(01:24):
a fine sycamore brew.

Speaker 4 (01:26):
You came through on that read You professionally fought that
read through. I fought through, you know what.

Speaker 3 (01:31):
I was inspired by the guy earlier and what the
bleep that you said? Proposed to a woman forty three
times and finally she gave in. I just stuck with
that word bone. I stuck with the word professional, and
time four I got it, all.

Speaker 4 (01:45):
Right, that's pretty much. I don't want to laugh at that.

Speaker 1 (01:47):
I gat any work because someone pointed out on the
text line, like there's a chance that city or Flounder
had to propose that many.

Speaker 4 (01:52):
Yeah, they could have to stick with it.

Speaker 1 (01:53):
Man, they combined, combined, they could have seventy five proposals.

Speaker 3 (01:57):
I think it's a message for Lara from Monroe, like
you tried two friends for Fittie, it didn't work out.

Speaker 4 (02:02):
Forty three friends? Do you have forty three friends? Lere,
because by forty three maybe didn't work.

Speaker 1 (02:08):
Lara, rank your friends and go to forty three and
let us know who that is, and then we'll see
what happens.

Speaker 3 (02:13):
Let's bring in a guy, but much more eloquent than me.
All Right, he could say the word professional. He is
a professional. He had an amazing gold call on the
amazing Zaha volley goal. We got Charlotte f Steve's stuff
to talk about, we got Panther stuff to talk about,
and I'm sure there'll be some silliness as well, Willie
P Time for Willy's world.

Speaker 4 (02:29):
What's up, pe Man? How you doing?

Speaker 5 (02:31):
Good morning? Jos Guys, how are you?

Speaker 4 (02:33):
We're Willie?

Speaker 3 (02:33):
We're doing good man. So what do you think about
I know it's official? What do you think about the
signing of the Aussie striker Archie Goodwin? He and Toklamati?
That could be a good balanced tandem right up front.

Speaker 5 (02:47):
So there's two parts of this.

Speaker 6 (02:48):
I want to talk about kind of the way that
this all came about, because I think there are a
lot of people who felt that Charlotte was going to
sign a designated player number nine after the departure of
Patrick odgm On, and it seemed like about midway through
the window and midway through the summer, the conversation kind
of changed. And what changed about the conversation will Adon

(03:09):
Toklamanti was playing incredibly well, he had goals in five
of seven contests, and I think there's a desire from
the club to see how he handles the rank. It's
almost similar to what the conversation was surrounding Patrick Godjamon
last year.

Speaker 5 (03:22):
Let's see if he can handle the load.

Speaker 6 (03:24):
Obviously, the competition changed on Patrick when he expressed a
desire to go to Europe, and it seems like they
like Eaton, Eaton, likes being here, and I think part
of that is maybe why the competition changed. From going
from a DP nine that the guys like in the
Yorgo Shakamakas camp, which his value kind of very much cratered.
He ended up going I think for two million dollars

(03:45):
overseas somewhere and really didn't have the kind of value
that Kuza Suel won for him. I know they checked
in on Charlie Kellman overseas, but he's somebody who from
a footprint standpoint, and he's been on more loans and
different teams. He's played for more teams than Kalt Korver.
So it's not like a It's not a scenario where
you look at it and say it was incredibly appetizing

(04:05):
signing this kid Goodwin's got a lot of upside.

Speaker 5 (04:08):
He's twenty years old.

Speaker 6 (04:10):
He's not coming from, you know, one of those leagues
that is a traditional development league. He's coming from the Australian.

Speaker 5 (04:16):
League and he was a Golden Boot winner in that league.

Speaker 6 (04:19):
And I think it's something where they want somebody with
an eye for goal. And I think that's the one
thing that Zaron Kinetta and even Dean Smith had said
is that, look, we need guys who can put the
ball in the net and it's.

Speaker 5 (04:30):
A developmental type signing.

Speaker 6 (04:32):
The conversation turned from instead of trying to supplant Toklamani,
they want to come and me too, Kimon. They knew
they needed another body and he's somebody who has got
a lot of promise.

Speaker 5 (04:42):
I know he's here today. He will train this morning.

Speaker 6 (04:44):
It'll be kind of that same thing. He'll train on
the side like Harry Topolo did when he first got here,
and we wait to be.

Speaker 5 (04:50):
The process with him. But seems like a cool young
dude and I think they're very very high on them.

Speaker 1 (04:56):
Busy news time for FC last night we find out
they agreed to deal with Inner Miami or Inter Messy
as Matt calls him for goalkeeper Drake is it calendar? Yes,
former finalist for MLS Keeper of the Year, has been
on the US national team camp a couple of times.
What do you make of him as a player in
like the reasoning behind why they went and got a keeper.

Speaker 6 (05:18):
Well, first off, I'm glad that you know, I didn't
start the inter messy thing, but I definitely have a
proponent proponent of calling them inter messy. So I'm a
big fan that that is catching on with y'all. I
fully support that. But this is something I know that
a lot of people were caught off guard by this,

(05:39):
myself included, and and more and more, I've kind of
tried to mine my back channels and mind.

Speaker 5 (05:47):
The reasoning behind.

Speaker 6 (05:48):
This is that this is a depth move, I think
first and foremost, I think a couple of people have
mentioned online that that David Bingham and George Marks are
both up at the end of the season contract wise. David,
I think is thirty five going on thirty six, and George,
who has been here since the beginning, hasn't really had
the opportunity to get consistent minutes, and not for lack

(06:09):
of opportunity, there's been opportunity to get him on the field,
and for whatever reason, the coaching staffs for the department regardless,
I haven't really found a reason or a desire to
use him, which I feel bad, but because I love George.

Speaker 5 (06:22):
He's a fantastic kid. You know, he's a.

Speaker 6 (06:24):
Local, local product out of Clemson, and I wanted to
see him get an opportunity. But I think again, we
have the player in Collina that he is. You know,
he had played in twenty twenty four, the kind of soccer.

Speaker 5 (06:38):
That you know, no one was going to.

Speaker 6 (06:40):
Get on the field other than him, so to speak. Obviously,
this year it's been a little bit different, and I
think they've whether it's they've they've noticed chinks in the
armor or whether or not, you know, the consistency was
not there. I think there was a desire to want
to improve the room overall because they really liked Touro Donze,
who I think probably right now projects their third goalkeeper
for next year, who they got from overseas but has

(07:02):
got is a Raleigh native, so I think he kind
of is that goalkeeper of the future, and Calendar probably
represents an upgrade at the backup position. I know people
were saying, is there's something wrong with Kalina? Is he
going to go overseas? I don't know that for a fact.
I know he's got two young kids. I don't want
to speculate on any thing because he hasn't said anything publicly.
He's always said he's liked it here. He's called Charlotte

(07:22):
kind of his mini Zagreb as many Croatias, So I
think from from all accounts, he's happy here. It's more
about just trying to upgrade that room and also kind
of upgrading their chances to try and go on a
cup run next year. You know, if they have these
cups like next year in the US Open Cup or
the League's Cup, they want somebody to play in those
matches that's not necessarily Kalina that can get them a

(07:43):
cup run. I think Calendar is somebody who projects very
very well for that role.

Speaker 3 (07:47):
All right, p Man, what do you think about the
conversation we were having about Bryce Young that we were
talking about the athletic tier rankings. You know where they
consult the panel of executives and coaches, and he is
in tier three, so he moved up from tier four
to tier three. But there are people in there talking

(08:09):
about there was one coach in there that said, I
don't think he has the size or or the arm
strength to be a Tier two quarterback, and Bone pointed
out for reference that tier two takes you basically from
what is it Bone like seven to fourteen, liked, what
do you think is the ceiling for Bryce Young?

Speaker 5 (08:27):
Like that tier?

Speaker 6 (08:30):
It's that Tier two level, And I think it's it's
I think the ultimate ceiling for him if he continues
to play, if he can play the way that he
did in the second half, over the courts of multiple seasons,
I think he can get himself into the top ten
in the National Football League. Now, by top ten, I
mean like probably at ten or at nine. I don't

(08:51):
think he's gonna be the kind of player who you
look at and say can win a game on his
own consistently. I think he still is the kind of
guy who needs some help, needs defense, needs a run game,
and needs good receivers. And that's part of the reason
why Dan Morgan and Bran Tillis have built the team
like they did, at least offensively this year. They got

(09:11):
a treasure trove of wide receivers for him. They've got
two very capable runners and a stout offensive line around him.
We all know the defense is still a work in progress,
but I think that's why they've built the team that
they've built. You don't need to have him.

Speaker 4 (09:27):
A homes to win a Super Bowl anymore.

Speaker 6 (09:29):
Like that whole idea of trying to find the next
player like that, I think teams are recognized he's a unicorn,
and there's a lot of guys who can win meaningful
games and get you into deep playoff runs with different
kinds of skill sets. And I think we're finding out
that Bryce Young's skill.

Speaker 5 (09:49):
Set is anticipation.

Speaker 6 (09:51):
Throws is getting out there on the run and throwing
it from a scramble drill standpoint. And I think he's
got a stronger on the many people will give him
credit for. I think seeing a lot more calmness out
of him. And again we only have a very small
sample size. I've got one joint practice and one preseason
game to go off of so far this year. But
if he can continue what he did over the second

(10:11):
half of last year, I think by the end of
next season we could be talking about him as somebody
who is that kind of guy. I think the company
that he's keeping currently. I think he's got more talent
than those guys, but he just hasn't shown it on
the field consistently yet, and I think that can start
to happen as soon as this year.

Speaker 1 (10:31):
Has the offense that you've seen so far against small sample,
has that changed your expectations for what the ceiling of
this offense can be.

Speaker 6 (10:43):
I don't know if it necessarily has, just because it's
just not enough yet.

Speaker 5 (10:46):
I think again, we saw one drive, one scoring drive, so.

Speaker 6 (10:49):
I think it's it's a I think it's a good
a good first step. I really like Tetero McMillan a
lot more than I thought I was going to by
this time this year, just based on the fact that
I think for a lot of people they were I
don't want to say not okay with the pick, but
somewhat perplexed by the pick. I again, I've said this

(11:10):
multiple times on the air with you guys. I wasn't
perplexed by going wide receiver. I just was perplexed by
the skill set of Teteroa because I was worried about
his ability to get open. Well, he's showing that he
doesn't need a lot of space to quote be open,
which I think is part of the reason he fits
an NFL skill set. I just I think people thought
that maybe he would be running away from dudes, so

(11:30):
to speak.

Speaker 5 (11:31):
But I think he's somebody.

Speaker 6 (11:33):
Who can thrive in tight windows, which the windows in
the NFL are tighter than there are in college.

Speaker 5 (11:38):
So it's something that's really really good.

Speaker 6 (11:40):
I think, you know, there have been some growth moments.
You know, the drop touchdown against the Browns is one
you think of, but I think again, you know, Dave
Canals is seeing the positive in that, and I think also,
you know, we haven't seen this offensive and run behind
a renfro yet.

Speaker 5 (11:54):
Like That's that's the.

Speaker 6 (11:56):
Exciting part about it is that you know, we're talking
about a guy who you know, is not too far
move from being a pretty reliable NFL and college football
pass catcher. Uh that could be on the cut line
for this team. That's how deep this room is. And
the fact is that there's a lot to love about that.
And I think we also, you know, still a bit
to see the run game really uh fully implemented, because
it's so hard to kind of do that during the

(12:18):
preseason because a lot of the run fits are very
I don't want to say Vanello. I know that's a
that's a bit of a buzzword here, but but the
run fits aren't as elaborate as they would be in
the regular season, and so once we see that get underway,
I think that that you really will see the full
potential of this offense, which I think will move a ceiling. My, my, my,

(12:38):
my ceiling for the whole team, though is still very
much limited by what we see on the other side
of the football. And also Mac mentioned it earlier. I
think Specialty was kind of a glaring like like a
glaring ch for for what we saw against.

Speaker 5 (12:51):
The Browns, and.

Speaker 6 (12:53):
You know, we might, we might, we might be underrating some.

Speaker 5 (12:55):
Of the losses that we had in that particular phase.

Speaker 4 (12:59):
Told us not to be concerned, but I'm a little concerned.
P Man.

Speaker 3 (13:02):
I got a great text from UH from a friend
of mine named Scott who says, says, Mac, I have
noticed that Willy has not been in a feud with
you guys at the station in a while. Is he
in a calm zen like place or are you guys
not being jerks?

Speaker 4 (13:21):
What do you have an answer to that one? Have
we not been jerks? I feel like we're always jerks.

Speaker 5 (13:26):
I think the answer is b I'm gonna.

Speaker 3 (13:29):
Go be okay. What was again? That's not being jerks?
Is that possible?

Speaker 5 (13:34):
That's the one.

Speaker 4 (13:35):
Well we can fix that right now. Welcome in, Fitty.

Speaker 6 (13:40):
You haven't have You haven't asked me about Zaha's nauty yet?

Speaker 4 (13:45):
About the goal?

Speaker 5 (13:46):
Yeah?

Speaker 6 (13:47):
About about about about the win at all? The only
asked about the two players?

Speaker 3 (13:50):
Oh my bad, I don't know. I just want to
talk about Bryce. Are you complaining about right?

Speaker 4 (13:54):
Watch session?

Speaker 5 (13:55):
Now?

Speaker 4 (13:55):
Is there gonna be a fight now? Fitty? That's not
a good guest etiquette, Willy. We need tone here.

Speaker 3 (14:00):
Also, I think we're about to get the swine for
not asking about the win.

Speaker 4 (14:04):
I don't know. I don't know.

Speaker 3 (14:05):
I don't know why I didn't ask about the win.
It was freaking amazing. You said you thought it was
the best win of the year, right I did.

Speaker 5 (14:12):
I think it was, and I think it.

Speaker 6 (14:14):
I know a lot of the the win streak maybe
was propped up by beating some bad teams, but that's
a big, big win, and I would I would even
go so far as to say it could be the
biggest road win they've ever had. If this run continues,
because they're in a run that they've never had before.
Five consecutive wins, six in a row, unbeaten MLS play,
it's definitely something you look at and say, is a

(14:37):
real standout part for this team.

Speaker 5 (14:40):
And I think.

Speaker 6 (14:41):
Also part of the reason why you're not seeing any
land shaking moves to the starting eleven is because of
how well they're playing and how much confidence Dean Smith.

Speaker 3 (14:49):
Hasn't though I love it, man, got real Salt Lake
Saturday night, get to the bank.

Speaker 4 (14:54):
Any more questions you want to ask? Is there now friction?
Is there? Have we changed it? I just I want
to make sure we get all the questions that you
want to answer.

Speaker 6 (15:03):
I would have thought you would have asked me about
the team, the team on the field, that's all.

Speaker 4 (15:06):
All right, Well, I just know, but you wanted to
get there.

Speaker 3 (15:09):
We we we wanted to get the transfer stuff into business.

Speaker 4 (15:11):
You know what I mean?

Speaker 5 (15:12):
I knew you were ready to.

Speaker 3 (15:13):
Talk about that, all right, pe All right, p man,
even though now you we always run over time, but
you are now running us real overtime.

Speaker 4 (15:21):
Who is your swine? Who's your swine?

Speaker 6 (15:23):
Never been a problem for you guys, right, never been
a problem for you, uh the Cincinnati fans uh.

Speaker 3 (15:29):
But it appears were out of time. That's it, got
p man, That is it. Apologize drop, We are out
of time here
