Los líderes de la OTAN han acordado en su cumbre de La Haya elevar al 5 % de su PIB el gasto en defensa para 2035 con la discrepancia de España. La declaración respaldada por los 32 aliados en La Haya reafirma el “compromiso inquebrantable con la defensa colectiva” y un nuevo objetivo de gasto en diez años que se eleva al 5% (un 3,5% para gasto militar puro y un 1,5% para gasto relacionado), desde el actual 2% en vigor.
El presidente del Gobierno español, Pedro Sánchez, ha ratificado que España no gastará más del 2,1 % de su PIB en defensa, tras el aval que considera que dio la cumbre de la OTAN, un porcentaje que asegura que permitirá al país cumplir "en tiempo y forma" todos sus compromisos con las capacidades de la Alianza.
El presidente de Estados Unidos, Donald Trump, ha arremetido contra España y asegura que vamos a pagar el doble de aranceles. En sus propias palabras, el mandatario americano ha dicho que España es el único que se niega a pagar, pero que al final lo hará.
