 (01:27:37):
Are just so we do know the day in the guest.

Speaker 12 (01:27:42):
The?

Speaker 2 (01:27:42):
Day what what do you?

Speaker 13 (01:27:45):
Say? Hey are you?

Speaker 4 (01:27:46):
There?

Speaker 13 (01:27:47):
Yeah, sorry you guys clicked out there for a.

Speaker 2 (01:27:49):
Second, okay, Sorry mick is in Sunny South florida right
now and we're. Not so that's all you really need to,
know BUT i do want to GET i do want
to get to a story over the weekend, that, well
it's not every day That President trump posts a message
directly About. CHARLOTTE i think most people now know the.
STORY a suspect has been charged in A friday night

(01:28:09):
stabbing on a light rail train here In. Charlotte the
suspect charge with five counts of including attempted first degree,
murder assault with a deadly, weapon serious, injury and carrying
a concealed. Weapon according TO, cmpd the male victim was
found with a stab wound just before five pm Near
North Brevard street And east twenty Second, street where the

(01:28:29):
light rail train appeared to have stopped between. Stations of,
course this is happening in addition to what happened back
In august Where Arena zarutzka was murdered on the light rail.
Train and we know all that has come from that,
story even a new law here In North carolina that
was just signed into effect about a week. Ago President

(01:28:51):
trump over the weekend posts this on truth social another
stabbing by an illegal migrant In, Charlotte North. Carolina what's
going on In? Charlotte democrats are destroying it like everything
else piece by. Piece President DONALD. J, Trump, mick what
are your thoughts on this from what you know so?

Speaker 13 (01:29:10):
Far, yeah have we determined it is it is the
person in the country. Illegally i've never been able to
figure if that's the. Case, Yeah, looten this is Gonna
if you want to know why the administration is taking
the dramatic steps that they, are is this this stuff?
Happens AND i got asked the other day ON, tv you,
know why Is trump Targeting democrat run?

Speaker 2 (01:29:29):
Cities?

Speaker 13 (01:29:30):
Like every city Is democrat? RUN i CAN'T i think
there might be, one maybe one In texas given if
it's if It's houston Or dallas LIKE i can't, remember
but all the cities are run By, democrats all of
your MAJOR i think it's the top one hundred cities
or something like. That, So, no this is going to
continue to be a center piece of The trump. Campaign
if people, say, well he's only doing this to, detract you,

(01:29:52):
know to draw attention away from the. Economy, no you,
know when people don't feel safe taking public transfer tation
and it appears that the local government isn't doing anything about,
it doing anything to stop, it then you should expect
that the federal government to step into try and do. Stuff, so,
no it doesn't surprise me the response the presidents. Given in,

(01:30:13):
fact to a certain extent of, surprise it has sort
of muted as it has, been you could understand what
he might take more drastic circumstance action and of the.

Speaker 5 (01:30:22):
Circumstances we've been talking about this story a great deal
on the show this, morning especially In mark's, newscast and
we've been getting texts from some listeners who were wondering
how this person was not targeted BY ice while they
were here During Operation Charlotte's web that we just and
some of, THAT i guess reports are saying is still

(01:30:43):
ongoing here In, charlotte that we've HAD ice here and
some people certainly didn't support, that but the ones who
did support it are wondering how this guy was still
here even though he had been deported according to reports
two different. Times, YEAH i don't, KNOW.

Speaker 13 (01:30:59):
I don't know how TO i don't know how the
the THE ice programs are. Implemented you, know the easy
answer was if you had to sort of, guess was,
well you, know there's so many of, them could get
them all out at one. Time they're still. There clearly
they think there's still more people that they need to focus.
On i'm not sure if that's the that's a fair
question to, ask but it's that it's the second or third.
Question the first question is why why wasn't this this

(01:31:21):
this guy dealt with? Beforehand you, know do you have to?
It is What charlotte's telling is is the city government telling, you,
well we we we can't do. It, so you, know
we don't really want the thorogument. Here but if they're,
here goodness, gracious they need to do a better. Job
that that's that's a, complete you, know abrogation of your
duty as an elected. Official SO i, mean if folks

(01:31:41):
aren't calling for the resignation of somebody In, Charlotte North,
carolina then then then something is something is clearly.

Speaker 2 (01:31:47):
Wrong, well the city council meeting tonight should be, interesting
that is for. Sure Mayor lyles came out with a
statement over the. Weekend the interim director Of katz did as.
Well and we'll find out more about, this but one
thing is for, Sure. Mick and, this of, course with
the backdrop of the uh, uh the the border agents
leaving here about a week and a half. Ago there's

(01:32:09):
been a big question about whether they will come. Back
there's been questioned about where Where President trump will sort
of set his sights next in this idea of coming
in and trying to apprehend. Illegals and it looks Like
charlotte might have just become the, next, uh the next
place to return on the on the.

Speaker 13 (01:32:25):
List if that, happens could could you blame? THEM i,
mean you, KNOW i got two kids that live in Downtown,
charlotte And i'm sitting here thinking, now is it's safe
for them to go on on the light? Rail and
that's the that's the conversation coups that that started months
ago when that that woman got staffed to. Death but i,
mean listen for. Me wants the shame on on you
for me. Twice And i'm not sure why any anybody

(01:32:48):
would get on the. Train, maybe of course this goes.
Back good's, gracious we can go back and have a
conversation by the train going back what twenty? Years BO
i THINK i need to talk about this. ONE i
was in local real estate, development but that's that's here or. There,
Look charlott's on the map for all the wrong. Reasons
and we got to figure out a way to get
out of.

Speaker 3 (01:33:05):
It this Is Good MORNING bt.

Speaker 2 (01:33:10):

i did. This let's talk About Marjorie Taylor.

Speaker 13 (01:33:43):
Green now that WE'RE, fm now THE, FM i think
we might be able to do the show from.

Speaker 5 (01:33:46):
Here, hey, hey now there is a SHOW i can get.
Behind m.

Speaker 2 (01:33:53):
Your your, words your words and are going to be.
PROPHETIC i can feel. It, so speaking of, words last
night on Sixty, Minutes Marjorie Taylor green sitting down With Leslie,
stall first time she's done an extensive interview since she
made her big announcement that she is Quitting.

Speaker 20 (01:34:09):
Congress So i'm going to ask you straight, out did you?
Surrender Did Donald trump run you out of?

Speaker 5 (01:34:16):
Town, no not at.

Speaker 21 (01:34:18):
All, Actually, leslie it's more like this IS i said
in my, STATEMENT i will be no one's battered, wife
And i'm in it AND i won't allow the system
to abuse me.

Speaker 22 (01:34:31):
Anymore you really feel. Abused you. Know he did come
after you pretty. Hard he called you a.

Speaker 20 (01:34:36):
Lunatic i'm. Quoting he, said all she does is, complain,
complain complain in, caps and then he called you a.

Speaker 22 (01:34:42):
Trader so he hit you back.

Speaker 21 (01:34:45):
Too, yes he did this in the same time span
Where President trump brought in the Al qaeda leader that
was wanted by THE us, government who is now the
president Of. Syria then within a week he brought in
and The Crown PRINCE nbs who murdered An american, journalist
and then he brought in the newly Elected democrat socialist

(01:35:08):
mayor Of New. York that was the time span that
he called me a.

Speaker 22 (01:35:12):
Trader you decided not to stay and. Fight you decided to.

Speaker 21 (01:35:18):
Give in after A President trump called me a. TRADER
i got a pipe bomb threat on my, house and
THEN i got several direct death threats on.

Speaker 22 (01:35:28):
My, son on your, son on my.

Speaker 20 (01:35:30):
Son you say The president put your life in, danger
you blame, Him you say he fueled a hot bed
of threats against, me and that you blame him for
the threats against your.

Speaker 21 (01:35:43):
Son the subject line for the direct death threats on
my son was his, Words Marjorie Trader, green those are
death threats you directly fueled By President. Trump AND i told,
HIM i told Jd, VANCE i told them all sent
those directly to. Them again response Jd vance replied back to,

(01:36:03):
me we'll look into. IT i got response back From
President trump THAT i will keep. Private but it wasn't very.
Nice give us a hint of what The president. Said
it was extremely.

Speaker 2 (01:36:15):
Unkind, Okay so that's a bit of her explanation as
to why she came to this. Decision did you see
this last? Night have you been watching this back and?
Forth and what are your?

Speaker 13 (01:36:27):
Thoughts, No i'd rather stab myself and the eye with
a fork and Watch Marjorie Taylor green on. Television the
Look i'm hoping her fifteen minutes is about. Finished you,
know now that she's Anti, trump the media loves. Her
but you, know back before when she was pitching QAnon
theories and TALKING i think was she the one talking

(01:36:47):
About jewish space lasers controlling our minds or something like.
That you, know, look this is this is who we
elect these. Days this is this is by the, way
this is who people who are running the. Country So
I'm i'm all for, Reform i'm all for seeing the
air of your, ways And i'm all for personal. Growth
so if this is legitimate and she's having, That god bless,

(01:37:08):
HER i think that's absolutely. WONDERFUL i don't buy it
for a. Second she's doing this because she's an absolute
addict when it comes to, media and she wants to be,
famous and she's trying to run for something, else, so you,
know AND cbs is playing right into. IT i don't
know what party she runs. AT i don't know, what
but BUT i don't think it makes a difference these.
Days so, look it's. Entertainment it's not. News she's not news,

(01:37:31):
worthy but it's you, know you sort of like watch
this like you'll watch a train. Wreck you don't want
to watch, it but you can't turn.

Speaker 5 (01:37:37):
Away what did you make of the content of that
answer that we just. Played you know that that the
president called her a trader and then it sounded like
what she was implying by who he has invited to
The White. House it sounded like she was implying that
she believes he IS.

Speaker 13 (01:37:53):
I don't know about. THAT i think the question, is
how CAN i be a trader When i've done, this, this,
this and, this but you still bring these other folks
in here who are, clearly at least in the, past
have have either been enemies of The United states or
have done things against the interests of The United. STATES
i think that's a that's a fair discussion to. Have
but this is A this is a, person though best for,

(01:38:14):
me who has zero, credibility, zero, none. Whatsoever i'm not
SURE i believe anything that she. Says i'm not SURE
i believe her when she says she's getting the death?
Threats could she? Sure AND i hope she's. Not i'm
not SURE i believe her when she says That Donald
trump sent her a personal, message et, cetera et. Cetera
this is it's it's it's it is A it'd be
a great debate to, Have, okay if the person who

(01:38:37):
was being attacked By Donald trump was someone who was,
Reasonable but this is this is this is not, again
this go back to the study How Marjorie Taylor green
ended up on the national stage in the first, place
and it wasn't anything that anybody you know should be proud.

Speaker 2 (01:38:52):
Of, Okay so to that, point there was a moment
of the conversation last night Where Leslie stall went back
to some things That Marjorie Taylor green has said in the,
past and then reflecting on things she said in recent.

Speaker 20 (01:39:05):
Weeks green has built her reputation on feisty combat and inflammatory,
insults like Calling President Joe biden a liar during the
twenty twenty Three state of The.

Speaker 22 (01:39:18):
Union it's been five years of almost constant.

Speaker 5 (01:39:22):
DRAMA i think your fake eyelashes are messing.

Speaker 20 (01:39:25):
Up with, her adding fuel to the nation's loss of.
Civility then three weeks, ago she went ON cnn with
a surprise A Maya kulpa AND.

Speaker 21 (01:39:37):
I would like to say, Humbly i'm sorry for taking
part in the toxic, politics but it became clear.

Speaker 22 (01:39:46):
To us that she hasn't entirely lost her appetite for.

Speaker 21 (01:39:50):
Combat it's the most toxic political culture and it's not
helping The.

Speaker 22 (01:39:57):
America but you contributed to. That you you you were
out there pounding insulting.

Speaker 21 (01:40:02):
People, leslie you've contributed to it as well with your Own,
yes your, accusatory just like you did just.

Speaker 22 (01:40:09):
THEN i know you're accusing, me But i'm, smart amazing.

Speaker 20 (01:40:13):
ME i am.

Speaker 22 (01:40:13):
Acute but we don't have to accuse one. ANOTHER i
want you to respond to.

Speaker 20 (01:40:18):
What you have done in terms of insulting, people yelling at,
people and then Saying.

Speaker 5 (01:40:24):
I'd like for you to respond for.

Speaker 22 (01:40:26):
THAT i don't know you can.

Speaker 21 (01:40:27):
RESPOND i don't insult you, do and the way you
question and you, are you're accusing me right.

Speaker 2 (01:40:33):
NOW i know that you didn't really want to listen
to more of that, interview but it sort of played
into what you were talking, about SO i thought it
was appropriate to the. Conversation, yeah you.

Speaker 13 (01:40:42):
Know, LOOK i feel sort of the same way ABOUT
mtg AS i do About Jake. Tapper you, Know jake
FROM cnn wrote this, book and you know he's pushing the,
book was absolutely just hawking the book anywhere he could
about six months ago about The biden, years but about
oh my, GOODNESS i cannot believe can you believe? It
that the media didn't Cover Joe biden's mental decline when

(01:41:05):
he was the one doing exactly, that and then all
of a, sudden he wants you to think that, he's you,
know a savior because he's the, one you, know writing
a book about. It And Marjorie Taylor green sitting here
talking about the toxicity of The american The american political
system is Like Jake tapper, saying you, know, LOOK i
can't believe we Miss. Biden these people are just addicted to.

(01:41:26):
Fame they're addicted to the. Media AND i was a
little disappointed that sixty minutes would would would sort of
give a platform, Here but, again they're interested in ratings
and so. FORTH i get. It, look all of these
are fair. Discussions the toxicity we talk about it every
single week In washington is. Real that the threat of
populism is, real the threats of violence against people is,

(01:41:48):
real and it's. Horrible this is not the right person
to be to be to be having that discussion. With
she's not a thought leader on, anything And i'm just,
surprised not so prize disappointed at the media is giving
her that the avenue that they will just now because
she's Anti. Trump you, Know i've seen that again and.
Again the media Hated john McCain until he was Anti,

(01:42:10):
trump and then he died and they give a national.
Funeral so there's a long list of for you want
to be famous in the, media come out Against Donald,
trump and they they will beat a path to your.

Speaker 2 (01:42:18):
Door on that, note we will move on to a different.
TOPIC i really feel about.

Speaker 5 (01:42:23):
This just, hey it's been so long since we talk to.

Speaker 2 (01:42:26):
You we just try to keep as much of the
headlines because quite, frankly like we don't make our final
old judgment on it until we hear what you have to,
say so it has to go through.

Speaker 3 (01:42:36):
You, Right this is good, morning beat.

Speaker 2 (01:42:44):
Final stretch here on A. Monday what A. Monday it
has been Many mondays to. Come nine fifty Three bow
And beth, Here mick mulvaney joins. Us one more segment
here and a few more things to get. To.

Speaker 5 (01:43:00):
Yeah one of the latest stories to make headlines The
Supreme court potentially giving The president of The United states more.
Power this in the case of fire DEMOCRATIC Ftc. Commissioner
now The court is poised to potentially strip long standing
job protections for top agency officials and take that away
From congress and potentially give that power to The president

(01:43:23):
of The United. States having been a member Of, congress
but also having been the Former White House chief Of.
Staff how do you feel about this potential decision and
do you, believe as some of the media would, suggest
that The Supreme court is going to Favor President. Trump
you can get to.

Speaker 18 (01:43:42):
That in a.

Speaker 13 (01:43:42):
SECOND i just got a Text Margor we're going to
go have breakfast after, this so she's coming down.

Speaker 2 (01:43:46):
Anyway, HEY i.

Speaker 5 (01:43:47):
Was trying to move along the conversation.

Speaker 13 (01:43:49):
Here, look this is a fascinating. Topic this deals with independent. Agencies,
okay and this is you could do this For you
could do hours and hours on. This since that courts
have taken this, Up conservatives have looked at it for.
Decades courts have looked at it hundreds of, times dozens of,
times and so. Forth this is about the appropriate role

(01:44:12):
of the executive, branch and the most specifically in the
Present United, states these are what we call these independent.
Agencies THE fcc is one of. Those and the very
short version of the argument that conservatives make is go
look at The constitution and we know What congress, is
we know what the courts, are we know what the president,
is but there's no independent agencies, there and that these

(01:44:33):
are functions are that should be performed by the executive
not by an independent. Agency and it ties into a
wonderful sort of larger discussion about the rise of populism
and why populism is here and why people think like
their government is not accountable to. THEM i do have
familiarity with this BECAUSE i ran an independent agency at THE,
cfpb and what it needs to tell people, is, look

(01:44:56):
if you don't like What i'm, doing, TOUGH i don't
answer to you. Anybody president can't fire, Me congress can't
doesn't fund. ME i could do WHATEVER i want to over.
Here and people don't like, that and they're right.

Speaker 18 (01:45:07):
Not to like.

Speaker 13 (01:45:07):
That so, LOOK i get that it's going to be
pitched as a presidential authority, case and it is really
a presidential authority. Case but this isn't the same thing
As Donald trump. Does Donald trump say abuse his emergency,
powers that that's part of the tariff. Case this is.
Different he goes back all the way to think Called humphrey's,
executor and for the lawyers, listening they know exactly what

(01:45:29):
that is back in the nineteen. Twenties this is a,
long gooing fight AND i think a lot of Our
conservatis are excited about having this.

Speaker 5 (01:45:35):
Debate if the president were given the, power and this
would not just and to be very, clear it would
not just Impact President trump but future presidents as, well
Whether democrats Or. Republicans does it impact the ability to
INFLUENCE i guess trade and media the way that a
president would would want to by granting approvals of big

(01:45:58):
mergers and you, know giving walls street favors. In does
it allow for more? Corruption And i'm not just saying
like again that not just this. Presidency i'm talking all
presidencies from here on.

Speaker 13 (01:46:10):
Out it's an absolutely fair, question AND i know how
it's going to be. Pitched but as the lawyer and
me is sitting, there, going, wow that's. RIGHT i guess
you get the president all this, authority maybe he can
just give stuff to his friends and not give.

Speaker 18 (01:46:23):
It to his.

Speaker 13 (01:46:23):
Enemies but that's always been against the, law and there's
always been the ability to go to the. Courts, again
they happen to be in The constitution and, say, look
this person or this, agency this, executive this power is
acting capriciously and. Arbitrarily you can't do that because it
aviolates your due process and so. Forth So, look there are,
protections there's no question about. It but this is different

(01:46:46):
because the executive agency argument is. Different it's also called
the unitary. Executive it's different than this issue about whether
or Not trump was right to create to declare a
national emergency so that he could put tariffs on us
and such A DUSTIN'S i recognize the fact it's going
to get blended in because it's these are the subtleties
of administrative, law but it's not exactly the same. Thing

(01:47:08):
and as one as someone who is concerned about overreach
of executive AND i absolutely. Am this is one of
those places WHERE i sided with the. EXECUTIVE i ran
an executive. AGENCY i had seventeen hundred people working for,
me AND i was only allowed to hire and fire
seven of. Them that's not right For republican Or democrat.
President that's not. Right when you elect, Somebody republican Or,
democrat you expect them to be able to put in

(01:47:31):
the initiatives the agendas that they ran, on and executive
agencies oftentimes frustrate.

Speaker 2 (01:47:37):
That so back To Marjorie taylor Grit, No i'm just.
Kidding that'll wrap. It we will talk to you. Soon Mick,
