El presidente de EE. UU., Donald Trump, ha amenazado con "hacer pagar el doble" a España tras su negativa a elevar el gasto en defensa al 5 % del PIB, en el marco de la OTAN. El ministro Carlos Cuerpo evitó polemizar, remitiendo el asunto a la Comisión Europea. Isabel Díaz Ayuso acusó a Pedro Sánchez de usar “intereses de España” con fines políticos. Durante un acto en Nueva York, anunció que EE. UU. será el país invitado del Festival de la Hispanidad en 2026.
Mientras, en Bruselas, la Comisión Europea y varios Estados miembros, incluida España, comprometieron hasta 2.000 millones de euros con Gavi. Ursula von der Leyen destacó el valor económico y sanitario de las vacunas. Sánchez anunció que España aumentará su aportación un 30 %.
Por otro lado, Oxfam denunció que el 1 % más rico ha acumulado 33,9 billones de dólares desde 2015, y pidió reformas fiscales y deuda más justa.
