Speaker 1 (00:00):
I'm as human as anyway.
Speaker 2 (00:01):
I wake up every morning and despite not knowing what
to do, I put one foot in front of the
other and I try to make the best foot to night.
Man from me, He's talk eleven ten and ninety nine
three to tell I screw up all the time, but
that is being human, and that's my greatest strength. This
is good Morning, Beauty with both Thompson and Man's trouting.
Speaker 3 (00:33):
Why do birds suddenly.
Speaker 4 (00:39):
Every time you money.
Speaker 5 (00:45):
Just like me.
Speaker 3 (00:48):
The loan to be close to you? Why dude start
fall down from the sky.
Speaker 2 (01:01):
Every time.
Speaker 4 (01:03):
You was a gentleman?
Speaker 6 (01:16):
Make these flamethrowing the show opens, you know, let's launch
into this a million miles per hour. Let's drop it
from the top of the Empire State Building. I'm telling you,
when I made that open, I thought about crashing into
this song. But somehow it fits.
Speaker 7 (01:42):
I think it was Dave Grohl who said that Karen
Carpenter was like the best drummer that he knew.
Speaker 6 (01:51):
Yeah, I didn't know where you were going with that.
I think it was Dave Grohl who said, can we
sound more like this?
Speaker 8 (01:58):
She was?
Speaker 7 (01:59):
I mean, obviously she was a drummer, but oh on,
who needs more horn in the morning, but that she
was one of the best drummers.
Speaker 6 (02:07):
Hang on, go back there. I'm gonna have to roll
that throughout the morning. Here.
Speaker 7 (02:12):
Doesn't it feel good to start a chili Thursday morning?
This way? Doesn't it make you want to sip some coffee?
Speaker 1 (02:17):
And I was doing that anyway, eat a bagel?
Speaker 9 (02:20):
I can't have that.
Speaker 6 (02:22):
I don't know what's going on. The algorithm today is
interesting because you you woke up to this and all
morning long, I've been thinking this and I don't know why,
but sometimes I just got to put it out there
that this is forcing through my veins today. So you're
on the Karen Carpenter.
Speaker 7 (02:42):
Tips you as as usual. I'm the end to your yang.
Speaker 6 (02:47):
All I gotta say is I love it when a
plan comes together. Anyway, back to Karen Carpenter, Yeah, she's
still there.
Speaker 7 (02:54):
Her voice is like cream cheese, it's butter. It's delightful, delicious, creamy, beautiful. Yeah,
all that, that's all of it, Karen Carper. No one
else has has has come around with that kind of
smooth female voice.
Speaker 6 (03:14):
So I saw this yesterday and I thought about you,
and this ties into write what we're doing right now,
because this is your song that you woke up to today,
which goes immediately into a Good Morning Bat Spotify playlist
that as you listen right now, you can tap into
and really hear what's going on in Beth's wake uphead
any day.
Speaker 7 (03:32):
Of the week, and I don't go through a catalog
and select these, I just wake up singing. It just happens.
Speaker 6 (03:39):
But yesterday, why would you even say that, buff am
I right, Steve, wasn't yesterday's Spotify rapped day? Yes where
everybody gets their playlist of the year, and they have
a new.
Speaker 7 (03:49):
Feature, guys that tells you your listening age based on
your listening selection. It tells you listening age.
Speaker 6 (03:58):
I don't know what this is going to do to
that algorithm them.
Speaker 7 (04:00):
I know if people have plugged into the Bath playlist.
Speaker 6 (04:03):
So we're gonna be like ninety six, Steve, do we
get a Spotify rapped for Beth's playlist? Okay? See, I
was thinking about this last night.
Speaker 4 (04:12):
What might that look like?
Speaker 7 (04:13):
Well, finally, because I'm not on Spotify, so this will
give you the closest thing to my what my listening
age and Spotify list rap might be.
Speaker 6 (04:22):
So that is all forthcoming today.
Speaker 7 (04:26):
On see here those drumming skills.
Speaker 1 (04:33):
It's like Alex Matt Halen or something.
Speaker 6 (04:35):
Yeah, good buddy, abudding Alex. But we've got a lot
going on today. I believe that we're going to join
forces at some point today with Brenton Haley Sanders of
kids first, because tomorrow night is the bike drive. The
latest weather intel that I've seen, which means I've just
watched a weather forecast, is that we're looking better tomorrow
(04:57):
night than we were for a little while. Right.
Speaker 7 (04:58):
It might be more dat time, yucky, night time nicer.
Speaker 10 (05:03):
Yeah.
Speaker 6 (05:03):
Yeah, So hopefully by the time we're out there tomorrow night,
and we're gonna be out there full force, the whole
crew welcoming you to one Julian Price Place, hopefully with
your bikes or your trucks of bikes. So it doesn't matter.
Speaker 1 (05:15):
Just bring a bike. That's all you get.
Speaker 7 (05:16):
Come bye, see us, Get some hugs, get some free too,
la chips.
Speaker 6 (05:20):
But we always talk about the and I love the
people that bring the eighteen wheelers full of bikes.
Speaker 7 (05:24):
Oh it's glorious.
Speaker 6 (05:25):
They're highly important. But if you're listening, I think I
just I just have one bike, one bike, is great.
Whatever you can bring, you bring it to one Julian
Price place. And when you walk up and you see
bath and you give us a bike. This is what
you feel in your heart.
Speaker 1 (05:42):
All that in the bag of chips.
Speaker 6 (05:44):
Literally, Hey, and speaking of chips, I think we're gonna
check in with the Man of the Hour tomorrow night,
Ed Billick Right.
Speaker 7 (05:54):
That's the get him.
Speaker 1 (05:55):
There's a college DJ.
Speaker 6 (05:58):
Hey, and this guy, this guy is the reason some
people show up tomorrow night to see Boomer Von. Can
you know that's true?
Speaker 11 (06:06):
I don't know.
Speaker 6 (06:08):
I know it's true.
Speaker 12 (06:09):
That's why I come the incredible, the amazing, the wonderful
Boomer Von Cannon.
Speaker 1 (06:16):
I see you have constructed a new light.
Speaker 7 (06:19):
Now you're talking on the you know fifty thousand.
Speaker 9 (06:24):
You have boom boomsticks.
Speaker 4 (06:30):
This is good morning, beatye.
Speaker 7 (06:38):
See I wish wood with you.
Speaker 8 (06:43):
Well.
Speaker 6 (06:43):
The text line is reacting to this.
Speaker 7 (06:45):
The text line is blowing up over caring Carpenter. We've
gotten a lot of feedback.
Speaker 6 (06:52):
Now, don't hurt me now because this this is low key.
As the kids say, this is low key. One of
my favorite Christmas songs of all time right here.
Speaker 7 (07:02):
Right because her voice is like eggnog. It's creamy and delicious. Bubba,
who is one of my favorite morning texters for.
Speaker 6 (07:09):
The Baba is texting about the carpenters. Yes, he said,
think about that.
Speaker 7 (07:15):
Bubba texted, ah, yes, now we're cooking with the good stuff.
Uh huh, just.
Speaker 6 (07:20):
Show like I can't get the first song you played
out of my head connected with There's something about Mary
that's just always will be the case with that song.
But this this When I was a young and run
to the board for the Christmas show on the weekend
back in the nineties, we played this song. That's where
I heard. I first heard this song on the Christmas
Eve Christmas Day show that we used to run on WBT,
(07:44):
and I thought, I'm a young I'm a young kid,
but I can I can spot a good song when
I hear.
Speaker 7 (07:51):
Oh my mom used to play this song all the time.
Speaker 6 (07:53):
I just said, I could spot a good song when
I hear this. Kid's got the ear for you, right.
Speaker 7 (07:58):
That was I feel like a humble brad nuah huhn.
Speaker 4 (08:03):
Was a good morning bet humble bread.
Speaker 6 (08:06):
Now, if you're new to the show, there are humble
brags like I have from time to time, then you know,
every once in a while Beth gets one.
Speaker 4 (08:13):
Great and call its love and so.
Speaker 6 (08:16):
Yeah, that's not the intro I was looking for. This is,
but I do love that and go.
Speaker 2 (08:21):
That was a good morning, bet humble breath that one
calls for something more. That was a good morning bet chienormous,
nothing humble about it, brag.
Speaker 13 (08:41):
I didn't know how prolific of a drummer she was too. Yeah,
I mean, just she's insanely talented.
Speaker 7 (08:46):
I told you. I think it was David Grohl who
said that he believes that she was the best drummer
in like the music industry, and she would sit and
play the drums whilst singing in that beautiful alto creamy voice.
I know, I keep.
Speaker 6 (09:02):
Saying creamy like eighteen times.
Speaker 7 (09:04):
You know how you just I don't know.
Speaker 6 (09:06):
Would you like some holiday creamy vanilla coke?
Speaker 7 (09:09):
I think that maybe I think other people have to
do this right. Do voices remind you of food? Or
is it only me? But her voice is like creamy soup.
Speaker 14 (09:17):
There's a lot of things. I don't think of it
until nineteen honest.
Speaker 7 (09:20):
Hot chocolate latte.
Speaker 6 (09:24):
Jim sort of left early because he knew I was
going to get around in some politics here.
Speaker 5 (09:28):
I know.
Speaker 7 (09:28):
Instead we're talking about Karen. Karen Carpenter's drumming, drumming skills.
Speaker 6 (09:32):
Karen Carpenter, God rest her soul. She's found her way
onto the show today, and that's always a good thing.
Speaker 7 (09:38):
She always is close to my heart, Karen.
Speaker 6 (09:40):
Yesterday was filing day, or and I should say this
week is filing week. December one was the first day
you could file, and some candidates did. And yesterday was
another day of filings in Raleigh for state office and
federal office for that matter. Because the big rays coming
up in twenty twenty twenty twenty six, of course, is
or twenty twenty eight, Rather is the US Senate race, Yes,
(10:05):
twenty six six verse.
Speaker 7 (10:07):
I just started doing math in my head and I
was like, man, if it's twenty twenty eight, he's filing
super I'm sorry, I'm the twenty twenty six race.
Speaker 6 (10:13):
I'm crossing the streams early y, yes, yes, yes, the
twenty twenty six US Senate race filed now has has
three people of note that have filed for this. Roy
Cooper posting a video from his car yesterday on his
way to file for another office in his career, but
this one, this one kind of hits different.
Speaker 5 (10:30):
He says, I file for office a number of times before,
but this one, this one's really special because we're at
a critical point in time for our state and country
and we need people all over he'll step up and
do whatever they can to try to curb the chaos
(10:51):
in Washington and try to try to help everyday people.
We all have a part in this. People can get
in campaigns, they can give monthly monthly to candidates that
they like. They can make phone calls and text people
and help listen to people in their in their problems.
Speaker 6 (11:16):
That's Roy Cooper from his car yesterday on his way
to make that official. Now on WBT last night, his
likely opponent in the general election, Michael Wattley, former NCGOP
chair and GOP chair overall for the country and endorsed
by President Trump. Michael Wattley filing and talking to Brett
Jensen last night.
Speaker 15 (11:36):
Well, it's very exciting. You know, this is a great
opportunity to have, you know, in a campaign, in a
race where we could go out there and we can
talk about the issues that matter for North Carolina. We
can talk about putting issues on our solutions on the table,
and it's the first time I've done it as a candidate,
(11:57):
but I've been involved in elections for a very long time.
But to me, right now, what we need in North
Carolina is common sense, not crazy. We need to make
sure that we have an economy that's going to work
for everybody in North Carolina. We need policies that are
going to create jobs, that are going to raise wages,
that are going to have regulatory and tax and trade
(12:19):
policies that are going to help as small businesses, our manufacturers,
are farmers, and that we're going to have somebody in
the Senate who's going to fight every day to keep
our kids in our community safe. So when I look
at the issue sets that are facing North Carolina right now,
I'm very excited about what we can do in Washington
(12:40):
and the changes that we can bring to help the
state do better.
Speaker 6 (12:44):
Michael Watley on WBT with Jensen last night. Of course, Whatley,
as I said, has been endorsed by President Trump. And
then there's Don Brown, and will get messages about, hey,
what about Don Brown. Don Brown, of course is in
the primary for the GOP and he was with us
last in July This is back on July twenty eighth
(13:05):
on this show when we said to him, Okay, you're
staying in the race. What about the fact that Watley
has the all powerful Trump endorsement.
Speaker 16 (13:13):
Well, we love President Trump. His policies have been the
best of any president I've ever known. He's as far
as I'm concerned, he's not Rushmore material. But you know,
personal selection is a bigger challenge. Now he's not down
to the ballpark a few times with j. D. Vance
and he head Seth and Marco Rubio. But then at
the end you've got folks like Amarrosa member the Smooch,
Vince Smyrt, Smooth to Muski wasn't name yeah smoot yeah
(13:36):
by Housing Case director. You know, you know Bill Barr.
Some of those folks wrote kiss and tell books against him.
Personal selection is a hard a harder thing than policy.
I'm not suggesting the chairman it's in the category of
those folks. But we're going to help President Trump out
personal selection here in the United State Senate racing. We're
going to get It's like if you're under Christmas tree year,
(13:57):
you've got a box here he's going to open up.
Present's gonna be a good boxing when the Boss's surprise,
President's even better. We're going to give him a senator
that really is going to have his back, and it's
going to have jad Vances back oning into into the
next four years after President Trump's administration leads. And really,
this this Senate race is about the future of the nation.
I mean, we still have a thirty seven trillion dollar
national debt that will take this nation down we don't
(14:19):
get under control. We've got to get serious about policies
from the halls of the United States Senate and the Congress,
and I want to do that. I've got my policy
proposals out already for a deep State Reduction Act. I
want to bring it into the IRS. I want to
end the federal income tax as we know it, and
those policy proposes are on our website at brownfoornc dot com.
I'm not sure the champion's going to come down on
some of those, but it's a very important race. We
(14:41):
respect the president's decision. We respect the President, and we're
going to help him out here with this policy choice
in the US Senate race.
Speaker 6 (14:47):
So there you go. That was his last appearance on
our show, Don Brown, who's running against Michael Watley in
the primary, and Roy Cooper filing yesterday too, and Brown,
for that matter, was the first one of those three
to file this week.
Speaker 7 (14:58):
So here we go, and isn't it crazy how much
the political landscape has changed even since July.
Speaker 6 (15:03):
It's going to be a nasty, expensive race.
Speaker 7 (15:06):
Boogers.
Speaker 11 (15:07):
Yes, you're right, those are those are some expensive boogerst.
Speaker 6 (15:28):
Well, if you mean he's hanging on to talk to
us on the air, Neil has a ticket to ride
seven oh four five, seven eleven ten. Thank you for
waiting patiently on the flight, Neil.
Speaker 8 (15:39):
Good morning, Merry Christmas.
Speaker 7 (15:41):
Merry Christmas.
Speaker 6 (15:42):
Neil, what's up man?
Speaker 17 (15:43):
But no longer.
Speaker 8 (15:44):
It's been good to talk to you guys in a
long time. We finally got some phone service up here.
That was my first concert. I went to the carpenters
and the introduction act was James Taylor, WHOA what? And
this is it? This was at hamp This was at
Hampton Roads and bog My girlfriend really liked that concert
(16:06):
and we really enjoyed ourselves and it was a great show.
It really was.
Speaker 7 (16:09):
It really was that sounds.
Speaker 8 (16:13):
We won't go any partner into that.
Speaker 1 (16:17):
Let's keep it tg okay. I was like, so we
got the second base.
Speaker 18 (16:20):
I was like Neil.
Speaker 6 (16:21):
I was like, Neil made some great music that night.
Speaker 17 (16:23):
Yeah, let's let's.
Speaker 8 (16:25):
Keep it clean now.
Speaker 15 (16:26):
And then Merrick.
Speaker 8 (16:26):
Christmas, I can't be down here, but please go to
John Hancocks. It's her great event, it really is. But
appreciate what you guys.
Speaker 16 (16:35):
Thank you Neil.
Speaker 7 (16:36):
So tell me really quickly. Did Karen Carpenter play the
drums for the concert? You want to?
Speaker 8 (16:41):
Yeah, she played the drums and she sang okay too,
and it was just a great, great show. And it's
a tragic how she ended her life. You know, we're
not eating because that back then. Let's say it was
great music. And James Taylor, this is when he was
first getting started.
Speaker 6 (16:56):
Yeah, I was about to say this is like up
and coming. James Taylor had hair.
Speaker 8 (17:00):
Oh we're talking we're talking nineteen. We're talking nineteen sixty nine,
so our seven.
Speaker 1 (17:10):
Wow.
Speaker 8 (17:10):
And it was a great show too, of course, James Tailler.
Really it sounded still the same, but it was just lovely.
It was excellent. As my first concert.
Speaker 6 (17:19):
It really was, oh a first concert, right there, kidding,
I'm so ja Yes, it was all right, Neil Merry
Christmas Man, thanks for calling Mary.
Speaker 8 (17:27):
Okay, bye bye now Yeah.
Speaker 6 (17:31):
Well that's cool and I mean James. Have you guys
seen James Taylor before?
Speaker 7 (17:34):
Yes?
Speaker 6 (17:35):
In concert?
Speaker 15 (17:36):
Yeah?
Speaker 7 (17:36):
I saw him at the New Coliseum before it was
knocked down. This fella in high school asked me to
go out on a date and it was like our
first date. But we went to James Taylor with his
parents and I fell asleep.
Speaker 1 (17:51):
Because I had had a morning show that ixt day.
Speaker 7 (17:54):
I had had like small ensemble practice that morning before school,
and then I had like cheerleading practice after school, and
then I went to.
Speaker 6 (18:01):
The small ensemble practice. Is that like small us?
Speaker 7 (18:04):
Yeah? So there was the chorus that I was in,
but then you had to audition for this thing called
like small ensemble, and we were like the touring.
Speaker 6 (18:11):
I don't know if you guys know this, but she
used to be in a small ensemble, very busy.
Speaker 7 (18:16):
I tried to keep really busy. I don't know why.
I don't know why, but I fell asleep at the
James Taylor concert because he did seven encourse.
Speaker 12 (18:22):
I had never seen James Taylor in concert till it
was either two or three years ago at the Spectrum
Center down here. We got last minute tickets given to us,
and it was great. I put no expectations, of course,
I know, you know all the songs and but I
was just thinking, this is gonna be sleepy, and it
was a different vibing, going like a regular concert with
It's like it's like going with like your parents' friends.
Speaker 7 (18:42):
Well it's exactly it was.
Speaker 1 (18:43):
But it was a it was fun.
Speaker 12 (18:45):
And you know you Chapel Hill people, Sandra and you,
it's like memories of I love him.
Speaker 7 (18:50):
Well, that's I went in tenth grade, so it was
before I knew that Chapel Hill was going to be
in my future. But I did fall asleep on the
guy's name was Troy. I fell in his fell in
his sleep on his dash shoulder. Weird because his parents
were with us, and I was that's me.
Speaker 1 (19:08):
I bet he's got.
Speaker 6 (19:11):
This is going like Neil's night dish.
Speaker 1 (19:16):
What a close family.
Speaker 7 (19:18):
I was in Great Guys tenth.
Speaker 6 (19:25):
All right, ten before seven on w B T. Used
to take my kids to Monkey Joe's all the time
when they were kids, like little kids. Monkey Joe's one
of those Well I'm probably looking at the wrong person.
Good time at Monkey Joe's anybody else I've heard of,
I've been there.
Speaker 7 (19:44):
Yeah, Monkey was not around when I was a kid.
Speaker 17 (19:47):
And then.
Speaker 14 (19:50):
More of a Chucky Cheese celebration station.
Speaker 7 (19:51):
Yeah, I was more of a show busy pizza place,
show Biz Pizza Place, a.
Speaker 1 (19:56):
Whole different experience.
Speaker 6 (19:57):
Yeah, we we woke up.
Speaker 1 (19:58):
I woke up.
Speaker 6 (19:59):
We grew up in the in the sweet spot for
chuck e Cheese and Showbiz. Like like in the eighties,
they were like at the height of their powers.
Speaker 7 (20:08):
All the animatronic bear band at Showbiz Pizza Place. That's
saying having a birthday party. It was Billy Bob, Billy
Bob in the bear stripe pants. I thought that was
the jam. I was very into it. But now now, guys,
they don't have a bear band. But there's a brand
new slide park coming to Charlotte, And I don't know,
(20:29):
if you don't have kids, can you still go to
the slide park? Am I too oldest slide Slick City
Action Park, which calls itself the world's first indoor dry slide.
This is not like like, this is not like the
Wolf Lodge, the Great Wolfldge water park. It's dry slides,
It's like sliding boards, just big park sliding boards, and
(20:50):
they also have an air yeah, like well, or maybe
they're just super slick. There was there was one of
these in Arizona. Not it wasn't this company, but it
was like this giant tree inside that you would go
into and they had all these different slides that came
out of the tree. And I took my nephews and
I went down the slide, and I swear to all
(21:11):
that they had olive oiled that thing. And I shot
through the tube so fast as sane the Chevy chase.
It took the skin off of my arms because I
got so scared, I was trying to stop myself. I
came down and all the skin was off of the side.
Speaker 1 (21:24):
Shots every time was this a real tree or a
fake tree?
Speaker 7 (21:27):
It was a fake tree. It was an indoor fake tree.
But this is the first North Carolina location for this park.
It's going to be thirty four thousand square feet and
it will serve as a massive, year round destination for
family friendly and immersive entertainment. Eleven slides, including two newly
designed riptide slides, which the company says have the steepest
(21:50):
drop that they've created yet.
Speaker 6 (21:52):
So this is over a ninety five thirty five South
Boulevard in the Carolina Pavilion. Am I thinking right? Is
this over near where celebration station was?
Speaker 9 (22:01):
I think so.
Speaker 7 (22:02):
I think that's right. Yeah, I think that's right. They're
also gonna have two air courts for basketball and dodgeball.
Speaker 13 (22:07):
So are they taking as I'm not having been over
in Pineville in a while, is that driving range still.
Speaker 14 (22:11):
There where the celebration station used to be? They're taking
all that land.
Speaker 12 (22:14):
There's actually two driving ranges over there. There's that little
brewery that Middle James Brewery has one, and then the
other one you're talking about by the car dealership back
there are still there.
Speaker 14 (22:24):
Yeah, okay.
Speaker 6 (22:25):
You know, ventures like this are always interesting because they
come and they go. Like I mentioned Monkey Joe's. When
my kids were of that age to have the birthday
parties at places like that, they were everywhere. There was
one in Independence. There even was one at Park Road
shopping Center for a little bit. And I'd venture to
say they're probably four or five in the region. And
now they're gone, Like I had, I was looking up
(22:46):
were they they were? Just these they were there? They
were these uh.
Speaker 7 (22:49):
Indoor ballpits and ballpits.
Speaker 6 (22:51):
And umpy tamboline thing you know when you when you
have the inflatables at kids birthday parties. Yeah, basically like
those on steroids and a bunch of them. And they
had like a bowling alley and they had like an
arcade and it was like, you know, it was it
just I've talked on the show before about the place
that used to be down across from Carolina place Mall
called Incredible Universe, Yeah, and that it was. It was
(23:13):
one of these places that tried to be everything at once,
Like it had a music store and it had a bookstore,
and it had a McDonald's and it had everything in
under one roof. And I feel like these things come
and go where people try to try to do everything
at once and it almost always doesn't work because you
can't you do all these things, but you don't do
any one of them.
Speaker 7 (23:32):
Well, well, these guys are only doing slides, so I
bet they do slides. Well, I mean other than the
basketball and dodgeball courts for people, but it's it's just
a bunch of slides.
Speaker 6 (23:43):
Well. I remember when Great Wolf Lodge opened.
Speaker 7 (23:45):
And when it came here, a lot of band aids
in the water there.
Speaker 6 (23:48):
But I got to tell you something when we went there.
I remember the first time I went there thinking this,
I don't know this, not quite sure about how this
is going to be. And I love it and I
get it like they do what they do well. But
that's kind of what I'm getting at is if these things,
if these ventures work, they have to be really good
at what they do. You can't just kind of halfway it.
(24:10):
And I wonder. I watched the Monkey Joe's thing happen,
and then I had reason, I don't know, three or
four years ago, long after my kids would would go
to those places. But I said, I wonder if that
place is still around. And there may be a couple
in the country, but they're not not in all the
places they used to be. So obviously the business model
boomed for a little while and then sort of, you know, dissipated.
(24:32):
So I'm interested because I mentioned Celebration Station. That's another
one of those places that was there for a few
years and did well, but then sort of go carts, yeah.
Speaker 1 (24:42):
Go carts, and they had batting cages.
Speaker 12 (24:44):
Yet Celebration Station was the deal.
Speaker 14 (24:49):
They had everything.
Speaker 7 (24:50):
Man, that is so true that you can't find bad.
Speaker 13 (24:52):
But it used to be it was it a celebration
station and then a Chuck E Cheese afterwards, because they've
it's been both of those, and I can't remember in
which order.
Speaker 1 (24:59):
I don't think.
Speaker 6 (25:00):
I don't remember there being a Chuck E Cheese.
Speaker 1 (25:01):
I believe there was a Chuck E Cheese. I had
fifty one. Yeah, maybe it was caramel.
Speaker 14 (25:04):
It was named something else after celebration station. I just
blanket on the name.
Speaker 6 (25:08):
But it's going to be interesting to see if this,
if this sticks, because like Beth says, it's opening up
later this month and it's going to be over there
on South Boulevard and thirty four thousand square feet. Like
you said, I mean, this is not this is not
a tiny little uh chucky cheese size.
Speaker 7 (25:24):
Two of the biggest drop slides that they've had. So
I mean, I would imagine that this is going to
be super fun for the kids.
Speaker 12 (25:31):
I would if I kind of want to do this
where Target is and all that Carolina Pavilion in Pineville
said the one like near forty five.
Speaker 1 (25:39):
I'm trying to picture work.
Speaker 7 (25:40):
I think that it's I think you're right movie theater.
It's over there, off of right off of forty five.
If you get off and it's on the right, it's
that big, gigantic kind of one that has a bunch
of stores that you're like, what is chick?
Speaker 17 (25:52):
Yeah?
Speaker 7 (25:53):
Yeah, I think that's the area where where it is.
Speaker 1 (25:55):
But there's some empty things in there out of business.
Speaker 6 (25:59):
When it comes down to is will it last? Can
it will make a difference? Can it be a smaller
version of Carowins?
Speaker 8 (26:05):
Right?
Speaker 6 (26:05):
I mean you're you're basically trying to appeal to the
clientele that doesn't want to pay the price of a
ticket at Carowins because Carowins does it on. I mean,
that's a six flag zoned operation now, and they you know,
they've been there for years and years, but there have
been smaller places that try to replicate some of it.
And the only place that I know that really has
been able to maintain it is a Great Wolf Fledge
(26:28):
up in Concord Well, and.
Speaker 7 (26:29):
That's because they have a hotel that surrounds it, and
the hotel is its own experience with like treehouse beds
and all that kind of fun stuff.
Speaker 13 (26:35):
It looks like Mark has texted in and said that
it's right by forty five and large strip mall, and
that he's with the contractor that's building it.
Speaker 6 (26:43):
Oh, I want to see what we're talking like right
now he's just texted us like they're standing beside each other.
Possible I call us.
Speaker 7 (26:49):
I feel like Mark should call us and tell us
about the slides, because I feel like slides are freedom.
Speaker 17 (26:54):
Guys.
Speaker 6 (26:55):
Would you go, yeah, even could you go to and
you're a kid, new bike, new slide?
Speaker 7 (27:02):
Slides are freedom. When you go to a theme park,
you can go downhills and stuff, but you have to strap.
In slides, you just go. It's like wind in your hair.
You're free to fly. It's it is the closest you
will get to flying as a kid.
Speaker 12 (27:15):
A picture you walk in the door and there's just
children flying through the air into the walls.
Speaker 1 (27:23):
There's another one. We lost another one.
Speaker 7 (27:25):
I used to love the the whirly like tornado slides.
They were hot metal when we were kids, and they
didn't have safety on the ladders. It's amazing that we're
all still here and it's to be hot.
Speaker 4 (27:36):
You burn your I'm.
Speaker 7 (27:39):
On the metal slide, but it was so fun, you know,
the question slide. It's just cold, all right?
Speaker 6 (27:49):
Mark? Hang on. We got to go to another Mark first.
It's Mark Day here on a Thursday, new Stock eleven
ten WBT.
Speaker 4 (28:00):
I don't know. How do you do? Fellow kids here?
Speaker 6 (28:02):
Good morning? How are you doing all right?
Speaker 4 (28:04):
Sir?
Speaker 2 (28:05):
Good morning from News Talk eleven ten and ninety nine
three w BT.
Speaker 6 (28:10):
Gosh, that's not a good thing. Have you thought about moving?
Speaker 4 (28:14):
This is Good Morning Beat with Bo Thompson and Beth Troutman.
Speaker 7 (28:18):
I found you to my horseshoes again. My horseshoe its.
Speaker 4 (28:22):
Actor I work with me.
Speaker 6 (28:30):
So we're talking about slides seven four five seven eleven ten.
Mark has been patiently waiting on the hotline, Mark, good morning, welcome.
Are you the Mark I think you are?
Speaker 3 (28:45):
No?
Speaker 6 (28:45):
Oh no, wait a minute, wait are you not the
Mark that texted?
Speaker 4 (28:49):
Yes?
Speaker 6 (28:49):
Okay, good, good good.
Speaker 7 (28:51):
So this is what I love is that we now
talk to our text line and end up getting phone calls.
This is delightful, Mark. And have you slid slid down
the slides yet?
Speaker 6 (29:03):
No?
Speaker 16 (29:03):
Nope, because then I would fall right into a concrete
pit at this point.
Speaker 7 (29:07):
Okay, so not fully developed, not fully done yet, but
tell us about what you're working on.
Speaker 16 (29:13):
I mean, it's it is pretty cool. I mean, I'm
fifty nine and man, I can't wait to try these
things out. They go from literally the roof deck all
the way down to the floor. There's the one that
there must be talking about. I didn't know that, but
it drops straight down and then launches you out into
a big air bag.
Speaker 6 (29:33):
What So, if you're just joining us and you may
be wondering what we're talking about, So we mentioned that
Slick City Action Park is coming to South Charlotte. This
is coming to now, Mark, you can help us pinpoint
where this is ninety five thirty five South Boulevard of
the Carolina Pavilion. Give us the bearings on where that is.
Speaker 16 (29:52):
Literally, I mean I drive from Salisbury, so I either
go seventy seven to for eighty five, get off on
South Boulevard and it's immediately get off the exit and
pull into the first strip mall less than a quarter
mile and it's the old It's right next to Target.
It's the old big lot spot.
Speaker 6 (30:10):
Yeah, there used to be a there used to be
again a bunch of stores like a service merchandise I
want to say, might have been there in a circuit seat.
Speaker 1 (30:18):
They had a sports authority at one time.
Speaker 16 (30:20):
Yes, yeah, I mean there's I think there's only two
spaces that are empty over there. Now it's starting to
fill up again.
Speaker 7 (30:26):
So Mark, when do you expect to be able to
try these slides out on your own?
Speaker 16 (30:33):
I'm hoping in the near future. It's it's pretty exciting.
Speaker 4 (30:38):
As you know.
Speaker 16 (30:38):
Honestly, I've watched an these things building. They're all different.
Like I said, you got the one that dropped straight down.
You got this one that that looks like a big
dumps in a big bowl with a hole in the bottom.
You got this corkscrew one, you got this one that
has four lanes that are going down. I mean, it's
it's pretty cool. It'll have food, it's gonna have beverages,
(31:01):
it's gonna have video games. I mean, like I said,
I'm fifty nine. I can't wait to go in there
and play.
Speaker 6 (31:06):
Yeah, no kidding, we need to do the show from there. Yeah,
so it'll fit adults.
Speaker 1 (31:10):
Is not just child sized?
Speaker 16 (31:11):
Ah yeah, I think I think adults are going to
enjoy it.
Speaker 1 (31:14):
They want what's the projected completion.
Speaker 16 (31:18):
Time, Well, they're shooting for like you said, towards the
end of the month. You know, there's always lots of
little things that we got to finish it towards the end.
But I guess you'll have to stay tuned.
Speaker 17 (31:29):
I can't.
Speaker 16 (31:29):
That's that information I can give out.
Speaker 6 (31:31):
No, you, you've gotten more than anybody else has. This
is as we've come to know here. This is a
company that launched in Denver in twenty twenty two, has
corporate offices in Saint Louis and also Nashville. So this
is like a franchise like they do these all across
the country. They know they this is a a product
that has worked in other places.
Speaker 16 (31:48):
Yeah, they have them in I think, like you know,
the larger cities from what I've seen. But yeah, I
think it's gonna be pretty exciting for Charlotte.
Speaker 7 (31:58):
So this is really this that's really cool, Mark, that
you were listening and that you happen to be working
on this project and you are confirming that this will
in fact be a pretty awesome slide experience.
Speaker 16 (32:09):
It's going to be real cool. And I mean I
listen to you guys every morning on my right end.
Speaker 4 (32:15):
Oh thank you. March.
Speaker 6 (32:16):
Never dreamed that you to be part of the first
segment of the Second Hour today, did you.
Speaker 15 (32:21):
Oh?
Speaker 16 (32:21):
I was like driving and I'm like slides. I thought
we were the only ones doing the slide.
Speaker 6 (32:27):
Well, this is great. This is what I love about
this show is we get talking about something, somebody hears
it and can give us sort of the you know,
direct to the source. And so thank you for calling
in today. We need to get his number, Steve, because
maybe we can talk about doing the show there sometime
in twenty twenty six.
Speaker 7 (32:42):
Ye, Mark, you can join us and slide with us.
Speaker 16 (32:45):
That would be great.
Speaker 1 (32:46):
I'm all in there we go, hey, Mark, real quick.
Speaker 14 (32:48):
Chris wants to know if they have adult beverages livations there.
Speaker 16 (32:53):
They haven't given its shown me the menu. I mean,
I don't know if they really I don't know.
Speaker 7 (32:58):
I don't know if they want.
Speaker 14 (32:59):
That's probably probably good to not have that there.
Speaker 1 (33:02):
Chuck Cheese always.
Speaker 16 (33:03):
Younger adult self and I may have use it.
Speaker 1 (33:06):
That could be a bad combination.
Speaker 6 (33:08):
Well well all right, look, well we'll stay in touch
because this is cool. We got the information we were
searching for.
Speaker 16 (33:15):
You guys, have a great day.
Speaker 4 (33:17):
Be good.
Speaker 7 (33:18):
This great.
Speaker 1 (33:18):
We just kind of slid into our DMS.
Speaker 9 (33:22):
That's the Bes.
Speaker 13 (33:22):
The Beth kind of slid in there like the wood Bow.
Both sides.
Speaker 7 (33:30):
But I do, I do love this so much because
I mean, there are stories about this. Axios had the super.
Speaker 6 (33:36):
Pretty slope guys, oh well played.
Speaker 7 (33:38):
But this was the thing that we read about in
Axios and we were wondering what kind of slides. And
then the guy who was like working for the company
that's contracting this job called and told us exactly what
kind of slide.
Speaker 6 (33:50):
It's like the morning we were talking about the Kata
Queen and the guy was riding past the Kata Queen tripwrecks.
Speaker 7 (33:56):
I just can't. It makes me thrilled that we got
to talk to Mark and now that we are the
first ones to know that it has a slide that
goes from the ceiling straight down into an airbag.
Speaker 12 (34:07):
The best would be if that lady called in from
Bo's little childhood soda shop and the excess.
Speaker 9 (34:12):
That was me.
Speaker 1 (34:12):
I wanted the access, the extra. I'll check the extras.
Speaker 7 (34:16):
I remember, are you out there the.
Speaker 6 (34:17):
Extra milkshake man that was mine.
Speaker 12 (34:20):
If you're out there in Bo, Thompson served you a
soda shop thing and he directed the milkshake the shock.
Speaker 7 (34:25):
That you wanted.
Speaker 1 (34:27):
Side of the story, I want the access and when
I started working here.
Speaker 6 (34:32):
This is what I dreamed of being able to pull
that off.
Speaker 16 (34:48):
So hated drums, drum all your friend's humming.
Speaker 7 (34:51):
Yeah, it's a good time, all right.
Speaker 6 (34:55):
We are just hours away now from Hancock's Bikes for Kids,
the thirty second annual Tomorrow Night right here at one
Julian Price Place, sok to race stage. You're coming up
at seven fifty about how the weather's shaping up. We're
going to talk to from kids first, Brenton Haley Sanders
in the eight o'clock hour. But right now, this is
(35:16):
the guy and I do mean this, and Hancock will
tell you the same thing. This is the guy that
spearheads at all Tomorrow Night. We could not do Hancock's
Bikes for Kids without one of the one and only
Ed Billick, who does so many things on this radio station.
You hear them on Carolina Focus on the weekends, and
you hear him with David Chadwick on Sundays, and Ed
is just one of our favorite guys. But Ed is
(35:38):
built for what we do Tomorrow Night.
Speaker 19 (35:40):
And you know what John, I mean, John, I think
of John Hancock, you know, because it is Hancock's Bikes
for Kids. You know, the support systems we have bo
is just incredible, the folks that really step up and
let me just go down through the list. This is
Fredo Lay's nineteenth year of donating their fifty three foot
drop frame trailers hold about three hundred bikes on Without them,
they transport the bikes over to the Kids First warehouse
(36:04):
and they have to dedicated drivers to do that, and
this is an annual thing for them. So nineteen years in,
Dan Cockrell and the ops leadership team over there free too, Lay.
Speaker 6 (36:13):
And then you got sun Belt rentals.
Speaker 19 (36:15):
Without those five light towers, guys, oh yeah, it becomes
like not an amusement park or a festival. It just
really brightens and we need that for safety. So Joey
Weazen and his five.
Speaker 6 (36:26):
Light towers, we're gonna have some heaters tomorrow night too.
Speaker 1 (36:28):
I think we're gonna need those.
Speaker 7 (36:30):
Oh, Ed, did you do that yourself?
Speaker 5 (36:33):
Warm?
Speaker 1 (36:34):
Toasty warm?
Speaker 7 (36:35):
Did you request those? Were you the thoughtful person who
thought that might be necessary to cure you?
Speaker 4 (36:39):
Guys?
Speaker 7 (36:40):
You're the greatest night.
Speaker 6 (36:42):
Edis Bikes for Kids exactly.
Speaker 7 (36:44):
He talks about the support team. Ed Billick is the
support team.
Speaker 6 (36:48):
Guys, And I tell you what then doctor Evan Miller.
He shows up later in the night with the.
Speaker 19 (36:52):
Walmart trailer and that's always a festive look a time,
a lot of photos, a lot of pictures, and all
our Vaultier to really help out, you know, from the station,
from different organizations to transport those bikes out of the
cars and trucks and take take them over to the trailers.
And you know, guys, what's always great is they unexpected,
you know, the people that show up some of the stores,
(37:14):
some of the antique cars. Gym's looking at me. I
remember that one year, Bernie, we had a seventy two
to four Torino Grand Torino. Someone says, we're Starsky and Hutch.
Speaker 1 (37:22):
You know you have all those and.
Speaker 19 (37:24):
It's you folks that you know, donate the bikes that
make it make it enjoyable for us.
Speaker 6 (37:29):
Well, five o'clock tomorrow is when we kick things off,
and we'll be on the air with Brett Winterble Death
and I will be to start the broadcast, and then
throughout the night we're gonna have all the members of
our team on the air and then as usual, we'll
close things out. Zoch you'll be there mar night.
Speaker 1 (37:44):
Well, and the bike started, I know, the on Hares
five his bikes at three start. But yeah, walking on.
Speaker 19 (37:50):
Hats off to the Charlotte Knights and Dan Rikowski. They're
always the ones that kick it off and drop off,
you know, fifteen twenty thirty and take some pictures and
it's no, they always started off, So it's it's predictable.
Speaker 1 (38:01):
Yet it's it's just tradition.
Speaker 7 (38:05):
Always so much fun to watch families come and show
what it show to their young kids, what it means
to give. So many people have stories and these beautiful
memories of coming year after year, and we have to
say to you, Ed, I mean, you just have the
biggest heart and the fact that you put so much
work into organizing the truck to get here, the lights now,
(38:26):
the heaters, and you always bring chips and you just happen, Yes,
but a delightful time. But you always have the biggest
smile on your face and you grab those bits.
Speaker 1 (38:35):
It was impersonating himself.
Speaker 6 (38:37):
He was so great, big voice, bigger heart.
Speaker 7 (38:41):
It's true.
Speaker 6 (38:42):
A famous drop was just created.
Speaker 9 (38:48):
That's going to make its way.
Speaker 6 (38:48):
And so a few logistical things and again, like I said,
we're going to talk to Brent and Haley later in
the show. Dan Rakowski is going to be on the
show tomorrow with us. Handcock will be with us tomorrow.
All ahead of this which gets cranking in the evening,
but we know that people are looking at the forecast
and they're saying, Okay, this does not look good. Now
ed we have done this enough times over the years
(39:11):
that we've done it rainshine, sleet, snow. We know what
to do no matter the weather. That The key is
that as you're listening, you still come see us. Because
even if it's a pouring down raindomorrow night, you don't
have to get out of your car.
Speaker 4 (39:24):
We'll take care of the bike. We'll pull it out.
Speaker 6 (39:26):
Yeah, exactly, exactly. Now, if you want to hug from Beth,
you may have to get out of the car through
the window.
Speaker 7 (39:31):
I can come through the window. I've done that.
Speaker 14 (39:33):
That's going to get inside of your car.
Speaker 1 (39:36):
My body.
Speaker 7 (39:36):
I don't crawl all the way.
Speaker 1 (39:37):
We just doubled the bike drive.
Speaker 6 (39:40):
And also if you can't make it by here, you
can make it too. Belmont Watson Insurance in Belmont is
a bike drop off location. Also, the Kids First of
the Carolina's Store is a drop off location. Yeah, and
all monetary donations can be made payable to kids First
of the Carolinas. Their store is at McMullen Cree Creek
(40:00):
Shop Shopping Center and that is an eighty three twenty
eight Pinevil Matthews Road. We'll give you more information on
that coming up in just a little bit. But if
you want to drop your bikes off in Belmont, uh,
they will be transported here courtesy of garage door doctors.
So you've got a lot of moving parts here. But
the bottom line is ed are we ready for tomorrow night?
Speaker 19 (40:18):
We are absolutely ready and we're excited about it. It's
a way to kick off the Christmas season.
Speaker 14 (40:23):
It's what we do here.
Speaker 12 (40:24):
This is such a great location for too with the horse.
You just pull in, pull out as we should have
thought of this years.
Speaker 1 (40:29):
Ago, right in and we're already here.
Speaker 19 (40:32):
It's safe and it's it's enjoyable and you listeners, you
bring the fun for us, that's for sure.
Speaker 7 (40:37):
Oh man, do you ever it might be a brewery
next door? Oh there is a brewery. Yeah, there's a
you bring the fun for.
Speaker 6 (40:42):
Us to don't encourage the drivers to get loaded. No, yeah,
we said a brewery.
Speaker 1 (40:48):
Yeah a beer.
Speaker 7 (40:50):
Hey counter is right here too, if you want to
get the food at the first Michelin Star restaurant.
Speaker 20 (40:56):
Getting a reservation right So tomorrow night there's our food
guy chiming it.
Speaker 6 (41:01):
Mark, you're gonna be here tomorrow night.
Speaker 1 (41:03):
I do not want to miss it.
Speaker 6 (41:04):
Okay, there we go.
Speaker 1 (41:06):
So so I mean did not committal?
Speaker 6 (41:07):
Yeah, well I was surprised by the questions you're I
do not want to be here. So tomorrow night at
five o'clock is when the broadcast starts. Ed Billock is
our man in charge. John Hancock of course will be
here as well, and boom Ervon Cannon and a little
bit later we'll talk to Ray Stagic about how the
weather is shaping up for this. And like I said,
we'll talk to the people from Kids First, Haley and
(41:30):
Brent next hour. So can you tell we're excited around
here at one Julian for this tomorrow?
Speaker 7 (41:35):
This is this is how it starts to feel like
Christmas is this day?
Speaker 4 (41:38):
Absolutely, this is good morning Beat.
Speaker 6 (41:48):
Seven six on WBT. We just can't quit this slide story.
Speaker 7 (41:54):
It's actually thrilling me to no end. We started talking
about this last hour because Slick City Action Park is
making its way to the Charlotte area, the first location
of its kind in North Carolina. This is a company
that started out in Denver. We were talking about the
fact that it's going to have eleven gigantic slides and
a dodgeball area video games.
Speaker 1 (42:15):
Sounds like a lot wrong. And then dodgeball giant slides.
Speaker 6 (42:20):
There's bucking wrenches.
Speaker 1 (42:22):
Then don't forget the bow and arrow section.
Speaker 7 (42:27):
But then Mark from Fox Contracting called he's working on
this actual location, which is down in Pineville. And then
people have been blowing up our text line with memories,
memories of the slides that have the slides of your
if you will.
Speaker 1 (42:45):
Hereuse slides were embedded.
Speaker 7 (42:46):
I was here, so Christians sent us a text seven
or four five, seven eleven ten driven by Liberty Buick
gmc christian says, high Bow and Beth, I am hearing
you guys talking about slides, and I actually have a comment.
I'm not sure if you guys remember this, but there
used to be an indoor playground in Charlotte called Plaza
Fiesta and they actually had slides. Unfortunately, the place is
(43:07):
no more. I believe they closed in twenty fourteen.
Speaker 6 (43:11):
Well, isn't the place now? A bass pro Shop, isn't
This wasn't Plaza Fiesta if I'm remembering correctly, that mall
that was across the street from Carowins for a long time,
they used.
Speaker 7 (43:21):
To have Fiesta weare. Oh you know what, Oh my gosh,
you're right, and I don't. I never went. I thought
it was a place that sold fiesta ware until you.
Speaker 6 (43:29):
Missed out on the slides because of what you thought
it was.
Speaker 7 (43:31):
I thought if they were selling colorful plates.
Speaker 1 (43:34):
Or by Frugal McDougall's.
Speaker 7 (43:35):
Yes, yeah, frugal McDougall. So what I remember, slide wise
is that gigantic slide that was forever on Independence Boulevard.
It was close to Eastland Mall. It had like four
or five lanes and you'd walk up these rickety rusted steps.
Speaker 1 (43:49):
You see it like from the road you'd be driving over.
Speaker 7 (43:50):
Oh, it was delete talked.
Speaker 6 (43:52):
This may have been one of our earliest conversations because
it may have been the first promo that I ever
made for this show when you joined it, because we
talked about the slides and I gotta find it. I'll
find it during the break because I remember something was
really funny to us. But now now there's so much.
Speaker 17 (44:07):
That's fun.
Speaker 6 (44:07):
There's so much fun funny that I have to sit
so much as happens.
Speaker 7 (44:11):
What just happened in the last four years. But this
slide used to get into like a potato sack. It
was like a burlap sack. How filthy, dirty missed those
things have been. And you would slide down the slide
and you could slide with your friend in the next
lane beside you, and you could race down the slide.
It had like three humps in it.
Speaker 6 (44:27):
Gooney golf near that right.
Speaker 1 (44:28):
I was thinking the same thing, okay, read in my mind.
See this was Zuni golf and a pipe put on
that road, and this was like.
Speaker 6 (44:34):
The first few days of our show.
Speaker 7 (44:36):
Well, and it existed there for a long while after
it closed, and then like part of it collapsed and
then there was like half a slide that just hung
out there. It was just half a slide.
Speaker 1 (44:48):
All the kids made it.
Speaker 6 (44:52):
But I wondered, like you're it's like when you're going
down on the lake and you see like a dock
that's like half half together. Yes, like the slides just
right in the wild.
Speaker 1 (45:01):
Guy, shut it down, Shut it down.
Speaker 19 (45:03):
Just sit in your cars.
Speaker 1 (45:04):
Leap fact like nothing happened.
Speaker 7 (45:06):
But I always thought about this when we drove past
it when I was a kid. I was wondering how
many people at night would go and climb up that
staircase and slide on the slide.
Speaker 1 (45:16):
Yeah, what kind of security twenty four to seven was
around you?
Speaker 7 (45:18):
It was kind of like that church that used to
be across from Did we all survive park?
Speaker 4 (45:22):
How did not?
Speaker 1 (45:23):
I'm telling you that, well not everybody.
Speaker 6 (45:26):
You can't hear from the ones you can't, Jim must
be the voice of the voiceless.
Speaker 1 (45:32):
I didn't see anything. I wasn't there.
Speaker 7 (45:36):
That's the story that I want to hear. Did anybody
out there go to that slide like late at night?
Did you go and like break in once it closed down?
Speaker 6 (45:44):
A very niche question and st down that slide? Did
you break into the slide thirty years ago? But like
a month ago? I would say, that's two niche of
a question. But we got a phone call from the
guy on the lake that rode past the shipwreck of
the Kataba Queen.
Speaker 7 (45:58):
Right, you just don't ever know, and it's you know
the people. We've heard stories about people that tried to
slide down the old church that was across from South Park,
you know the steeple that looked like a slide and
people would try to slide down it on lunch trays.
Speaker 6 (46:10):
You're not wrong. I mean where it's where the snooze is.
Speaker 7 (46:14):
Now, yeah, we've heard that story. So I feel like
somebody out there probably broke into this slide place after
they closed and before the bottom half fell off.
Speaker 6 (46:23):
What's the most unbelievable thing you did in old Charlotte,
That's the question.
Speaker 1 (46:27):
Old Charlotte.
Speaker 6 (46:28):
Old Charlotte places that don't exist anymore. But like you
just said, like like sliding down the quote unquote slide
over there across from South Park Mall.
Speaker 7 (46:36):
I will tell you the most unbelievable thing that I
did in Old Charlotte. We were really bored as teens
in Concords, so we would drive into like uptown Charlotte
and we would just play in the hallways and on
the elevators and the escalators at the Omni what used
to be the Omni, and like slide down the in
between part of the escalators. And now they've put like
little stoppers down. And I think it's because of us,
(46:57):
because of you. I think it's because of us. And
they had a cigarette machine that was one of those
machines that you just put in a dollar and you'd
pull and the cigarettes would fall down. So like they
didn't IDUs.
Speaker 6 (47:09):
Smell like cigarette, that is true, like those machines, Yeah,
they didn't. There's no It's not like you could tell
how old you were. We just had to make sure
no one was watching any bowling alley.
Speaker 7 (47:18):
Any bowling alley where you you could get cigarettes so
you could eat those hotwanes, tickled sausages.
Speaker 1 (47:24):
How many?
Speaker 9 (47:24):
How many?
Speaker 6 (47:25):
How many adults out there had their first cigarette? Not
not me, but I'm just imagining this happening because we
used to go bowling over there all the time, and
they had those cigarette machines all over that place. Yea,
and no one was watching those.
Speaker 12 (47:36):
Nobody people there smoky fingers, using the same bowling balls.
Speaker 1 (47:39):
Yeah, tie those same shoesho.
Speaker 7 (47:41):
You eat nachos and not wash your hands.
Speaker 1 (47:43):
You couldn't help a smell a n ash tray, whether
you had one or not.
Speaker 7 (47:46):
But I think that's why our immune systems are killer,
because all of us were doing all the time. We
were not washing our hands before eating nachos while bowling,
and then we went to Cara wins right and licked
the gum wall at the Carolina side.
Speaker 6 (48:00):
See all of these things that you're mentioning are shows
that we have done. Yes, it's pretty amazing.
Speaker 7 (48:06):
And no one's calling us to tell us that they
slid down that slide.
Speaker 9 (48:09):
Niche.
Speaker 1 (48:09):
How do you say, is a niche topic or a niche?
Speaker 7 (48:12):
I think you could say either. I think you could see.
Speaker 1 (48:14):
Either or either though, either or either.
Speaker 4 (48:18):
This is good morning, bet.
Speaker 6 (48:24):
All right, ten before eight o'clock here on News Talk
eleven ten WBT. We are efforting, linking up with Weather
Channel mediologists Raise Stagic, going to talk about what's happening
tomorrow night and this weekend. A lot of you are
getting set to bring a bike here tomorrow night.
Speaker 1 (48:41):
I know you are.
Speaker 6 (48:41):
I don't have to ask you.
Speaker 7 (48:42):
I know you are, and we can't wait to see you.
I do want to let you know, Bo Thompson, our
our text line has been blowing up. I have not
gotten a text yet from anyone who slid down the
slide near Eastland Mall. But I did get a text
from an unnamed Texter who did lie down.
Speaker 6 (49:00):
The church.
Speaker 7 (49:02):
On a BK tray on a Burger king tray.
Speaker 6 (49:05):
Okay, an anonymous Texter. Yes, well, like the building is gone,
what can they do to you now, It's just it's.
Speaker 7 (49:11):
Just the phone number. They have not yet shared their name,
although I just texted them back you did, I'd love
your name. Texter slid down.
Speaker 6 (49:21):
The church on a burger King tray and that and
that checks out because there's a burger King across the
street from there.
Speaker 8 (49:28):
Yeah.
Speaker 7 (49:29):
Wow, So we have we have found the people who
have gotten into Shenanigans in the uh in in in
the Charlotte area. We also had a gentleman who told
us that he actually painted an office in the Big
Gold Building on Independence which that's kind of fun because
that's kind of historic, that little.
Speaker 6 (49:48):
Building which is still there.
Speaker 7 (49:49):
Yeah, it's still there, but he got to paint an
office there.
Speaker 6 (49:53):
That was back in the day when if you owned
an auto dealership on Independence Boulevard, that's all you said
at the end of themmercial right across from the Big
Gold Building, Yes, or you know, within feet of the
Big Gold Building, and everybody knew where you were. Yes,
then they all moved.
Speaker 7 (50:08):
Somemmer told us. And we've talked about this at Freedom Park.
The train that was at Freedom Park, Summer said, my
daring adventure took place at Freedom Park. I climbed to
the very top of the train and also crossed the
rope bridge. I don't remember the rout bridge.
Speaker 6 (50:21):
Oh, we've talked about this too, the rope bridge at
Freedom Park.
Speaker 7 (50:24):
I remember the train.
Speaker 6 (50:26):
No, this is the rope bridge. Was part of a
festival in the park. Oh oh oh, And I did
the rope bridge. And that's one of those things. Do
you think about, what's the scariest thing you did when
you were a kid. That was one of the first
things that I remember where I was like, wow, like
I feel like I'm starting to, you know, gain a
little independence here, Like I'm up here and this is
(50:46):
kind of scary, and I didn't think that I could
do this.
Speaker 7 (50:49):
Oh see, I think I the scariest thing that I
remember first being scared. And I think I was like three.
I was with because I was with my grandfather passed
away when I was probably four, so it had to
I had to have been three, two or three. How
is that crazy that I remember this my first trip
to tweet see. Oh yeah, and went on the train
(51:11):
and back then they did a whole like Cowboy and
Indians show that they would come on to the train.
And I was convinced as a three year old that
my grandfather was going to get scalped. And he didn't
have hair, so I thought they were just gonna like
take his take his take his skin.
Speaker 6 (51:27):
See I was I was too busy over talking to
Fred Kirby.
Speaker 7 (51:31):
Is that like the weirdest memory, like to have something
that I was sitting because I had watched so many
bugs Bunny cartoons and there was the whole that was
the whole, the whole thing, And I mean that would
have been what nineteen seventy nine, nineteen eighty.
Speaker 6 (51:45):
This is the difference between me and you. Like I
was over talking to the singing cowboy who was on
radio and TV. I didn't care about the riots. I said,
let me talk to the broadcast o.
Speaker 14 (51:52):
People stay away from him.
Speaker 7 (51:55):
I called him Paul, Paul that was and he didn't
have hair, so I was really worried about what they
were going to take.
Speaker 6 (52:01):
Well, wow, you you just hit a memory right there,
because the rope bridge at Freedom Park at Festival in
the Park, of course, that's like you know, they don't
have that all the time. They had that just for
the festival in the park. So it was uh, Now,
if I wish I could go back and see what
it looked like, how big it was then, because you know,
when you were a kid, something seemed so much bigger
than they actually were.
Speaker 7 (52:21):
Oh yes, I mean yes. I remember going back to
a school when I was a little taller than kindergarten
and looking at the tiny desk.
Speaker 6 (52:28):
My desks weren't those small.
Speaker 13 (52:30):
Discovery Place was like that for me when I went
as a kid, it felt so big. But when you
go as an adult with you know, your nieces and nephews,
you're like, it's not that.
Speaker 6 (52:37):
So when you when you walked into the rainforest, you
felt like you were on a different content. I get it, Bernie,
I get it. On the WBT hotline right now, let's
welcome Weather Channel meteorologist Ray Stagic. Good morning, sir, Good morning.
I think, well, really I'm looking morning. I'm looking at
(52:58):
evening tomorrow night. Because our radio station every year has
what we call Hancocks Bikes for kids. It's a bike
drive that we do right out in front of our
station here at one Julian Price Place. Been doing it
for thirty two years now. I will tell you ray
that we've done it so long that we've done it
during every kind of weather. So it's not like we're
gonna do this tomorrow night. We know what we're gonna do,
(53:20):
but we're sort of trying to prepare ourselves and the
listeners for what they will be encountering if they come
out to the station. So we talked earlier in the
week about the second wave of possible winter weather. That was,
you know, you were focusing on on Friday in the
last you know, several hours. It looks to me that
maybe maybe it's gonna happen earlier in the day. What
are we thinking here for tomorrow into tomorrow night?
Speaker 18 (53:42):
Yeah, let's go backwards since you mentioned the event tomorrow evening,
I think we're gonna be okay, a lot of clouds
and the precipitation's over with. So that's the good news
all right.
Speaker 6 (53:52):
Now.
Speaker 18 (53:53):
The bad news is that the leading up to and
sorry I'm a little late, but you know, when there's
snow in the South, everybody wants your attention, right, and
the attention and the attention meters really spiked yesterday when
they went to weather advisories went up. Now they're well
north of Mecklenburg County. They're up in the Triad and
(54:13):
the Triangle, parts of the Triangle around Durham, so Greensboro,
Winston Salem, basically long Eye forty points north. That doesn't
mean we get a cold rain tomorrow. That may not
mix in with a little sleet or freezing rain or
wet snow, But right now doesn't look like accumulations. As
you go north, maybe as you get up seventy seven
or eighty five into areas around Statesville or Lexington, even
(54:38):
places further closer to the advisory, you may have a
better opportunity, especially on some of the side streets, to
maybe accumulate lightly. I mean it's not like, for example,
you've got the advisory for Yatkin, but as you move
into Davy County that it just means you get nothing.
So as you go north and out of the city
of Charlotte, a better opportunit ed to run into some
(55:00):
of that frozen priset. But I don't have much concern
about travel trouble tomorrow morning, except for wet road surfaces
here locally.
Speaker 6 (55:08):
And you say that the rain is going to be
moved out by the time we get into the evening hours.
That's great news. Now how cold is that going to be?
Speaker 18 (55:17):
I think, well, it's going to be a chilly day,
you know, one of those days where we're kind of
wedged in cold there damning. We talked about that at
the beginning of the week. So we'll probably struggle tomorrow
to get to forty degrees actually stay in the thirties,
and then temperatures after sunset probably not plummeting, but we're
probably going to be in the thirties by anywhere from
(55:40):
five to eight o'clock tomorrow evening and then eventually fall over.
And I'd only took about thirty five, so the low
is only thirty five. But I think we're going to
stay around forty and then drop into the upper thirties
of the evening hours. But as I said, the rain's done,
so that's a good thing. But bundle up. Certainly going
to be cold outside.
Speaker 6 (55:56):
Yeah, no question. But look like I said, we have
done this dry in the pouring rain before. That's probably
the hardest scenario to pull it all off. So if
it's just going to be cold, but we're gonna have
precipitation free, that's great news. So very excited about that
and we appreciate you coming on on short notice here. Oh,
no problem, all right man, there is race agic from
(56:18):
the Weather Channel. That's great news.
Speaker 7 (56:20):
Oh my gosh, this is so exciting. We're just going
to be chilly, but that makes it fun. That feels
like Christmas.
Speaker 6 (56:25):
So Beth will hug everybody and stay warm.
Speaker 7 (56:27):
Yep, yep, I'll keep everybody warm. That's what use. The
body to body contact keeps you warm.
Speaker 6 (56:32):
Okay, I'm gonna stop you right there.
Speaker 1 (56:35):
Let me take a wild guess.
Speaker 6 (56:36):
You're not calling to wish for me a good morning morning. Well, no,
it's not exactly a good morning. You have kind of
a situation down here at the squawk the signal. It's
it's gone all walking.
Speaker 4 (56:43):
From News Talk eleven ten and ninety nine three.
Speaker 7 (56:46):
Double bet you didn't get the turbocharger.
Speaker 4 (56:49):
No, I'm also giving out free hug. This is Good
Morning Beat with Bo Thompson at Beth Trout lit.
Speaker 7 (56:56):
Is your receiver in any way connection to the flex capacitor?
Speaker 6 (57:04):
Well, I guess, sort of like the transitive property of
addition or some math problem, we should to congratulate our
friends down the hall at WBTV, since they are a
CBS affiliate and the Cowboys Chiefs game on Thanksgiving will
officially go down as the most watched NFL game of
(57:28):
all time in the regular season. Wow, fifty seven point
two million viewers tuned in on Thanksgiving. Now, we alluded
to the fact that this might be a possibility because
you had Dallas and you had Kansas City, the two
you know, fashion plate teams of the league right now
playing on Thanksgiving in front of an audience that's just
(57:48):
built in right there. But it is indeed true. They
announced yesterday on CBS that fifty seven point two million viewers.
So that's the most viewed regular season game. And that's
not you know, super Bowl playoffs not included there. But
that is in the history of the National Football League
the highest rated game of all time.
Speaker 7 (58:06):
Does that just mean that a lot of people didn't
want to spend time talking to their family.
Speaker 1 (58:11):
You could do both. Both could be true. You could
watch football, well still carry.
Speaker 7 (58:15):
On a conversation, y all, caring on a conversation.
Speaker 6 (58:17):
Whilst I did not hear anything you just said, because
I was watching the game, as I mentioned in that
Sports Dallas and Detroit tonight. So they're staying on a
Thursday schedule, which I don't recall.
Speaker 1 (58:28):
That happening before.
Speaker 12 (58:29):
Maybe it's happened before, but where two Thursday Thanksgiving teams
have had to play the next Thursday.
Speaker 1 (58:35):
That's true and sounds like something East Carolina would do.
Speaker 6 (58:38):
And that old adage that you hear from time to
time that even though the Dallas Cowboys haven't won a
Super Bowl since the nineties, that they still are the
biggest draw in the entire league. This proves it. I
mean it does. And Dallas is playing again tonight, and
every year they're the one team in the league. Maybe
Kansas City falls into this category too, but Kansas City
(58:58):
is in prime time because of all their recent success.
Dallas has been a pretty bad football team for a while,
and they every year get Monday and Thursday and season
openers and all that kind of stuff. But this is why,
you know, those people who love to hate the Cowboys,
you can't deny that they they draw ratings because here's
the here's this is the proof in the pudding right here.
Speaker 1 (59:19):
It was right the whole time.
Speaker 14 (59:20):
It's the brand.
Speaker 7 (59:22):
Well, I mean, the Dallas cupboard cheerleaders were just on
the Today Show yesterday, No way, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Speaker 4 (59:27):
It's.
Speaker 6 (59:30):
While we're talking about the NFL.
Speaker 1 (59:32):
I think you made like to do. I turned to
look at the TV just yesterday.
Speaker 12 (59:34):
Oh really, let me see if they're still Let me
see if they're still lingering in some long.
Speaker 6 (59:38):
Segment right there. So the Panthers are off this week,
and yet they are still on people's bulletin boards. Panthers
play the Saints, not this Sunday, but the following Sunday.
And they still play the Tampa Bay Bucks two times
before the end of the season the regular season. And
what is it's it's the Chiefs, I mean, rather the
Saints and the Bucks coming up this weekend. So Baker
(01:00:01):
Mayfield was asked yesterday, this is pretty interesting here because
you know, it's only going to get more heated from
here between now and when we play them. But Baker
Mayfield was asked about what's going on in Carolina now
that he's left.
Speaker 21 (01:00:11):
I know you're fond of Dave Canalis, Baker, but is
he fisting you off with the job he's doing in
Charlotte right now?
Speaker 9 (01:00:18):
No, we got the Saints this week, Dave can do
what he wants.
Speaker 8 (01:00:22):
Twice.
Speaker 9 (01:00:22):
Yeah, not yet, played Saints this week.
Speaker 6 (01:00:24):
Okay, so Dave, are you are you upset by what's happened?
And in the in the Carolinas that makes no sense.
Speaker 7 (01:00:31):
Wait, I don't understand what what I don't even understand.
Speaker 13 (01:00:35):
What I guess is he upset that that that Davis
having success away from Tampa.
Speaker 7 (01:00:41):
Be happy for a guy's since he kind of revived
his career.
Speaker 6 (01:00:45):
I think it's more he's asking the question that that
Dave is having success with the team that didn't want him,
meaning Baker Mayfield. That's how I that was Obviously that
wasn't frankly well, but he's you know, transmit the property
of edition.
Speaker 12 (01:00:59):
You know when you know, here we go. You started this,
by the way you started this, That's been a great question.
Next week, by the way I know. That's what I mean, Like,
I mean, any player will tell you they're focused on
the opponent this week. They're not going to look ahead
to the next week's opponent and their coach who he's
actually friends with?
Speaker 1 (01:01:17):
And are you mad at him? I want to find
out who this reporter was. That's like the dumbest question.
Speaker 6 (01:01:22):
And again, listen to it, listen to how it has
like a movie character. Let me let me ask you
a question.
Speaker 21 (01:01:27):
I know you're fond of Dave Canalis Baker, but off
with the job he's doing in Charlotte right now.
Speaker 9 (01:01:33):
No, we got the Saints this week, Dave, you can
do what he wants.
Speaker 7 (01:01:36):
He sounded like the fond.
Speaker 18 (01:01:39):
This week.
Speaker 6 (01:01:40):
It's like, Dave, where's Vernon?
Speaker 1 (01:01:45):
I got a question for you? So you're mad, but
hang on, does it grind your gears?
Speaker 15 (01:01:52):
Like?
Speaker 6 (01:01:52):
I know, like, I know that's not We don't play
this week. But this is good. I like to be
in the center of this in December, playing games that
mean something. People are talking trash. This is good.
Speaker 7 (01:02:03):
That's a good point. I love look at look at
bo Thompson being the silver line.
Speaker 6 (01:02:07):
People are talking trash.
Speaker 4 (01:02:08):
This is great.
Speaker 7 (01:02:09):
Best. People are saying that we're gonna bit of team.
Speaker 1 (01:02:11):
What's the word on the street, Jimmy, what are you hearing?
Speaker 22 (01:02:16):
Hey?
Speaker 6 (01:02:20):
Got presence for everybody?
Speaker 18 (01:02:22):
All right?
Speaker 7 (01:02:23):
You're right though, you're right though. The fact that there
is a reporter, whoever this fellow was asking that question,
does well? Does mean?
Speaker 6 (01:02:30):
Does mean that they're playing meaningful games best well, that
we are.
Speaker 7 (01:02:35):
On people's minds, and that it's been a while since
we've been on people's minds.
Speaker 12 (01:02:39):
I also feel like Baker is a history of being
asked the dumbest questions. Yes, like when he was here,
there was a period of time for a couple of games,
and he's shoveling just taller than Bryce. We had batted
passes at the last script and like someone asked him
at one of the press conferences, do you ever practice,
you know, not getting the passes batted down? Yeah, yeah,
we practiced not getting the passes batted down.
Speaker 7 (01:02:57):
Yeah, we practiced being good.
Speaker 12 (01:03:00):
No, I aim for the biggest guy and try to
hit him right in the arm. I mean, he's got
a history of being asked just really whichever team he's
with the dumb.
Speaker 6 (01:03:08):
Question, I'm telling you, I mean December football. That means
something you've got to You've got to beat the two
quarterbacks that were here, Sam Donald and Baker Mayfield twice.
I mean, it's this is this is good. It's it's
so much better than being irrelevant.
Speaker 14 (01:03:22):
The right movies about this kind of stuff. Guys, they
write movies about this.
Speaker 6 (01:03:25):
They were so much better than being the Hornets.
Speaker 12 (01:03:28):
Any given Sunday, I've got a tip I just found
on my computer here from Seattle.
Speaker 1 (01:03:32):
Hey, Yes, Sam Sam Donald, Hey, hey, you pissed at Canalis.
We're having success. That guy's just making the rend.
Speaker 6 (01:03:44):
Sam Sam Donald will say, no, who are you?
Speaker 1 (01:03:47):
I have to look at the tape for a sun
I look at the tape. I can't answer that.
Speaker 6 (01:03:51):
Eight thirteen on WBT Traffic Check right now, Boomer von
can that.
Speaker 22 (01:03:54):
Reporter sounding a little bit like the fawn?
Speaker 6 (01:03:56):
Yes, break out the car over, brush back his hair.
Speaker 22 (01:04:01):
Hey, hey man, hey, at least we're talking about the
panthers this time of year, December, come home.
Speaker 1 (01:04:09):
Man's great to have them.
Speaker 6 (01:04:11):
Okay they go boom, here you go. Huh, sit on
a nerd.
Speaker 9 (01:04:23):
I'm saving that.
Speaker 4 (01:04:26):
This is a water cooler show. Oh, it's the big
audio water cooler.
Speaker 7 (01:04:31):
On this show. We try to give you the facts.
We don't want to tell you what to think. We
want to tell you what to think about.
Speaker 6 (01:04:36):
But we asked that you remain in your seats until
the ride has come to a safe and complete stuff.
Speaker 4 (01:04:41):
Enjoy the rest of your day here at Good Morning
DT with Bo Thompson and Beth Trout.
Speaker 10 (01:04:46):
But the best group of people to have breakfast, wimp
bake up.
Speaker 6 (01:04:49):
You guys are fun. Oh, thank you, Bob Thank you
so much. Warren girls, Rectreia, keep your hands on the handle.
Speaker 4 (01:04:54):
Warms at all fun.
Speaker 6 (01:05:04):
Good morning, Say twenty on WBT. Coming up at a
thirty five, We're going to catch up with Brent and
Haley Sanders of Kids first of the Carolinas ahead of
tomorrow night's Hancock's Bikes for Kids Drive right now, big
day in politics yesterday statewide of course this week as
(01:05:26):
of December first, the first opportunity for candidates to file
for the twenty twenty six election, and the big.
Speaker 7 (01:05:33):
Day and having done, having had a filing day myself,
there is something that feels really celebratory in special and
strange and exciting. And but a lot of these folks
know exactly, especially Roy Cooper, he knows exactly what it
means to file. He has done it multiple times.
Speaker 6 (01:05:52):
Speaking of Roy Cooper, because this now, this next year,
you have a US Senate race and play Roy Cooper
of course, former governor of North Care as he was
driving to file and granted, Roy Cooper's filed for a
lot of things in any way, right so, but the
idea of doing it for a US Senate seat Roy
Cooper was sort of a waxing philosophically about this in
(01:06:12):
a video he posted from.
Speaker 1 (01:06:14):
The car Now.
Speaker 5 (01:06:15):
I file for office a number of times before, but
this one, this one's really special because we're at a
critical point in time for our state and country and
we need people all over he'll step up and do
whatever they can to try to curb the chaos in
(01:06:36):
Washington and try to try to help everyday people.
Speaker 4 (01:06:40):
We all have a part in this.
Speaker 10 (01:06:42):
Uh.
Speaker 5 (01:06:43):
People can get involved in campaigns. They can give monthly
monthly to candidates that that they like. They can make
phone calls and text people and help listen to people
in their in their problems.
Speaker 6 (01:07:00):
Roy Cooper, to your point, Beth, actually we have some
more footage from that.
Speaker 9 (01:07:03):
You don't oscar great.
Speaker 19 (01:07:06):
We got that excited scared feeling like ninety eight percent excited,
two percent scared.
Speaker 9 (01:07:11):
Maybe it's more.
Speaker 17 (01:07:13):
It could be ninety eight percent scared, two percent excited.
Speaker 2 (01:07:15):
But that's what makes it so damns.
Speaker 9 (01:07:17):
Is it so confused?
Speaker 1 (01:07:19):
I can't really figure it out.
Speaker 13 (01:07:21):
Will you make mine really tight because I don't want
to fall out, I mean almost to the point of
cutting off circulation.
Speaker 7 (01:07:27):
So it did sound similar, a little similar. We could
have put music behind Roy. It was we could have
put music behind Roy Cooper and made it more dramatic,
you know, like I filed today. It's different this time,
you know, kind of like a movie trailer. Because he
had I mean, he ran for governor twice, he ran
(01:07:48):
for attorney general. I mean, he is no stranger to
the filing process, to the election process. But even he
was saying, this one is different.
Speaker 1 (01:07:57):
This time. It's personal.
Speaker 7 (01:07:58):
This time it's personal.
Speaker 6 (01:08:00):
You know, Michael Watley is on the GOP side of things.
He is running, He filed yesterday. He was on Breaking
with Brett Jensen last night talking about what's ahead of him.
Speaker 15 (01:08:10):
Well, it's very exciting. You know, this is a great
opportunity to have, you know, in a campaign, in a
race where we can go out there and we can
talk about the issues that matter for North Carolina. We
can talk about putting issues on our solutions on the table.
And it's the first time I've done it as a candidate.
(01:08:30):
But I've been involved in elections for a very long time.
But to me, right now, what we need in North
Carolina is common sense, not crazy. We need to make
sure that we have an economy that's going to work
for everybody in North Carolina. We need policies that are
going to create jobs, that are going to raise wages,
that are going to have regulatory and tax and trade
(01:08:52):
policies that are going to help as small businesses, our manufacturers,
our farmers, and that we're going to have somebody in
Senate who's going to fight every day to keep our
kids in our community state. So when I look at
the issue sets that are facing North Carolina right now,
I'm very excited about what we can do in Washington
(01:09:13):
and the changes that we can bring to help the
state do better.
Speaker 6 (01:09:17):
Okay, so those are the considered front runners. The former
governor of North Carolina, Roy Cooper, and you have the
guy that's gotten the endorsement of President Trump, Michael Wattley,
who used to work for the Republican Party, the head
of the GOP and really anointed by President Trump to
run for this office.
Speaker 7 (01:09:35):
And man just say that having not run, I mean,
I know he hasn't run for office. Before he had
mastered the political SoundBite there. You know, he kind of
set all of the points, he said, all of the
talking points. He got those soundbites in.
Speaker 18 (01:09:48):
Now.
Speaker 6 (01:09:49):
I know that we will get some emails talking about
this saying what about Don Brown.
Speaker 7 (01:09:53):
Yeah, because he's in this race too.
Speaker 6 (01:09:54):
Don Brown actually filed before anybody did this week. He
was the first one that I know of in this
race to file all on the GOP side of things,
going to run in the primary against Michael Wattley. We
have talked to Don Brown in recent days. In fact,
last time he was on the show was in July,
the very end of July, talking about the fact that
Donald Trump, the President, has endorsed his adversary here, Michael Wattley.
(01:10:17):
This is what Don Brown had to say about his
prospects based on that.
Speaker 16 (01:10:21):
Well, we love President Trump. His policies have been the
best of any president I've ever known. He's as far
as I'm concerned, he's not Rushmore material. But you know,
personal selection is a bigger challenge. Now he's not down
to the ballpark a few times with JD. Vance and
he head Seth and Marco Rubio. But then at the
end you've got folks like amirosa member of the Smooch,
Vince Smyra Smooth to Muski, wasn't the yeah smoot yeah
(01:10:43):
my house in case director? You know, you know Bill Barr,
some of those folks who wrote kiss and Tell books
against him. Personal solation is a hard a harder thing
than policy. I'm not suggesting to Chairman it's in the
category of those folks. But we're going to help President
Trump out person else the lection here in the United
State Senate racer we're going to get. It's like if
you're under Christmas Tree year, you've got a box here,
(01:11:05):
he's going to open that. President's going to be a
good box and you opened the Boss. The surprise President's
even better. We're going to give him a senator that
really is going to have his back, and it's going
to have jad Vances back one into into the next
four years after President Trump's administration leads. And really, this
this Senate race is about the future of the nation.
I mean, we still have a thirty seven trillion dollar
national debt that will take this nation down. We don't
(01:11:26):
get under control. We've got to get serious about policies
from the halls of the United States Senate and the Congress.
And I want to do that. I've got my polacy
proposals out already for a Deep State Reduction Act. I
want to bring it into the IRS. I want to
end the federal income tax as we know it, and
those policy proposes are on my website at brownfoornc dot com.
I'm not sure the champion's going to come down on
some of those, but it's a very important race. We
(01:11:49):
respect the president's decision. We respect the president, and we're
going to help him out here with this policy choice
in the US Senate race.
Speaker 6 (01:11:54):
John Brown back in July on this show. So there
you go, filing week and we've all already seen whatley.
He's on board as of yesterday. Roy Cooper, of course,
and Don Brown to start things.
Speaker 7 (01:12:06):
Don Brown totally needs to. I think more politicians need
to do fun political ads. Don Brown needs to lean
into the old ups slogan and be like, what can
Brown do for you?
Speaker 6 (01:12:16):
Well, so wait a minute, back to back to what
you were saying about Roy Cooper. Is this what you
were kind of thinking of not file for office?
Speaker 5 (01:12:24):
Yes times before, but this one's really special.
Speaker 1 (01:12:30):
I'm telling you you got we're at a critical point
in time.
Speaker 4 (01:12:34):
Doesn't it change it completely?
Speaker 5 (01:12:36):
And we need people follow will step up and do
whatever they can too.
Speaker 4 (01:12:42):
I'm telling you, Okay, awesome.
Speaker 20 (01:12:44):
Watch he sounds like he's on drugs there. I mean,
he's talking slower than he normally does.
Speaker 7 (01:12:48):
Mark. I'm here to tell you, though, Bo and I
should be running political political campaigns. Do you see what
we just did for Roy Cooper and the slogan we
just did for Don Brown? Like we could make these
things fun.
Speaker 6 (01:13:01):
It's funny.
Speaker 20 (01:13:02):
Years ago I talked to a guy who was the
chief handler for Governor Cooper and I just said to him,
I said, your boy is a terrible public speaker.
Speaker 6 (01:13:11):
And he goes, yeah, oh wow, He said, yeah, I
know he is. I kind of like Mark's newscast with
this music under I do too.
Speaker 4 (01:13:19):
That's good. This is good boarding bet with Bo Thompson
and Math Troutman.
Speaker 6 (01:13:27):
All right, eight thirty nine on WBT Thursday, December fourth,
the day before the day and by that I mean
the day before the thirty second annual Hancocks Bikes for Kids,
which is on December fifth, which is tomorrow, And we'll
be broadcasting starting at five pm from the Horseshoe from
one Julian Price Place right here in front of where
we broadcast, and hopefully you will come by and bring
(01:13:50):
a bike or two, or thirty or a truckload tomorrow.
You know how it works. I want to bring on
the WBT hotline right now, two very important people. And
without these two we would not have the bike drive
because they, of course are related to the founder of
it all, Sharon Sanders and Wendy Toon Nettie back in
the day. But Sharon Sanders for so many years was
(01:14:12):
the driving force, the founder of Kids First and the
person that made all of this happen. And she passed
away a few years ago and we still miss her,
but we feel like she's with us tomorrow night, and
she would absolutely love what has been carried on by
her husband and her daughter, and that Brent and Hailey
Sanders are joining us on the hotline right now, who
(01:14:33):
have kept Kids First going in the years since Sharon's death,
and I know they'd be so proud of what you
all are doing. But it's that time of year again,
Brent and Haley, welcome back to w BT.
Speaker 10 (01:14:45):
Hey Bo and Beth, how are you hi?
Speaker 7 (01:14:47):
Good morning, We're doing great. How are you doing? I
know that you must be so excited about another spectacular
night tomorrow.
Speaker 10 (01:14:54):
Well I'll tell you and both thanks for all the
great comments and kind words. But this is the whole community,
you guys, The station all of your listeners, Hancock, ed Billet,
Fried lay On, and on, And it's just amazing that
we've been doing this thirty two years together. Kind I
feel like that the bike drive it's kind of become
(01:15:15):
symbolic in it. It really gets the holiday season rolling
into high gear. See what I did there, We're rolling
into high gear, but with bikes. But it's just an
amazing kind of catalyst to this great holiday season in December,
and then it really kicks off our kids first giving
(01:15:37):
season and activities. Our store is open as of a
couple of weeks ago again same place. It's eighty three
twenty eight Pilo Matthews Road and Mullen Creek Parkway. We
actually have two stores because we're going to make sure
we can store all the bikes. And I'll just make
one quick comment that this year has been very challenging
for our community a lot many reasons, but the the
(01:16:00):
suspension of the snap benefits, the government shut down, the
many you know, the hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of
families that we're serving this year has grown and the
needs have grown, and gosh, there it's going to be
so exciting for these children to have their first bike
or maybe their first new bike. That's a that's a
that's a once in a lifetime event. And then they're
(01:16:24):
asking for a lot of things that that are a
little uncommon bear essentrals this year. And Hayley, you may
want to share what we're hearing from a lot of
these families.
Speaker 23 (01:16:34):
Yeah, totally. Hey, Hey boing Beck, thanks thanks for having
us on. I look forward to this time of year
to get to talk to y'all. And of course you're
amazing listeners every time. And so yeah, it's it's been
a it's been a different year. And I feel like
we say this every year, but we're seeing a lot
(01:16:54):
of essentials needed necessities. We've actually seen a lot of
children asking for bedding and socks and just a code
this year. Just gosh, it's cold out. You know, getting
a new coat would be awesome at Christmas. And so
that's what we're seeing this year, and that's the need.
And if anybody has a coat, or you know, some
(01:17:17):
socks or maybe some sheets that aren't open and you
want to donate it to a kid, feel free to
bring it our way tomorrow or drop it at the store,
because it's the need this year and it's because all
of you we can meet those needs.
Speaker 6 (01:17:29):
Ment well, I'm glad you talked about the other needs
because we talk so much about the bike drive and
rightfully so. But you all continue this work well into
the Christmas week and beyond that even and so this
is something that starts tomorrow night for us. It sort
of is the starting point. You all have been working
(01:17:50):
hard already, but Tomorrow night is a big night for
collecting bikes. It's a big night for awareness too, and
so that's why and we will we'll follow up with
you after the bike drive and make sure you guys
have what you need and see what more that you need.
But this is Tomorrow night is kind of the tent
pole night, but it lasts throughout the season. And I'm
glad you mentioned the multiple locations. We should also remind
(01:18:11):
people that if they want to drop a bike off
at Watson Insurance in Belmont, that's three to two East
Cataba Street in Belmont. If you drop a bike off there,
they will deliver the bikes to us. This is thanks
to a garage door doctor. So there are a lot
of different ways that people can donate. And again back
(01:18:31):
to the other donations like monetary donations. People can write
a check to Kids First of the Carolinas too, right, Brent, Yeah,
and this is really cool.
Speaker 10 (01:18:40):
This year we have a newly redesigned website. We want
to make it really efficient for people to learn about us.
It tells a great story of the bike Drive and
the history of the charity and the community and all
the great supporters. But Hayley, you may want to talk
about that a little bit. We've created ways to donate
right on the website very easily, in addition to an
(01:19:01):
Amazon program.
Speaker 8 (01:19:03):
Yeah.
Speaker 23 (01:19:03):
Absolutely, Like you said, Dad, we want to make it
as easy as possible for everyone else to get involved
with Kids First. So we updated the website. It's looked
an awesome and Christmas y and we're really excited and
there's a help you can get involved page and you
can send a check to our po box. You can
send it right through online. You can also go on
(01:19:26):
Amazon and purchase a barbie if you'd like. That'd be awesome.
So you know, there's many ways you can get involved,
and we'd love to just have everybody included with us
this holiday season to make a kid smile.
Speaker 6 (01:19:38):
Well, look, tomorrow night, five o'clock we'll start our broadcast here.
I look forward to seeing both of you, and oh
my gosh, it's like Haley said, it's we get to talk.
I wish it wasn't just in December. We need to
change that. But I always look forward to December because
we get to catch up and find out what's been
going on. And so tomorrow night, Hancock of course will
be with us, Boomer will be with us out there,
(01:19:59):
all of our WB staff ready to go. And the
great news is we just talked to our meteorologist Ray
Stagic at the end of last hour. The forecast update
for tomorrow night is much better than we first anticipated.
The rain and the precipitation and the possible winter stuff
is going to be happening earlier in the day, so
it's going to be cold tomorrow night. But like I
said at the start, Brenton Haley, we've done cold before.
(01:20:22):
We've done it all before, so.
Speaker 10 (01:20:23):
We've done snow, rain, cold. But that's great news, that's
great So we will.
Speaker 6 (01:20:29):
See you guys tomorrow night. I wanted to check in
and just make sure that we had all the t's
crossed and the ies dotted, anything else that we need
to know before.
Speaker 10 (01:20:37):
Then, just thank you and thank your listeners. I think
we're all locked and loaded. Thirty two years, we're about
to get this thing.
Speaker 6 (01:20:43):
Down absolutely well. Thank you Brent, Thanks Haley for calling
in too awesome.
Speaker 23 (01:20:48):
Thank you boen Buck. You guys are amazing.
Speaker 7 (01:20:50):
We can't wait to see you tomorrow.
Speaker 6 (01:20:52):
We'll see you tomorrow night. It's a huge team effort.
Of course. Ed Billock is the guy pulling the sleigh.
He's like Rudolph. He's rutolfh to Hancock. Santa, yes, or
really George, George's Santa.
Speaker 7 (01:21:03):
But that's a brilliant analogy, though, Thank you.
Speaker 1 (01:21:06):
I think George is Mike Blitzon.
Speaker 6 (01:21:10):
George is like George is like the guy that the
guy that was commanding the elves.
Speaker 7 (01:21:15):
He's like he's like the gurm.
Speaker 6 (01:21:17):
He doesn't want to make toys.
Speaker 7 (01:21:19):
He's like to be a Dennis.
Speaker 1 (01:21:22):
George is a good man.
Speaker 6 (01:21:23):
I didn't say he wasn't a good man. I just
thought he was a multitasker.
Speaker 9 (01:21:25):
That's true.
Speaker 7 (01:21:26):
Yeah, he's like doctor.
Speaker 1 (01:21:27):
Christian Yates was what's the elf before he became a
dentist traffic, which was a great career.
Speaker 17 (01:21:35):
Humor.
Speaker 4 (01:21:36):
Good Morning BT, This is good Morning Beat.
Speaker 6 (01:21:45):
News Talk eleven three WBT some door Dash news this morning.
Speaker 7 (01:21:54):
I don't know what to make of this because I
feel like this is going to get just highly confusing.
We all know and probably at some point have used
door Dash at least once to get some kind of
home delivery of.
Speaker 6 (01:22:05):
Food stuffs, a meal of food, happen maker.
Speaker 7 (01:22:12):
I actually I use the Freshmaker Uber eats more than DoorDash.
Speaker 14 (01:22:16):
That's same here, and Beth.
Speaker 7 (01:22:17):
Craig will be he's more of a DoorDash guy. But
I don't even have the DoorDash app. But this might
change it, though, because now DoorDash is expanding its offerings
through its app. Door Dash Reservations Guys expands right now
to the New York market, letting users book hard to
get tables and exclusive dining experiences directly in the app.
(01:22:41):
So no longer will we be saying make a Rezie,
You're going to be saying make a door Dash.
Speaker 6 (01:22:46):
I'm confused, though, I mean, so you use door dash
and they deliver something to your door. In this case,
they're basically saying you're going to use a different app.
Speaker 7 (01:22:55):
Because it's the same one. It's all in the same app.
So I'm guessing there must be like a menu that
you pull down in the door dash apps. You can
say like I want to order food or I actually
want to go to this restaurant. Haven't been able to
get reservations in other apps or outlets.
Speaker 1 (01:23:09):
Maybe they drive you there.
Speaker 7 (01:23:10):
Wouldn't that be fun? Oh my gosh. Uber each should
get into this and they drive you so that you
can have a bottle of wine and not not be
you know, drunk.
Speaker 6 (01:23:19):
Well yeah, But what I'm getting at is the novelty
of using the door Dash or the Uber eats is
that you have some you have it delivered to you
through that app.
Speaker 7 (01:23:29):
Right, and this instead is your door Dash is delivering
a reservation, delivering you an experience.
Speaker 6 (01:23:38):
But when you break that down like like like, there's
some restaurants that did not deliver before those apps. Some
of them did, but a lot of them didn't jump
on board until they saw that how easy the app
made it. But what I'm getting at here is it
is not a new thing for you to use an
online portal or to call and book a reservation.
Speaker 7 (01:24:00):
Right because people use yellp and Rezi.
Speaker 9 (01:24:01):
Yeah.
Speaker 6 (01:24:02):
So what I'm wondering here is do they have a
deal with each of these restaurants, which means that if
you use the door Dash you're going to be more
apt to be able to get that reservation than you
would if you just called or went on the regular
website of the place.
Speaker 7 (01:24:16):
Yes, apparently they do, because they're saying that early users
are saying that you can get coveted spots places that
are hard to get. So maybe because of the deal
of getting you know, offering a delivery service as well,
is giving them a little bit of inside access that
maybe these restaurants are.
Speaker 1 (01:24:35):
Saving goo to counter.
Speaker 7 (01:24:36):
Now maybe we could go to counter when this when
door Dash actually comes into the Charlotte market, and if
you're a door dash user, they also give you more
benefits for using DoorDash to make reservations because each reserve
reservation that you make earns credits toward a future door
Dash order. So if you want to go out on
a Friday night, you can't get reservations at Counter or
(01:24:58):
at Spaghet or at supper Land here in Charlotte, you
could get the reservation because these are you're getting those
exclusive reservations and then you're getting credits for the next
time you want to McMuffin delivered from McDonald's.
Speaker 6 (01:25:11):
That's got to be an interesting deal that they've cut,
because it's got to be. I mean, it makes What
I keep getting back to is what's the what's the
novelty for this? The novelty has got to be that
they have a deal with all of these restaurants now
that this is the place that you're going to get
the best chance of a reservation.
Speaker 7 (01:25:29):
The hard to get reservations. That's how they are marketing this.
And again this is just launching right now a tryout
in the New York City area. But I bet this
is gonna horn in is I don't know if that's
the right term, the horn in on the hone No, no, no, no,
not hone in. I'm talking like elbow at elbow, some
competition out of because.
Speaker 6 (01:25:50):
I'll use my horns to get in horn.
Speaker 7 (01:25:53):
It's going to horn in on the on the American
expresses like the horn the Platinum card and the Chase
Sapphire Card, which they say, you know will get you
the exclusive reservations, will get you these hard to get reservations.
And they're charging now upwards of like six hundred, seven hundred,
eight hundred dollars a year for that credit card. This
(01:26:15):
is gonna this is gonna offer some competition to those services.
Speaker 13 (01:26:18):
I wonder how do they kind of filter out people
that may not be their target clientele, Like if this
is supposed to be like an exclusive restaurant in New
York City, and then you've got, you know, Bob down
the street, who's probably not what I was saying, like,
if Bob is, you know, dressed in his sweatpants and whatnot,
and he's not.
Speaker 1 (01:26:35):
You know, if you still have a regular restaurant rules.
I'm not trying to be a terrible deal with Bob.
Bernie listen, and it could be anybody. Could be Dan,
you know, oh Dan now to Bob, and would be Jim.
Speaker 14 (01:26:50):
Someone who doesn't.
Speaker 7 (01:26:51):
You know nice Well, I bet the restaurants still have
those signs on every restaurant door. They have the sign
that says we have the right to refuse service to anyone.
So I mean, if you're if you're thinking you're gonna
go in rowdy or you know, get an exclusive reservation.
Speaker 1 (01:27:06):
I'm here at the door, dash.
Speaker 6 (01:27:10):
There's gonna be some terrible I'm trying to horn in.
Speaker 1 (01:27:15):
There's a nice table by the bathroom. I think you'll enjoy.
Speaker 9 (01:27:18):
What's that?
Speaker 6 (01:27:18):
All the account tempts commercial? That's all right, Bob is
here right, sorry, Bob's out there, no slander, and Dan's
and Dance and anybody else who wants to listen to
this show.
Speaker 7 (01:27:29):
I'll ask again for what purpose was I brought here
today so I could offer you a job?
Speaker 6 (01:27:33):
I'm asking because I do not think that I am
any less inclined toward beer it comes.
Speaker 4 (01:27:38):
Did you say offer me a job with you?
Speaker 9 (01:27:41):
I thought yours?
Speaker 4 (01:27:42):
From News Talk eleven ten and ninety nine three w BET.
Speaker 6 (01:27:46):
Here's this a couple of four speed be object.
Speaker 4 (01:27:50):
This is Good Morning Beaty with Bo Thompson and Beth trout.
Speaker 1 (01:27:54):
What do you want to do with your life?
Speaker 4 (01:27:58):
I want to rock?
Speaker 6 (01:28:02):
News Talk eleven ten, nine of nine three WBT Bo
Thompson and Beth Troutman from the fifty thousand watt blow
Torch of the South with Big News this morning. Continuing
a longtime tradition, We've got all kinds of giving opportunities
this week. We've got the Bike Drive coming up tomorrow night.
But we have the continuation of something that began several
(01:28:26):
years back with David Chadwick and Pat McCrory and yours truly,
and Beth has jumped aboard here in recent years and
carried the baton with me and David Chadwick and City
of HOPECLT dotorg. I hope you've been to that website recently,
but if not, go there today, go there right now
because City of Hope is back for twenty twenty five.
(01:28:47):
And David Chadwick, the senior pastor at Moments of Hope
Church and the longtime host of the David Chadwick Show. Happy, Happy,
Happy to partner with you once again, my friend.
Speaker 17 (01:28:56):
Well, good morning Bo and Beth. And it's just been
a joy doing this with you guys every year. And
if you could see the smiles on the faces of
the people who are helped by this particular every year December,
cause you would be overjoyed as well, for it really
does help a lot of people.
Speaker 6 (01:29:15):
I am happy to tell you that we have Beth
Troutman the first text from David Chadwick of the season.
Speaker 7 (01:29:23):
I loved getting this this morning, David.
Speaker 6 (01:29:24):
These are our raised to date updates with what the
campaign has raised so far. And so David, why don't
you give us the totals and also explain to listeners
are new to the process, how this all works with
the matching gifts, and where we want to be in the.
Speaker 17 (01:29:38):
End well moments. I hope Church, the church I pastor
has tried to be a generous church from the moment
we were formed, and we gave one hundred thousand dollars
matching gift to two WBT listeners for this cause this
year and the purposes to raise money for feeding kids
in our community. You know, there are food insecurities all
(01:29:59):
around us, particularly in these several vulnerable underserved communities in
Charlotte that we've been able to identify, and we're going
to use it in order to get food to them,
to get food security to them, and also try to
get good food to them because the good food affects
their brains, their ability to study, their ability for upper mobility,
and all of that as well. So we just started
(01:30:22):
this week BO and already we have given to us
two three hundred dollars and we're grateful for that and
we look forward to continuing to grow that amount.
Speaker 7 (01:30:31):
That's what's so remarkable about this as your church matches
dollar for dollar and all of the money stays here
in the community, people can feel confident about what they're
giving for. You know, when it comes to giving, people
want to know that their dollars matter. And in this case,
like you just said, the dollars go to finding good
(01:30:52):
food for these children and making sure that they learn
how to read and know how to effect be effective
parts of a community. Dollar for dollar, that dollar is helping, yeah, Beth.
Speaker 17 (01:31:05):
And one hundred percent of it goes to the kids,
goes to the food, goes to the reading programs. Not
one penny is spent on administrative costs. That's the beauty
of this as well. We have partners we've identified in
these communities and they have their own administrative costs paid for.
So all of this money goes to the kids. And
that's what's so important to me, and I think a
(01:31:25):
lot of people like to know that as well. So again,
one dollar becomes two ten dollars becomes twenty one thousand
dollars becomes two thousand. That's why I like matching gifts.
You know, generous people give matching gifts in order for
a person to feel like my dollar is suddenly doubled.
And this is the case, and in these communities that
are so vulnerable. It's just hard to believe in Charlotte,
(01:31:47):
this new South city that is beaming and growing, that
in this city we have several pockets of just dire
poverty and it is our responsibility to love our neighbor.
I just believe that with all my heart that you know, Jesus,
the one I follow, said you've got two commands, love
God and love your neighbor. You do those two things.
You have a lifetime's worth of work to do. And
this is a way to love our neighbor that we
(01:32:07):
never see that's vulnerable, but we know it's really helping
them and going best. One other statistic that I tell
people regularly is if a kid can't read by the
end of third grade, it is the greatest predictor for
them going to prison. So we have in these communities
several reading programs that are helping them as well. So
this is going for feeding and reading. And again every
dollar is immediately doubled. And if you'll go to CITYOFHOPECLT
(01:32:29):
dot org, you can see the chart there, you can
see the.
Speaker 10 (01:32:32):
Way to give.
Speaker 17 (01:32:32):
It's really really easy. We even take stock donations. We'll
do anything in order to help these kids.
Speaker 6 (01:32:37):
I'm looking at the website right now and I'm struck
by how far we have come with this initiative since
the early days when we were talking here in the studio.
I'm looking at the website that has branched out into
all these different opportunities and examples, and you can see
the partners and like David said, ways to donate. But
everything you could possibly wonder about this initiative that we
(01:33:00):
haven't covered here is on the website and then some
and we mentioned last week, we also have opportunities, David,
for people to see what this campaign has done in
recent years, for example the Barnardsville video that we debuted
last week. This is a very much, living, breathing initiative.
I keep using that word initiative, but it's an important
one because this is happening right now and you can
(01:33:22):
affect change right now.
Speaker 17 (01:33:24):
And we took a one off last year after the
hurricane western North Carolina to help rebuild a community called Barnersville,
North Carolina. It's unincorporated, it did not have access to
the county and state funds like other cities do, so
we just stepped in and raised somewhere around five hundred
and twenty thousand dollars for that community and really bow
and bev it has been rebuilt. If people want to
(01:33:46):
see how their dollars were used last year, we have
a video there that describes it. We think it's really
important to tell our givers that this has been our
success in the past. You can be sure that we
will share with you what it looks like so that
you can feel good about your success right now. And
I think we've raised somewhere in the last five years
since we've been doing this, somewhere around one point three
(01:34:07):
million dollars. And applause to all of WBT listeners because
that's quite an accomplishment.
Speaker 6 (01:34:13):
Well yeah, and when I say living, breathing, that's the
beauty of this. I think each year you sort of
evolve to whatever the need is, and last year it
was certainly Western North Carolina. But every year it's intentional
to try to affect the part of the community that
is in most need of help. And again, we can't
stress it enough that if you want to donate to
a cause that is vetted, to a cause that has
(01:34:36):
a track record of things that you can see and
even in real time, you can follow that dollar from
the point of giving to the point where it affects somebody,
because we do make a point on this show to
come back around and talk to the people that have
been affected by this generosity. So it's a it's a
holiday focused event that we do every year, but it
(01:34:58):
lasts the whole year as far as who it affects. So, David,
it's great to hear your voice. I'm excited about this.
We've got a lot of giving opportunities this week and
that's at the very root of it. You've been working
here for so long and so I that's that's the
best thing we can do with these fifty thousand watts
is use them in places where we can find good opportunities.
Speaker 17 (01:35:19):
Well, thank you, Bo. At the end of the day,
we're all responsible again for loving our neighbor. And a
lot of conversation recently about the US budget and the
snap benefits and all of that, you know, for those
who believe that it is the responsibility of the local
community to take care of its own and for the
church to do a lot of the work that government
has stepped in to do, because the church needs to
(01:35:40):
do that as well. This is an opportunity where the
church and a community partners together for the sake of
getting food to kids, and that is I think an
essential command that.
Speaker 10 (01:35:49):
We have before us.
Speaker 6 (01:35:50):
David, what is coming up on the David Chadwick Show
this weekend.
Speaker 17 (01:35:55):
Well, we're actually interviewing one of the partners where this
money is going. Victor Nicholson on the West side of town,
serves a very vulnerable community there. He works with Jim Noble,
chef Jim Noble, to whom we both love a lot,
and he's going to come on the show with d
John and talk about where this money is going and
give us actual stories of who is being helped by
the benefits of this money. So he'll be an interview
(01:36:16):
this weekend and I think everybody will enjoy him. And
then next week and then the next week on my
Thursday time with you guys, we'll have different one of
the partners in as well.
Speaker 6 (01:36:25):
I also have it on good authority that during the
holiday break, when we are away from the show, Beth Troutman,
this guy, David Chadwick and possibly Marilyn Chadwick might be
making a cameo on this show, but that's just a
rumor at this point.
Speaker 17 (01:36:38):
David, Well, there's something going on around the twenty third
that I think I was asked to come in and
I said, well, I'll do it, and if I can
bring my wife and so we'll come in together and
do your four hours, then I'll have a real empathy
toward you and Beth and what you go through every
single day.
Speaker 7 (01:36:53):
Well, we know the stories that you will tell, especially
with your beautiful, lovely, just golden heart wife. You guys
are going to have a really special show.
Speaker 17 (01:37:02):
Well, she has a bigger heart than I do. We're
thinking about maybe having the listeners call in to share
with us angels stories, which I've done before when I
sub for you guys, and what people just love to
hear those kinds of things because you know, there are
i think, invisible messengers from God who love us and
care for us, and a lot of people have those stories.
Marilyn and I do as well.
Speaker 10 (01:37:21):
Well.
Speaker 6 (01:37:21):
We look forward to that all coming up and again
a City of Hope CLT dot org. You can go
there right now and see the latest of totals and
you can make your donation. All the very easy instructions
are right there for you. Thank you, David, Thank.
Speaker 17 (01:37:36):
You guys, appreciate your partnership and your friendship.
Speaker 7 (01:37:39):
This is good morning BT, you talk eleven, ten, nine
and three WBT. Now, guys, I don't know if you
remember this, but a few days ago I ruined Sir
Steven of Anthony's life by accidentally spoiling Stranger Things.
Speaker 1 (01:38:00):
I remember, well, I very much wize.
Speaker 7 (01:38:03):
Okay, Well, here's the thing. Here's the thing. I don't
believe I said all of the words that you think
that I said.
Speaker 24 (01:38:10):
You said three very specific words. And after you left
that day, Bo and I decided, not decided. We had
a discussion about it, and I said, she said blah
blah blah, and and he looked at me and goes,
I know those are these factoris I did it?
Speaker 7 (01:38:25):
It just sounded like I did. But here's the thing.
Stranger Things has broken records for Netflix at this point,
this final season of Stranger Things, and now they have
finally come out with the release dates for the finale finale,
the Whole Kitten Kaboodle Shebang in theaters, so you'll be
able to watch it on Netflix as well, but you
(01:38:47):
can also go to theaters to experience this finale a theater,
a theata.
Speaker 24 (01:38:54):
That's the kind of thing that like when when we
had ocon likes to say yes, Well, we had Shoan
O'Connell on what two weeks ago or a week ago
talking about Wicked, when he said, like, you know, to
go to the theater and truly see something on the
big screen amongst a crowd of people, like that's it
is one of those things with a finale like this,
(01:39:15):
which is going to be two hours and five minutes,
I think was they said.
Speaker 4 (01:39:18):
The runtime on it.
Speaker 7 (01:39:19):
It's longer than some films, you know, longer than some movies.
Speaker 24 (01:39:22):
It is, And it's one of those shows that has
the audience and has the production value that you, yeah,
you might want to actually go see this in a theater.
Speaker 7 (01:39:30):
Well, it's going to be screened in more than five
hundred movie theaters across the US and Canada on New
Year's Eve and New Year's Day, which this sounds like
a better way to spend it than you know, at
some like I don't know, real weird, crowded place. This
series finale will play in more than a dozen theaters
across North and South Carolina.
Speaker 6 (01:39:50):
AMC Carolina Pavilion that's on South Boulevard and also at
the Regal Stonecrest at Piper Glenn. So those are the
I think those are the two biggest theaters in Charlotte,
if I'm not mistaken, If not among the biggest, those
are the two places in Charlotte. Now you've got places
in Asheville, Kerry, Concord, Durham, Fayetteville, Hickory, Raleigh, Wilmington, South
(01:40:13):
Carolina as well. So now what I don't know as
I'm speaking to you right now is what the number
of available tickets are. Because you know, you can go
on fandango or whatever and you can see which seats
are taken. And I mean, that's to me, that's a
whole nother story. But that's revolutionized the whole movie going process.
Speaker 7 (01:40:30):
Except for me, I end up in the wrong theater
and with the But.
Speaker 6 (01:40:34):
At least, at least at least you don't have to
go to the theater and get in line in front
of the theater.
Speaker 7 (01:40:39):
That's true.
Speaker 6 (01:40:40):
You don't get a good seat. Like if you buy
a good seat and it's available, you're gonna get that seat.
And it allows BO to reserve an entire road to himself.
This is true.
Speaker 7 (01:40:48):
So here's what I really want to get to. Though
I know that I messed things up for Steve by
not saying what you guys thought I said. But no,
you guys just thought I said it just sounded like
I said it. But Steve has now seen the first
two episodes of this final season, right, So.
Speaker 24 (01:41:04):
There's four available now, right, and I was able to
get through two of them yesterday. So yes, I've I
at least kind of sort of understand how you ruined.
Speaker 9 (01:41:16):
It for me.
Speaker 25 (01:41:18):
I really didn't say, oh nice, but you know so, yeah,
so I haven't Please don't tell me anything that happens
in episodes three and four, Okay, but yes, episodes one
and two I've now seen.
Speaker 7 (01:41:30):
There's a really good shot of food.
Speaker 1 (01:41:32):
I just gonna call from.
Speaker 13 (01:41:33):
Tim said, uh, why don't you go ahead and try
to get a ticket somewhere beth Or.
Speaker 6 (01:41:38):
Sold out already sold out for Stranger.
Speaker 14 (01:41:41):
On Fandango, He said, you can't even find a ticket.
Speaker 6 (01:41:43):
I was worried about this because I have not looked
at Fandango yet. And yeah, I mean that's two theaters,
and you know how many how many showings can you
have during the day? Right?
Speaker 7 (01:41:53):
Well, and this has that the main showing is at
eight pm.
Speaker 6 (01:41:56):
Well that's because otherwise that would make They've used on
Netflix at eight pm, so they're not going to put
it before Netflix at that So.
Speaker 7 (01:42:03):
You can still see it on Netflix. So if you
can't get into the theater for the experience, it's fine.
Speaker 6 (01:42:07):
Yeah, yeah, we should stipulate that it is not It's
not like it's gonna be on Netflix. So you can
watch it at your house if you want to. They
just have the opportunity to see it on the big screen, right,
And there's kind of a precedent for this.
Speaker 24 (01:42:18):
We were talking about it the other day, like, I
as the big Doctor Who fan that I am. When
the fiftieth anniversary of Doctor Who happened, they did a
worldwide premiere. It was at the exact same time everywhere
across the world, so I boilers and you could go
and see it in theaters or on TV, like on
BBC or BBC America here in the States, but you
(01:42:38):
could also go to a movie theater and see it
on the big screen.
Speaker 4 (01:42:41):
I love that.
Speaker 7 (01:42:42):
I work with so many doorkeeper guys. It just makes
me so thrilled. It really does all of.
Speaker 6 (01:42:48):
The best everything.
Speaker 18 (01:42:50):
Bernie.
Speaker 7 (01:42:51):
Oh, thanks Mark, so great.
Speaker 4 (01:42:54):
I love it.
Speaker 7 (01:42:54):
You guys are my favorite people.
Speaker 6 (01:42:56):
Bernie hang on. Mark Garrison just called burning a dork.
I don't know, is that a badge of honor or
high school guess?
Speaker 7 (01:43:09):
Oh, it's totally a badge of honors. Oh yeah, dork
said the best.
Speaker 1 (01:43:12):
He's a great guy.
Speaker 6 (01:43:13):
Nine eight always like to Smurf's betters, the snorks, Yeah,
the snorts.
Speaker 4 (01:43:18):
Sure, Okay, good morning, This is good morning.
Speaker 6 (01:43:22):
Bet we're feeling festive around here at one Julian Price Place.
We'll get the bike drive coming up tomorrow night. That'll
be at five o'clock. Special coverage starts on WBT five
to nine pm, So yours truly, Beth Troutman, Brett Winnable
will kick things off just past five pm, and then
(01:43:45):
we'll be here to bring it home. I think TJ
is going to be in the mix there, and of
course Vince and Pete and Jensen and Garrison and the
whole crew. Hoping that you, as you listen to this
radio station right now, will come out and be a
part of a thirty two year tradition of getting kids
bikes this holiday season.
Speaker 7 (01:44:03):
We're so excited to be part of it, and we
can't wait to see all of you.
Speaker 6 (01:44:08):
Now a tradition not quite as old as that one.
In fact, I'm here to announce right at this moment,
this is breaking Christmas news. We have year number two.
They've signed the deal. I've been working behind the scenes
to make this happen.
Speaker 7 (01:44:22):
You know, Santa inked it for us.
Speaker 6 (01:44:23):
There was a standoff around Halloween and we weren't sure
if this was going to happen. But now I'm here
to tell you that we've inked the deal. That coming
up for Christmas Eve Christmas Day twenty twenty five, the
return of Boomer von Cannon's Holiday Jukebox, the boom.
Speaker 7 (01:44:40):
Box, The Holiday boom Box.
Speaker 6 (01:44:42):
Yeah, Boomer, you ready for this? Oh there, get your
quarters ready.
Speaker 22 (01:44:46):
We're going to load the jukebox.
Speaker 6 (01:44:48):
The Holiday boom Box. I was remembering we did the
Holiday Jukebox on this show a few years ago, and
then we said, we've got to bring Boomer in this
and like put it on steroids, and we did. We'll
put it on the boom Box the boom Box.
Speaker 1 (01:44:59):
Oh, I love it, and thank you so much.
Speaker 22 (01:45:01):
I'm looking forward to this.
Speaker 14 (01:45:02):
Hey, Boomer, can you walk up a Creed song for
me for the boombox?
Speaker 9 (01:45:05):
That'd be great.
Speaker 7 (01:45:05):
Does Creed have a Christmas album, bro cleav.
Speaker 9 (01:45:11):
That's close enough close and sorry.
Speaker 6 (01:45:14):
So Boomer is this is if you're new to the station. Gosh,
I hope you're not, but if you're new to what
we are doing over the holidays. So Boomer went into
a studio with you and me and so many of
the whole team is involved here. But it's it's Boomer's
mothership and it's als joined us, everybody playing holiday tunes
and just having a good time. Basically, it's the kind
(01:45:35):
of thing that you can put on in the background
while you're getting ready for your holidays, while you're rolling.
Speaker 7 (01:45:40):
Out the dough, making the pies, making the figgy pudding,
sipping the eggnog, sipping the eggnog like that little drunken
raccoon in Virginia. So at raccoon, did you see that
that he did, Boomer? He went for the room and
the eggnog.
Speaker 22 (01:45:55):
That raccoon said, in all these years, I went into
trash cans looking for something here.
Speaker 7 (01:45:59):
All I needed the liquors, trash man.
Speaker 6 (01:46:02):
So you can turn on WBT on Christmas Eve and
this replays on Christmas Day. But you will hear, obviously
you'll hear Boomer doing the the old school radio.
Speaker 4 (01:46:12):
Walk ups.
Speaker 6 (01:46:13):
Thank you, but you'll hear all of us. We all
join him at one time or another. And by that
I even Nick Craig is part of this. Mat TJ
is part of this. He just doesn't know it.
Speaker 7 (01:46:22):
Ye, he doesn't know yet that he has to be
part of this, because.
Speaker 6 (01:46:25):
You know, this is where I turn into an elf.
I'm one of I'm Boomer's elf that helps put it together.
Speaker 22 (01:46:30):
Look, I mean, thank you make this happen, the one
behind it.
Speaker 6 (01:46:33):
I just I just channel you. Man, No, I'm just
hanging out.
Speaker 22 (01:46:36):
You're the man cut this thing going on.
Speaker 6 (01:46:38):
When our program, our program director Mike Schaefer came to
me last year and says, hey, I have an idea,
and basically he said Boomer. And then I said, okay,
whatever lever follows Boomer, let's do it. But it is official.
And so Boomer is getting ready. And I hope that
you all will turn on WBT on Christmas Eve and
Christmas Day and hear the twenty twenty five edition of
the Holiday Boom.
Speaker 22 (01:46:58):
Boss Man. You know that's three weeks from today Christmas Day?
Speaker 7 (01:47:03):
Man, three, how how are we already here?
Speaker 1 (01:47:06):
We'll get in a holiday spirit for sure.
Speaker 6 (01:47:08):
Three weeks from today. I'm glad you told me that
I got a lot of shopping to do. If Rock
and Roy would say, is more than all right, it's
at a sight.
Speaker 5 (01:47:22):
Of what is it?
Speaker 14 (01:47:23):
Made you aw?
Speaker 6 (01:47:24):
It's a Kringle three thousand, a five hundred reindeer power
jet turbine engine.
Speaker 22 (01:47:29):
Without it, the sleigh couldn't get more than a few
feet off the ground.
Speaker 9 (01:47:35):
And does anyone ever used on a sled?
Speaker 10 (01:47:38):
Can't see your hand and puff your face out there.
Speaker 4 (01:47:40):
You won't get through.
Speaker 1 (01:47:42):
Donner and Litzon can't get through anything. We must hurry
what children need their toys.
Speaker 22 (01:47:46):
On the other side of the forest.
Speaker 12 (01:47:49):
We hit blacktop time circumented Skywalker hasn't come in the
south Edis you might have forgotten to check in.
Speaker 1 (01:47:54):
Not like this ready yet we're having some trouble.
Speaker 4 (01:47:57):
Adampting me to the cold go out on just dropping
too rapidly.
Speaker 9 (01:48:01):
That's right, my friends, outed.
Speaker 18 (01:48:02):
Now these tools didn't have any idea about what they
were letting themselves in.
Speaker 7 (01:48:06):
For, Yeah, didn't they? And thank Christmas treelot so people
have to drive all the way out to nowhere in
this whole Saturday.
Speaker 1 (01:48:13):
The world looked a lot more complicated and dangers they.
Speaker 12 (01:48:17):
Invented over us because people forgot how to have a fun,
old fashioned family Christmas.
Speaker 18 (01:48:21):
Did you do what I preferred?
Speaker 6 (01:48:22):
Iss your classic spruce tree and bot drawn a line
in the sand. We're gonna get a real tree and
we're gonna cut it down like I did when I
was a kid.
Speaker 4 (01:48:28):
Follow me side of bat to save the winters. More egg,
No Harry Como and being on the high.
Speaker 6 (01:48:34):
Fuck clean, cool chill of the holiday.
Speaker 4 (01:48:36):
Air take its place. He's gonna wait till tomorrow to
tell you all this.
Speaker 14 (01:48:39):
But what the heck?
Speaker 4 (01:48:40):
This is good morning beat.
Speaker 6 (01:48:42):
This is your favorite djay Yogi bar saying it stay
cool and dick to you. Yeah, ten minutes before ten
o'clock on WBT, lots going on here at the Great Colossus.
Reminder that tomorrow night, five o'clock, we can't say this enough,
(01:49:04):
We'll be broadcasting live Hancock's Bikes for kids. Hancock'll be
in here tomorrow. We'll also have Dan Rikowski from the
Charlotte Knights going to swing by tomorrow. I have a
feeling with a bike or two or ten or ten
and again that's how it works. Tomorrow night. I know
this because I've seen it over the years. There are
(01:49:24):
some people out there who have their own gatherings collecting
bikes and resources and such, have their own little parties
at the office, and then caravan over here to make
the big delivery tomorrow night. And so it's Hancock's bike
Bikes for Kids. We're kind of the hub. But there
are all kinds of people who have planned their holiday traditions,
(01:49:46):
giving traditions around this event tomorrow night. So Hancock will
be here tomorrow night.
Speaker 1 (01:49:50):
What we say.
Speaker 6 (01:49:51):
We're talking to Brent and Hailey Sanders of Kids First
a little bit earlier, and they said that we're going
to have some exciting activities going on here. You never
know who might share up last year, Scott David walks up.
I'm not saying that's gonna happen. I'm saying it can happen.
That's the point, right, You.
Speaker 7 (01:50:08):
Just never know. Tom Hanks could show up.
Speaker 6 (01:50:09):
Okay, you're setting the bar kind of high here.
Speaker 7 (01:50:14):
He's a big fan. He's a big fan.
Speaker 6 (01:50:15):
The weather is gonna be better though, so maybe that
increases the chance of Tom Hanks showing up.
Speaker 7 (01:50:22):
Yeah, you just don't know. He could be in Town
scouting for a film.
Speaker 6 (01:50:26):
David Pumpkins has done with Halloween.
Speaker 7 (01:50:28):
Great, he could be he should he should be.
Speaker 6 (01:50:30):
You know, Sammy Christmas Pumpkins.
Speaker 1 (01:50:36):
So stupid.
Speaker 7 (01:50:38):
It's a great S and L character, But he could
be Sammy S. Christmas instead of David S.
Speaker 9 (01:50:42):
Pumpkins.
Speaker 6 (01:50:43):
Well, so there's that possibility tomorrow night. And if it's
not David Christmas then or Mike, who's it? David Pumpkins,
David S. Pumpkins, David Christmas.
Speaker 7 (01:50:52):
That's gonna be Sammy Christmas, Chris.
Speaker 6 (01:50:54):
Pat McCrory, that whole thing, or Freddy s Biggie Pudding,
Biggie Pudding. But tomorrow night the Polar Express with Tom
Hanks could very well pull up as well. See ye
see I rescued that.
Speaker 7 (01:51:07):
Oh what are you saying I took us down a
dark road.
Speaker 6 (01:51:09):
No, I'm saying I took us there. You had to
come rescue us, took us down the green mile both. Yeah,
all right, So what about the weather tomorrow night? Will
the Polar Express be able to make it here tomorrow night?
Raise stagic?
Speaker 18 (01:51:23):
Yeah, let's go on backwards. Since you mentioned the event
tomorrow evening, I think we're going to be Okay, a
lot of clouds and the precipitation's over with. So that's
the good news, all right.
Speaker 8 (01:51:33):
Now.
Speaker 18 (01:51:33):
The bad news is that they're leading up to and
sorry I'm a little late, but you know, when there's
snow in the South, everybody wants your attention, right and
the attention and the attention meters really spiked yesterday when
they winter weather advisors went up. Now they're well north
of Mecklenburg County. They're up in the Triad and the Triangle,
(01:51:54):
parts of the Triangle around Durham, so Greensboro, Winston Salem,
basically long Eye forty points north. That doesn't mean we
get a cold rain tomorrow. That may not mix in
with a little sleet or freezing rain or wet snow,
But right now doesn't look like accumulations. As you go north,
maybe as you get up seventy seven or eighty five
into areas around Statesville or Lexington, even places further closer
(01:52:20):
to the advisory, you may have a better opportunity, especially
on some of the side streets, to maybe accumulate lightly.
I mean it's not like, for example, you've got the
advisory for Yatkin, but as you move into Davy County
that it just means you get nothing. So as you
go north and out of the city of Charlotte, better
opportunities to run into some of that frozen priezet. But
(01:52:42):
I don't have much concern about travel trouble tomorrow morning,
except for wet road surfaces here locally.
Speaker 6 (01:52:49):
And you say that the rain is going to be
moved out by the time we get into the evening hours,
that's great new. Now how cold is that going to be?
Speaker 18 (01:52:57):
I think, well, it's going to be a chili day,
you know, one of those days where we're kind of
wedged in cold there damning. We talked about that at
the beginning of the week. So we'll probably struggle tomorrow
to get to forty degree actually stay in the thirties,
and then temperatures after sunset probably not plummeting, but we're
probably going to be in the thirties by anywhere from
(01:53:20):
five to eight o'clock tomorrow evening and then eventually fall over.
And I'd only took about thirty five, so the low
is only thirty five. But I think we're going to
stay around forty and then drop into the upper thirties
of the evening hours. But as I said, the rain's done,
so that's a good thing. But bubble up certainly going
to be cold outside.
Speaker 6 (01:53:36):
Yeah, no question. But look like I said, we have
done this drive in the pouring rain before. That's probably
the hardest scenario to pull it all off. So if
it's just going to be cold, but we're going to
have it precipitation free, that's great news. So very excited
about that, and we appreciate you coming on on short
notice here.
Speaker 18 (01:53:55):
Ah, no problem.
Speaker 6 (01:54:02):
I don't know that Ray's going to be there tomorrow night.
Speaker 14 (01:54:04):
God wouldn't that be awesome.
Speaker 7 (01:54:05):
I wouldn't be surprised if he just popped.
Speaker 6 (01:54:07):
In, Oh man, popped by. I've talked to Ray about
doing this. We need to get Ray. Ray comes through
this area every once in a while, and he's based
at the Weather Channel, but he comes through her every
once in a while. We need to get him in
the nine o'clock hour one day, just pick his brain
for a while.
Speaker 7 (01:54:25):
Good dude, did you take a college like meteorology class?
Speaker 6 (01:54:30):
I did not.
Speaker 7 (01:54:31):
I took weather in climate as one of my science
classes at Carolina and my professor, and this is not
a lie, her name professor Hazardeez.
Speaker 6 (01:54:41):
I took astronomy in college.
Speaker 7 (01:54:44):
Oh see, I wanted to take astronomy, but everybody said
it was so hard, and I was very concerned about
my GPA.
Speaker 6 (01:54:50):
I got an incomplete in astronomy because I go to
the it was so the planet area freaking hard. You
just drop it, oh is what you did. I tried
to drop it, but I dropped it past the deadline.
So then I had to actually actually take an extra
class to graduate because I had to make up. That
class ended up being a polypsy class. But I took
(01:55:10):
astronomy thinking, oh the nine planets. That was fun and
everything I ever learned about the the in astronomy they
did the first day and then like the third or
fourth day we're talking about like the what is the
absolute brightness of a star?
Speaker 1 (01:55:22):
And I'm like, my god, you know what a red dwarf?
Speaker 9 (01:55:25):
Like?
Speaker 1 (01:55:25):
What am I doing? I don't want to go to space.
I just want to learn about it.
Speaker 14 (01:55:28):
Bet Spencer would love to help Youah.
Speaker 6 (01:55:31):
I probably really just my Spencer's. Spencer's faults of me
probably went way down just now.
Speaker 14 (01:55:37):
Spencer has probably forgotten more about astronomy.
Speaker 1 (01:55:40):
Oh yeah, than we know.
Speaker 7 (01:55:41):
He has more astronomy knowledge and his thumb than all
of us have combined.
Speaker 6 (01:55:45):
So it's been a very important giving week here. It
culminates tomorrow night, five o'clock the Bike Drive. We've covered
all that. Today, we've covered City of Hope CLT dot RG.
The City of Hope campaign is often running. Moments of
Hope Church will match your donation, and we're going to
try to do as many things as we can for
kids here in the holiday season.
Speaker 7 (01:56:04):
Can I just tell you big stuff, big stuff happening
this week, big.
Speaker 6 (01:56:09):
Stuff like how that sounds. We appreciate everybody joining us today.
Perhaps more big news tomorrow. I don't know, big stuff.
Uh huh, all right, Thanks to Mark, Thanks to Boomer,
Thanks to Steve and Bernie and all of you. Good talk,
Beth Troutman.
Speaker 7 (01:56:29):
