Speaker 1 (00:03):
Oh oh, and Mack and Bow on your radio. If
you listen to my frame back, Posh, Come on, posh,
listen to my frem team Bone.
Speaker 2 (00:13):
What's up the fun?
Speaker 3 (00:14):
I can't go to work without listening to the Mac
and Bones do a lot.
Speaker 4 (00:27):
Come on, I will see how I go. This literally
my first day after so you know, well, I know
my body. I know my body react and and it
goes quick, so I can be ready to anybody goes
the right way. Can you ready body?
Speaker 2 (00:41):
Whenever?
Speaker 4 (00:41):
That?
Speaker 5 (00:41):
Okay?
Speaker 2 (00:42):
Hey, but I could be ready someone anybody to take her.
Speaker 4 (00:44):
My body goes right by.
Speaker 2 (00:45):
I know my body just need nothing.
Speaker 3 (00:47):
Man.
Speaker 4 (00:47):
It's like the Carson and Rody is pulling fu God,
damn go to Riley.
Speaker 2 (00:51):
You might take it down here to the harrit heels.
Speaker 6 (00:53):
You ain't gonna go to Riley with. So that's that's
how it.
Speaker 1 (00:56):
Is, Rob.
Speaker 7 (00:58):
I hope you can hear that. Okay, that was him
last week. He was you know, his twenty one day
window to return was opened up and didn't make it.
He was questionable bone on Friday, and then Saturday they
made the decision we're not activating him yet.
Speaker 2 (01:15):
I am hopeful that he can get out there.
Speaker 7 (01:17):
But we got a text from a guy bone that
had the same injury right around the same time as him,
said he literally just started being able to lift ten pounds,
oh wow, and Hunt would be asked to lift three
hundred fifty pounds of a yeah, exactly.
Speaker 2 (01:30):
So I don't know. I don't know what to think
about it.
Speaker 7 (01:32):
He is a professional athlete and our man that was
texting is it?
Speaker 2 (01:37):
So I don't know what to think of it.
Speaker 7 (01:39):
But I know that quote right there is amazing about
you get the car out of the shop.
Speaker 2 (01:43):
You don't take it to Raleigh right away? All right?
You get it, You drive it down to the Harris team.
If anybody we're going to rally him back in the
same everybody knows.
Speaker 8 (01:50):
About Raleigh and then going to Harris teater, it's probably me.
The Charlotte Comfort Systems temperature right now sixty degrees prevent
heating system failures during this holiday time? Is it Charlotte
Comfort Systems dot Com? You think Mack in the post
games that we don't hear after wats is Canalis has
the same tone, but he reads off the bat stats
rise out of fifty four?
Speaker 2 (02:13):
What would we get out yesterday?
Speaker 5 (02:15):
A penalty, He didn't know where to wind up. He
had more penny yards than receiving yards.
Speaker 2 (02:25):
God, he is so bad.
Speaker 7 (02:29):
Yeah, I know, Zokie says, man, he's raw still, But
how long we go away for his dude to be wrong?
Speaker 2 (02:35):
Is he really all?
Speaker 5 (02:36):
He played five years of college freaking football man?
Speaker 7 (02:39):
Or is he just never going to be a football player?
Some athlete, Not every athlete can be a great football player.
Is he that sort of guy? Great, big body, speed,
but you're just not football play material. That's that's my
fear with him. By the way, Greig May had five
touchdown passes. We get at three yards receiving again. Uh, Anyway,
(03:00):
in fairness, the rest of the team only had fifty one.
Team Mac beat him by two yards bone in fairness,
but t Mac was sick. Apparently we're all sick yesterday
back the whole offense was sick, the passing game especially sick.
Speaker 2 (03:15):
Uh.
Speaker 7 (03:15):
So let's talk about this offense all right. And by
the way, we will do the Pulse of panther Nation
coming up in a twenty five, which is when I
want to know, do you feel defeated in it?
Speaker 2 (03:25):
Do you feel angry today?
Speaker 7 (03:27):
Or do you still have a positive outlook towards Saturday's
game at four point thirty in Tampa. We'll talk about
that coming up in eight twenty five, But right now, Bone,
let's talk about the Offense's what's the problem with this offense?
Why is it so easy?
Speaker 2 (03:41):
Now?
Speaker 7 (03:41):
Some people are texting in that Bryce never throws the
ball downfield, and that's complete hot garbage. He is he
He hit downfield pass against Tampa that were huge, hit
downfield passes against LA that were huge New Orleans. He
honestly is one of the most efficient downfield passes in
(04:02):
the NFL passers in the NFL. The problem is, in
my opinion, Bone, these games where teams so clearly say
we ain't gonna let.
Speaker 2 (04:11):
You throw it down there.
Speaker 7 (04:12):
Yea New Orleans at home San fran and then yesterday
it just feels like we have no answer. He has
no answer, Canalis has no answer. What's so like, what's
the biggest issue with this offense?
Speaker 2 (04:26):
Like?
Speaker 8 (04:26):
What needs to be changed moving forward? I think there's
two things that stand out to me. Number One, we
talk about it often. There's gotta be more guys to
make plays. Lee gets out there. I don't just want
to put it all on him, but he's just taking
up space. You can't have a first round pick Mac
that's out there to be like a blocking tight end. Basically,
Ta mag wasn't himself yesterday, but you need more. The
(04:47):
pass catching tight ends aren't exactly like dependable yet. I
do like the Trio in their roles, but they're not
exactly like chain movers. They need more chain movers. And
I feel like when things go bad, and I don't
know if you agreed this or not, but I feel
like when things go bad, can now was when it's
going well, has that aggressive mindset right. He's going for
(05:08):
it a lot, He's taking chances. I feel like if
things don't go well early, he kind of shells up
and they go more conservative and they don't take a
lot of chances. And I feel yesterday now credit to
Seattle because there are tough defense, but I feel like
yesterday things were going well early and they got really conservative.
And it might be because there was no playmakers, but
I feel like when things are bad, Dave lose faith
(05:30):
in the aggressiveness of throw the ball down field.
Speaker 7 (05:31):
Here's my question. Were we trying to throw it short
or were plays designed? Dave says, we had plays designed
to throw the ball down field.
Speaker 2 (05:40):
They took that away.
Speaker 7 (05:41):
Bryce had to take checkdowns, and they were amazing at
tackling our checkdown guys like usually Rico and Chewba are
able to make a single guy miss and get yards
on those.
Speaker 8 (05:51):
That wasn't happening yesterday at all. I just that's my question.
I think it was being played everything yesterday was east west.
There was not very much north south whatsoever.
Speaker 7 (06:01):
So, like, I don't know, was that conservative or was
that Bryce not wanting to throw it into downfield coverage
because he thinks it's going to get picked. I know
he got one picked on a bad throw, But was
he just taking what the defense was giving him? Like
that's that I don't necessarily know if it was conservative,
If it was, you know, that sort of game. It's
(06:22):
just you've got to be able to figure out these
defenses that are making it a point. Like I heard
Trevor sikhm a talking bone weeks ago. But the way
New Orleans played us in the first game, taking everything
ten yards or more away, tackling underneath, feels like that's
what Seattle did. Feels like San Francisco did something like that.
So it's just like, why can't we combat these looks?
(06:43):
Panther Bo says nobody was open.
Speaker 2 (06:45):
I don't.
Speaker 7 (06:45):
I was being at the game. I don't think they
were guys open a lot. And I think when guys
would pop open, Bryce then was under pressure on some
of those plays. There was a team AC one late
in the game where Team Mac broke for and then
oh there's Mafey sacking Bryce. Like I just I think
it's all these different parts working together to create just
(07:09):
an embarrassing passing game. I think they need that personnel
in the passing game. I think there needs to be
a receiver add it to the mix. I think there
needs to be I would not mind a tight end
that is more of a legit pass catcher. I'm a
little disillusioned with Sanders. I feel bad for him with
the broken ankle yesterday bone, but I don't think he
(07:30):
has had a season at all. That is that is
you and I were two of his biggest supporters for
the season. I have a feeling we're both abandoning that bandwagon. Yeah,
I was not was not what I expected.
Speaker 8 (07:39):
And by the way, Mac, Bryce has ten interceptions on
the year, and to show you mag the difference in
when they don't turn it over. He's got three I
in t's and their eight wins his seven. The other
seven I in ts are all in the losses. So
when he throws those interceptions more times than not, they're
losing the football game. Only three I in ts in
their wins this year. Yeah, so when he holds onto
the football, there's a correlation that the offense is usually
(08:02):
doing something right that day death.
Speaker 7 (08:04):
Oh there's no yeah, there's no doubt about it, no
doubt about it. I think the offense just sucks. That's
from Joby Joel. All right, Jobby Joe with a breakdown.
They did. One thing that does inspire little confidence is
Rico Daldell ran for four point nine yards of carry
a couple of those outside runs.
Speaker 2 (08:20):
Well, you had a nine yard are up the gun.
Speaker 7 (08:21):
It wasn't anything huge, but he had been a guy
bone that had been averaging two points something for basically
the last five weeks. So I like that's notable. Maybe
we can get the run game going. You know, Tampa
Bone got run all over by the Dolphins yesterday. Maybe
we can get the run game going and play the
passing play action game off of that against the Bucks.
The Bucks defense is so infurious Seattle. See part of
(08:44):
this too is Seattle's defense is really freaking good. That's
a big part of this as well. But you've got
to be able to get to the point like we're
getting better Bone, But this offense, I mean, the offensive
numbers have gone down points per game.
Speaker 2 (08:58):
KB was talking about it last week.
Speaker 7 (09:02):
A lot of people saying Dave Canals as a play caller,
I'm not gonna if Dave Canals gives up play calling.
I'm certainly not gonna kick and scream no, don't do it, Dave,
don't do it. I do think there's still an element
of him learning, and I think there's still an element
of needing a couple more pass catchers. But some of
you are saying Bryce Young ain't good enough. And when
(09:23):
he sits here and throws for fifty four yards, this
dude says he's all too willing to take the checkdown.
Another Texas says mac a bigger armed quarterback would sling
it in there. He doesn't trust his arm, so he
takes a checkdown, And maybe there's maybe a little truth
in that too. I think Bryce is the guy Bone
for next year, but I do think he has been
(09:44):
so inconsistent, even with the five game stretch he had
prior to this, that I still think that they are
evaluating him next year and as we keep growing, and
I think we need to add to the personnel on
defense a bit too, Bony. I would love a big
move for an edge rusher, put him on the other
side of court and really have something. But I still
I think they're gonna get to a point. I think
(10:04):
they want to keep paying Bryce's rookie contract be able
to spend on other positions. But I think there will
come a point where they have to decide to come
to a crossroads, right, and they have to decide can
Bryce get us to that next point. I don't think
we're at the replaced Bryce just yet. I think we're
still at the keep letting Dan cook and add to
(10:25):
this rocket.
Speaker 8 (10:26):
Yeah, one more off season of more pass catchers and see,
if you know, the numbers go up and the consistency
goes up. I think you hit the head on the
hammer earlier, Mac in the first hour, or the hammer
on the hammer on the head earlier when you were ahead,
when you clean that up, Yeah, when you were sorry.
I'm I'm rusty here. Usually I'm on top of my game.
(10:46):
We've been awful a lot. Dave can Alis Mack got
this job earlier than anticipated because of play calling and
having the sheet in his hand. So is he gonna
want to give that up? Knowing like this is why
he got the opportunity, right, I would. I would think
that he's not gonna want to just all of a
sudden go. He's not like an established guy who's gonna
(11:08):
be like, I've I've had my time, here, you go
try this now. He's gonna hold onto that for dear life.
Speaker 2 (11:13):
That's his thing.
Speaker 9 (11:13):
Man.
Speaker 8 (11:14):
The guy goes and calls take plays before games. I
think he's gonna give it up willingly and easily. And
that's what That's what I was saying earlier.
Speaker 7 (11:20):
I know, most offensive guys that get head coaching jobs,
why do they get it because of what they did
as an OC like and I'm not saying he was
necessarily a great play caller. I thought he was really
good with Baker in Tampa. He also got the job
bone a bit early, prematurely in early right one year
as a coordinator. But again we were paying the temper tax,
(11:43):
right who wanted to coach for Temper at that point
in time. Hopefully now Temper is backed off and maybe
you know, people would be more apt to want to
work for him now moving forward. But I think he's
still learning. But yeah, it's not something that most offensive
guys relinquished, and when they do, it's often because of
a true crisis. Are we in true crisis at eight
and eight playing for the division title?
Speaker 2 (12:04):
Increased by three wins?
Speaker 4 (12:06):
You know?
Speaker 7 (12:07):
Quadruple canals is quadruple the wins in two games or
two years? I mean, so are we in crisis just yet?
But they definitely have to figure out what's up with
the offensive inconsistencies and what's up with these games where
teams can completely shut down the passing game to where
it looks like, literally, we have never practiced a forward
pass at all. Guy, when it looks bad, Boat, it
(12:30):
looks really bad. I'm talking about like Fiddy in the shower,
weeping naked back. Oh that's how bad that?
Speaker 8 (12:37):
Sorry, Fiddy, I don't want to envision you off again.
Tomorrow tomorrow actually incidental to Friday. I've excited to work
with William Eugene. Good luck on that one. Tomorrow, Hey,
mag when I just talked about canals envisioning that. You
know he does the fake play calls before the game.
Does he does he mac envision Xcel not knowing where
(12:58):
they out of bounds line is or out of a lineup?
Does he not clean that up during the fake gamestead
he calls? Does he not look out there and see
Excel not lined up right?
Speaker 7 (13:07):
The beautiful thing about his fake plays he calls in
his mind is the defense isn't taken away what he
wants to do. But when the defense takes away what
you want to do, Dave, we need a counter. That's
that's the that's the next step. Can he get to
that step? Can adding some more personnel help him get
to that step? I do think we miss rob Hunt.
I don't think that right guard spot's spend the same
all season. Bony and I gotta be honest. I thought
(13:29):
Mote had a couple of rough moments, Corbett rough moments.
I thought Icky had a couple of rough moments as well.
Yesterday maey Lewis even had a rough movement moment in
pass Pro in the first half. Question from a TOH
three Mac, that's going to drive you insane here? Do
we even want to make the playoffs. If we're gonna
play like this, miss me with that garbage. Hell yeah,
I want to go to the playoffs.
Speaker 2 (13:50):
You kidding me? Questions that?
Speaker 6 (13:53):
And what is that?
Speaker 2 (13:55):
Yeah? Am I am? I gonna fall for an OK? Yes,
I want to end. Why don't we want mess up?
Oars draft positioning.
Speaker 7 (14:03):
Two five two number says, you guys are talking like
the season is over. We're in the playoffs with a
win against the team we already beat. In the playoffs,
anything can happen. I will say this, You're we've been appreciated.
You'reppreciate it a choir, brother, We're just acknowledging that this
offense has to get better moving forward. If you want
to get to another level, this offense needs to get
(14:23):
better moving forward.
Speaker 2 (14:24):
Anything can happen to the playoffs.
Speaker 7 (14:26):
I have a pretty good feeling bone that our playoff
run will end with some good defense making us look
like that. I'm a bad feeling, a bad feeling, but
I'm Tampa is not a good defense, and I believe
we're a better team than Tampa. And I am so
stoked for freaking Saturday afternoon. So I'm with you on that, sir.
But we are one hundred percent just addressing the fact
(14:47):
that this offense does need to get better right the
whole day, Like they gotta make another step, man, they got.
Speaker 2 (14:54):
To make another step. What is Saturday for me?
Speaker 8 (14:56):
By the way, Panthers playoff Division championship game at four
point thirty right during my dinner time?
Speaker 2 (15:03):
Could you ask for more than that? On the side.
Speaker 7 (15:04):
That's huge, man, that's huge for you right there. You
got a Hornets pre game to do in the middle
of the Panther game, don't you.
Speaker 2 (15:10):
At some point you got that going on.
Speaker 7 (15:13):
Well, you got Duke playing in the middle of the
Panther games. Man, Oh, this is this is gonna be
all off for me. I'm telling you, Bone, this week
is load. I don't tell why am I telling you?
Like you don't pay attention to what's going on sports?
This week is loaded. Like with sports, like you get
to ACC basketball starting tomorrow, right tomorrow and Wednesday, and
then into the weekend ACC matchups. You got college football
(15:35):
playoff quarterfinals, the Mayo Bowls on Friday. Give the dig
some love there, all right, absolutely, I mean, and then
you've got the Panthers playing this game Saturday fourth.
Speaker 2 (15:44):
I mean You've got stuff happening.
Speaker 8 (15:46):
About one o'clock on Wednesday is Hornets and Warriors. Hornet's
playing better. Here comes Steph Curry and the Warriors. Interesting,
that's it.
Speaker 7 (15:54):
After a little manatee on weds Bill Simmons tried to
trade Lamellow for Steph Curry last week.
Speaker 2 (15:59):
But and that but for the holidays, And you're right, Matt.
Speaker 8 (16:01):
Saturday Saturday, the pregame show for the Hornets will be
at seven pm. So hopefully, uh, yeah, it's gonna be
a I'll be a little bit other fourth quarter. Are
you gonna be so distracted? Do I look at a
little Do I look like I'm coming down with something? Yes,
And I think it's definitely gonna affect you all the
way through. Do I want and be honest? So I
went pale to you today? Yes, very bhed. Yeah, but
(16:22):
that's normal though, need doing when we come back. This
should go well. The Pulsa Panther Nation your call seven
oh four, five, seven oh nine, six ten, react to
the loss yesterday and what's ahead on Saturday Sports Radio
ninety two seven.
Speaker 2 (17:00):
Yeah, yeah, that decision bad throw. You know, I wear
that obviously.
Speaker 10 (17:03):
You never want to give you know the team the
ball back, everyone on the ball over, especially where they
got it back at, take full accountability for that.
Speaker 2 (17:10):
So again I'll watch a film I'll learn from and
grow and then watch on the page.
Speaker 5 (17:14):
Is there any all communication? No?
Speaker 6 (17:18):
No?
Speaker 2 (17:18):
Uh again, that's all on me.
Speaker 10 (17:20):
Uh you know, Team mac wins said he's a super
savvy player understanding coverage, and you know that was what
I expected. He did a great job. Again that that
all falls on my shoulders. Watch the film, learn from him,
and turn the page.
Speaker 7 (17:32):
Oh lord, Bryce Bashing is back in style. Bone apparently
beam up is somehow back in style today. Rough day
for Bryce Young uh through twenty four basses Boss or
racket freaking yard the boss are back in town. There,
there you go, There you go. And that's Bryce talking
about his interception, said, it's on me. The placement of
the ball was behind where it needs to be. It
(17:54):
needs to be out in front of Team Mac. It
was kind of an odd looking route by t Mac two.
And I'm not sure that Team ac will is it
affected greatly boned by the illness whatever it might be.
But we move on, man, we move on, and hopefully
it's the good Panthers. If the trend continues. It's been
going on for nine or ten weeks. However you break
it down, I do believe it's literally the three game
(18:15):
winning streak, and then after that it was lost win loss,
So I do believe Bone. It has been five wins
surrounded by five losses.
Speaker 6 (18:24):
Yeah, it is.
Speaker 8 (18:25):
If I mistake, the whole team had that bird flew yesterday.
Oh my goodness, the whole team had that birdle Look
at Bone. But you're trying to cope now with jokes,
aren't you. You have gotten to the point on your
panther Monday where there's nothing but joking that can save you.
Speaker 2 (18:38):
Yeah, it's new to me here, it's all It's all
I got was a joke. All right, So I'm curious.
I want to hear from mom.
Speaker 8 (18:45):
Bought me underwear for Christmas, by the way, right, this
is sweet. Listen here, this is what this is what
I'm dealing. My mom bought me undies for Christmas, extra small,
she knows. So now the secret's out. Those bad boys
and I saw extra smalls. So excuse me if I'm
mortal agitated today. I were set on the price, so
(19:08):
I let him make his happy holiday, all right. I'm
going to start to be open about what I'm dealing with.
Speaker 7 (19:13):
I love to keep talking about bones underwear situation, but
I got we gotta talk Panthers. We got a winner
take all NFC South title game, although I guess if
the Falcons win their next to including the night, we
could back door our wag into this thing.
Speaker 2 (19:26):
But I want to talk to Panther nation right now.
Where's your head at?
Speaker 7 (19:30):
Do you want to talk about what's going on with
the offense, why the offense is so inconsistent, and where
do you place the blame because it is frustrating with
the bad version of the Panthers offense shows up? Or
do you want to talk about the fact that after
eight years of just primarily misery as Panther fans, we
still have this division title game coming up Saturday afternoon
(19:52):
in Tampa, that we still that we have to get
ourselves fired up for man So wherever what is the
mindset of Panther fans? Or do you want to talk
about the great crowd yesterday? I mean, I hate that
the offense didn't show up, but seventy three thousand you
maniacs showed up and it was mostly Panther fans. And
y'all were loud as hell. It reminded us what it
can be like over their bone when the panthers are
(20:15):
not booty. It reminded us of that, and unfortunately the
offense was booty. So we got a lot to talk
about here in the pulse of Panther Nation. We want
to turn it over to you, and then after that
I will just start talking non stop, all right, and
Bone will drop in stuff about his underwear. All right,
let's go to the phones. Four you know booty seven
(20:36):
oh four, five, seven, nine, six ten. Panther Nation, do
you choose to be optimistic about Saturday?
Speaker 2 (20:44):
Or do you choose to want a.
Speaker 7 (20:45):
Bitch about that offensive performance and a missed opportunity. Let's
go to Edward to start us off. Edward, how do
you feel in this morning?
Speaker 3 (20:52):
Man?
Speaker 1 (20:53):
Hey, gosh, happy holiday holiday, mall?
Speaker 2 (20:56):
What's up?
Speaker 1 (20:57):
I want to talk about Xtil and Bryce will minute.
I'm gonna start out with excel.
Speaker 4 (21:03):
To me.
Speaker 1 (21:04):
I'm gonna defend them just a little bit. To me.
A lot of stuff looks like that's going on with
him is mental. Not knowing where to line up, not
knowing where the sideline is, dropping a routine cat I
believe he talked about earlier that the brother did lose
(21:25):
his father.
Speaker 3 (21:26):
I don't know what's going on.
Speaker 1 (21:28):
It seems like it's something going on upstairs with him.
So I'm okay, and he's young, so I'm gonna give
him a little bit of grace. But you still need
to be a professional. You still need to be a professional.
So to me, it seems like a lot of stuff
is mental with him. Now with Bryce, he's grown Two
(21:49):
years ago like one of the worst quarterback, that was
the worst trade effort, he has gotten better. My question
is to be a franchise guy, what is he like
and post snap? Is he telling the offensive line to
slide when heat is coming here? Is he alert and
his receivers to run a different route? And sometimes that
(22:11):
make guys good. Yeah, he's covered, but I'm a photus
ball in here, and either it's gonna be incomplete or
my guy's gonna make a tough catch because we all
know in an NFL those windows are small and you
rarely get guys that are running wide open. So that's
my question, and I hope Bryce can continue your growth.
Speaker 7 (22:30):
That's a legit questioning so well.
Speaker 2 (22:37):
I wouldn't just calm down. We all heard it.
Speaker 7 (22:39):
There are times, bitch, just I feel like it's his
inconsistent There are times when Bryce seems to the protection
seems beautiful to handle. Blitzes, Todd Bowles, blitzes didn't do anything. Man,
it was like dirt off the shoulder, you know, to
Bryce and the offense. But there are times where defenses
are doing things where it feels like we're confused.
Speaker 2 (22:56):
I don't know.
Speaker 7 (22:57):
I think some of it's got to be on Bryce,
but I do think the cerebral part of the game
is supposed to be one of Bryce's strengths. It's just
the inconsistencies of a passing game are frustrating. It really is, man,
And this is why to me, they're gonna keep evaluating Bryce.
He's not going I just don't think he's getting the contract.
I think you use those you give him the fifth
year option, and you use the time to let the
(23:19):
team keep growing, keep adding to the roster, and eventually
you make a decision, do we need a better quarterback
than this?
Speaker 2 (23:25):
Right now?
Speaker 7 (23:25):
He's good enough to have us in the hunt, he's
good enough bone to keep improving. But there will become
a time where you get the rest of the roster
around him to a point where it's like, Okay, is
the quarterback good enough? I just don't think we're at
that point yet. I think there's two things that need
to improve. Fiddy was hitting on us yesterday during the
game when he wasn't yelling at referees and telling them
(23:46):
where they could go. I think the urgency in the
pace at times needs to pick up. Sometimes they're wally
gagging Mack a little bit in moments where receivers Xcel
doesn't run back to the line in a hurry. They're
not lined up right even when they're supposed to be
going fast. There's not a pac or an urgency sometimes
that they need. I also think not just moving quicker
(24:06):
to get things done. What about MAC team speed overall
on the offense. I know Jimmy Horn Junior is ultra fast, well,
who are the game breakers? Who are the fast guys?
Love tea Mac? But who are the separators? Who are
the guys that can get yards in a chunk? Speed wise,
They've really got to improve the overall team speed on
offen Yeah. I mean Cocher and Team Mac have made
(24:28):
plays downfield. Coker had a deep touchdown in like three
straight games. Yeah, but they're not burners. Horn's a burner,
but is he in all around every down receiver? So
I think what you're saying is, do you add a
guy to the mix that can be in your three
wide receiver rotation that has more jets, right, but can
be an all around receiver as well.
Speaker 2 (24:47):
I think that's definitely a legitimate question.
Speaker 8 (24:49):
This texter sam the Bears and Lions MAC two teams
that were bad for a long time, and they've added
these coaches. Yes, and Campbell and Ben Jonson's involved in
both those, but Mac, how many big plays that they gain?
That's what you need in this league. You can only
Mac pick up yards in a chunk. You need to
pick up big chunks. And the Panther just don't do
(25:10):
that enough. They don't do it enough. They don't do
it enough.
Speaker 7 (25:12):
This texter says, maybe if you change the quarterback, you'd
see what these receivers are capable. Yeah. I mean, listen,
that's what I'm saying. We're in the evaluation period. We're
still developing. The offense not developing at the rate the
defense is. The defense has gone bone defense is now
fifteenth in total defense from thirty second last year.
Speaker 2 (25:31):
All right, let's go. We're we're developing.
Speaker 7 (25:33):
But this offensive thing there's, there's it's gonna be a
huge conversation in the offseason. All right, let me go
to the phones. Let's get your calls in here. Enough
of my hot air. Seven oh four, five, seven, nine,
six ten. Panther Bow is in the house, and he
was in the house yesterday. Panther Bow.
Speaker 2 (25:48):
What's going on?
Speaker 3 (25:48):
Mane, what's going on?
Speaker 1 (25:50):
Guys?
Speaker 6 (25:51):
Hey?
Speaker 3 (25:51):
I was cracking up BBR day and not that I'll say, yes,
we were, Oh my gosh, he's man, good dude, good
dude around.
Speaker 8 (26:00):
It was a hit at the doghouse. If you cover
your face, you get a lot of ladies numbers.
Speaker 2 (26:07):
My buddies.
Speaker 3 (26:08):
You started making a couple of jokes, and then I
swear that fight nearly hit him right in the eye.
I thought, I was like, oh my god, Uh.
Speaker 1 (26:16):
It was got sight.
Speaker 3 (26:19):
I was watching again, making some middle notes. It wasn't
until I got my boys is gone, but uh, I
was making some middle notes, like Seattle didn't really miss
a tackle until like late in the fourth they wrapped
up everybody offense. I mean, I think you know, I
think we we just got to get a bona fide
tight end. I think you pay Rico.
Speaker 1 (26:41):
Uh.
Speaker 3 (26:42):
Bright is everyone that wants to ship out Bright. It's like,
can we can we ship out LaMelo? Bringing Braden Smith?
Speaker 1 (26:48):
I mean, I.
Speaker 7 (26:50):
Just turn to get the Purdue basketball point guard. We
can use a distraction. Shameless, shameless.
Speaker 3 (26:58):
You know I had to get my boy Braden Smith
in there because that is that is the Brice time.
I mean, he knows how to deliver the ball.
Speaker 4 (27:04):
Uh.
Speaker 3 (27:04):
But at the same time, you kind of have to
give a couple more. There was no separation in the
wide out. I'm here, there was no separation.
Speaker 7 (27:13):
That's what I thought, And I'm glad you said that. Listen,
not just because he agrees with me, but like I
do want point of views from people that were at
the game, Like did you think guys were open?
Speaker 2 (27:23):
Because I really think so.
Speaker 8 (27:25):
Fitty and I had a really good view of the
whole field, especially when they were kind of in our air.
Speaker 2 (27:31):
Obviously looking down the field that was top.
Speaker 8 (27:33):
But I do not remember a guy popping open, Fitty
where I said, he's wide open? Did you I there
was very wootle receivers getting open.
Speaker 5 (27:40):
Yesterday there was one play action where they were coming
to us I think in the third quarter where like
the fans grown because Bryce missed. It was either t
mac or Coker on a on a crossing round I
think is what it was. But that was like the
only time where like I felt like there was something
there and Bryce Stanton throw it. The next that's when
he threw the pick because it felt like he had to.
Speaker 2 (28:02):
Force that throw.
Speaker 5 (28:03):
So I don't know, man, I want to see some
all twenty two coverage because from where I was sitting
at Maggie Probab felt the same way. I mean, they
were they were getting clamped and there was just no
one open. That's what I thought.
Speaker 7 (28:15):
I also thought the pressure, especially early on skiing after him.
But again this Seattle defense, there are a bunch of animals, man,
they are.
Speaker 2 (28:22):
But that's where you got to You got a boot.
You've got to counter that.
Speaker 7 (28:26):
They tried the boots, they tried as a game, get
got on to get him more outside.
Speaker 2 (28:30):
Seattle did a pretty good job against that.
Speaker 7 (28:32):
You had one where Bryce through a great pass and
Tremaine dived and couldn't get it. I thought, he I thought, again,
he's pricing Tremaine but like I'd like to have a
receiver that can catch that. Yeah, it was, it was
a good ball. It's just again, like I know you
all are sick of me saying this. The offense is
a damn work in progress. The old team is a
work in progress. But I'll take work in progress playing
(28:52):
for a divisional championship over the damn hot garbage we've
been fed for freaking years.
Speaker 2 (28:57):
There's a lot of that has to be said.
Speaker 8 (28:59):
Man, I don't want to say there's a lot, but
there's certainly those that are wanting Canal is gone. Yet
they've increased the wind total mac what by sticks over
a couple of years before. Remember what happened with the
other pro team in town and James Brago. They increased
it by ten by ten by ten and fired them
and it turned out to be a mistake.
Speaker 2 (29:20):
That's true.
Speaker 8 (29:20):
So when a guy's increasing the wind total, no matter
how they get there, and it's not always pretty, but
it's getting there. What's not just all of a sudden,
right the guy all and firing.
Speaker 7 (29:28):
Canalis is an irrational third takes You're in a well
land now should he give up play calling? That's more
of a legit conversation. Fred is up next. Fred, how
you feeling about all this?
Speaker 3 (29:39):
Man?
Speaker 6 (29:40):
Well, you've mentioned canalists. I don't know why we move
off the run so quickly. The first place for scrimmage
was a nine or ten yard run, and then we
just move away from it. We don't run it back
to back. The other thing is the defense has built
us out all year, but yesterday I just thought they
missed more and more mistackles than I've seen them all year.
Speaker 2 (30:00):
The tackling, yeah, we certainly missed more. In Seattle.
Speaker 7 (30:02):
Se had attacked their asses off out in the flat
on the check downs.
Speaker 2 (30:05):
Did they miss one? I just have a hard time bone.
Speaker 7 (30:10):
Getting too upset about the defense where their times bone
that they missed tackles like Sharboney getting twenty five yards
on third and fifteen was pretty annoying to watch. Want
them missed him in the backfield and then everybody else
got blocked up. Charbonay had another one over twenty yards
in the second half. He got us on a couple
of big ones. I think the defense kind of wore
down as the game went on. Nick Scott kind of
(30:30):
went flying on one where Sharbonay, you know, cut.
Speaker 2 (30:33):
It up field.
Speaker 7 (30:33):
Outside right, But I thought the defense fought their asses
off with very little assistance from the offense. I mean
very little assistance, and they were forcing turnovers. I gotta
be honest with you, they could add four turnovers.
Speaker 3 (30:44):
J C.
Speaker 7 (30:45):
Horn dropped an interception in the first half. I know,
you just to play the game's hip by want of him,
but he dropped that ball. Man, Come on, that thing
got all the way through his hands to his body.
That's upsetting. And then Derek Brown's so close to making
that interception off the chair liss hit. I thought the
defense played their asses off against a very good offense
yesterday in Seattle, and I think they should be celebrated.
I really do, all right, last call, do we get
(31:07):
the man in the Man himself Bony DVR days he's.
Speaker 2 (31:10):
Wearing the mask the man.
Speaker 8 (31:12):
He sounded like a drive through attend wearing there's that laugh.
Speaker 2 (31:17):
There's that laugh.
Speaker 7 (31:18):
The man fresh off his Carolina Reaper appearance at the doghouse.
Speaker 2 (31:23):
Dave, what's going on, brother man?
Speaker 9 (31:25):
It's like I told Fiddy, I'm gonna have to sit
down and have dinner with you guys and tell the
story of yesterday because except for the Panthers lost yesterday
was epic.
Speaker 2 (31:36):
So the games. He said, he's in for dinner. Just
let him know.
Speaker 9 (31:39):
Well, I say, you guys, the name of the restaurant.
I mean, I grew up down there. Let's all go
to Cactus Rose.
Speaker 2 (31:45):
We're good, he's founder. Will you go to dinner? In
the Reaper costume I've done.
Speaker 9 (31:52):
I've done Stranger, Yes.
Speaker 2 (31:54):
Stranger Stranger. Where have you worn? Said costume?
Speaker 1 (32:01):
Uh?
Speaker 9 (32:01):
Well, not that costume. But remember the media will reenact,
and I've done demos. I've done demos at East med
years ago. You know you don't remember Festival in the Park.
You guys remember anybody that? Okay, so we did Festival
in the Park for I don't know fifteen or twenty
years straight.
Speaker 2 (32:16):
And what they're you're reenacting battles in the park.
Speaker 9 (32:19):
Yeah.
Speaker 8 (32:20):
By the way, gave you the man baby. By the way,
our audience right now is falling asleep. Do you have
any thoughts on the game yesterday?
Speaker 3 (32:26):
Day?
Speaker 9 (32:31):
All right, Yeah, here's my thoughts on the game. I'm
going to read off. I'm gonna read off sixteen words. Ravens, Bengals, Browns, Colts, Chiefs, Raiders, Dolphins, Jets, Titans, Cardinals, Falcons, Cowboys, Lions, Vikings, Saints, Giants, Commanders.
Those are the sixteen teams that would kill to be
in our position right this instant playing.
Speaker 7 (32:52):
For Reade jup Battlehawk Nation says, Dang, DVR Dave is
a Carolina Reaper. I don't think he's the reaper because
we met the guy yesterday.
Speaker 2 (33:06):
Kevin is the real reaper. We met him. Oh I
didn't know.
Speaker 8 (33:09):
Yeah, he's a Facebook friend of mine. Look today he was,
He was there and he is. He is kind of
a happier looking reaper.
Speaker 7 (33:16):
DVR Dave like looks terrifying, which is why it was
so crazy how many attractive young ladies wanted to talk
to DVR Dave in that outfit because it is really
a scary.
Speaker 8 (33:26):
Look at the outfit after Kevin is the Carolina Reaper
on Facebook last week when he saw DVR Dave involved
in our victory dance, he called him a cheap imitation
of him.
Speaker 7 (33:38):
Oh, I guess yesterday they were hanging out. It was
a Reaper madness Reaper squared yesterday. Oh, what's just happened
here at the end of this day?
Speaker 6 (33:48):
But I don't know.
Speaker 2 (33:49):
Yah.
Speaker 7 (33:50):
The Panthers offense might have looked like ass, but Dave
had fun dressing up in a reaper cuting talking to
women for the first time.
Speaker 2 (33:56):
He wants in two decades, nally wants to go eat
burritos with its. Everybody feel better now that they know
that Dave had a good day yesterday.
Speaker 8 (34:03):
Oh when we come back and Sunday's game make fans
sour on Bright's again, Sporurts Radio ninety two seven.
Speaker 11 (34:24):
It was unfortunate, you know, he rallies up to make
a tackle. He didn't really pull the face mask, but
there's contact there, you know, and he grasped it a
little bit, and the official called it the way he
saw it. And really unfortunate happened in that situation where
we could have had a chance to get the ball
back in and try to.
Speaker 2 (34:39):
Do something there.
Speaker 7 (34:42):
I don't know, why does every audio clip get a
fitty scoff sale effect today, Like that's seriously, save your
scoffing for tomorrow. When tomorrow Bone and I, after being
taxed for working for four hours, need three more days
off before we come back for football Friday.
Speaker 2 (34:58):
In fairness, I have to get I prepared for Duke
to play in the UH sun Bowl. There you go,
and to make sure the right that's a big one
for you.
Speaker 1 (35:07):
Man.
Speaker 2 (35:08):
There with my Nitney lines playing in a pin.
Speaker 8 (35:10):
Strike ball see see champce back playing at two thirty
on a weekday.
Speaker 2 (35:13):
What more do you need?
Speaker 4 (35:14):
Go?
Speaker 7 (35:14):
There you go, baby, That's how you ring in a
new year. That's how you celebrate a New Year's Eve.
But anyway, it'll be Fitty and Willy Tomorrow it'll be
the young Guns a little later on Wednesday, young Guns
eleven am. It's Fitty Shoppie and Flounder eleven am to noon.
Then you got Hornets basket eight am the nude. Yes,
thank you, that's what I was trying to say. That
didn't work out his playing, I got it. But anyway,
(35:37):
eight am the noon, and then as you mentioned, there's
Hornets basketball at one o'clock against Golden State. Steph Curry
in town, Giannis is in town tonight and the McLain
family will be in attendance at Hornets Bucks tonight. I
thought that Mac Junior, he's a hornets nut and a
hoops nut, and I thought he would be the only
one that wanted to go.
Speaker 2 (35:57):
This is Mac wanted to go to. Now I will say, Caitlyn.
Speaker 1 (36:01):
Uh.
Speaker 7 (36:02):
The only the only thing that I could sell Caitlyn on.
She's not necessarily a big basketball fan. The only thing
I sell Caitlyn on is the food, all new culinary options, Caitlyn,
Since the last time you've been there, it's.
Speaker 2 (36:16):
A reimagined Spectrum center.
Speaker 5 (36:18):
Girl.
Speaker 2 (36:18):
They have reimagined the menu for you. That's how we go.
She's excited about that. That's how we get fitty to go.
Speaker 8 (36:24):
By the way, mag I saw Mac Junior on Instagram
the other day posting photos of I think it was
file on from Alabama, and ask you why is Mac
Junior posting Alabama basketball photos? He has two basketball college
basketball teams. Alabat is now his second favorite team.
Speaker 2 (36:40):
Is this our fault? You and I did we do something?
Speaker 7 (36:43):
I blame Uncle Boone? Well, please don't get me involved.
I'm messing up enough at the house. Don't get me
involved in this. I believe this is Uncle Boone being
influences my fault.
Speaker 2 (36:52):
All right, I want to talk.
Speaker 7 (36:53):
I mean, we're gonna talk about Bryce here, but we've
talked so much about Bryce. It's always about Bryce. The
game was complete, Uh, Booty, There's no doubt about it.
But I want to talk about this JC Horn thing
because what I'm noticing on the text line is this
is the most JC Horn anger that I can remember
being on the text line. And I'm pretty sure they're
not all Wes Brian Burners, you know what I mean.
(37:13):
Sometimes I wonder, but I'm pretty sure it's not. You've
got this one firework. Go Boom is the name of
the Texter. I don't know if he did that himself
or if Troppy named him that, but he says, in
my opinion, Horn has entirely too many DEPI holding her
personal fouls. It's at least once a game. In all honesty,
I feel like Mike Jackson has had the more solid year.
He faced the other team's number one almost every game.
(37:35):
Only reason jac made the Pro Bowl was his two
picks in primetime. Just my humble opinion.
Speaker 2 (37:39):
That's Connor. He has an actual name, Connor.
Speaker 7 (37:42):
Another Texter bone Mike Jackson has been is a better
corner than j. C. Horn, another Texter nine to eight
zero number. The fact that you guys aren't giving Horn
the business today is embarrassing. You kiss that dude's rear end.
He is a liability as as much as he is
a positive.
Speaker 2 (38:02):
What do you think?
Speaker 7 (38:02):
I heard this on the postgame show yesterday, I've seen
it on the text line today. The play was a
complete mistake at a horrible time on third and twenty
one the face mask, And he is too prone. He
came into the league like that, and he still is
very physical and he's too prone to penalties. But there's
way more good than the bad.
Speaker 2 (38:21):
With jay C.
Speaker 8 (38:22):
Yeah, he's been a little mistake prone. I think his
reputation back hurts him at times because he is a
little handsy. He plays physical and it's cost him a
little bit. But where would that defense be without him. Yes,
he's got to clean up some things here. I don't
think he's been at his best necessarily lately with some
of the things. But that was a pretty ticky tack
face mask. He's got to adjust that. But I don't know, man,
(38:44):
There's a lot of problems on this team that go
far beyond Jase Horn. Right, I'm not gonna sit here
and rip j C.
Speaker 2 (38:51):
Horn.
Speaker 8 (38:51):
There's things to clean up. I think he's got to
play better here at times, but I'm not gonna sit
here and blame him for any problems going on. Yesterday
was a mistake. But look, man, no one's perfect out there,
right Listen. Even the best, even the best in the league,
are perfect.
Speaker 7 (39:05):
Listen, I do. He's had a couple of rough games.
The Saints game at home was horribly fell down twice.
He gave one hundred and fifty yards scoring to PFF.
Saints got him obviously a couple of times, including the
touchdown on the road as well. He has been penalty prone,
but I still think you got a points of games
bone where teams barely avoid him. New England didn't pass
a pass in his direction. Mike jack got torched that day.
(39:30):
Tampa last week didn't throw a pass in his direction
other than the one PI, but it doesn't count. So
there he is much more of a deterrent. Mike Jackett
seems like what doesn't seem like it. He gets more targets.
His pass breakup numbers are extremely high, but he gets
tested more. There does feel like bone. There, There is
an effort a lot of times. Do not throw it
(39:51):
horn as much, but I think you got I don't
think corners get credit enough when they blank it. When
they blank somebody zero targets like I'm sorry As a corner.
You've done your job, and he's also very physical in
run defense as his mic Jack.
Speaker 8 (40:06):
You know who's responsible for the Buccaneers winde out. It's
not doing a lot the week before. Remember Buka had
one catch, Mike Evans had a touchdown and did very little.
Godwin had five for thirty. So we're one week remove
Mac from the secondary. Well, by the way, it's led
by j C. Horn shutting down one of the best
wide receiver groups in all football. That was just one
week ago. That's one week. So yes, yesterday wasn't perfect,
(40:29):
but let's not act like it's been every single week
where jac Horn's like getting lit up.
Speaker 3 (40:33):
Ors on this.
Speaker 7 (40:34):
Dude said he dropped an interception once again, you guys
are ignoring it. We literally I think we talked about
that one like fifteen minutes ago. I would have liked
for him to catch that. Dan Football want him made
a great play? I thought, want him play great. There
were so many guys that played great. Robinson, Dereck Brown
that played Dereck Brown made where he chanced Sam Donald
down and push him out of bounds inside of five
on third down to force the field goal. How's the
(40:56):
guy that size get out there like that. That's a
pro bowler play. He gets moving, It's yes, he is.
He gets moving bone and like he get that body movie.
He gets in little limbs, I shouldn't say little. He
gets in big limbs, moving like it is a treat
to watch that big fellow run. So I thought there
are plenty of guys that made plays yesterday. Marrig made
(41:16):
a couple of plays in the backfield. It's just a
damn shame the offense did so little. But I don't know,
I just it's I feel like people are calling out J. C.
Horn a little too much here, man. But we have
that that tendency in this town. We have a history
in this town of attacking our best players with more
ferocity than the crap.
Speaker 8 (41:37):
They wanted him gone because he got injured too much.
Now he's healthy all the time. He's health and the
healthy is going to two Pro Bowls. Yeah, let's trade
the pro bowler. Why don't we trade? Here's the problem,
why don't we trade Derek bro What is the fan
Bates gonna turn on Derek Brown?
Speaker 2 (41:50):
Is that next they're gonna he didn't make the Pro
Bowl this year. He's not that good.
Speaker 8 (41:54):
Real d Lineman. Uh, they intercept the passes when they're
in their hands. That'll be the next thing.
Speaker 7 (42:01):
Yeah, oh man, we easily could have had four turnovers
in that game, There's no doubt about it. But what
would the offensive done with it over? The offensive done
with him giving it right back? That Cuba fumble. I
love Cuba, but that is brutal timing. But as many
of you were bringing up, the JC horn play was
a momentum shifter. There's no doubt about it. Fitty told
(42:23):
the guy sitting next to him in the stands that
Boat told the guy was a momentum shifter.
Speaker 3 (42:27):
He did.
Speaker 7 (42:28):
Phitty has told me that this morning I Phitty was
holding was Fitty holding corn up there in the sands.
Speaker 8 (42:32):
Fitty made a friend in front of us because Freddy
kept yelling at the referees, and this guy liked that.
I was sitting next to an old Morgan State quarterback.
Him and I were calm while he's out at the referee. Fitty,
you you should have seen speaking of yelling f you
at the referees. You should have seen Smoke a loved week.
He made a rare appearance in the press box. Willie
was at the game as a fan with his wife.
(42:52):
So there was a spot opening the press box. The
Smoke came in all dressed up with a nice shirt
and everything color on it and everything. And Smoke was
so well behaved and so calm.
Speaker 7 (43:02):
It's a complete opposite of the guy you watch games
with here at the studio fitting. But I have to
tell you I caught him a couple of times when
they were like questionable no calls. It felt like he
was fighting his body, you know what I mean, Almost
like in the Exorcist Bone when the head starts spinning
around and the demons are instiding in your possession. It
felt like Smoke was fighting a demon possessing his body inside.
Speaker 2 (43:27):
But he stayed quiet, and he stayed professional.
Speaker 5 (43:29):
I had to text him because there were some holding
calls that I thought were clearly missed in front of
me and I just and so we had a.
Speaker 2 (43:36):
We had a We had a few text messages.
Speaker 5 (43:39):
We had a few exchanges with some bad words in between,
because my god, the officiating.
Speaker 2 (43:45):
In this league is terrible. I may have to quit radio. Guys, now,
did you see you become an official? Next time? To
don't go? Don't go next time?
Speaker 8 (43:54):
Tel Smoke back forty nine days to Daytona, forty nine
days to Daytona when we come back on the Mack
and Bone Show on this non victory Monday. Did yesterday's
ugly loss change the way you feel about the NFC
South Race Now Sports Radio ninety two seven WFNZ,
