Speaker 1 (00:00):
I thought we had a great week in Baltimore, did
a nice job. You know. We flew over here Friday
night with quits to like a red eye, and then
I had a little walk through Saturday, I went to sleep,
pieced it together, and went out and played good Sunday.
So I mean listen, first second quarter of the game,
we were sitting there going, man, you know, that was glad.
Speaker 2 (00:22):
We you know, did what we did.
Speaker 1 (00:23):
We're just going out there trying to execute win a game,
and we were able to do it, which was awesome.
But really, just going back to the week of work,
I thought our guys did a great job. Our coaches
and players did a great job of just having you know,
a bunch of uh you know, enjoyment and execution out
there and practice, and it showed up on Sunday.
Speaker 2 (00:51):
Yeah, it was great.
Speaker 1 (00:52):
You know, we moved the pocket early, was able to
get out on the edge and and find some guys.
I thought all of our tight ends played really well today, receivers, backs,
everybody kind of had had their hand in it, which
was nice. But yeah, we spread the ball around a
bunch today, a bunch of guys that caught it and
made some plays. So I'm just excited for where our
offense is going. Obviously, there's a little bit of lull
there in the third quarter, some plays that we'd like
(01:12):
to clean up, you know, just maybe a couple of uh,
you know, plays on third down keep us on the field,
and but our defense at a hell of a job
got us the ball back and you know we were
able to capitalize. Do I get a sword or something? Uh,
(01:39):
I didn't, you know, I was in the game. So
it's a cool thing. Uh. We'll see how long it lasts.
But I'm I'm uh, I guess it's it's a cool
thing to have happened. Obviously, this is my third time
playing over here. It's a blast. You know, sometimes travels
is tough, but once you get out here, the fans
are great. People are great, love the game, and and
I was glad that we just came away with a wind.
(01:59):
Makes the flight home a hell.
Speaker 2 (02:01):
Of a lot better. I would still be able to see.
Speaker 1 (02:14):
Yeah, I mean it's part of the game.
Speaker 2 (02:15):
You know.
Speaker 1 (02:16):
In the NFL, we deal with injuries week in and
week out. Obviously, not having Pook out there was a
big one too, was kind of limited. Uh, you know,
after the first driving the game or second driving the
game felt like, so, you know, we had some guys
step up and make some plays. Obviously, Davante's as good
a receiver has been in this league for a long time,
so really happy for his day. He did a nice job,
you know, obviously getting open, making some great plays in
(02:37):
the red zone, you know, putting them on the en
zone for us.
Speaker 2 (02:40):
So we're lucky to have.
Speaker 1 (02:41):
Him and and uh, you know, just just happy that
we got it done. Yeah, I mean that they're an
aggressive team, you know, I think their defensive coordinator is
a nice job, uh, you know, bringing different blitz packages.
It was kind of one of those games, you know,
like a little bit of tough, tough game to kind
(03:02):
of throw and catch with the ball, and and just
the way the field was going, so they were playing
sticky and coverage a lot and and bring in some pressures. So,
you know, hats off to them. Their their you know,
aggressive style defense. They got a really good front, a
bunch of first round picks all over that, all over
that front. I thought, for the most part, our guys
did a really nice job of just battling. I mean,
that's what that's what NFL football is all about sign
to be perfect every single time they plays. You want back,
(03:24):
you know, things we can clean up. But man, they
battled and and uh you know when when we needed
it most, were able to come up with some touchdowns. Yeah,
I mean, obviously we're in a better spot record wise.
You know, I think there's you know, it's still a
lot to be cleaned up in a lot of things
that we can be better at. But we've done a
nice job through the first uh you know, seven of
(03:46):
finding ways to win games most of the time. You know,
there's there's definitely some you want back, But today was
a nice complete game. I thought our defense played outstanding,
you know, offense were able to you know, punch it in.
We got in the red zone. That's huge, you know,
point differential from some other games you look at, you
know during the season where it's you know, we're scoring
twenty one or twenty three, and then it's thirty five
(04:08):
today because we you know, we punched it in. It
just that league can really open up, and and you know,
we played off each other. You know, well today I
felt like.
Speaker 2 (04:18):
We got to work on the second question, are you
feeling or.
Speaker 1 (04:26):
Ask me tomorrow It'll be a wild one flying back
right now. But uh, for as far as DeVante goes, no,
I mean, we didn't do anything different, just went out
there in practice. Obviously we were practicing a baseball stadium,
which was kind of cool, But there wasn't, you know,
anything different, just going about our business, continue and try
to talk to each other, work with each other, and
(04:46):
just develop as best we possibly can. And I thought
today was a great example of that. He made some
great plays again, you know, a couple of plays that
were penalty yards that man. You know, if if if
they don't p I M or whatever it is, we
make that catch, it's a It's a huge day statistically
for him. But he knows he's doing his part for
our team, which is amazing. He's such a great teammate.
So fired up for him. And as far as jet
(05:08):
Light goes, yeah, I mean, it was an interesting twenty
four to forty eight hours. It's going to be uh,
you know, another bit interesting when we fly all the
way back to La tonight. But just excited to get
a win and have a little break. Yeah, that was good.
(05:30):
It was a step in the right direction for us.
Anytime you can get a win in the NFL, it's
hard to win NFL football games. Don't care how you
get it done. Glad that we got it done in
the fashion that we did today. I felt like as
a team we played well. But yeah, it's nice. Nice
being back at Wimbley and getting a dub. I don't know,
(05:53):
you know, it's different. Every team is different. You come
into the NFL every single year. I feel like there's
like thirty percent turnover on your team. So you got
new new new players on your team, different style that
you got to kind of figure out, Hey, what's going
to be us this year. And we're doing that and
developing that and getting wins along the way, which is awesome,
you know, and and I still feel like there's a
lot more you know, success out there for us. I'm unfamiliar.
Speaker 2 (06:25):
I don't know.
Speaker 1 (06:26):
Uh no, that's okay, you know, you know, that's all right.
Uh No, But I think they're great at.
Speaker 2 (06:31):
Them good cool, Uh all right.
Speaker 3 (06:48):
Yeah, Well I'm proud of the team just how they,
you know, handle the trip in general, obviously being smart
first and foremost the you know, traveling and not having
curfew for maybe a couple of nights and and just
being smart about that.
Speaker 2 (07:06):
So being on the road is not easy obviously, that
that long.
Speaker 3 (07:09):
It's a lot different than the way we you know,
we normally do it, you know, baseball and some of
those other sports, they get kind of used to doing that.
So just the way we handled the the the trip
in general was good. And you know, even last night
I went to sleep at like ten thirty, ten forty
five and woke up at four actually got to say
good night to my kids, which was weird, and uh
and laid in bed for another five hours.
Speaker 2 (07:30):
I couldn't go back to sleep.
Speaker 3 (07:31):
So so for us to I think it was a
couple other guys that kind of had a similar situation,
So for us to be low and energy, you know,
as far as sleep and and kind of being weird
our time clocks.
Speaker 2 (07:41):
I was proud of the way.
Speaker 3 (07:42):
We came out, you know, and uh, you know, credit
to the the fans out here in London for bringing
the energy to and and uh, you know, participating in
some of the celebrations too, which is a lot of fun.
And uh, yeah, it's never easy when you're doing it
a little bit different than the way you normally do it.
Speaker 2 (07:55):
But proud of the way we, uh we handle it.
Speaker 3 (07:57):
You talked about like that, get that area, stay over
so you like really display especially.
Speaker 2 (08:06):
So yeah, and you take us through what happened there. Yeah, No,
we we had.
Speaker 3 (08:12):
I mean, just like just like anything, it starts with
practice in the way that we we go about it.
Not that we haven't been you know, practicing hard and
and will, but just the intentionality. You know, I I
went into this week. I told you guys earlier in
the week, you know, I wasn't satisfied with the the efficiency,
you know, specifically him targeting me. Uh, you know whatever
it it's been, you know it. Some of 'em has
(08:33):
been in been me, some of 'em been to throw.
But just figuring it out and getting on the right page.
And uh, you know, I take a lot of pride
in in what I do and the product I might
able to help put out on the on the field.
So you know, it was there was some texting going on,
you know, us talking through certain things, and even before
the Baltimore game, just working on a few things. So
starting out obviously the first two not getting 'em, we
(08:53):
were like, okay, you know, just keep keep being ourselves
and not try to press cause I think that's what
you can kind of fall into that hole sometimes where
or you just not working and you know, tried to
do something that's you know, outside of your body or whatever.
And similar to what Aaron used to tell me, we
don't need any herculean efforts. It's just you know, go
out and be yourself and and uh, you know that
that's what we did today.
Speaker 2 (09:15):
That's going you need to do is either start to
use that or that.
Speaker 1 (09:21):
Fits that.
Speaker 2 (09:23):
He was going through kills.
Speaker 3 (09:25):
Absolutely, no, that's that's the type of I mean, he's
a he's a killer, that's what That's what killers do.
Speaker 2 (09:29):
They go out and kill.
Speaker 3 (09:30):
So it's it's never easy when you're operating in elements
like that. But you know, we started off a a
little slow here and I and then you know, but
the rest of the office was rolling, so we were
able to kind of keep the ball moving and then
found our opportunities in there and took advantage. Uh we
(09:54):
should just run all the same place. U. Yeah, just
run run 'em all back and until they stop it.
I mean, I mean it honestly, just what we were
presented with on defense today. We had we saw a
few opportune moments to to go and you know, take
advantage to one on ones, marrying up up the the
the run game with the past game and the second
touchdown in the back of the end zone there that
(10:15):
was a.
Speaker 2 (10:15):
Playoff for the play we ran literally right before that.
Speaker 3 (10:17):
So just kind of keeping the mind is figuring out
a way to you know, to punch it in and
you know, I pride myself of being a a a
solid red zone target.
Speaker 2 (10:25):
So it was glad we were able to show that today.
Speaker 3 (10:28):
Uh yeah, you record, m it was great. I mean it,
it's gonna make this this this uh this is buy
a a hell of a lot sweeter, that's for sure.
Anytime you you know, got a a long break from
a Thursday game to your next game or you know,
whatever the case may be, it's a little harder when
(10:50):
you're coming off of uh a l So just being
able to to rally and figure it out and and
come out with a lot of energy and have a good,
convincing win like this.
Speaker 2 (10:57):
It was great. Multi tasters, yeah, no, I.
Speaker 3 (11:04):
That yeah, I feel like I'm I'm connected with the
the country, the the the people now. So it's I mean,
I would love to come out and do it every week, honestly,
but it's it's it's a tough game. So anytime you can,
you know, put up three in a game, it's, uh,
it's a it's a pretty big deal. So I'm I'm
fortunate to have quarterback like I do, and and just
the squad that I'm on as well to help me out,
you know, y it's it's I try to help them out.
Speaker 2 (11:25):
So it's it's good to kind of have.
Speaker 3 (11:26):
That be r uh reciprocated. And uh, I mean, just
like true pros man. Both of 'em are like if
you if you didn't know, I mean, Ferg looks a
little young in the face and so doas SODA's knaate.
But I mean the way they go about their business
is like true pros man.
Speaker 2 (11:46):
I it's been real easy.
Speaker 3 (11:48):
To have somebody I call uh uh, y'all shouldn't pick
on him if you talk to him, But but I
call Kannat my son just cause he just remind me
so much of myself as far as you know, kind
of a yu a young day. And honestly, I think
he's ahead of where I us, you know, my rookie
year as far as just being comfortable in the league.
And you know, I mean, he's crazy coachable and and
just got all the ability in the world. So you know, whenever,
(12:09):
whenever I'm done, and there he he'll he'll go and
step up and he'll be catching a lot more touchdowns.
Speaker 2 (12:13):
Of what he did today.
Speaker 1 (12:14):
So long you talk about how you pride your soul
so much off you're playing Retzo, I guess just.
Speaker 2 (12:19):
What was different.
Speaker 3 (12:22):
Your I mean just just the execution. I mean, you
hear me talk about that all the time. We can
talk about, you know, the the plays or the defense
or whatever a bunch of times, but I mean not
every play we went out there and executed it on
was a premier look. And and we've just found a way.
I think it's that's what you gotta do sometimes. And
really there was some more out there if you if
you look at some of the penalties that you know
we drew, you know, third down PI or holding or
(12:45):
whatever it was, and you know the the the other
third down where you're trying to throw it down the
field and keeping that drive going.
Speaker 2 (12:51):
So so it's some more hidden yard of gene there too.
Speaker 3 (12:53):
Whereas you know, if they didn't commit those penalties, it
could have been a a much better product than what
it was. But it's a it's a good feeling and
know that you know we're we're doing everything we can
to maximize us.
Speaker 2 (13:04):
Appreciate it.
