Speaker 1 (00:00):
Yes, sir, can I hear me, Yeah, we can hear you.

Speaker 2 (00:08):
Hi from our local media here to ask you a
few questions as theirs do it. Just I had that
big smile on your face. Tell us about that phone call,
because both Sean and Les said it was one of
the best they've ever had.

Speaker 3 (00:23):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (00:24):
Man, just the emotion running through on that phone call. Man,
I just couldn't hold it in and either right now,
just digging back on it, just everything that went into
this moment and all the people that was just supporting
me and just hearing them and you know how proud
they were of me and for you know everything I
do this, for it, you know, they were all there,

(00:46):
and I mean I'm just glad that, you know, it
all worked out and I'm just happy to be aram.

Speaker 2 (00:51):
Let's do it.

Speaker 3 (00:54):
Can you tell us tell us about them? Who is
with you tonight and what do they mean to you?

Speaker 1 (00:59):
I mean my my my closest group of friends, My
my sisters, man, my brothers. I mean from everything, man,
I from starting in football, I mean in high school.
Those were the guys. Man, they were they were playing
before me. I joined because of them, and throughout the journey.
You know, they make sure my my my head was
on straight and I was always doing right and they

(01:20):
always supported me. Man and my mom. Man, I don't
have enough words for her and everything she's done, And
I mean, I'm I'm just happy to make her proud.

Speaker 3 (01:31):
What we're meeting is like with the Rams throughout the
draft process, And did you have an idea that that
they liked you and end up here?

Speaker 1 (01:39):
You know, I did a little bit. We didn't meet
a crazy amount, but we had a couple of zoom
and we met at our pro day and it went well.
It went great. I mean they liked the fact of
some two violent edge rushers and me and verse and
you know, and I've been borrowing young and that whole
D line. So I'm excited to get after.

Speaker 3 (01:57):
You're joining past rush that has a similar journey to you.
A lot of these guys started at smaller schools and
worked their way up.

Speaker 1 (02:07):
Like, how did that journey shape us a player?

Speaker 2 (02:10):
In prospect?

Speaker 1 (02:11):
I mean it meant everything to me, Man, I wouldn't Man,
I praised Coastal Carolina so much. I would not be
here without them, and in that university and program they
have brought so much and so many great memories, and
they taught me the game of football at the next
level and I will never forget them. But my man,
moving into Michigan was also one of the greatest decisions
I ever made. And again, Man, Michigan taught me, I

(02:34):
mean everything to be a pro man. They taught me
how to be a pro and how to be you know,
great at the next level.

Speaker 3 (02:41):
Jess, We're seeing a lot of because of the coach,
the coaches and assistant coaches that you played for. There
seeing a lot of the trickle up and trickle out
effect of the scheme you played in across the NFL,
putting some of the concepts here in LA. What about
that helps you kind of just hit the ground running
once you arrived.

Speaker 1 (03:00):
Yeah, Man, being in the pro system for a couple
of years, I mean it does your wonders being with
with Mintor and and and uh Martin Dale. I mean
those guys are are great minds and uh, I mean
throughout the process, you know, zooming with different teams. I
mean a lot of teams run similar stuff and same
same kind of schemes. So I mean I was excited to,
you know, to learn about that, and you know, learn

(03:22):
that a lot of teams. You know, run our scheme
and it'll be easy puck and play. So sorry, What
are two things that you learned while at Michigan that
you feel will enable you to perform at a high
level here with the Rams in the NFL. Uh. One
thing for sure, I'll say is just knowing your role.
I mean coming in from coastal, from being the guy
from being deep passed rust year All American Record SYC

(03:42):
leader to come into Michigan and being a role playing
and uh rotational guy. And they taught me a lot. Man.
They taught me you know what it means to win,
and you know what you got to do to play
a role and winning. Man, I'm all about winning, So
I'll do whatever it takes.

Speaker 2 (03:55):
About coming to a team that also have Blake for
a mother Michigan action.

Speaker 1 (04:01):
Yeah, I mean, don't forget Josh Wallace too, man, some
great Michigan guys there. I came in with Josh Wallace
as a as a transfer and he's a great dude
to be around. And Blake, man, he's the hardest worker
I've ever seen. And I'm glad man Go Blue, Go Blue.

Speaker 3 (04:16):
Hey, Jess Siah, you know as I'm sure you're aware
with Jared Verse, the defensive rookie of the Year, and
then Great and Fisk and Kobe, a lot of these
guys really big personalities and they really push each other
very very hard at practice and in the weight room.
And one of the scouts was saying, when they were
going to bring in you or an outside linebacker, he

(04:38):
also had to have that personality. He had to be
able to push other people too. Is that accurate about you?
And then what about your personality fits with that group?

Speaker 1 (04:48):
No doubt? I mean from from man, from high school.
I used to teach guys things where I wasn't even
a pro at yet. Man, I see it on on
Instagram reels and watch BT Jordan and d Lion bisl
Instagram and try to, you know, do those same drills
and teach other guys in my high school and just
pushing guys, man, And that's how you get better at

(05:08):
the end of the days, competing with one another and
just getting better.

Speaker 3 (05:12):
Have you heard from Joshua Blake yet tonight?

Speaker 1 (05:15):
I mean probably my phone's been going crazy. This number
is left and right. I haven't looked at my phone yet.
I'm scared too.

Speaker 2 (05:24):
How did you decide to going to that closet tonight
for the phone call man.

Speaker 1 (05:29):
It was hard to find a quiet space where with
a good background. My room is a little bit of
a mess. I how to do you guys?

Speaker 3 (05:36):
The best I could, but we're in an active fire
department right now, so I think you get the quiet.

Speaker 1 (05:43):
Part down here, no doubt.

Speaker 3 (05:47):
Have you ever spent any time in Los Angeles?

Speaker 1 (05:50):
I did twice. I trained there one summer, and then
I went there for our Rose Bowl. We had a
good game that game. Yeah, okay, thank you so much,
thank you, thank you. By
