In een speciale editie van de AD-vechtsportpodcast In de Ring blikt de recent gestopte MMA-vechter Melvin Manhoef (46) uitgebreid en op emotionele wijze terug op zijn imposante loopbaan, aan tafel met ex-kickbokser en vaste gast Remy Bonjasky en AD-vechtsportverslaggever en presentator Tim Reedijk.
Manhoef heeft een onbevredigend gevoel overgehouden aan de verliespartij tegen Yoel Romero (45), zijn laatste gevecht op contract bij Bellator en het slotstuk van zijn carrière. In de derde ronde ging hij knock-out. Al snel na het gevecht beleefde hij in de ring een emotioneel afscheid met zijn vrouw en kinderen.
Ook komt natuurlijk aan bod: Collision 4, het grote Glory-evenement van komende zaterdag in de Gelredome, met Badr Hari en Alistair Overeem als uithangborden. Daarin hebben Manhoef en Bonjasky felle discussies over de vechtstijl van Hari en hoe je als vechter moet reageren op een oneerlijke situatie.
