Speaker 1 (00:02):
When come on sty Oh is Mica and Boa. You
guys are the most entertaining sports program in the world.

Speaker 2 (00:13):
Bone go, no, no, stop talking. You and I are
a couple eating a lady in the tramp. You're the
lady on the tram. Yeah, come on, come on, baby,
I was Boopy Boopy McLean man.

Speaker 1 (00:24):
It's a great name on the bond. Good morning, Charlotte,
Welcome board.

Speaker 2 (00:43):
It is time to do the Mack and Bone Show
live from Panther training camp. It is their final day
before they fly out tomorrow to Houston for a Thursday
joint practice in a Saturday preseason game. It's essentially the
end of training camp and we are here for one
more day to bring you interviews with the fellows. We
got some great ones for you today. Sit back, enjoy.

(01:05):
We got Panther News as well. We got ourselves at
starting center. We've got Xavier League get doing a press
conference yesterday where he continued to apologize for the ejection
on Friday night. We'll let you hear how that sounded.
We've got another college football poll now. We got the
AP poll out with the college football rankings. Still a

(01:28):
ton of SEC teams. Spoiler alert we'll talk about that
as well. We've got ESPN with multiple different lists and
rankings that basically slander the Panthers. We will have to
spend some time on that as well. As we talked
ball today on the Mac and Bone Show. Fitty setting
things up here did an awesome job. Did it in

(01:51):
just mere minutes. We've got Colin and George back at
the studio and the Bone man is hang it out
here with me. What's up, Bony, jo Yo, Dody? Oh,
what's happening?

Speaker 1 (02:00):
Man?

Speaker 2 (02:00):
I cannot believe that the Panthers allowed us in the
building again two weeks in a row. And I gotta
tell you Mac, conditions have changed in Spartanburg. Well, we
would battle the elements of spotting bag. Now we're battling
the elements of a suite with booze and SODA's and
air conditioning. This is not quite what we grew up
on that. But it's very nice of you know what,

(02:21):
they respect us. I think you think we finally earn,
finally earned sweet access. They talked about putting us in
the woods out there that we talked to me and hey,
what us in the building again?

Speaker 1 (02:31):
Right here? Let us in JJ's house and of course
j J. Jansen will stop buy at eight o'clock.

Speaker 2 (02:38):
I mean he's always got time uh to yap on
the radio, and we got things to talk about.

Speaker 1 (02:44):
JJ was miked up. Steve smith slandered him. Uh.

Speaker 2 (02:47):
He talked to ref into picking up a penalty flag
of the Panther and an active Friday night pre season opener.
So we'll talk to him. We've got you'll hear from Uh.
You hear from the Brown Bowl, Derek Brown, Bobby Brown.
You will hear from a couple of offensive linemen, Robert
Hunt and nikey Ikuanu. On today's show, Trayvon may Rig

(03:09):
one of the most exciting signings that we have. And
young rookie Trevin Wallace, who we just found out last
week sounds a little bit like Jamis Winston when he
gets to yap and fast he done. That's Southern accent.
So all those fellows are going to join us today.
In addition to JJ on the show, we got a
lot of Panther talk on the conversation. Have to talk
to Bone a little bit today about the wide receiver

(03:31):
pecking order and when you try to figure out, Okay,
who do we think has the most catches yard, second
most catches, third most catches.

Speaker 1 (03:38):
Stuff like that.

Speaker 2 (03:40):
Is Jalen Cocher changing the way we feel about those rankings.

Speaker 1 (03:43):
That's something we'll talk about today.

Speaker 2 (03:45):
And Dave Canallis was asked yesterday about Cocher and the
roster and making it in the the Panthers Twitter kind
of went nuts on the on the question that was
asked because at this point in time, there's no doubt
that that Jaywen Coker is making this football team. It's
just a matter of at this point, Mackers, where you
slot him in in the in the in the rankings

(04:06):
of the whiteouts, there's no doubt he's making it. And
that was that question, is that that's out there and
there was no doubt that Dave Canalis wasn't gonna answer
it though. Yeah, you know what I mean, Like, you
can't tell a kid, You can't tell a second year
player no matter how good he's playing.

Speaker 1 (04:18):
Yeah, you on the roster, kid, don't worry about it.

Speaker 2 (04:20):
Yeah, Like you've got to continue to make him work, right,
So basically he said, hey, he's been one of our
most reliable receivers. If he plays like this, he's going
to get the ball. He's gonna be on the field,
so the question can't be answered. But yes, I think
we all believe he is safe. I'm wondering about Hunter, Renfro,
David Moore, Jimmy Horn. That portion of the receiver group,

(04:43):
you know, is what I'm I'm not concerned about Xavier
League get bone, even though a Panther fan on Twitter
posted a poll saying should we just trade Xavior League?

Speaker 1 (04:54):
Get right now?

Speaker 2 (04:55):
My gosh, settle down. It was just one fan, all right,
although some of y'all did vote yes on that.

Speaker 1 (05:01):
Damn Poul sheez.

Speaker 2 (05:02):
What a young player be a young player, alright, he
messed up. He's learning, all right. You don't see me
trying to off wide receivers off the roster, although the
Coker thing did happen though, But my bad on that,
My bad on that, My mad coax, if you're here. So,
I honestly think the if we were to trade a receiver,
and that's another conversation. We have a Herd Colin and

(05:23):
the guy and shopping those guys talking about the other day,
I honestly think Feeling wouldst make the most sense to trade.
It's the last year of his deal. Young guys like Cocher,
you know, starting to come into their own. If Renfro
can be healthy and be what he's been in the past,
he's very similar to him feeling in play style. So

(05:45):
I you give me a look, you give me a look,
or do you just have indigestion. I'd gave you no
luck whatsoever. I was making sure that my computer was
loading up, so I wasn't even looking your direction.

Speaker 1 (05:54):
I think it's a good point.

Speaker 2 (05:55):
However, I wonder if a team in the hopefully he
will be the Panthers. But you wonder theland's value to
a one of the contending Super Bowl teams about maybe
now or is it a trade deadline thing as well?
Like see how the young guys do or Philly or
Baltimore or what you know. You know, the teams if

(06:17):
they lose somebody that's his name come up attached to them,
depending what they're ross. Plus, it would allow you to, Okay,
we got him there babysitting the kids. If the kids
can do it without a babysitter, then maybe we can
just so that gives you a little bit of flexibility there.
It's interesting, but I think we all can see this
is it for thieland here in Carolina and probably very
well could be it for his career this final year.

Speaker 1 (06:38):
Yeah, Renfro if Renfro is Renfro.

Speaker 2 (06:42):
That completely alters the room and maybe what you try
to do with that room because of similarities of a
vet status between Theoloe and Renfro. But I'm not sure,
young guys, when we're in the middle of this rebuild,
you know, Stephen Whitaker is up at him. He wants
a trade XL. There you have it, man, come on
with dog. Yeah, why did I act like it was
just one fan putting the polo like honey of y'all
are probably out there saying saying to do it. It's

(07:05):
just there's too much physical skill to give up on
him after one year. And by the way, I don't
give a damn about what happened the other night. I
want everybody to know that just because we spent a
portion of yesterday's show lecturing him like I was in
dad mode, you know, does not mean I think that
should affect his status on the team. I hope people
don't think yesterday bone because I saw a couple of people,

(07:26):
Oh my god, your guys, get over it already.

Speaker 1 (07:28):
It was just a fight or whatever.

Speaker 2 (07:30):
It had to be said, right, It's just a knucklehead
move to allow yourself to get caught up like that
in the middle of the football game when you've got
a lot personally going on in terms of trying to
battle for your position and stuff like that. But like,
I hope everybody, I hope people aren't like wanting to
trade him because of.

Speaker 1 (07:46):
The other night. That should have nothing to do with
the feeling you learned a lesson.

Speaker 2 (07:51):
No, No, I think that people are trying to tie
it into production and Coker's present, and it doesn't. It
doesn't make a whole lot of sense. Also, I'm afraid
that if say something about XL today, he'll come and
give us the the Mullins one two down here, Oh
that little Mullin's two step on us. I gotta be
honest with you. Isn't it good to have multiple young

(08:13):
receivers that are good?

Speaker 1 (08:14):
It's allowed, Like, so, yeah, that's the thing.

Speaker 2 (08:16):
So what if Cocher passes him and Leet ends up
as the third option moving forward? Like, it's just he's
on a rookie contract. I just why do we have
to get why you get rid of a young guy,
I don't necessarily understand somebody wants to package XL and
will mellow together in a deal. So we're always are
we never not in trade mode somewhere somewhere on the
text line. If it's not a player, it's one of us.

Speaker 1 (08:39):
That's yeah, that's true, that's true.

Speaker 2 (08:40):
But we would never trade one of us, except you know,
we'll check Fitty's value.

Speaker 1 (08:44):
It's all. Oh, I got Fitty, just got to set
up a form minutes you.

Speaker 2 (08:48):
Oh no, no, I said check his value as a compliment,
Like I didn't say it was a negative trade.

Speaker 1 (08:52):
Maybe maybe he needs to go somewhere he can win.

Speaker 2 (08:56):
Oh so much winning is going on here, just all
the winning anyway, unlike our sports teams.

Speaker 1 (09:02):
All right, let's talk about it. Bone Man.

Speaker 2 (09:05):
The big news yesterday Panthers training camp. Austin Corbett named
by Dave Canalis the starting center for the Panthers. He said, hey,
it's close with Cad May's, but basically, we want to
do this now because we've got a joint practice and
a preseason game where we're expected to play the starters
even more than we did on Friday, And he wants
big corps to get those reps with Bryce Young, you

(09:29):
know what I mean. We want to make sure Bryce
hands and Big Corps booty fit beautifully together. So that
makes sense, you know well, I said, I wonder too,
and we'll see.

Speaker 1 (09:39):
We'll see what happens this week.

Speaker 2 (09:41):
But I wonder too, is part of it do they
want to get cad May some reps with the one
at left guard because I believe he's probably the best
left guard option we have.

Speaker 1 (09:51):
You could argue Brady Christensen too.

Speaker 2 (09:52):
I'm talking about without Zavalla and without Damian Lewis, who
are injured right now.

Speaker 1 (09:56):
We hope they're both back by the time the regular seasons.

Speaker 2 (09:59):
But that's what we've talked about though, and I agree
that this is also about cade May's But this is
when you have the depth and continuity of all these
guys that you can mix and match a little bit
depending on what you need. And it's unfortunately that early
they need to do that. But I felt Corbs was
the center when they brought him back, So it's nothing
earth shattering there. But uh, again, it's the the amount

(10:22):
of bodies that they can have and utilize if they
need on this offensive line that we like about it.
So over we listen, but you got to get the
other guy's back for it to work in full, especially
Damian Lewis. But yeah, I mean I like the versatility
of all these guys. I And here's the thing with Korbs,
I just have to point out he would God, if
he was here, he'd pancake my ass.

Speaker 1 (10:42):
You don't like this kind of talk.

Speaker 2 (10:43):
Bone, But like he has not been a sure thing
health wise, so you know what I mean, Like he's start,
he's going to start the start of season, knock on wood.

Speaker 1 (10:52):
He plays seventeen games.

Speaker 2 (10:54):
But it's nice to have a guy like Cade Mays
in reserve for that backup spot. But also you know
that could fill in on multiple spots. Mister Korbes, if
you're here, you go stay healthy though this year seventeen
corby mister Korbes. This is mac here. So if you're listening,
he is. You walk in the room here, he's wearing
the the FC hat right now.

Speaker 1 (11:16):
He is.

Speaker 2 (11:16):
He gets a little feisty when you bring that up.
But you want him to be feisty about that. You
like your football players feisty offensive lineman.

Speaker 1 (11:24):
They live off feist.

Speaker 2 (11:25):
So anyway, that was the big news yesterday big news.
Also a hunter, rentro Brack back Derek Brown. Back Derek
Brown came back to practice and the run defense was
dominant in eleven on eleven. Oh yeah, And Dave Canalis
was asked after practice, what was going on while was
the run defense so good? He says, Derek Brown was
back there on the field. Funny how there's a correlation

(11:46):
between those two things. Almost like our run defense would
have been better last year with the couldn't get ay worse,
but almost like bone that was a big factor in
how stinky we.

Speaker 1 (11:55):
Are playing run defense last year?

Speaker 2 (11:56):
So you mean Avero forgot how to coach and the
team became the worst defensive all time back and coincidentally,
Dereck Brown wasn't in there. I believe he tried to
explain this. Definitely played a big row one thousand times
this offseason. I'm not saying there were another problems, Oh
there was, buturies didn't help you.

Speaker 1 (12:13):
The other injuries didn't help either. Guy like Shaq.

Speaker 2 (12:16):
And it's not like dB played like six games. He
played one game. That's the thing about it. He was
out for It wasn't just like he got hurt mid season.
Dude missed the entire year. He did the entire season.

Speaker 1 (12:28):
How about the.

Speaker 2 (12:28):
Fact that that's extra motivation for him too. He didn't
sit for like December. Dereck Brown, that competitive dude had
to watch his defense that he is the biggest piece
of have the worst defense ever. And that comes off
the motivation last year individually when he got left off
the NFL Networked Top one hundred. He was disrespected last
year and motivated now his team was disrespected. He's got

(12:51):
personal disrespect and he's got team disrespect. You don't have
to go too hard to find motivation for that guy
that you know, we're gonna have to get him cranked
up later today. He's big on this whole, don't you
dare Davis thing. We're gonna have to get him cranked
up on that when he joins us here. In a
little bit to the college football world, bone Heels got
an injury on the offensive line. Veteran Austin blask He

(13:13):
broke his foot. Reports seem to indicate he could miss
that first month of the season, So could miss those
you know, first three four games or so of the season.
The good news is they brought in a transfer lineman
up front on offense. That is a position that does
feel like they're deeper at. But he was definitely one
of those guys bone it was gonna be one of

(13:33):
the leaders of that unit. Alabama, Kaylin de Borr announced
that Ty Simpson is the starting quarterback there. So we're
about hitting the time where these coaches are gonna start
unveiling who the starters are.

Speaker 1 (13:46):
There's a lot of.

Speaker 2 (13:47):
Big time teams, highly ranked teams that still have quarterback
battles going on. Notre Dame has one too, right, that's
going on, although they expect CJ. Carr to, I think
get that job, but you're right, Yeah, these these prominent
programs Io States and the Ohio State's got one.

Speaker 1 (14:02):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (14:03):
So these prominent programs, and that's what makes it so
intriguing about Clemson and Penn State and then Arch Bennings.

Speaker 1 (14:11):
You know, he's still got a ways to go to
proof who he is.

Speaker 2 (14:13):
But Clemson and Penn State, they have the most experience
of anybody coming back at the quarterback, not just there
are other guys around them that they have the two
most sure commodities end us fire, but they have the
two most sure commodities at the quarterback spot of those
top tier teeps. Yeah, Miami's number ten in the in
the We're gonna go over the ape pole in her
second Miami's got Carson Beck, who I guess.

Speaker 1 (14:34):
I don't know. Is he a sure commodity anymore? After
last year?

Speaker 2 (14:37):
Some people's gone played pretty well. I feel like I
don't think those receivers or the O line helped him
last year, which is rare for Georgia to have to
say guys are letting the quarterback down. But I think
that was the case last year at Georgia for Carson Beck.
But we'll see. Georgia thinks they have Tim Tebow now

(14:57):
running quarterback. Their fans, Gunner Stockton, you calling out Georgia fans,
I'm calling them out.

Speaker 1 (15:02):
Oh yeah, it bothered me. Espech are that Georgia George
is my pick to win the SEC.

Speaker 2 (15:06):
Good So you want to be a shy team up
with a Georgia fans against.

Speaker 1 (15:09):
You, bony do it?

Speaker 3 (15:10):
Ugu?

Speaker 1 (15:12):
Where's my man Georgia? John At is he up early
in the morning? He touched you out.

Speaker 2 (15:16):
I know he's probably not. I don't know what he's
up to this morning. Oh man, I told him to
find a new hobby.

Speaker 1 (15:21):
Yesterday, so hopefully he found one AP pole.

Speaker 2 (15:25):
Let's see it is Texas number one, Penn State number two.
It was very close. Two first place votes were the difference.
Texas had twenty five, Penn State had twenty three, and
that was basically the difference between one and two. Ohio
State is three, So in the APE Pole it will
not be a one versus.

Speaker 1 (15:45):
Two matchup to open the season.

Speaker 2 (15:47):
It will be in the coaches poll, but not the
APE Pole when it's Texas and Ohio State. Clemson is four,
so there are two spots higher in the AP pole
than the coaches poll. Georgia is five, Notre Dame six.
I'm trying to do this on memory.

Speaker 1 (16:02):
Who the heck? Seven? I've hit a snag. Alabama's eight, right, seven,
I got it right here?

Speaker 2 (16:09):
Hold on Alabama's eight, LSU nine, Miami ten, I'm missing seven.

Speaker 1 (16:15):
Seven is Oregon? Oh?

Speaker 2 (16:17):
There we go, there we go. So anyway, that's the
top ten. The only other SEACC team is SMU. There
are If we thought there were a lot of top
twenty five teams bony in the in the coaches poll
from the SEC, there's one more in the a people
Oklahoma jumped in here.

Speaker 1 (16:35):
There's ten ranked SEC teams in this pole. South Carolina's thirteen,
same spot as they are in the.

Speaker 2 (16:41):
Coach they are and Oklahoma didn't just jump in. They
leaped in because they weren't in the other one. And
they're eighteen in this one. You don't often see that
big of a gap. Usually it might be like twenty two,
twenty three, and then the other one might be out
eighteen to not ranked. This is where we thought they
should be in the coaches poll. Oklahoma the fact that
they they weren't in it, but they're eighteen in this one.
I think this is more accurate than than the other,

(17:03):
although I only concern with them as their schedule is brutal. Man,
they play like seven or eight ranked teams. You know
how some stories come out MAC and you can't figure
out anymore, like what's real, what's a what's AI?

Speaker 1 (17:14):
What's a parody account? Well, did you see the matiar stuff?
Last night?

Speaker 2 (17:18):
They found his Venmo transactions where it says what you're
paying money for He was making gambling transactions to people
on certain games in twenty twenty two. But I don't
But again I have not seen it on like I
haven't seen like a national reporter.

Speaker 1 (17:33):
I don't think.

Speaker 2 (17:34):
So I'm trying to figure out, like, is this like
someone a doctor that I don't know. I'm trying to
investigate that right now. If anyone knows the Matear story,
let me know. I can't figure it out, like because
I haven't seen like McMurphy or Thambil or any of
those guys say hey, look at this story, developing, developing story. Yeah,
there you go, unless someone's trying to mess with them
and get him in trouble.

Speaker 1 (17:54):
I don't know.

Speaker 2 (17:54):
But it was like twenty twenty two money for a
bet on Southern col and he.

Speaker 1 (18:01):
Was where then? Where was ge at Washington State then?
I don't know, Or was he.

Speaker 2 (18:07):
Still in high school trying to u No, yeah, now
he was probably out of high school. Anyway, we'll sort through.
We'll sort through that one bone man, right now, let's
do this. Let's take a little breather. All right, Bone
looks overheated. After that first seventeen minutes.

Speaker 1 (18:21):
Of radio he was at Washing he did say as
a freshman, Okay, all right, there you go.

Speaker 2 (18:24):
So when we come back, we got more Panther news
from yesterday. Jalen Cocher y'all. Do you know what he
did in practice yesterday? We got to talk about it,
and we'll let you hear excel. All the questions and
answers in the press yesterday pertain to Friday's ejection. We'll
let you hear that too. Sports Radio ninety two seven.
We're live from Panther Camp on WFNZ.

Speaker 4 (18:57):
You know, we talked to often. When you talked to
they both did a great job. Austin Corbett's going to
be our starting center, and we decided to make that
decision knowing that this week going to Houston with the
joint practice and then having the game, we felt like
those those reps, you know, just kind of solidifying who's
the starter gonna be. With Bryce, it's a good time

(19:18):
to kind of transition to where he's getting more of
those reps versus splitting them day after day. It was
really close, I'll be honest. I thought Kaid did a
fantastic job orchestrating the group when he was out there,
getting his snaps off on time, moving people in the run, game,
anchoring in the past. I mean, it was it was
a really close competition, and I think Corbett just kind
of brings a level of leadership that just kind of

(19:41):
edged him out in my opinion. So but again, competition
brings out the best in both guys, and I was
really proud of the way that they competed.

Speaker 2 (19:50):
That is Dave Kanalis yesterday talking about what we discussed
a big news item from yesterday's practice. Austin Corbett is
the starting center. Kde Bays now kind of factors in
at depth in the interior center and guard, and uh,
it makes sense, man, big Korbes went healthy is a
hell of a football player and a great veteran influence

(20:12):
and leader on that O line. Man him and Taylor
moten Hunt. We got some good leaders on that O line.

Speaker 1 (20:19):
Respected guy.

Speaker 2 (20:20):
Also in the locker room that I mean, those things,
you know, those things matter. Also, uh, underrated trash talker.
We're gonna ask some of the offensive linemen today. We'll
ask uh Rob Hunt, maybe Ikey, We'll see. We'll ask
them about Korbs trash talking because we've enjoyed it before.
Very understated though, right, it's very kind of like sarcastic
put downs when the other guys don't realize they're being

(20:41):
talked down. That's a lot of what it's a lot
of what I try to do sometimes. Oh is that
your style oftizic?

Speaker 1 (20:47):
Like Mac? I really respect your efforts today. You're doing great.

Speaker 2 (20:49):
Okay, Oh that's what Corpus does. Okay, now I got you,
Now I have you. We mentioned Renfro. Derek Brown came
back yesterday to practice. Those are great site, especially for Renfro.
He's going to want to get back into thick of
this battle for those last wide receiver spots. And Houston's
a big week for him, having a joint practice and
then having the game on Saturday afternoon.

Speaker 3 (21:14):
J C.

Speaker 2 (21:14):
Horn, though did not practice yesterday. Bone and coach Canal
has kind of explain what's going on with Horn after
the car wreck and you know where he stays health wise.

Speaker 1 (21:25):
I hope so.

Speaker 4 (21:26):
But I was also you know, told that, you know,
if we were playing a game, if we're playing regular
season game, he would be fine to do that. He
would be out there at practice kind of taking care
of it. Because we are in preseason mode right now.
You know, I think you know, he had some stitches
on his uh in between his thumb and index finger,
and so we just got to make sure that thing's
healing up the right way. So that no infections happened

(21:47):
or there's no setbacks. It's not worth it, you know,
to to put him in that situation. So but I
think we have a couple of days to see, you know,
if we can binge that up, because I know JC
would love to be out there at the practice and
compete against other guys. And I love what the Texans
have done with their wide receiver room and two Iowa
State guys who I liked, you know, Higgins and uh

(22:07):
and I remember and Noel Jaylen Noel, So both of
those guys kind of adding to that group with Nico Collins,
and I'm sure he would be excited to get out
there and go against those guys.

Speaker 2 (22:17):
How dare you, Dave forget my draft crush, my second
round draft crush.

Speaker 1 (22:21):
Jayalen Noel?

Speaker 2 (22:22):
You forgot him during the draft too, So they they
they drafted both those fellas they did.

Speaker 1 (22:28):
Yeah, Iowa State, I forgot all about.

Speaker 2 (22:30):
That they did se That's the thing about coaches, though,
you can bring up names and they'll give you the
numbers offense here with the players, they know the players
more by number.

Speaker 1 (22:38):
A lot of times they remember names.

Speaker 2 (22:39):
Or that one that he knew the school. He knew
he state guys that we scouted. But a lot of
times all even even like players will talk about their
teammates will be like twenty two's out there, twenty one
or eighteen, and they speak by It's almost like Nascar,
they speak by numbers more than the names of the competitors.

Speaker 1 (22:54):
I'm almost, well, you're.

Speaker 2 (22:56):
Here like the forty eighteen thirty one teams. Sad of
like the driver of the team. But yeah, so that's
the deal with horn precautionary in that I don't know
what you call that area?

Speaker 1 (23:05):
Is that like the webbing? Yeah, yeah, right, what you
would call that, well, that area right.

Speaker 2 (23:11):
Between your pointer finger and your thumb is where it
got cut because of the air bag. Basically, yeah, that
is that is the it's kind of like the webbing
of your hand. That is exactly what away my doctor backgrounds.
That's so do the the your doctor background?

Speaker 3 (23:27):
Huh?

Speaker 1 (23:28):
Yeah, what's that about? Long story? You going to medical
school or something.

Speaker 2 (23:33):
My sarcasm has be uh in a situation in the
neighborhood right now, a neighbor that I don't think they
really know me from the radio, but they saw me
wearing uh South Carolina Gear and Duke Gear. So they asked,
of course, why do I represent both schools? I said,
I graduated from South Carolina, but I got my PhD
from Duke. I thought they'd realize I'm not a doctor

(23:55):
living in the apartment complex. The guy who thinks of
a doctor, now he calls me doctor when he sees me.

Speaker 1 (24:02):
So is he being sarcastic too? Don't on the joke.

Speaker 2 (24:05):
No, I think you think you really think you're a doctor.
He thinks I'm a doctor, I think. And here's the problem.
I've now gone too far in where I can't tell
the guy I'm not a doctor. If he comes to
me with a medical question, I'm gonna have to feel
this thing. This is like, this will be like a
scene out of a movie when he frantically needs medical
help and try to flub your way through it. Yeah,
and then and then somebody just croaks. Now that's where

(24:25):
this is. That where this is headed. Someone on your
watch is gonna croak. I never told him what doctor
I am. I guess I could be. Uh, I mean,
I guess I could be like a psychologist or like
a you know, like physical therapy. If he if I'm
gonna be in there like with real medical those are
real medical stuff. But if I'm in there with like
bones and all that sort of stuff, words, some trouble

(24:47):
this is you're a you're a doctor? A BS is
what you are? You got a bsn BS. Dante says, Bone,
that's not sarcasm, he's straight up live. Uh. The only
thing I can think of is maybe he's in on
the joke because he knows we're in an apartment complex.
The doctor wouldn't live here, so like maybe he's in
on it and just says, hey, doctor, well.

Speaker 1 (25:08):
I guess we'll never find out. I guess, so maybe
he's mess with you.

Speaker 2 (25:11):
Now?

Speaker 1 (25:12):
Do I have to? Maybe?

Speaker 2 (25:15):
Do I have to buy some things and just go
to my car once in a while. What's the what's
the thing? What's the thing? You checked the telescope? I
don't think that's it. I gotta get I got what
is it?

Speaker 1 (25:26):
Stephoscope?

Speaker 2 (25:27):
I gotta get a I gotta get a doctor's code
or something, don't I doctor?

Speaker 1 (25:32):
Bone?

Speaker 2 (25:32):
That sounds more of like a sounds more of like
an adult. This is a bad movie scene waiting to happen.
I'm telling you right now. An emergency and the guy
thinks he can count on Bone. I've seen this in
movies before, where people think being a doctor Bone.

Speaker 1 (25:44):
This is not gonna end with I about the girl
on the dating app.

Speaker 2 (25:47):
I tweeted about it over the weekend that asked me
how long I've been in Rodeo for and I had
to say radio. I'm in radio, not Rodeo. So I've been.
I've been a doctor and a rodeo person in the
last week. You didn't lie though about Rodeo. No, she
couldn't read. Okay, by the way, you might want to
cross her off your No.

Speaker 1 (26:05):
No, she's exactly what I need.

Speaker 2 (26:07):
I can fool her eight four three numbers, says sounds
like a Seinfeld episode Doctor Bone, Catfish. Gumpy says, just
start wearing scrubs, man, really lean into this. There you go,
he is a scrub. I don't know if he's gonna
be wearing a scrubs. All right, let's move along. Hey, Fitty,
you want to be you want to be my nurse?

(26:28):
People are nurse fity. This story is cracking people up.
Nick says Bone is the new George Costanza. This does
kind of sound like something that would happen to Costanza.

Speaker 1 (26:37):
You say it though.

Speaker 2 (26:39):
Sometimes my humor back is dry and sarcastic, and these
things could happen once day. It's not a lie if
you believe it. The Great George Costanzo once said that,
any ways, how's your shoulder? Go with it, man, I
may need you to be my fake patients. Okay, okay.
People are pointing out the PhD is not a medical
degree as well.

Speaker 1 (26:58):
So you got that going on for you? Is it not?
What's the doctor? What's the doctor degree? He says, Did
you say PhD or MD? Oh? Oh yeah, that's true. Yeah.
Are you like doctor Jill Biden? Is that what you are?
So that's the kind of doctor you are?

Speaker 3 (27:14):
Oh?

Speaker 2 (27:14):
So he thinks something, So he thinks something, you think
something like, uh, all right, anyway, let's uh, let's focus
here now.

Speaker 1 (27:24):
I got to write a book.

Speaker 2 (27:25):
Let's lock in, baby, Let's lock in. Because Xavier League get.
I'm also taking questions if anyone happens. Okay, okay, Xavier
League get. Yesterday. I gave him credit. I'm sure the
Panthers wanted him. I'm sure it was a coincidence bone
that it was his turn up to do a presser
yesterday after.

Speaker 1 (27:40):
Getting ejected on Friday.

Speaker 2 (27:42):
I'm sure the Panthers wanted him to go clear the air,
and he was apologetic and contrite, and again we move
on like yesterday was a day to say, hey, if
you're you're a damn knucklehead, what were you thinking? But
we move on and it doesn't have to be a
huge deal moving forward as long as he learns from it.

Speaker 1 (27:59):
It sounds like he did this.

Speaker 2 (28:00):
This is the I basically edited all the questions together
bone that pertain to the Friday night incident.

Speaker 1 (28:07):
So listen to this.

Speaker 5 (28:09):
You looked pretty active out there today. Coach was talking
about you had fresh flags, just were feeling a little
something to prove after what happened on Friday night.

Speaker 3 (28:19):
Or I'm just trying to go out there and do
my job.

Speaker 6 (28:22):
Man, That's what did coach talk to you about after
the game?

Speaker 7 (28:27):
Might just keep the mind thying and mind thying that's about.
I know I was supposed to do what I did.
I'm going to delete that on the fields.

Speaker 2 (28:35):
Just a situation where your emotions.

Speaker 7 (28:37):
Got the best of you, something like that.

Speaker 3 (28:44):
What happened, Oh man, it was just there's a little
song that help man. That's how it was. In the
moments after. I mean even in the locker room.

Speaker 1 (28:55):
I assume that's where you.

Speaker 5 (28:57):
Were when you apologize to the fan base.

Speaker 7 (28:59):
What were those moments for you after you left the
game and you were just had him over to think
about what happened. Oh, man, it was just something that
I shouldn't have did and that ain't supposed to have
him in a football guy and say, I felt like
I owed the fans of a pallage. Have you ever
been a checked before that my first time over?

Speaker 1 (29:17):
Was it kind of were you kind of disbelief that
it was even happening.

Speaker 3 (29:20):
In the moment? No, I wasn't in his relief.

Speaker 7 (29:22):
I knew what was going on.

Speaker 1 (29:24):
What they ain't supposed to. Hell, I mean he obviously
you thought across the line physically.

Speaker 3 (29:31):
Did he say anything that across the line? He ain't
say nothing. Oh, we ain't have no exchange of words.
It was just well, hell.

Speaker 5 (29:39):
There, I know he was the same guy who threw
a ball at youa during the practice.

Speaker 3 (29:45):
Was there any carryover for that or was this you
know he did it?

Speaker 5 (29:49):
Yeah, we saw videos that you trained with boxing during
the off season. Not to say that came into playoff
the field, but can you can you talk about why
you you trained with the boxing.

Speaker 1 (30:00):
And that's just for cardial.

Speaker 3 (30:02):
Yeah, that's just for the cardial. That's all that for.

Speaker 5 (30:05):
Yeah, did those natural instincts come out there on the field.

Speaker 1 (30:11):
I guess you'd say that.

Speaker 5 (30:14):
Te Max said that you guys had a lot of
conversations about.

Speaker 7 (30:17):
Your midwork se might you know he do a little
bit of buzz and then all seasons he could throw too.

Speaker 1 (30:23):
Are you anticipating taking a hit in the wallet? But
they tem me?

Speaker 7 (30:30):
But when I walked in the morning night, hey nothing,
But I mean I'm looking for it.

Speaker 1 (30:36):
Will that kind of be a deterrent for next time?

Speaker 3 (30:40):
Oh? Yeah, I won't.

Speaker 1 (30:42):
I won't put a final. It's so many questions about it.

Speaker 2 (30:47):
It was like he was on a true crime show
and he was getting he was getting questioned about his
whereabouts of a crime. His if he didn't know what
was going on, you'd be, oh my god, what did
he do? His answers were hilarious too, man, just the
whole I mean, he is just the only time he's
not funny is if he's messing up on the football field.
All right, that's the only time it's not fun But
just the way he carries himself in every even that

(31:08):
situation was just hilarious. Some of his answers, he kind
of he didn't really want to. That's the reason we
put it all together.

Speaker 1 (31:15):
It's like he.

Speaker 2 (31:16):
Didn't really want to expand past about five seconds on
any answer. David Newton wanted to note your natural boxing
instinct takeover, and he had to laugh at that question.

Speaker 1 (31:27):
He's have you ever bitten a man's ear?

Speaker 2 (31:29):
It had the vibe of a kid that gets caught
by his parents doing something.

Speaker 1 (31:34):
It was very sheepish.

Speaker 2 (31:35):
He was here seepish reaction. I think Sheena asked. I
think it was Sheena. Have you been thrown out of
a game before? Now? That was my first time? Just
so matter of fact about it. Oh my, that was
a lot he got. He got the firing life.

Speaker 1 (31:50):
They weren't all in order. I made them all in order.

Speaker 2 (31:53):
At one point, she in a quick says all right,
let's move on from Friday Night, almost like she was
this pr person, and then David Newton brought it right
back to Friday Night. Later on in Depressor, Backstrap Jones,
one of my favorite Texter names, says, I swear I
could see him smiling even on Ready, the Newton question
cracked him up. Did your bachel boxing instincts take over?

(32:14):
Let's see here, Picante Bop says he's my favorite player.
He's got that swagger. Listen, I will say this, and
maybe this is what the textures are trying to say.
Yesterday when they were defending xcel I, he showed a
side of him on Friday that we don't often see.
We often see the kind of fun side, the silly
side of Xavier league get he showed that feisty, fiery

(32:38):
side of him, right, that dog sidelum. So I will
concede that sort of thing, and I would think he
probably learned a lesson from this. His physicality also caused
the whole thing too. That gets lost in the in
the in the swinging of fists here, But his blocking
and tacking the guy off is what caused the whole thing,
which is which is a bright as a good sign

(32:59):
of his physical and ability to block.

Speaker 1 (33:01):
So that started the whole thing. Oh, very willing, very
willing blocker.

Speaker 2 (33:03):
And he has to do stuff like that right now
because the number one storyline moving forward with him is
where you know, does he hold on to that spot
in the top three wide receivers. Is Jalen Cocher about
to snatch it from him? Multiple Texters TFB seven O
four number both saying, let's face it, Xavier league Get
is the fourth wide receiver on this team. And that's

(33:26):
a conversation Bone that we're gonna have later. Is is
the is your kind of projected pecking order for who
gets the most yards and targets?

Speaker 1 (33:35):
Is that?

Speaker 2 (33:35):
Is Jalen Cocher changing that? Because I think a lot
of fans are starting to feel that way.

Speaker 1 (33:40):
Very fair, very fair question. When we come back.

Speaker 2 (33:43):
Bobby Brown a man we're excited to watch more and
more play next to Derek Brown. He will join us
next on Sports Radio ninety two seven WFNZ. We are
live from Panthers camp for the Camp Spectacular, Part two
on the Mack and Bone Out.

Speaker 1 (34:13):
No Money.

Speaker 2 (34:14):
It is the Back and Bone Show Live Sports Radio
ninety two seven WFNZ as we broadcast live from Panther
training camp. Our next guest was pretty damn active the
other night in the first preseason game UH five Pressurescording
to PFF, he was wreaking, hav itreaking having in the
backfield a run game, big tackle, for loss. That's what
they brought him here to do. From the Rams, he

(34:35):
is defensive tackle. Bobby Brown, Bobby, what's going on? Man?

Speaker 1 (34:38):
How you doing?

Speaker 3 (34:39):
I'm doing good man that much.

Speaker 1 (34:41):
So you you.

Speaker 2 (34:42):
Came here and you actually, I think said something like
this when you got here or whatever. But like you
came here and for all of us were like, oh
this he's a big run stuff or he's gonna occupy blockers.
He's gonna stuff the run. And I feel like you said,
hold on, now, I can do a little bit more
than that. And that's you did it all on Friday nights.
You feel like that's something that that you can do

(35:03):
more than maybe the fans and media realize.

Speaker 3 (35:06):
Yes, so I do. I've been feeling like that in
my whole career even since. And but I just do
what I'm asked. And you know, whenever my opportunity is given,
like I just take advantage of a Friday next time,
got to cash in on them sacks instead of precious Yeah.

Speaker 2 (35:19):
Yeah, Now you got a chance to play for a
long time with one of the all time greats and
Aaron Donald. Now you come with you play with Derek Brown,
who we can't wait to see back this year. How
excited are you to play with dB after so many
years with with Aaron Donald.

Speaker 3 (35:34):
Man, it's it's exciting to be able to play next
to somebody that kind of like plays alike, like you know,
that aggressive game and everything. Because like, don't get me wrong,
AD's greatest ever, like, but he played for next and
strength everything like. But to be able to play next
to a guy that I know is a big bruiser
like me, it's gonna play hardest. It's a little comfort there.

Speaker 1 (35:54):
By the way. You didn't do the knife training, did you.

Speaker 2 (35:56):
That's what I was was that crazy stuff?

Speaker 1 (35:59):
Man? He little a little little nutty.

Speaker 3 (36:02):
Yeah, he just uh, he didn't take his medicine and stuff.

Speaker 1 (36:04):
You no knife training for Derek Brown.

Speaker 3 (36:08):
No little burger training.

Speaker 1 (36:10):
But oh man, he's coming up later. I think that's true.
We'll pass that along.

Speaker 2 (36:19):
It seems like you guys, though not just on the field,
we haven't really seen you enough together. Hopefully dB will
play this week and we'll see you in a game together.
But like it seems like off the field, y'all have
struck up a relationship. You said, there's a whole meat
the Browns thing. You're trying to fall the defensive line.
Like it seems like y'all are hitting it off.

Speaker 3 (36:36):
Yeah, so we are everybody, man, It's just it's real
family oriented in player lid. It's it's fun and it's competitive,
like love to be here.

Speaker 2 (36:43):
And you played two years with a Sean right in La.
I'm not gonna lie to you. He kind of scares
us a little bit sometimes we see him. Is he
what's he like to play with? And outsited or you
to play.

Speaker 1 (36:53):
With him again?

Speaker 3 (36:54):
Mand, I mean a Shawan is a great guy to
play with. Oh that sounds crazy, like.

Speaker 1 (37:02):
It was fun all the time on.

Speaker 3 (37:07):
It was. It was fun those two years to be
played be able to play alongside a Shan. Man, you know,
he's a different cat. But like one thing you know
is uh, it's always gonna be loved from Ashn's side. Man,
Like on the field. Off the field, he gonna push you.
He gonna push you further than what you think you
could do, because shoot, he pushed yourself, he demanded of himself,
so of course he gonna demand it the you too.

Speaker 2 (37:25):
So you you've heard, I'm sure all you've gotten all
the questions about last year's defense and the run defense.

Speaker 1 (37:32):
Is that something that y'all take like personal? Do you
take it personal? Like I don't.

Speaker 2 (37:37):
I don't want to be a part of something that
struggles like that. Do you guys that were here last
year kind of take it personal? Or or or is
that not really talked about the way we all talk
about it?

Speaker 3 (37:47):
Well, like me personally, because I mean, I asked me
this question, so I'm to answer the person like me personally, like,
of course, I don't want to be have my name
and testing nothing bad, like I don't think anybody does.
I wouldn't want to be the last podcast. But the
end of the day is like last year, last year,
Like y'all don't say the Eagles is the champions anymore.
Y'all say the reigning champions because they're not the champions anymore.

(38:08):
Since new year, new mindset, new team, new schemes. So
it's like you can't worry about the old things from
last year. All you can do is take the steps
today to be better.

Speaker 2 (38:17):
We saw Rob Hunt bragging about his basketball game recently.
I know you're kind of new to him in terms
of a teammate, but are you buying that he's this
great basketball player?

Speaker 3 (38:27):
He's been bragging about. I mean, I'll take nothing from
nobody else on the court. Man, Most most football guys
are just too short to play basketball and too wide too.
So you know.

Speaker 2 (38:38):
Now you at a wrestling background in high school, right, yes, sir?
How does that help you and what you're doing now
in the pros?

Speaker 3 (38:45):
Being able to just have a body control, hand placement,
you know, just knowing different pressure points of the body,
how to get all on and off blocks and just
not being on the ground is just and having that
tenacity to not lose, that mindset to not lose, whether
if it's one guy to whatever, and just I'm not
gonna lose.

Speaker 2 (39:01):
So you were in your rookie year zero Vero right
was on the staff with the Rams, Yes, sir, So
you know, and the.

Speaker 1 (39:08):
Scheme there is very similar to what you're doing here.
Talk a little bit about the scheme.

Speaker 2 (39:12):
We'll get fans that because last year was going bad
like statistically, that we'll try to in question. I don't
know about this scheme, I don't know about the three four.
What do you like about this scheme? Obviously y'all had
a lot of success with it in LA. It worked
for him his first year here, it worked for him
in Denver. What do you tell fans what this scheme

(39:33):
is all about and what you.

Speaker 3 (39:34):
Like about it? I would say the scheme is all
about as long as you got the guys up front
that's able to take on blocks, play blocks and not
get moved, you know what I'm saying. And then you
got your linebackers that feel and be able to play
their gaps and fall back in know their assignments. This
scheme works for any and everybody. You just got to
play hard and play together.

Speaker 7 (39:50):
You know.

Speaker 3 (39:51):
That's it.

Speaker 2 (39:52):
Have you had any time to kind of explore Charlotte
at all? I know it's it's young end of the season,
but have you been out it all?

Speaker 3 (39:57):
No, not at all. Not for on the place them
into the stake. Fortier and Firebirds.

Speaker 1 (40:05):
Two good places to be right there. It was the
call next time, all right?

Speaker 3 (40:11):
Man.

Speaker 2 (40:11):
Well, hey, good to meet you. We can't wait to
see you play in regular season games for this team.
Welcome to Charlotte and thanks for joining us, Bobby.

Speaker 3 (40:18):
Thanks so much.

Speaker 2 (40:20):
There you go, Bobby Brown, brand new nose tackle for
your Carolina Panthers. And one of the things that I've
noticed bone is the way and uh and I'm sure
we'll talk about with Derek Brown, with Trayvon may Rig,
Trevin Wallace. We've got a lot of defensive guys coming
up uh here from training camp with us. But the
way they talk about the personnel upfront on defense, they're

(40:44):
not slandering the guys that were here that had to
play last year when Brown was hurt.

Speaker 1 (40:50):
But you can tell that.

Speaker 2 (40:52):
They firmly believe there is a major upgrade up front.

Speaker 1 (40:56):
Those interior spots, man.

Speaker 2 (40:58):
I think they viewed themselves as a construction crew that
has to come in and try to rebuild this thing,
and they know how bad it was, and they have
a job to do. This isn't coming in here to
try to keep something going. It's rebuilding something that was
awful last year. So they all know they have a
job to do. Someone asked Mac, why did Bobby Brown
come on first? I told the guy it was my prerogative.

(41:23):
There you go, baby, there you go. You think there's
people too young to get that joke, though, listen, I
think so.

Speaker 1 (41:30):
My prerogative. I do what I want. I love that
jam back. And then you have mister telephone man. Also
that was new edition.

Speaker 2 (41:37):
Okay, here's a part of yeah, obviously, But anyway, that
was before we knew who the real Bobby Brown, you
know what I mean? Yes, that was this Bobby Brown
though with this Bobby Brown clean man and fun.

Speaker 1 (41:48):
Also didn't have a whole lot of clothes on when
he talked to us.

Speaker 2 (41:51):
No, he comes out because we did that when yesterday
we were here doing some of these interviews post practice
and he came out post practice and they got they
got rainso coming in so that might have played a
role in this. He just took everything off except his bretches.

Speaker 1 (42:07):
I mean, that was all that was on. He just
walks on in here shirtless.

Speaker 2 (42:10):
We went Tarf's off for that interview. I thought Mac
tried to take his off. No, no, no, you he
looked like me on the couch man. That's the way
I sit on the couch. But Bobby Brown's got some personality.
I hopefully you could tell it there. Him and Nick
Gorton were dancing on the field before a series started
the other night. They were just both out there just dancing,
So there's some personality. Hopefully bone this run defense will

(42:33):
be as improved as we think it was and the
dancing can continue because the only dancing. Last year when
our defense was on the field was opposing running backs
through the defense. That was it. So hopefully we'll still
be dancing once this season goes. Run defense has to
be a lot better. Man, But Bucky ever did the

(42:53):
chashaw slide the defense multiple times. And we need another
man to dance more next year too, not just the players.
Man here needs to dance one. That's true. That's true.
Y'all need to dance more. This town's been done shut down.
This town's been shut down from dancing.

Speaker 1 (43:07):
I am thinner. I am thinner now. But that didn't
help me last year, did it. I had lost weight
last year and I still got tired after twelve seconds? City.
Are you in dancing shape from it? Are you in dance?

Speaker 2 (43:16):
You?

Speaker 1 (43:16):
Kind of you?

Speaker 3 (43:17):
Kind of? You know?

Speaker 1 (43:18):
We were you crashed out last year a couple of times?
Are you ready to go? Or what's going on with
you right now?

Speaker 6 (43:23):
I'm always ready to butter churn. I mean I buttered
churn them the day after we threw away the cowboy gear.
That's all I bring to the table anyway. But I
would say no, guys, because I had a heat stroke
in the shower last night.

Speaker 1 (43:34):
Sorry, Yeah, yeah, I don't. That's kind of why he
means like a medical situation. Was I get to graphic?

Speaker 3 (43:40):
Hear? Go ahead?

Speaker 1 (43:41):
Stop that heat stroking the shower? Yeah it was. It
was not a good scene. You should be checked out
by a doctor. It's good, we have one here. Yeah,
I have a seat.

Speaker 2 (43:50):
Also, did you perhaps think about turning the water temperature down?

Speaker 3 (43:54):
No?

Speaker 6 (43:55):
Instead, I just opened the shower curtains, took my head
outside to get some pressure cool.

Speaker 2 (44:00):
You control this situation, yeah, you do kind of control
how warm it is, how warm the water is, sir.

Speaker 1 (44:08):
Oh my god, I believe you do?

Speaker 3 (44:10):
You do?

Speaker 2 (44:10):
You know what, You're still a cowboy fan. After this moment,
I realized you a cowboy fan. Ain't out of you yet,
you know, you realize that there's multiple temperatures you can
have on there. I just all the way to the hot,
all the way all the way every time, every time.
But you do realize you wouldn't have any heat issues
if you just turned it back a little to left,
little bit, just a little.

Speaker 6 (44:29):
Yeah, but I couldn't. I couldn't reach. Like I was
like standing in the shower like leaning, and I was
just like panting like a dolt.

Speaker 2 (44:35):
I'm very I'm telling you your IQ is not up
to non Panther fan status yet. It takes some time
when you leave what non caw I just mess up,
not non cowboy fan status.

Speaker 1 (44:45):
It takes some time when you leave the Cowboys.

Speaker 2 (44:47):
Your IQ has to go from negative sixty back to
a normal human IQ, and yours is still in the negatives.

Speaker 1 (44:52):
That's gonna work with you. This is the dumbest thing
I've ever heard in my life. All Right, the heat
shrunk in there. I couldn't reach the I couldn't reach
the knob that turned the hot water down. I am
I working on to be fair, Mack.

Speaker 2 (45:03):
He needs to be a situation where cold water is available.
Oh dear god, I thought my doctor situation was done.

Speaker 1 (45:12):
All right.

Speaker 2 (45:13):
I thought I was helpless. My wife tells me I'm helpless,
which I am. But someone says, takes the cake. Maybe
he was crying in the shower. Did the Mets playoffs?

Speaker 1 (45:20):
They did not. They did not Met's braves tonight. Oh god,
that could be ugly. Do we have to watch that?

Speaker 2 (45:27):
Uh no, I'll answer that right now. All right, We're
gonna take a breather. We are live at Panther Camp. Uh,
Mac and Bone with you. We're in what we are
calling the Suck Up Sweet Trophy. Husband doesn't like our
suck Up Sweet name, but that's what somebody dubbed it.

Speaker 1 (45:40):
Here we have rolled with it. We are indoors inside
the stadium and yet another rainy day.

Speaker 2 (45:44):
When we come back, you're gonna hear from a Charlotte
native and the Panther starting left tackle, Icky Ikuan, who
joins us next right here Live from Panther Camp.

Speaker 1 (45:53):
It is Mac and Bone on w f Z
