Speaker 1 (00:00):
Tammy Jacobs.

Speaker 2 (00:01):
We've been trying to get her on the show. She's
so busy all season. Yeah, and she came in tonight
and we're so excited that Tammy Jacobs is here.

Speaker 3 (00:10):
Oh, come on, I'm with the two rock stars right here.

Speaker 1 (00:12):
Yeah. The only rock star in my opinion in this
room is that guy I'm looking at right there, the
same one you are back.

Speaker 4 (00:20):
All right.

Speaker 3 (00:21):
The fact that the fact though that she that she
agreed to.

Speaker 1 (00:24):
Come in tonight made me really really happy. Well, sure, well,
you ask people for things. You don't ask for much,
but when you do, people usually deliver. And you didn't
want to let Mac down? Right, Six seven three seven, one,
four to five the number for you to jump in
and ask Mac questions. It is week sixteen of the
regular season for the Titans. They host the Kansas City

(00:44):
Chiefs this Sunday at Nissan Stadium. We are on the
air on the network wise side for Titans Countdown Titans
Radio eleven Central. Then kick off officially at twelve o
two with Taylor Zarzer and of course the man of
the hour, dat be Maginnis. Let's go to the os
as we normally do. Right off the bat, Eric and Nashville. Hello, sir,
how are we eric you there? No, Okay, We're gonna

(01:14):
put him back on hold and see what's going on. Well,
I don't know what what's going on with him? That
normally doesn't happen. Uh, let us talk Mac about the
San Francisco forty nine Ers final thoughts as it pertains
to that game thirty seven twenty four. The Titans fall
in that and you know, it was a game where

(01:35):
the Titans did a lot of things right and then
they had some things that went wrong.

Speaker 2 (01:39):
Well, look going into that ball game, and we talked
all week, and first of all, that offense that the
Titans were playing against. I've been to that against that
offense since nineteen eighty six, you know, when Bill watshed
and so I told you the problems that you're going
you always have against that offense.

Speaker 1 (01:57):
And then when they lose three.

Speaker 2 (01:58):
Safeties just back to back in that ball game, that
is that was the most That's a game you do
not want to be missing some of your starters in
the secondary because it's a huge, huge challenge. I thought
what they did offensively, the Titans offensively, you found the
ground game again.

Speaker 1 (02:15):
And they were working very very well.

Speaker 2 (02:17):
They just could not get the forty nine ers off
the field on defense. They just couldn't get them off
the field. And as that continued to happen, was the
forty nine ers were not only moving the ball and
possessing the ball, that they were scoring touchdowns when they
did it. That was the big problem.

Speaker 1 (02:34):
And to your point, some of the transactions to the
Titans made today involved all of those three safeties they
lost during that ballgame. Mike Brown on the very first
play on special teams, then Kevin Winston Junior a little
later on than Xavier Woods. Mike Brown with an ankle,
the other two with hamstrings. They placed all three of
those on injured reserve, and then they picked up and

(02:55):
signed on the active roster couple of safeties, Eric Hallett
the second, a first year man from at five eleven,
two hundred pounds, and Sanoosie Kane, he's a former seventh
round pick two fifty overall of the Baltimore Ravens, a
second year man out of Purdue five eleven, two ten.
And then they also picked up a waiver claim from

(03:16):
the Cleveland Browns. They took guard Garrett Dellinger from LSU
a twenty twenty five seventh round pick of the Ravens
back last spring six five three point fifteen, and that's
a guy that had a lot of experiencing. I think
he had thirty four games he appeared in at LSU.
Twenty three of those games were started starts for him

(03:40):
and then a lot of those that left guard for him.
And he was one of those mac when we looked
at him in the draft process. He had high ankle
spraying or ankle injury. After seven games of the twenty
twenty four season, he had tightrope surgery and that kind
of messed up his whole draft process in getting into that.
But I can understand why they picked him up because

(04:03):
Kevin Zeitler has had some the injuries on the offensive
line is you know, mounting as we get late in
the season. Well, it is happening all around the league.

Speaker 2 (04:11):
I mean the team we're playing, the Kansas City Chiefs,
are going through that tammy. We can relate this to
because ever since I've been involved with you guys, I
keep saying just how tremendous the service is. But just
going in the door, you guys had Retinaye out there,
a couple of years ago just to take a look
at the new building and see what was going on.
But you get a sense, you get a real sense

(04:32):
of a feel of just being genuine people when you
go in there.

Speaker 1 (04:37):
I love hearing this.

Speaker 3 (04:38):
You know what you said. Do you remember what you said?

Speaker 5 (04:40):
You went in the you went into the commercial sales office.
It was before we had built the big new fleet
commercial sales center, and everyone was there and they were
working with people, and they had their sleeves rolled up
and they were just doing whatever it took. And you
were like, this is like a coach's office before the
first game.

Speaker 2 (04:57):
Well it was, I mean it was, and it was
so a and then but everybody, you know, when you
go into a place, just like going into an NFL facility,
you get a vibe, you get a feel for it,
whether people are happy to be there or not.

Speaker 3 (05:09):
People are happy to be at two verse four, absolutely.

Speaker 1 (05:12):
And the proof is in the pudding, because if you've
ever been to two Rivers, like we had that visit
with you that day, Tammy to see staff members, whether
it's a service tech in the service base or someone
in sales, been there two three four decades almost the
whole time. When you take care of the people, They're
going to take care of you. And so that's kind

(05:34):
of the Barker family's mantra as it's been to their
customer base. That's why, right, there's generations of buyers. You know,
there's grandparents taking grandkids in there to buy vehicle. So
no wonder why All right, Eric is back on the phone. Eric,
are you there, good buddy?

Speaker 4 (05:51):
Can you hear me?

Speaker 1 (05:52):
I can hear you loud and clear.

Speaker 4 (05:53):
What you got today?

Speaker 1 (05:55):
I did?

Speaker 4 (05:55):
What happened If that was on my part, I don't know.
We are Hey, guys, before I get to this past
sunstay and I want to say real quick, I'm going
to be there Sunday, hopefully looking forward to snapping that
eleven game losing streak against the Chiefs because we only
got two long games left and hopefully we can get
a victory because I want to be able to cheer
a game at home instead of having to cheer just

(06:18):
over the over the at home listen to a rogue game.
But unfortunately what happened to Patrick Mahomes hate that happened
to them. But then hopefully we'll get better and return
real soon. But as far as guys, this past week's game.
I'll be honest, I on them, was able to see
the first half. I actually went to a Christmas program
in this entire second half, and I hated that I

(06:38):
missed that Jeffery Simmons touchdowns. Heard about it from a
couple of friends as I was getting ready to turn
on my phone as the services just ended for my
Chrystmals program at my church. Heard that Jeffery Simmonson kind
of touched down past I said, what, just couldn't believe
it and saw the highlights later. Unfortunately, also, I hated
to hear the fact that his house got burglarized that

(06:59):
Sunday night, and so unfortunate where you celebrity and you
are out and you have to worry about your house
getting burgalized. It's just happening to you know, not on athletes,
but musicians as well as actors, and it's just really
ashamed of stuff like that goes on. But guys, my
question is concerned it's twofold in the game. First of all,
I was real happy for Tony Pollard him getting a

(07:21):
second back to back hundred yard game. Just wanted to
get your thoughts on that, is this the coach steps
it's more of a commitment to the run blocks games.
Just what are your thoughts about him getting a second
hundred yard game and just the play calling and trying
to get him more rushing like he did the Sunday previously.
But also these things are officiating and it's just so frustrating.

(07:44):
Saw that play. I guess it was you guys talked
about it on the radio Coach Mac where I guess
it thirty nine got called for. I guess it was
legal contact or passing affairs. I saw the replay. Horrible call,
and it's just some questionable calls on defense. I'm not
saying we won the game, but it's just frustrating to see,
you know, when you have those type of calls, And
just wanted to get your thoughts. And I know you

(08:04):
generally don't like to come in on officiating because I
know these crews get reviewed. I'm wondering if there's going
to be like more review about some of these officials
the next season. Uh, you know, just some of the causes.
Do you think it's kind of worse or it's about
the same. Just want to get your thoughts on that, guys.
Looking forward to Sunday y'all take care of we'll talk
to goods. Go tightens and tighten up.

Speaker 2 (08:24):
Eric.

Speaker 1 (08:25):
One thing for you to jump off the line. You've
seen the forecast on Sunday, right, Yeah, about a thirty
percent chance of rain. So you need to a poncho
option over the pancho that you.

Speaker 3 (08:34):
Have, Yeah, rain proof?

Speaker 1 (08:38):
Is your poncho rain proof?

Speaker 4 (08:40):
Well, well, unfortunately it's not because I couldn't wear it
till last year's game. In fact, I didn't go because
it was so damp and pouring down round. I actually
didn't go to the game last year because of the weather.
So hopefully it won't be but I do have a
plastic puncho I could probably wear over it.

Speaker 1 (08:53):
You'll see now you chance, but it's still three out
of ten. All right here, I appreciate you, Red'll take
It'll take care of you. With the weather fifty eight
for a high, but it'll be a little chilly in
the morning. I'm gonna answer the officiating thing, and then
Mac and pile on to let.

Speaker 2 (09:09):
Tammy answer the officiating thing. Okay's going to be shaking
her head. No, go ahead.

Speaker 5 (09:15):
You know.

Speaker 1 (09:16):
Here's the thing, Eric, there's bad officiating throughout all levels
of football. And my niece, who is in her senior
year and just finished her last season as the head
manager of her high school football team, she would completely
continue to talk about these things. And there's one thing
I learned in the Coach Max School of Ball, graduating

(09:38):
senior twenty twenty six. You're looking at him, is that
you can't do anything about it. They may find that
they're in error, and you get the apology letter from
New York or a phone call or whatever, it still
doesn't change what happened in the game. And if it
cost you a game, it's even worse. But there's not
a whole lot you can do it about it. It's
just it is what it is. And as long as

(10:00):
they keep having humans who are using motor skills to
determine things with the naked eye and then constant tweak
of officiating rules in the off season, every off season,
this is kind of what you have. Yeah, and look
I did.

Speaker 2 (10:16):
I said it on the radio, and I'm not Look,
I've been in this too long.

Speaker 3 (10:20):
In this league, but I know all these officials.

Speaker 2 (10:22):
They know they know who I am, and they and
when they hear that I am disagreeing with a call,
they know that. I'm not doing it out of any
type of malice. I'm just saying it's not. The thing
that bothers everybody in the league. Is the inconsistency of it.
There it is, That's the inconsistency of it. They're not
doing anything, you know, trying to be malicious, but that
that was a that was a really really poor call.

(10:45):
Uh in that game on the past interference, extremely a
poor call. And the other one that I thought Bones
Fossil was going to lose his mind on the sideline
was calling Big Jeff, you know, for illegal on the
center on the on the left field guard of it
that was missed and then they got to you know,
they got to retry it again with four more downs.
So I've got no problem criticizing calls. I have a

(11:08):
problem criticizing people, but criticizing the calls when it's when
it's not consistent. That's a big problem in this league,
and it continues to be a big problem in this league.
And it's not just it's not just the Titans, it's
in everybody else's eyes. Talk about Tony Pollard. Here's why
the run game's going so well. First of all, they're

(11:29):
getting hats on hats, and they're blocking people much better.
And a lot of these runs, especially the last two
weeks where he's had all this yardage, it's clearview runs,
which means that he's going unimpeded to the second level,
which means you're getting the correct hats on the correct
people and they're moving people. There was a time there
in the run game where they just weren't moving anybody,

(11:49):
weren't getting anybody moved, and weren't getting anybody blocked. Now
they're doing it not only the offensive line, eric they're
doing it the receivers. They're doing it downfield with the
tight ends. That is something that's really important, and it's
it's it's fun to watch because at least it gives
you a chance in the ball game, because two things
that always give you a chance stop the run with

(12:10):
your defense and be able to run the football so
you can dictate some of the tempo of the game
on o offense. That has been a plus in the
last two weeks. We've only won one of those two games,
but it was a plus watching both of those things happen.

Speaker 1 (12:24):
Three hundred and twenty yards on the ground. As a
team in the past two games combined, and that certainly
lent to fifty five points scored in the last two games,
which is there were stretches where there weren't fifty five
points in three or four games. Was that good enough? Explanation?

Speaker 3 (12:41):
Was good?

Speaker 1 (12:42):
Thank you? Nod in her head that that.

Speaker 5 (12:45):
Was good, which I think you're gonna get your contract resigned.

Speaker 1 (12:48):
Thank you. Hey, breaking news.

Speaker 3 (12:50):
He's gonna throw back against his body.

Speaker 1 (12:56):
That is a tight he uncovered, he got a touchdown.
Holy cow, you can hear me hooping and hollered back
there in the background too. It was a very exciting play. Mack.
He's an All Pro player on the field. He's an
all world guy off of it. Now, I'm just going
to outline a couple of things he's been doing lately.

(13:20):
First of all, he's been awarded the Tennessee Titans Walter
Payton Man of the Year for the third straight year,
and that's a big deal in the national football major
major deal. Jeff recently spent time with the Hunters Lane
High School girls flag football team, and through his Give
Him a Reason Foundation, he gave them a very nice
donation and then pledged further funds to keep that thing going. Forward,

(13:44):
and of course, the Titans started a lot of flag
football programs in high schools all over Middle Tennessee, and
that's a huge part of that. He recently also hosted
a holiday shopping spree for twenty of the littles, as
they called him in Big Brothers, Big Sisters, and their
families at a k Adamy Sports. He just keeps doing
awesome work in the community. You'll see him out all

(14:07):
over the place doing stuff like this, and he has
a huge heart and you can tell a guy from
very rural Mississippi never forgot where he came from.

Speaker 2 (14:17):
Well, the thing about that Jeff has done and I've
been around a lot of great players in my forty
year career in the National Football League. First of all,
I mean, he is a He's not just a Pro
Bowl player. He's an All Pro. Yep, he's one of
the best. But the things that he's done, and I
go back to when he was drafted, you know, he

(14:38):
had the ACL coming out, so he was probably gonna
be a top five pick. He dropped to number nineteen,
and when he was taken, I'll never forget, you know
what he said in his press conference. He promised Amy
Adams strunk. He said, I'll make you proud of me.

Speaker 1 (14:56):
And it's shor he star six years later and the
this history, he's the unquestioned leader of that team. Uh
and without question on the defensive side of the ball.

Speaker 2 (15:07):
Though. Let me tell you something else that they do
with that. I mean, you've as soon as soon as
the appointment is made, you're all, you're you're you're assigned somebody.
They send you exactly when it when they're coming, they
send you exactly when you're when it's picked up, they
send you exactly when it comes to the comes to
the shop. They keep you informed all the way along,

(15:29):
and the time frame that they give you is right
on point. You know, during the day, get you know, read,
We've got a lot of stuff to do, just like
everybody else does. But when they give you a time frame,
it's right, it's right in the time frame. I've never
had customer service like this in my life.

Speaker 3 (15:47):
Yeah, I mean, it's it's just outstanding.

Speaker 5 (15:50):
Well, it's it's cool because it is actually the same
price you pay at the dealership, so there's no up charge.

Speaker 3 (15:57):
So a lot of people prefer to have mobile service.

Speaker 5 (16:00):
Whistle will come out and change your oil breaks, batteries.

Speaker 3 (16:04):
Any kind of regular maintenance.

Speaker 5 (16:05):
But the Coach Mac, you know, they fight over who
gets to come to your car, right because they's a
big surprise.

Speaker 1 (16:11):
Of course they do.

Speaker 3 (16:12):
They get to go to the bubble, right, Mac.

Speaker 1 (16:14):
Is the notifications that you get in a real timeline
of exactly you don't they don't pick up your car
and you go, well, I wonder if they've changed the
oil and you know, done my brakes and rotated my tires.
It shows you a timeline of here's where they are yet,
and they're on their way back.

Speaker 5 (16:28):
They're just when you order a pizza, right, it's in
the oven.

Speaker 1 (16:32):
Your their orders ready for pickup or delivery. Yeah.

Speaker 2 (16:35):
They're so above line with everything they do. It's just incredible,
it really is.

Speaker 1 (16:39):
It's great.

Speaker 3 (16:40):
We found your play notes in the back seat, Yes
you did.

Speaker 1 (16:45):
Let's go back to the phones here, Terry and Franklin.
Good evening, Welcome to Mac Talk.

Speaker 6 (16:51):
Hey Coach Mac.

Speaker 1 (16:52):
Now are you Terry?

Speaker 3 (16:52):
I'm doing good? Thank you for calling in this evening.

Speaker 6 (16:55):
I think I'm correct. The last three ASC franchises to
make the Super Bowl would be the Chiefs, Bengals and Patriots.
Does that sound right?

Speaker 3 (17:05):
The AFC teams, that's correct.

Speaker 6 (17:08):
Okay, two of those have no shot. And let's say
the Patriots don't make it, or maybe you're picking them
to win it. So I'm just going to ask you
who's going to the Super Bowl from the AFC because
I just can't. I can't make a pick on that.
I don't know who to pick.

Speaker 2 (17:22):
You know what, even though New England got beat last week,
I kind of like that. I kind of like the
vibe that they're on right now. They're playing really good,
complimentary football, and that's what I always look for, you know,
all the years that I've been in the league, all
the playoffs that I've been to, the teams that I've
been on that have been that have had a chance
in the playoffs now in the National Football League just

(17:43):
because it's one and done, so you never really know.
But if you've got complimentary football going on on a
consistent basis throughout the season, you've always you've always got
a chance, and especially depending on where the playoff games
are that you have to play, if you've got a
defense that can travel and weather, you've always got a chance.

Speaker 3 (18:02):
I like New England's chances.

Speaker 6 (18:05):
Well, I picked at the beginning of the season, I
picked the Rams over the over the Bills, and uh,
it looks like that. I don't think the Bills are
going to have home field or anything. They may have
to win three games to get there. So to me,
it's just wide open. Don't you agree?

Speaker 1 (18:20):
I agree?

Speaker 2 (18:22):
I think you're I think your NFC pick with the Rams.
And again, how do I know. I mean, we're all
we're all sitting here watching the games week to week
the way the National Football League is. But the Rams
follow kind of that mantra that I've talked about of
having a complete team, you know, offense, defense, and special teams.

Speaker 1 (18:41):
I like your NFC pick quite a bit.

Speaker 6 (18:45):
Yeah, when they got Devanta Adams, I just felt like
they would be hard to stop on offense. They've got
everything on offense. The defense is kind of up and down,
But isn't that true for everybody. Uh, you know you're
gonna have to score points to to win Super Bowls now.

Speaker 2 (18:59):
Well, and the one thing they do have they have
a veteran quarterback that's been there before and that's important.

Speaker 6 (19:06):
Yeah, this is the I guess this is the best
team that Stafford's played for. I think they're a little
bit better than his Super Bowl team from a few
years ago. I think they are right. Maybe I'm wrong
on that, but they look awfully good. Appreciate it. Coach Max, thank.

Speaker 1 (19:18):
You all right, See Terry, thank you. Yeah. The only
thing I'd say with that is there's no Aaron Donald
on this team.

Speaker 2 (19:24):
That's a biggie. He was a pretty dog on good.
He was pretty good. That was a pretty good draft
choice we made.

Speaker 1 (19:30):
By today, Eric, if you're still listening, a weather update.
This is good. We have friends of the show Titans
radio meteorologists. The Great Davis Nolan says, loving the show,
thought i'd give you a weather update. It's only Tuesday,
but preliminary indications or that the rain chances will be
early Sunday morning, leaving before game time. Tempts in the
low fifties, little breezy north northeast ten to fifteen miles

(19:50):
an hour. That is a good man. Let me tell
you something.

Speaker 2 (19:53):
Just like Tanny Jacobs is a rock star, Davis Nolan
is a weather rock star.

Speaker 1 (19:58):
He is and I tell you know what is great
about him is he's the best man the man has been.
He was on Channel two for forty five years and
I mean a lot of us here have grown up
with him doing the weather. I am so happy to
see him, as the kids say, get his flowers. He
has been the Grand Marshal of I don't know how

(20:19):
many Christmas parades already there was. They did a Toys
for Tots event Channel two did yesterday and he played
Santa Claus. He's just a great human being. Great dude.
He's a rock star. He's just such a good person.

Speaker 2 (20:35):
He came up to the facility I think a year ago,
you know, and I met him and sat with him
for a while.

Speaker 1 (20:41):
I mean, what, just a good human being, absolutely all right.
So as we do in segment two of Mac Talk,
let's take a look and talk about the next opponent,
and they are the Kansas City Chiefs six and eight
in the AFC West Division. They have, for the first
time in eleven years, been eliminated from playoff contention, and
on top of that, they will be missing their old

(21:02):
world quarterback Patrick Mahomes, who had been reported to undergo
successful knee surgery at Dallas, Texas last night. And Macatt's
an a c L and an l CL. So that's
a little long.

Speaker 2 (21:15):
On that, A little bit red because you know when
that when that came out, there's a difference between you know,
just tearing that anterior cruciate ligament and then having the
lateral collateral collateral in there with it, and what happens
with that. I mean, I've just been doing this for
a lot of years. If they've got an l CL
with their a CL, the l CL requires them to

(21:35):
have a brace on for a while, which slows down
your rehab anyway, And.

Speaker 1 (21:41):
You're talking about a guy that has the mobility. So
I mean, we're gonna get through to the run numbers
in this in this offense in just a minute. But
it's telling kind of the kind of year they've had
on the ground.

Speaker 2 (21:57):
He was, he was their leading he was one of
their leading rushers. I mean, he puts a whole lot.
He puts a whole lot.

Speaker 1 (22:03):
Anyway, we know the effect that he that he's had
on the National Football League.

Speaker 2 (22:07):
And look, the chances of getting hurt playing in the
National Football League are one hundred percent.

Speaker 1 (22:15):
It is absolutely It's just a matter of degrees. So
here comes Gardner Minshew and Titans fans know him well.
The Titans know him well from his stints in both
Jacksonville and Indianapolis and Mack he has had success against
the Titans in six career games four and two, record
eleven hundred and ninety nine yards, passing eight touchdowns to
just two interceptions, sixty five percent completion percentage seven point

(22:39):
three yards per play.

Speaker 2 (22:41):
Yeah, and he's been a pissed when we've played him.
You know, no matter where he is, I mean, he's
a problem. So don't go if you go into this
thinking just because Mahomes is now not in the game
that it's going to be any kind of walk through.

Speaker 1 (22:54):
It's not. And the thing is, Gardner Minshew can run
the ball when he needs to get away from things.
He hasn't done a lot of that in his last
couple of years in the league, but he still has
a career average four yards per carry with five touchdowns.
But you're right, just because Patrick Mahome's not in here
does not mean, as you would say, that this is
an empty chair. This is this is a legitimate quarterback

(23:16):
who can operate this offense. And the operation of that
offense goes to one guy. It's Travis Kelsey. Because they
don't have a ton of help at wide receiver. They've
been trying to work through that. Beauxave you're worthy. I
think had a concussion in that game and that loss
they had the other day. So he'll we'll see where
he is in protocol. But Travis Kelsey still the guy.
Yeah he is.

Speaker 2 (23:37):
And again to me, can't you can't overlook any bit
of this team. Plus they've still got Steve Spagnola calling
the defenses and Andy Reid still calling the offenses.

Speaker 3 (23:46):
And so look, it's a challenge.

Speaker 2 (23:49):
Every week in the National Football League, and so Tammy,
you see when htt and I do this together, Rhett,
I can kind of give the overview of the football
and the football, but Reht's got the alphabet No, he
has got the alphabet numbers that he can back up
anything that he says.

Speaker 1 (24:07):
So you know, I do believe that Travis Kelsey's probably
winding his career down. I think we may see one
of the last games with him in a Kansas City
or any other uniform that remains to be seen. People
have talked about his declining game. This will be his
third straight season. He's tracking to be under a thousand
yards receiving, which is ridiculous. There was a day in

(24:29):
time where you go a tight end has a thousand yards.
He's still at seven ninety seven, five touchdowns. His catch
percentage in year thirteen over seventy two percent, so he's
still money. And that's the guy that they have to
guard against now the run game. As I talked about
a moment ago, the leading rusher right now is a
guy in his second tour of duty with the Kansas

(24:50):
City Chiefs in Kareem Hunt five hundred and fifty seven
yards and eight touchdowns. Mahomes was the second leading rusher
for this team six point six yards of care five touchdowns,
four hundred and twenty two yards. And then the guy
they drafted a couple of years back, Isaiah Pacheco three
ninety six and a score on the ground.

Speaker 2 (25:08):
The thing about Mahomes is rushing, though all of them
come at critical times when he's moving the chains.

Speaker 3 (25:13):
That's what's very, very critical with him.

Speaker 2 (25:16):
How many times have you seen him with the Titans
playing against him. I've seen this guy ever since he's
been in the league.

Speaker 3 (25:24):
When he needs to run, he's running in really important times.

Speaker 1 (25:28):
Absolutely, absolutely, when we come back, we'll flip to the
Chiefs defense. We will also look around the National Football
League schedule for Week sixteen that includes a couple of
Saturday games as we get closer to the holidays. We'll
continue to take your phone calls and questions two at
six point five, seven, three, seven, one, four to five
as you listen to Mac Talks. That's the next ball

(25:50):
game coming down the Pike Sunday at Nissan Stadium. Coverage
begins at nine am here on the Zone. We're on
the air network wise at eleven. Kickoff at twelve o
two with Mac and Taylor's Zarzer. We hope you'll join us.
And by the way, when we're done with the show, everybody,
I know you're probably waiting to listen to this, but
valls are taking on the Louisville Cardinals and basketball tonight

(26:13):
and Tennessee up thirty twenty four Tennessee right now, very
close to being the end of the first half, so
we'll join that in progress here in just a few minutes.
I've left off Mac with the Kansas City Chiefs defense.
I'm gonna give a little snapshot of this and I
got a question to follow up there before we look
through the league's regular season Week sixteen schedule. It starts

(26:37):
with Chris Jones who is basically their Jeffrey Simmons three
hundred and ninety five pass rush reps this year, four
quarterback sacks, thirty nine pressures, one of the quickest getoff
times in the league at his position at zero point
sixty eight seconds. Twenty of those thirty nine quarterback pressures
have come in under two and a half seconds. That

(26:58):
leads the league. That George car loftis another guy up
front that crashes the gates. He leads the team with
six quarterback sacks and fifty four quarterback pressures. The second
tier has their excellent leading tackler and Nick Bolton the linebacker,
along with Drew Tranquil and Leo Chennall secondary, Trent McDuffie,
Brian Cook. I mean, I have players throughout the three

(27:19):
levels of this. What makes it difficult to play against
the Steve Spagnolo defense as a.

Speaker 3 (27:23):
Whole, Well, first of all, he's a very multiple defense.

Speaker 2 (27:26):
And then look just like we have Jeffrey Simmons, and
it was kind of like the matchup between Jeffrey Simmons
and Miles Garrett a couple of weeks ago. This is
Jeffrey Simmons and Chris Jones. I mean these are just
two beasts. I mean, just you know, these guys make
a difference no matter what football team they're on. Reminds
me a lot of when you know, Joe Green was

(27:47):
my defensive line coach for eight years at Arizona when
I was the head coach out there and the defensive coordinator,
and he'd always tell me, Mack, when we go out,
look for defensive linemen, we need to look for bears
that will walk on two legs. Well, this is what
Chris Jones is. He's a Jeffrey Simmons and so he's
a problem. You mentioned Karl Loftus, you mentioned some of
the other people, but Jones is the guy that stirs

(28:09):
the drink on defense.

Speaker 1 (28:11):
And then the special teams unit is always pretty dog
gone good in Kansas City, and of course you know
it's highlighted by a guy that's a kicker like Harrison Bucker.
But that phase will be a battle to watch Sunday
as well. Absolutely.

Speaker 2 (28:23):
I mean, Dave Tobbs one of the best special teams
coaches in the league.

Speaker 1 (28:27):
I mean, Andy Reid's got a great staff.

Speaker 2 (28:28):
I mean, you don't win all those games you win
with players, but you also have to have a real
competent staff, and so you still got Andy calling the
calling the offenses, you still got Dave Tobb working the
special teams, and then Spags has probably got more Super
Bowls as a defensive coordinator than any other coordinator in
the league.

Speaker 1 (28:48):
And there you have it. So, I mean, it's just
going to come down to a few things in this
and we'll get to coach Max Keys here in a
couple of minutes, but the secondary against Gardner Minshew and
Travis Kelcey and those receivers is going to be very
interesting because, I mean, you put three safeties on injured
reserve today and you're bringing in guys off the street.

(29:08):
And so that's just something that will develop as we
watch the injury report and things throughout the week and
see what's going on. Speaking of the week in the NFL,
it's week sixteen already, hard to believe that, And we're
going to look through the league sklate.

Speaker 3 (29:24):
Of games, ready, Tammy, and Tammy.

Speaker 1 (29:26):
Jacobs is going to give her prediction Coach Max's instruction.

Speaker 5 (29:31):
Don't bet on my predictions a word to You're not responsible, Yes,
you're not responsible for this right.

Speaker 1 (29:37):
It starts Thursday night and our caller earlier that was
talking about the Rams La Rams at Seattle, and that
is the Thursday night game on Amazon. That's already a
tough one.

Speaker 2 (29:49):
Who you got, Who you got, Tammy, That's a legitimate.

Speaker 1 (29:53):
Game, Division division game.

Speaker 3 (29:55):
I've got the Rams now, you know what I'm with?

Speaker 1 (29:58):
You See, how would you're I think we agree with that? Yep,
I would be the third to agree with that. Good job, Tammy,
Good job. And then we have two Saturday games as
we get around Christmas and the holidays here, and that
starts with an afternoon game on Fox Philadelphia. The Eagles

(30:20):
are at Washington to take on the Commanders and an
AFC East Division battle.

Speaker 3 (30:24):
Go Tammy, I'm going to go with the Eagles.

Speaker 1 (30:27):
Me too, Yes, very smart, very smart, very good. And
then the night game that is part of a doubleheader
on Saturday, Green Bay is at Chicago in a battle
of the NFC North.

Speaker 2 (30:39):
Well. That's the game that I was involved with for
ten years when I was working there at the Bears.

Speaker 1 (30:43):
That is a real rivalry. It's the oldest one in
the league, oldest one in the league.

Speaker 3 (30:46):
Go Tammy, I'm gonna go to Chicago, and you.

Speaker 1 (30:49):
Know what I can't disagree with that either.

Speaker 3 (30:52):
Also, just because you're here, coach, Okay.

Speaker 1 (30:54):
Thank you, Tammy. But it's a good pick. It is
a good pick because with the biggest stars in the
league went out with season ending injuries. On Sunday, we've
talked about Patrick Mahomes. The other one's Micah Parsons, their
pass rusher for the Packers. So that's that moves the
needle and changes things a little bit for them.

Speaker 2 (31:12):
Well, when we started this whole segment, Tammy says, look,
you know what, I just really don't know if I'm
gonna be She's right, every one of them.

Speaker 1 (31:18):
Yeah, every Well, she's three and zero in my opinion, Yes,
all right. On the Sunday slate of starting out with
the noon games, here is an NFC South Division rivalry game.
Tampa Bay goes to Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte,
North Carolina to take on the Panthers.

Speaker 2 (31:35):
This one's not as easy, and I think we'll have
split decisions on this one.

Speaker 3 (31:39):
Go ahead, Dammy, I'm gonna go with the Panthers.

Speaker 1 (31:43):
I like it. I would not disagree. No, she's right,
I would not disagree. The Tampa Bay's hurt.

Speaker 3 (31:49):
Maybe do bet on my picks.

Speaker 1 (31:51):
Maybe do bet maybe maybe? All right, how about this one,
Buffalo is at Cleveland to take on the Browns.

Speaker 5 (32:01):
Tammy, I'm just gonna go with Cleveland because I have
a soft spot in my heart.

Speaker 2 (32:05):
Okay, and you know what that is. That is that
is more than fair. Buffalo will probably win it. But
that's fair that you did that.

Speaker 1 (32:12):
And you clarified.

Speaker 3 (32:13):
My grandfather is from Cleveland. Well see he's a Brown.

Speaker 1 (32:16):
There you go. Now, you got to connect, you to
do it, you got you gotta do it. You got
a connection. How about the Los Angeles Chargers at Jerry
World to take on the Dallas Cowboys.

Speaker 2 (32:25):
Okay, this one, this one, the Cowboys are up against it.

Speaker 1 (32:31):
I got a one percent chance of making the playoffs.

Speaker 3 (32:34):
I'm gonna go with the Chargers.

Speaker 1 (32:36):
Bingo, bingo. How about the Cincinnati Bengals at Miami to
take on the Dolphins and their head coach Mike McDaniel
answering a question today that Tua Tongua Belowa might not
be the quarterback when we get to that game on Sunday.

Speaker 2 (32:54):
Bengals Bengals, Bingo, Dammy, You're gonna come back on the
show more often.

Speaker 1 (33:00):
He's gonna be the the Swammy. Sammy. Uh, the Jets
at the New Orleans Saints, that is at noon at
the super Dome. Both teams are struggling. Both teams are struggling.

Speaker 2 (33:13):
Tammy, I'm gonna go with the Saints again again, I can't.

Speaker 1 (33:19):
This is what I would do. She's money, Tammy.

Speaker 2 (33:23):
You were you were you were sandbagonists a little bit,
you were you were sand bagganists, a little bit on
your knowledge of this league.

Speaker 1 (33:31):
The Vikings, who have had their ups and downs, are
at MetLife to take on the New York Giants.

Speaker 3 (33:38):
I'm gonna go with the Giants. Okay, that's an interesting
pick right there.

Speaker 1 (33:42):
That is an interesting pick.

Speaker 3 (33:43):
That's an interesting But.

Speaker 1 (33:44):
With the way Minnesota's played, you know, stranger things have happened.
I'm not going to bet against her right now. How
about the Atlanta Falcons at Arizona in the house that
coach Mac built to play on the play the Cardinals
at three.

Speaker 2 (33:55):
Oh five Cardinals, And you know what, I think there's
a good reasoning behind that.

Speaker 3 (34:03):
I really do good job, all right, here's one.

Speaker 1 (34:07):
Is it pertains to the AFC South Jacksonville is at
Denver to take on the Broncos at three oh five.

Speaker 3 (34:13):
Go Tammy, I'm gonna go with Jacksonville.

Speaker 1 (34:16):
They're playing hot. They're they're they're they're hot.

Speaker 2 (34:19):
Denver's tough. Denver's tough out there at Denver. I think
I might lean.

Speaker 1 (34:23):
Now, sure, you don't watch the league with regular the
league all the time, I think, because here's the thing.
If I'm not mistaken, Trevor Lawrence had like a career
game Sunday, six touchdowns. Yeah, she's on top. Pittsburgh at
Detroit three twenty five.

Speaker 3 (34:41):
Oh my gosh, I'm gonna go with Pittsburgh.

Speaker 1 (34:47):
Mac, I'm telling you there you go.

Speaker 5 (34:49):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (34:49):
The Raiders are at NRG Stadium to take on the
Houston Texans at three twenty five.

Speaker 3 (34:54):
Texans Bingo.

Speaker 1 (34:57):
New England is at Baltimore to take on the Ravens
on Sunday night football. Big game, big big game.

Speaker 5 (35:04):
I mean, I'm gonna go with the Ravens because my
brother lives in Baltimore.

Speaker 1 (35:09):
It's a tough place to play anyway, that's a good reason,
and that's a tough place to play. And then Monday
night wraps up the schedule. San Francisco is at Indianapolis
to take on Philip Rivers at quarterback and the Indianapolis Colts.

Speaker 3 (35:23):
I'm gonna go with the Colts.

Speaker 2 (35:25):
That's interesting, and again, playing in playing in Indy, traveling across
the country, I think I would lean towards forty nine ers.

Speaker 1 (35:34):
But we'll see. There's a whole lot there that she
said that I wouldn't disagree.

Speaker 2 (35:39):
I would think her percentages sounded pretty good tonight.

Speaker 1 (35:45):
All right, Mac, as we normally do, what are your
keys for the Tennessee Titans as they play the Kansas
City Chief Sunday at Nissan State.

Speaker 2 (35:52):
Well, the first thing, you can't underestimate the quarterback. You
just can't. Don't go into it underestimating this quarterback. You
got to continue to run in the football like you've
been running it. And you've got to be able to
make Kansas City one dimensional. Now with the issues they
are going to have in the secondary, let's just be honest.
The razor thin back there, you've got to at least
stop the run and make them one dimensional. And then

(36:14):
Bones Fossil somehow has got to manufacture some plays on
special teams there.

Speaker 1 (36:19):
It is thanks to Tammy Jacobs for being our star
co host this evening.

Speaker 3 (36:24):
Thank you for having me. I enjoyed it.

Speaker 1 (36:26):
For Joseph Bonano running everything so smoothly behind the glass,
for coach Mack, for Tammy, I'm Ret Brian. We bring
you in progress to Tennessee and Louisville little men's basketball
on the Ball Network that will come up here just
shortly on your home for the Titans and the Valls
one oh four to five The Zone
