Speaker 1 (00:01):
Like first game, like fun, got a dove, got a dove.
I think we played good enough to be able to win,
but there's a lot of much better ball we got
out there in front of us, that's for sure.

Speaker 2 (00:12):
If you were right there when Hooka got hit and
you saw the blood, to see him go get concussion
stitches and then come back and have the game that
he had, how would you describe it?

Speaker 3 (00:21):
That's powerful poop.

Speaker 1 (00:22):
I mean, he's he's a he's a tough son of
a gun, that's for sure.

Speaker 2 (00:26):
Man.

Speaker 1 (00:26):
I mean I love having him on my team, that's
for sure. And I mean when I when I saw it,
obviously I was a little concerned because the hit itself
was scary, and then to see the blood, like I
didn't know exactly what was going on, but I was
happy to know that he was okay. After weeks of
obviously camp and you come into the opener here and
get a win, is it kind of.

Speaker 3 (00:43):
Where you guys want to be right now after? I
mean it was a little roster there in the beginning
of the game, but it kind of the process where
you are. Yeah, I think it's a it's a long season.

Speaker 1 (00:52):
Obviously, the first game is never gonna be the best
that you hope it's not the best, and if we
can play virtually is bad and almost give it away
as many times as we do, and if you still
find a way to win. I mean, this is something
to be said about a team that can do something
like that as well. How do you explain the early
chemistry with Matthew as far as you guys had nineteen
of the twenty ninth targets?

Speaker 3 (01:11):
Huh already you.

Speaker 1 (01:12):
And yeah, I think, uh, you know, it's obviously the
a lot of the game plan is geared to get
us involved.

Speaker 3 (01:18):
So you know, Pula had a great game.

Speaker 1 (01:20):
I think, you know, we had a good decent start,
but I think it's a lot more we can build
home for sure, But I mean the.

Speaker 3 (01:26):
Target share is out of our hands.

Speaker 1 (01:28):
We just we shuld go out there and run the
rocks and the ball comes our way, try to make plays.

Speaker 3 (01:33):
Incredible.

Speaker 4 (01:33):
What was that like for you watching now?

Speaker 3 (01:35):
It's fun?

Speaker 1 (01:36):
It's fun, man, I mean, obviously it's it's a good
team with a lot of weapons over there, so it's
never gonna be easy. But to see them, you know,
grind like that, you know, obviously give up a few
plays and and uh, you know, a couple of penalties
there and still stand their ground and to be able
to have enough resiliency to to finish out a game
like that.

Speaker 3 (01:52):
I'm probably the def sure.

Speaker 2 (01:54):
It was like.

Speaker 4 (01:57):
Houston's defensive fact ball game.

Speaker 3 (02:00):
Yeah, they got some tough guys over there.

Speaker 1 (02:01):
Derek obviously is a great corner, so it was good
to be able to get some some good matchups for
them there. You know, there's always gonna be some some
back and forth as far as it was making the plays,
but you know, he followed me around today, so it
was it was it was it was fun getting getting uh,
you know, be able to go head ahead with him.
Think it's like our third time being able to go
at each other. So as we keep going, we'd be

(02:23):
able to convert on more plays. But there's definitely more
out there. We could have made some some more opportunities.

Speaker 3 (02:27):
How about your first one as a RAM what's just life?
It's great you got a double, yeah, but overall, just
the atmosphere and everything, it's just fun, man.

Speaker 1 (02:36):
I mean, these guys are are just gritty and grimy dudes.
That's gonna go out there and find a way to
make it work and a young team with a lot
of energy and really everything that it takes to be
a great team. So, like I said, we didn't put
the best display out there, but we did enough to
be able to win the game.

Speaker 3 (02:50):
All right, Thanks appreciate the guy. Can you describe that
punch out play? Uh?

Speaker 2 (02:55):
Yeah, it was, you know, we're down the red zone,
was getting to a long drive and we always you know,
preach turnovers in.

Speaker 4 (03:01):
Our in our defensive meetings, team meetings.

Speaker 2 (03:04):
Saw the opportunity, took and took it, and you know,
the punch worked out something we work on, we've been
working on.

Speaker 4 (03:09):
So glad to glad it paid off for the team.

Speaker 3 (03:11):
Did you see Fisk? What do you have to do
to get on that thing?

Speaker 2 (03:14):
I saw the tail end of it. Yeah, he you know,
it looked like he palmed it. I actually originally thought
to tackle or one of their old linemen had it,
and I saw him get up within U.

Speaker 4 (03:23):
What a great feeling in this game in a crucial
moment like that for you, it's about team.

Speaker 3 (03:28):
Wouldn't mean you to contribute to that level.

Speaker 4 (03:31):
Oh, it meant so much, you know.

Speaker 2 (03:33):
I actually kind of blacked out when it happened, and
my instinct was to you know, run the teammates on
the sideline and celebrate with them, and you know, because
I I can't do that without the rest of the
guys on the team. And so just a great moment
for us, for the Rams and and you know, ready
to move on.

Speaker 3 (03:48):
With that play like the way you did. You're going
in there thinking like that, like, just get to punch it.

Speaker 2 (03:52):
First, you know, not not before the play. Yeah, but
when I saw him, you know, coming across to me
and I really had the vice tackle with the with
my guy to my left.

Speaker 4 (04:03):
That's when you gotta take your opportunities. A lot of.

Speaker 2 (04:05):
Clips during camp of you having those peanut punches.

Speaker 3 (04:09):
How much do you practice that?

Speaker 4 (04:10):
Yeah, we practice it every day every team drill.

Speaker 2 (04:13):
We practiced an individual We've been doing it since Ota,
since camp. You know, good on good you know, against
the ones, against the two's, whatever it is. But it's
something we work on every day and we preach in
the mean room pretty much every day.

Speaker 1 (04:24):
What kind of time does it set for the defense
to get a win like this close it out in
week one?

Speaker 2 (04:30):
Yeah, I think it just shows what we're capable of.
And there's a lot of room for improvement. You know,
we'll take a look at the tape, celebrate what we did,
you know, well correct what we did wrong. And you know,
I think the sky's the limit for this defense. You
see the guys we have have up front, the pressure
we were able to create on the quarterback, you know, and.

Speaker 4 (04:46):
You pair that with the coverage behind. It's a lot
to look forward to this year every day.

Speaker 1 (04:54):
But you're kind of been pointed out as a trendsetter
in terms of actually making that happen.

Speaker 2 (05:00):
What does it mean to you in the in your
first game to be able to kind of like stamp on.

Speaker 3 (05:04):
It like that.

Speaker 4 (05:04):
Oh, it means so much. You know, you work, you work,
you work for that moment to happen there and for that.

Speaker 2 (05:10):
Moment to come to come to fruition and it you know,
expose itself.

Speaker 3 (05:14):
Is is really great.

Speaker 2 (05:16):
You know you're able now to trust your training and
and just go back to work and hopefully create more
opportunities like that.

Speaker 1 (05:23):
You said that you guys practiced it, you know, punching
out the ball a lot. The accuracy of that punch
was was really pinpoint.

Speaker 3 (05:29):
Did you grow up fighting a lot or do you
box or anything like that?

Speaker 4 (05:32):
No, I did not.

Speaker 2 (05:32):
It's just repetition in practice, getting used to it. And
you know, the more you throw, the more you can,
you're gonna connect. So just taking those opportunities when they
may arise, all right, So thanks guys, Thanks you guys,

Cardiac Cowboys

Cardiac Cowboys

The heart was always off-limits to surgeons. Cutting into it spelled instant death for the patient. That is, until a ragtag group of doctors scattered across the Midwest and Texas decided to throw out the rule book. Working in makeshift laboratories and home garages, using medical devices made from scavenged machine parts and beer tubes, these men and women invented the field of open heart surgery. Odds are, someone you know is alive because of them. So why has history left them behind? Presented by Chris Pine, CARDIAC COWBOYS tells the gripping true story behind the birth of heart surgery, and the young, Greatest Generation doctors who made it happen. For years, they competed and feuded, racing to be the first, the best, and the most prolific. Some appeared on the cover of Time Magazine, operated on kings and advised presidents. Others ended up disgraced, penniless, and convicted of felonies. Together, they ignited a revolution in medicine, and changed the world.
