Lisboa foi o palco das principais revoluções da História de Portugal nos últimos 750 anos: 1383-85, 1640, 1820, 1836, 1910 e 1974. Curiosamente, desde os finais do século XIV até ao 25 de Abril, há locais da cidade que repetem protagonismo nos momentos revolucionários: a Sé e o Rossio, e mais tarde o Largo do Carmo, a Praça do Comércio e a Rotunda do Marquês de Pombal.
Consta até que uma das primeiras “fake news” da História de Portugal ocorreu durante a crise de 1383-85, quando os apoiantes do mestre de Avis puseram a correr pela cidade a falsa narrativa que a vida do futuro D. João I estava em risco.
