the Christmas holiday and get you ready for Panthers Seahawks.
A chance for the Panthers to clinch the NFC South
at the Bank on Sunday. If they beat the best

the Bucks, the Pans will clinched the division going into

Just got it for Christmas. It's the uh in case
anyone's wondering. Obviously, this is not a visual medium. It
is the the classic jersey from like from the nineties
with the with the checkerboard and the old chubby where
actually looks mean and has a helmet on. And I
think it's one of the best jerseys that I've ever seen.

And when it comes to the Hurricane stuff, I haven't
bought a new jersey for them in a long time.
I stole my dad's jersey out of his closet with

signs on the jersey.

Now, now the Hurricanes jerseys kind of suck. That's why
I don't. I don't buy them.

invested much of my own money into team gear recently.
I've just kind of relied on Christmas gifts because hockey
jerseys are expensive. Man.

can put around the house. Look at that that'll I
might leave him out until like New Year's and then

put them up just so I can, like you should
be like your mama till February and the mall mall
goes all the way pretty much to Valentine's Day.

year round tree and just living it up decorated for

then I was going through my stocking estray, I guess
we'll fill out the stocking, and then I felt shop

I don't want to take away because Dan Campbell still
deserves a lot of credit for that turnaround that franchise

coordinators were what made them, which is why they both

became med coaches. Although Aaron Glen's been a disaster with
the Jets, oh yeah, you think he's won and done now, Granted,
like you look at that Detroit defense, I mean that
secondary has been injured pretty much from whord go with
that offense. They were injured last year too, towards the
end of the year and they still were as good
as they were. So so yeah, I mean, yesterday was
not the way you want to get eliminated from the playoffs,

I think that was probably gonna be the the likely
result at some point. I didn't see Detroit do what
they had to do to get in. I mean, obviously,
my family, being Dallas fans, we were there. I watched
watch the Cowboys beat the Commanders, and that was it

know how you can seriously believe that because that defense

a team, you should have been able to completely shut
off that offense, which has not been great all year long,
and you should have been able. My thing is you
should have been able to score more points that offense.
I just I can't get there with that offense. I
cannot trust that group. And it's why going into the playoffs,

it will be a wild card team more than likely
that I am going to trust to make the super Bowl.
And that is a team that has not made the
Super Bowl since the nineties in the Bills. That's gonna
be the team that I'm gonna trust in the AFC. Yeah,
I mean, and I don't feel great about it, but
I mean, who else are you gonna trust?

The argument for Denver is their their unit is better,
Like like, Denver's unit is the best union of any
playoff team in the AFC, Like like their defense is
better than any offense.

get home field, how many teams are going there and winning.
We saw Jacksonville do it, but that was at the

playoff quarterback like Drake Made to go there and win.

because they're the most experienced team that's going to make
the playoffs.

for an advantage and they couldn't get to the championship

if Denver comes out of the AFC, I'm not gonna
be surprised because that defense can carry them to if

And look, I think there's a natural rivalry with the
Knicks and the Pacers because of the playoffs. I think

I mean I hope that they grow to hate each
other and that that carries over on onto the court,

prepare for on defense. You ain't who else on this

NFL's was a double teams he has to face. I

So he deserves a lot of a lot of praise
for that, and it just seems like the rest of
the league doesn't look at it that way.

you know, coming off a disappointing year four and eight,
one and seven, and the SCC after starting the season

preseason ranked I think it was eleventh or twelfth and
the eight peopole, and a lot of people thought the
game Cocks were poised to go to the CFP. That
turned out to not be the case, but their two
most important pieces for next year, with Norris Sellers at
quarterback and their pass rusher Dylan Stewart, both are set
to come back next year, which I think is a

good thing.

Obviously for Shane Beemer.

I think it does kind of speak volumes about what
he's created there in Columbia, where those two guys could
have endured the season that they endured with all the
expectations and falling short. But they want to stay with

they're getting compensated very well. You know, Lenoris was going

to be highly sought after it if he transferred, there
would have been, you know, in Miami, maybe North Carolina.

Some other schools that would have went after him.

If Dylan Steart would have went Portaling, he would have
been highly coveted because he's going to be a first
round pick in the NFL Draft whenever his college career
does come to an end. I kind of set the
topic up like this with those two guys back, and
there's so much unknown at UNC Clemson. Of all the
local disappointing teams from twenty twenty five, is South Carolina

on the inside track to have the bigger bounce back
season in twenty twenty six?

Well, of course, because this is a year where they're
gonna come in with no expectations. It's going to be
an even numbered year, and that seems to be the
years that we see this group throt'. It's the weirdest
thing under Shane Beemer, the odd number years they are
they struggle. Anytime they have expectations, they fall they fall flat.

But the years that they don't have any expectations where
people are like, yeah, how good is this team really
gonna be, that's when they always find a way to
put together a pretty strong season. And I think you'll
probably see it again this year. You've got a quarterback
who look, I don't think Wes was arguing with someone
on the text line the other day saying that he
believes that Leonora's Sellers is the next Anthony Richardson.

I don't think he's that inaccurate.

I think, you know, with Anthony Richardson, I mean, the
accuracy issues were very well known. I think Leonoris, just
you know, behind a terrible offensive line, really struggled this
past year. So hopefully they can remedy that offensive line.
That's gonna be the big key. They've got to be
able to run the ball a lot better too. I Mean,
they were absolutely horrible at running the football this year,

and that's a big part of the reason why was
so easy to just pin your ears back.

But yeah, I mean, you get Dylan Stewart back on defense,
You're hoping that, you know, another year for a lot
of those guys, they end up improving on that side
of the football as well.

I mean, hopefully he turns out to finally be what
they were expecting they were gonna get. I mean, he
was better this year, but he still isn't the guy
that I think they thought they were getting out of
the high school ranks. So I think they're in position
to be able to bounce back, mainly because you look
at you look at what Carolina is doing. I there's

there's nothing that guarantees you this is going to be
successful with Belichick at this level, even if he does
bring in Bobby Petrino, there still are some areas that
Caroline has got to be a lot better in than
they were last year. If they're running it back with
Goo Lopez, who knows exactly what that's gonna look like,
the expectations.

And then Clemson, I don't know that anything's changing at Clemson.

it's fun for us here locally, and I think it's
really good for college football because he's a sound bite

if he does not change the way that he's running
his program, and this will be the tell tell sign
if they don't hit the portal the way that other
championship caliber programs have went to the portal Ohio, State, Bama, Georgia.

And then I think that's going to be the writing
on the wall. And you know he's he said going
in that, Hey, we're gonna we're gonna be more open
to it, but we're also going to do this the
right way and wait until the portal officially opens January tewod.
If you're a Clemson fan, what's your hope is that
that's his message but not his action, Yes, because if

that's his action, they're gonna be behind when the portal
opens here in a week, Like when the portal opens
next Friday. You know, if they haven't been working behind
the scenes, they'll still get players because it's Clemson. Are
you getting the cream of the crop? That answers probably

think it's one of the best jerseys that I've ever seen.

that I am going to trust to make the super Bowl.
And that is a team that has not made the

came in. It was like an a FedEx bag and

it was the perfect sage for me to put the
two gifts that I gave him inside the bag. Like
as much as I love the gifts that I gave him,
it was the reaction because I knew he was gonna

Was like kind of it's kind of hard to wrap
a bag, and so like he was just looking at
not knowing what was inside. And I got him like
a Freddie Freeman ornament for the Christmas tree.

And and he knows how much, first off, I hate
Freddy Freeman, how much I hate the Dodger. So he
knew that, like it hurt when I swiped the credit
card to buy the gift, and I was like, hey,

was actually a pretty a pretty good gift, so oh
very nice. And then my brother I got him, you know,

book and he was already a third of the way
with the Dean Smith book on on Christmas Eve night.

I kind of chipped in together and got her some

guy Kuso on TikTok and Instagram and stuff like that.

as I think he was excited to use him, I'm
more kind of excited to see what he makes with them,

this year, big, big ninety five is on the field
and they're a top half of the defense in the
National Football League. How is that guy continuing to not
get the recognition he deserves for being arguably a top
three to five defensive lineman in this.

Because because people do read into the advanced analytics and
they say that, oh, well, you know, since Pro Football
Focus doesn't love them, well, then we can't vote for
him for the Pro Bowl. It's it's ridiculous because you
go back and look during that stretch of games where

You know a game that's in there that he struggled
was the Rams game. Did we watch that Rams game? Honestly?

Did you watch that game and say to yourself and
Derek Brown's having a tough day. He made the two

asking for. Man, Your interior defensive lineman don't have to
dominate all the time. But if they can come, if
if it's like this and they can come and make

last night, Travis Kelcey made the Pro Bowl. How the

hell did Travis Kelcey make the Pro Let's be because
let's be honest with ourselves here. Do we really look
at the way that Travis Kelsey has played this year
and say in the old way that they used to
vote for Pro Bowlers, that guy deserves to be in
the Pro Bowl.

Pro Bowl moniker has lost a lot of value and
a lot of weight. Secondly, Ultra nostalgia pointing this out

on the Fandel text on as well, that Derek Brown
was third in fan voting for for the Pro Bowl
for defensive line, but with the coaches and players he
did not make it in so kind of a La
LaMelo ball. And as much as it is frustrating that
Derek Brown didn't get the recognition there from from the league,
I'm not totally surprised by it. What really grinds my

gears though, is that he is still unable to be
bet on for Comeback Player of the Year. He's not
even like in the discussion of comeback Player of the Year,
but like Philip Rivers, has the third best odds, I
mean in that odds. So I think that's where I'm
more frustrated is that Derek Brown is not in the
comeback Player of the Year conversation.

he is feeling. Let's hear from Derek Brown. He addressed

to the Pro Bowl.

What are your thoughts on that? And you know what,
how did you feel when you receive the news that

definitely want the opportunity to be able to, you know,

one of those things, you know, I guess my periers
and the coaches don't think I'm good enough to be

and just keep working.

Does that make it sting a bit more because usually
it's the other the fans don't get it right, and
then the players and the coaches.

it's frustrated, but I mean it is what it is.
I still got a lot of a lot of ball
to play here, and so I mean, you know, I'm
looking forward to the opportunity for that.

There's yeah, there's I think you're gonna see, not that
he's not motivated. I think you're gonna see a pissed

the coaches and the players don't think this guy's Pro

Bowl caliber and It's like, dude, this guy kicks your
ass a lot of times on Sundays.

Yes, you would think that the coaches that he's played
against would have put him in the Pro Bowl. And
I mean, now other coaches. I mean, look, it's understandable.
You are coaching. This is why this is also flawed.
You are coaching your own team. Players are playing for
their own team. How honestly, how worried are you about

the rest of the league. I mean, you've got so
much that's on your own plate. How are you supposed
to keep up with everything else that's going on around
the league to know who should be in the Pro Bowl.
That's a stupid way to vote on the Pro Bowl.
I just feel like here, like, here's the thing.

With all the big games that Carolina's played in so
far this year, the game, the Rams game, the Packers game,
the Bucks game, you're telling me that going into these
Marquee games, it wasn't on the mind of Todd Bowles, Lafleur,
whoever we got to take away ninety five.

I mean, that's that's the main guy you got to
prepare for on defense. You ain't who else on this
defense orre you honestly saying, man, we got to take
that guy out of the game.

And I mean, like I don't have the Staton front
of me.

I would argue, he's what top three five in the
NFL's was a double teams he has to face. I
would expect that if he demands that much attention, it's
not because he's buns. So that would suggest to me
he's at least a Pro Bowl caliber player. And if
this was just a situation where there were just too

many good players to pick from, okay, I could maybe
hear you out.

Text line, Quinn Williams made the Pro Bowl and he's
been in the conference for like six weeks.

he had an all around great season, then I would
understand it. He was not good when he was with
the Jets. There's a reason he got traded guys his name. Also,

look at and when you put these guys, if you

honestly asked everybody in the league, who do you think
is a better player? I don't see how they would
possibly say Quinn Williams. And I think Quinn Williams is
a good player, a very good player. But do I
think that he's on the level of Derek Brown.

Like as you said, they this is a guy that
completely changes everything that you do.

Defensively.

You went from being one of one of the worst
defenses we have ever seen, were the worst run defense
that we've ever seen, to being a middle of the
pack defense and one that is, you know, on the
precipice of making the damn playoffs.

That's not nothing. That's that's huge.
Speaker 3 (36:50):
So he deserves a lot of a lot of praise
for that, and it just seems like the rest of
the league doesn't look at it that way.

Yeah, it's it just makes you wonder, like, wait, wait,
what does Derek Brown have to do? You can't remember
he was off the NFL top not play not play here. Yeah,
I mean that's basically that, that's the answer that you
you come to at that point. It's it's it's it's
small market bias. And because up until this year, this

organization has done nothing but lose on his watch, I
think it is it impacts the narrative around him, I think,
I mean, I ultimately think that's why Wes Bryant thinks
it feels the way he feels about Derek Brown.

He can use pff to to justify it.

But because Wes, you know, is a fan of a
proud organization, he thinks that you're only good if you
if you're playing on a winning team.

And it's like, no, you're a winning team. They're they're

what more do you want? But the past seven years
have been certified. But yeah, like you can't hold that
against this year.

But but it's happening because he's one of the best
interior defensive lineman this game has to offer.

Yes, I believe that he should be in the Pro Bowl.

But because the narrative on this organization under David Tepper

We had all the news around North Carolina and the
potential hire of Bobby Vatrina, which still has not been finalized.
Gotta love it, Bryce Baker entering the portal, Go Lopez
set to return. Talk about another team locally that's got
some pretty big news going into next year. That's South Carolina,
you know, coming off a disappointing year four and eight,
one and seven, and the SCC after starting the season

preseason ranked I think it was eleventh or twelfth and
the eight peopole, and a lot of people thought the
game Cocks were poised to go to the CFP. That
turned out to not be the case, but their two
most important pieces for next year, with Norris Sellers at
quarterback and their pass rusher Dylan Stewart, both are set
to come back next year, which I think is a

good thing.

Obviously for Shane Beemer.
Speaker 1 (40:47):
I think it does kind of speak volumes about what
he's created there in Columbia, where those two guys could
have endured the season that they endured with all the
expectations and falling short. But they want to stay with
that program and kind of see this thing through. Obviously
they're getting compensated very well. You know, Lenoris was going

to be highly sought after it if he transferred, there
would have been, you know, in Miami, maybe North Carolina.
Speaker 2 (41:15):
Some other schools that would have went after him.
Speaker 1 (41:17):
If Dylan Steart would have went Portaling, he would have
been highly coveted because he's going to be a first
round pick in the NFL Draft whenever his college career
does come to an end. I kind of set the
topic up like this with those two guys back, and
there's so much unknown at UNC Clemson. Of all the
local disappointing teams from twenty twenty five, is South Carolina
(41:41):
on the inside track to have the bigger bounce back
season in twenty twenty six?
Speaker 3 (41:45):
Well, of course, because this is a year where they're
gonna come in with no expectations. It's going to be
an even numbered year, and that seems to be the
years that we see this group throt'. It's the weirdest
thing under Shane Beemer, the odd number years they are
they struggle. Anytime they have expectations, they fall they fall flat.

But the years that they don't have any expectations where
people are like, yeah, how good is this team really
gonna be, that's when they always find a way to
put together a pretty strong season. And I think you'll
probably see it again this year. You've got a quarterback
who look, I don't think Wes was arguing with someone
on the text line the other day saying that he
believes that Leonora's Sellers is the next Anthony Richardson.
Speaker 2 (42:32):
I don't think he's that inaccurate.
Speaker 3 (42:35):
I think, you know, with Anthony Richardson, I mean, the
accuracy issues were very well known. I think Leonoris, just
you know, behind a terrible offensive line, really struggled this
past year. So hopefully they can remedy that offensive line.
That's gonna be the big key. They've got to be
able to run the ball a lot better too. I Mean,
they were absolutely horrible at running the football this year,

and that's a big part of the reason why was
so easy to just pin your ears back.

And get after Leonora's sellers.

But yeah, I mean, you get Dylan Stewart back on defense,
You're hoping that, you know, another year for a lot
of those guys, they end up improving on that side
of the football as well.

And then you get Nick Harbor back too.
Speaker 3 (43:16):
I mean, hopefully he turns out to finally be what
they were expecting they were gonna get. I mean, he
was better this year, but he still isn't the guy
that I think they thought they were getting out of
the high school ranks. So I think they're in position
to be able to bounce back, mainly because you look
at you look at what Carolina is doing. I there's

there's nothing that guarantees you this is going to be
successful with Belichick at this level, even if he does
bring in Bobby Petrino, there still are some areas that
Caroline has got to be a lot better in than
they were last year. If they're running it back with
Goo Lopez, who knows exactly what that's gonna look like,
the expectations.

Would not be high.

And then Clemson, I don't know that anything's changing at Clemson.
I don't I don't know that he's gonna that Dabbo's
gonna hit the portal hard. Like if you're if you're Dabo,
I think that's the biggin looking for like Josh Hoover,
Sam Levitt, like, these guys should be on your on
your contact list, you should be in contact with these guys,

But I don't think that's gonna happen. Yeah, they're the

Should bounce back the biggest because they're they're they're a
national championship pedigree program, right.

I think it's done. I don't see Clemson getting back
to where they were when they went to the CUS
Role Playoff five straight years. And I'm not saying that
I'm rooting for that because I like, you know, I
like when because his Dabo is such a you know,
polarizing figure, like when they're in the conversation. You know,

it's fun for us here locally, and I think it's
really good for college football because he's a sound bite
waiting to happen every time he's behind the microphone. But
if he does not change the way that he's running
his program, and this will be the tell tell sign
if they don't hit the portal the way that other
championship caliber programs have went to the portal Ohio, State, Bama, Georgia.

And then I think that's going to be the writing
on the wall. And you know he's he said going
in that, Hey, we're gonna we're gonna be more open
to it, but we're also going to do this the
right way and wait until the portal officially opens January tewod.
If you're a Clemson fan, what's your hope is that
that's his message but not his action, Yes, because if

that's his action, they're gonna be behind when the portal
opens here in a week, Like when the portal opens
next Friday. You know, if they haven't been working behind
the scenes, they'll still get players because it's Clemson. Are
you getting the cream of the crop? That answers probably
know because you know you haven't been doing what you

had to do and in terms of striking these deals
and these deals are being struck now.

Yeah, I said that when I heard that audio, I
said to myself, this seems this seems way way too
conservative from him, Like, if you're a Clemson fan, I'm

because I think you can still get some guys from

they're being talked to by these other schools, you don't

out and say, hey, we're going to talk to these guys,
but just don't say anything. Just go out and contact
these guys like that's what you're hoping for if you're

all the guys that you're losing to graduation or to
the NFL. There's gonna be a lot of areas that
you've got to plug this year, and the best way
to do that is through the transfer portal, not through
high school recruiting. So I'll be interested to see the
strategy there. But it's why I think South Carolina's probably
best position to bounce back. But nothing, as we've seen
with Shane Beemer, nothing is guaranteed. No, You're right, and

I think next year will be make or break for him.

They go eight and four, he'll probably have a job
in twenty twenty seven, if they're five and seven, six
and six, with just how fed up that fan base gets,
which is one of the richest things in sports, is
