Speaker 1 (00:00):
Welcome back, everybody. It is the Mack and Bone Show
Live Sports Radio ninety two to seven WFNZ, as we
broadcast live from Panther training camp. Our next guest was
pretty damn active the other night in the first preseason
game five pressures. Acording to PFF, he was wreaking have it,
wreaking having in the backfield a run game, big tackle
for loss. That's what they brought him here to do.
(00:21):
From the rams, he is defensive tackle. Bobby Brown, Bobby,
what's going on?
Speaker 2 (00:25):
Man?
Speaker 1 (00:25):
How you doing?
Speaker 2 (00:26):
I'm doing good man that much.
Speaker 1 (00:28):
So you you came here and you actually, I think
said something like this when you got here or whatever.
But like you came here and for all of us
were like, oh this he's a big run stuff or
he's gonna occupy blockers, he's gonna stuff the run. And
I feel like you said, hold on now, I can
do a little bit more than that. And that's you
did it all on Friday nights. You feel like that's
something that you that you can do more than maybe
(00:51):
the fans and media realize.
Speaker 2 (00:53):
Yes I do.
Speaker 3 (00:54):
I've been feeling like that in my whole career, even
since UH and New but I just do what I'm asking,
you know, whenever my opportune was giving, Like I just
take advantage of a Friday next time, got a cash
in on them sacks instead of precious.
Speaker 2 (01:05):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (01:05):
Yeah, Now you got a chance to play for a
long time with one of the all time greats and
and Aaron Donald. Now you come and you play with
Derek Brown, who we can't wait to see back this year.
How excited are you to play with dB? After so
many years with with Aaron Donald?
Speaker 3 (01:20):
Man, it's it's exciting to be able to play next
to somebody that kind of like plays alike, like you know,
that aggressive game and everything. Because like, don't get me wrong,
Ad is greatest ever, like, but he played for next
and strength and everything like. But to be able to
play next to a guy that I know is a
big bruiser like me, it's gonna play hardest.
Speaker 2 (01:39):
It's a little comfort there By.
Speaker 4 (01:41):
The way, you didn't do the knife training, did you.
Speaker 1 (01:43):
That's what I was was that crazy stuff?
Speaker 2 (01:46):
Man?
Speaker 1 (01:46):
He little a little little nutty.
Speaker 2 (01:49):
Yeah, he just uh, he didn't take his medicine and stuff.
Speaker 1 (01:51):
You No knife training for Derek.
Speaker 2 (01:55):
Brown, no little burger training.
Speaker 4 (01:57):
But oh man, he's coming up later.
Speaker 1 (02:03):
I think that's true. We'll pass that along. It seems
like you guys, though not just on the field. We
haven't really seen you enough together. Hopefully deb will play
this week and we'll see you in a game together.
But like it seems like off the field, y'all have
struck up a relationship. You said, there's a whole meat
the Browns thing you're trying to call the defensive one.
Like it seems like y'all are hitting it off.
Speaker 3 (02:23):
Yes, we are, everybody, man, It's just it's real family oriented.
The player lid is fun and it's competitive, like love
to be here.
Speaker 4 (02:30):
And you played two years with a Sean right in LA.
I'm not gonna lie to you. He kind of scares
us a little bit sometimes we see him. Is he
what's he like to play with? And outsited or you
to play with him again?
Speaker 3 (02:41):
Man, ad I mean a Shawan is a great guy
to play with me. Oh that sounds crazy.
Speaker 2 (02:46):
Pause, Like it was fun all the time on this
It was.
Speaker 3 (02:54):
It was fun those two years we played. Be able
to play alongside a Sean. Man, you know, he's a
different cat. But like one thing you know is uh,
it's always gonna be loved from Asheon's side. Man like
on the field, off the field, he gonna push you.
He gonna push you further than what you think you
could do. Cause shoot, he pushed yourself, he demanded of himself,
so of course he gonna demand it the you two.
Speaker 2 (03:12):
So you you've heard.
Speaker 1 (03:13):
I'm sure all you've gotten all the questions about last
year's defense and the run defense. Is that something that
y'all take like personal? Do you take it personal? Like
I don't. I don't wanna be a part of something
that struggles like that. Do guys that were here last
year kind of take it personal? Or or n or
is that not really talked about the way we all
talk about it?
Speaker 3 (03:34):
Well, like me personally, because I mean, y'all asked me
this question, so i'mna aswer the person like me personally,
like of course, I don't wanna be have my name
and testing nothing bad, like I don't think anybody does.
Y'all wouldn't want to be the last podcast. But at
the end of the day, it is like last year,
last year, Like y'all don't say the Eagles is of
the champions anymore, y'all say the reigning champions because they're
(03:54):
not the champions anymore. Since new year, new mindset, new team,
new schemes. So it's like you can't worry about the
old things from last year. All he can do is
take the steps today to be better.
Speaker 4 (04:04):
We saw Rob Hunt bragging about his basketball game recently.
I know you're kind of new to him in terms
of a teammate, but are you buying that he's this
great basketball player he's been bragging about.
Speaker 3 (04:15):
I mean, I'll take nothing from nobody on the court. Man,
Most most football guys are just too short to play
basketball and too wide too.
Speaker 4 (04:23):
So you know, now you had a wrestling background in
high school, right, Yes, sir? How does that help you
and what you're doing now in the pros?
Speaker 3 (04:32):
Being able to just have a body control, hand placement,
you know, just knowing different pressure points of the body,
how to get all on and off blocks and just
not being on the ground is just and having that
tenacity to not lose, that mindset to not lose, whether
if it's one guy, two three or whatever, and just
I'm not gonna lose.
Speaker 1 (04:48):
So you were in your rookie year zero Vero right
was on the staff with the Rams, Yes, sir, So
you and the scheme there is very similar to what
you're doing here. Talk a little bit about the scheme.
We'll get fans that because last year was going bad
like statistically, that we'll try to inn question. I don't
know about this scheme. I don't know about the three four.
What do you like about this scheme? Obviously y'all had
(05:11):
a lot of success with it in la It's it
worked for him his first year here, it worked for
him in Denver. What do you tell fans what this
scheme is all about and what you like about it?
Speaker 3 (05:22):
I would say the scheme is all about as long
as you got the guys up front that's able to
take on blocks, play blocks and not get moved, you
know what I'm saying. And then you got your linebackers
that feel and be able to play their gaps and
fall back and know their assignments. This this scheme works
for any and everybody. You just got to play hard
and play together.
Speaker 2 (05:37):
You know. That's it.
Speaker 4 (05:38):
Have you had any time to kind of explore Charlotte
at all? I know it's it's young end of the season,
but have you been out it all?
Speaker 2 (05:44):
No, not at all?
Speaker 3 (05:45):
Not for only place I don't been to the stake
for the eight and five Birds.
Speaker 1 (05:51):
Are two days, two good places to be at. Right there,
it was the call next time, all right man, Well, hey,
good to meet you. Can't wait to see you play
in regular season games for this team. Welcome to Charlotte.
Thanks for joining us, Bobby, thank you, thanks so much.
