Who wrote Job? What is the Book of Job about? In this podcast, Dr. Toby Holt breaks down the Book of Job—from the trials of a righteous man to God’s sovereign response—in a way that’s clear, compelling, and relevant. You’ll explore the story of Job’s suffering, his debates with friends, and God’s answers—not just as ancient events, but in ways that address your own suffering. Whether you’re a pastor, student, or brand new to the Bible, this podcast (including sermons) details all the major events from Job 1 through Job 42. Dr. Holt has pastored three churches and taught apologetics in the US and internationally. If possible, please leave a review to help others find the show.
Job was GOOD.
Job was RIGHTEOUS.
And yet, Job suffered HORRIBLY.
Why did God permit this godly man to go through so many trials?
And what does this mean for us?
We will address those questions in this introduction to Chapter 1.

Why?
That's the question that we often have.
If God is good, then why does He allow us to face hardships?
These are timeless questions - in fact, they were the very questions asked by Job centuries ago.
But are there answers? That will be the focus of today's study of Job 2.

Friends should COMFORT us, right?
Friends should ENCOURAGE us!
But what happens when they accuse us or make us feel worse?
In Job 10, that's just what Job's friends did. They made him feel worse.
In today's study, we'll consider Job's response.

Job was hurting. Job was confused.
And because of that pain, he had questions for God.
And that's OK - there's nothing wrong with questions!
But what's NOT OK is questioning God's discernment, as if God's actions are subject to critique.
And that's what Job had done.
In Job 38, God responded to Job. Click to learn more.

There are BETTER DAYS ahead.
How do we know that?
Well consider God's servant, Job. Yes, Job cried a lot of tears. Yes, Job hurt. But in time, all those tears and pains were wiped away.
