Speaker 1 (00:00):
Awesome to be here. Obviously, these are these guys are
the real heroes, and uh, we're just grateful to be
able to have our platform to honor them with everything
that's gone on in our community. And then I had
a feeling that this was a possibility that could happen
tonight and so, you know, real credit to Les. Tony
had a bunch of great dialogue with teams throughout and
(00:20):
ended up exactly where we wanted to be. And to
be able to get a future one is uh is
a big deal to just move back twenty spots. So
obviously the next couple of days will be exciting, but
feel really good about the way that tonight unfolded Force
today strategies and.
Speaker 2 (00:39):
Strategies and what that room was like, you guys.
Speaker 3 (00:47):
I think we did have three strategies.
Speaker 2 (00:48):
One was move up, one was uh stay pat one
was moved back. And that's and and within that you
have to have it's not the same player, right, So
and we felt like the draft was uh gonna go
that way a little bit. There was a lot of
people that were attempting to move down, so we were thinking, okay,
maybe we could move up depending on who was there, Uh,
(01:10):
and then there was a state pad and then there
through it all we always really really discussed, uh, it
would there be an opportunity to move back based on
being close to the late whatever you call it, late first,
close to the second. A lot of times that's a
good place to be if you want to trade back.
That's what we did, and we thought the value. We
had a lot of offers, uh, but Atlanta's value was
(01:31):
best for us.
Speaker 3 (01:35):
A lot of.
Speaker 1 (01:37):
Kind of flat value.
Speaker 2 (01:40):
That kind of how you know what I've what I've
often said is this is a draft with good football
players in it. So I think it's it's a draft
that's kind of got punched, not a lot of wow.
I would predict that in a few years you'd look
back and a lot of these players who have been
picked are going to end up being contributors, successful contributors
(02:05):
for NFL teams.
Speaker 1 (02:06):
I think the biggest thing, too, is is there's a
lot of appreciation for let's just say your top one
hundred players, and there's maybe not as big of a
discrepancy between those guys that are in that top fifteen
to those guys that are maybe in our eighty five
to one hundred. So I think less than his group,
our coaches working in collaboration, there's a lot of appreciation
for a lot of players that will be pulled off
the board tomorrow and in the early parts of Saturday.
(02:29):
And so I think looking at where our team is overall,
the value that we were able to get to be
able to move back just twenty spots felt like it
was too good to be able to pass up. And
we're gonna come away with some good football players. Small
for sure, looking back to what these spots get a
number one next year?
Speaker 3 (02:47):
That link wi and is right to do this?
Speaker 1 (02:51):
What do you think?
Speaker 3 (02:55):
That's what the charts say, dude?
Speaker 2 (02:59):
But again, having a one next year that that doesn't
you gotta have. You gotta have someone that really wants to,
you know, come up to to give up that type
of pick. And again there was there was a multiple
teams that wanted to come either up from later behind
us in the first round and even in the second round.
Speaker 3 (03:18):
It's just the Falcons.
Speaker 2 (03:19):
I wanted mister Pierce a little more than they wanted
whomever they.
Speaker 3 (03:22):
Were coming up for.
Speaker 2 (03:26):
No, we're we're probably wasn't expecting a one. Uh, they're
based on the qbs of this draft. There was some
scenarios where he said, Okay, maybe a QB falls in
a team. Uh, if they really liked that, QB would
give you a next year one. Usually it is for QB.
Speaker 3 (03:45):
So we ran through that scenario.
Speaker 2 (03:47):
But you can't plan for that one.
Speaker 3 (03:56):
You know what.
Speaker 2 (03:56):
Uh, I can't say this. You only live once. Don't
be scared. You only got one life. Make sure you're
not scared while you're living it. So you know what,
James living his best life tonight, go get him.
Speaker 3 (04:10):
James. Make any attempt to move up to try and.
Speaker 1 (04:16):
Get someone a particular player were unsuccessful.
Speaker 2 (04:21):
The answers, Uh, yes, but it was really for no
particular player. We just wanted to get up and see
how the board fell. No, yeah we did. We did
make uh we did, uh, you know, try to move back,
but it would the value going up there. But teams
were asking too much or more than we would give.
(04:51):
Lusters stood out player.
Speaker 1 (04:57):
Wow, you're not answering that.
Speaker 2 (05:01):
Jordan will text you appreciate the I'm gonna run like
I'm gonna text you by I'll take a picture of
our board and text it to you as long as
it's between us. But I can't we have. We did
talk about strategies. Okay, if we do move back, right,
we do have some players in mind, and what we'll
go is, once this is over, we'll go see how
(05:22):
this first round ended. And then well you're gonna have
to run through your scenarios because we have about I
think fourteen picks before next one. So but we do
have we have specific players in mind.
Speaker 1 (05:32):
I think the good thing too, is is there wasn't
you know, not necessarily the exact order, but there wasn't
a lot of surprises in regards to who you think
is gonna go in those first twenty five picks. This
was always this scenario unless there was specific things that
go up that you probably are saying you're gonna go back.
And we felt like going into it talking even this morning,
this was gonna be the most likely scenario where we
(05:53):
probably weren't gonna pick tonight, and for it to come
to fruition and for us to be able to get
the value back ended up being better than we anticipated.
But I think you know, you look at it, and uh,
obviously the Falcons had a real appreciation for who they
were coming up, and that's what's so unique about the draft.
No different than us really wanted to go up for
Fisk last year. Those point charts, those things are out
the window when you have a real appreciation for a player,
(06:15):
and uh and they clearly had that and so kind
of the uh it aligned for us, and you know,
Tony did a really good job of being able to
communicate with them throughout even you know, a handful of
picks ahead.
Speaker 2 (06:37):
I mean, really, it's it's I think it's it's it's
really now at that point all the work that goes
into setting a board that is I always say that's
boards specific to each team, specific to us, based on
right needs, fits players we like. So now now it
truly is looking up and and and waiting and seeing
(06:58):
and and at that point.
Speaker 3 (06:59):
Using the board. That's why we stacked it. Definitely, it was.
Speaker 2 (07:26):
It was fun to watch. You know, it's because James
was here from Afar and and and I call it,
uh attack be aggressive. Obviously they had a lot of
passion for that player. We didn't discuss a lot leading
up to the draft, so, uh, surprise for me.
Speaker 3 (07:42):
Uh I, but I.
Speaker 2 (07:43):
Can't say you know what that here's what I can say.
James always had an affinity uh for mister Hunter. I
didn't ever think it was realistic for him though, Uh
but I do know this. There was a moment in
the last couple of weeks where he was really asking.
I was connecting him with a good friend of mine
(08:05):
that knows mister Hunter whale, and I'm like, James, you
can't get what are you doing?
Speaker 3 (08:09):
Why were wasting time?
Speaker 2 (08:10):
So I had a little inkling that maybe something was up.
Speaker 1 (08:22):
For now, we do for now.
Speaker 2 (08:26):
Oh, Sean's gonna get impatient. In the morning, we're gonna
scream back up and give all right, thank you, thank
you all
