Speaker 1 (00:01):
You get here hurt and they can work. What's really like?
But they it's been like for you, it's been crazy.
I mean, just gott here Monday, my sacred time in
LA and I feel like a lot of stuff happening
fast and I'm just here just living in the moment.
I excited for it. What was kind of your reaction
when you have to do something like that. Oh, I
(00:22):
mean I kind of already knew that I heard about
possible or trade coming, So I mean I wasn't completely shocked.
I just didn't know where. I mean, at the time
of life finally happening. I mean, was there at that
moment just accept the really excited about it. You know,
I'm in a great place with a great team. Impressions
of of this team and and kind of a culture here. Yeah,
(00:42):
first and pression. I mean I got that insight when
we played against them, you know, just from how they play.
They play tough guys. You know, they were having fun,
you know, beating us and stuff. So I see it
in person now, you know, still having fun guys, jokes,
you know, time to get serious. You could tell that
they trust and have fun with each other. And I
already come from com comfortable with them already and just
(01:03):
decided to see how it go from your own up.
What are the steps that you take to make your
transitions to smooth in terms of it being such a
fast turnaround, Yeah, I mean transitioning. I feel like I
just live in the mornings, just try to get better
day by day. Don't try to do too much, don't
try to learn too much. And I mean I talk
to the coaches. They say they're not gonna put a
(01:23):
lot on me. They gonna take it easy. So it's
just me just learning the team, learning that play style,
learning on what they looking for me and all that stuff.
So I just go day by day, just try to
get better. What do you think you bring specifically to
the secondary. Yeah, I mean I feel like I can
play inside outside, and you know they said that would
need me no spots, so basically they have give me
(01:43):
like the main role. Wanna be it, but I know
they they want me to help right away, so I play.
That's my mindset, Just improve and learn and just be
with my feasts are what ever? See something when you
play our mirror and.
Speaker 2 (01:54):
Went into play, you played outside more earlier in your
career inside a lot now do you feel like there's
still kind of more you can achieve or prove as
an outside corner that maybe you could get back to.
Speaker 1 (02:06):
Yeah, I mean it's been a while, you know, since
my first two years. I play outside, But I don't
feel like I say I need to achieve something. I
feel like it's just me getting back in that mold
of knowing how people attack me playing outside versus inside.
So it just it's just no lost memories, just coming
back to me getting back comfortable out there. But I
know it's not gonna be hard. I just gotta get
back to it.
Speaker 2 (02:26):
When was your first time in LA?
Speaker 1 (02:28):
First time in La, it was January, Yeah, so still
getting used to it. Traffic is crazy, you know, first
day it is hot. It's cold in Ashville, so getting
used to it and little swing now it's so hot.
But I mean December that gonna be the shocker. No Christmas.
I'm ready to get cold in Christmas, so they're gonna
be something different for me in December.
Speaker 2 (02:48):
You approaching the situation when you're you know, last year
of your contract and you're changing the teams and just
trying to get settled.
Speaker 1 (02:54):
Also kind of looking forward to your future yeah. I
mean future wise, I feel like I just leave out
on God, and I mean everything's out of my control.
As for me, I feel like I just gotta play
and just be the player that I am, and then
all the rest's gonna take care of yourself, you know,
leaving gods. So I'm a firm believing in that and
just have faith no matter what the rest, gonna play
by myself. I help. Going from a team that was
(03:16):
stru is struggling to a team that's pretty regarded as
a playoff maybe super Bowl contender. Beside it, I thought
about that, you know what I mean. There was some
ups and downs. I mean I always love in Tennessee,
you know, That's what the drafted me. So I was
always happy to be there no matter what, you know,
just just in a bad situation, but coming up to it,
my flip, happy happy to be here. You know, just
(03:38):
to see how these guys play practice, You can tell
why they are the record that play how they play
just from seeing and see how they at. I respect,
I respect that a lot, and I'm just willing to
learn off there and just be off their energy.
Speaker 2 (03:49):
Did you know any of the DB's here before you
got here?
Speaker 1 (03:52):
Personally, I have it like knowing them, but I know,
like knew of them. You know, I knew Kobe, you
know guys I know e, you know Missippi sec. So
I knew that guy right there and doing really the
main two. I would say I knew like just from
watching football and just hearing about them.
Speaker 2 (04:08):
As you've been here, you started looking into him. I mean,
have you got an appreciation for Quentin Lake has a
really unique role and he's the one that Sean mentioned
will sort of move around a little bit with you here.
Have you gotten to talk with him or had a
sense for kind of what they'd be like to play
with the guy like that?
Speaker 1 (04:22):
Yeah, I mean, you know I can tell just from
the mean room, you know, that's that's the leader right there.
That's the guy. I see that. They really have a
lot of faith in yous to delete that back in.
I can I see him making plays. You know, it's
just from watching outside there and you know, watching film
and everything and seeing on the field, see how you play.
You can just tell he was he's the leader. Like,
that's the guy. I feel like I'm gonna learn a
lot from him, and I'm happy about that to be
(04:44):
my teammate also the coach pleasant coach you with the
Senior Bowl.
Speaker 2 (04:48):
What do you remember from that experience, what stood out
and what's like getting a chance to work with him again.
Speaker 1 (04:52):
Yeah, his personality first start. You know, I forgotten when
we came up here. I was like, oh, yeah, he's
up here of Senior Bowl. He got the same injury
to the same personality, funny goofy. So I feel like
he made it comfortable right away and feel like home,
you know, that relationship with me and him. I feel
like this is just the beginning right here. I feel
like I can learn a lot from him, So I'm happy
about that. I that's thanks Mary. Make sure to get
