Speaker 1 (00:00):
Let's get you some picks from Lee Sterling back on
our show. Yet another year's our official handicapper. Where do
you get his real picks? He does the local picks
for us here Bony right, the ones we care about.
He does the ones that you know. He's putting his
money where his mouth is. I wants you to put
your money on online at Paramount sports dot com. Paramount
(00:21):
sports dot com, the great Lee Sterling is here to
break down these games, including the Panther game, which we
always finished with Lee. How you doing, man? How you
feeling today?
Speaker 2 (00:31):
I feel good. Fun to have NFL back. And the
only thing was we had the over last night. You
believe that forty seven and a half and oh sitting
sitting at forty one at halftime, I mean, they scored
every possession and I went to go to come to bed.
(00:53):
I was upstairs doing some work and she goes, that
was easy. I'm like, what do you mean? She goes
the over. I'm like, did you watch the end of
the game. I just assume. I assume we won. I'm like,
she jinxed it.
Speaker 3 (01:06):
No, No, that's a bad beat. The lightning delay completely
altered that the rest of the game.
Speaker 4 (01:12):
Right. I think that was part of it.
Speaker 2 (01:16):
I mean the fumble obviously certainly contributed to it too.
Speaker 4 (01:19):
So you never win games like that, You only lose them.
Speaker 1 (01:23):
Miles Sanders former Panther, might have cost the Cowboys game
and over better or about that? God, that's rough? All right, Well,
hey get back on that. But get back on that horse, Lee,
that's what you do. And let's talk about some of
these games from a local standpoint. What you think about
somebody is from a local standpoint for us, And we'll
tell everybody what your game of the week is and
where they get you big money picks online at Paramount Sports.
(01:44):
But let's start with NC State Virginia non conference game.
A little little twist here. NC stayed at home a
two and a half point favorite. What do you think?
Speaker 4 (01:53):
So?
Speaker 2 (01:53):
I think it's going to be high scoring back and forth,
and I thought to Virginia, I think they might have
finally on their quarterback. I mean, Chandler Morris really good
and he comes over from first TCU and then North Texas,
and you know it makes a difference. You know he
can he can mask a lot of weaknesses. They're still
not great on defense at all.
Speaker 4 (02:15):
Running back Xavier Brown.
Speaker 2 (02:18):
Finally starting to come into his own and also got
a transfer a couple of years ago from Trell Harris,
who looked really good. Sometimes it takes these guys a
year or two to really feel comfortable in the system
and NC State. I just camp back as a favorite,
you know. I just think that look what happened in
the first week. They can win some of these games
(02:40):
that they're not going to cover here in a mild
upset here. I like Virginia high scoring game thirty one thirty.
Speaker 3 (02:46):
Game number two on the Lee Sterling docket here one
of the best games of the weekend. It's in Durham.
Then I on the road favored by three against Duke.
What's the right side of the play Herely.
Speaker 2 (03:00):
I really like Tulane quarterback transfer to Duke Darian Mensaw.
Speaker 4 (03:04):
He is that could?
Speaker 2 (03:06):
I mean, he went twenty seven for thirty four last
week for three hundred and eighty nine yards. I know
it was against Elon, but he's going to put up
some really good numbers this year. And the only problem
is I just think that they're probably one dimensional, mainly
a passing team, and Illinois's line play is really good.
They returned nineteen of twenty two starters from last year.
(03:27):
First week against I know it was Western Illinois, but
they ran for almost six yards of carry. They stopped
the run, allowed just one yard per carry here, and
they closed the season real strong, win four straight games,
beat South Carolina in a bowl game. I think they're
one of the most underappreciated, underrated teams in a power conference.
I like Illinois twenty seven to seventeen.
Speaker 1 (03:48):
Sorry, o, bone, bone, all I pull yourself together about
me that I need that donut over there, if you
don't lie, those are my cob donuts. All right, let's
get into Let's get into a couple of NFL games here,
and we will get to the Panther game. We'll tell
you what his game of the week is and how
you get that as well. Sunday night. Man, what a
fun match up that is. Bill's and Ravens playoff rematch
(04:10):
from last year. Buffalo right around a one point favorite.
What do you think?
Speaker 2 (04:17):
Yeah, So I had both of these games, and I
had it right, and the first time, I'm like, wow,
this is easy. Baltimore beat them thirty five to ten.
Speaker 4 (04:26):
Weather it was good. Boat raced them.
Speaker 2 (04:28):
Second game, I'm like I have a feeling this game
is going to be tight. I can't say how, but
I think that Buffalo's going to find a way to win.
Speaker 4 (04:35):
And they did.
Speaker 2 (04:37):
They were benefited by plus three in turnover ratio in
that game, and the conditions were terrible wet, slippery field cold,
and I mean just I mean drop passes. The Bills
were plus twenty four and turnover margin twenty twenty four.
That was one and a half times as good as
(04:58):
the number two team, twice as good as the number
three team. Generally, there is a regression the next year
after a year like that. And in that playoffs game,
Baltimore gains seven point three yards per snap, the Bills
just four point six. Here, I think Baltimore's had a
little while to sit and chew on that defeat. I
think they come back in a high scoring game and
(05:19):
win this game. I like Baltimore thirty one to twenty seven.
Speaker 3 (05:22):
We're talking to least early in Paramount sports dot com
every Friday here on the Mac and Bone Show seven
to twenty five. Interesting matchup in the NFC South Bucks
and Falcons. Bucks two and a half point favorites. What
are you doing with this?
Speaker 4 (05:35):
One way? Yeah?
Speaker 2 (05:36):
A lot of people think that the Bucks still won
the Tampa two defense and they don't want it much here.
They're all about blitzing and getting pressure on the quarterback.
Atlanta's second season quarterback, Michael Pennix doesn't have a whole
lot of experience against.
Speaker 4 (05:55):
These type of tactics.
Speaker 2 (05:56):
So the big game here for Tampa, they were defeated
by Atlanta, leaving or not, even though they won the
division both times last year. I just think that Baker
is ahead of Michael Pennix, who will eventually be good
but not there yet, and that revenge factor going to
be big here. Preparing for this game, I like Tampa.
I think they win the game thirty to twenty seven.
Speaker 1 (06:19):
All right, Lee st Earling, Paramount Sports with us. Okay,
So before we get your game in a week and
then you tell everybody what you got going on at
Paramount Sports this week, let's do the Panther game. Jaguars
three and a half point favorite at home.
Speaker 4 (06:34):
What do you think.
Speaker 2 (06:37):
Trevor Lawrence? I was eager to see how he looked
in preseason, and he's coming off shoulder surgery. Played a
total sixth series in all three preseason games, and I
thought he looked good. Panthers defense. This is going to
be the key here. Got to get off the field,
allowing more than fifty third down conversions in the NFL
(06:58):
last year and also gave up, as we know, thirty
one point four points per game. The return Derek Brown
can't be understated. Got some free agent names and players
are plugging into this unit.
Speaker 4 (07:11):
Question is it going to be enough?
Speaker 2 (07:13):
Can they get it, you know, down into the mid
to upper thirty. So that's the key. I just think
the Jacksonville's receiver is going to present some tough problems here.
And I think they've kind of, like a lot of teams,
waited and saved some stuff for week one. And here's
a stat I found was really interesting new head coaches
(07:35):
week one when they are favored five and zero since
twenty and seventeen. I hate to see it. I'm not
don't don't like the Jacksonville fans. I like Jacksonville twenty
three seventeen.
Speaker 1 (07:48):
All right, there you go, Hey, at least you hate
the Jaguar fans. At least you could join us in
that this week. This is the this is the first
time you let me down, Jelly since the Duke.
Speaker 4 (07:56):
Pet about that.
Speaker 1 (08:00):
You're a rough week for boning.
Speaker 4 (08:01):
We're rooting for.
Speaker 2 (08:02):
Hey, the biggest one, obviously, you know is the is
the Carolina Panther game. So I hope that's the one.
Speaker 4 (08:09):
I get wrong.
Speaker 1 (08:10):
I don't like that. I like that. I like that.
I know you're not rooting against any of the picks
on the site though. That's your that is your bread
and butter, right, that's your work. So Paramount Sports, I
know you've got a game of the week and Cardinals Saints,
but also I know you got a card this week,

hundred nine seven four one.
Speaker 4 (08:35):
