Speaker 1 (00:04):
When I'll come on sty Oh is Mac and Bowl.
This is my freem bat. This feels like some thunder
for your ass. This is my rim t Bone.
Speaker 2 (00:16):
Happy boss Day to you. Happy boss Day. Do you
love those guys?
Speaker 3 (00:23):
You're listening to the Mack and Bow Show on Mac.
Speaker 1 (00:26):
And Bow Radio. Good morning, Charlotte, Welcome board.
Speaker 4 (00:44):
It is time for the Mack and Bone Show on
a Wednesday. Sitting here middle of the week, we start
to turn our attentry more and more to the Panthers
attempt to get that first road win of the season,
to win three straight games for the first time since
Slinging Sammy and Matt Ruhle began the twenty twenty one
season on fire at three and to zero. We've got
(01:07):
a lot of conversations to have. There's also this annoying
Atlanta Falcons hype. I mean, I guess, I guess they
are first in total defense, second in total offense, and
they just beat the Bills by ten points on National TV.
But didn't they leave here with a donut with a
krispy Kreme hot now, don't it? So we'll talk about
(01:27):
this Falcons hype a little bit on the show.
Speaker 1 (01:29):
Today.
Speaker 4 (01:29):
We got college football conversations to be had. Got to
hand out some midterm grades to all the local teams
at the halfway point of the season. There are a
few good students, there are some absolute dunces that need
to be held on detention, and we will do so
here on today's Mac and Bone Show.
Speaker 1 (01:51):
And it's a day late, but we do a little what.
Speaker 4 (01:53):
The bleep here on Today's Mac and Bone radio show.
So we got things happening on the show. We got
to fit in the house. We got the birthday boy,
the bone man in the house. Bone turns twenty five today. Man,
let's a bone man. People say, Bone, how do you
look so young?
Speaker 3 (02:09):
For? Uh?
Speaker 2 (02:10):
How do you stay so young? Well, it's a skincare routine.
It's a lot of uh self care, and it's a
lot of uh not really going outside mac after five
pm at night. That's those are your keys to keys
to uh continuing to look youthfully.
Speaker 1 (02:26):
Don't overdo it.
Speaker 2 (02:26):
And you gave me great advice when I was younger,
and that was, you know, don't set expectations too high
because then people expect a lot out of you. So
the what were you keep expectations? And all through life
the better off yard. That's what the show's about. Whoa expectations?
Speaker 1 (02:43):
That's true.
Speaker 5 (02:43):
Man.
Speaker 4 (02:44):
By the way, we did I mention the Panthers. We're
gonna talk about the Panthers today. Speaking of low expectation. No,
our expectations are going up. Bone, they're going up. We're
trying to make sure they don't go up too far.
Here on today's mac win Boat Radio show, we have
officially made it out of big catch power ranking back
out of the the backside area. We are now into
(03:04):
what we we've moved away from uh super ass mega
ass we are now we are now trending upwards into
the middle pack area.
Speaker 1 (03:15):
What do they call our category? This week?
Speaker 2 (03:17):
It didn't make a lot of sense. It said frisky
and they have a skataboo. We were with the giants.
I'm not sure what I was or did we get cams?
Did we sign cams? Brother and people are asking him
why the Panthers don't have a scataboo, and all he
kept saying was yes they do.
Speaker 1 (03:31):
So I don't know.
Speaker 2 (03:31):
I don't know if he was saying like Grico's fun
to watch and he's the scatab I don't know what
that meant. But we moved up though they're taking that's
always not near as insulting is typical. I have two
more signs this hour, Bone, because that's what we're looking for,
right We're looking for not only the obvious on field
signs like look the way the run defense is playing,
look at the way we're running the ball, but we're
(03:54):
also looking for the subtle signs that show there's progress
happening around here. So I got a couple of more
signs this hour that the Panthers Bone are certainly progressing.
Last night, in the world of sports, bone Man, we
had ourselves the Dodgers with another ridiculously well pitched game.
(04:14):
Yama Moto Yamamoto gave up a first pitch home run
last night and then shut down the Brewers after that,
five to one. The Dodgers won last night, so they
lead this series two to oh. Bone, Are we headed
for a Seattle Dodgers series?
Speaker 1 (04:33):
Yeah?
Speaker 4 (04:34):
And if we are, how excited are people going to
be about that?
Speaker 1 (04:39):
On the East Coast? It could be worse? Yeah? The
coast thing is certainly notable.
Speaker 2 (04:43):
I I'm actually kind of mac, even though I'm not
a Dodger fin by any means, I hate them. I'm
good with them advancing because Milwaukee Seattle would just be
the narrative of, oh my god, it's these two markets.
Speaker 1 (04:56):
This is that.
Speaker 2 (04:57):
At least the Dodgers gives you La in a little
bit of that at David versus Goliath. Feel Seattle might
be in a lot of trouble if that's what it is.
Of course, that feels like that's where it's headed. I'm
at least glad we at least have something that has
that going on, because Milwaukee Seattle, to me, would be
just holy rather horrendous. At least the Dodgers give you
(05:17):
that main team that we hate the root against it.
Speaker 1 (05:20):
Yeah, yeah, you.
Speaker 2 (05:21):
Go on to win, but I'm kind of almost I'd
rather see him get there for that storyline.
Speaker 4 (05:25):
You got Dumper versus Dodgers, Dumper versus Otani.
Speaker 1 (05:29):
You know you got something there. That's all I got
for you. I mean, I don't know.
Speaker 2 (05:34):
I'm the wrong guy to ask about whether or not
this is some exciting baseball matchups and stuff. Dumper goes Hollywood,
There you go, baby, there you go. Sounds like a movie.
Then Fitty was streaming last night, what's that good Morning fit?
Very close Mac, very close. I had a suspicion. I
had a dang suspicion. Back by the way, I know
(05:54):
you're gonna give signs later about the Panthers and where
they're trending. I may have another want to add into
that mix of I just noticed something, A.
Speaker 1 (06:02):
Good deal, good deal.
Speaker 3 (06:04):
It was good.
Speaker 1 (06:04):
It feels good to be good.
Speaker 2 (06:08):
Still case, I was gonna say, great, I don't want
to go that far. You you can't get above twenty
into power rankings. And I looked at them all, but hey,
well that's all right, that's all right. It's a process
or making progress towards number nineteen.
Speaker 4 (06:20):
Bone at some point in time. Also want to shout
out to US men's national team Bone and Haji right,
Haji right. Two goals last night.
Speaker 1 (06:28):
It wasn't.
Speaker 4 (06:29):
I'm not gonna act like it was some sort of
pretty display. They played I thought way better in the
UH in the drawl against Ecuador on Friday night, but
the US wins rolled on Christian rolled on two assists
to Haji right. They win to to one over the
soccer ruse Bone of Australia Christian. The big headline, though,
is a Christian polisic. Apparently something in his hamstring. He
(06:50):
left this game early. He's going back to Italy, to
his club in Milan. So anyway we'll sort it out.
US team. The next international break will be in November
and then, but there's only two more bone international breaks
before the World Cup, so it'll be here before you
know it. There's only like I think, four more games
that the US will play to tune up for the
World Cup. They are making some progress though, there's no
(07:14):
doubt about it.
Speaker 2 (07:14):
I guess like saying soccer ruse, I like that. So
I figured you would enjoy garouse. That's a good nickname.
I figured you would be in on that bony. That's
my Australian voice, soccer ruskagaroos.
Speaker 1 (07:29):
There you go. Watched a lot of Crocodile Dundee when
I was growing.
Speaker 4 (07:33):
You think that's a knife. This is a knife? Why
do I will never forget that line? That's That's about
all I remember.
Speaker 1 (07:38):
That, you big crocodile dundee guy back in the day.
What's that? How dare you dal?
Speaker 6 (07:45):
You?
Speaker 1 (07:45):
Dare you disrespect a cinema class? Serious?
Speaker 2 (07:49):
Let your guys not when you have your guys night
every week? Why don't you throw out some of Crocodile Dundee.
Speaker 7 (07:53):
Once in a while, people were watching eighteen eighty three,
man were watching The Duntons Go West.
Speaker 1 (07:58):
I thought you were watching morning show. What happened to?
Speaker 7 (08:00):
Oh that's my personal show. Oh that's mine when I
get home from working, relaxed show and Mac, I gotta
tell you Paul Mark's daddy.
Speaker 1 (08:09):
Excuse me. I cannot get enough of John Ham?
Speaker 2 (08:13):
Did you when you say Guys Night? I like John
Ham the Guys Night? Every week? Were you and the
fellas watch TV? How many guys are involved in your
Guys Night?
Speaker 1 (08:23):
It's me huh.
Speaker 2 (08:25):
My cousin huh and his dog no flown. Wasn't floun
get involved in Guys Night?
Speaker 7 (08:30):
This is something that when I cause this was the
cousin that when I first moved in with we lived together.
This was our one we had. We used to have
two hang out nights that he got a girlfriend coming
down to one. Yeah, it's just that one time a
week I hang out with my cousin and we just
sit there and say me say maybe five words. We
watched whatever show we're going through right now. It's eighteen
eighty three.
Speaker 2 (08:50):
When I was driving home yesterday, a little bit later
because Back and I had a thing we had to
do after the show. But I heard you guys did
a great job filling in for Colin yesterday. You and
the Young Bunch, the Young Bun show that comes on
uh sometimes when Colin is out. Did I hear Shroppy
going after Flounder's pouch and then Flounder exposed the belly
(09:10):
during the show?
Speaker 1 (09:11):
What was going on there? See? Weaponizing is belly now? Yes?
Speaker 7 (09:14):
Somehow or another Shroppy attack Flounder's gut and Flounder decided
to pull said gut out, which Dog granted, to be fair,
was not a lot of work because Flounder wears two
tin of shirts so all basically he just had to
breathe real hard and the shirt came up naturally.
Speaker 4 (09:31):
But there was Flounder's gut. Also, Mac, can we report
that to hr by the way? I feel like that
is offensive behavior, terrifying behavior.
Speaker 1 (09:39):
Heard Mac was you want the gut? Here's a gut?
Speaker 4 (09:41):
No geez, we please don't weaponize. That's worse than weaponizing
than Mac curse against someone's team. I mean, seriously, that
you're gonna make a guy blind is bad enough. Fitty
his shirtless every week dancing right now geese.
Speaker 7 (09:55):
We also enlightened flound Mac to the world of six
seven because he did not understand six seven.
Speaker 2 (10:01):
I mean, you really, even if you think you understand it,
it really doesn't make any sense.
Speaker 7 (10:04):
But then, like the whole break, he was just six
seven sixty seven. So after criticizing those of us were
DoD sixty seven, he learned about six seven.
Speaker 1 (10:12):
I could not stop seven.
Speaker 4 (10:13):
The fact that somebody was talking about Lamello's height being
six to seven in a rap song, and now all
of a sudden, kids can't stop staying it.
Speaker 1 (10:19):
It really doesn't make any sense. Bone. Yeah, but I'm
at the point in.
Speaker 2 (10:23):
My life where everything that kids do doesn't really make
sense to me anymore.
Speaker 1 (10:27):
You know what I mean, I'm at that point.
Speaker 2 (10:29):
Explain the founder Fitty that UNC football probably this year
will not get in the six seven win rank man.
Look at that early stray early straight at the heels,
forty two year old Bone dunk Garre anymore. Bone didn't
even wait for the college football segment. He just got
right into it.
Speaker 4 (10:46):
All right, let's uh, let's do a little bit of
basketball stuff here the Hornets tonight. Uh, this is a
TV game on FanDuel Sports Net, So I'm looking forward
to watching this. This will be their final TV game.
I think it's the next to last preseason game, is
that right?
Speaker 1 (10:59):
Yeah? Friday night, I think is the last one? Okay,
this one is.
Speaker 2 (11:03):
Uh, we do have a pregame show tonight, the first
one of the year. Uh here in the preseason, So
looking forward to that. There you go, so listen to
that tonight at six. The game is at seven six seven,
see six seven again six game at seven.
Speaker 4 (11:18):
But anyway, they're playing Memphis, and uh, I'm looking forward
to watching them. I did not see the Dallas game bone.
Speaker 2 (11:25):
I was obsessed with college football at that point on
Saturday night. But I'm a little worried about Trey Man's injury,
though they're calling it day to day, the hip injury.
So Kalkbrenner went off on on Saturday. Yeah, he's playing
played great. Lee was he started the game. Lee was
giving him rave reviews.
Speaker 4 (11:44):
So that that's an interesting development at a position where
we like good developments.
Speaker 1 (11:49):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (11:49):
I saw him raving about his defense late last week,
so yeah, he's Uh, what a what a revelation Mac
that would be if he's in there able to at
least you know, we're I'm not saying greatness right away,
but can he just hold it down in a spot
that we have major questions at right now, in the
center position.
Speaker 4 (12:06):
So the ACC also a little bit of hoops. Let's
talk a little bit of college hoops.
Speaker 3 (12:09):
Bone Man.
Speaker 4 (12:10):
The ACC yesterday put out their results of their media
vote for the preseason poll. They've got Duke as the
choice to win the conference, Duke Louisville as a choice
to finish second. I would say, I would say you
should get used to those two teams being at the
(12:32):
top of the conference because we know Duke ain't going anywhere,
and Pat Kelcey, we know he ain't going I think
we should know that he ain't gone anywhere as long
as he's at Louisville.
Speaker 2 (12:41):
Are going on guards in America. This year as a freshman, MIKEL. Brown,
that'll be a fun guy. And he was on first
team All Conference. They had two first team All Conference players.
We'll get to the local representation of that in a second,
but I do want to mention that that Carolina and
NC State were three and four. If you look at
the ap pole this week week Bone Duke was six,
(13:01):
Carolina was twenty five. State was literally twenty six, if
you like, if you had extended out one more spot,
they were among they were first among the others receiving votes.
I would say, get used to State and Carolina being
close to each other. This feels like this is they
are very equal this year, and that that's another reason
(13:22):
that Will Wade's mouth. Are are reasons why Bone it's
a shame they're not playing two times, but I would
expect that to be a back, you know, back and
forth conversation all season long. It's a shame they're not
playing two times, as you said, and they pushed it
back further. Right, aren't they playing like mid to late
February fifty It's way later than usual. Right, normally he
gets into that early January time. But that we have
(13:44):
to wait a very long time for the one game
this year, I believe.
Speaker 7 (13:47):
Yeah, that's trying to think it's like it's after Valentine's
d Yeah, it's way wait. So it's right there in
the middle where they played State and Duke in two
of their final like five games.
Speaker 2 (13:56):
So can we at least play I mean, if they're
going to play it once, can we at least maybe
move that up so we can get that. I cannot wait.
As an innocent bystander, I cannot wait to see that matchup, Maack,
I got no dog in the fight. I just want
to see my two friends do battle. Of all the
years Carolina winning games by literally fifty points in this
rivalry in the not too distant past, and all the
(14:18):
years that they played twice bone and it was just
a you know, they're not our rivals invitational, you know
what I mean? And now do we have juice?
Speaker 4 (14:29):
This is this is so like this is you talking
about hashtag go acc. This is such an ACC thing.
And I understand what's going on with the schedule and
stuff like this, but like it's just it's just figures
for this conference, doesn't it.
Speaker 1 (14:42):
Absolutely?
Speaker 2 (14:43):
I know that Mac, you probably have down the line
somewhere in your head, like the top five players you
can't wait to watch play ball this year in the Carolinas.
For me, not a guy that I root for on
his team, but Darien Williams from NC State, the Texas
Tech transfer who we t talked about last week got
media days. I cannot wait to see him play. Preseason
(15:04):
player of the Year. I had are you went CCC
preseason player there NC States, Darien Williams, And I had
a person tweet me last week when I was referencing
UH in a tweet the star player from NC State
said something about UH North Carolina. They said, that's not
a star player. I have to be very careful not
calling Dariy Williams the star back. Their TV is not
(15:25):
work during March man, or they have no idea who
he is. Well, yeah, that's that's well. Yeah, their TV's worked,
But they weren't watching Darian Williams in Texas Tech exactly.
They weren't paying attention to them even though he was
bawling the hell out.
Speaker 1 (15:38):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (15:39):
I'm looking forward to seeing him. It's going to be
fun man, and he is not bashful. I left that too.
The guy can play. He's going to be able to
back it up. As far as the so that's the
player of the year. As far as the all conference
teams local representation, you had, Darren Williams of course was
first team. Cam Boozer, the freshman big at Duke that
(15:59):
we can't wait to see. He was on the first team,
and then second team. Caleb Wilson, the u NC stud
freshman we can't wait to watch. And then Isaiah Evans.
That was interesting to me. Isaiah Evans gonna make that
jump bone.
Speaker 2 (16:15):
I mean the as his game complete enough, his shooting
is going to be off the charts. I think he is.
Big Pat is another one there at the center spot
that I think at the end of the year will
probably make one of the All Conference teams. I would
guess he's getting Johnson Rave reviews as being maybe. I
know Boozer is the best NBA prospect. That's Can Boozer,
not his brother Kayden, but Cam Boozer. But they said
(16:36):
Big Pat has just been unbelievable on both ends of
the court.
Speaker 4 (16:39):
The Evans thing, I'm just I'm a little skeptical of
is he a top ten player in the ACC? Realize
this is not in nineteen ninety four's ACC understand nineteen
eighty fours.
Speaker 2 (16:49):
ACC understand that. But he hopefully got stronger in the
offseason and he has to do more bone than shoot.
You're gonna be a top ten player in in the ACC.
I feel like there's gotta be more of a well
rounded game. He flashed it at times, but I feel
like his his all around game has to really take
(17:09):
steps forward.
Speaker 4 (17:11):
Now his role's gonna be different. He's gonna be asked
to do more of that stuff. Right last year, they
had so much around him, it was like, bro, just
come in and fire right.
Speaker 2 (17:19):
I think he's gonna have some of the highest scoring
games in the in the conference this year, where that
doesn't mean he's going to be that consistently. That's what
he has to find is that, you know, he may
Mac have some games when he wipes it up for
thirty plus just because he's on fire, and then he
may have games where, you know, he may get seven
or eight. He's got to find that middle ground there,
really find consistency because and Darren Harris is another guy
(17:41):
that may help him out who's playing well.
Speaker 1 (17:43):
Here in the fall.
Speaker 2 (17:44):
They may have two shooters on the wings, so you're
gonna have to maybe check a couple guys there that
can really shoot the basket. You shot missed a chance.
You could have said, there'll be games where he has
six to seven.
Speaker 1 (17:53):
You ma to check.
Speaker 2 (17:54):
You said seven or eight has got to be six seven?
Do you do you You don't live in that world.
Speaker 7 (17:59):
Mac.
Speaker 1 (17:59):
I am I am too mature to get down in
the muck.
Speaker 2 (18:02):
Now that's your big four two TikTok trends now that
you're the big Jackie Robinson, age forty two, I know
four too.
Speaker 4 (18:09):
I do about there, Viddie. Do you guys say I'm
five to four to two? Do you guys five seven
to two? Do you guys think that a lot of
these unk announcers, because I'm sure we sound pathetic. My
own son has told me we sound ridiculous when we
say six to seven on the radio. Do you think
like Schlareth did it like three times in a game
(18:29):
the other week? I'll often hear announcers say six seven
Do you think they're trying to do that on purpose?
Do you think they're oblivious?
Speaker 2 (18:35):
They're they're trying to do Okay, they're trying to They're
trying to be hit with the kids, just like we're trying, Matt,
Just like we're trying and failout out to Mark schwuyerth
Matt guess for he'll be this weekend? Where's that he's
doing the Panther game? Oh my god, just when he
thought he was out, they pull him back in. I
played seven games, this will well, this will be seven
on Sunday this will be his fourth of the season.
Oh did he make somebody mad? Macafox. Hey, at least
(18:59):
it's a new and improved Panthers. Hey, we got Chris
Myers back though with them this week. There you go,
there you go. That's wrong with respect the buyers when
we come back. Plenty of college football stuff. Matt Ruhle
responds only as he can about questions of the Penn
State job. We have a look at seller's draft stock.
We have blatant disrespect for the south oldest rivalry Sports
(19:21):
Radio seven WFNZ.
Speaker 8 (19:36):
I absolutely love it here, and I just wanted I
want us to continue to take the steps needed for
us to turn this thing into a beast. And players
all across the country want to come here with the
best facilities. We have, elite fans, and you know, I'm
just looking at the future. So but again, I love
that place. I love I love Pat, I love James.
(19:57):
Franklin said that that that came to an end. I
wish him that absolute best. But I'm really happy here
and I excited to get going this week on Minnesota.
Speaker 1 (20:05):
That is Matt roll right there.
Speaker 4 (20:08):
That was the end of a two and a half
minute answer to being questioned, and his press are about
the Penn State job and the speculation of would you
go to your alma mater. Also in that two and
a half minute answer bone he went a minute and
sixteen before he started talking about the job at Nebraska
(20:30):
and how much he likes the job at Nebraska. A
minute sixteen he talked about how much he loves Penn Stadium,
met his wife there, He's got so many memories there,
he will always love it. He talked about James Franklin
and how much he loves him and feels bad for him.
Then he went on a thing about the way Franklin
was treated and his family when they left the stadium
the other day.
Speaker 1 (20:50):
He says, that's not right.
Speaker 4 (20:52):
Then he got into it Carolina, the way he was
treated in Carolina, and it was a minute sixteen later
he remembered, oh crap, I better go into the mode
where I start talking about how much I love this job.
Speaker 2 (21:05):
And that's the part you heard there. So I am
convinced of this.
Speaker 4 (21:08):
I know we got Husker fans that listen to show
a couple of them Husker Mike the other day. I
am telling you right now, Matt Ruhle would pay to
be the Penn State coach. He would pay his own money.
Speaker 2 (21:19):
He wants it so badly he would leave right he
would leave a five and one team right now and
go coach Penn State the rest of the season.
Speaker 1 (21:27):
He'd leave in the middle of the season and go
coach that.
Speaker 2 (21:30):
Maggot's also not just the audio, it's the visual, the
wook on his face and kind of the body language
when he was talking, because we always said the problem
with Matt Rule among many was that he never quite
had a plan when he went into pressers, like he
tried to think of them on the fly stream of
consciously he would he goes, and that's where the rambling
even after in the post games, when he would not
(21:51):
never even have coach speaking, just ramble the wook in
his iMac when he's talking about Penn State.
Speaker 1 (21:56):
At one point he goes, huh, and you.
Speaker 2 (21:59):
Kind of like, what's off of the distance, Like he's thinking.
Speaker 1 (22:01):
About it, Like he gave no audio.
Speaker 2 (22:05):
Uh, he gave nothing on audio there that led to
believe that he wants to stay in Nebraska or visually
the way he had no wook in his eye was
like dreaming, like, uh, I love it that he can't
hide it.
Speaker 4 (22:15):
I've we've known I've known it for years. He can't
hide it. That place is special to him. Man, he
wore a neck roll as a linebacker at Penn State.
All Right, you know you don't fall out of love
with that. But and you met and you met Julie Ruld,
the greatest meatball chef in America at Penn State as well.
So anyway, that's gonna be interesting. We'll see if he
ends up being the guy. I would still rather Penn
(22:36):
State take some big swings be told no by some
big names. What the hell I'd ask Mike Elco. He
says it's easier to win probably and get to playoff
in a Big Ten, although he has a top five
team right now, so he might say screw that argument.
I would make him say no. I'd make guys like
that say no. And Kirk Signette he's a guy. I
think they have a chance of him saying yes to
(22:57):
yesterday Bone. I think it was two days ago. Matt
Barry podcast, He's Got Fine Bomb on and listen to
this exchange about Indiana coach Kurt Signetti, who also has
a top five team at Freaking Indiana and football listen
to this.
Speaker 1 (23:14):
Do you find Kurt Signetti likable?
Speaker 5 (23:21):
No? I mean, they answered pretty simple. I mean I
think you know me I should say.
Speaker 1 (23:29):
I mean, I.
Speaker 5 (23:31):
Respect him to no end. But he's brash, he's over
the top. He's had the last laugh, which is a
really great attribute for somebody who is successful. And he's
probably laughing right.
Speaker 1 (23:45):
Now watching this.
Speaker 5 (23:45):
So the guy with no hair gave me no shot.
He laughed at me, and look who's got to laugh?
Speaker 4 (23:53):
Now, what do you think? Bo didn't you say you're
starting to like Signetti.
Speaker 2 (23:58):
He's getting to the point for me that he's so
unlikable that I'm kind of starting to like him a
little bit. Like there's no pretending. I think he's authentic,
and that's kind of what I like. Like, there's no
pretending with that dude. He's kind of a jerk and
he doesn't really act any other way than he's one
of those coaches that here's who I am, take it
or leave it. And I kind of like that old
school character that he had, not character like values, but
(24:22):
just the character that he is. Like comedy wise, listen,
if he told you reminds me of Dan Akroy.
Speaker 4 (24:27):
Listen, He's arrogant as hell. I win Google me. I
mean that's a true that's an actual quote from this man.
He is, well, yeah, he looks like Dan Aker that
I had never noticed that before you said that this weekend.
Speaker 1 (24:39):
Do I find him unlikable? Yeah?
Speaker 2 (24:41):
Probably do. I literally have said this four times in
the last two days. Do I think he might be
the current best coach in college football right now.
Speaker 4 (24:50):
In terms of a job he's doing. I'll just put
this way. I think he's doing a better job than
anybody in college football when you just look at where
he's at, how quickly he has turned this into a
tough five team. It's just it's literally unimaginable what he's doing.
He's certainly arrogant, but I would take that. I've always
said I would take an arrogant guy that I can't
(25:11):
stand if he's great, to be my head coach in
a heartbeat. So I would like Penn State to throw
four trillion dollars at this man. They personally they will
enter the Big Ten Championship Game undefeated. It seems they've
got Michigan State, UCLA, Maryland, Penn State, Wisconsin, and Purdue.
Back in the day, if you had Penn State Wisconsin
(25:32):
back to back. That would concern you at the moment,
of course it does not. I can't see after what
they did on Saturday and they beat the Alainai as
well by fifty three, I can't see them. I can't
see them losing a game before they get to the
Big Ten Championship.
Speaker 1 (25:46):
Did you see?
Speaker 2 (25:46):
And by the way, I'm gonna stop talk about Penn
State in a second because I hate doing this thing
where I talk about my teams that are not you know,
from around here, and like I realized a lot of
people don't care. But I feel like this Penn State thing,
I feel like it's pretty sill. My rule connection there's
three yeah that too, and I just think it's pretty salacious,
right to James Franklin, who is such a hot button
guy and he got fired literally literally like two weeks
(26:10):
after playing an overtime game against a great team.
Speaker 4 (26:13):
But anyway, I digress. But his contract. Front Office Sports
reported Bone that in his contract with Penn State he
must make a good faith effort to try to find
another coaching or a broadcasting job, or else he will
forfeit his money and whatever job he does get. If
he gets a job bone anything. He's owed eight million
(26:34):
a year through twenty thirty one by Penn State whatever
he earns in that job. And I would say right now,
whoever hires him will pay him less, knowing that Penn
State could make up the difference. But whatever he earns
in that job, Penn State makes up the difference upd
eight million dollars per year.
Speaker 1 (26:47):
So, but that is interesting. Good faith Can they prove that?
I don't know.
Speaker 4 (26:52):
Can they prove that you're not making a good faith effort?
That's usually coaches contracts don't have that in there. Usually
coaches can take there, buyout money and go sit on
damn beach if they want to.
Speaker 2 (27:03):
Yes, that's interesting. They have heard of that before, to
be honest about it. Also, Kirk Kirkstreet was raving about
his media potential the other day. Also, they think he
can be really really good in media. You would know
more about it than I would. Oh, he's pretty charismatic.
He's often saying things that people don't like, Like, he's
often saying brash things that people can't stand. But he
(27:24):
definitely is chars That's how he's such a good recruiter.
That charisma. I've always seen that you know, I would
love a Keegan, Michael Key James Franklin podcast together the Twins, Yes,
the Franklin Twins, actually Keeg and Michael kee macmay Ma
coaching your football team?
Speaker 1 (27:40):
He could he be? You think we had the wrong one.
Speaker 4 (27:44):
All right, let's get a couple of other things going on
in college football.
Speaker 2 (27:49):
Uh did you see Mel Kuiper's big board? I did
not see it, though, I'm not really in draft mode
right now. I'm focused on trying to get this Panthers
to the p work, all right, Mel Kiper Junior's big board.
Wom and yeah we're winning. But yeah, I'm still looking
at corners on the big boards. I'm not gonna lie
to actually anyway, warners of a pass rushers, Mac, I'm
looking at corners. I mean, I'll always look at pass rushing,
(28:12):
but I'm looking at corner another team.
Speaker 1 (28:13):
That I should probably look at for mantras.
Speaker 4 (28:14):
But go ahead anyway, all right, anyway, don't let don't
get me into a draft discussion out fitting, all right,
don't do it to me, Just ask him. The point
of this big board conversation is where Lenora Sellers is
Where would you guess Lenora Sellers this bone number season,
he's having number two twenty one.
Speaker 2 (28:32):
Wow, yeah, twenty one. Do you think his stock is dropping?
I mean, again, we don't know. This is one guy
in Baltimore's opinion, right, yeah, I think I do you
think his stock is dropping? And should it be dropping?
I think I kind of get why, But I think
it can go back up mac because when you look
at the pre draft process, you can see Lenora's sellers
(28:55):
wowing people with his size. You would guess that throwing
the ball at the world. I think he'll move back
up there within the pre draft process. Season has the season,
and there's a lot that's going on around him. He
has not been great, but I think individually, once we
go through the workouts and the pro days, I think
he'll move back. I think I'll wow some people.
Speaker 4 (29:15):
Quick Aside Fitty, I I swear I don't want to
get into a Panthers draft conversation. Caleb down Safety out
of Ohio State is another guy. I'm noticing, another guy
that would fit in very nicely next to Treyvon Mayor.
Speaker 1 (29:26):
I don't want to. We don't do that. When we
won't do that when we've won three three straight at home.
Man I don't do that.
Speaker 2 (29:31):
I'm gonna say I don't want to talk draft either,
but I do really like kle Downs definitely, definitely as
far as Sellers goes, I'm gonna be honest with you,
I still think he has the most NFL potential any.
Speaker 4 (29:42):
Quarterback in the country. I think he has so little
help this year.
Speaker 2 (29:46):
And you can point to Mike Schule ass coordinator and
Dal Logins left, you can point to an offensive line
that has to be one of the worst in Power
for football. I think it's just horrendous. Until the other day,
they had run the ball all year and they certainly
can't pass protect for Leonors. I think the weapons are
very pedestrian. So I still look at that dude and
(30:11):
say that because of the physical and he has so
much room to grow. And I'm not saying he's perfect
as a passer yet or all that stuff, but the.
Speaker 4 (30:22):
Miszoo game he was dropping dimes. I still think physically
he's got the most potential long term NFL.
Speaker 2 (30:28):
I do too, and other quarterbacks back have taken a
hit here in this draft. So the quarterback depth of
this draft, I mean, look at Drew Aller. We thought
he might be up there in some form this year.
Nuss Meyers had a pretty pedestrian season for his standard.
Speaker 1 (30:43):
He's been hurt, but yes he has.
Speaker 2 (30:45):
Club Nick has been you know, he's had some moments
here in the last couple of games. But Clubnick has
not been that heisman guy. So it's not just Sellers.
It feels like a lot of the quarterbacks have had
there there.
Speaker 4 (30:56):
Well, what's happening is there are new quarterbacks that are
getting ranked on this Dante Moore despite the two interceptions
against Indiana, the Oregon quarterback is number one on Kuiper's
Big Board. Fernando Mendoza, the other QB in that game
for Indiana, is number three on Kuiper's Big board. Peter
Woods is still five. I just don't think Peter Woods
(31:17):
has been that active this year.
Speaker 2 (31:20):
No, he's at the Clubnik of the defense I thought
Saturday was he supposed to be.
Speaker 4 (31:24):
He's got eighteen tackles, one point five tackles for loss,
point five sacks, and Kuipers still believe it in the
physical he's got him at number five. Let me see here,
are there other quarterbacks that are working their way up there?
Ruben Bain nine, Are you kidding me? You talk about
looking at pass rushers. How why am I doing this again?
The Panthers are playing good enough for me not to
talk about the draft. But Fitty, to your point, ruben
(31:45):
Bain number.
Speaker 1 (31:46):
Nine, are you kidding me?
Speaker 4 (31:48):
We ain't gonna be drafting fit until the twenties anyway, though,
So I had to look lower on the thirties, lower
on these mock drafts.
Speaker 1 (31:54):
That's the spirit, Matt.
Speaker 7 (31:55):
I was just surprised that that was what you were
looking at when you were looking at the draft. Stuff's corner,
because I think we can all sit here and agree
the biggest issue with the Panther defense is they need
a pass rusher.
Speaker 1 (32:06):
Where your mind would go, I think there's two big issues,
and we'll see about the linebackers. Linebacker linebackers. Where I
was two weeks ago, I thought Trevin Wallace played tremendous.
Speaker 2 (32:14):
The other day, yeah, I thought it's amazing the way
you gave a young player the green dot more leadership responsibility.
He's gotten so much better, exactly, and the way the
veteran needed that responsibility off him, and he's flying around
like Rose Boom is. But if you don't notice Fit
that we need a young corner to be the long
term running mate with j C.
Speaker 1 (32:30):
Horn You're blind. We definitely do, man, I know we do.
Speaker 7 (32:34):
I was just told the other day not going to
name names that Mike Jackson's played not a cause of concern.
Nothing to be worried about Mike jack getting carved up
the last three weeks. Who told you that Mike jack No, listen,
he'll play better than that. This has been a rough stretch.
He'll play better than that. But I just think we
can look at that and see that young that the
young running mate to j C. Hornbone, I think is
(32:56):
very key.
Speaker 2 (32:56):
And how did we get into not only a Panther
conversation in the middle of the college football segment, but
how do we get into a draft conversation while the
Panthers are in fuego?
Speaker 3 (33:05):
Bone?
Speaker 1 (33:05):
Who did this?
Speaker 2 (33:06):
We just love to talking to his phone? Can I
also point something out here? Okay, I did this pone.
You're not gonna answer you.
Speaker 1 (33:12):
That's on me.
Speaker 2 (33:13):
How I'm on Kuiper's big board here? Interesting too. When's
the last time Kuiper Mack had a running back at
this point in the season? Number two on his big board?
And the era where running backs have been devalued. Jeremiah
Love is number two on the board right now. He
is kind of crazy to see that happen this day
and A definitely, definitely, I have a.
Speaker 7 (33:30):
Question about the big board. By the way, excuse me,
I have a question about it.
Speaker 1 (33:33):
Go ahead.
Speaker 7 (33:34):
Where was UVA quarterback Chandler Morris? He's not on Lombardi's
big board figures? Where What about Ryan Brown at a Purdue?
Speaker 4 (33:43):
Lombardi thought that was the big NFL prospect until they didn't.
How By the way, I need to know more about
them kicking taking Ryan Brown is their transfer quarterback according
to Stuart Mandel's report, thinking he's NFL material, and then
by the spring they booted him out of the What
happened there?
Speaker 1 (34:02):
I need to know more about that. I'm afraid to
know what happened like that you changed your mind on
him that quickly and try to kick him out of
the program.
Speaker 7 (34:09):
I think maybe he tried to hit on Jordan Hudson
and Michael Lombardi SAI, we're gonna get you out of your.
Speaker 2 (34:13):
Son's Hey, I'll take that explanation. I will take that.
When we come back, we have some news on Panther roster, moves.
Jerry Jones speaks on the loss to the Panthers, and
we have more subtle signs the Panthers are making progress.
Sports Radio ninety two seven WFNZ.
Speaker 6 (34:48):
I was so impressed with what Carolina did yesterday. I
was so impressed with I mean, their offensive line. I
promise you will be on AQ's top five group. I'd
be surprised if they're not number one. They kicked the
absolute pratt out of Dallas' defensive front and their double
team game, I mean they're double teams were just you
rarely see in that league where double teams literally moved
(35:11):
defensive tackles five, six, seven yards down the field. They
were moving people at the line of scrimmage.
Speaker 1 (35:17):
I wrote down the name number eighty.
Speaker 6 (35:18):
Seven too, because I don't want to be disrespectful. But
Bryson Premaine for them as a blocker, as a wide
receiver blocker was absolutely off the charts with their tight ends.
Speaker 1 (35:28):
Thought Bryce was really good.
Speaker 6 (35:30):
Pet mcmilland looks so smooth, I mean tech McMillan. Don't
overthink it, guys. When you watch he looks so smooth.
Rico was outstanding. They dominated at the line of scrimmage.
I think it's a huge win for them, absolutely, now
like they get a little bit momentum going in Carolina.
Speaker 4 (35:45):
That's dan Olowski, and I'm glad they brought up Bryce
in Tremaine's blocking bone. He was in for seventeen run
snaps as a blocker, he had the best and again
take these grades for what it's worth, right, it's one
person sitting in an office, you know, PFF. But he
had the number one run blocking grade on the team
this week, and he comes in handy getting his big.
Speaker 1 (36:07):
Body out there.
Speaker 4 (36:07):
T Matt got out there on one two and use
that skinny body out there blocking Lea get spent getting
after a little bit in that and certainly the tight ends.
But I'm glad Orlowski singled out Tremaine because we hadn't
really mentioned him this week, Bony and his run blocking
mag If you go back two months to August fifteenth,
and I tell you that dan Orlofski is mentioning bryceon
(36:29):
Tremaine in a national spot, what would you say about
the direction the season's editing where Bryce and Tremaine. First
of all, we would have said, all right, bryceon Tremaine
made the football team. That's interesting what is he doing
to get called out by Dan Roofsky. That shows you
the level that he is making an impact when he's
getting mentioned in it. There's probably a ton of people
(36:49):
out there, my football wise that are googling, not here
in our show, but the McAfee viewers. Who in the
world is bryceon Tremaine. I mean he didn't have one catch, right,
No he did not, so but again, and that stuff's important.
Speaker 3 (37:01):
Man.
Speaker 4 (37:02):
Ask Musin Mohammad how important blocking is when you're a
run first football team as a wide receiver, you know,
I mean, ask kines Ward about it. I'm not trying
to say bryceon Tremaine is that sort of block or
anything like that, but I just think it's it's cool
to hear an analyst that knows his crap so much
that he will mention a wide receiver with zero catches
having an impact on the game. It's just also and
(37:23):
we should mention it too, No no doubt.
Speaker 2 (37:25):
To Dan Morgan, this is back to back years where
he's found impact wide receivers and players that were not drafted.
It was Coker last year, it's Tremaine this year. I
know they're not the same type of guy, but He's
shown already Mack in his in his brief time a
charge that his front office and it's staff they could
identify some dudes post draft here.
Speaker 4 (37:43):
I mean FITZI was undrafted. Like if you at the
start his season, look at the game he had the
other day. Corey Thornton's been out there the last two weeks,
had a big pass breakup late against Miami. All right,
let's talk some Carolina Panthers here. I do want to
salute the tempers Bone. Do you want to bring this up?
And it's funny this this is I noticed on social
(38:03):
This angered a few Clemson fans. This has angered a
few Clemson fans. David and the Coletepper five million dollar
donation to South Carolina Bone and to help their Department
of Entertainment and Sports Management, so that department will be
named after David and Nicoletepper. So there was at least
(38:25):
a couple of Clemson fans on my timeline that like
the Panthers that said, man, he just loves the cape Cocks.
He drafts all their players. He doesn't draft any clubs
of players. And now look at what they're doing that.
I don't know if you saw that that definitely happened.
Speaker 2 (38:39):
Yeah, those folks are probably muted on mine, but yeah,
I can imagine.
Speaker 1 (38:44):
It's funny what you're dealing with there.
Speaker 2 (38:45):
I'll say this though, mac on a selfish part of
my side of this. Can some of that money be
used to maybe tell Mike schul to go away? Here's
the money of michel Is buyout. Is that what you're
looking for there? I know this old man above football here,
but maybe you give a little to schol and say, yeah,
I go ahead and get yourself on other job somewhere
else is cold. I've had enough Mike Schulan out my
wife the last two wife times.
Speaker 1 (39:07):
I can't do it anymore.
Speaker 4 (39:08):
It has not been a good start for him as
theoc in South Carolina. By the way, Panthers did make
a roster move with the active roster waving Trevan Thomas.
He might have already ended up back on the practice squad.
I have not seen that yet, but that could happen.
And there's a spot open and a lot of folks
are wondering is that Cocher spot? Because Coker has not
(39:31):
officially been move bone off the IR He's just had
his twenty one day window to practice and then in
that twenty one day window it started last Wednesday, so
he's got two more weeks he has to be put
on the active roster. So a lot of people are
wondering is that the move that's getting ready to happen?
Speaker 1 (39:48):
Today?
Speaker 4 (39:48):
A big day with the injury report at practice today
for Jalen Coker, JT Sanders, Turk Wharton, and Cuba Hubbard.
Watching those guys and Corbett's going to be back out
on the field. He's getting his twenty one day practice
window opened up as well.
Speaker 2 (40:03):
Feels like it feels like we are right at Cocher time.
It feels like right now is probably when he's coming back.
Would be my guests. Feels like maybe last week it
was close. This week, it feels like we're there. I
would agree with that. Cads, it's your time.
Speaker 1 (40:16):
That's the thing. Bone. We on fire. We won three
straight home games, three or four overall. Bone.
Speaker 2 (40:21):
We won't talk about that game in the middle, and Uh,
we're getting guys back. The cavil the cave. How do
you say, cavalry, cavalry? Yeah, the Cavilry is coming, baby coming.
Speaker 1 (40:35):
It's I'm getting there. I'm getting there.
Speaker 2 (40:37):
Here's another sign to keep in mind here, I looked ahead.
I'm not looking ahead past the Jets, because I'm not
that dumb. I'm looking ahead do the Bills game just
momentarily for broadcasting purposes in week number eight, it's a
Fox game. Fox only has five games that week. They
do not have the double header four twenty five game.
(40:59):
So I feel like with the Bills coming in here,
the Bills are not on Fox a lot. They don't
play at one o'clock a lot. We could either get
Olsen in that game again, or we possibly could get
the first time Tom Brady.
Speaker 1 (41:12):
They were gonna be at their game. Oh, just throwing
that out there.
Speaker 2 (41:14):
We should make sure we all will be yelling up
and then we go to because they're gonna they're gonna
want to showcase the Bills on Fox. They don't get
them a whole lot.
Speaker 1 (41:21):
All right.
Speaker 4 (41:21):
I'm gonna make a confession here, Bonie, And that's an
interesting point. I'm gonna make a confession. I have also
looked at something to do with the Bills the worst
run defense in the National Football League in yards per
carry all out at five point eight and thirtieth in
rush yards per game allowed. I'm just gonna leave that there.
I know I'm looking too far ahead. I'm gonna leave
(41:41):
that there. All right, let's look back.
Speaker 2 (41:43):
I've got sum on Green Bay now, Matt, because listen
to that Buffalo. Let's look back for a second. Here
at the Dallas game, Old Jared finally spoke. Boney didn't
speak yesterday or after the game to the media like
he usually does, but he spoke yesterday on the Sean
and r J Show.
Speaker 1 (42:00):
Down there on a fan in Dallas.
Speaker 4 (42:02):
Listen to some of the Gobbly book he spits out
about losing to the Panthers.
Speaker 3 (42:07):
What's interesting is that the way the game panned out
was very, very on point with the way that our
coaches planned for the game to pan out. We just
thought we could get more stops. We thought we could
physically do a better job with them, and they were
(42:27):
able to scheme us a little bit that to their credit,
but we were in that game close enough. What I think.
I don't want to take too long on the Santra,
but Carolina is easy to overlook as a formidable matchup
with us. They match up right good against where we
(42:50):
need the work, and so they were a tough, tough
opponent for us the other day. We almost pulled it.
Speaker 1 (42:58):
Off, almost pulled it a little down. It was almost
pulled it off. I love it.
Speaker 2 (43:04):
That was the most Ramboy since Matt Ruhle in the
last segment there by the way, Matt, just catch up, babe.
Speaker 1 (43:09):
Is it just me?
Speaker 2 (43:10):
I think the fake Jerry Jones that we used in
the montage of Misery yesterday sounds more like Jerry Jones
now than the actual Jerry Jones does That sounded to
me like a fake Jerry Jones compared to the fake
Jerry Jones. This impostor out of there by Dallas cowboy.
So anyway, I thought y'all would want to hear that.
That's enterest We just a tough matchup, and they almost
(43:32):
pulled it out. Man, they all littone cowboys almost got there,
almost hold it out for thirty years. Jerry a couple
of things real quick. Agen it worse than I you
hear the other one he said?
Speaker 1 (43:41):
He said, uh, we.
Speaker 4 (43:42):
Are six back to six seven again, we are sixth
or seventh in wins in the Romo and dak Eras.
I'm sorry, who gives a bleep and done nothing in
the playoffs? Shut the hell up, old man, even if
you're a cowboy fang, why do you want to hear there? Nobody,
no cowboy fan wants here. That all right, let me go.
We don't want to hear And he got with a
(44:03):
couple of things real quick here, Bone, I promised you too.
Subtle signs that there is progress being made in Carolina.
The first one is that I saw a list of
the top seven coaches per Vegas that are most likely
to be the odds to be the next coach fired.
Speaker 1 (44:20):
Dave Canalis is not in the top seven.
Speaker 3 (44:21):
Bone.
Speaker 2 (44:23):
He had been in the top four two weeks ago,
So that is po I'm telling you it's subtle, but
I noticed these subtle signs that there is progress being made.
The other one, Bone and I shame on us for
not giving our guy at the Dilworth or did we
give him props?
Speaker 1 (44:37):
Still Worth Fiaborhood grill signed this week? We did, Yeah,
we did, Yeah, we did.
Speaker 4 (44:41):
The Fact that the Dilworth Faborhood signed this this week
owner was making fun of Jerry Jones and not our
owner is another subtle sign Bone that we're making progress.
Speaker 1 (44:55):
I know, we're subtle signs where.
Speaker 2 (44:58):
We're actually like bonding together now in mocking others, and
it feels it feels good Mac for at least the momentarily,
because in twenty fifteen we were the bullies. We were
dictating the conversations, pant their fans whatever. They were the
bullies going after people, and it feels good right now.
For however long it lasts to be the bullies again,
(45:20):
We're not Arnold Jackson anymore.
Speaker 1 (45:22):
We are the gooch.
