Speaker 1 (00:00):
All right, we're not a boring team to watch, I guess,
but man, our guys just did a great job. I mean,
what an amazing credit to you know, so many guys.
But you talk about complimentary ball, you're talking about just
handling the ebbs and flows. That's a damn good football
team that's played really well. I can't say enough about
just the way that I thought it was big to
be able to get the touchdown at the end of
(00:21):
the half. It was a great job by Matthew and
the offense, you know. And then to come out there
was a little bit of a low offensively when we
got the turnover. When we turn the ball over and
they have a chance to really go up two possessions.
For our defense to hold them to a field goal
right there and keep it out of one possession game,
unbelievable job. Unbelievable credit to our defense. And then offensively
and being able to go drive the length of the
(00:43):
field to get a touchdown some big time conversions. I
thought Matthew did a great job keeping the ball in play.
DeVante made some plays, obviously, pooka on the fourth down
to be able to score. Kyron was tough as hell.
You know, really the offense in general, and then for
the defense to be able to get the stop. You know,
I mean in verse when he forced the fumble on
the previous drive, but then for the defense to be
able to get the stop right there, they punted deep
(01:04):
and then you know, to two Outwells a guy. He's
been ready, He's had some opportunities, and he just delivered
in a big time moment to go for an eighty
eight yard touchdown. Cam Curll to be able to make
the pick, and then offense to end with the ball.
I love this team, really proud of the way that
our fueld goal operation handled themselves today against another really
good rush. I thought special teams was really solid. This
was a good team win against a really good team,
(01:26):
and we won't have much time to enjoy it, but
it sure makes for a good next couple of days
and we got to be ready to roll against the
Niners on Thursday. Yeah, he got his he got his
thumb banged up a little bit. He came out and
looked pretty good in the second half. What'd you think.
I think he was Okay, Yeah, he's gonna be all right.
He's a stud. I mean, what a what a tough,
gritty I mean, there's so many guys. I love this team.
(01:48):
I just love the way that they continue to just
respond to whatever is presented. Pooka epitomizes that, but so
do a lot of the guys there.
Speaker 2 (01:56):
What's it about to that let's stay ready for a
moment like that? And what do it mean for him
to well?
Speaker 1 (02:01):
I thought it was awesome. You know, you got him
in a man coverage right there. He's running kind of
a high angle cut. You know, what a job by
Matthew to be able to find it, deliver a great
ball to two runs a great route and then he's
obviously got the guess to be able to finish. So
I can't say enough about him. You just never know
when your number is going to be called, and he's
just kind of stayed ready and that's a tremendous credit
to his mental toughness, his resilience. I love him so much.
(02:22):
I'm really happy for him. And it was a you know,
we had to have that play today. It was awesome. Particular,
he's been a stud nick, I mean, the guy, he's
a he's a grown man, made play after play and
then obviously making the pick to be able to uh
you know, get the offense the ball back and and
ultimately close the game out.
Speaker 2 (02:43):
What a stud.
Speaker 1 (02:44):
Uh so glad to have him. I love camp croll.
Speaker 2 (02:47):
Do you know when to doubt that play to.
Speaker 1 (02:52):
You know what I mean honestly that that's kind of
an all purpose play. That was kind of an alert
right there. And uh, you know, I I give Matthew
a ton of credit, you know, Matthew and to two
deserve all the credit. That wasn't anything about the play call.
That was about players bringing it to life. And uh,
you know, they sure delivered in a big way right there.
It says a lot about it.
Speaker 2 (03:11):
For opportunities and.
Speaker 1 (03:13):
It says a lot, you know, And I think, uh,
you know, good things happen, you know to those who
just stay consistent and and stay ready, you know, had
some other opportunities and and just ended up delivering at
the most critical moment. Really happy for him, Like I said,
I love it. I love the human being more importantly,
and I was really happy for him to be able
to deliver and make a big play.
Speaker 2 (03:31):
For our team.
Speaker 1 (03:31):
Not surprised, but it's a tremendous credit to just his mindset,
his mental toughness, his resilience, his ability to be ready
when his number was called.
Speaker 2 (03:45):
Yeah, I think they do.
Speaker 1 (03:46):
You know, I think, you know, some of the tougher
moments are where you really bond together and where you
really learn about people. Uh, but I think you can
sense that in the midst of games, you know you're
going down. It seemed like there was some momentum, but
I never felt anything but a steady, no flinch mentality
from our group. That's how I felt really through four games.
Even when Philly ended up mounting their comeback. You know,
we still gave ourselves a chance at the end to
(04:06):
be able to do it. But you know, we're on
to uh you know, this week, I'm really proud of
this group. And man, it's still so early in the season,
but I think we're being calloused and tested in the
right way and most importantly, we're coming together and you know,
we got to continue to improve. But uh, you know
what a big opportunity that we have on Thursday night
with the Niners.
Speaker 2 (04:24):
Before the half that.
Speaker 1 (04:25):
You went down and then when you tied the game,
those were driving for everyone in the stadium knew you.
Speaker 2 (04:30):
Guys had to throw the ball and it worked.
Speaker 1 (04:33):
Yeah, So difficult for the game players executing well, I
wouldn't say it was that, Like, what do you mean
by that. Everyone knew you're gonna throw, you go down
the field, score, you got to tie the game. Everyone
knows you're gonna throw.
Speaker 3 (04:46):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (04:47):
I think our guys delivered. I think it was really
about execution, And certainly there was you know, some other
chances where I could have done a better job of
putting guys in the right spots. But I thought we
handled the end of the half situation the right way.
That touchdown to Devonte, the ball's got to get into
the end zone. What a big play on the screen
to Pooka on the second down and sixteen to get
us a fresh set of downs where we're able to
clock it and then run that play that Devanta ended
(05:09):
up scoring on. Guys just delivered and executed. And then
you know the other drive that you're talking about. I
just thought, you know, Matthew was in total command. I
thought our guys protected well. It was able to regulate
a little bit of their rush because we went fast
and we kept the ball in play. Kobe Parkinson makes
a couple of catches Pooka see DeVante come to life
and then ultimately in the tight red area to be
(05:30):
able to have that screen that ended up being versus
the zero blitz that got us to a fourth down
and two and then Pooka Nakua delivering in a big way.
Uh and then ultimately Cam getting the turnover and then
to to being able to get the game winner. And
I love the fact that we finished with the ball.
Kiren had a couple of tough runs, you know, to
be able to allow us to take a knee at
the end right there, that's a that's a great team
win for us.
Speaker 2 (05:53):
Before that, he takes yeah, he takes them the length
of the fields. Do you sense that you felt.
Speaker 1 (05:59):
Your Oh yeah, I mean, and really that's more of
a question for him, but you could feel he was
in a rhythm and he was seeing the field well.
Speaker 2 (06:07):
I thought we protected really well.
Speaker 1 (06:08):
That allowed him to be able to get through some progressions,
make some big time plays and he's a total stud.
Speaker 2 (06:13):
I love him. You know, Steve still working himself back.
Speaker 1 (06:19):
You know, I think Justin's played really good football. You
guys know how much I love Steve, And you know,
once he gets back to full health, I look forward
to seeing you know what he's able to do for us,
but he was felt like it was better to have
him up in that situation. Today, he's working, you know,
his tail off behind the scenes, and you know Steve's
gonna be a big part of what we're doing.
Speaker 2 (06:41):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (06:42):
Yeah, he did a great job, you know. And then
credit to them, you know, they did some different things
to to slow us up being able to run the football.
Like Girodd said, I was calling some bad plays, you know,
in the second half, and so you know, I got
to be better, right there.
Speaker 2 (06:58):
Coach. Last week, you guys corral Saon Barkley.
Speaker 3 (07:00):
This week, Jonathan Taylor. He just talk to me about
the dominance of the deepensive mind and when.
Speaker 1 (07:05):
You're big in a big moment, when you need a
big place coming. Yeah, Jared Versus been outstanding the last
couple of weeks. He's a stud, you know, and he
just stays with it. Joe Caniglio, Gift Smid, Drew Wilkins.
You know, really, our guys, I can't say enough about
what a great job our group has done. The players
bring it to life. I think they've got great coaches
that are helping them be able to bring it to life.
We've seen two of the best backs. And oh, by
(07:26):
the way, here comes Christian McCaffrey on Thursday. So, uh,
you know, there's no no rest for us. But love
where this group's at, love the way that they respond,
and I'm excited about the challenge on Thursday.
Speaker 2 (07:37):
Emotions are such a big part of every game.
Speaker 1 (07:39):
Yeah. So when Mitchell gave up the ball with the one, Yeah,
how does that affect the entire team besides just the scoreboard?
And sometimes, you know, sometimes the football guys are smiling
down on you have some things that you know, maybe
having gone your way in the previous week. So we'll
take it that was a don't ask me about that.
Don't put a don't put a cloud over an otherwise
(08:01):
sunny day right there.
Speaker 2 (08:07):
That's missing something. A touchdown pass it.
Speaker 3 (08:13):
H I mean it was a big one obviously, a
great route by by two. He slipped this guy up
and fall down. So hell of a job finishing it off. Uh,
not not number one in the progression, that's for sure,
But uh, just let you know, you got to stay alive,
you know, whenever, whenever your time comes to make a play.
Speaker 2 (08:33):
He he obviously made it for us, a huge play
for us.
Speaker 3 (08:39):
Done for you guys there, what was it like for
you personally.
Speaker 2 (08:43):
Just to see him? Oh? Man, I'm so proud of him,
so happy for him. He's been practicing really well.
Speaker 3 (08:48):
You know, we've dialed dialed it up for him a
couple of times and just hasn't been the look you
know a few times.
Speaker 2 (08:53):
And like Sean said, I'll reiterate it.
Speaker 3 (08:55):
He's done everything we've asked him to do and and
just so happy for him, proud of him. That's the
guy is. He just comes to work every day, no
matter what's going on around him. I'm ready to work
and practice and play and made the biggest play in
the biggest moment today.
Speaker 2 (09:10):
So proud of I'm happy for him. The ability to
be able to spread the ball around look at him
obviously the boy how much does that really kind of
eased about a little bit, especially going down and going
down and knowing you have to make those drives.
Speaker 3 (09:22):
Yeah, I mean, I'm just trying to throw the ball
where the coverage dictates. Our guys do a hell of
a job of winning and uh, you know, I'm I'm
lucky to play quarterback with this group of skill guys,
and really the guys up front it's it's a whole
lot of fun.
Speaker 2 (09:34):
You know.
Speaker 3 (09:35):
There was some some lean moments there in the third
early in the fourth where frankly that they did a
nice job of, you know, kind of affecting what we
were trying to do.
Speaker 2 (09:44):
Obviously, got the big turnover.
Speaker 3 (09:45):
What a job by our defense right there holding them
to three and you know, then we were able to
kind of get going again. So total team effort today.
But it definitely it's definitely nice. You know, we got
guys that can win at all levels of the defense
and make plays after catch, which is awesome when you
guys are down and touchdown and you did this score
went down to the score when it was first down
(10:08):
right before half on the four lart yard line.
Speaker 2 (10:10):
You go right down and score. Yep. What is it
about you? What it is about your body that you
just see more? I don't know, if attack you're not
more calm?
Speaker 3 (10:19):
Yeah, you know, there were a couple of instances today
where we were able to jump the ballplayers in tempo
and I thought Sean did a hell of a job
mixing and matching those times, calling it, you know, kind
of through through the pass game there late in the game,
and you know, when somebody does that, shoot, man makes
me want to deliver for him. And so don't care
where we start, you know, it's all about finishing in
(10:40):
the right spot. So we did a nice job of
you know, getting three three long touchdown drives, you know,
throwing the football the majority of the time, doing a
nice job playing with some tempo. So we've always mix
and matched that, you know, as as as I've been here,
you know, different iterations of it a little bit.
Speaker 2 (10:56):
But it was big for us today, There's no question
about that. And when you see your.
Speaker 3 (10:59):
Deep at that very end, are you jogging onto the
field thinking, I'm sure you're not thinking eighty touchdown to two?
Speaker 2 (11:07):
Yeah, what are you? Oh, just go get go win
a game. Yeah, I mean, go win the game. They
did their job. They did a hell of a job.
Speaker 3 (11:14):
Really all day, I didn't think it was gonna be
a one player, but uh, that was the look. It
was kind of like the last thought in my head
jogging out on the field and we called the play.
But everybody's gotta be alive, and too two did a
hell of a job winning his route and then finishing
the thing off. So, uh, big play. And then shoot,
what does our defense, do go out there, get a
(11:34):
turnover again. And then I thought, our guys up front,
we get we call two runs. We don't have to
punt it back. No weird stuff at the end of
the game. Just two runs, taking knee, get out of there.
So it's a good job of finishing the game. Yeah,
I mean, uh, you know, it's a quick turnaround for us.
We're playing again on Thursday in a few days, so sure,
(11:54):
sure nice to come away with this one and a win.
It's a really good football team. We just played physical
on both sides of the line of scrimmage. You know,
you look at their skill position, guys who they got
running back and receiver Daniel's playing great and tight end,
so big challenge for our defense.
Speaker 2 (12:06):
I thought they played great.
Speaker 3 (12:07):
And then you know we we struggled a little bit
but found some uh found some good momentum late and
we're able to win it. So uh, definitely nice when
you got a quick game turn around. So we'll take
it running down. I'm saying wild stuff. I was actually
miked up today. You know it's coming off the field.
(12:28):
I'm like, hey man, we're gonna have to We're gonna
have to do some heavy editing, it'll probably just be
a lot of silence.
Speaker 2 (12:35):
But uh, I don't even know. I just go crazy.
Speaker 3 (12:38):
I'm just so excited for our team, so excited for
that moment twitch to play for so uh, I'll see,
I'll save the expletives for you. But it was it
was fun for this team a hundred percent. You know,
It's that's what it's all about. I mean, it's the NFL.
It's never just these show up, you know, asks for
(13:00):
four quarters and go home. I mean, it's just playing
good football teams. You're playing a three and o colts
team today that you know is arguably the hottest team
in the NFL coming in here so punted like one
time or something. I don't know, so I knew it
was going to be a dog fight, and just proud
of our guys.
Speaker 2 (13:15):
Uh.
Speaker 3 (13:16):
It's something that when I wasn't practicing in training camp,
I could see it from afar and I was excited
and proud, you know, to be associated with those guys
and then uh, you know, getting to be able to
get back into it and play and and lead these guys. It's, uh,
it's a whole lot of fun to be a part of.
I mean, I just feel like I'm a part of
a great group of guys that all trying to do
everything they can to win games and pull for each other,
(13:36):
which is cool.
Speaker 2 (13:38):
Difficulty to play two games in four Yeah, it's tough.
Speaker 3 (13:43):
It gets tougher and tougher for me every year, but uh,
we'll do a great job of turning our turning the
bodies over. You know. I guess maybe the one you
know positive for us is we're in division, so we
kind of know a decent amount.
Speaker 2 (13:56):
Of these guys, right and what they're kind of about.
Speaker 3 (13:59):
So it's not you know, some opponent we rarely ever
play or ever see, and you got a really deep
dive and learn you know everything he is to learn,
So that part of it is good.
Speaker 2 (14:09):
But yeah, I mean I just.
Speaker 3 (14:09):
Think Thursday practice when I jog out onto the field,
like sometimes how you feel going out to that and
you're like, I'm gonna have to do that for a
game day. But adrenalines a hell of a thing, So
we'll be a right last one. I feel like every
week we asked you about a big perfect game, but
just what is the luxury like to have as as
receivers steady as he is and how does what he's
doing kind of help out some of those other receivers
(14:30):
in there. Yeah, I mean he's he's uh, he's as
tough as they come. You know, he did a hell
of a job again today. We called his number quite
a few times. The fourth down was huge, the touchdown catch.
You know, he just uh, he's he's a heck of
a football player. We're lucky to have him on our team.
I think his uh play style rubs off on everybody
on our team, not just offense.
Speaker 2 (14:51):
You know.
Speaker 3 (14:51):
I think our defense looks at him is like, we'll
right with that guy all day. And I know that's
how we feel on offense. So he made some great
plays today, made a great catch on a end cut
sliding in there. You know, he just he did what
he always does, made some great tough plays and and well,
happy to have him in that room.
Speaker 2 (15:07):
Okay, cool, thank you,
