Speaker 1 (00:14):
All right, Joe Mack and Bone with you were hanging out, man,
humped up for football this weekend. College football is gonna
be amazing. Ryder Cup's gonna be amazing.

Speaker 2 (00:25):
Bone.

Speaker 1 (00:25):
Got to hope the US brings it back and Panthers
Patriots were very very pumped up for that one team though, Bone,
that will be you know, relaxing a little bit more
than usual is the tar Heels. They're on a bye
week this week. They will have Clemson next week in
a something's got to give matchup, right. Both programs, you know,

(00:47):
need a spark, and one of them will get it. Right. Now,
it is time to talk to the voice of the
UNC tar Heels, our guy Jones Angel, to look forward
maybe a little bit to the Clemson game, but also
to discuss what went down unfortunately in Orlando. Jones, what's
going on, man? How you holding up well?

Speaker 2 (01:08):
Doing great? Guys? Good to talk with you.

Speaker 3 (01:10):
I love the Ryder Cup, man, it is my favorite
non tar Heel event of the year, so I'm fired up.
I'm looking forward to that. I'm going to be up
at seven o'clock tomorrow with the TV on, ready to
go for that alternate shot. I'm pumped for that, But
from the Tario perspective, obviously he's got a lot of
work to do, and this important stretch for him, they

(01:33):
got they gotta figure things out, guys, I mean, particularly
on that offensive side. And not that the defense was perfect,
because it was not. But I do think this past
weekend the defense gave Carolina a chance to win the
game early in the game through.

Speaker 2 (01:47):
About the first half. But man, the Tarrios are just struggling.

Speaker 3 (01:51):
To get any consistency on the offensive side. And that's
not the only problem, but I do think that is
the problem one a right now for the Heels is
get more consistent offensively and figure out how to move
the ball, hold the ball a little bit so you're
defense and out there forever and obviously put some more
points on the board so that that'll be job one here.

(02:11):
Over these what has occurred already this week and then
leading up to next weekend when Clemson comes to town.

Speaker 4 (02:18):
Jones, why do you think it's been such a struggle
for Goo Lopez so far?

Speaker 3 (02:22):
Man?

Speaker 2 (02:24):
That's the million dollar question, isn't it?

Speaker 3 (02:25):
And certainly you hate the GEO is injured in that
game against UCF. It was reported earlier this week, although
nothing official has been said by Carolina that it is
not a season ending injury, but but that he is
likely going to miss some time. But it has been
a struggle, guys for g O to this point. And
I think the curious thing is if you go back

(02:46):
and you and you really watch the plays and you
watch the action, there's some stuff there. It's not like
it's not as though Carolina is getting covered up and
just as nobody available on every single play, there's some
plays to be made that just aren't being made right now.
And so whether that is a comfort level, whether that

(03:09):
is you know, just getting there to Chapel Hill in
late May early June and trying to really learn the
full offense and just get I'll use that we're comfortable
again in it. Whether that's getting to know your receivers,
whether that's things are just moving fast for him right now,
whatever it may be, I don't know, but it is

(03:30):
something that is obviously he has not played as well
as he would like, and certainly he assuming that he
does return healthy at some point in this season and
is back out there, it's an area that Carolina just
has to improve. I do think, guys, The big question
now is, assuming Geo can't go for a couple of games,

(03:52):
you know how Carolina handles that position. You certainly have
Max Johnson, who is a veteran college quarterback and has
been solid in his appearances. There are some limitations there
for Max due to some injuries in the past and
just his playing style. Then you after that, you're you're
going to two true freshmen or the next two guys

(04:14):
on the deep chart for the Tarios, both very talented
in Tory Newkirk, who's up from the Virginia Beach area,
and then Bryce Baker from from right there in the
Cernersville area in North Carolina. You know how the Heels
handle that position. Obviously we'll have a bright spotlight on
it here over the next couple of weeks.

Speaker 1 (04:31):
Jones, do you feel like like you do have a
situation with this interesting schedule quirk where you have the
bye week Clemson and then another bye week. You do
have like a lot of time to kind of work
on stuff. Whatever happens in the Clemson game. There's that's
a lot of you know, kind of downtime and practice time,
which I think this team needs. Do you look at
it and feel like maybe you do like, hey, there's

(04:53):
a lot of room to grow, you know, with that
practice time, or are you worried that, man, this team's
just it's not going to be where y'all want it
to be until you get the influx of talent in
the next classes.

Speaker 3 (05:07):
I think the answer is probably a little bit of both, right.
I mean, I do think this team certainly can get
better than it has been. And I do think practice time,
particularly with a good staff and a head coach who
knows what he's doing, you would use that. You would
assume that practice time is going to be beneficial. And

(05:27):
I think also there's a question, you know, what is
the what are the main goals of that practice time.
Are you looking at younger guys to say, hey, look,
we need to go ahead and fast track some of
these younger guys to start getting some more snaps, or
is it a we really feel like we've got the
right core of guys that are playing. We just need
to hammer home some of the things that we're trying

(05:48):
to do, or we need to tweak some things that
we're trying to do to better put them in position
to be successful. You know, whatever that might be. You
do have a little more time to do that here
over these next couple of weeks, because, as you said,
the really strange schedule that the Tarios are dealing with
where you go buy or opened a game open date
and then you have seven consecutive weeks of games after that,

(06:11):
So that is one part of it. But I think also,
you know, Caroliner does feel like it recruiting very well.
The Tarios certainly are going to be active in the
portal as everybody will be again after this season, and
they feel like they can in total just upgrade the
talent on their team, because everybody's trying to upgrade the
talent on their team every single season, and so I

(06:32):
think the answer is probably somewhere in the middle. But
for this year, there's only one answer, and that's who
do you have on your team currently that you can
best put in possession to win? Are you doing that currently?
Do you need to change some of your approach? All
of these things I think are heavily being discussed and
figured out right now.

Speaker 1 (06:52):
Jones.

Speaker 4 (06:52):
I know we'll talk more about them next week and
the lead up to the game, but just right now,
what's your far off views of Clem and how shocked
are you at the start that they are off to
as well?

Speaker 3 (07:05):
Well, you know, Clyton has been so good for so
long that that anytime you have a rough patch, it's
going to be surprising. I think what is still a
no doubter or is that Clemson has a lot of
good players on its team, and they've got some guys
who have both are young and talented, and they have
guys who have proven it before. And say what you

(07:26):
will about Kid Klubnick, he has had success against the Tariols,
for sure, and so he has played very well against.

Speaker 2 (07:32):
The Tarioles in the past.

Speaker 3 (07:34):
And so Clemson has pretty plenty of good players, they've
got an excellent head coach, and they're going to be
angry and they've got extra time to think about it,
so that that is all a dangerous recipe if you're
the opponent. And so for Carolina, who's also you know,
have some of those same pieces working for it as

(07:54):
you lead into this game next weekend, I honestly think
of Fort Clinton is important because it's the opponent and
you know they're going to be good and fired up
and they're gonna play well. Caroline has got enough issues
right now that Victorios seem to worry about themselves and
how can they get better right now? How can they
best put their guys in position? Are they playing the

(08:15):
right guys? You know, all the stuff we just talked about.

Speaker 1 (08:17):
I respect them.

Speaker 2 (08:19):
That to me is the focus.

Speaker 1 (08:21):
I respect that Bone Jones is not gonna throw stones,
all right, Cael Jones. Angel, that's throwing stones Angel all right? Jones,
by the way, I trust that you will get a
will blow up and frame a copy of Bill Belichick
and Jordan Hudson's US Weekly. Have I correct in that.

Speaker 3 (08:41):
What I will say, guys is that is not a
new photo shoot. That was obviously from an NFL event
back in February, Because I know Coach Belichick caught a
little heat out there for why are.

Speaker 2 (08:50):
You doing this when when your teams.

Speaker 1 (08:52):
There's no separate shoot just for that magazine. That is
a good point.

Speaker 2 (08:56):
Yeah, this was months ago.

Speaker 3 (08:58):
I don't think either one of those two PEO people
even participated in the article. But look, we've talked about
it before, like he is a different level of celebrity,
and so there's just some stuff that's gonna come that
you have to.

Speaker 2 (09:11):
Deal with and manage. Is it a great. Look when you.

Speaker 3 (09:13):
Just didn't have a great week last week and are
struggling here in the first month. Absolutely not. But again,
this isn't something that he set down for, and it's like, yes,
I think now it's the right time to do this.
So I think it's more kind of comes with the
territory a little bit.

Speaker 1 (09:26):
Yep, that's true. That's a good point. We didn't bring
that up earlier when we talked about it. I, Jones,
you are the man. We will talk to you next week.
So I was going to ask your bye week plans,
but you already told me. Man, it sounds like you're
a front of the TV for Ryder Cup all weekend.

Speaker 3 (09:38):
Oh baby, I'm posting up in the morning guys all
week and long. And my son's got some AAU basketball
a little bit on Saturday, so I'll be keeping up
with football and Ryder Cup on my phone that day.
But man, I'm ready for a great sports weekend.

Speaker 1 (09:50):
Enjoy it, man, enjoy it. Enjoy it.

Speaker 3 (09:51):
Man.

Speaker 1 (09:52):
We'll talk to you next week.

Speaker 2 (09:53):
Thanks, guys, thought you soon.

Speaker 1 (09:54):
All right, There you go, Jones angel joining us talking
heels as he goes every week on the Mac and
Bone Show. I was just thinking of something. Oh multiple
First of all, multiple people. Mac just said Joe from
Browley said it won't be the tar Heels, but this texture.
There's a little more context of this texture. Matc just said,

(10:15):
either Caroline or Clemson next week will get the spark
they need. Mac knows damn well, it ain't gonna be
the Heels. Do you feel flound at all? Zero chants
they win this game, get the credit.

Speaker 3 (10:31):
I was told.

Speaker 5 (10:31):
I was told by the resident gatekeeper of the tar
Heel fandom? Amit negative? Kiss my ass? I think that's
oh my god. I think that's where we have to
go with this.

Speaker 1 (10:47):
Problem.

Speaker 4 (10:47):
The problem here, though, is Clemson is also on a
buy who also can work on some things this week
due it's the way Clempson has some game ahead of
that they have to work on. Clemson's full focus right
now is on you and seel.

Speaker 1 (10:58):
Just think of the talent differential that's going to be
on that field. That's what I was going to say.
I think we are dealing with a different level of
stinky right now. Like Clemson is stinky compared to the
expectations of being a national title contender. Carolina is like
looks like like they smell like that blowout infested.

Speaker 4 (11:18):
Clemson has body odor. Right, obviously they're not smelling gray,
but it's not you kind of whiff it. Yeah, not great, Okay,
UNC has a full blown diaper situation.

Speaker 1 (11:28):
Yeah, blood that we've poofed ourselves and we're walking around
in public. No, you're right. Dad's trying to hose the
kid off right now. I mean it's horrible, but the
stench is blowing all the way down the block. That's
what's happening to the and again, I'll take any joy,
I'm sorry, even Floulers laughing at his own seat. I
don't take any joy in this. It's just damn suck.

Speaker 4 (11:47):
What can you do when things are That bad guy
that said we ruined every segment three Ninjas is not
gonna be happy with the way this trendspired.

Speaker 1 (11:53):
I don't know. I think he likes it. Maybe he
likes silliness or he's not like that either. He didn't
like me. He thinks you and ibone now they go
way deep into the you know, the behind the scenes.
He and I have talked it out. I might have
yelled at him to shut the heck up, kind of
out of fury. And anger earlier answer to text line
correct to me, But he and I have worked it out, bony.
He does not like he likes the sport. He likes

(12:15):
our sports talk. He thinks you and I get caught
up into silly arguments to where we should channel our energy. Seriously,
but we've been together for over twenty years. Anybody that's
been married for over twenty years, y'all not argue how
is it possible? Like, how is it possible bone for
you and I not to get each other's neck sometimes? Right,

(12:35):
we've been together over twenty years. I'm just messing with you.

Speaker 4 (12:40):
Yeah, And by the way, when is the last time
we actually fought, like an hour ago something.

Speaker 1 (12:44):
It's been a good hour. We're on a good hour
streak there in Ninja. By the way, if you're dealing
with the streaming issues, and like, I don't even know
how well you can hear this. Apparently there's a little
crackling sound where you can't hear what we're saying, fully,
and I don't know if it's I don't know if
you can manage center. If you can't, we're doing the
show in a tunnel.

Speaker 4 (13:03):
They think's absence has caused the station to fall.

Speaker 1 (13:06):
Oh my god, how much credit they given this guy?
They really when Fiddy hypes himself up as the station,
they really believe it, don't they. There are people out
there buying into that family members probably. I mean, that
is just some self promoting propaganda. Man, my god, he
does it well though. But anyway, if you get ninety
two seven's all we got. But they are working on

(13:27):
the stream and the podcast and the podcast. I want
to go back and listen to the podcast later.

Speaker 2 (13:32):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (13:32):
This is an upgrade though, bone from the streaming issues
an hour one where our streams were our streams were crossed.
Stop that our streams were crossed here at Radio one
and like our if you tune in our stream your WBT,
if you listen to WP stream, you'd hear praise the
Gospel state. We were all messed up in the first

(13:53):
how we couldn't find ours? And then Matt came on,
and so who wants to talk about? Who wants to talk?
You do have an alternative way to listen to us.
Just open your window or door and I'm loud enough
that you can probably hear me. That's the alternative way.

Speaker 4 (14:10):
Mac will actually come to your house and ring your
girl ball on top Panthers. When the wack now though,
Drew says, when we come, when we come back. Gary
Williams of Five Clubs Golf, longtime friend of the station,
in front of the friend of the show, former co worker,
he joins us live from Bethpage for a Ryder Cup
preview Sports Radio WFNZ.

Speaker 2 (14:43):
Oh no, we did.

Speaker 1 (14:45):
Flown went free burn on him, y'all. Flound went free burn?
All right? I respect it, I respect it. We are back.
It is the Mac and Bone Show, Rocket and rolling
through Thursday. Cannot wait for the Ryder Cup to start tomorrow.
Not often Bone that we get sporting events live on
the air while we're on the air. Definitely not one

(15:05):
that gets us this fired up. Not the Korean Baseball
League we went through that. That really didn't get me going. Uh,
you know, the Open in England is nice, but the
Ryder Cup tomorrow, this is gonna be cool.

Speaker 4 (15:18):
By the way, somebody played a stick joke over here?

Speaker 1 (15:20):
What's that? What is that?

Speaker 4 (15:21):
Why of when Gary Williams is on hold? Why did
I have the audible romance read come up? When he's
on you think he's gonna be It's like they knew
that there's something here that Gary needs to hear.

Speaker 1 (15:34):
Does he not know about your tender Sidebone, your romance
novel side? Hey man, I just read them, all right,
So let's talk Ryder Cup. Let's talk Bone, romance novel reads.
Gary Williams, five club, Golfs on Golf, five Clubs on
Golf Channel, as I try to speak, also a host
over on Serious XM as well, and of course for

(15:57):
years on this very station, in this very time slot,
back when this time slot was classy on wfn Z, Gary,
we got to talk some ryder Cup. We got to
catch up. How you been doing?

Speaker 2 (16:07):
Man boys.

Speaker 6 (16:09):
Let me tell you something.

Speaker 7 (16:10):
There is nothing more nourishing than hearing an audible pre
recorded spot from Bone talking rom coms I have. I
am ready. I can't wait to get back to the
media hotel, order up some some rom coms on audible.

Speaker 4 (16:24):
Yeah, you sold them, Bony, you did your job, by
the way, not even just that, Gary, it's also the
really steamy stuff as well.

Speaker 1 (16:30):
That's in the copy there.

Speaker 7 (16:31):
Yes, Steam, let me keep it down in room to
six thirty seven.

Speaker 1 (16:35):
I don't want them to hear me, right, That is right,
all right? You just be glided in the Lake Placid,
one of the old timers. So many old timers, would
you had money in my boots? So many old By
the way, just because Jim's done on the station anymore
doesn't mean his stories don't get told in this time slot.

Speaker 7 (16:54):
Gary, I had somebody asked me yesterday, and this is
the God's honor true. Josh Carpenter lives in Charlotte, grew
up in the area listening to w f n Z,
and he literally asked me yesterday about Selena. He works
for the sports.

Speaker 6 (17:10):
Business journally covers the game of golf.

Speaker 2 (17:12):
The business of God.

Speaker 7 (17:13):
He's very good, uh, And he asked about Jim yesterday,
truly at that page.

Speaker 1 (17:20):
Lives very nice. Long live Jimmy. All right, let's we
hope we got to check in here. It's oh no, no,
don't do that. All right, let's talk Ryder Cup. I
just I love the passion of this. You know, you know, Gary,
I am not. I don't really fit the golf atmosphere
the way you do, all right, That's why they don't

(17:40):
want us back at Quail Hollow. But my god, I
like to scream about sports the way you do it.
The Ryder Cup. I just I love to feel this event.
I love the patriotism of this event. And man Rome
was demoralizing. Rome was and it started right away. It's
like I felt that you never had a chance. Are
they is there an edge? Are they taking an edge?
Are they remembering that? Do you do you think? Because

(18:02):
I always feel like Europe feeds off of motion. Do
you think our boys are showing up but a little
bit of edge this week?

Speaker 7 (18:08):
I do? I mean this is you know, look, this
is always tricky because it's an environment literally for them
when they're when they're out there, that's that's uncommon. That's
how boter boisterous it is. The other part is they
don't play team golf. Now, look a lot of these
they played college golf together. They're going out there trying
to post score. They played some Walker Cup. Some of

(18:29):
these guys on the United States team. The interesting thing
to get to your question is that the US is
a lot less experience this time around than the Europeans.
Justin Thomas is this is his fourth Rider Cup team.
Half the European team is playing on at least their
fourth Rider Cup team. Justin Rose his seventh rory, his eighth.

(18:50):
I do think that Keegan Bradley has set a tone.
I think these guys admire the way that he's immersed
himself in being the captain of this team. And so yeah,
I think that naturally having this crowd, which has been
an overwhelming advantage for the home team, It's weird that
golf currently possesses truly.

Speaker 6 (19:10):
The best home field advantage in sports.

Speaker 7 (19:13):
This we're living in a decade of blowouts. The last
five Ryder Cups have been won by an average of
six and a half points. That's like, that's like winning
football games by five touchdowns and that's like five Super
Bowls or ten of them being blowouts consecutively. We need
a hyper competitive one. I think we're going to get that.
I do think mact that that the American team is

(19:35):
made up of a bunch of guys that that that
week in and week out are pretty flatlined. But I
do think that they will they will be possessed of
something that will look unusual, and that is emotion and
and then being demonstrative. And I do think that that
Bryson D. Chambeau is a chip for this team because
he likes this environment. He he he literally lives for it.

(19:59):
So yeah, I think they will be I think they'll
be edgy. I think they'll be chippy. Look, the event
itself makes it confrontational because it's match play, which is
why we love it so much.

Speaker 4 (20:11):
Gary, do you like the makeup of the US roster
top the bottom? Did anyone selection surprise you, either that
they made it or someone that didn't.

Speaker 7 (20:19):
Make this I wasn't surprised. I was I would have
omitted Colin Moricow off the team. I think that he's
had it, by his standards, a dreadful year. He's had
a horrible putting year. He's changed caddies three times, he said,
one top ten since March.

Speaker 1 (20:37):
But he's here.

Speaker 7 (20:38):
He's still an elead iron player. I would have I
would have omitted him, and I would have gone in
the direction of someone like Maverick McNeely, who again, it
would have been another rookie. But here's one thing about rookies,
and people go, god, you know a quarter of the
or a third of the team for the United States
has made up of rookies. I don't care. Rookies Historically,
on both sides and in particular for the United States,

(21:00):
have always fared very well in the last twenty five
years rookies for the American team seventy three, fifty nine
and thirty one. That is really really good. And considering
that that's in a lot of losses, the rookies have adapted,
whether it be Homer on the road, Patrick Reed, Jordan's speed,
Justin Thomas Tony Fen now just recently debuting in road

(21:20):
Ryder Cups, have played very very well. That's why I
think guys that Ben Griffin, Cam Young, JJ Spawn, all
of them being rookies, they're going to be counted on
and I think that they're going to go out there
and play well good.

Speaker 1 (21:36):
I'm glad you told me that because I would have thought,
you know, I was kind of worried about the youth
and stuff like that.

Speaker 7 (21:42):
Rookies, Okay, good all these guys. And by the way,
just one little historical personal w f n Z Factory
about a rookie in the Ryder Cup.

Speaker 6 (21:50):
We were on the air.

Speaker 7 (21:51):
The Morning Sports Page, You've been on the air for
three months in nineteen ninety nine and Tom Riley called
the European team hotel. We got Sergio Garcia on the
Morning Sports Page the Wednesday of Ryder Cup week week
at seven eight a m. The answer of the phone
and came on the air. Yes, how about that?

Speaker 1 (22:12):
That is amazing and I was just done anything else
that That was his high note. He should have left
right then, should.

Speaker 4 (22:19):
Have That's that's what people like, the world has changed.
Gary of calling the hotels was a regular thing back
to day. Sometimes it would work for you or sometimes
myself called John Cruk one time welcome up. When he said,
don't you ever call? I got cussed out by John
cart mad.

Speaker 1 (22:37):
As hell at that. It's funny with Sergio because I
was getting ready to take a cheap shot at him
and him not being there, because my god, how good
was he in ryder cups And I hated that little dude.
But man, that was very nice of him because he.

Speaker 7 (22:48):
Could have went here he was he was nineteen years
old in nineteen ninety nine at Broquiet. He played his
ass off. I'll never forget another another WF. The alum
Mark Yarborough was so angry because his caddy was wearing
a do rag and he's like, I hate him, I
hate his caddy.

Speaker 1 (23:08):
Like really, it doesn't take much with yards Jata Firesome
hate at your.

Speaker 7 (23:16):
Simple as every reason. I mean, get him a birthday
cakes not big enough.

Speaker 2 (23:21):
I love.

Speaker 1 (23:23):
Oh, we had some gems.

Speaker 2 (23:24):
I love.

Speaker 1 (23:25):
I love the old fn Z history.

Speaker 4 (23:27):
Gary used to like it when Mark would play with
you guys who play the sound of Mark playing the
the instrument.

Speaker 7 (23:32):
Oh that was good.

Speaker 1 (23:32):
Y'all got him on that. That was good, all right.
Gary Williams is winners Here formerly of w f n
Z now five Clubs Golf Show on Golf Channel.

Speaker 2 (23:42):
Gary.

Speaker 1 (23:43):
Scottie Scheffler, that's one thing that that I love. I
love having him. First of all, I just love Scotty
scheffer I love the way he carries himself, what he
stands for, his perspective, all that stuff. But for the
Ryder Cup, I love the feeling of having this dude
in the form he's been in on our team. But
he had a rough go at rome. The overall wrecker,
you know, in limited Ryder Cup is just kind of average.

(24:04):
Do you feel like we could really use him being dominant?

Speaker 2 (24:08):
Like what?

Speaker 1 (24:09):
There is there a reason why he has not just
been dominant in the in the Ryder Cups? And do
you think he will be this time?

Speaker 7 (24:15):
Yeah? You know, And that's that's one of the challenges,
you know, when we evaluate this to try to really
dig in and try to determine how well as so
many did or didn't play based on the results of
a match because they're relying on a partner. And well
they got dump trucked him and brooks Kepka by Victor
Hoblin and Ludvig Obert nine and seven in a match.

(24:37):
But but but formally before that, in his debut, and
here's the thing, when when he debuted again another rookie,
he played really well at Listening Straits and at that time, guys,
he was kind of a surprise quote last man on
the side. He had yet to win a golf tournament
on the PGA Tour. And what did he do on Sunday?
John Rahm had been the best player for Europe that week.

(24:59):
He was four. Oh, Scotty Scheffler destroyed him in singles.
So I look what happened in Rome. No, he didn't
play particularly well. But back to your your question about
do they need him to be dominant? Unequivocally yes, they
need him. They cannot win this Ryder Cup if he
doesn't go. Let's say three to one and one, he's

(25:20):
playing all five sessions. I only think that they're likely
to be three players that do, and I think it's Scheffler, Rory,
maybe Rom and then for the United States again, depending
on if somebody goes out in his in his you know,
hot Friday morning. I think all twelve players for both
sides are going to play tomorrow in one session or

(25:42):
the other. I don't think either team is going to
show up on Saturday without a player having played a match.
But Scheffler has got to be the best player. He's
got to be the best player for the United States.
He's got to be the best player in this And
here's the thing. He is the best player. He is
the best and you know, to what you said, Mac,
there's a lot to admire about him. I love him.

(26:03):
I love the fact that the guy even showing up
in Napa, you know, Scotti, Shepperd didn't mean you to
go to Napa o it and then to maybe knock
a little rust off like nine other guys on the
American team did, which I applaud them for going and
playing in that event because they didn't play before Rome,
and they had all had like five weeks of non
competitive activity. He shows up every week and fights his

(26:26):
ass off, and I admire him for the way that
he competes. It's one thing that elite skill, it's another
thing to use every shot as an individual competition, and
he does that. He's a generational player.

Speaker 4 (26:40):
Gary, the Bryson critics have been back out here in
the last week or so. What do you think of
Bryson right now, not only for his game of for
his game, but the fan favorite that he's become and
the way that he's trying to grow the game through
his YouTube showing all that he does.

Speaker 7 (26:58):
Yeah, look, I think he I've been around him a
fair amount, not recently obviously because he's playing on live.
I actually played in a pro am with him early
on in his career. I think he is He's obviously
very interesting. I think he's a peculiar guy. I think
some people looking and go, you're a poser. This is

(27:19):
you know, this is show business.

Speaker 6 (27:20):
Yeah, it actually is show business.

Speaker 7 (27:22):
And to your point about his audience, he left the
PGA Tours of Pariah. Currently he is among the most
popular players easily in the world. He has an enormous
young audience that follows him. And the other thing about
him that I appreciate is that he has evolved as
a player. He was a very one dimensional guy for

(27:45):
a long period of time. He couldn't play, wasn't competitive
at the Masters, He had no record at the Open Championship.
What has he done over the last three years. He
has not only one another major. He was in the
final group of the Masters, he had three great rounds
after a dreadful opening round of the Old up In Championship.
He has become a very, very reliable putter, and most importantly,

(28:06):
in this environment, there is nobody who will feed off
it more than he will. Nobody on the American team
will drive the decibel level up more than he will.
He is a huge factor in this event and I
expect him. Some people don't think he's gonna play an
alternate shot. I disagree. You don't bench one of the
five best players in the world because you think he

(28:26):
is kind of sideways with his driver. First of all,
there's no rough at Bethpage that that is supposed to
be an American advantage. I don't think is as much
now as it used to be, because I think these
two teams are very similar stylistically. D Chambeau is a huge,
huge chip for the United States, and I expect him.

(28:46):
I expect him to do what he's gonna do, which
is to make this place even louder than it could
possibly be.

Speaker 1 (28:51):
That's gonna be awesome. I can't wait to see it.
And I say, take that Brandall Shambley. All right, I
say take that Gary. I know, I know you know him,
you're friendly with him and stuff. He comes across, He okay,
the good good, Then you can explain him to me.
All right, he comes across, like is he like trying
to be Golf's I don't want to say Steve and
A because not like he's screaming, but like he he

(29:14):
likes these like going after Bryson, and I don't think
he's gonna be a good teammate, Like and you just
told us why you think he's so valuable this week?
Like is he trying to get headlines? What is his like,
what's what's up with Randall?

Speaker 3 (29:25):
You know?

Speaker 7 (29:26):
Look I think that. And I actually was texting him
this morning. There's a there's a very good article. And
again I'm not I'm not.

Speaker 1 (29:34):
You like who you like.

Speaker 6 (29:35):
And that's how we are.

Speaker 7 (29:36):
We all have things that we're inclined to be attracted to,
and other things were not. And that includes people what
I would say about him, and having worked with him
and done some shows with him through the years, there
is nobody I've ever been around who is more prepared.
It doesn't mean that I am complicit and I agree

(29:57):
with everything that he says. There I'm as a matter
of fact, at the PGA in twenty nineteen here at Betpage,
we went to dinner and he and I got in
a down and out Donnie Brooke debate argument about Graham McDowell.
Of all people, and three of the people at dinner left,
They got ubers and left because here's the thing. He
grew up in a household full of lawyers, so he

(30:19):
sat at dinner every night and all his family did
was arguing debate. He's inclined, he's litigious. He wants to
choke you out of your opinion. But like Johnny Miller,
who for years and years when they would do polls,
who's your favorite, who's your least favorite, who do you likes,
who do you hate, he'd win both polls, and Branda
is similar in that respect. He is not doing it

(30:42):
as a performative artist. He is he is digging in
in ways quantitatively, data driven, historical, references not to mention
in eloquence with the language that is lethal. He is,
I think, is as good as anybody.

Speaker 1 (30:58):
Doing what he does.

Speaker 7 (30:58):
There are a lot of people covers forts who I
think are lazy, who are not inclined because they know
these athletes to not take them on. He's not looking
to make enemies. He's looking to make an argument. And
sometimes it pisses people off. A lot of times it does.
But I'm telling you he's not doing it to get
likes or to get attention.

Speaker 2 (31:19):
He is.

Speaker 7 (31:20):
That's just the way that he is. But I will
tell you if we went to dinner, the four of
us went to dinner, you would find to be him
to be utterly delightful. Then if you said something you
disagree with, then you would have a debate for an hour.
Then he would pay for He would pay the check,
and you would read.

Speaker 1 (31:36):
I love it. I love was that a real invited dinner, Gary,
because we can make that work. I definitely think that
was next year.

Speaker 7 (31:43):
Next year, if he comes, if he comes to to
Quell Hall for the Truest Championship, I will get you
with him. He is a delightful guy. If you debate him,
you will be exhausted. Keep running a marathon.

Speaker 1 (31:56):
Seriously, like debate. I like the way Gary said everybody
else at dinner left again. That actually our listeners told
us they were leaving an hour ago. Gary, when I
was screaming at Bone for about four minutes, they said,
I have enough of that.

Speaker 7 (32:11):
Do one thing for me. If the United States wins,
can you do a victory dance like you did this
past week when the Panthers got off the schneid. Yeah,
and won their first game. By the way, that is
that is utter hilarity.

Speaker 8 (32:25):
Uh.

Speaker 7 (32:25):
And I don't know where you guys bought those jackets.
I hope you have. I don't know. Do you have
a bunch. Do you have like a closet full of them?

Speaker 1 (32:32):
No, we got we got one, we got Bone bought
them both.

Speaker 2 (32:34):
I'm not.

Speaker 4 (32:36):
I'm not allowed to because obviously we do those on Monday,
so I don't know the results. So every once in
a while I try to think of maybe something in advance,
because I have to do it in advance. So my
my idea for Monday will be at all time where
they have to win on Sunday. That's the only rub though,
if you try to play it is have you here
to screw it up?

Speaker 1 (32:55):
Gary? Do you think do you think Johnny Harrison and
crew would be okay with me out of a formal
dinner at Quail wearing one of those jackets? Do you think?

Speaker 7 (33:02):
Uh? The answer is emphatically know. I don't think the
it has been has been revoked in perpetuity.

Speaker 4 (33:12):
Yeah, we watched those dances. We think to ourselves, why
would they what us that Quail?

Speaker 1 (33:16):
And that's uh, yeah, that's all good. Hey, we know
our role, Gary, we know our role in this town,
baby lat expertly. Thank you for that, and you play
your role expertly. Tell everybody when they can see you
on uh on Golf Channel. When's the show on golf
I appreciate it.

Speaker 3 (33:31):
Yeah.

Speaker 7 (33:32):
So we are Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday.

Speaker 1 (33:34):
Uh, we we are.

Speaker 7 (33:36):
We are in Charlotte. You know, I'm very proud to
you know, not only be living there again, but be
doing the show from a studio on North Triumph. So
we are Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, live at eight am. Uh.
And it's simulcast on. It's up against you guys, but
it's also simon cast on. We're the only show ever
in the history of Golf Channel be simulcast on Series
x M. So proud of that. And then this week

(33:57):
I'm doing when when golf is over on Friday, Saturday
and Sunday, I will be on the Ryder Cup Radio
which is PJ Tour Radio Channel ninety two on serious
Sex Salm and then back on the air on Monday.
I've got Dan Hicks and Graham mcdoll of all people,
the man that I had a knockdown drag out Donny Brooke,
Hard's been with Joe Brandle shambling about who wasn't even
in the PGA Championship field in twenty nineteen to argue

(34:20):
with you about anything. But yes, I'll be doing the
post round a post round tomorrow, Saturday and Sunday on
Serious Sex.

Speaker 1 (34:26):
All right, brother, you're kicking ass man, and we're so
happy to see you kick an ass like that. And
back in Charlotte, keep it up and thanks for as always,
thanks for the insight on golf man.

Speaker 7 (34:35):
Always good to be with you guys, Thanks so much.

Speaker 1 (34:37):
All right, be good there you go. That is Gary Williams.

Speaker 4 (34:40):
Now you ever know, it's always amazing to me like
who might love the dances because you think that person
probably doesn't love. Gary's a dance fan. Langston Warts Junior
is a massive He's always he loves your dancing.

Speaker 1 (34:53):
He does. Yeah, And I'm telling you this is what
it is. We make people feel good about themselves. People
are like, you know what, but I thought I was
a bad dancer. Of these guys, you know what I mean?
Like these like I just add dancer in poor shape.
Oh my god. Yeah, that's the thing. When I was
younger bone back when the Panthers would actually win more
than five games in a season and we would have

(35:14):
to do more victory dances, I felt like I was
in better shape. Now I got nothing. Now, man, I
need a damn oxygen mask on hand for these things.
Maybe we're out of shape because the Panthers don't win enough.
That's true. You don't get the reps twenty fifteen had
as That is it right there? I feel like you
had an app I feel like there's one what I say.

Speaker 4 (35:34):
There one single ab when we when we come back
to wrap up Sports RADIOZ.

Speaker 2 (35:47):
Dodgers the Lading Party.

Speaker 1 (35:50):
Then that was shady, very shady, very shady.

Speaker 2 (35:58):
You still look a little sluggish on that, and you've
been appreciating that was a nice word I used.

Speaker 8 (36:06):
Yeah, trying to do whatever it takes to me clicking
side every it takes me doing whatever it teats.

Speaker 4 (36:18):
Yeah, there's David Newton of ESPN dot com and Bryce
Young having an awkward exchange about sliding the Dodgers MLB,
Vashti and Sheena also involved there. That's the New York
Butcher Shop cut of the day. Check out their daily
spectals and meal deals on Instagram. N Y Butcher Wine Bar,
Cornelius dill Ward's Fort Mill and Indian Land also and

(36:41):
Carrie and in November in Belmont, Get him New, Get
him New New. And Bryce need to go to New
York Butcher Shop. I'm trying to hash this thing.

Speaker 1 (36:49):
They can they can have one of those dinners like
Branda Shambilely and Gary and just where you just argue.
Bryce had such a smile on his face and then
he calls him big dog. I was dying. Sheena and
vash are dying laughing in the background. That's a great clip.
Great clip. Now, I will say this though, Bryce Newt
was a little bit of a pest there, all right, Bryce,
I get it, but you really got to work God's

(37:10):
like and then it's so funny because you could tell
bone he did to his credit on the run that
was disallowed the other day on a hold would have
been a first down. It was great play, but you
can tell like he wanted to slide right, he didn't
want to do what he did in Jacksonmone fumbled the
ball away. But was that not the most awkward looking slide?
Like I feel like you could go out to a
little league field with like T ball players that are

(37:31):
just sliding for the first time and see a better
like he just kind of sat himself down. It was
very odd.

Speaker 4 (37:37):
Hey, they brought a slipping slide out for Caleb Williams
this summer, or not just Kaleb Williams, the Bears quarterback
coach does it for all the quarterbacks to work on
their sliding.

Speaker 1 (37:45):
That's why Newt. If you heard it in there, Newton says,
would you try to slip his slide?

Speaker 2 (37:49):
Oh? I didn't.

Speaker 4 (37:50):
Yeah, I'm sorry that the audio was a little bit.
I couldn't really hear that part of it.

Speaker 1 (37:53):
That is what solicited the big dog. Okay, I had it,
but it was a little bit in the background. Flipp
it slot whatever it takes, big dog. Oh God. David
Newton can produce some moments, mane some moments.

Speaker 2 (38:06):
All right.

Speaker 1 (38:07):
Anyway, we got football tonight. Shout out to ECU and
Pirate Nation. Hope you all get a win tonight. Houser's
got to protect the football. Those interceptions were killer against BYU.
They were hanging in there and then they're driving. He
throws one in the end zone trying to go into score.
And then later in the game, Bone throws a Pennix
esque pick six. You never want to go to full

(38:27):
Pennix on a pick six out there in the flat
and did no, you never want to do that. So, anyway,
did you see Chris Simms? By the way, Chris Simms declared,
Michael Pennix played as bad as you can play the
quarterback position in an NFL game.

Speaker 4 (38:42):
Does that mean the Panners defense played as good as
the defense can.

Speaker 1 (38:45):
Play the NFL? You thought what he was trying to say?
I didn't I miss that part there, Chrissy, I missed
that part. Oh we met. I'm gonna say that Avero
had him confused, young quarterback. Avero mixed up the looks
Bone between blitzes, then showing blitz's and back and off,
then just flat out second half a lot of soft stuff.
I just think Pennix was utterly confused. I want to

(39:06):
take some credit for that. I think so too, just
at least a little bit. Even if Adam Gold won't
get whatever it was he was, he was shaking up
in that game, not injury wise, but mentally. He was
way out of it. Whatever it takes, big dog, you
know what I mean, whatever it takes. All right, let's
read some of these texts. You're seven O four five
seven nine six ten w F and c fandel text line.
So he's he was hosting Army tonight and then also

(39:28):
aona you forget that game. It's probably not going to
be all right horrible. It means something, but it's not sexy.

Speaker 4 (39:37):
Yeah yeah, let's a good way. Go ahead the Monday
night games and tell me that this one's.

Speaker 1 (39:40):
Not better than us alm. Here we we do the
Thursday night games on al Michael snore meter bone when
he how how loud would his snoring be?

Speaker 4 (39:50):
It will be two bags that think it's probably a
close game.

Speaker 2 (39:52):
So here we go.

Speaker 1 (39:53):
All right, here we go.

Speaker 4 (39:54):
Let's Dolphins on Monday, where the Dolphins are wearing like
their new uh those new Uni forms about that they're
putting out, like what do they call you know, the
ones where teams are doing it like for four years,
the division, the rivalry uniforms. Yeah, the Dolphins have those.
They look like something out of any given Sunday. I
actually kind of like those Dolphins. Yeah, I know they

(40:14):
got blasted on Twitter. I kind of like, here's the
problem for viewers. There's still going to be the Dolphins.

Speaker 1 (40:19):
It's true. You could even put on nice uniforms. Although
I don't know this. Something about the black hewlet makes
us play better. I feel like, all right, let's see
what we have here. Seven O four five seven oh
nine six tent on the fan dual text line. Some
people taking issue bying the fact that I was yelling
at you. I was yelling at texters that were correcting
me earlier. Today, this texture says you both need to
always be calm and professional, like Willie p oh, Yeah,

(40:42):
that's that's the definition of calm. We'll try better, try better, sir.
Party party pastor Marty says, you guys need to call
and schedule some marriage counseling. You could learn to focus
on each other's strengths and not your weaknesses. So I
think he thinks Bone that I should up doing the
no listening We should stop doing the no listening tracker

(41:04):
and focus on Hey, what Bone does do good? Bone's
got a good sense of here has a funny joke. Bone, Yeah,
you know what I mean. So you should do that
instead of keep track of the negative things.

Speaker 4 (41:12):
Mac, You're not as loud as people make you out
to be. By the way, Mack, do I know that's
a lie?

Speaker 2 (41:16):
Did?

Speaker 4 (41:16):
We were talked last week about the texture And this
is not mocking by any means his wife or his beliefs.

Speaker 1 (41:23):
I don't mean that, but the way he worded it
to us.

Speaker 4 (41:26):
We had a text or mat that say goodbye to
us last week because he basically told us in a
text that God told him that he shouldn't listen to
Mac and Bon show anymore.

Speaker 1 (41:36):
Last week that's what he said.

Speaker 4 (41:37):
Yeah, yeah, he's got some stuff going on in his
life and he evaluated some stuff and per his conversations
with God, the Mac and Bone show had to go
how do you?

Speaker 1 (41:48):
By the way, did the God narc ont Us like,
what's going on here? The big guy? Big guy? Where
are we going wrong? Where are we gone wrong? Not
to get your endorsement. I'm Mark from Gastonia. Suppose how
was that? O care Mass?

Speaker 2 (41:59):
What did it?

Speaker 3 (42:00):
Good?

Speaker 2 (42:00):
Word?

Speaker 1 (42:00):
Mark?

Speaker 4 (42:00):
You please put me come on God want them know. Hey,
these guys are good man. That's an interesting one right there.
I've not heard that before. AJ said Mac must have
gotten a fresh dose of high tea this morning. McDonald's.

Speaker 1 (42:12):
They got a little fired up. I don't know why.
Usually when I get my McDonald's, my belly's full, I'm happy,
and that didn't work out today for me. All right,
what else do we have going on here?

Speaker 2 (42:21):
Bone h?

Speaker 1 (42:22):
Somebody says, I didn't know that crackling sound had something
to do with the signal. I thought Fitty was loud
chewing in the background. This texter says, not only is
Fitty the station the W and WFNZ stands for Fitty,
is that Fitty's burner? That has to be his burner?
Unnamed texter U n C. Clemson should be called the
cheeks Bowl. Oh, that's what we're talking. Different level of

(42:44):
cheeks though, that's the problem. That game did get the
nude treatment, by the ways, well played, sir, Yeah, Clemson's
becoming a noon stapleum. Though I heard they asked, is
there any way put this even earlier? And nine am,
we'll put it on. Put it on during the premier
leag game on Station TV. Pumps. All right, we're out
of here, y'all. We do get fitting back tomorrow. Fitty

(43:05):
took a little staycation. He'll be back tomorrow. But Flound,
it was a pleasure man. You worked with us for
a while here. We always love work with you, even
though you wore the Drake May jersey to troll us today.
We got love for baby, got love for you, Drake,
go Drake every week with this one. All right, all right,
we got to get out of here. Good work out

(43:25):
of the bone Man and Flound filling in for the
fit Dog. It'll be a football Friday next week. I
want a Panther up. Do I have the courage or
do I just pick against the Panthers because it worked
last week?

Speaker 3 (43:37):
Bone?

Speaker 2 (43:38):
I don't know.

Speaker 1 (43:38):
I have so many questions, asked myself. We got college
football games to talk about, and the Ryder couple be
on live too while we're on the air, so that
it'll be fun. We'll talk to you tomorrow. Colin Hoggard,
Charlotte Sports Today coming up, and I am told he
has a baseball Savannah on to talk baseball. I'm on
this show. Yeah, that's you. Row see what I said.
I'm trying to I'm focusing on your positives, like Pastermorrow,

(44:00):
he said, bone Costa. All right, we're out of here.
Y'all will talk to you tomorrow Friday. Dirty kicks done
by fits, Dirty kicks done by fits. Dirty kicks done
by fits, dirty kicks in. We don't kick deep, dirty kicks.
You don't kick deep. Why don't you shut the bleep up?

(44:23):
Ninja guy? You're listening to us, baby, Hold up a minute.
Daddy went and got himself some cookies on that play.
That kick is so naughty. That kick is dirty.

Speaker 8 (44:32):
Every it takes me doing whatever it is.

Speaker 1 (44:33):
You're just poking and poking and poking. Why don't you
shut the bleep up? Ninja guy? You're listening to us, baby.

Speaker 7 (44:39):
Hey, I appreciate you guys.

Speaker 2 (44:40):
Stick sure, doll
