Speaker 1 (00:00):
And see out here in Hawaii these tax two day parts.
Speaker 2 (00:03):
Yeah, I think really it's just you know, it's about
connection and being able to get some time. It's cool
to be able to, you know, really for me, meet
a lot of these guys families that maybe I haven't
met quite yet, or see their wives or girlfriends or
their kids, and so that's been a really cool thing
so far.
Speaker 3 (00:18):
And then you get a chance to you know, do
some stuff with the community.
Speaker 2 (00:20):
You know, I know my wife and some of the
other wives were doing some things that's probably going on
right now back over at the hotel.
Speaker 4 (00:27):
You know, you get a chance. We'll have a kids
camp later today.
Speaker 3 (00:30):
So this is.
Speaker 2 (00:31):
About being able to get some good quality time with
each other and then being able to use the platform
that we're blessed with to be able to get back
to a community that went through some similar things that
we can all understand and kind of empathize with. And
you see how excited they are to see our players,
and that's fun.
Speaker 5 (00:47):
Last week, Defonte was talking about how we see so
much crossover happen, said you don't in other teams. He
hasn't maybe seen the punter talking to the quarterback kind
of thing is that something you see and experience with
this team, you.
Speaker 2 (01:00):
Know, I think we got a lot of guys that
all have unique different personalities, but they all have similar
core values and things that you know that they can
kind of interact and understand with one another, and we
The nice thing, Sarah is is in the off season,
you're not as pressed for time on certain things, and
so there are some opportunities to really be able to
get to know one another. But that's a credit to
(01:21):
people like Davante and the other guys in our locker room,
where there's a lot of just cross interaction. It's not
exclusively just your position group. And I do think, you know,
one of the things that I'm really pleased with. I
really love the way that our staff is coming together.
And then I think our team and that's going to
continuously be a focal point for us. It always is
any good team that I've ever been a part of,
there's an authentic connection and I don't think you can
(01:42):
force those things, but you have a lot of like
minded people that also have their individual personalities that make
up what's special.
Speaker 3 (01:48):
About the group.
Speaker 4 (01:49):
And I thought that was really cool.
Speaker 2 (01:50):
I did see that he said that and those are
the atmospheres and environments that you hope to be able
to kind of facilitate.
Speaker 4 (01:56):
And it's about people like.
Speaker 3 (01:57):
Him that your bilth here.
Speaker 2 (01:59):
I mean you go think so I think those I
think that happens in whatever it is, whether it's hanging
out in the training room with Reggie guys doing some
stuff after practices and the meeting rooms when you hear
some good laughter. And so we want to be able
to have you know, you've heard us talk about it before.
I think you're always striving when it just relates to football.
Let's have the appropriate urgency, but let's make sure we
enjoy it. It's going to be hard work, but it
(02:19):
doesn't mean it needs to be miserable in pursuit of,
you know, trying to reach our and realize our highest potential.
Also coming together and having an appreciation for what makes
everybody kind of different, but towards the collective of the team.
Speaker 1 (02:31):
Sean, this is I think the last time we'll talk
to you before training camp. So bear with me for
a couple In all boys question, can you update us
on Aleric Jackson and the signing of DJ Hulmes.
Speaker 2 (02:41):
Yeah, so, really, you know it's really unfortunate, and we
just he is such a stud and what Alaric has
done and what he's kind of been through.
Speaker 3 (02:49):
You know, you go back to the twenty two season.
Speaker 2 (02:51):
And he had these blood clots and you know, when
you hear that, it's such a serious thing and you've
got to get on the appropriate medicine. And so what
I do think is great is he was able to
communicate with feeling some things in his in his lower
leg and he ended up going and getting a scan
and it revealed that that was the case. And so
you pray for him to be able to have a healthy,
safe recovery, and we're really just taking it a day at.
Speaker 3 (03:11):
A time with him.
Speaker 2 (03:12):
You know, these are there's a lot of examples of
people that have had situations like this, but they're all
still so uniquely independent in their own right, and so
we're gathering information.
Speaker 4 (03:22):
What we did want to be.
Speaker 2 (03:23):
Able to do in the meantime was be proactive about
a contingency plan that doesn't DJ is a guy that
we have a lot of respect for, obviously familiarity with
him just playing against him, and he's a veteran and
so felt like that was definitely the right move for
our team in the meantime. But I'll probably have a
lot more information for you once we start up camp.
Speaker 3 (03:42):
But Alex's doing well.
Speaker 2 (03:44):
You know, got him on a on a plan that's
you know, geared towards getting him as healthy as as
quickly as possible, and that's the most important thing.
Speaker 1 (03:50):
For can you put it?
Speaker 2 (03:53):
He's not you know, we we's He's in Detroit with
his family right now and being able to get healthy,
and he's in good spirits. And I know that he's
got a lot of love from his teammates and coaches
just supporting him.
Speaker 3 (04:03):
And like I said, we'll take it a day to
time within a play play here, go ahead with this,
I'll come back till Kenry.
Speaker 6 (04:09):
Is there anything you can draw on from his first
experience with this that's helping you get him?
Speaker 2 (04:13):
It's a good question, and you know, I think that's
probably a better question for Reggie and and for Aleric.
Speaker 4 (04:18):
What we're going to do is we're gonna.
Speaker 2 (04:20):
Take this just a day at a time, and you know,
there's some immediate things which I'll provide some more context
once we get back to camp that these are the
treatment plans, and then we'll be able to see, all right,
when those steps and you're checking off those boxes, what's
the next thing? There needs to be a lot of
discussion and dialogue with him and with the doctors about,
you know, most importantly what's best for him as a
human being, and then you talk.
Speaker 3 (04:40):
About football after that.
Speaker 2 (04:41):
But what we are grateful for is that we're able
to identify this based on his communication and get him
on the appropriate medicine to make sure that you know,
he's his healthy at posse Cooch.
Speaker 6 (04:50):
From a community aspect, especially for the players, it's great
to see the play football. But in terms of you
guys have been here in Mali, especially with the wildfire University
coming in a couple of months, what doesn't mean the
players to be here? For the student athletes and then
also for aston ableets to see the players, it.
Speaker 2 (05:03):
Means a lot, you know, And I think there's a
lot of understanding just based on some of the things
that the LA community went through, and so there's a
lot of empathy. There's a lot of understanding and our players.
What's so great about the group of men that we
have in our locker room is they understand this this
platform that they're blessed with to be able to give back,
and a lot of these guys, you know, they remember
when they were in these chairs and they were in
these positions and being able to meet some of their heroes,
(05:24):
and so I think they understand, you know, to bring
the right vibe, the energy. But that's authentic to who
these guys are. And I just feel really grateful to
be a small part and to be around them because
they're They're the type of group that makes you want
to be better.
Speaker 3 (05:36):
And not let them down.
Speaker 2 (05:37):
And it'll be a great opportunity for us to be
able to give back to the malee community.
Speaker 5 (05:40):
Right, that's coat Yeah, what doesn't mean to just be
a you know you already mentioned, but a part of
an organization who's willing to do this.
Speaker 2 (05:46):
Well, I think that's you know, there is a role
and a responsibility that you do have. You know, this
is a blessing to be in these positions, and you know,
you want to be able to find authentic opportunities to
be able to partner up with people or situations where
our players can really make a cool impact. And so
this represented that sometimes they end up presenting themselves and
(06:07):
I thought this was a really cool thing and it's
also a great chance for us to be in a.
Speaker 3 (06:10):
Beautiful setting and a.
Speaker 2 (06:12):
Lot of a lot of smiles and a lot of
good laughs that have gone on in the last day
since we've been here, and so hopefully that'll continue all
the way through Thursday.
Speaker 1 (06:18):
Can you okay kill up data on kyn Williams situation, yep,
Darien Kendrick and the possible interest or pursuit of Jalen
rev I.
Speaker 3 (06:28):
Got you so.
Speaker 2 (06:29):
So the first thing with Kyroen, you know, it's really
the same as you know.
Speaker 3 (06:33):
There's been a lot of back and forth.
Speaker 2 (06:34):
There's been some good proposals on both sides where we're
we are getting closer to hopefully finding a conclusion to
this now until that's actually agreed upon from both sides,
you know, we're really in the same boat.
Speaker 4 (06:45):
But behind the scenes, I think there's been really good.
Speaker 2 (06:48):
Dialogue from Drew, really good dialogue from Kiren and just
his group overall. He's done everything in his power to
show up, be that pro that leader everything that we've asked,
and so we're trying to be able to solve that
and if we were able to land that, we'll be
excited about that. But no different than really kind of
when we spoke about this last week. But I do
think that behind the scenes there has been progress in
(07:10):
terms of getting closer to what the end goal is,
and that's to be able to get.
Speaker 3 (07:14):
Him under contract.
Speaker 2 (07:14):
Now, whether that occurs or not, you know, we'll see,
and well we'll take that a day at a time
and a conversation at a time. As far as Darren Kendrick,
you know, really glad that he was able to get
back with us. It was really just a you know,
kind of a financial business deal based on some things
that he had earned the right for his salary to
fall where it was, and we had, you know, once
he got cleared, he's done.
Speaker 3 (07:33):
He's done a great job this offseason.
Speaker 2 (07:34):
I think, you know, his ability to improve his ability
to attack, to rehab the right way, his flexibility to
play inside and outside. You know, Aubrey and I unless
sat down with him and told him, a you know,
here's here's a couple of different options. Here's what we think,
but let's just make sure that you understand that we
want you back if this is a place that you
feel you still want to be able.
Speaker 3 (07:54):
To be at. And so that was the end goal
in mind.
Speaker 2 (07:56):
And you we weren't able to really communicate all those
things to you guys, but the end goal was semantically
a business thing. Then you get him back with some
of the different things that have occurred since as it
relates to DJ Humphries, as it relates to you know,
getting DK back.
Speaker 3 (08:10):
No updates on the Jalen situation.
Speaker 4 (08:12):
I think I know that you.
Speaker 2 (08:14):
Know, there there's been, you know, some possible conversations that
we've had, but there's a there's a lot of layers
and a lot of parameters that would need to take place.
Speaker 4 (08:21):
But there's really no update that I.
Speaker 2 (08:23):
Have in that regard, and you know, I apologize for that,
but that is kind of the truth of.
Speaker 4 (08:27):
Where we're at.
Speaker 1 (08:27):
And Pooka wearing number twenty three, Yeah, I got it.
Was that his supportive signing Kiren or what you.
Speaker 4 (08:33):
Should really looking deep in?
Speaker 3 (08:34):
Well, I don't know.
Speaker 4 (08:35):
I don't know.
Speaker 2 (08:36):
You know, if TO two had on twelve, I think
and Kiren had on TO two jerseys, so I think
it was three guys having fun swapping jerseys there.
Speaker 4 (08:43):
But I like where you're going with that there.
Speaker 5 (08:44):
Gary talk about the layers to the Hirens situation, what
are those?
Speaker 2 (08:52):
But it's really you know, the things that I would
say are, all right, well, what is his salary?
Speaker 4 (08:57):
All right?
Speaker 2 (08:57):
And then you know, are we able to take that
on just on our current situation. When you onboard a
player that's earned the right to be paid where he's at,
those are things that you usually are planning months in advance,
and obviously was unforeseen.
Speaker 3 (09:08):
That he'd become available.
Speaker 2 (09:10):
And then if you do execute a trade, what are
they looking for in return? Is there a conversation be
at in terms of a portion of that contract that
they'd pay do that?
Speaker 4 (09:18):
Are they interested in players or draft capital?
Speaker 2 (09:20):
And so there's a lot of layers to that, but
I think the main thing is because Jalen is the
caliber player that he is, he's earned the right to
be where he's at. Usually those are scenarios and situations
that you have to have plans in place prior to
executing some of the decisions.
Speaker 4 (09:35):
That have occurred.
Speaker 2 (09:36):
Definitely don't want to rule anything out, because we're always
open minded to onboarding and acquiring you know, quality players
and people like him if we're able to do that,
But there would be you know, some some obstacles that
are real that are in the place of maybe preventing
that from.
Speaker 3 (09:50):
A current coach.
Speaker 6 (09:51):
Could this be a prelude to you guys coming back
for a preseason game in Hawaii down the line.
Speaker 3 (09:55):
Yeah, you know, I'm not sure about that.
Speaker 2 (09:57):
You know, that's should I try to just taking a
year to time, you know, coaching years or dog years.
Speaker 3 (10:02):
So I know this.
Speaker 2 (10:04):
When we did come here in twenty nineteen, it was
a really enjoyable experience. And so far everybody's been so
welcoming and accommodating and you know, a lot of good vibes.
Speaker 3 (10:13):
So we like that. Thank you, Thank you, guys.
Speaker 4 (10:16):
I appreciate it.
Speaker 3 (10:17):
It's a polite for.
Speaker 6 (10:18):
You to be back here with all the fancy court
on just you know, really enough, so what I know about.
Speaker 7 (10:25):
It feels like home. As soon as we got off
the plane, the first person he gave me a big hug.
He had a big smile and he's like, oh, thank
you so much.
Speaker 3 (10:30):
For everything you do for the ponies.
Speaker 7 (10:32):
And it was just that's how I expected it to be,
to have a warm welcome somebody.
Speaker 3 (10:37):
Doug and I thought he was gonna have aspat Musai.
He did it, but it was all right. I hope
we got him after.
Speaker 6 (10:42):
Real put what's the story behind a handful of you
guys swapping jerseys foot breakfast?
Speaker 3 (10:46):
Today? We've pulled up some city.
Speaker 7 (10:48):
I was like, alright, if you go out there, number twelve,
maybe they'll come rush you and not me. So I
thought it was gonna work. But I forgot the hair
and everything. I'm I'm a little bigger than Kyen.
Speaker 5 (10:57):
Maybe it is.
Speaker 3 (10:57):
I'm like the depth chart might change a little bit.
He's six two. Now.
Speaker 6 (11:01):
What does it mean to be one of the outstanding
community members for the Polygian culture, but especially for Maui
and Lihin and wildfires?
Speaker 3 (11:08):
What do you guys experience in LA What does it
mean to you.
Speaker 6 (11:11):
For the players team of personally to come back can
and get back to the kids in the community.
Speaker 3 (11:15):
I think it's something that we all can relate to.
Speaker 7 (11:16):
It's something like being able to understand and have that
empathy of like, this is a similar situation to what
we were in and I wasn't directly impacted by the fires,
but to know of the support that you want to
give to those people who are going through that issue
and to see how it can change and bring a
community closer together in that time. And I think our
team has felt then and be able to come back
and get back to these kids and see a smile on.
Speaker 3 (11:38):
Their face and to help make sure they have a
good time.
Speaker 7 (11:40):
It's something that I always want to be a part of,
and I know our team and especially the RAMS organization
being able to come back here. They said last night
at the Luao that they've been doing camps and tours
here or camps here since nineteen seventy three, and I'm like,
I'm glad this I was able to be a part
of the first time we've come back in a little while.
So hopefully mini camps here every year. It would be
a good vacation for us. All COO cool.
Speaker 3 (12:00):
What was it like hanging out with the Lenai kids
over there? They're from a very small.
Speaker 4 (12:05):
Island a ways away, a boat right.
Speaker 3 (12:07):
Away, that's why they were a little late. Oh cool
with Zep. It was awesome.
Speaker 7 (12:10):
I mean, they were saying they play eight man football
over there, and I'm like, I'm not even sure how
eight man football lines up, but they got a couple
of big guys over there, and I figured they.
Speaker 3 (12:16):
Were the lineman.
Speaker 7 (12:16):
And then just to see them, I met the quarterback
for the girls team, over there too, and everybody.
Speaker 3 (12:21):
Wh's playing football, you can.
Speaker 7 (12:22):
Tell how close they are and how united are and
that's how sports should be.
Speaker 3 (12:25):
And I'm glad they got to come out here and
see us play.
Speaker 1 (12:27):
Who were some of the Polynesian players when you were
growing up that you look to that kind of paved
the way.
Speaker 7 (12:33):
Yeah, I grew up and I think everybody, especially I
know out here an Oregon fan Marcus Mariota, and when
we played him my rookie year, he was Atlanta.
Speaker 3 (12:44):
Yeah, No, was it in Atlanta? I want to say
he was with the Eagles.
Speaker 7 (12:48):
Nope, but Marcus Mariota and then obviously as a receiver,
Judie Smith Schuster was one of the ones too of
being like there weren't a lot of ponies.
Speaker 3 (12:54):
And players who played the skill position.
Speaker 7 (12:55):
So those who were some of the guys, especially on
the offensive side of the ball. You know, all of
the Polynesians are normally and the trenches on the defensive side,
the Troy Paul and Mahlo who's an absolute staple and
everybody loves and that tenacity transfers over onto the offensive side.
And I think it is watching Marcus Mario to have
that grace and that still, the physicality that comes from
our culture is awesome.
Speaker 1 (13:13):
We need to know that.
Speaker 5 (13:14):
Now there are kids who are in a way you
talk about, those players will be talking about you. What
does that mean and kind of what you represent here?
Speaker 3 (13:23):
I guess it.
Speaker 7 (13:23):
Doesn't feel real. I feel like I'm the same age
as these little kids. I'm like I'm having to blast
and like it doesn't feel real. Sometimes people are awaring
my jersey, But I hope that they carry the things
that are.
Speaker 3 (13:34):
Part of our culture.
Speaker 7 (13:34):
Respect to have the honor and the discipline to represent
your family, but also those things to carry and translate
directly into football and of having respect there. We have
guys on our.
Speaker 3 (13:43):
Team who've been doing this for twenty years, so I'm
close to it at least.
Speaker 7 (13:47):
But to have that respect and that's what the game
of football requires, and then the discipline to have the
consistency to go out there and perform very well. I
feel like those are the things that are staple in
the Poligi of community, and I know those are things
that have helped me have the success.
Speaker 3 (14:00):
I'm ad.
Speaker 2 (14:01):
Can you your family ties to Hawaii?
Speaker 4 (14:04):
You have any to Maui or is it the big
the big?
Speaker 3 (14:07):
I not out here in MAUI.
Speaker 7 (14:08):
I'm sure my uncle that I'm actually named after my
uncle man who is going to be either. I think
he's gonna be out here tomorrow. So I'm excited to
see everybody, But no, no direct ties frohow I wish.
Speaker 6 (14:17):
What's it like to have seventeen and a locker rond
just to get all the knowledge from him what he
stot could just for the NFL, but just in general
at the position. What's it like to have seventeen out here?
Speaker 7 (14:26):
It's been absolutely great. I'm like, I'm trying to steal
all the Jordan's he's got in his bag. I'm like,
they brought a big bag and he's got.
Speaker 3 (14:32):
Twenty pairs of season and I'm like, hey, those are
the same Jordans that I get. But it's been absolutely fantastic.
Speaker 7 (14:36):
Every time we get on the football field, he's so
willing and open to everybody to talk and communicate, and
he's seen so many different things. The ability to win
against negative leverage, the ability to move people out the
line of scriamage, and one understanding how coverage is, but
then how you move best on the football field. I
wish I could have the exact same skill set as
DeVante Adams, but M being able to try to communicate
and allow me to kind of add things to my
(14:58):
toolbox that fit my sk said, because I like to
think I'm a basketball player, but we're not the exact
same person.
Speaker 3 (15:04):
But he's been absolutely great to be I'll do it.
Speaker 6 (15:06):
Did you win that one game with came out on the.
Speaker 3 (15:09):
Field, I'm three and oh I'm undefeated.
Speaker 7 (15:11):
I think I'm gonna have to stop playing because everybody's
figuring out I only go right first.
Speaker 3 (15:16):
All right, Thanks, thanks, appreciate it.
