In the third hour, the guys are joined by Lee Sterling, who makes his picks for a loaded football weekend, Mac & Bone tell you why or why not, they are Panthering Up this week against the Patriots, and they do a local edition of college football confidence

most totally about all the local squads playing this weekend State,
Virginia Tech, South Carolina, Kentucky, Duke, Syracuse, Wake Forest, Georgia Tech.

So far, Bone, we have had tex from Clemson fans
from at least one of all these fan bases, Clemson, Charlotte,
North Carolina, all sarcastically commenting on the fact they have
a bye week and thank God because we can't lose.

Yeah, there's a run on the same joke going on
right now. You all need a rest man.

Were wondering if the Panthers think XAL needs a rest bone.
Every one of you fan base is just mentioned. Y'all
need a breather man. Watch some football games that don't
involve your team. On Saturday, we'll also update the Ryder
Cup as well, and are we gonna Panther up or not.

on the Mac and Bone shown. We want your feedback

panther thing, Bone to get us excited, shut out, win,

Lee called it the Panthers wrong team favorite. He said,
straight up, the Panthers beat the Falcons, and they went
out there and they did it. Bone, you and I
didn't even believe that our Panthers were going to beat
the Falcons last week. And Lee Sterling is with us
now to handicap games for US Collegen Pro and break
them down and give us this week's pick on the Panthers.

Let's see what you think about some of these games,
and we'll end it as always with the Panthers pick.

And he's got a Game of the Week. He's got that.

Speaker 3 (03:25):
Michael Parsons Bowl Packers and Cowboys as his game of
the week. Let's start with Duke and Syracuse. Interesting game.
Syracuse off this big win against Clemson. They're at home
against Duke, but Syracuse has a backup quarterback in there,
and Duke is a five point favorite.

What do you think?

Speaker 2 (03:42):
Well, Duke likes to throw the football and Syracuse can't
defend the pass. In fact, third to last out of
one hundred and I think it's now thirty four teens,
so they're only one hundred and thirty first. So horrible
match up here, Syracuse loss. They're starting quarterback for the year.
New starter Ricky Collins has attempted only twenty one passes

in three seasons. I love fran Brown. I think he
does a lot more with less. He seems to be ascending,
but I don't think he's going to be an Upstate
New York for long. Here Duke thirty seven to twenty seven.

Do you think he's also a good start? Lee, I'll

what do you think of Georgia Bama in a massive
game in prime time tomorrow night? Georgia at home, favored
by three? What's the play here?

So Georgia I don't think is near where they were
a couple of years ago. The point spreads will tell
you so. Since the first game of last year, they're
three twelve and one against the spread. Not good enough.
They did beat Tennessee, but I thought Tennessee was the
better team a couple weeks ago. There was just six
or seven plays in that game. Just one of them

goes Tennessee's way they win the game. So sometimes just
not your day. I think most people thought this line
was going to be three and a half four, But
I think people who wagering games are smart. The oddsmakers
set in these lines. I think they realized that maybe
it was an aberration that Alabama gave up two hundred
and thirty yards Tefeshu opening week. Running the football, I

do think that Alabama's trio receivers, which are I think
second best in the country, just behind Ohio State are
going to do some damage on this Georgia defense here.
And I think this Georgia defense that's allowing just two
point seven yards for Kerry, they're going to be tested
also because Jan Miller's coming back for Alabama favored and

an Alcola fantastic finish again Alabama twenty eight, twenty seven?

Another big one in the SEC League, all Miss one
and a half point favorite at home against LA What

I think ole Miss's offense is really good, and you know,
sometimes what happens is you lose the key player and
find one maybe even better. I think Trinidad Chambliss right
now is better in the right answer instead of Austin Simmons.
So Austin Simmons h two games, he had two interceptions
in Sheach and Trinity Shamlis running the football and throwing

the football from FIRIS State is a winner. The only
thing is he's a senior, so no more eligibility after
this year. But the problem here for them is their
weakest link. I think ole Missus defense is the strongest
of the four units, but LSU's defense in and far behind,
and I think Yourttnsmeyer is going to have a big game.

This will be his breakout game against the weakest link here,
which is Ole Missus defense. And I don't trust line
Kiffin big games. He seems to try to really push
it here, and what he tries to do is sometimes
he falls behind by seven to ten points, he starts
going forward on fourth down. Could be a problem here.
I think class finally prevails LSU thirty four to twenty eight.

Lee. Let's go over some NFL games here, a big
one in the NFC Eagles three and a half way
favorites at Tampa Bay. Tampa Bay's all kinds of banged
up right now. What side are you on here?

Speaker 2 (07:20):
Yeah? So Tampa Bay's won six of the last seven
games against Philly, which is shocking. They won last year
thirty three sixteen. This will be the fifth straight time
that they played that the game has been in Tampa
So sometimes the scheduling dynamics are just strange. And last
year's game when Tampa won thirty three sixteen, no DeVonta Smith,

no AJ Brown. Now you know the wheels have turned,
and no Mike Evans, no Chris Godwin. Yet this year
the offensive line really banged up defensive line not close
to one hundred percent, and Philly just might be one
of those teams like Kansas City for a while. I
think they're gonna have trouble winning the super Bowl again,

but they're finding ways to win, and championship teams do that.
And I just think Baker Mayfield. We've heard of quarterbacks
having three straight great come from behind wins, but usually
not four. I think he's going to run out of
magic here, Philly twenty eight, twenty.

Last week? You picked the Panthers as a dog outright.
They're a five and a half point dog at New England.

Carolina got the job done for me last week? Thirty
nothing home division win. I thought they'd win, but not
by that much. How did they do it? You know?
Touchdown drive on a short field after a miss field goal,
field goal, eleven yard interception, TD return field goal, touchdown
after interception in field goal. Only two hundred and twenty

The Patriots had their own issue and they're twenty one
to fourteen loss to Pittsburgh due to a large part
a wopping five turnovers. So even with all that misfortune,
Patriots were tied with three minutes to go in the game.
The Patriots have a top three rushing defense and a

weakness in their past defense, and the Panthers, I don't
know if they can exploit it here, Bryce Young sixty
percent completion percentage is decent enough, but just five point
three yards per attempt not going to get it done.
This will be Carolina's third road trip in an early
four weeks season span. They lost both road games so far.

I think this team is the real deal. They impressed

of him coming out here and doing the airplane and
you know, hitting the CAM. So just a little things
like that, and getting to know him later on and
playing him he coaches seven on seventeen and playing him
and playing against him and seeing stuff like that. So

been pretty cool.

Do we not panther up? The superstitious guy in me says,
I should probably pick against the Panthers because last week
I picked against the Panthers and they won. But I
try to beat genuine like, do I honestly think they're
gonna win the game?

Last week? I was a dummy. I didn't.

Speaker 3 (20:28):
I was scared of that blitz and that blitz did nothing,
old blitz. This game is so winnable, Bone, this game
is so winnable. I mean you look at the Patriots
had needed a late touchdown to beat Miami. As bad
as they are, they're owing to at home already. They
lost to the Raiders at home, had five turnovers last week. Uh,

this is a team, Bone, who does get Gonzales back,
But there's a bunch of coverage guys that will still
have to cover Panther players, those linebackers, the other corners
that have been struggling. Something fears this The team has
been committing penalties. This team has been turning the football
over bone. Their running game is so so, this game
is so winnable.

Speaker 1 (21:10):
What are you thinking about this one? Bone? I was
a little.

Speaker 4 (21:13):
Nervous when the day started, and then the more I
thought about it, the more we talked through it, the
more I went at the Patriots roster. I don't have
really much fear of anything that they do. Yeah, the
run defense is really good, but I don't have a
fear of the Patriots. I think the Panthers make it
back to back victories. I'm panthering up, man, Now you go,
Bony panthering up, baby, I'm gonna go. I'm gonna go.

Not a pretty win. I think there's gonna be mistakes
abound on both sides. I think there's gonna be some penalties,
some turnovers. I need the Patriots Mack trying to muck
it up a little bit at times in the Vray
Bowl mindset. I think the Panthers win twenty one to
sixteen sixteen. I could see that kind of range of scoring.

I think it could be. This is not gonna be
a game. I don't think either team's hitting the deep
twenties in this game. Do you what are you gonna
knowing gets mad when you picked the Panthers bone but
you were with me last week? Or because my nickname
with many is the trusted source? What's my nickname? Oh,

The thing is, I could see either way, like this
is really a fitty and I were talking about this
during one of the breaks, like if they lose this game,
it feels like, oh, typical Panthers, right, Like they could
not follow up. They couldn't deal with their prosperity of
the one big win. They couldn't follow it up. Like
I mentioned that the season two years ago when or

no last year when we won Week three with Dalton
and then made it one to two and then proceeded
to lose the next five, Like they have a chance,
And I guess you could put it in your words,
they have a chance this week, Fitty, maybe to prove
that maybe things are different, Maybe we have taken a
step because the old Panthers would probably regress immediately and
lose this game.

that he thought this was the most important game of
Bryce Shunk's career.

So we had a caller on Monday say he thought
this was the biggest game of Bryce Shunk's career. And
at the moment that sounded hyperbolic. But as this week
moved along, and as I spent some time during my
vacation thinking about the Panthers, I thought that guy was
right as someone that believes that this team could win
