new to the team that we've been saying, Man, we
can't wait to see him do his thing because of

Now I just met you, so maybe I shouldn't be
jumped at conclusions. But you just seem like one of
these guys that off the field the way you act,
and there's a lot of you guys around here like that,
and on the field is completely different. You turn it on,
like do you have to try to turn that wild
man on?

It's it's really just when you step in, you know,
in the white lines, it's it's just a different animal.
You know, it's game, even playing since you were young
that's always been a physical, aggressive game. So yeah, on
the field, that's that's kind of my mentality. And then
you know, when I'm off the field, I'm a cool,
you know, chill, calm, collected kind of guy. But yeah,
you know when I said, when I get in between

You and I have a lot in common. We're cool
and calm away from the field, and we got you
got tattoos.

Yeah, we're basically one of you. Had a lot of
options in free agency. Why why the Panthers? Why the
city is Charlotte?

I just I wanted to try something new, you know,
start building something in an organization. And then when I
talked to you know, the coaches, you know, they their
vision where they saw me at it just was really
interesting to me. Kind of drew me, you know, closer
to them. And then you know, the guys that were
on the defense, you know, I would love to think

you know, I was enjoying, you know, my time with them.
So yeah, that was kind of what drew me to
to Panthers.

The contract offered didn't hurt either.

That was always you know, that's always helpful.

So last year, and I want to talk to you
about this last year. You know, it seems like a
lot of analyst, a lot of writers believe you had
your best season, and they believe it's because your role changed.
They move you up, you know, in the box, more
up against the run, more blitched you more. Is that
the case and are you finding that that's the way

you're going to be used a lot here?

Yeah?

Last year, I just I think it was just how
comfortable I felt with the scheme and you know, my
play style and then just you know, carrying that out
throughout the season, and then when I got here, you know,
that's kind of the same thing I'm trying to implement.

You know that they kind of had me a little.
Speaker 3 (02:44):
Closer, you know, playing kind of everywhere, and you know,
that's that's one thing I'll always try to implement on
my game. It's just the physical nature of the game.

So yeah, how much pride do you take envying that
chess piece the guy where the offense may not know
where you're coming from.

I love it, man, It's fun. It's it's fun too.

Like you said, you know, the office has no clue,
so you know, being able to show things and then
pop out or do something else. It's always fun to
catch the off slipping. So it's it's it's gonna be fun.

For me even in the nickel. We see you in
that nickelback spot. You know, I guess that big nickel
spot is kind of yours. Where shows in there when
it's you know, smaller nickel whatever whatever where we're supposed

do you think about this defense that you just joined.
You're in your first camp with them, but you spent
the off season here and stuff like that. It's a
lot of new names, a lot of new faces, and
it needed to be quite frankly with the way last season,
when how's everything jelling? Is this something that's gonna take time,
or do you feel like that, you feel like by

week one you can have be cohesive.
Speaker 2 (04:08):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (04:08):
No, it's been super fun to come out here with
the guys. Man, just learning each of them, you know,
seeing their play style, seeing their hunger. I mean, that's
that's what you want when you come out on the field.
And so, you know, I like where we're headed. You know,
we still have work to do, but as long as
we keep our head down and keep working, man, we
should be ready.

And I'm excited to see what we can do.

So you're you're a fascinating guy off the field. We
mentioned the modeling stuff you've done before. Is it the reptiles, is.
Speaker 2 (04:33):
It snakes, reptile? Yeah, anything, snakes, lizards.
Speaker 4 (04:36):
Turtles, turtles I'm good with. And then you also playing
the guitar, right.
Speaker 2 (04:43):
Yeah, I do. Yeah, that's that's kind of the big
one for me.

Basically, Yeah, just trying, you know, trying to find hobbies
off the field to do and learn and you know,
and keep my brain working.

So that's that's kind of what I've been doing.

Now I've seen some of the stuff with the quotes
from you about guitar and the music you like, and
I think it's similar to me. You've mentioned like Nervan,
Red Hot, Chili, Pepper's, Metallica, even Wheezer. Yeah, so you're
into like you're young this just in you're slightly younger
than me. Yeah, so like you're into stuff like Rocket

How'd you get into that?
Speaker 2 (05:18):
Honestly, man, it's kind of a multitude of things.
Speaker 3 (05:22):
I'd say, Like where I went to high school, my coaches,
we'd play that on the on the s on the speakers,
you know, every practice, you know, music like that, alternative
old school rock.
Speaker 2 (05:33):
And then growing up, I had a.
Speaker 3 (05:35):
Guitar Hero and so I'd be on Guitar Hero twenty
four to seven just learning the music and then you know,
fall in love with the you know, the songs and
some of the bands. So that's kind of how it
started out. Pearl Jam Low, Pearl Jam. Yeah, yeah, yeah,
Pearl Jam is cool. The Killers. Yeah, when we were young.
I'm learning that one on the guitar right now. That's

that's a fun one.

But yeah, all those guys, did you go to the
Metallica show?
Speaker 2 (06:00):
I wasn't able to.
Speaker 3 (06:01):
I told JJ I was actually moving up to my house,
moving into my house so I had to get some
stuff set up, have family here.

So feels a little crazy.

Yeah, every every player has mentioned at some point he's
working his way around.

And he's that guy.

He's a popular guy around.

You have an interest in sports broadcasting.

I read that right, Yeah, I mean yeah, you know,
growing up, you know, after football, I've always just been
open to staying around sports, whether i'd be sports broadcasting
or or coaching, you know, something like that, just to
stay in sports and you know, have fun with that.

Nick Scott's a fellow veteran, but you've got a couple
of exciting young bucks in that safety corps And I
almost feel like, are you now one of the old dudes?

I mean yeah, I think so. People are calling me
a little bit of a veteran. I'm still like, man,
I still feel so fresh into this thing.
Speaker 2 (06:55):
But what do you guess?

What do you think of Richardson and Ransom?

Like, what are there? What are their strong points?

Yeah? Man, what do you think they're fun to watch? Man?
Like I said about all these guys.

They come to work, ready to work, hungry, ready to
get better and just both of their play styles. Man,
they're they're physical. You know, they can cover. They can
pretty much do everything that the coaches are asking them
to do. So yeah, two young guys with me, and
it's fun to be around them. Man, it's fun to
pick the brain, you know, give them some advice if
I have any or or vice versa.

So it's been fun.

You expected the Charlotte nightlife to be like Vegas.
Speaker 3 (07:30):
Or No, I don't know. I told you when I
for the got here. It's a little slower, but uh,
you know, I you know, I'm not that much of
a go out kind of guy.

Like I told you earlier. I'm chill, staying of myself.

You play the guitar a little bit on pythons. Yeah,
they sit around watch you play guitar.

So what do you think you're going against this offense
every day? What strikes you when you play against this offense? Like, man,
what do you take note of?
Speaker 2 (07:58):
They're getting better every day?

I think you know, uh, to come out here and
practice with them every day, we see, you know, improvements
from each side. You know, the offense may win one
day and then the defense will come out and win
that day. So you just see each side of the
ball getting better and better, and you know, that's all
you can ask for as well. As long as we
can keep doing that, will be on the right track.

So this is this camp like feistier than the camps
you're used to. It seems, at least by the Panther
camp standards, it seems more physical and like feist it is.
Speaker 3 (08:28):
Yeah, And that's that's one thing, especially the defense we're
trying to you know, establish, is just the physical nature.

Just you can't forget about it. So any chance or
any opportunity we have to show that and display that
