Speaker 1 (00:00):
Okay, guys, you know, congratulations to Atlanta. They came out
ready to go and they took control of the football game.
And we didn't do any of the things that we
came out to try to be able to do to
start off that game. And you give them credit, they
created a lot of those things, but you know, we
didn't help ourselves with our overall execution. Couldn't get into
a rhythm offensively, we weren't able to get any you know,
removal on the run game. We ended up giving up
(00:21):
explosives that was a big thing that we talked about
not doing. They end up taking a pick back for
a touchdown. And so I love the way that we
found a way to be able to get ourselves back
in that football game, but we weren't able to close
it out. And so we make no excuses, but we
weren't good enough. I do like the fight of this group,
the way that we handled ourselves in the second half,
and we had our chances to be able to close
that game out. And here we are again in a
(00:44):
disappointing situation. But this is a humbling league, and we
got humbled tonight. Yeah, I wish I had an answer,
you know, I thought they had a good week of preparation.
We just didn't have that balance in our step missing
some guys. But it's no excuse, and so, uh, you know,
we got to be able to figure it out. In
(01:04):
a lot of instances, it comes back to, you know,
our collective, are we putting our guys in the right
sort of spots and then ultimately are we executing And
we'll look at it, but uh, it wasn't good enough
as a whole. And it starts with me, Oh we're playing, Yeah,
they're playing, No, they were gonna play anyways, we need
(01:24):
to play.
Speaker 2 (01:25):
We need to play better football.
Speaker 1 (01:27):
So I you know, I don't know what the consequences
are and those different types of things, but.
Speaker 2 (01:34):
We gotta play better.
Speaker 3 (01:36):
Any thought, this is the first time, you know, I
I certainly don't think so, I certainly hope not.
Speaker 2 (01:48):
You know, you give them credit.
Speaker 1 (01:49):
They made the plays we didn't, and I think it's
as simple as that. You know, we can, we can,
you know, look at a lot of different things. Ultimately,
it's my responsibility to have us read to go, and
we weren't ready to go from the jump. And that
I did think our special teams was a major step
in the right direction. That was a positive. I thought
the Jared I thought the blocked kick with the touchdown.
(02:11):
Those are the types of plays you have to make
to get yourself back.
Speaker 2 (02:13):
In the game. We did that.
Speaker 1 (02:14):
We were able to get back and tie it, and
then we got to get a stop, and then we
got to be able to make the plays that were
capable of making when we do get the ball back
to even give ourselves a chance to be able to
tie it up, because there were some opportunities to do that,
but it was too many things to overcome.
Speaker 2 (02:27):
We put ourselves behind the eight ball, and so I
were sitting here with the l you know, I have
to go back and look at it. I mean, you know,
we didn't.
Speaker 1 (02:36):
There were some instances where, you know, we weren't connected
up front and they were able to get some some guys,
you know, kind of free where Matthew was having to
move a little bit quicker. We had a lot of
big plays called back because of some penalties.
Speaker 2 (02:48):
But you have to go back and look at it. Yeah,
it wasn't his, It wasn't his. You know, he's he's
a total stud.
Speaker 1 (02:57):
We wouldn't be in a lot of the great situations
we're in without him, But tonight was it was a
knight that you know, he's capable of playing better.
Speaker 2 (03:05):
The playoffs, regardless.
Speaker 3 (03:10):
On the road.
Speaker 2 (03:12):
You know, I don't.
Speaker 1 (03:13):
I don't look at it. I don't attribute that to
the road. I attribute to you know, just our overall.
I didn't think we played bad against Seattle. You know,
we had our chances. You know, tonight we didn't play
very well. We gave ourselves a chance to get back
at the you know, in that game in the second half,
you tie it up, you come back from down twenty one,
but it was too much to overcome.
Speaker 2 (03:30):
You give them credit. They made the plays. We didn't make.
No excuses.
Speaker 4 (03:35):
Tough situation, experienced lineman or less experienced lineman.
Speaker 1 (03:39):
But I do, yeah, definitely, I gotta look at it,
you know, but it's something we've emphasized.
Speaker 2 (03:49):
You know, Bjeon's an unbelievable player. He had been doing that.
Speaker 1 (03:53):
But you give up a ninety three yard touchdown. You know,
we we obviously, you know, hate that we turned the
ball over there deep in the territory. Your things will
be able to flip the field and he goes ninety
three yards and you give him a vertical seam and
he's the type of player that can do that, and
we've got to be better.
Speaker 4 (04:08):
Okay, thank you, Oh poorly you know, obviously didn't play
well enough. Nothing they did, to be honest with you,
same kind of stuff that they've been doing all year.
Just we didn't execute well enough. I obviously didn't play
well enough. And uh that's what it is.
Speaker 3 (04:30):
Thank you, guys.
Speaker 4 (04:30):
To play. Yeah, I love playing the game, so yeah,
I'll be ready to go.
Speaker 3 (04:40):
You can see how your offenses in most weeks.
Speaker 4 (04:43):
Why do you think, Yeah, I mean it's just it
boils down to execution every week, right, either you do
execute and uh, you know, make the throws or you don't.
And you know, I didn't do that tonight, so hurt us,
and you know, weren't able to weren't able able to
overcome it.
Speaker 2 (05:02):
Think about this, but you still had a chance to win. Yeah,
I'm crazy to have a game.
Speaker 4 (05:10):
Yeah, I was back and forth. Obviously Verse made a
great play, you know, you know, and and blocking that
field and returning it. We got a couple of things
going on offense in the second half, but you know,
just turned it over too many times.
Speaker 2 (05:21):
Guys, we're rolling this year. You guys were always starting fast.
Speaker 4 (05:26):
Yeah yeah, like last week or yeah yeah, I'm with you, yep.
Speaker 2 (05:30):
Tonight, I couldn't help. But wonder four hours ago, you know,
for the first time you can't win at the division.
Can that have an emotional effect?
Speaker 4 (05:37):
No, I don't think so. You know, I don't think
that was the case, to be honest with you. You know,
we're and you know, we look at ourselves more than
we'd look at anybody else. And and you know, we
just didn't execute. Obviously had some chances, came up just
short on the first third down of the game, obviously
turned it over twice, uh, you know, on on some plays,
and they scored on one of them. So in the
(05:58):
first half, which just wasn't good enough, got more pressure
on I'll have to go look at it. Not not
something I felt really you know, uh, overwhelming or anything
like that.
Speaker 2 (06:12):
In game.
Speaker 4 (06:16):
Got going a little bit in the second half, but again,
you know, we had the you know, short under under
route to to ferg and you know, thirty one did
a great job of jumping it, played the sticks and
made a nice catch. So that one, uh, you know,
had we kept going there, you know, would have felt
like a nice little hythm in the second half, but
you know, really just poor decision.
Speaker 2 (06:38):
I guess there.
Speaker 4 (06:39):
You know, I'm gonna look at it. You know, felt
aggressively to trying to get the first down there, the
one down the sideline. You know, we got our one
of our fastest guys on an online backer try to
put it up and and just I think looks like
I've left it a little bit short maybe, you know.
And then the other one, uh, you know over the
middle that that Bates got, uh, just got a burn
(07:00):
the ball, you know, not not make a bad play worse.
Speaker 3 (07:07):
As you gone.
Speaker 4 (07:13):
You know, tough for me to think about it right now,
to be honest with you, I appreciate the question to
understand it, but a little bit more focused on, you know,
our team and and just letting those guys down tonight
last year. Yeah, I mean, every week is a is
a new challenge. You know, just because you play good
(07:34):
one week doesn't mean you're gonna play good the next
and and vice versa. You know, so just gotta go
out there and and continue to trust what we've done
all year, and then we got to just show up
and make the plays on game day, you know, I mean,
I thought we had a great week of practice, to
be honest with you, and sometimes you go out there
and it doesn't happen. Obviously, you know, if I cannot
hurt us and and the way I did tonight, it'll
(07:55):
help our team out a lot. So just try to
do that and and uh, you know, continue to uh
you know, build with a great team from quarterbacks FA
you feel like you're getting plays and yeah, we had
some you know, some unfortunate ones. Obviously we're able to
overcome the one. But yeah, I mean, it's just one
(08:15):
of those deals where you know, uh, you know, we
didn't convert on a fourth down early, didn't convert on
the first third down in the game by whatever. It
was a you know, a half yard, and it was
just didn't get into a rhythm, you know, obviously, and
turning the ball over myself didn't didn't help anybody.
Speaker 2 (08:32):
M hm.
