Speaker 1 (00:00):
Really pleased with our group tonight. I thought they did
a great job. They came out ready to go. You know,
I thought offensively, I thought we established really good rhythm
from the start. You know, the run game was outstanding,
being able to average you know, almost seven over seven
yards a clip. You know, Blake was great. I thought
Kiren was great. Ronnie came in at the end of
the game and did a great job. Thought Matthew had
great command. And I thought our defense once we settled
(00:21):
in a little bit, you know, they did a great
job as well. Thought we were able to affect and
influence the you know, Briset with the rush and then
lam Man's interception was big. But you know, good complete game,
and you know, just proud of this group and excited
to be able to move forward.
Speaker 2 (00:35):
I'm feeling better, Yeah, I was. I was. It was
one of those deals that you know, it hit me
Friday night. It was kind of going around.
Speaker 1 (00:41):
I think our little boy gave it to gave it
to my wife first and then and then got me
pretty good.
Speaker 2 (00:46):
And you know, I feel good though.
Speaker 1 (00:48):
It was you know, just wanted to be able to
be smart, not give give ourselves a chance of giving
it to anybody else because of how contagious this can be.
Speaker 2 (00:55):
And hopefully I didn't.
Speaker 1 (00:57):
But you know, in passing out game balls, trying to
do the the fist pump as much as you.
Speaker 2 (01:01):
Can, you realize how out of norm it is for me.
Speaker 1 (01:04):
I'm a big hugger, and so hopefully it feel better
and and uh, you know, can get back to being
the normal with these guys, because you know, I, uh,
I don't like this.
Speaker 2 (01:15):
Yeah I felt okay, Yeah that felt good.
Speaker 1 (01:17):
I mean, if I I don't want to get too
descriptive with you, but we fought through it, and uh,
you know, ultimately the guys did a great job. Really
proud of them, and you know, I think this is
a cool reflection of the coaching staff in general too,
and it was a good step in the right direction.
Speaker 2 (01:30):
And you know, now we got to get continue to
build on this.
Speaker 3 (01:33):
You guys. But just like just the past two weeks,
what's taking this roop to the globooks out right now?
Speaker 1 (01:41):
As far as you're talking about just the run game, Yeah,
I just think guys are executing. You know, I think
the runners are really running hard. I think they're pressing it.
They're understanding exactly what the intent is. You know, I
think Kyraen and Blake do a great job. Got to
give a lot of credit.
Speaker 2 (01:53):
To Ron Gould.
Speaker 1 (01:54):
And then also I think, you know, the offensive line
obviously has been key and critical. And it's the offensive line,
it's the tight ends, it's the receipt. The run game
takes all eleven, you know, Matthew getting us in and
out of the right looks, and so I.
Speaker 2 (02:04):
Think we're getting connected.
Speaker 1 (02:05):
I think we're able to have a little bit of
diversity in terms of some of the different things, whether
it be personnel or run schemes, you know, where you
can go direct downhill, or you can be able to
stretch people a little bit horizontally while still getting vertical displacement.
And so they came out in a lighter grouping on
us today when we were in our thirteen personnel, and
I thought it was really good that we were able
to establish the run the way we were and you
(02:27):
have to be able to do those types of things.
But I've been really pleased with it, Nate. We got
to continue to build on it. But you know, like
I mentioned about Ron, you know, I think Ryan Whindell
deserves a ton of credit. Obviously, the players are bringing
it to life. And then Scooter Huff with the tight
ends and you know, Yards always gets those guys playing
their ass off at receiver as well. No, they were
(02:47):
for artists. I thought he played excellent. I thought he
did a great job of, you know, distributing the ball.
I thought he made some big time throws, and I
thought he did a great job of when there was
some you know, pressure, being able to keep the ball
in play.
Speaker 2 (03:01):
Not take negatives.
Speaker 1 (03:02):
I think you want to stay ahead of the sticks
against a group like this, they do a good job
when they get into some of their sub rushes. And
I thought Matthew was outstanding, you know, and I don't
necessarily think the numbers always can reflect that. You know,
it was cool to see him get another three touchdowns,
but he was great. I thought he saw the field
really well. I thought he threw the ball with accuracy
and anticipation. And then, you know, to Nate's question, a
(03:24):
lot of the stuff in the run game was a
real credit to Matthew getting us in and out as
some of the right looks.
Speaker 2 (03:28):
And he's been outstanding. He's he's doing a hell of
a job. I'm happy for him.
Speaker 1 (03:34):
Well, it shows how important it is about the early
down efficiency, you know. I mean last week was was
really rare. Obviously we had some of the turnovers. It
was good to ev a clean slate in that regard
this week. But you know, when you can be efficient
on those early downs, you eliminate a lot of those
past situations where the defense feels like they can almost
get the pen in their hand. And so for us
(03:55):
to be able to be the offense that we want
to be, we got to continue to take steps in
that direction and to be able to have the balance
running pass like we've had in the early down efficiency
that's always key and critical.
Speaker 4 (04:07):
Really came back.
Speaker 5 (04:09):
Yeah, is that something you said today?
Speaker 1 (04:12):
It is, it's something I sensed, you know. I thought
the guys did a great job. This is this is
a mentally tough group. This is a resilient group. You know,
you got to earn it, and and I thought they
had a great week of preparation. I thought even just
the maturity of even some of the stuff where I
wasn't around a little bit just because of what I
was dealing with, just the way they handle it. These
are grown men, you know, and they do such a
(04:32):
great job of this is a player led team, and
and really I can't say enough about what are a
great job our coaches do. I don't mean that to
be minimizing them at all, but we got a lot
of really great leaders in that locker room, and I
think they take the ownership the initiative of what we
want to be about and how you ultimately want to
be able to respond not react when we do have
some of those setbacks. And this is exactly in alignment
(04:54):
with what we wanted and now we got to continue
to build on it.
Speaker 4 (04:58):
It is all eleven.
Speaker 5 (05:00):
How do you see, Lady Tyrone?
Speaker 1 (05:04):
Oh, I think it's that. I think they are complimenting
each other. I think they're doing a great job. You know,
they're obviously they're similar, but they have some different skill sets.
They're both excellent backs that have great ownership and understanding
of what we're trying to get done. I think them
being able to play off with one another allows them
to just be fresher as the season and as games
go on, and you could see, I mean, you know,
Blake pops the forty eight yard is a great job
(05:24):
for us, being able to get the removal and it
opens up a backside cut and then he's got the
juice to be able to finish it.
Speaker 2 (05:29):
But I think.
Speaker 1 (05:30):
Kiren's been excellent. I just think they do a great
job of supporting one another. And I think the fact
that when you have two guys that you can trust
as much as them, they're going to be stronger, They're
going to be fresher because.
Speaker 2 (05:40):
This is a long season that we go through. He's outstanding,
you know, he was. He was great.
Speaker 1 (05:47):
I thought the two big in cuts that he caught
early on in the game, on back to back plays
were big. You know, they really got us going. And
and he's you know, to be able to win on
the double move. Some of the catches that he's making
where you know he's it's a contested catch, but then
he's pulling guys in to be able to score. He's
a freaking stud. Love Pookah.
Speaker 4 (06:10):
It's fun. I had great teammates.
Speaker 6 (06:14):
The only reason anybody's saying something like that about me
is because all those guys in there.
Speaker 4 (06:17):
So I'm appreciative.
Speaker 6 (06:18):
I love going to work with those guys and it's fun.
I don't play the game for that, you know, play
the game for those guys in there, and the respect
of those guys and the.
Speaker 4 (06:26):
Guys that we compete against.
Speaker 6 (06:27):
But it's cool your first four touchdowns, four different guys.
Speaker 7 (06:33):
You speak to the balance and how that helps.
Speaker 4 (06:37):
Yeah, we should have a fifth.
Speaker 6 (06:38):
I should hit Tay on that fade too, So I
want that one back bad.
Speaker 4 (06:42):
He crushed him. But uh no, it was good.
Speaker 6 (06:45):
I mean I think, uh, when we're at our best,
we're kind of dictating the terms and and spreading the
ball around. I thought we had a great plane coming
into the day. Obviously executed it really well in and
out of the huddle, great communication. And then our guys
up front, I mean they on the line scrimmage and
when you do that, we got skill guys that are gonna,
you know, make people pay. And I'm just proud and
(07:06):
happy for those guys up front for the way they played.
Speaker 5 (07:08):
How do you see it helping to have the ones
running back?
Speaker 6 (07:12):
Well, I think both those guys can do everything we ask,
you know. And that's the coolest part is you know
whoever's in the game, and Ronnie really ran it great
at the end of the game too. You know, I
got total trust and confidence and all those three guys
to run any play we have in our offense, there's
no Hey, this guy's in, we gotta do this. That
guy's in, we gotta do that. Now we just call
our offense. And then both those guys, you know, feed
(07:32):
off of each other. I mean, they have their unique
styles of how they run, but both of them are
you know, playing at a great clip and obviously have
big days.
Speaker 3 (07:38):
Today you're aware of Sean was not feeling.
Speaker 1 (07:42):
Well and oh yeah, how did that impact his ability
at all?
Speaker 4 (07:47):
Communicators?
Speaker 6 (07:48):
No, it was, you know, I think it was a
great collaboration on the offensive side of the ball. He
wasn't feeling well the last couple of days, and are
just proud of the way we all kind of came
together and attacked this week. I thought Mike did a
hell of a job. Really, everybody that was involved at
a hell of a job. You score as many points
and play like we did on offense today, that takes everybody,
And you know, it was it was cool with you know,
(08:09):
our head guy down just a little bit, watching everybody
kind of rally and and you know, do their part
and do it a little bit better, and and uh,
you know the results were good.
Speaker 4 (08:18):
Today.
Speaker 5 (08:19):
You know what kind of led to that connection as well?
Speaker 8 (08:22):
As it did.
Speaker 4 (08:24):
You know, I think just opportunities.
Speaker 6 (08:25):
He had opportunities and I I tried to put them
in a good place and he made some great plays
like he always does. So I got total trust in everybody.
I mean, Poka did that today, it could be anybody
the next day.
Speaker 4 (08:36):
And and that's the fun part about playing in this offense.
Speaker 6 (08:38):
Is, uh, you know, wherever the coverage tells me to
go with the football, you know, I'm gona try and
go there with it. And just missed on a couple
with day today. You know, had some big ones to
the tight ends. They're great in the keeper game too, So.
Speaker 4 (08:51):
I don't know.
Speaker 6 (08:51):
Puka's you know, a hell of a football player, a
great player for our team. We're happy that, uh you
know he's he's with us, and uh, you know, he
showed it again today.
Speaker 3 (09:00):
Catches or acrobatic or one hand is at this point,
does anything.
Speaker 9 (09:04):
You do surprise you?
Speaker 4 (09:07):
No.
Speaker 6 (09:07):
I appreciate the hell out of all of them, you know,
I mean it's uh, it's cool to watch him do
his thing.
Speaker 4 (09:11):
He's a physical player.
Speaker 6 (09:13):
To try to put in some good spots for him
and he does unbelievable stuff, you know, coming down with
the football contested catches, you know, so I I don't
say that, I wouldn't say I'm surprised, but I do
appreciate all of them. I don't sit there and take
them for granted, that's for sure.
Speaker 2 (09:26):
Next up is Lions, which is.
Speaker 3 (09:31):
How does it feel to be playing so.
Speaker 6 (09:33):
Well going into I mean, uh, you hate to you know,
hate to hear it, but we got to earn it
every single week, you know. And and because I played
well this week doesn't mean, you know, guarantee to play
well the next week.
Speaker 4 (09:45):
We gotta go earn that. We do it every single week.
Speaker 6 (09:47):
I got a ton of respect for that team, head, coach, everybody.
They they do a hell of a job and done
a great job the last couple of years. So it'll
be a big challenge every time we play these guys.
Seems like a good match, so, you know, looking forward
to the opportunity of playing on a you know, on
on big stage against a really good team already.
Speaker 3 (10:03):
But the run game is this lethal, I guess, can
you explain kind of just the effect that that has
when you guys do then call a pass play?
Speaker 6 (10:10):
Yeah, you know, I thought I thought were really discipline,
you know, how we approach the game. They wanted to
run small people out there, and we were in thirteen,
and you know, it was just, hey, let's keep running
the rock and and you know, we can call all
those runs, but if we don't make them work, you know,
then then you know, they have.
Speaker 4 (10:27):
The upper hands.
Speaker 6 (10:28):
So a ton of credit to our guys up front,
our tight ends, our backs, receivers blocking. You know, they
were in small people and we were in thirteen, and
and uh, first couple of drives we just ran it great,
so and continue to run it good the rest of
the day.
Speaker 4 (10:40):
So it goes back to a little bit of.
Speaker 6 (10:42):
You know, kind of dictating the terms and and then uh,
you know even in base defense, I thought we ran
it well too.
Speaker 4 (10:47):
So that's proud of those guys.
Speaker 3 (10:49):
It's your first game in the NFL with one hundred yards.
Speaker 9 (10:51):
I just what would it like.
Speaker 3 (10:52):
To be out there and be a part of you know,
everything that came together on offense today.
Speaker 8 (10:56):
Oh man, it was a you know, blessing come true.
But that's what we worked on all week, you know,
fixing what we need to fix from you know, our loss,
and we did that, you know, starting with offensive line.
I mean they did a phenomenal job. And then when
you know, when we're thirteen, personnel are tight ends, they're
blocking their tails off, and receivers are blocking and it
just makes you know, my job, Kyen job, you know
a lot easier. And so man, it's a credit to everyone,
(11:20):
you know, the coaches, coach, ron g you know, it's amazing.
Speaker 7 (11:23):
Man, I love I love playing in the backfield.
Speaker 2 (11:26):
About how do you.
Speaker 8 (11:33):
How do you we love competing and so when you
when you love competing and you have a partner like
I do with Kyraen and Kyen has with me, and
really just the running back room in general. You know,
we're all super close and we all want to see
each other succeed, you know, big time. And so you
know when I'm when I'm on the sideline, I see
Kyraen breakoff and run, I get hyped and that makes
(11:54):
me when I go in, I want to break off
a long one just so we can keep feeding off
each other. But you know, it is all eleven like
you said, I mean, Kyra and I wouldn't be doing
any of that if it wasn't for everyone else, you
know what I'm saying. And so you know that's what
you love about the game of football.
Speaker 7 (12:06):
It is truly a team sport, and you know that's why.
Speaker 8 (12:09):
You know, we started playing at six and you know
it's by the grace and god, we're still playing.
Speaker 3 (12:17):
One step one, you know, move away from breaking a
really long one for a touchdown.
Speaker 5 (12:23):
What was that like today to get.
Speaker 9 (12:28):
Yeah?
Speaker 8 (12:28):
Man, it uh, it definitely was a lot of fun.
You know, definitely something I've been wanting to do and
feel like I've been super close. You know, the block
the line has blocked it really well a couple of times,
and it was just up to me to you know,
finish the playoff. But you know, you just go back
to work. You know, Coach always talks about how the
work works, and you know, I go back to work
with the guys. I go back to work with you know,
(12:49):
Coach g and my team, and you know, it paid
off the day. But uh, you know the day is
over now, you know, now it's on to the next
you know what I'm saying, we still have a lot
of football ahead of us, and you know, I'm excited
to see how much better that we can actually get,
because we can get a lot better.
Speaker 1 (13:07):
What did you see yesterday?
Speaker 4 (13:12):
Leaders?
Speaker 8 (13:12):
You know, leaders and that's what that's what I love,
you know about this organization.
Speaker 7 (13:16):
Right, we have such a great leader.
Speaker 8 (13:18):
In Coach McVeigh, but you know, right right underneath of him,
you know, Coach Lafleur, Coach shield House, you know Coach Yarbs,
Coach ron g.
Speaker 7 (13:25):
You know, everyone's a.
Speaker 8 (13:26):
Leader in their own way and they know how to
you know, handle things when you know coach wasn't able
to be there. Right, the culture remains the same, the
team remains the same, and you know we don't you know,
we don't budge, you know, we just work around it.
And man, they did a phenomenal job at making sure
you know, myself and the guys were ready to go.
Speaker 7 (13:44):
Out there and compete the day.
Speaker 8 (13:45):
And you know, Coach Seawana as as I know he
would it would, you know, show up even if he
wasn't feeling well.
Speaker 6 (13:53):
A lot of.
Speaker 4 (13:55):
Play with throughout his long career.
Speaker 3 (13:57):
So just how does it feel to be a part
of giving you see him?
Speaker 7 (14:04):
I mean, he's he's amazing, you know what I mean.
You heard the crowd, you know, m v P, m
v P.
Speaker 8 (14:10):
You know that's something I believe and you know he
might not say it, but I mean he's he's a
phenomenal quarterback man. He's done a phenomenal job this year
and just you know, leading the team, being that general
field general. You know, I really enjoyed playing in the
backfield with him, and you know, just being able to
get the run game going opens opens up everything, you know,
just like you know when you're passing.
Speaker 7 (14:29):
The ball deep, then it opens up the run.
Speaker 8 (14:30):
You know, they just go back and forth, and you know,
when you can play that type of ball like we
were able to go out there and play today, you know,
it's hard to stop. We had we had the idea,
you know, the offensive line, you know, Matthew Kyron myself,
we talked about, you know, this play, you know, throughout
(14:52):
the week and where it possibly might hit.
Speaker 7 (14:54):
And you know, a couple of.
Speaker 8 (14:55):
Runs a day hit this way that way. You know,
they were going a little bit everywhere. But uh, you know,
when I got the handoff and I felt the defense
flow and you know, the line was connected, kind of
pushed them and I was able to you know, put
my foot in the ground and hit it.
Speaker 7 (15:08):
You know, I didn't, I didn't. I knew, I knew
I needed to break along with sooner than later.
Speaker 8 (15:11):
And you know, it just happened to be that moment
where the safety you know, kind of slipped a little
bit and I was able to just you know, turn
on the jets a little bit. But uh man, it
was uh it was great man, you know, all.
Speaker 7 (15:23):
Glory to God.
Speaker 4 (15:27):
Yeah.
Speaker 9 (15:27):
I think there's an uptick in our urgency. We always
bring the energy, Uh, we always have the focus, but
I think we were a little bit more urgent this
week and that's something that we're gonna look to continue
to carry throughout the rest of the season.
Speaker 3 (15:40):
You guys, early on, you know, they were able to
get you some passing plays before you. So what do
you feel like like it's changed for you, guys, or.
Speaker 4 (15:47):
What you kind of adjust within the game.
Speaker 9 (15:50):
Yeah, I think we were able to settle in. I
think we did a good job all day today being
able to knock out the run. And then we saw,
I mean we knew they were gonna try to get
eighty five of the ball. They have a couple of
receivers out and eighty five was already their number one target.
So a couple of those screens, they did a lot
of those screens, and then they're able to make some
big plays it's the NFL. Everyone's gonna be able to
make some plays, but it's about how you respond. It's
(16:10):
about how you play that next snap. And obviously, you know,
a lot of the first quarter didn't really look like
us or didn't really feel like us defensively. Uh, but
we were able to turn that around and ultimately, you know,
come out and play the ball like we're like we're
used to play.
Speaker 7 (16:25):
This year.
Speaker 5 (16:28):
In the next week after losses, you guys played really strong.
Speaker 4 (16:34):
Did you know that today?
Speaker 2 (16:35):
Did you know that this week?
Speaker 9 (16:37):
I mean the amount of confidence that I have in
all of these guys and the way that you can
We came in on Monday. We had a longer Monday
last week, and you could just see it in the
eyes of all of the guys. You could see it
in the way that each person was, you know, maybe
spending a little bit extra time in the hot tubs,
cool tubs, getting their body right, a little bit extra
time in their film. Uh, really making sure that we
(16:58):
were locked in on our keys. And so we got
to do a better job of not putting ourselves in
that position and carrying that over each week. But I
think we have done a really great job of that
I think the urgency just ticked up just a little
bit more. And that's where again, we're gonna look to
continue that for the rest of the season. And we
know what the standard is. The standard is a standard,
and we got to hold that, you know, hold that
standard throughout the week.
Speaker 5 (17:22):
Also being able to.
Speaker 4 (17:25):
Yeah, no, that was exciting.
Speaker 9 (17:27):
You know, you're used to seeing him force the turnovers
in the form of punching, but you know, we had
a game going and I turned around and Nate was
dancing with the bar, like running around with the ball,
and you could just see the amount of energy that
all of those guys, obviously all of us guys, we
love Nate. He's a great leader, he's a great player,
and he just brings so much positive energy to this
(17:47):
team and you know, couldn't be proud to have him
as one of our captains. And yeah, being able to
spike it, I didn't know I was gonna be called.
Speaker 4 (17:54):
To do that.
Speaker 9 (17:54):
He was just like, spike that, and I was like,
I guess so, and I jumped up. I don't know
how the form was. And then I lost the ball
and I was trying to get the ball back to him.
I was like, he needs the ball? Where did the
ball go? But yeah, I could not be proud of him.
He's playing some really good ball for us, and he's
leading this team the right way. Very definitely giving up
that touchdown on the first ride, What what changed because
(18:15):
we're wetely different games.
Speaker 10 (18:17):
From that way. Yeah, I think it kind of motivated us. Uh,
we know that's that was unacceptable. You know, we just
started playing our keys better. You know, we just locked in.
But yeah, give him the first uh touchdown like that
on the first drive. You know, we never do stuff
like that, So we just just woke us up, so
something that we needed.
Speaker 5 (18:31):
I feel like on those lines.
Speaker 3 (18:34):
Why should be talked about the need for a way
to call after Carolina? Just how do you feel like
guys bought into that.
Speaker 5 (18:40):
And responded throughout the week to do that well? I
definitely think we responded well.
Speaker 10 (18:43):
Preparation and everything, attention to our practice and just reading
our keys the right way.
Speaker 5 (18:47):
But I like to approach that we took and got
a job done.
Speaker 8 (18:50):
So when you over that feeling well and didn't cower.
Speaker 10 (18:54):
