Speaker 2 (00:10):
My name is I'm Willpelgic.

Speaker 3 (00:15):
Positive panther fans just giving me the business on the
text line, Bone just furious with me for not believing
I'm a little scarred, y'all, I'm a little scarred. But yes,
as Bone says, the jet skis are a nightmare. And
I actually like the fact that Justin Fields is playing.
You better spy him, though, EJ. There better be a
spy on that man. Load the box, make him throw

(00:38):
a downfield. But spy that man.

Speaker 4 (00:40):
Interesting that he's not throwing an interception this year yet,
by the way, because I don't think the balls go
anywhere near the defensive player.

Speaker 3 (00:47):
He's totally missing his target and the guy covering his
target mats.

Speaker 4 (00:51):
Before we get to Willie p somehow is angry at
us and we're not sure why what did we do?
Let's spin the wheel here, Mac of the names on
our show name wheel. This is uh Coworkers Guests friends
of the program like Chris Paul, Luke, Eikley or whoever
this land's on at ninety five video will have to
contact this person to see me Happy birthday. I want

(01:13):
to do this for you next week. Oh yeah, here

wheel here, wheel broke? Oh no, screen frow. So we're
gonna we'll do this here, got this big build up
the wheel the uh the wheel uh is broken? Is
P man on the wheel?

Speaker 2 (01:31):
Oh, he's definitely on.

Speaker 3 (01:32):
Oh so he could be informed here, he could be
asked here at some point.

Speaker 2 (01:35):
All right, so I will interrupt the show here at
some point what you know? The screen fro get that wheel?
Where the big build up here?

Speaker 3 (01:40):
So bone gets someone to sing happy birthday to him
and the damn wheel breaks. All right, let's freak on
Ashley strowline right now, get poor Strow. Let's bring in
the P man, the voice of FC and to do everything.
Man at w f n Z, P man, Why are
you upset with us?

Speaker 2 (01:55):
Man? What's going on?

Speaker 5 (01:57):
First off?

Speaker 6 (01:57):
In the words of Larry Bird in the very famous
Michael Jordan ad in nineteen ninety six, I'm not gonna
sing so very fad.

Speaker 2 (02:05):
That's so good.

Speaker 3 (02:07):
I like that. It's well played right there, well played.
You're on the list and this is the uh, it's official,
like you have to do it.

Speaker 5 (02:12):
I will say, had a birthday to you. Ba, but
I ain't saying for you.

Speaker 4 (02:15):
Well, you didn't wait in the wheel yet, So now
you're upstarting with us about something here, and we're upset
with you, so we're gonna have an upset.

Speaker 6 (02:23):
Yeah, what are you You guys think that I actually
reported your video? Is that?

Speaker 5 (02:29):
Is that? It is? This?

Speaker 6 (02:30):
Is this the Is this the accusation that you're leving
upon me? All I did was take a screenshot, put
three circles on there, and then throw it on the feed.

Speaker 5 (02:39):
Well what what?

Speaker 4 (02:40):
What?

Speaker 6 (02:40):
What gain would I have to report your video.

Speaker 3 (02:43):
For Somebody reported fit somebody reported it for adult content
a couple of weeks ago, apparently because of Fitty disrobing,
and we thought maybe this meant it was you, that's all,
And if you do that, it might be in the
best interest of eyesight everywhere. Then, I mean, I mean,
am I going to sit here and tell you that
I wasn't visually bothered by what I saw in the video?

Speaker 5 (03:07):
Absolutely, but I'm.

Speaker 6 (03:09):
I'm I'm also not going to uh, I'm not.

Speaker 7 (03:11):
I'm not going to restrict free speech.

Speaker 4 (03:16):
Also made comments in the many comments on Twitter like
you were you were kind of like not impressed with
our dancing like you were working.

Speaker 2 (03:25):
Did I did?

Speaker 6 (03:26):
I say I was not impressed. I just said it
was bothersome. I just said it was bothersome. Is the
two the two things that bothered me, the bikini.

Speaker 5 (03:36):
And the harmonica?

Speaker 6 (03:37):
That the the trumpet monica's got to stop. I'm warns
it's not it's a harmonica. It's not a harmonica. It's
a victory horn. And by the way, this week, if
they win, uh, we're doing celebrity involvement in some of these.
Now you are up on Monday if the Panthers win.

Speaker 5 (03:58):
Is that a fact?

Speaker 2 (03:59):
Yep?

Speaker 5 (04:00):
Okay?

Speaker 2 (04:01):
Does that mean you're in?

Speaker 5 (04:05):
It depends.

Speaker 6 (04:05):
I have to take my father and mother to the
airport on Monday.

Speaker 2 (04:10):
You know the way. Stop in this man.

Speaker 3 (04:14):
By the way, I am not mad at all at
p He did not say anything about my horrible dancing. No,
you just call out your prop and fidties. No.

Speaker 5 (04:23):
Now, I I got, I got, I got other issues
with you, McClain.

Speaker 2 (04:26):
Oh well, let's just do this.

Speaker 3 (04:28):
Let's just do Let's just make Willy's World Willy's issues
of the day.

Speaker 2 (04:32):
What's your issue with me?

Speaker 6 (04:34):
Get your grimy hands off of my coach and my
wife's coach, maybe Penn State has to suck.

Speaker 5 (04:41):
For a while. Would that be the worst thing in
the world.

Speaker 3 (04:43):
Do you mean they don't They didn't fire a coach
that had seven double digit win seasons and pay forty
nine million to do it to suck, you know, they
gotta go big man, and I'm your coach.

Speaker 2 (04:54):
Yeah, I wouldn't mind your coach.

Speaker 5 (04:56):
I'm telling you.

Speaker 6 (04:56):
I'm telling you if those people trying to pressure somebody
who was literally in the national semi final a year ago,
last year, like not even twelve months ago, was in
the national semi final, and they're firing him for being
on a three game losing streak, maybe being a little arrogant.
Maybe that fan base doesn't deserve to be happy.

Speaker 2 (05:15):
Listen. I don't like this.

Speaker 3 (05:16):
I like the way they treated them, but like it
was coming close to put up or shut up time
for Franklin anyway, And then when this happened, like eventually
they were going to probably part ways to see if
they can find someone to get them to this.

Speaker 6 (05:28):
In the country, how many programs in the country would
give their left you know what.

Speaker 5 (05:33):
To be in Penn State shooes right now? Many?

Speaker 2 (05:36):
Right now?

Speaker 3 (05:36):
I don't know about right now. They look horrendous right now.
But you ain't gonna get me to turn on James Franklin.
I think he's a heck of a football coach. I
actually hope a school like NC State would hire them,
but like it was, it was time to part ways.

Speaker 6 (05:50):
Well, if they hire Eli drink Wiz, it'll be the
first time since Dan Divine that a Missouri coach left
for a better job. So maybe that maybe that's a justify.

Speaker 3 (06:00):
I'm not worry I'm not looking at your coach. I'm
looking at missus Pea's coach. And I apologize because missus
P holds that whole household together. Uh, she puts up
with you twenty four to seven. I got so much
respect for missus P. But I want them to try
to offer Kirk Signetti five gazillion.

Speaker 6 (06:15):
And I just Dana's got deeper Indiana's got deeper pockets
than you realize.

Speaker 3 (06:19):
I'll just say that, Okay, we're gonna have a deep pocket.

Speaker 4 (06:22):
Off the word on the street. The school you have
to worry about for Eli Drinkowitz might be the Florida Gators.

Speaker 5 (06:29):
I'm not worried about it. I'm not worried about I'm
not worried about.

Speaker 2 (06:31):
That comes from on three Sports. That's not me about
the fight Mark.

Speaker 6 (06:35):
I'm not worried about the fighting Mark, Ryan's and there
Jeordian games though.

Speaker 2 (06:38):
All right, let's talk about the Panthers.

Speaker 3 (06:40):
Me Let's Pete came in hot with all kinds of
issues with everybody. Everybody on the show got an issue
handed out from p Pee. What do you think about
our conversation we just had. I I'm not saying we're
gonna lose the game, but I'm just kind of uneasy
because these are the type of spots where the Panthers
would break our heart on the road when they're supposed
to win, when we start thinking they've turned a corner.

(07:02):
Do you have any paranoia about this game against the
Jets or do you say no, not at all.

Speaker 6 (07:08):
I got plenty of paranoia because I've picked them in
similar spots before to either go to Locke City or
be an easy winner, and they've let me down. I'm
not gonna sit here and say that I'm not favoring
the Panthers. I think that there was generally a favorite
probably pick them to win. But the problem is we've

(07:28):
also seen very many demonstrated examples of them coming up
short in these spots before, and a lot of times
it happens of their own volition, whether it's a turnover,
whether it's a bad play Xavier League get laterals to
Rico Daubell, I mean, they're crazy. Stuff happens with this team,
and give them full credit for the last two weeks.

Speaker 5 (07:49):
I'm not sitting here. I'm not sitting here and saying I.

Speaker 6 (07:51):
Haven't been impressed with what they've done the last two weeks.

Speaker 5 (07:53):
I think this.

Speaker 6 (07:54):
Past week incredibly impressive, what they did against Dallas Cowboys,
and in a normal circumstance, independent of everything else that's
on the line, Jets so and sixth C and so on,
he would say in a vacuum, this game is an
easy pant of victory. But I also think from what
it would take to get to being.

Speaker 2 (08:13):
Over five hundred.

Speaker 6 (08:14):
You mention the Adam goldstat the last six times they've
pried it, uh, they've gone and then lost. So I'm
gonna sit here and say this, a victory over the
Jets this weekend will be more transformational than anything that's
happened so far, because it will.

Speaker 5 (08:28):
It will show you.

Speaker 2 (08:29):
It would show so turn the corner.

Speaker 5 (08:30):
It would show you that.

Speaker 6 (08:31):
They've turned the corner. And I'm not saying they can't
do it.

Speaker 5 (08:34):
I'm just saying I'm not touching the money like you. Yeah.

Speaker 4 (08:36):
Okay, By the way, we have to contact our boss,
jeff Rickord this thing. Happy Birthday at nine, that's where
the weel actually landed.

Speaker 2 (08:44):
He came up there.

Speaker 5 (08:46):
You know, he's you know, he's on the air right now.

Speaker 3 (08:48):
I believe let's do a syl Let's do a simulcast
where he's on the Indie Morning show, We're on the
Charlotte Morning Show. He runs both stations and he just
sings ons, sing it to me over there and send
it to us.

Speaker 6 (09:02):
Listening to his show last week in Indiana, it's it.

Speaker 2 (09:06):
Was there, all right, man, trying to get himself in trouble.

Speaker 4 (09:11):
Will What do you think? What do you think is
real with this team? While you're still here? What do
you think is real with this team? And what's fool's gold?
In regards to the Panthers, I think what's real.

Speaker 6 (09:22):
Is the run game and as long as Canal is
fixed with it, and I think that's the part of
it that is uh, that's still somewhat I think under
review because you wonder about the last two teams who
have had very poor rush defenses. The thing about it is,
I still wonder whether or not the defense can play
well enough in games where they are at or even
the opposition offense in order to win football games consistently,

(09:45):
because there's.

Speaker 2 (09:46):
Still plenty of moments.

Speaker 6 (09:47):
In games where you see them somewhat out class, like
George Pickens against the Dallas Cowboys early against Miami when
when they were given short fields. I think it's it's
very very evident to see where they are still vulnerable,
particularly the tight end and also with the boundary.

Speaker 5 (10:03):
And there's still, you know, some part.

Speaker 6 (10:04):
Of it in my mind that believes that even though
they've done very very well against the run, a team
like the Jets with Bryce Hall, if they if they
commit to the run, could very well give the Panthers
some problems. And also not to mention a mobile quarterback
like justin Fields. So from the standpoint of where we sit,
you know, there are things that are still somewhat under review,

(10:25):
But I think the run.

Speaker 5 (10:26):
Game is still very very good.

Speaker 6 (10:27):
And I also think too the way Bryce Young has
played up against adversity I think needs to be acknowledged
and lauded and applauded because he's definitely come full circle
I think around to where we saw him at the
end of last year. Again, the numbers aren't statistically gaudy,
but I think he's played very, very well, despite making
some mistakes still that make you kind of wonder, hey,

(10:49):
is this still the same guy? So I do think
that the things on offense feel more real than the
defense at this point.

Speaker 3 (10:57):
I let's talk about FCP man. We're all caught up
in the Panthers in college football. FC was off last
week for the international break. But what's about to happen
with Charlotte f C and I don't need to tell
you is some real important stuff, some intense stuff, and
could be fun. It really could be. They've got the
decision Day final match where they have a chance.

Speaker 5 (11:18):
I know.

Speaker 3 (11:18):
The simplest scenario is if they win, they have the
four seed and then that first best of three series
they will have home field advantage for that. Oh, by
the way, they're playing the team that is the best
team in the dang league in Philadelphia. Hopefully they're getting
a little healthier for this. What do you think, P man,
talk to us about what do you feel like this

(11:38):
team's going to do on Saturday nights. It feels really
important to get the four seed and have home field
with as good as we are at the bank.

Speaker 6 (11:47):
What do you think It's incredibly important because that's something
that the organization stated very very aptly and very demonstratively
at the end of last year. They thought that, hey,
if they would have gotten second home game against Orlando,
they would have gotten through and then as a result,
they would have had home field advantage throughout the rest
of the postseason because of how top to turvy the

(12:07):
results were in the rest of the Eastern Conference postseason.
So it is incredibly important because of how much is
on that first round series the rest of the rounds
or knockout stage, so they feel more like singular entities.
But the fact that you get a second chance at
home if you split the first two is incredibly important.
And I also think too, if it ends up being

(12:29):
New York City opposite them, that's one less game in
a baseball stadium, which we know Charlott of FFC has
not had success doing that over the course of their history.
So from that perspective, it's very very important as far
as Philadelphia goes. I still have a hard time feeling
like Philadelphia is gonna give everything they need to.

Speaker 5 (12:46):
In this game.

Speaker 2 (12:47):
Yes, because of the.

Speaker 6 (12:47):
Fact that everything is basically clinched and not it up
for them. There's nothing in this game for them. I
know Bradley Carnell is a coach who maybe values momentum
a little bit more than other coaches and doesn't want
to necessarily sit people.

Speaker 2 (12:58):
But I do think they believe.

Speaker 6 (13:00):
That they can win with their system, regardless of the
players that they put out there. So I do expect
a rotated squad, and I do expect Charlotte FC to
come out with some kind of result, whether or not
they get the help. New York City play Seattle a tough,
tough contest at home for them themselves. All Charlotte C
he has to do is better than New York City
on Saturday, and they're in that fourth seed. So either
a draw for New York and a draw for Charlotte CE,

(13:22):
or just to win out right for Charlotte and there's
nothing anybody else can do.

Speaker 3 (13:25):
God, this is going to be This is kind of
like a playoff game.

Speaker 2 (13:27):
Right, I mean, you're in the playoffs.

Speaker 3 (13:28):
But it feels like if you can win this one
against the best team out there at home at the Bank,
you feel like this is very meaningful to get home fields.
So Charlotte Footballclub dot com and get your tickets.

Speaker 2 (13:40):
It's going to be an.

Speaker 3 (13:41):
Intense atmosphere on Saturday, six o'clock, five point thirty on
the air for Willie and Anna Bonemail Bone just brought
something in here for you, Willie.

Speaker 2 (13:52):
What do you go to the swine here? What do
you go you gotta do? Let them do the swine here?
Oh okay, all.

Speaker 6 (13:57):
Right now we I did we cover everybody? I think
everybody early on. I think I think everybody everybody got
them self covered. Everybody got them self covered early.

Speaker 3 (14:05):
Are you sure you don't want to hand on the
bone right now? He's playing the horn.

Speaker 1 (14:09):
I can't.

Speaker 5 (14:10):
I can't give a man a swan on his birthday.

Speaker 2 (14:13):
Even Willie's got some limits to swining.

Speaker 3 (14:15):
Willie Texter says he fears it's a ben Bender, ben
Bender revenge, revenge, buckle up game at the Bank.

Speaker 5 (14:24):
He is, he is there. George Marks is there too.
You know there's there could.

Speaker 2 (14:29):
Be this game?

Speaker 3 (14:30):
All right, man, Hey have a good call dude, I'm
gonna be listening to y'all as I'm watching it, and
I can't wait for the playoffs to get going. For
FC Man, you're gonna be You're gonna be great as
always calling him. Appreciate you, brother, and remember victory dance.
If we win, you're you're the guest answer bankin your family.

Speaker 2 (14:47):
All right?

Speaker 5 (14:48):
Do we do we get playoff?

Speaker 2 (14:50):
Mac?

Speaker 5 (14:50):
If if we get a home game, yeah.

Speaker 3 (14:52):
I'm definitely going to the playoff game. But you don't
want to be there, do you?

Speaker 5 (14:56):
I have concern?

Speaker 3 (14:58):
Get him out of here, Get him out? You can say,
play off for that team they won last year at home. Yeah,
we've already clinched. We're safe. I was at the game
last year. They won on the penalty shootout against Orlando.
The problem is they went and got screwed by the
ref in Orlando after that.

Speaker 4 (15:10):
By the way, Jeff Jeff Rickards on the air at
nine to forty five, he's gonna try to call in
and sing. If not, the backup will be on the wheel.
Grace Grill, our former friend here that's now in Baltimore,
has been contacted that she's the backup singer. How does
she feel she responded, or no, she hasn't responded yet. Okay,
all right, so this is this is an interesting dynamic here, man, Somebody,

(15:31):
damn it, somebody to me.

Speaker 3 (15:33):
We've got multiple Marriln Monroe, Jeff Rickers by Marilyn Monroe.
You think he's gonna do a breathy tone when he sings.
Bebop has offered to sing to your bone if you
need somebody. I'd rather not even make it through my
birthday than how that happen.

Speaker 2 (15:45):
I got. Oh my god.

Speaker 4 (15:48):
When we come back back, we're really excited for the
job this man is doing. We have not talked to
him yet. He's the head coach of the Wake Forest
Demon Deacons. Jake Dicker talks about the success and how
they're doing it in Winston in Year one Sports Radio
ninety two seven WFNZ.

Speaker 3 (16:19):
Sports Radio ninety two seven WFNZ Mac and Bone with you.
You said it Bone our next guest man. He's got
those boys in Winston playing some really good football. Did
it with Deshan Purty this week one has won three
games with Robbie Ashford at starting quarterback. They seem to
really be hitting their stride right now. They are four

(16:40):
and two out of the gate. And I will say this,
Bony he got raved, This is going to mean a
lot to him. He got great grades from us when
we did it, we did our midterm grading of the
of the performances in the Carolinas.

Speaker 2 (16:54):
He got an A from me.

Speaker 3 (16:55):
I know that he is Jake Dickert, head coach of
the Demon Deacons. At coach, I'm sure this stuff means
a lot to you, probably not quite as much as
the wins. Congratulations go on your success so far. How
you doing?

Speaker 5 (17:09):
Wow? I really appreciate it.

Speaker 1 (17:10):
Sounds good to hear the wake fights down down there
in Charlotte, obviously on the bye week.

Speaker 5 (17:15):
Get everybody healthy off to a good start.

Speaker 1 (17:17):
Everything's feeling good up here in Winston.

Speaker 3 (17:20):
This it feels like you guys are getting better too.
Like I remember watching the kennisall game, and I mentioned
earlier in the show, like just think of you guys
then and you guys now, and heck, I mean I
don't want I don't want to get you in trouble, coach,
but it wouldn't for a call that I think most
people thought it was horrendous.

Speaker 2 (17:39):
You'd be five and one with a rank win right now.

Speaker 3 (17:41):
Like you'll feel like you guys have clearly improved.

Speaker 1 (17:45):
There's no doubt, right yeah, And I think that's the
biggest thing. It's from a coaching standpoint, especially in year one,
and I said that this at my opening press conference.
The best program builders maximize the moment. You know, I
have an obligation to the seniors and our fans and
our alumni to go out there and put the best
product down the field right now. And our players are believing,

(18:06):
they're bought in, they're really connected, our culture is great,
and they show up to work every day in this building.

Speaker 5 (18:11):
With tons of energy and wanting to be coached.

Speaker 1 (18:13):
And in today's landscape, you can do a lot with that.
And I'm trusting our guys and our players and our
coaches to put a great play together every week. And
you know, they're going out there and they're really believing,
and our guys come to work every day. So that's
what you're seeing. I think the product get better and
better every week.

Speaker 4 (18:30):
Coaching this landscape of college football, when you're new to
a job and trying to really establish yourself at a
new program, how important is it to have a quarterback
with the experience that Robbie Ashford has to help you
try to get things off the ground.

Speaker 1 (18:47):
Well, I think that's what everyone has to understand. I mean,
I got here December twentieth. You know, it's like getting
into you know, the sixth and seventh rounds of the draft.
You know, the portal was already opened for three weeks.
We signed forty five new players when Robbie kind of.

Speaker 5 (19:00):
Came across our desk.

Speaker 1 (19:02):
You know, we knew we wanted to completely transform the
quarterback position of you know what's really been happening here
at wake Forest. We love dynamic guys that can run
and pass, obviously explosive players with explosive trades, and that's
what he really brought to us, with tons of experience,
So we knew we could shape our offense to him.

(19:22):
You know, this isn't where you know, this isn't what
we're doing with our ideal offense. But you know, it's
players over plays. And I thought he's done a good job.
And Robbie's playing to his strengths and he's going out
there and getting better every week.

Speaker 5 (19:33):
So there's a bunch.

Speaker 1 (19:35):
Of guys like Robbie Ashfords that maybe you know, weren't
highly thought after that are just playing their tails off
and are really buying into the team concept.

Speaker 3 (19:44):
So coach, looking you bring up when you got there,
you know, and how late it was in the transfer game,
and I'll bring up you know, the turnover right like
you come in. It's a ton of new players. You're
putting in new systems and stuff like that. I I
think most of us are pretty damn surprise you're at
four and two. And honestly, I don't mean that this

(20:04):
is another thing I shouldn't be bringing up to you, coach,
But you were up about fourteen in the one game
you lost in seventeen and the other I mean, like
we don't go Max, I know, I'm sorry, coach, don't
worry about my friend, your christ. Sure, I mean this
is a good thing, like y'all could easily be six
and zero. Are you ahead of the schedule that you
had for yourself or did you see the ability to
play this well in your first six games?

Speaker 1 (20:26):
Well? I think at first, let's just talk about changing
the identity of what.

Speaker 5 (20:29):
Way for us is. You know, we are a football school.
This isn't some country club place. Guys.

Speaker 1 (20:34):
We brought a blue collar approach. We have tons of resources,
people are absolutely bought into what we're trying to do,
and you know, we just take it one game at
a time. If I'm being honest and proud of our team.

Speaker 5 (20:47):
But it just starts with a mentality and.

Speaker 1 (20:50):
A want to and a change of what you're really
telling yourself, what you believe is possible.

Speaker 5 (20:55):
And I think that is what has.

Speaker 1 (20:56):
Been really powerful within our team organization, and it's allow
us to put ourselves in this type of position. You know,
So now what do we want to do with it?

Speaker 5 (21:04):
Right?

Speaker 1 (21:04):
Everyone's everyone's patting us on the back. We just had
a team meeting yesterday and you know, I said, I,
you know, if we came here thinking, you know, we're
satisfied with oh Man being a good cool college story,
like look, oh wake Forest, we're satisfied with that, you know,
then we should just keep doing the same things. Or
if we want to actually do something with this opportunity,
you know, we need to.

Speaker 5 (21:24):
Get back to work.

Speaker 1 (21:25):
So success adversity is just as real as failure. So
we got to make sure we're handling things right. Love
where we're at, Love what we're building, the response from
the recruits and the people in our region, have been
fantastic and so far as the goods start to be
a demon.

Speaker 4 (21:41):
Deacon coach, you use you've used the words culture and
mentality while talking to us. How much does the sean
perties performance against Oregon State represent that the culture and
really that next man up mentality with the way he performed.

Speaker 5 (21:58):
Absolutely, And Deshaun has ton of talent, and I.

Speaker 1 (22:00):
Think that's very obvious, and people forget he's still a
nineteen year old kid, you know that really at the
University of Charlotte, got thrown in there and did some
really good things and at highs and lows.

Speaker 5 (22:10):
But now he's a polished passer, he's.

Speaker 1 (22:12):
Processing the game better. And to have a backup quarterback
come in and perform that way, he was a credit
to him in his mentality. He was obviously very disappointed
not being the head guy, but he came out there
every week and supported Robbie and knew his opportunity would
come and he was going to take advantage of it.
And that's exactly what you saw there. And I think

(22:32):
that's a big, you know, kind of building block for
a mentality of the team with a guy, you know,
being ready being a great locker room guy. And then
going delivering what his number is called.

Speaker 3 (22:42):
Jake dicker Head, coach at Wake Forest, is with us.
We have said a lot of nice things about him.
He probably thinks it's rat poison, no bone he brought,
you know, may he probably doesn't want to focus on.

Speaker 2 (22:53):
All this story.

Speaker 4 (22:53):
Here's a lot of nice things about me, coach. I'm
also a Winston Salem guy. I'm sure my name comes
up a lot, probably in the in the city. Yeah,
maybe not, I don't know.

Speaker 1 (23:04):
Or not or not?

Speaker 3 (23:06):
Ye, Please don't tell coach about your friendship with Chris Paul.
You know, I would never do such a thing to
a guess. I just don't go there. Coach, what this
current climate coach in college football?

Speaker 5 (23:18):
Like?

Speaker 3 (23:18):
I think I think maybe we on the outside would
look at it and say, man, for you know, private
school like wakeh you know, competing in the nil space
revenue sharing. Man, it might be tough like the transfer portal,
you know, where you might get out bid and stuff
like that. Or it might be tough. How do you
view it? Do you view it as like you know,

(23:40):
it's it's it's it makes your job harder, or do
you view it as a place where if you do
it right. You can do it really well in this
modern era of college football at Wake.

Speaker 1 (23:50):
Yeah, I think perspective is everything. You know, when we
came here, you know, you come from a place that
didn't have things, you know, and we have ten times
as much more, you know, revenue sharing and then I
on all that stuff here. You know, I look at
it as a blessing and we can absolutely win football
games here, you know. And my hope is that you
know the new rules and the revenue share and we
can get to a real salary cap so we can

(24:12):
go back to you know, who's the best recruiters, who's
the best developers, who can identify talent. There's a lot
of things where you got to use the portal as
a resource. You can't always see it as a detriment.
You got to understand relationships still matter, and if you
lose the transformational pieces of our game and you just
go transactional, that's when you're going to see teams and

(24:35):
programs failing.

Speaker 5 (24:36):
So it still is about the education, right, It still.

Speaker 1 (24:39):
Does matter here and it always will and that's going
to change it set up for the rest of your life.
But we want people also that love the game and
you can't hide that football.

Speaker 5 (24:49):
Is not basketball, right.

Speaker 1 (24:50):
It demands so much out of you that you can't
hide when things get hard, right, And that's the people
that we are going to find and bring into our place.

Speaker 5 (24:58):
And that's why we're going to create success here.

Speaker 1 (25:00):
And that's from my position on down to the coaches,
to the players, to our administration.

Speaker 5 (25:05):
You've got to understand what Wake is and what's.

Speaker 1 (25:08):
Going to make us successful and not try to be
something we're not, so we can stick to our identity
and we can create a new one and build what
we want to be in the future. Because Wake has
had success, and I think that's the biggest thing people
don't want to give enough credit for.

Speaker 5 (25:23):
It has been.

Speaker 1 (25:24):
Hard to do, it's been hard to sustain. But we're
up for the challenge and that's kind of in our
DNA coach.

Speaker 4 (25:30):
I have a question about your in game focus as
a coach because that NC State game, it was a
wild first half, including that food truck that caught on
fire that ESPN was covering heavily, and I noticed while
that thing was a blaze over there, you were running
down the sidelines and they keep focusing on the truck
and the smoke in the air, but you were just
focused on your team.

Speaker 2 (25:51):
Did you did.

Speaker 4 (25:52):
You notice something weird was going on in the air,
like it's smoky and there's a blaze, or did you
Were you so focused on your team now you didn't
really think that, hey, things are burning around here.

Speaker 1 (26:03):
Well, at first, I thought, you know, every time we
store touchdowns, we send off firework, right, And I was
trying to get attention of our chiefest staff being like, hey,
we got to stop setting off these fireworks.

Speaker 5 (26:11):
They's smoke everywhere.

Speaker 1 (26:15):
And then someone finally told me, he's like, no, coach,
there's a truck on fire. So you know, that's that's
all my focus was. And you know, I thought that
was a good problem because we're scoring touchdowns. But yeah,
you gotta you gotta stay in the game.

Speaker 5 (26:27):
You gotta have good.

Speaker 1 (26:28):
Energy, and it's gotta maintain your focus.

Speaker 4 (26:30):
You guys are going up and down the field, and
I'm seeing more of the guys trying to get the
fire and are controlling his own food truck over there.

Speaker 3 (26:38):
Your offense was on fire, the food truck was on fire.
There was a lot of fire going on. Well, coach,
as we say, Bud, you hey keep up the the
good work there. There are deep fans here that definitely
have I noticed there's more and more deep fans texting in, participating,
saying how about our boys as the weeks have gone
on here, So keep it up and I will bestow

(26:58):
on you my biggest honor on the show. I will
give you the Sycamore shout out. I love my Sycamore
beer my Mountain candy here and by the way, it
is available statewide, including in Great Winston Sale, North Carolina.
I tip my beer to you, sir. Keep up the
good work. Deep fans are loving it here in Charlotte.

Speaker 1 (27:15):
Man well, cheers run the bye week, so I'll have
a couple this week for you guys.

Speaker 5 (27:20):
I appreciate you having me on. Go deep.

Speaker 3 (27:22):
Be good coach, keep it up. That is Jake Dickert
school Man.

Speaker 5 (27:26):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (27:26):
It talks like a you know what I mean, talks
like a coach that has his stuff together. And I
just can't say it enough. Four and two led State
by fourteen lost the game. Led Georgia Tech, a top
twenty team in the country. Bone by seventeen lost the
game when they got screwed on that damn no off
sides call. And a no PI call. It's just it

(27:48):
really doesn't I know, he says, Hey, you know this
is he doesn't want to seem shocked by what they're doing, right,
And maybe he's not. But I am just amazed by
what they've done so far and I want to keep
watching their fun team to watch too.

Speaker 6 (28:00):
Man.

Speaker 4 (28:00):
Yeah, he's going to get them most likely to a
bowl game in his first year. I don't I don't
know if we thought that was gonna happen. Virginia Tech
was impressive because Virginia Tech was playing better and it
seemed like a spot where Wake may slip up there
a little bit.

Speaker 2 (28:12):
They did not.

Speaker 4 (28:13):
Oregon State was impressive on the road because I've kind
of felt they might be due for a win with
that program. But they they laid the they laid the
smacketh down way early in that game, way early in
that game. That was that was what thirty nine to
thirty two?

Speaker 2 (28:27):
Nothing? Yeah? Yeah, thirty two nothing at one point.

Speaker 3 (28:30):
And it's interesting, why did I not ask why didn't
we ask coach about the quarterback situation?

Speaker 2 (28:34):
That is on us?

Speaker 5 (28:35):
Man?

Speaker 3 (28:36):
Why did we not ask, like, are you are you
going back to Ashford?

Speaker 2 (28:40):
Well we start I asked.

Speaker 4 (28:42):
Questions about both quarterbacks. I guess I didn't ask who
the guy.

Speaker 3 (28:44):
Is that's on us man, because yeah, Joshan Party was sling.

Speaker 2 (28:48):
He was sling slanging that damn thing.

Speaker 1 (28:50):
Man.

Speaker 4 (28:50):
Oh, Ashford's the guy for now. And he mentioned Party's age.
So maybe Party's the guy in the future. Maybe I
guess perhaps, yeah, that's it there. But they're different, right Ashford.

Speaker 3 (28:59):
Although Ashford may throws like I was kind of down
on his passing. I mean, I remember the LSU game
Bone I remet, you know, last year for South Carolina,
and I remember the Auburn t you know, Stay, I've
been down on his passing. He's made some big throws downfield.
But Purdy Perdy throws up Party, Bernie. He just throws
a pack he made lean Asher becomes Ashford and thank you.

(29:20):
Ashford and Dickard are close to the same age. They
may have a lot.

Speaker 4 (29:23):
By the way, Mac a random panther not here that
I just noticed, and maybe ye all over this and
how we could have mented. I don't remember. Have you
looked at the league leaders in rushing yards right now?
That Dowdle has cracked the top five after two games,
I saw that, and he's less than one hundred yards
from James Cook for second in the league in rush yards.

Speaker 2 (29:41):
So he's is he third or four?

Speaker 4 (29:43):
He's sith right now, Sith he's at four seventy two
for is Javonte Williams for seventy six? B Jahn's for
eighty four and James Cook at second is five thirty seven.
Taylor's up there, Jonathan Taylor. But so mag if he
if he would have had one more like game early on,
he may lead the league in rushing yards right now.

Speaker 2 (30:01):
So we're very close to it.

Speaker 3 (30:03):
I just said, oh, definitely. I just thought about this.
That's pretty amazing. He's playing catch up right now. Yeah.
All those incentives in his contract too, by the way,
like he's about halfway to some of these incentives. I
just thought about something here, Bone. You just named Javonte
Williams as the number four leading rusher in the league. Yep,
we held that dude to nineteen yards. Bijon is what

(30:25):
in rushing in the league? Bone, he's third at for
eighty four, held that dude to seventy two. So if
you're sitting here trying to think is a pant like
Willy p.

Speaker 2 (30:35):
I don't know if I believe in that run defense.

Speaker 3 (30:38):
If you're thinking that way, I don't know why that
was my WILLI Peter, it was very bad, WILLI pe
Just look at some of these numbers here of what
these backs are doing against other matchups and what they
did against us. A Chan had one hundred and twenty
six last week. What do we hold him to like
twelve or thirteen or something? Personally?

Speaker 4 (30:55):
Yeah, you're right, they faced a lot of these guys
because Travis Etn is six in the league. In rust
Yard he went off also also to your point, though,
Davonte bijon third and fourth, James Cook second, he's coming
up soon Buffalo.

Speaker 2 (31:10):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (31:10):
So that's the thing is we're getting tested by all
these dudes that aren't running for more yards. Etn he
killed us, but they're running for more yards against everybody else.

Speaker 4 (31:19):
When we come back back, it's the wrap up. We're
gonna get your stet for the day and night in sports.
I'm also trying to find somebody that will sing happy
birthday to me from the wheel the Wheel of names.
Jeff Frickerd's busy Grace squirrel is not responding, and I
cannot believe who the wheel handed on for third. Oh
oh oh yeah, he's talking to.

Speaker 2 (31:39):
Me right now. Sports Radio seven w F.

Speaker 6 (31:50):
Help the wall.

Speaker 8 (31:51):
Question you and Kirby two most probably some of the
more demonstrative coaches on the field.

Speaker 5 (31:55):
Do do you think.

Speaker 8 (31:56):
Burns more calories in a game you're in? I don't
know that that's a good question. I walked by the
TV and Size Press commerce today, so I looks like
he's burned too many calories.

Speaker 4 (32:10):
There is the lank giffing going after Kirby's going after
Kirby smart, Kirby smart. Matt looks like he's been to
the New York Butcher Shop in Winebar quite a few times.
For Charlotte locations, Dilwarth, Cornelia's Inland Fort Mail also carry
now if you're in that area a couple of weeks
from now in bell Wat check them out. N Why
Butcher wine Bar the very best food for whatever your

(32:31):
need is. That is the New York butcher Shop. Cut off.

Speaker 3 (32:35):
That's cold blooded from Lane, but I respect it. And there,
of course buddies from working together on the BAMA staff,
that's like that's like friend taking shot at friend, no
doubt about it.

Speaker 2 (32:44):
And they will play on Saturday.

Speaker 6 (32:46):
Man.

Speaker 3 (32:47):
It's although we say this every week, it is a
great week of SEC games this week.

Speaker 2 (32:51):
And I'll say this in the acc Bone.

Speaker 3 (32:53):
I don't tell you don't sleep on Duke Georgia Tech,
but don't sleep on Friday night. Miami Louisville. Miami Lousville
is interesting on Friday night as well. Miami favored by
thirteen and a half.

Speaker 5 (33:03):
A game.

Speaker 2 (33:04):
That's interesting. That's interesting. All right? Do we have a
celebrity birthday singer for the Bone Man?

Speaker 3 (33:10):
Man in the house, he's on the wheel, the wheel,
no lote. Oh, I didn't know if it was going
to be Grace Grill or Jeff Rickard. I didn't know
which singer was coming through.

Speaker 4 (33:17):
Grace Grill that she was the backup. Rickard won the
wheel the honor. What this is the most shameless thing
I've ever done here, trying to find someone to sing
to me. Oh, by the way, you you Mac. If
Rickard didn't call and Grace did not respond, you were
the third I was ready to go to the third
backup singer. You.

Speaker 3 (33:33):
By the way, you already have multiple voice text message
songs from listeners. They have already sung you are Benz
Joey from Huntersville. Joy from Huntersville says some stuff I
don't want on the show though.

Speaker 2 (33:43):
It's kind of it's kind of vulgar.

Speaker 4 (33:45):
Yeah, that was he's saying nice and then he called
me a male body bar.

Speaker 2 (33:50):
But the next man, though, is class and a talent.

Speaker 3 (33:53):
Yeah, this is our fearless leader. Jeff Rickard, Jeff, what's
going on to you willing to sing the bone?

Speaker 7 (34:02):
I'm so willing to sing the bone that I left
the last minute of my.

Speaker 5 (34:06):
Show on your show. That's how special you guys are.

Speaker 4 (34:09):
Oh man, that's big man. You could just sing over
there and it wouldn't make any sense. Then we pull
the audio and you play it over here.

Speaker 5 (34:17):
No, yeah, for you guys anything.

Speaker 3 (34:19):
I had to sing along simulcast idea, but that probably
you know what I mean.

Speaker 2 (34:23):
We don't have the time to set down. Do you
like this?

Speaker 4 (34:25):
And Charlotte this idea of the wheel we spin. We're
gonna do it for Mac too when it's his birthday
in a couple of weeks.

Speaker 7 (34:30):
You probably wish you'd gotten Grace Grilba.

Speaker 2 (34:32):
Let's we were open.

Speaker 3 (34:35):
Grace will definitely text you back at ten oh one.
I'm sorry. I just got si. He listens in the
nine o'clock hour in text. But today she decided I
need to turn my She turned her phone off. All right, Jeff,
what's hear?

Speaker 2 (34:45):
What you got?

Speaker 4 (34:45):
And this is very shameless that I'm doing this, but
sometimes a man just he needs he needs to be
saying to by his boss Bone.

Speaker 1 (34:56):
I love you.

Speaker 7 (34:57):
I talk about this all the time with Tomin and
Mac buddy, how much I love keep Bones. And it's
Travis right, that's where we're going with. Yeah, okay, just
double checking, okay, all right, you ready to go? Yeah,
you're rolling back there.

Speaker 2 (35:10):
Fitting he called his shots and you better be recording this.

Speaker 7 (35:15):
All right?

Speaker 5 (35:16):
Here we go one two.

Speaker 7 (35:19):
Happy birthday to you, Happy birthday to you, Happy birthday,
Mabel's dady, Happy birthday to you.

Speaker 2 (35:35):
How about that anymore?

Speaker 4 (35:38):
It's almost a sultry toe, I know. I notice that
Mabel got involved me. By the way, the apartment complex
I live where I live sent Mabel a Wendy's gift
card yesterday for my birthday.

Speaker 2 (35:51):
That's beautiful, man, I steal that from Mabel. I'm dealing
with that.

Speaker 7 (35:57):
You're even gonna tell Mabel you got that?

Speaker 3 (36:00):
Oh, she knows definitely. Now, this is like me when
I steal my kids snacks late at night. Jeff, out
of the pantry, Mabel leftby a gift this morning in
the living room.

Speaker 2 (36:10):
Clean up.

Speaker 3 (36:12):
All right, Jeff, that was beautiful man. You have the
dulcet tones of the Rick Tager, Baby.

Speaker 7 (36:17):
I got exactly. It's not exactly a victory dance on
a Monday or you know, bone playing whatever musical instrument
he has next to him at the moment.

Speaker 5 (36:26):
But I do my best.

Speaker 3 (36:28):
All right, that was well done man, And listen, I
know you guys are hoiity toydy and Indie. You got
the five and one Colts, but we're three and three.
We're on to come up.

Speaker 2 (36:35):
Baby. All right, Hey, I was I.

Speaker 5 (36:38):
Was fired up. I'm in the press box.

Speaker 7 (36:39):
At the Colts game watching the Panthers.

Speaker 5 (36:42):
How about that? Ye?

Speaker 4 (36:44):
Are you thinking possibilities programming being aligned Panther's cults Super Bowl?

Speaker 7 (36:50):
I want as many winds as possible for the Carolina Panthers.
I want that stadium rocking uptown.

Speaker 3 (36:58):
Damn straight, it's getting Why are you challenging? Why are
you using your challenge on the bus?

Speaker 9 (37:04):
Well, because while we got him on the air, I
think it's now a good time to ask him.

Speaker 2 (37:07):
Don't ask Jeff.

Speaker 9 (37:08):
You've expressed your concern and discontent with me being in
the thong. What do the Panthers have to do for
you to be comfortable with me dancing with my cheeks out?

Speaker 2 (37:20):
This wasn't about you, dude.

Speaker 7 (37:22):
It's not even about the Panthers winning. It's just something
that I can't get out of my brain now. Really,
it is what it is. Don't over complicate it. Some
things you just see and you're like, no, not that.

Speaker 4 (37:37):
Just the more they win and the more close that
city sheds. We've lost twenty thousand viewers on our victory day.

Speaker 5 (37:44):
It hurts. And look, you cannot tell me that.

Speaker 7 (37:48):
When he's watching the Cowboys get dismantled by Rico Dowdell,
somewhere back in his cowboy loving mind, he was like.

Speaker 5 (37:56):
Where was Rico Gaudo last year for the Cowboys? You
know that what was going on in his brain?

Speaker 3 (38:01):
Fitty. I don't think he thinks you're fully panther Fitty.
I think he thinks there's remnants of cowboy Fitty still inside.

Speaker 2 (38:07):
And I guess I need to go get into my thong.
After the show and send you.

Speaker 3 (38:11):
At I'm telling you right now, please report that to
hr Boss if send it.

Speaker 2 (38:19):
If he sent you that picture, you know what I
worry about.

Speaker 7 (38:23):
Here's what I truly worry about. As the weather continues
to stay nice and it's warm here and there, right
as the season goes along, w BT built that brand
new weather patio in the back of the building.

Speaker 5 (38:35):
There.

Speaker 7 (38:35):
Yes, one of these days, the weather girl is gonna
come around.

Speaker 5 (38:38):
The corner, or maybe Al will come around the corner.

Speaker 7 (38:41):
And Fiddy is gonna be bathing in sunlight in that
in that whatever it is.

Speaker 2 (38:46):
Oh my god, we don't need this.

Speaker 7 (38:47):
It's just gonna send somebody to the hospital.

Speaker 2 (38:49):
We don't. We don't need that.

Speaker 4 (38:51):
One of the TV girls asked me last week where
I got my hair done when I was wearing.

Speaker 2 (38:54):
The wig.

Speaker 3 (38:59):
That's you should go permanent wig by. It should be
your thing. Man, all right, all right.

Speaker 2 (39:04):
Rick, good to hear from you.

Speaker 3 (39:05):
Amazing singing and the sacrifice you made leaving your show
in Indy to be on ours shows the love you have.

Speaker 5 (39:12):
Man.

Speaker 2 (39:12):
We appreciate it. Brother. Be good.

Speaker 5 (39:14):
I will see you guys next week.

Speaker 3 (39:16):
Okay, sounds good, awesome, all right, we'll see Jeff next week.
There you just got a text that called Fiddy spank Sinatra.
Thanks Bode. I like your idea though. The Rictator Bowl,
And for people that don't know, Jeff's still our boss.
He still oversees the station, but he's added the station
in Indy to the station in Charlotte, Indy's home base
for his family, so he's kind of gone back to

(39:36):
live there now permanently, but so he still runs us.

Speaker 2 (39:40):
So that's kind of the dynamic that is going on there.

Speaker 3 (39:42):
And apparently from hundreds of miles away, he can't get
Fiddy's rear end out of his head.

Speaker 4 (39:47):
No, we had a call last week where he told
me that he's concerned that Fiddy's going to cross the
line and show too much skin at some point.

Speaker 2 (39:57):
Yep, that's going on. Oh yeah, he d away. Don't
blame him. The layers keep coming off.

Speaker 4 (40:02):
How busy would Jeff be if it was the Cults
and the Panthers in the Super Bowl?

Speaker 3 (40:06):
That man would be run ragged? Oh God, the Rick Bowl,
that would be. I cannot believe the Colts. I know
some people Nashally like I can't believe the Panthers are
three and three but I am in shocked that the
Colts are five and one. And by the way, the
urses daughters that are now the owners, all three of
them are the owners of the team now bone as
involved as they are, like going in the locker room,

(40:29):
one of them stands on the sidelines and listens to
the headset. Like if they were one and five, I
feel like that would be a big controversy, you know
