Speaker 1 (00:00):
Really proud of our group. It came out ready to
go today, total team effort. I thought the offense started fast,
uh Landman's you know, forced turnover to Alawis to go
up twenty one. There was a little bit of a
lull right there, and then you know, we bounced back.
I thought we were able to control really for the
most part, possession of the second half. Defense came up
with big stops. Proud of the field goal operation being
(00:20):
able to hit all those extra points. Looked like Ethan
had a couple of really good holds and Meavis did
a nice job of you know, with his timing and
his accuracy, and so you know, Matthew was outstanding. I thought, really,
I thought offensively and defensively, it was really a good
team win. That's a team that we've got a ton
of respect for. Come in here in a great atmosphere
and environment to be able to do that, and you know,
(00:40):
we'll enjoy this, and what a great challenge we have
against an excellent football team next week.
Speaker 2 (00:44):
But you know, you guys go ahead. I don't you know,
he got his oblique.
Speaker 1 (00:49):
I think he probably could have been able to come
back in if it was a little bit closer, kind
of similar to Pooka last week's here, so but he
was outstanding today. You know, he really felt his presence
early and often in the game comes away with another touchdown.
But I don't have an update as far as you
know anything specific players executing. You know, they've done a
(01:12):
great job at him.
Speaker 2 (01:13):
I think, you know, I think we've been able to
be efficient in both phases.
Speaker 1 (01:16):
I think guys are winning one on ones. Matthew's putting
the ball where he wants to. But you know, football
is the greatest team sport that there is, and I
think when you look at it, obviously a consistent theme
if you were to say, you know how big Davante's been,
but I think Matthew's been excellent. You know, it is
great to be able to get a couple of rushing
touchdowns today. I thought Kyron put his foot in the
ground and leveled some runs off and then was able
to run around the edge. But it is truly all
(01:38):
eleven and proud of this group. They're earning a lot
of the confidence with the way that they're working throughout
the course of the week, and this is what we
want to be able to do as the season goes
is just continue to build and you know, like I mentioned,
you know, you look up and you see you can't help.
Speaker 2 (01:51):
But notice, I'm a fan of this game.
Speaker 1 (01:53):
How big time Seattle's been and what a great challenge
it's going to be, and great atmosphere at home next
week against a great football team. I think it was big,
you know, and and credit to them, you know, they've
made enough plays to be able to kind of get
themselves back in it. Cut it to a one possession
game to make it twenty one fourteen, and then offensively
to be able to go right back down and you know,
(02:13):
get back up too possessions was big and so felt
like you know, just like you know this is it's
never easy, and this league is so difficult, so challenging,
and there's ebbs and flows and you just have to
stay steady, stay even keeled. I think our team has
a bunch of mental toughness, resilience and the ability to
be able to respond. They stay connected through the good
and through the challenging moments.
Speaker 2 (02:33):
And I love this group.
Speaker 1 (02:34):
I'm excited about being able to build with them as
we continue on the second half of the season. Yeah,
I got the this is a great football team, and
obviously there's a lot of history. It's always pretty cool
to peek up there and see, you know, John mcvay's
name in the corner and always think about him and
what he meant to me. And I wouldn't I wouldn't
(02:55):
be in the position if it wasn't for him. But
I have a lot of respect for this organization, Oh,
Kyle and this you know, this team and these coaches,
they're excellent, you know, So to be able to come
in here and get a win, it's always difficult. It's
always challenging, and we're very pleased with the way that
our team came out ready to go today. He's been
awesome Gary, you know, he's just been in total command.
You know, it's a continuation of a guy that really works,
(03:18):
you know, his tail off throughout the course of the week.
He uses the accumulation of knowledge and experience, and then
he's just playing really confident. It looks like the game
is really in slow motion to him right now. And
the best thing about him is he's so humble. But
we're really grateful to be able to have him leading
the way. He instills a belief every time that he's
at the switch for us, and guys play well around him.
Speaker 2 (03:39):
You want to do right by him.
Speaker 1 (03:40):
He makes me a better coach, and certainly don't take
for granted how lucky I am him to be able to
work with him, and I know our team feels the
same way.
Speaker 2 (03:53):
I think you really just kind of answered it with
the question.
Speaker 1 (03:55):
I liked how I like the way that we responded,
and you know, there was a bunch of big plays.
Speaker 2 (04:00):
I thought Puka was awesome on a couple of the screens.
Speaker 1 (04:01):
The fourth down and three was a big play to
allow us to then be able to hit Davonte on
the touchdown, and you know, just really overall, I just
really liked the result of this group. There's a resilience,
there's a mental toughness, there's an ability to be able
to respond. You know, we always talk about being able
to respond, not react. Thought we stayed steady, and then
I thought the defense did an excellent job as well,
(04:22):
making the stops when they had to.
Speaker 2 (04:25):
What a cool job.
Speaker 1 (04:25):
You know, Emmanuel Forbes gets another pick on a fourth down,
and you know, it's awesome just to be able to
see guys celebrate each other's successes. You know, one of
the things that I think good teams do. They celebrate
each other's successes. You know, there's an enjoyment for other successes.
There's an enjoyment for staying connected through the different ebbs
and flows that a game entails. And I love this
football team, love this group, and like I mentioned, excited
(04:47):
to be able to build with them.
Speaker 2 (04:50):
Go ahead, you know, I can't attest that.
Speaker 1 (05:00):
I can just tell you how grateful I am to
be working with him, and how smart, how special of
a human being he is, first and foremost. And then
he's obviously he's feeling good. You know, we've seen the
rapport between I and Matthew really start to come to life.
Speaker 2 (05:12):
Hopefully that oblique is just minimal.
Speaker 1 (05:14):
I think he's playing is really his best ball. He's
just getting better and better. It's like a fine wine
just getting better with age. But we love him. I
love being around him. I love everything that he's about.
And he is a big time guy for our football team.
Good Nate, Yeah, yeah, I mean we talk about it.
(05:38):
Your scars either strengthen you or they you know, they
make you weaker. And I think what we've seen and
again it's always about a continuation. But in the four
games that we've played since then, it's been a pretty
good movie. And I think we're getting better. I think
the way that the guys worked throughout the course of
the week, I think that we're understanding the intentionality about
how we practice, how we prepare, and how that practice,
preparation and performance can.
Speaker 2 (05:58):
Equal game reality.
Speaker 1 (06:00):
You know, if we trust ourselves and we trust the preparation,
and then they trust their teammates. And I'm seeing that
unfold on a weekly basis. But there's never a good
story without a little bit of adversity anyways, and I
think you only learn about people when you do go
through those challenging times. Certainly, that was a very humbling night,
a challenging night, but I've loved the responses from a
lot of guys, and most importantly our team collectively and
(06:21):
our coaching staff and onto the next one.
Speaker 2 (06:33):
Yeah, yeah, I think so.
Speaker 1 (06:35):
I think the important thing is and I give our
defense a ton of credit. They've inspired us in a
lot of ways, you know, where they're using everybody, different
personnel groupings. I think one of the most important things
I've heard my dad say it before. Everybody loves being
a part of something bigger than themselves as long as
they feel like their role contributes to where you're trying
to go. And how do we create value with the
you know, the fortunate luck that we do have. I
(06:55):
don't want to say luck, but how fortunate we are
with when our forty eight guys that are all up
in active, how do we take advantage of them, and
whether it's the different personnel groupings, whether it's getting guys involved.
I've said it to you guys before, the best offenses
I've been a part of, or best teams, they use everybody.
They have different ways they can make you pay. You're
still playing eleven on eleven. If you over commit to something,
then you got to be able to open up and
(07:16):
expose the other things, whether that's on the defense or
the offensive side of the football. But I just love
the fact that everybody is making, you know, an impact
on this thing. And I think that's part of our
job as coaches to be able to figure out, all right,
how do we accentuate their skill sets, how do we
get them going and something that we've got to be able.
Speaker 2 (07:32):
To continue to do.
Speaker 1 (07:39):
Say that again for me, Yeah, you just said it.
You know, we wanted to set the tone you know,
open up the run. You know, I think our guys
are able to execute, you know, in a lot of instances.
Sometimes you're really just being able to say, all right,
what are the ways? You know, there's been there was
some times you know, where we were inefficient on first down
(08:01):
and then we ended up having it throw it, and
I thought we did a great job, especially on the
first drive where we hit the Vonte on a curl,
ended up hitting Pooking a coop on an outcut where
we were kind of inefficient, So we tried to throw
it on an early down, ended up going to second
and ten, and so that kind of led to it
a little bit. Didn't want to be predictable where you
go first down and completion and then you're just gonna
kind of, you know, go ahead and run it. So
we came out we wanted to be aggressive. When you
(08:22):
got a quarterback that you can call the game through it.
It lends presence to be able to do that. But
ultimately we're just trying to be able to move the
ball and score points, and our guys did that in
a big way.
Speaker 3 (08:31):
A little bit of everything. You know, I feel like
obviously ran it in a couple of times and was
able to toss it in there a few times as
well today. So just executing guys being physical backs, finishing
in the red zone. It's awesome to see. And then
guys making you know, great plays on the on the perimeter.
You know, Tay made a great catch, you know, Da
and and all of our tight ends did a nice
(08:52):
job too as well. So it was a complete team effort,
as it always is when you win a football game
like that. Just proud to be a part of it.
Speaker 4 (09:00):
Touchdown you got the having so much fun?
Speaker 2 (09:10):
Is that what it is? Yeah?
Speaker 3 (09:11):
I mean I was having a good time. I got
hit on that one pretty good, so I had to
shake that one off a little bit. But uh no,
it was Uh I don't know, man, Like I said,
I just I have fun out there. I lose my
mind when we score touchdowns. I don't think about it.
A lot of these guys are in the locker room pregame,
prepping what kind of dance they're gonna do with they
score a touchdown. I just go out there and play
and whatever comes to me comes to me. But just again,
(09:31):
I'm just happy to be a part of this team.
It's it's a blessing. You know, such a great group
of guys. Obviously really talented football players and coaches, but
what a great group of guys that I get to
go to work with every single day. I don't take
that for granted, especially at this stage of my career. Yeah,
(09:53):
I mean I think, uh, you know, the more we
can do, the tougher we are to defend. Now, if
we were bad at doing all sorts of different stuff
would be no good. But uh, you know, when we
get into thirteen or twelve or whatever it is, Yeah,
we're getting bigger, we're getting tight ends on the field.
But they're talented football players too. These aren't just guys
that can go in there and do one thing. All
of them can block at the point of attack on
the backside, all of them can catch the football, run
(10:16):
after the catch. So they're really good football players on
our team, and we've done a great job of utilizing them.
I got to give Sean and Mike and everybody a great,
a great deal of credit for you know, being able
to do that quickly and and devise you know, plans
that you know, let those guys go out there and
be successful, Let our team be successful, you know, and
it's it's really worked worked well for us at this point. Yeah,
(10:52):
it's been good. You know, there's there's still plays I
want back, There's you know, things that we can get
better at, and you know, it's it's fun to win
football games and still feel that way and know that, Hey,
that wasn't you know, quite our best. And there's a
couple of throws or a couple of plays here there
that I wish I could have done a couple things different,
But that's that's football. That's NFL football. We're playing a
division team, gave us a bunch of They kind of
(11:14):
unloaded the clip on us today, tried to give us
everything that we could look at. But we did a
nice job and we're able to make plays. But just
trying to stay in it, stay focused, enjoy it, and
try to lead these guys and help us find ways
to win.
Speaker 4 (11:31):
Uh.
Speaker 3 (11:32):
Yeah, I mean that's a great way to say it.
You know, he's done an unbelievable job for us in
the red zone. He was great early in the game
for us as well. You know, second play of the game,
got on the rock later in that drive, got him
a dagger. You know, he was doing Davante's stuff. And
when he can do that and then cash in force
in the red zone, I mean, that's that's you know,
a huge plus for us. So we're happy to have him,
love going to work with him. What a great teammate
(11:54):
and obviously a fantastic football player as well. He didn't know, No,
I didn't know that either.
Speaker 2 (12:04):
That's the one. Huh uh yeah.
Speaker 3 (12:05):
I mean, unlike a lot of the other ones that
I throw, I feel like on the run and scrambling around,
usually in the pocket somewhere. But uh no, that's awesome.
It's super cool. I say it all the time. But
I'm just such a huge fan of the NFL. I
have so much respect for the guys that came before
me and played before me, and and you know what
this league means, and you know, to to be able
(12:26):
to reach milestones like that, it's a ton of people involved.
You know, it's not just myself throwing touchdowns. It's a
whole team and in a bunch of different places, obviously,
a couple of different cities, a couple of different franchises.
So it's uh means a lot to be a part of,
you know, the history of the NFL and be able
to play it for as long as I've been able to.
I don't take that for granted. Appreciate You've always been appreciate. Yeah,
(12:55):
I mean, I I love coming to work. Now you know,
you lose a ball game, I still love coming to work.
I love the challenge of the NFL week in and
week out. It's it's obviously, uh, most people are in
better moods when you come away with a win. But
at the same time, Uh, we have such a great group.
When we've you know, I had a couple of setbacks
this year and lost a couple of games. You know,
(13:16):
the resolve, the attitude of our team has never changed
and I love being a part of that. And you know,
when we've won games, we also haven't gotten too high.
You know, there's obviously things to clean up. We know
there's big challenges ahead, and we just got to continue
to play. But this team comes to work with the
right attitude. I love being a part of it, and
we'll just hope to continue to do that. I mean,
(13:41):
it's great. Uh, yeah, it's awesome. Obviously, very proud of
what the Dodgers were able to accomplish, you know, proud
of my friends and unbelievable career, you know, And I
know those guys are probably cheering somewhere for us. It's
it's a fun uh fraternity to be in, you know,
la sports. Everybody pulling for each other, hoping, hoping they
(14:03):
have success. And right now it's it's pretty fun, you know.
I mean, Luca's doing crazy stuff too, So talk about
a heater. He's on one.
Speaker 2 (14:11):
So you know, bened conversations.
Speaker 4 (14:21):
How does it feel?
Speaker 3 (14:26):
Yeah, it doesn't affect me obviously. Uh, you know, I
appreciate you know those words. Uh, I don't pay too
much attention to him. I'm trying to just continue to
find ways to be a good football player for this team,
lead this team, and try to get us in the
end zone as much as I can do my job
as best I can. You know. With that comes whatever,
and uh, I I don't know. I I think about
(14:47):
those awards. I see those people say stuff like that,
and all I can think about is like, I'm just
lucky to have unbelievable teammates. I really am to be
able to throw the ball to the guys that I
get to throw the ball to play behind this line
and hand it off to these guys. I mean, I
feel like there's a lot of people that could be
doing what I'm doing. So I'm obviously working hard at it,
trying to be as good as I possibly can. But
I'm really appreciative of the guys that are, you know,
(15:09):
they're in that locker room with me.
Speaker 4 (15:10):
Well, I just see I see a lot of ownership. Honestly,
I've seen the way we've just come out of, you know,
started some of these games in the past, earlier on
the season. I wouldn't say that we had maximization in
our in our you know, in the pudding. You know,
I think in our minds we had a certain idea
of what we wanted to do. But just now, I
think everything's starting to jail. Guys are starting to understand
(15:32):
their roles. You know, I'm not I'm not pressing out
there to make plays, and it's just just kind of,
you know, playing my game, and I think everybody's doing
the same, and it's just it's coming together. We got
a lot of weapons out there, and a lot of
guys that can make plays, and such a selfless team that,
you know, we truly enjoy each other's success more than
our own. And when you have that, you know, I
(15:54):
almost feel more excited for the play when I see
Pooka running up to me, or you know, or X
men coming off the sideline or whatever it is, you know,
making a play and just the almost it's more exciting
about being able to celebrate together versus you know, just
having the stats and stuff like that. So yeah, real
self esteem and guys just working real hard to make
(16:14):
sure we get on the same page so we can
go out there and put together a product that you know,
displays you know, one hundred plus points in in a
few games last year. I mean, it's just I think
at the at the beginning, just anytime you have a
(16:35):
roster like what we have, you can kind of come
out with certain expectations of how it's supposed to look.
And you know, similar to me and Matthew's connection, like
me playing, you know, being my twelve year in the
league his seventeenth, both having our own individual success and
pretty consistent over the you know the course of our careers,
you have an idea of how things are going to look,
and then you you know, you can kind of get
down or start to press like I said, and do
(16:58):
more and try to you know, make these herculean efforts
when you don't necessarily need that. So think, like I said,
guys are just understanding what their role is and in
and owning it. Is that what you do. It's it's
it's biting a little bit in the game, but it's
it's it's feeling better now and we'll we'll see how
(17:18):
it how it feels next week. It's like my side
oblique area or whatever. I didn't I'm not too good
at a uh anatomy and in biology and all that,
so I'm I don't wanna mislabel it, but whatever's on
this side below my ribs, muscular situation something like that. Joy,
(17:52):
I don't think we're unselfless. I think we're just selfless.
But uh, it's I mean, it's definitely rare, especially when
you have the type of people. It's not like it's
just a pee wee team in here where it's just
happy to be here. Like guys, you know, it means
a lot to be able to you know, be statistically
you know, at the top or you know, especially for
some of the guys, you know, Pooka obviously still still
doing this thing, but you know, there's a lot of
(18:13):
us that have had success where it's it's not easy
to come off that mountain top, you know, and and
be able to lead the league and receive it or
you know, light it up every every week. It's more about,
I think, truly, the collective mindset is just more about
what it looks like as a team out there. So
it's really rare, but it's it's, uh, I'm glad I
found a team that has that.
Speaker 5 (18:35):
Guys like that.
Speaker 2 (18:40):
Out there.
Speaker 4 (18:42):
Yeah, I mean, it's it keeps some honest I mean,
we got some players where I'll go out there and
we'll you know, we'll pound the ball. Mump will go
in there and stick his head in there, and then
we'll we'll throw on the t ferg and you know,
run a screen. It's just it keeps them minus man.
It just shows the ability that Sean has to you know,
manipulate defenses and you know, give it the presentation of
one thing and then come back with another play kind
(19:02):
of a playoff of that. So when I'm watching it, honestly,
it's fun to watch even when I'm not in just
cause you you never know, and if I don't get
the call, if I don't hear it right away, you know,
you might see a run presentation and then we'll go
play action and hit someone on the sale and it'll
go for thirty forty yards. You know, I know that
has to be demoralizing to a defense cause you you know,
you put your base personnel out there and thinking, Okay,
I gotta make sure I'm covering the run cause there
(19:23):
is only one receiver out there, and you know, if
it's not me, oftentimes they probably think it's gonna be
a run play. And then just shows you the the
you know, the dynamic ability of this offense and and
it's see you a couple with an.
Speaker 1 (19:35):
MVP quarterback, how would you describe?
Speaker 4 (19:42):
Well, I mean it's looked like MVP played to me
all year, to be honest, I mean even even certain games.
I mean like I said that the pick he threw
against Tennessee and the way he bounced back after that, Like,
that's how an MVP plays to me. So you know,
the just to to rally a team and continue to
lead at a high level after not when things don't
go your way. I think that's what really shows what
an MVP is is about.
Speaker 2 (20:04):
Uh.
Speaker 5 (20:04):
You know, my old coach used to tell me they
come in bunches, so you might well catching when they
come your way. But uh, it's it's feeling feeling feeling
good honestly, and just I'm glad we're playing good, good football.
Speaker 4 (20:13):
Now break up.
Speaker 3 (20:17):
Play very aggressively.
Speaker 2 (20:19):
How would you describe.
Speaker 3 (20:22):
Wrong?
Speaker 5 (20:24):
Uh, My confidence just come from my film study, honestly,
in the in the preparation I put in during the
week at practice, and it just shows on game. They
Uh just go out there and let loose and play
ball and trust what your I see honestly. So Yeahurst,
oh you know, we're just trying to get off the
field honestly, and that's what we was preaching before we
went out on the field. Let's go through and out.
(20:44):
And the ball came away and I made a play.
So it set the tone honestly, and just help us
go up more punts points honestly. Muse Uh, he just
playing very playing. He trusting in his guys to make
the play when the ball come to them, and he's
playing like a MVP.
Speaker 4 (21:04):
Honestly.
Speaker 3 (21:06):
That's a freshooting most just the way you guys growing
as a team.
Speaker 5 (21:13):
You know, I would say, just since that lasts we've
been playing compliment and football honestly, just offense playing good,
defense playing good and even if not one of us
not playing good on that day, we just compliment each
other and just get the win, honestly,
