Speaker 1 (00:00):
We've been talking about day one, but why not to
talk talk to somebody that if it's happening with the
Carolina Panthers, she's there and she's covering it way better
than we ever could. We're talking about Sena Quick, who
joins us here, one of many of y'all's i'm sure
favorites when it comes to daily Carolina Panther coverage. And

(00:20):
I guess I have to admit it. I was bitter
on Monday when I lashed out and said she did
not hit a legit home run. I was bitter, but
I must admit it was sad. The way you snalys
two run shot was the killer, was one of the
killer blows for Team Bone against Team Mac. She and
I got to give you credit begrudgingly. Damn you hit
the heck out of that ball.

Speaker 2 (00:44):
Ah kills, but.

Speaker 1 (00:45):
I have I didn't draft you. I have only myself
Sena to blame. I did not.

Speaker 3 (00:50):
Thanks for coming out. Your sons were amazing too, man,
and you're your youngest son telling me that he liked
my effort. But next time I might want to use
my hat to catch a ball with real eye opening
for me.

Speaker 2 (01:03):
Aiden is one on one Okay, he is different. He's
surprised with me every day. You just never know what
adventure you're going to embark.

Speaker 1 (01:10):
All that is great. That is great. Man, he was
flying around the basse pass He's got the track star jeans.
But uh, anyway, all right, let's so I had to
admit that, Jean, I had to be big enough to
admit that. But now we're going to talk about the
the Panthers. So you were there, I know, Mike Kay

(01:30):
was kind of telling us that the play, the big
Princely Play. At the end of practice, there were kind of,
as often is the case, there were kind of some
big dudes kind of like, you know, in front of it.
How much were you able to see of the of
the Princely play where he has this great pass rush
and but gets into Brice and and and it's a
scary moment but also an exciting moment for fans because

(01:52):
we're looking for pass rush. What did you what did
you make of that play?

Speaker 2 (01:57):
Well, the first thing is the best thing about it
is that it happened so fast. It happened so fast Princely,
I mean, he was back there in a hurry, and
you know, people called him a finet path Russian just
that and a third, but sometimes you need a little
bit of a nets. But I think that it was
just just the excitement, you know, And again the Panthers
and I had passed Russian a long time and not

(02:18):
you know, just had a lot of a lot of
walls on defense last year, so it was kind of like, whoa,
that's that's a little little touchy for day one, but
we like that you could get there that fast. So
I mean, I think that, you know, I don't know
if the practice was supposed to end anyway or if
it just ended on that play, but I will say,
you know it was if he's a young guy, so

(02:39):
you know that death Canalis and Bright were both kind
of like, yeah, you know, it's a little touchy, but
we're excited. We're excited to see the rush, We're excited
for the play. And like Wright said, I'm just glad
he's on my team. So he's not going to be
in my face like that in a couple of weeks.
He's going to be hopefully in seventeen other quarterback places
like that. So I just think it bows well for
the future. Especially people are still and are still nervous

(03:03):
about this defense. You know, there's PTSD from last season,
and I agree. Look, I can't blame him. I sat
through that. I sat through that, so you know, I'm
happy to see that. You know that young guys, I
mean they seem to be really, really, really passionate about learning.
I know everybody's seen the clips of sporting and Pransvilly

(03:25):
moving the stuff around in the hotels. I mean, this
guys has been in the playbooks. They been all about
football ever since they became Carolina Panthers.

Speaker 3 (03:33):
We've talked so much to you and everybody about the
safety spot next to may Rig And well they go
out and get somebody. But a forgotten guy a little
bit is Demani Richardson, the guy who get heard that
they liked last year. How much of a chance do
you do you give Richardson to maybe be that guy
instead of going outside and bringing someone else in.

Speaker 2 (03:55):
And I think you give Richardson as much of a
chance as you give anybody else. I think you have
a solid campaign last year. It seems to be building
on that. Coach Canalo said that he's the one that
he feels like has to advance the most, that he's
most excited about. His improvement and his growth as a player.
So right now, I mean, what can you lose by
giving him a chance? You know, you roll the guys

(04:16):
on whether or not you're able to get another safety
back there. That being said, that doesn't mean that I'm
not concerned about the secondary, because they're also really thinic
cornerback also really really thick papercenic cornerback. But I do
like Smith Wade, I like Demoni Richardson. I'm big young
guys and they're gonna take some development, but they both
are on exciting and positive tracks to compete to improve.

(04:39):
So I'm not I'm not worried that the MNI Richardson
is not up to the pack. I just would like
to see more's depths. Yea, in the secondary.

Speaker 1 (04:49):
I kind of put it yesterday that now because of
the unfortunate Josie Jewel news, I feel like that whole
back seven you can kind of say, right is lacking depth.
Do you now put linebacker like, do you do you
think we're good? Or you put is linebacker go to
the top of the list of worries down? What do
you think?

Speaker 2 (05:08):
I think?

Speaker 4 (05:08):
So?

Speaker 2 (05:09):
I mean, because what we're talking when we're talking about
the secondary. We're talking about the gets behind the guys,
but who are the guys for linebacker? You don't have
a sex roop that you could set in stone that
these are the guys are going to make this roster.
And linebacker has been up there for me from the
get go, and it just becomes red alert now without
Josie Yule to me in my opinion, but it was

(05:30):
always a position in need and one of the higher
positions of need on defense for me from jump Yeah.

Speaker 3 (05:37):
Yeah, Gina, what do you think about Renfro, the story
of Renfro and what he's trying to pull off here?
And do you how much of a chance do you
give Hunter to make this team.

Speaker 2 (05:47):
I'll say this. I first started by saying this, I
suffer from autoimmun disease also, so my heart is definitely
you know, hard goes out to him because it is difficult.
Your body is literally fighting itself. So that being said,
his courage to come back to the game after experiencing
something like that, it's one of those silent uh, one
of those silent ailments that people can't physically see on

(06:09):
you right away, but they will see it over time.
And I feel that to say that that to me
is his biggest detractor as far as like his biggest
obstacle in making this team because it's just a deeper
wide receiver room. That we had to say, you're a
long time in Carolina. I don't know if you got
I mean you remember Ron Rivera has the you know,
the law off the shirt form with what the person
play and Fraser remember that, Yes, I mean you know

(06:34):
the chances hadn't had a club running over a wide
receiver in a really really long time. That thing said,
if there is an odd man out to me, I
had it between David Moore and Hunter Renfro And if
I had to sell my house based on who's going
to make that roskie today after day on a training camp,
it would be David Moore. Yeah, it would be David Moore. Interesting,

(06:56):
it would be David More. David Moore play specialty. Hunter
Renfrow doesn't do specially those place specially He's been always
through the game a little bit longer, a little bit longer,
but with two seasons. Yeah, yeah, I don't quite know
he's really gotten his football leg that's under him.

Speaker 4 (07:09):
And not to mention they have me to surpassed on
yet is your feeling that Horn because of his return
game or maybe just the explosiveness like Horn, you feel
like we'll be on this active roster absolutely all right,
looking forward to see looking forward.

Speaker 2 (07:23):
To to check in. That's just yeah. We were just talking
about that the other day and I'm like, that's that's
my odd man out as either Renfro or more and
right now I've got to get that. Give that roster
spot the more if I have to pick today.

Speaker 3 (07:34):
Speaking of Horne, a question about the the other Horn,
JC Horn. Did you see the car yesterday that he
was bragging about.

Speaker 2 (07:41):
I did not. We were like, well, we got to
go to the to the parking lot, I mean just
to set up for training, tramp and all that stuff.
Is so much different this year that we don't necessarily
even enter the stadium. We used to end the I mean,
you guys know that we used to end in the
stadium and the player's lot, but we don't end in
the stadium. Like I don't even know the last time
I was in the players lot, That's what I'm saying.

Speaker 1 (07:59):
I was thinking about that, like he told, like, I
have visions. After he told you'll just go check it out,
I had visions of David Newton, of David Newton snooping
around looking in the windows of players cars and like
security busting them or something.

Speaker 2 (08:12):
You know, you might you might be right, but our.

Speaker 1 (08:17):
Curiosity like we like, do you have a guess of
what kind of car? Like bone and I drive Mitsubishi's
and kias, so we don't really know about Like.

Speaker 3 (08:26):
You couldn't lie, you could lie and pump it up, like.

Speaker 1 (08:29):
Do you have any guess on what on what he
might have because he'd been bragging about to y'all a lot.

Speaker 2 (08:36):
I might just have to do some type of like
blue clue, uh, Nancy Drew type of investigation to get
down to the bottom of the don't think he would
give us that it was black Sometimes can the internet
and cone his social media opposed to see that I
just put something together for you guys and I'll be
back with my friend.

Speaker 1 (08:54):
Yeah, you got to get on that case because inquiring
minds really want to know there's no doubt about it. Uh. Also,
we also commented Sheena on the fact that I think
it's three straight opening press conferences for training Camp where
Bryce opens the presser by asking y'all what you did
over the summer, he's one on one? Is he not
like the sweetest, nicest dude that you have ever covered? Like,

(09:16):
how can like when fans bash him around here, how
can you not pull for this dude?

Speaker 3 (09:21):
Man.

Speaker 2 (09:22):
The funniest thing I don't know if I told you
the story before. The funniest thing. We were a bash
and I went to the Jordan House during the Super
Bowl because just the first year we got INTE, so
you know, they have a cocktail hour and all the
Jordan brand athletes are there. Bryce is like, what's my
ability here? He said, is like seeing my teachers outside
of school. And I've never felt more like the auntie
before in my life than in that moment. I think

(09:45):
I'm a post it.

Speaker 1 (09:45):
I don't know that Right, that is hilarious. My teachers
out of.

Speaker 2 (09:51):
School, just a good kid and even just coming opening
up in presser asking us about us. It's just you
see the comfortability that he is growing, and we're seeing
more of Right's personality. We're seeing to last, we're seeing
I'm not saying the mask is he's never I want

(10:11):
to say he wore a mask. I think he wore
a very media trained persona and now he's just relaxed.
You know, that comes with maturity, that comes with being
having the same head coach, play caller and all that
stuff two years in a row, and being getting a
chance to actually have some some stability in the system
that he's learning. They went and got some weapons. I mean,

(10:32):
I think, right Shong is in a really good place
right now mentally and physically, and that shows in those
press conferences.

Speaker 1 (10:38):
You can tell he's feeling good.

Speaker 2 (10:39):
You can tell you can tell how these guys are
feeling just based off their body language. His body language
is different, you know, and they've always told us in
bvice young communicator, and that's not surprising to me. You
wanted the freaking hisman, Like, I don't care what how
call or short he is. He wanted the freaking husman.
So he's always had to have some type of command
over the huddle anyway. But you're just kind of seeing

(11:00):
his comfortability to see him chat chat his teammates up
in between plays, especially some of the younger guys, some
of the past catchers. So I just think that the
way he's opening his pressure is just another step in
Bryce Young's maturation as the face of this team.

Speaker 1 (11:15):
Well said, Well said, Sheena, we had a blast talking
to you. Congratulations on that win, all right, and that
home run. I gotta give it to you, follow Sheen.
It's hard. I'm not a sore loser. It's hard for
me to do that at Sheena underscore Marie three on Twitter.

Speaker 3 (11:31):
Everybody to wait.

Speaker 2 (11:32):
Until I find a video footage. Somebody had you wait.

Speaker 3 (11:35):
Oh no, it's gone missing somehow. It's amazing how good
moments off of my team I've gone missing.

Speaker 1 (11:40):
Find out video footage of those two fitty strikeouts too.
I mean say that, at least I was able to
numb it back to the picture twice. All Right, Gena,
be good. We'll see you out there at camp. Be good.

Speaker 2 (11:50):
Thanks guys,
