Speaker 1 (00:00):
We got to get our next guy in here. Man,
what what a what a guy?

Speaker 2 (00:04):
What a guy? Zat?

Speaker 1 (00:04):
Gelby is Infinity Sports Radio, so he's at the Canelo Alvarez.

Speaker 3 (00:11):
I can't forgetting this. Arens Crawford, Arrens Crawford, fin he
just went through this. I know the fight now is
a few in your memory? Can you tell him not
locked in? All right? I need to know the side
of this one.

Speaker 1 (00:22):
Glby is uh in Vegas for this fight and it
is crazy early, I mean, Dan dang near six thirty
in the morning, and the man has shown up Bone
like the champ he is for his Friday spot on
the Mac and Bone Show to talk about a team
that was hideous last week.

Speaker 3 (00:42):
Gelby, what's going on? Man? How are things in Vegas?

Speaker 2 (00:45):
I show up, the Carolina Panthers do not show up.
You know that's the bottom line. And also, guys, maybe
that kid's father is not letting him go to school
until the Panthers get a victory.

Speaker 1 (01:00):
If that starts happening around here, I am so worried
about the education, still trying.

Speaker 3 (01:06):
What a difference a week makes, Goby. Last week you
were on and you were on your normal time zone.
And we had Panther hope and hype, and now you're
in a different time zone and the Panthers are going
full Panthers already.

Speaker 2 (01:17):
Huh yeah. I remember I said to you guys this year,
you look at the first six seven weeks of the season,
and there's not a game that you say, oh, that
the Panthers are definitely gonna lose. But there's also not
a game that you're gonna say they're definitely gonna win.

Speaker 3 (01:28):
Oh yeah.

Speaker 2 (01:29):
But what happened in week one was just discouraging times
one hundred. The second interception wasn't Bryce Young's fault, the
first one. He can't make that throw. The receivers dropping
balls left and right, they're clearly missing. How them feel
into It would have been nice that they would have
kept him instead of just gave them away to the
Minnesota Vikings. But you kind of feel good for Adam,

(01:49):
feeling just all around like this team four wins, five wins,
they get to to that, You know, that's probably what
you're looking at with what I saw in week one.
I don't think that's an overreaction at all.

Speaker 1 (02:04):
But you don't think that, like based on the way
they played last year, the way they the Winnsday got.
They beat this Arizona team, They beat the Falcons down
to stretch. They competed against the Chiefs, the Eagles, and
the Bucks down to the wire. Like clearly they were
playing better than what we saw this past week. You
don't think that they could end up looking starting this

(02:24):
week more like the team from down the stretch last year.

Speaker 2 (02:28):
I do think the game's going to be close this week.
It doesn't it feel as if it's twenty to thirteen.
And I really don't trust either of these teams that
areud be playing coming up on Sunday. I do think
Marvin Harrison Junior is going to bounce back and have
a good season. But you know, the bottom line is, guys,
the bar was so low last year. Like you go
into last season, everyone was dejected. Then they benched Bryce Young.

(02:50):
Everyone's out on him. I thought his Panther's tenure was over.
And then he came back and he started to give
you something positive. And I remember saying at the end
of the season, I walk away and by the Panthers.
But I don't sit there and tell you that they're
definitely going to be good next year. And Bryce Young
is definitely going to be great. But he stunk in
year one, got better and saved the sinking ship in

(03:11):
year two. It doesn't mean, though, that sinking ship, even
though it's starting to sail for a little bit, is
going to be able to sail at high speed the
rest of the way. And that's what you have here
right now with the Panthers. And this is a make
or break year for Canals, even in your number two
and for Bryce Young now who's in year number three.
And I thought the bar was so low that it
just that it looked okay last year, and there were

(03:33):
some wins that people started to think, Okay, maybe they're
heading in the right direction. But it still was something
when you look back at and you go, I didn't
walk into this year saying, oh yeah, Bryce Young's it'd
be great. It was he got to show me something,
and in week one it's it's not just Bryce. So
this entire team was a disaster. So it's tough for
me to sit here and tell you, yeah, I think
they're going to find the way to go seven to
ten or eight to nine this year.

Speaker 3 (03:55):
How much blame do you put on Bryce from the
other day and how much concern do you have about
him possibly regressing from that end of the season.

Speaker 2 (04:04):
Yeah, I think it's you're going to see outside of
what top fifteen, top twenty quarterback play for him for
probably most of the year, there will be some signs
where you look at him and see what he did
at Alabama. There was too many drops on Sunday and
the second interception was definitely not his fault. The first
one was a bad one and if you want to

(04:25):
look back at it, after the first interception, it did
really change the entire game, and once he got to
seventeen to three, it was it was out of the race.
Like where the pants are gonna win games this year?
If they're gonna have to keep it tight and Tuba
Hubbard's gonna have to be the main focal point of
the offense. And you know, I know, Cuba, you know,
got some catches out of the backfield, But I'm talking

(04:46):
about running the football more. But when you're down by
that many points, stuff to run football.

Speaker 1 (04:50):
Yeah, but you should have stayed sleeping. Seriously, it's a buzzkill, man,
It's a damn buzz kill.

Speaker 2 (04:56):
Well, let me tell you something that if you hang
up on me getting up at six twenty in the
morning to do disappearance talk about this topic football team.
I'll fly to Charlotte and kick your ask them all.

Speaker 1 (05:08):
That would be That would be grounds for an ass kicking.
That would be extremely to the way.

Speaker 3 (05:12):
You know, it's got to be a buzzkill being in
Vegas and talking to us at six in the morning
about this team. You're talking about killing your buzz No.

Speaker 1 (05:18):
I have a feeling if the hang up is made,
Gelby's could be youth finally thinking better of this.

Speaker 2 (05:24):
You know what, guys actually like you, I didn't wake
up five minutes ago, actually just started walking into my
hotel room.

Speaker 1 (05:28):
All right. I was gonna ask you if there was
some fun Delby last night. Man, he's he's got a
trimp cocktail still had in his hand. What were the
happenings last night?

Speaker 3 (05:40):
Gelby?

Speaker 1 (05:40):
Was it a hangover movie type rat pack situation for you? Yeah?

Speaker 2 (05:47):
So that they have a stayed in the Fountain Blue.
So it's a little bit further away from the heart
of the strip, but there's so let's just say, there's
a lot of things to do in the Fountain Blue, Okay, but.

Speaker 1 (05:58):
What happens there stays there, but it doesn't make its
way to Charlotte Radio Jolby.

Speaker 3 (06:02):
I've never been to Vegas? Is it all it's cracked up?

Speaker 2 (06:04):
To me?

Speaker 3 (06:04):
Do you still like it despite being there before? Is it?
Is it worth it?

Speaker 1 (06:08):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (06:09):
It's food, drinking, and gambling. What's not to like? And
you know what, on Sunday, I'm gonna go sit in
a pool and I'm gonna watch football. So you know,
if you're gonna have to watch the Panthers because I'm
gonna be locked in for this show. I'd rather be
in a pool than just be in a New York
City apartment.

Speaker 3 (06:27):
Hey, he's gonna try to go under watery curb the laughter,
Curn the curb the laughter. I didn't like that laughter
there though. Okay, he said Panthers and your cackling.

Speaker 2 (06:37):
You know what, Bone Bone made the joke of drowning
myself watching the Panthers. I thought of it, but I
was like, my brain's not really working yet. I don't
know if that's going to be appropriate. So I appreciate
that Bone buy it the same way.

Speaker 3 (06:50):
Yeah, I said it.

Speaker 1 (06:53):
Because Bones picked against the Panthers. He's not a fan,
That's why he can Speaking of gambling. Who do you
who do you like in this uh fight this weekend
on Netflix.

Speaker 2 (07:03):
I've actually never been to a fight. Wow, I've been
to you, I've been to the UFC. I've never been
to boxing, So I'm not an expert on this. I'm
gonna lean Canelo. I will lean Canelo just from the
people that I talked to yesterday. And it's like a
who's who's of people down here because Dana White is
now basically running this. So we got a chance to

(07:25):
talk to Danah Raymusterio since their ties to the w
W is going to join us later today, I think
we're gonna talk to the undertaker in Triple H and
then John Annick from the UFC. So you know, those
guys didn't like necessarily do a full breakdown on the fight,
but just some people in the room that are a
lot more intelligent than than I am when it comes
to boxing. It kind of you get the sense it's

(07:47):
gonna be a really good fight that that Canelo will win.
But Jim Gray, who who's gonna be on the coverage too?
He said this to me because I told him, you know,
boxing really has never read with my generation outside of
what Tyson Fury and and Deontay Wiler and some of
these gimmick fights. So he actually thinks that this fight

(08:08):
will be so good between Terrence Crawford and Canel Avarez
that it will actually save the sport and that it's
going to start to generate. With someone like me who's
thirty one, Now, I'll believe that when I see it,
I just may be a one off. But you know,
that was just what Jim Gray's perspective was.

Speaker 1 (08:24):
Gelby, A couple of Texters have a theory that you
still might be buzzed from the festivities.

Speaker 3 (08:30):
Is that possible?

Speaker 2 (08:32):
No? Oh, definitely not.

Speaker 1 (08:34):
Okay, all right, I was kind of hoping the answer
was yes. I'm not gonna lie. I was kind of
hoping it was Gelby. It's a big college football weekend.
I know that's going to be a part of your
weekend out there as well. What are your in the
big games Georgia and Tennessee?

Speaker 3 (08:51):
Do you you know? What? Do you who?

Speaker 1 (08:52):
Do you like in that one? And do you do
you think Clemson? We got a lot of Tiger fans
that listen to the show. Are you are you going
Georgia Tech over Clemson?

Speaker 2 (09:00):
I am going Georgia Tech. I thick Clempston to geinst
the National Championship Game this year, and I'm usually not
in on Clempson the last three years because I think
he's standard. There has fallen where it's just okay, go
in the ACC, and they haven't always won the ACC recently.
If that pick, if that Florida State, I know that
Clemson did win last year, but I don't like what
I'm seeing out of Kate Clubnick in Week one. It

(09:20):
carried over into Week two of that entire team did
the show and they were lucky to get a victory.
So I'm gonna take Georgia Tech. I think Kyes King
and it looks like he's gonna play in this one.
He's just an absolute winner. I'm not comparing him to
Tim Tebow because simp Steve was the greatest college quarterback
I've ever seen, but just that determination that will doing
whatever it takes to win. Haines King will run through

(09:40):
a brick wall for a victory. And then Georgia Tennessee.
It's fascinating. There's a lot of pressure I think on
Georgia in this one. Tennessee has impressed right out of
the gate. Nicolie A Malaiappa was a disaster so far
at UCLA. Joey Agilar, this could be a moment for
him to really just win that argument, even though like
he already looks like he's winning it. But I'm not
gonna say against Georgia in this spot in the year

(10:02):
where it's very open in college football, I think there's
a tremendous amount of pressure on Kirby Smart because you basically,
uh said, you guys were the next Alabama and you
haven't won a national championship in the last two years,
and now you're heading on your number three. Uh So
those are some thoughts. And then also Notre Dame. I
think there's a lot of pressure on Notre Dame this week.
Remember last year they lose in US, they go to

(10:22):
the national championship game. Everyone back to the Marcus Freeman train.
But if they start the year zero and two, that's
the team that's supposed to be a national championship contender.
If they start to year zho and two, I think
they would lose another game this year and then they'd
be added the College Football Playoffs.

Speaker 1 (10:36):
Huge games, yeah, good points, huge games. I can't wait
to watch him I was buzzed.

Speaker 2 (10:40):
I wouldn't be able to rattle things off that quickly.

Speaker 3 (10:42):
That's true.

Speaker 1 (10:42):
I think that was the sobriety chickster says Bone is
asking about Vegas.

Speaker 3 (10:47):
Bone barely survived his last trip to Costco. That's true.

Speaker 2 (10:51):
Ye, that's there's a better chance that there's a better
chance that Belichick is out here in Vegas these days
than than Boner back like the year he keeps in.

Speaker 3 (11:00):
This way, UNC might be out there pretty soon, all right, brother.

Speaker 1 (11:04):
Well, hey, we appreciate you, man, especially consider how early
it is that you're getting up, and especially considering the
team that you had to discuss with us. Gelby enjoying
the football out there. Man, it's uh in the fight.
I'm jealous. Man, it's going to be a blast, I'm sure.
And thanks for getting up early, dude.

Speaker 2 (11:20):
Yeah, you got it. Guys. But also you listeners out
there that are listening to someone get up this early
at facas. If you don't go to my social media
on Twitter and Instagram and follow me at Zach Gelp,
then you're just a fool. All right, I got to
get the chief plug in there.

Speaker 3 (11:31):
Do it, man, I'm not going to try to read
off your handle again because that was too much for me.
Last week, some guys.

Speaker 2 (11:36):
A h G E.

Speaker 1 (11:40):
LB got past the sobriety Testokelby. Someone was on your
Twitter and is making fun of your shirt from yesterday.

Speaker 3 (11:46):
That's not you know, So I don't know, do you?
If you want people, that's fine.

Speaker 2 (11:49):
I have classed you know. I was channeling my inner
Craig Sager. Some other people there just a bunch of basses.
So that's what that guy is.

Speaker 1 (11:58):
Shub it and suck it right, feisty Galburi in the
morning in Vegas, Vegas, gel was a vibe.

Speaker 3 (12:06):
Man is he a You're gonna be in a fight
this weekend?

Speaker 1 (12:09):
Oh man?

Speaker 2 (12:10):
All right, Galby, have fun brother later, guys, hold up,
