Speaker 1 (00:00):
I don't even know what else to say. Obviously, we'll
watch the tape get back to it. We knew defensively
that some explosive players obviously Bejon out of self the
game tonight, and we knew that we'd have to rally
to tackle them, and yeah, and we we let them
get free. Yeah, there's a lot of frustration. Obviously not
our brand of ball. But I mean it's not the
(00:21):
end of the season. But I mean we gotta we
gotta do some soul searching and really turn around, figure
out what's happening while we're starting so slow, you know,
And we got another big game coming up this next
week that'll be a chance to give ourselves some momentum
heading into the playoffs.
Speaker 2 (00:36):
Explosives, second week in a row, that's been an issue,
Like what do you think is happening on those plays?
Speaker 1 (00:41):
Yeah, I mean explosives are one offs, and I think
we just have to do a better job overall of
every single play knowing where our guy is at, making
sure that we execute. And I mean we have a
player like Bjon. I mean, obviously he got drafted where
he was at for a reason. He's been, you know,
one of the best backs if not the best bat
in the league for a reason, and we got a
(01:02):
rally to him. He was able to break some tackles
and gain some explosives, and then there are some times
where he's able to set up as whole and hit
the crease. And he's a talented back, but we can't
give him anything. We have to be able to suffocate
opposing running backs, and we didn't do that tonight. No, Honestly,
everything that we talked about, I mean, we were trying
not to focus on any of the games that happened yesterday.
(01:23):
At the end of the day, it's about Uh, it's
about us. And like I said before, like I don't
care where we go, I don't care who we have
to play. I'm taking my guys and my team over
anybody else. But we definitely got to get it together.
We got to get our stuff together. We gotta start fast.
We got to be able to finish off games.
Speaker 3 (01:39):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (01:40):
You know, obviously we had a good second half to
be able to put ourselves in a position to be
able to win, but we have to figure out ways
to deal those finishing blows and to come away with
the w and we didn't do that tonight. In the mirror.
Speaker 2 (01:51):
What does that collectively mean.
Speaker 1 (01:52):
Yeah, I mean we'll check the tape. We'll check the
tape tonight, and we have a short week. You know,
sometimes that's a blessing coming off of a loss. We
just get to get right back into the facility and
get going. So I mean, our process is our process. Uh,
but we we gotta figure out how to start faster,
and we gotta find figure out, uh, you know, defensively,
how to stop these explosives. Kobeeah. Yeah. His message was,
(02:16):
you know, he loves the way that we fight. He
loves the way that we came back and gave ourselves
a chance in the second half. But at the end
of the day, if we play like we did in
the first half, I mean, if if we play the
way that we did, you know, this game and totality,
we're gonna be at home, you know, watching everything else
go downs in two weeks. So we gotta get our
stuff together. You know, we're gonna go back watch the tape.
(02:37):
And I believe in these guys so much. I know
that we have the right group of people in this
locker room, and we're gonna make the best out of
this m There's a lot of there's a lot of
teams that go through adversity and this is only gonna
make us better. That's my hope, and that's what I
know about these guys. So we're just gonna go back
to work and and make sure that that's the case.
Speaker 2 (02:53):
You are focused on yourself, But how much do you
take note of the teams in the NSC that are
heating out right now?
Speaker 1 (02:58):
Yeah? At the end again, like everyone can heat up,
it doesn't really matter. Like when we play at our best,
nobody can. Nobody can hang with us, and nobody can
stop us. So that's really all it's about. It's about
figuring out how to play at our best consistently, how
to play consistent ball for four quarters, how to suffocate
a team and give them no hope. And you know,
there's been times where we've had a really good quarter.
(03:19):
There's been times where we've had a really good half,
maybe even a really good three quarters. But how are
we gonna put it all together? I mean, that's ultimately
gonna result in the winds up we want. Thank you
for such.
Speaker 4 (03:29):
It was just misstackles. I mean there was a mistackle
on this big ninety's on yard run on a forty
yard run. That was a little bit on me. You know,
I took the inside. I had them wrapped up. I
had a little bit of a collar in my hand,
so I would, you know released, I thought, you you know,
I had some backup coming in. But that's on me.
I gotta hold my edge. You know, maybe that's a
two yard run instead of a forty yard run. Whatever
it was.
Speaker 2 (03:46):
In the history of Sean McVay coaching, it's only happened
a handful of times where you can just get shot
out in the first half and you're down twenty one nothing.
What was that like coming into the locker room in
that hole?
Speaker 4 (03:57):
I mean, you can see the fire in people's eyes.
We don't really care, Like can you can start the
game off down twenty one? It's about your reaction to it.
I feel like we went out there and we did
exactly what we had to do defense and we stopped
those you know, two field goals that they had in
the second half when we win that game. But you
know that's that's only if you know, we gotta be
better in that aspect. We can't let them get down
down the field.
Speaker 2 (04:13):
It's been like forty years since someone's blocked the field
goal and return it for a touchdown. Can you describe that?
Speaker 4 (04:18):
Yeah, no, that's just we had to make a playoffs like,
all right, let me let me do it. Coach called
the right play.
Speaker 2 (04:22):
You know.
Speaker 4 (04:22):
We were able to execute on the you know, deep
on the field goal side, so the field goal block side.
So it was good about making your.
Speaker 1 (04:28):
Eye contact on the peace side.
Speaker 4 (04:31):
I ain't know so I saw that. Yeah, I was,
I gotta got a little eye contact, just kept going off.
I was like, I make sure they don't get a flag.
Speaker 2 (04:37):
We just could go until the playoffs. How discouraging is
it to have lost back to back games?
Speaker 4 (04:42):
I don't really care. I mean, obviously it sucks to
you know, lose back to back games. That's bout how
you responded to it. You know, obviously these games are important.
We could we should have, you know, sealed out of
the Seahawks game. We should have won this game, but
should it would have could have? You know, they they
executed bad in us. They did exactly what they had
to do to get to win the night. I don't
you know, I don't casp on to the next. Arizona's
next that's sewn.
Speaker 5 (05:00):
Something that's why guys wanted to see how you guys
responded after the Seattle game.
Speaker 2 (05:04):
Why do you want You weren't able to get into
it them on the first half.
Speaker 4 (05:07):
I think it was just you know, execution. We want
executing on the defensive side, you know, like I said,
it's the explosives. You know, if you take away those explosives,
they I don't know what they have and they might
get them to their pick. And that's about it, you know,
But that's all us. We gotta be better on our sides.
We can't get away there on the offensive side.
Speaker 2 (05:20):
You guys were down twenty one to nothing. You were
one of the keys to this comeback. Kind of describe
what it was like at halftime to try to get
back into this thing.
Speaker 5 (05:28):
Yeah, we just weren't executing on the first half as
an offense. And we just got together in the group,
and you know, the standard that we set for ourselves
and each other through the season, we need to step
up and do that. So just getting the guys together
and rallying behind our quarterback and everybody and just making
sure we get on the right page. We weren't executing
at the level.
Speaker 2 (05:46):
We're used to at times, you guys look like you
could beat anyone anywhere. At other times you look like
you're beating yourselves. What has to change so that doesn't
happen in the playoffs.
Speaker 5 (05:55):
Yeah, that's just exactly what you said. You know, there's
times that we beat ourselves, and it just comes down
to the execution and making sure we're on the details
and making sure we're getting better every rep and getting
better through the week of practice and making sure that
we're on those details and executing at a high level.
Because we have been at that throughout most of this season.
Speaker 3 (06:13):
So the twenty seven the twenty seven yard touchdown catch
you had, it seems like those routes and concepts have
been something you've thrived at. Just you know how that
come to life and what you see on the play.
Speaker 5 (06:23):
Yeah, it was kind of a throwback off of some
of our rollouts and stuff, so we run a lot
of those those boots and being able to be put
on the backside obviously, just blessed enough to have the
coaches trust me enough to run that route, enough trust
from the quarterback to throw that and be able to
put in that situation. So it's just a blessing, but
just kind of a playoff of play and a great,
great play by coach m vay of something that we
(06:46):
do well and having a counter punch off of it.
So thank you.
Speaker 2 (06:50):
Perfect
