Speaker 1 (00:00):
Welcome back, everybody.

Speaker 2 (00:01):
It's Mack and Bone Live from Panther training camp. And
our next guest is someone that we are hoping it's
a breakout season this season, and I think there's a
good chance that's the case. Trevin Wallace, linebacker for your
Carolina Panthers.

Speaker 1 (00:16):
Trevin, what's up? Man?

Speaker 3 (00:17):
Thanks for joining us, man, But I'm glad for he
little being on here for y'all. Y'all having me, Man, do.

Speaker 2 (00:22):
You kind of feel your eyes kind of lit up
when I said a lot of people think it could
be a breakout season.

Speaker 1 (00:28):
You're in this starting role now.

Speaker 2 (00:30):
Heck, last year you got in the starting role probably
before you thought you would because of the circumstances. But
are you kind of looking at this where you feel
comfortable enough where you're kind of thinking I might be
able to really play my best ball right now?

Speaker 4 (00:42):
Yeah?

Speaker 3 (00:42):
In fact, you know, the confident level was there, you
know obviously, you know last year I hated but you know,
shat got hurt, so I got thrust into the fire,
you know, and the company that's went there. But you know,
over the time and time I played, and obviously you know,
having Joji beside me and someone beside me that believe
in me. You know obviously about more confidence it come
and it's coming on. And then know everybody's seen the
news when Josie left, is like, okay, you good traving,

(01:04):
you got it. And then obviously seeing that the coaches
trust me, you know, the GM Dan trust me, even
head coach Canals trust me.

Speaker 4 (01:11):
So the confidence is there.

Speaker 5 (01:13):
That's a tough thing about sports, right, you get an opportunity,
but your guy, Josie Jewel goes through something pretty rough.
What was that experience like to watch him go through that?
But yet you now benefit from that also, So it's
a catch twenty two a little bit right.

Speaker 3 (01:26):
Yeah, you know I hate it from him, but you know,
I feel like he made the best decision for hisself,
you know, due to no health issues and all.

Speaker 4 (01:32):
They didn't want to get better for hisself.

Speaker 3 (01:34):
Like I say, like I tell people, football don't last
longer than you know, like foot but don't last long,
so you know, you want to have the healthy mindset
of going or if football and having that time spent
with your kids.

Speaker 4 (01:44):
So I feel like he made the right decision.

Speaker 2 (01:46):
Do you when you were watching what the team was
doing in the off season, and you kept signing big dudes,
so then you drafted Cam Jackson.

Speaker 1 (01:53):
But like this is this has got to make you
feel good.

Speaker 2 (01:56):
Did you get a smile on your face every time
another big dude was at it? Because it's looking like
they've got guys this year. They get Derrick Brown back too,
that can keep those blockers off you, right, Like those
guys are the linebacker's best friend.

Speaker 3 (02:07):
Right, Yeah, obviously you know it was a little smile there,
you know, even like I test those like what like
I say last week, and I said, it feels good
having a healthy d line in front of you because
you know, obvious last year there was a lot of
injuries going on, you know, so it just feels real
good because sometimes when I'm playing, like dang, I'm really free,
so now I can really run and showcase my ability.

Speaker 5 (02:27):
You need to know that JJ Jansen's a guest on
our show every week, and by every week, I mean
all year round, like it's not just during the season,
like he's trying to take our jobs, Trevin. So when
you were on car Talk last week making age jokes
with them, we suit you for that, my friend. We
we what's your notes here?

Speaker 1 (02:46):
Someboy that was cold.

Speaker 4 (02:50):
Yeah, mancuse like it's just crazy.

Speaker 3 (02:52):
Like we was talking and he was like telling me
he played for like eighteen years, Like I leave, like
that's a long time. Like you was playing bad then
where it was like just different where it's run the
ball all day long.

Speaker 1 (03:06):
It was like stick stick them back then on their hands.

Speaker 4 (03:08):
Yeah, I don't even know a stick of myth, so
that that means it's real old.

Speaker 5 (03:14):
I'll send you a YouTube video and stick them back
in the seventies. Yeah, they would put stuff on their
arms and the ball would just like stick to it.

Speaker 4 (03:20):
That's crazy, all right.

Speaker 2 (03:21):
So anybody that doesn't know already you played a Kentucky
but you're from the South.

Speaker 4 (03:25):
You're from Georgia, South Georgia.

Speaker 2 (03:26):
Okay, So I mean I think everybody figured out it
was in Brooklyn. You know, you've talked about last year
about you and EXL both being like country boys and stuff.
Are you into that Mullens type stuff like the raccoon
like eating Are.

Speaker 1 (03:40):
You into all that stuff?

Speaker 2 (03:41):
Yeah?

Speaker 4 (03:42):
So you know it's similar.

Speaker 3 (03:43):
So you know, I'm front we you know, raccoon, hogs, deer,
turkey like normal stuff.

Speaker 4 (03:49):
You know, just stuff like that.

Speaker 3 (03:50):
I've seen people eat living before, like hog level, so
just pigeon, you know all that.

Speaker 4 (03:54):
So like I'm used to that. So when people are like, man,
you're eating that, I'm like, yeah, like it's nothing new
to me.

Speaker 3 (03:59):
Squirrel rabbit, like when they get called back at home,
we's going in the backyard, grab our photen, shotgun, go
home for squirreling.

Speaker 4 (04:06):
We eat them.

Speaker 2 (04:07):
Okay, all right, so you and Excel got a little
there's gotta be a bond there.

Speaker 4 (04:10):
Yeah, yeah, it is. It is, you know.

Speaker 3 (04:12):
I told him like cause you know he and big
and the hunting too. And I said during the off season,
like you know, hunting hogs year around, like we need
to do that. He was like, bet, we definitely can.

Speaker 5 (04:21):
There you go now fitting enough, I believe I read
when you got drafted your aspirations post football you want
to be a vet, right.

Speaker 4 (04:28):
Yeah, I do want to be a vet. You know.

Speaker 3 (04:31):
I'm so big into animals, you know, growing up, even
back at home, like we had we got chickens, goats,
you know, pony, quarterhorse. So like I'm just big in
and stuff like that. Even when I got a dog
at my house right now. He's a pit bull, so
you know, It's good to learn stuff like that, you know,
because I can save money, you know, instead of going
to a vet. It's like, well, I know what to
do when he's sick. I already know what to do
if something's wrong with him.

Speaker 2 (04:52):
Nice, that's cool. We're talking with Trevid Wallace, linebacker for
your Panthers. So you talked about you know, I mentioned
a lot of people kind of you know, when we
talk about breakout players, a lot of people are mentioned
in you and you said, I feel so much more comfortable.
What's the difference for you?

Speaker 1 (05:08):
Is?

Speaker 2 (05:09):
Is it just the ability to fly around more, like
you're not hesitating? Like what is what are we gonna notice?
I know you had a nice little run stuff the
other night. What are we gonna notice that's different about.

Speaker 4 (05:20):
You this year? Well?

Speaker 3 (05:21):
I tell people it's like this, you know, like a
little kid, like when you're going somewhere new, you're kind
of nervous and all that. But when you keep going
and keep going, you get more comfortable around people and
be able to open up.

Speaker 4 (05:32):
So I think that's what it is.

Speaker 3 (05:33):
I'm be able to open up and be able to
play with my play style or like when coaches tell
me that like, you know, don't be scared to make
a mistake, you know, So it's like hearing that it's okay,
they give me a degree, like to just go play ball,
like don't always be perfect. So you know, just stuff
like that, hear and stuff like that. It's getting me
more comfortable and be able to stick my chest down, like, okay, Trevor,
if you do this, although of course might say something.

Speaker 4 (05:53):
If you make a play, then it's all right.

Speaker 1 (05:55):
What's Roseboom been like so far?

Speaker 4 (05:57):
And how are you guys mentioning Roseboone? He's real good.
He community case a lot, you know, real good.

Speaker 3 (06:01):
I say, our chemistry is, like, it's crazy how good
our chemistry is. And he just got here like we
got great chemistry. We talked along in the field. If
he sees something, he tell me. If I see something,
I tell him. So our chemistry is real good. And
I'm glad it played with somebody like that because I
think he had over one hundred plus tackles last year,
so you know, he's a tackling machine. So that's just
good having somebody like that because that's gonna push me
to try to reach that level that he's on.

Speaker 2 (06:22):
We've been playing a lot of clips of you lately
actually become in one of our favorite we had the
one which way you took a shot at JJ. We
played that one and then you did an interview interview
with a Niche Shroff, and fans were like, man, Trevin
talks so fast, man, And then there were people saying,
Trevin sounds like Jameis Winston.

Speaker 1 (06:42):
Have you gotten that before? Have you heard that before?
There were some similarities.

Speaker 3 (06:46):
No, but a lot of people do you know, say
I talk fast, even my parents, But back at home
it's just be normal, everybody talking fast.

Speaker 4 (06:53):
So it's something I used to it. So some people like, man, you.

Speaker 3 (06:56):
Talking fast, and I'll be like, nah, bro, you just
can't understand what I'm saying. But I get that a
lot when people say, like I talk father, but the
Jamis Winston, I never heard it.

Speaker 1 (07:03):
Yeah, that's the look out for that one. Apparently they
think you're.

Speaker 5 (07:06):
The new Jamis only guy to lead the pregame speeches
like he does and then go stands on the sidelines.

Speaker 1 (07:12):
So maybe being Jamis is not the best thing, all right? Man.

Speaker 2 (07:16):
Well, hey, we look forward to watching you this year
as you as you develop, and I love talking to
you man, it was a pleasure.

Speaker 1 (07:22):
Appreciate you joining us. Best of luck this year.

Speaker 4 (07:24):
Yeah, thank you for having me
