Speaker 1 (00:10):
You're listening to a MoMA Mia podcast. Mamma Mia acknowledges
the traditional owners of land and waters that this podcast
is recorded on Hi Friends, it's Lee here. Here's another
episode of You Beauty for you because we're finally answering
quite a common question. We get asked a lot, and
so if we get asked a lot, you might be
wondering too. Have a listen and see if it helps.

(00:33):
Makeup is my therapy love? I'm obsessed and I don't
even feel guilty of body. Hello and welcome to You
Beauty the podcast for Your Face.

Speaker 2 (00:45):
I'm Lee Carrol, I'm Killan mccharen and Lee has just
told me that I look like I'm from Copenhagen.

Speaker 1 (00:50):
Yeah, you should have been in the Street Style Fashion
Week vibes. You've got a silk satin bandana in your hair,
a lovely butter lemon yellow niche and a glossy lift.
Yeah that, well that's not very Copenhagen. But where's your bike?

Speaker 2 (01:04):
Well, you know what, I'm wearing bare feet, so that
also is probably by Bee. But like biking with bare feet?

Speaker 1 (01:08):
Is that the vibe? No?

Speaker 2 (01:10):
Speaking of if you are thinking, why are they describing
what they're wearing. If you're thinking in your head, my mam,
I I would quite like to see Kelly's Copenhagen vibe
and uh everything. Well you can, but if you're listening
in the morning, please note that the YouTube video goes
live at nighttime, so episode always drops in the morning

(01:31):
and then it goes up on YouTube later that night.

Speaker 1 (01:34):
So podcast drops at like five thirty am, sometimes six
because I'm up that early, or maybe it's just my
feed is updating, and then about seven pm the same
day you can watch. So have a listen on your
drive to work and you get home, have a watch.
Oh that's a Lord of Us on the bath or
one or the other in the bath. You told me,
I'm proud, I'm really impressed doing it. Yeah, so it's

(01:55):
a little bit later, but then if you're catching up,
you know it's the next day or later. You can
pick ears or eyes, ears or eyes all.

Speaker 2 (02:03):
Right, So every single Monday, we answered two of your questions.
So if you do have a question, please slide into
our dms e at you beauty atmomamea dot com dot au,
write in the Facebook group. We don't mind, but we
do answer real questions.

Speaker 1 (02:17):
CMUs demas take a screenshot and send it to the
whole Senders have.

Speaker 2 (02:21):
To do exactly, although sometimes please reiterate if it's for
the podcast or if it's just fast, because sometimes open
a message and I'm like, is this for me or
the pod?

Speaker 1 (02:28):
Well, oftentimes I'll say that's a great idea for the
pod because if it's a great question that may other
people might people might be thinking it. I couldn't help,
but wonder ask me anything. You ask many questions, Rachel
asked us, Hello OD listener here. My question is about
keeping my makeup looking fresh all day. I use lots
of glowy based products and then sometimes put the tiniest

(02:51):
bit of setting powder on my shiny forehead and under eyes,
and then CT Flawer's setting spray. But by the end
of my shift I look haggard. Af help M. I mean,
you're the glow expert, I know, but your notes are
a lot longer. My notes simply say, alas, you have
to put down some of the glow products because clearly
it's just not worth Yeah, well that's the short answer
for sure. I mean, really, it's par for the course

(03:13):
with glow, glow and longevity. Don't really go together unless
it's like a powdery, shimmery highlighter glow. But I think
you want like radiance, juicy glow, right, I think that's
what she is referring to. So I would first address
what skin care you've got underneath, because that matters. Every
layer you put on will kind of add up to

(03:33):
a recipe that's the cake, you know what I mean.
That's a terrible analogy because glow can be sort of
an illusion or a look, not real texture. So I'm combo.
So I use my cerums, then I use quite a
modifying sunscreen, but then I'll use certain glow products to
get to a glow level. But I still need powder, yes, exactly.

Speaker 2 (03:54):
And it's like a science really because you're like adding glow,
then removing some and then adding a little bit more.

Speaker 1 (03:59):
Exactly that error really and also then which foundation. There's
just so many variables. So a really good sunscreen that
acts as a PRIMI is the mecha to save face SBF.
It's in that black tube. It's very popular. I tried
to buy some the other week proper big tube, and
all the mechas were sold out, so I bought lots
of the little minis Oh it's great. I've got five

(04:22):
thousand half open ones all through my house, so that's
really nice for kind of priming your skin because then
you've done all your juicy skincare that's going to do
this skincare stuff, but then you can choose your glow
from scratch sort of thing. So I think priming is
a really important thing here. I'm not sure if you're
doing that there. So also Elf Cosmetics the Power Grip primer.
That primer is so grippy, so it's like a little green,

(04:44):
sludgy kind of gel if you can use it. I
use it quite often, but the other day I wasn't
paying attention. I put it all over but also under
my eyes, and that's not where I really want it
to grip because it just gripped my conceal as so
much they couldn't even kind of blend it in or
tap it in later. So I would try a primer,
then use those products that you're liking. I wonder what

(05:05):
she has foundation she's using. I really need to know.
Even if you.

Speaker 2 (05:09):
Like I know how much you love the glow, but
I actually think that you should be and even I
do this as someone who's dry, but loves a glow.
If you want your makeup to last all day, I
would go for more of a satin, velvety yes, space yes,
rather than something that's like a skin tint or something
zieramui and seramine hydrating, just because the longevity there isn't

(05:33):
great and you've got a lot better chance of your
makeup lasting and looking amazing all day if you add
more glowing afterwards the finishing touches exactly.

Speaker 1 (05:43):
That's a good point. And I was thinking I'm combo
and even for me, like, for example, the esday lorder
double Wear like it's long lasting, but to map for me,
the esday Lorder Doublewar sheer long lasting, but got a
bit of a velvety satin blow. So maybe it's just
looking for different variants. And then if you're a glow girl,
you're just gonna have a little touch up bag. You

(06:04):
just need it. Just pop to the bathroom and have
a little a lot of the kbd jbut like tiny
little comps of translucent are so good. You just and
I'll check in a bit of a juicy concealer.

Speaker 2 (06:16):
I just will like maybe throughout the day use a
little bit of pressed powder just in like my under eyes,
on my chin and on the marionette line, yes, and
maybe in the center of my forehead. And then if
I'm wanting to bring the globe black, then I will
use the Charlottetobery or another sort of glowy setting spray
just to bring my skin back to life.

Speaker 1 (06:37):
Yeah, she's using that one. I wouldn't recommend another one
just in case. It's the Laurel Paris Infallible three second
setting misted. It's fourteen dollars. It is like spraying hairspray
on your face, but it does not change in any
way whatever you've got. If you've got a really matt look,
it'll just keep it like that. If you've got a
really glowy look, it'll keep it like that. But it's
like putting it behind glass, like oh okay, it is

(06:58):
locked in. I really like that one. I remember and
Vernon this was months ago. I think I recommended it.
We were in the office and she's like, this is
like hairspray, and I was like, well, I can now
day we did.

Speaker 2 (07:07):
We did use has spray and we ironed our hair
with irons. He did, and it's really good. So I
just tweak. I would try primer, I would assess you foundation,
and I'd take.

Speaker 1 (07:16):
A little trouble kick all right. Question two is so fun.

Speaker 2 (07:25):
Lucy has asked my bestI is turning thirty next month,
and I'm completely stumped on what to get her. She's
obsessed with skincare but has literally everything already. Budget is
around three hundred dollars. Any ideas for something special that
screams welcome to your thirties, thanks in advance.

Speaker 1 (07:39):
This is the most fun question in the world.

Speaker 2 (07:41):
I know.

Speaker 1 (07:41):
Do you know what I did?

Speaker 2 (07:43):
One of my responses were thirty favorite products that she
will love, wrapped individually. It's so much fun. I did
that for my best friend. But then I was like, it, masks,
that's not enough money, well exact, and I knew that
you were going to say that, so I literally made
a spreadsheet and shopped and bought so many.

Speaker 1 (07:59):
Quiz this isn't your real life or for the answer
for the answer, I did it because I knew that
you'd go new We're gonna have to link this spreadsheet.

Speaker 2 (08:05):
I'm gonna have to link this spreadsheet because I, I mean,
listen some of the things I was like, I was
trying to get through it quickly.

Speaker 1 (08:11):
It is so hard. I did forty gifts on the
one day for my husband freeze forty yet did you
spend more than three hundred dollars? Yes, but also some
of them because he's from Melbourne, like every scattered throughout
was a video out and it was a treasure hund on.

Speaker 2 (08:22):
No, I did thirty beauty products for three hundred dollars
because I didn't just look at Macas for a price line.
I looked at I did k Beauty now Polishers Kmart, Like,
just give.

Speaker 1 (08:31):
Me a couple because we can't run through throughty products.
I'm not going to it. I'll just just know a
couple that's on there and are we putting them? You
could do pass the parcel, just pass it to herself,
but I don't know. That was just the first thing
because I was like, I love that. I just love
I like.

Speaker 2 (08:45):
Doing little things like that because it's just fun.

Speaker 1 (08:47):
Oh my god, I love doing my husband.

Speaker 2 (08:48):
I did thirty for thirty for my best friend. I
can't but not thirty beauty products.

Speaker 1 (08:52):
Yes, of course not.

Speaker 3 (08:53):
No.

Speaker 1 (08:53):
My husband's was very mixed and by the end it.

Speaker 2 (08:55):
Was just like, I'm not doing forty for my husbands
don't do it all in one day, because well just
I wouldn't do it.

Speaker 1 (09:00):
I have my time was set and we were like
out for brunch and then anyway, but let's go in
too nice like luxury. Okay, well my list is quite long.
This might need to be in article on the website.
So I just had a girlfriend's fortieth a couple of
weeks ago, and we did a similar thing. A group
of us pulled money and one of the things we
got her was the Jomlone fragrance because they do personalized engraving,

(09:22):
so you go into store depending on where you're based,
and pick the beautiful thing and then they engrave whatever
you want on their you know, initials or fortieth or
thirtieth or whatever. They are beautiful. David Jones and Maya
both have incredible treatment options in store, and most of
them are redeemable on product. So book it's like two
presents in one that's exactly right. And then what you

(09:44):
do is you say to her, Okay, well you've got
to tell us she's having a facial. I wouldn't like
to be surprised, but you say, okay, I've booked you
a facial. It's had a shopping center. So we're going
to go and have brunch, then you go have your facial,
then you redeem your products. Then we go for a
shop and then we go for a wine and like
make a day of it. Fine, it's so much fun.
You would do something like that. Actually, you're very thoughtful.
Tokyo head spars are everywhere going nut, so that's kind

(10:06):
of like a day spar slash facial for your scalf scalp.
Someone's scratching your scrup and washing your hair. And my
for my birthday, which was back in March, I got
three Tokyo heads spar vouch. It's like gold. You want
such nice friends? Yeah, you know what for this one
place in Sydney must be the best. I can't book
in it is so flat out and so busy. Maybe
we'll do it later. Another one. Oh my gosh, I

(10:27):
love this so she was my birthday. A lot of
hotels that have nice day spas. If you book a
treatment then you can use the facilities all day, like
the pool or the hermum or the whatever like the
hemmam and or steam room and pool. So in Sydney
I love to do the Langham because you can use
the pool all the time or the QT spa. I
often go, well, actually that's all, that's all I lie.
Before I had my child, I would go in spring

(10:48):
for a full body scrub and like get on winter off.
And then they've got a beautiful steam room hammam that
I would just go in forever. Should I keep going?
Please some really nice sort of matching embroidered, like a
robe with her initials or something own in joke, and
then some towels and a face washer, like a whole
set in her skin care. I just want a ginormous
candle for myself, so I'm recommending the malanoettes Bergamont Supercandle.

(11:13):
It's two hundred eight nine dollars stonormous. I would like
that one, so luxuryous. I've got so many. And then
if she's will into makeup and skincare, you could just
get a few little things, maybe some of Kelly's little things,
and put them in a really lux personalized beauty bag.
So there's some from love Isabelle Jewelry does some beautiful
embroidered beauty cases. Letherology does an extra large train case

(11:33):
it's two hundred and ten dollars, and mon purse also
does a leat the toiletry bag that it's personalized. That
is such a nice idea. Oh my god, I wish
I love thinking about birthday too. They're all really expensive.
I'm just like I wish I was I had a
billion dollars because I would love to give them to
all my friends. She's asked for a budget of three
million dollars. I'm talking about her. I just can't do that.

Speaker 2 (11:52):
The only other things I would add well, as Lee said,
like with an experience, so something like Mecha offer fragrance
like discovery discovery sessions, so you can book in for
a discovery session, so you can book that in for her,
and then the voucher to purchase the freight rents that
she falls in love with. And because fragrance is so

(12:14):
hard as well, you can't unless you know what she likes.

Speaker 1 (12:17):
And you say she's a skincare lover, I reckon she's
kind of ticks that bit off. Yeah, well that's why
I'm like, she's a beauty lover, then yes if yeah,
yeah yeah, Or get her a spa voucher, but something
that's really pampering but effective, so it'll be really good
for her skin as well as like really lovely. So
I was thinking a book out facial what was like,
Oh God, yes, yes, your face looks so good afterwards.

(12:39):
But it's really lovely face from the inside in your
mouth and it looks like you've had a face lift,
or like one of those hectic, expensive, crazy, exciting, like
two hour sessions where it's like part face, part body,
part beautiful exactly, just something lovely two A couples. Oh
that's so long? Can you please let us know how
it goes? Lucy? I want you to be my best friend.

Speaker 2 (12:59):
You're so thoughtful, so thoughtful, this is so lovely. Let
us know what you end up choosing.

Speaker 3 (13:04):
Yeah, what a you makeup packs?

Speaker 1 (13:17):
Lee wants to talk about a Kerry flex.

Speaker 2 (13:19):
I think you're going to be mad at I swear
to God if it is feet, I've got my feet
out at the moment, I can get my feet out.

Speaker 1 (13:27):
No, please don't, Kelly, Okay, So gosh, how long ago?

Speaker 2 (13:30):
Long term listeners of the pod? Not even long term
if you've listened in the past six weeks. Lee and
her team MoU.

Speaker 1 (13:36):
Toes there was a journey people dm me on Instagram
like jokes about they'll be like Lee's feet. Well, how
do you think I found out about this? So long
story short, I'm very ADHD spatial awareness bad kicked off
both of my big toes. Then tried to not just
I'm in toenails, and then I use the Kmart stick
on toenails, which didn't say on. So I used real

(13:57):
life super glue, which you want me to do? And
my toenails fell off. I talked about it. However long
ago I opened up my dog however long a lot. Yeah,
but like what that was like four weeks ago. I
opened up my DMS the next day and like five
or ten amazing newbies were like, Lee Campbell, You're not alone.
I have a solution. It is called Kerry Flex. It's
quite hard to come by. You have to go to

(14:18):
a podiatrist. It is a pediatrist pedicure for people that
have basically no toenail or like a teeny tiny stub.
So I found a podiatist in Alexandria. Here in Sydney,
it was two hundred dollars for two big toes I
could have had. I could have had up to five
toes done for two hundred dollars. All my other nails
are fine. So they put it on. It's not as

(14:40):
durable because it's more malleable. Because it's completely breathable, your
nail heels and grows underneath, whereas if anything, you know
that you get gel or a crill corde, but it's
kind of suffocating the nail not good for it. So
that's why it's pedetists to it. It's like an actual
medical thing. So now my two big toes have fake toenail, well,
like this Kerry Plex, can you show me? I actually

(15:01):
want to see it to see if they look real. Well,
you're wearing a ballet flight you can kick. I'm gonna
show you. It looks like I've had quite a bad
acrylicto now, but I had no toenails. Yeah. I know,
I can't show you this one because I've already accidentally
kicked that one off again. But look, yeah, I can't
tell that looks like just a toe. Yeah. And she

(15:23):
said it should last eight weeks, and I was like, oh,
i'll see you next that she has not met you
three weeks ago. What a great all the UB's that
told me? And you know what, then I keep getting
DM saying, oh, don't worry, Lee, I'm in Italy just
rocking out with no toenails, and I'm.

Speaker 2 (15:36):
Like, yeah, I don't think that people are looking at
your toes that much unless it's like yellow, like really yellow.
I had no tone, now I know, and I just
don't think that people don't. When you click the link,
it says, do you have an oddly shaped toneil due
to an injury?

Speaker 1 (15:51):
Do you have ridges or discolouration, or just don't like
the appearance? Kerry Flex can help. Yes, it's amazing, but
it's expensive. But if you don't want to walk around
with no toenails. Also, it's going to protect like because
it's a sensitive little areas like nude like that skin
was like I've never been here before, I've never been exposed.

Speaker 2 (16:09):
Yes, so I highly recommend. Mine is also quite random.
Today I am wanting I really like satin accessories. Today
You've got a satin headband on and what is that?
I really want to talk to you about this because
I think that you're gonna love it too.

Speaker 1 (16:23):
It is called a collar up. It's a bib.

Speaker 2 (16:25):
It is like a bib or it's a fake collar
that you put on your clothes to stop makeup getting
I could put my white T shirt on first and
then do my makeup, because what I do currently is
do my makeup and then I try and stretch my
white thing over over your head. You can do either,
so you can put this on before you put your
white shirt or yellow jumper.

Speaker 1 (16:46):
I got really cute, so for people not watching, it's
a little magnetic bib. It's magnetic, yes, but it looks like,
you know, ho's quite cute. Oh my god, I'm getting one.
So it's literally like a child's bib that they would
eat with, except it's shorter. It's double sided, and you like,
I know, you know when you go to like, oh
you can eat crab places or something and you kind
of stuff your servi it down your top. It's a

(17:09):
bit like that, but way more shit kind of.

Speaker 2 (17:11):
But it's magnetic, so it's double sided, so you're literally
not gonna get makeup on your shirt on the inside
or on the outside, so you or jump off whatever
you want. So you can either put it on and
then pull it over your head to protect if you've
already done your makeup to protect it, or you just
put it on when you're doing your makeup and it's
you know, when you're blending down and then you're like,
oh yeah.

Speaker 1 (17:30):
You're like it's gone on my top or I can't
fully blend, and then you just would wipe it off afterwards?
Who thought of that? How cool is it? I wish
I'd have said that, what's the brand? Collar up?

Speaker 3 (17:39):
Co?

Speaker 1 (17:39):
Okay? And it's on the internet, yes, thirty seven ninety five.
And then nut's your one off purchase. I wish t shirt.

Speaker 2 (17:45):
So it's pretty expensive for like a small little bib. Yeah,
but it's double sided.

Speaker 1 (17:49):
It's genius. For me that wears white T shirts four
times a week, you need one of the cops. So
of course I'm gonna wash it. But how much nappy
sand do I buy? Exactly? Well, this is way cheaper
than nappy sand. That is genius. Of those two Hosex
were phenomena, they really were.

Speaker 2 (18:04):
But on that note, we'll be back in your eyes
and years later on in the week.

Speaker 1 (18:08):
You is sure will. And in the meantime, there's so
many places to catch up with us. We are on Instagram,
