Um mês depois do grande apagão, na véspera do Dia Mundial da Energia, já começa a ser tempo de se fazer uma avaliação do Estado do sistema Eléctrico Nacional. Ainda não se conhecem oficialmente as causas do apagão, estão a ser alvo de relatórios parcelares para integrar num relatório europeu preliminar no final de setembro deste ano, e o relatório final só será divulgado em setembro de 2026. Mas há muitas perguntas que se podem e devem fazer agora e que exigem respostas mais rápidas. É importante perceber se o Sistema Elétrico Nacional poderia ter reagido melhor à falha de energia das ligações com a rede espanhola, se tivesse mais centrais a gás natural a funcionar ligadas a rede nacional.
Está ou não o sistema eléctrico nacional preparado para enfrentar novos riscos de apagão? E o que foi entretanto feito para reduzir ou minimizar esses riscos? Estará a transição energética, com a aposta em cada vez mais fontes de energia renovável, a ser feita demasiado rapidamente, criando instabilidade na rede e incerteza nos abastecimentos? Será melhor parar para pensar, ou a transição energética é mesmo para levar até ao fim, com Portugal a antecipar as próprias metas combinadas com a União Europeia, numa atitude de bom aluno e ao mesmo tempo de cobaia de expediências de resultado incerto? Porque é que os sucessivos governos nos prometeram mais independência energética com esta transição, e o que temos é cada vez mais e mais importações de eletricidade de Espanha? E porque é que os políticos nos garantem que as renováveis fazem baixar os preços da eletricidade mas a fatura aos consumidores continua a ser muito elevada, estando as famílias portuguesas a pagar o oitavo preço médio mais alto da Zona Euro?
