Neste episódio, Francisco Pinto Balsemão lembra a revisão constitucional de 1982 sem entrar em pormenores técnico-jurídicos. "O objetivo político principal era dotar-nos de uma Constituição que nos permitisse viver numa democracia de padrão ocidental", afirma. "Para tal, era essencial acabar com o Conselho da Revolução, criar um Tribunal Constitucional e subordinar as Forças Armadas ao poder político democraticamente eleito e flexibilizar o sistema económico". Balsemão explica ainda a importância de "definir melhor os poderes do Presidente da Repúblico", acelerar as negociações para a entrada na CEE, planear a regionalização e a autonomia das regiões da Madeira e dos Açores.

"Os tempos em que desempenhei as funções de Primeiro-ministro de Portugal nunca foram fáceis", admite o fundador do Expresso. O plano económico e financeiro em que Portugal se encontrava, o agravamento da situação mundial com a subida de tensão perante o bloco soviético, os atrasos na assinatura do acordo com a CEE, a força da oposição que se opunha à revisão constitucional e também a estratégia de desgaste dentro da Aliança Democrática, são os principais pontos destacados por Balsemão. 

Neste sexto episódio da terceiro temporada de 'Memórias', Francisco Pinto Balsemão pretende "dar conta do que, durante os dois anos e meio em que fui Primeiro-ministro de Portugal, pretendemos fazer em matérias de transformação estrutural do nosso sistema político, económico e social".
