Inside Kurdistan brings insight to cultural and political developments in the Autonomous Kurdistan Region of Iraq for an international audience. We focus on a broad range of topics related to Kurdish culture, bringing context and coverage through interviews with experts and first-hand accounts to help provide a responsible perspective on what's happening in the region, Iraq and the Middle East as a whole.

Stella Martany is a fixer and journalist based out of Erbil. Like many fixers in KRI, she got her start covering the war against ISIS in Mosul, but she joins me today to talk about how she's developed since then, explaining the differences between reporting during and after the war and the challenges with both.

Isadora Gotts is a Ph. D. student whose background is primarily focused around Mosul's shifting economy after the 2017 liberation. She has now expanded her research towards focusing on the city's economic and cultural outlook as whole, with a particular emphasis towards its municipal planning and layout as well as how its economy affects and interacts with other cities like Erbil.
