But like the same but in like similar veins. So
there must be a vibe out there, or maybe.

Speaker 2 (01:43):
Delightful if that makes sense. Melinda sent well, I was
going to say, Melinda sent lea DM on Instagram. I'm
Lee him Melnda, Hi, Lee, I have a question for you, beauty,
if that's okay. I read your newsletter about oily hair
and to wash it twice. Thank you for reading my
you buddy newsletter.
Speaker 1 (01:58):
Subscribe in the show notes correct and I know to.
Speaker 2 (02:02):
Clean my face twice thanks to you and Kelly. So
now I'm thinking should I wash my body twice? Do
people do this? And if so, what are the benefits.
Speaker 3 (02:11):
I've got a pretty good memory.
Speaker 1 (02:13):
I don't think in the seven years we've been doing
this we've been asked that question. No we haven't, or
even an iteration of that question.
Speaker 2 (02:20):
How clever to carry the logic through to like all right,
the hair? Yeah, the face? What about the bold?
Speaker 1 (02:24):
My first reaction is that it doesn't matter as much
because A, we don't use as much product on our
body that we do on our face and our hair,
and b you.
Speaker 2 (02:33):
Don't care of what looks like as much exactly.
Speaker 1 (02:37):
Because we cover our bodies or most of it anyway,
So like who get time?
Speaker 2 (02:42):
Yeah, like you start up here and then you who cares.
Speaker 3 (02:44):
By the time you get to your feet? It's all
oh I like feet though? Oh no, yeah don't. That
was my fault for getting you started.
Speaker 2 (02:51):
But you know the debate like do you wash from
yourknees down? Like do you wash your shins?
Speaker 1 (02:54):
I mean, yeah, I feel I have like a huge
problem with people's lack of hygiene though, yeah, and I
don't get me started with generally like shave and stuff,
we pay more attention to our shins.
Speaker 2 (03:03):
I don't recommend wash their shins anyway.
Speaker 1 (03:06):
It's not like you have to scrub it but you
just like soap your body, scrub it.
Speaker 2 (03:10):
No, I can't scrub it, but I lother with firm
touch anyway, not much moderate touch. Respond to Molinda, so
great question and very good. You know who knows what
we do? Only if you think it's needed, is my answer.
So let's consider our hair and face. What we're doing
is the first cleanse is to kind of lift away
(03:31):
debris and product build up, which might be sunscreen on
the face or dry sha on the hair.
Speaker 1 (03:35):
Makeup, Yes, so much exactly on your face. It's not
just sunscreen. Think about it. On your face. I mean,
how many layers of skincare do you do? How many
layers of makeup do you do? Yes, plus your sunscreen.
And then on your hair, you've got your protein masks,
your gloss, you sweat, tangler, you sweat, then you dry sham.
Speaker 2 (03:55):
Tell you've used the last day to try and get
a slip back. Fun.
Speaker 1 (03:57):
On your body, you've got like sunscreen on parts that
are exposed, and then like moisturizer.
Speaker 2 (04:02):
Most of your body odor comes from your body. Anyway,
here's hits. That's not always true for everybody, can true true?
Wait until it's the heart of summer. And here with me.
Speaker 1 (04:10):
So listen, wait till I'm premonopausal, likely and then I'll
be like, I regret everything. Are you trying to say
I smell, No, but you're always hot, so assume you
get stinkier than you used to.
Speaker 3 (04:19):
No, I've never smelt you.
Speaker 2 (04:20):
Oh my god, I've got to go and smell myself.
Speaker 3 (04:21):
Anyway gets stinky some Alenda's question.
Speaker 2 (04:25):
So for the face, it's usually like an oil or
a balm, and then you go with a second cleanse
a gel or a foam. So for the body, if
we're applying that logic, you would do like a oil
body wash and then a regular body wash. I would
flip that. So if I had been wearing body soundscreen
after the beach, or just I always do my decolotage
(04:46):
any exposed areas or are you looking at me weird
because I'm just no, because.
Speaker 3 (04:50):
I've just appreciating your chest skin.
Speaker 2 (04:52):
Oh thank you, because it has makeup on it. So
you know, if my chest is exposed, I'll do some
sort of body makeup or you know whatever bronze. So
I would do an exfoliating wash first.
Speaker 1 (05:03):
Really good.
Speaker 2 (05:03):
Also if you just try and scalely if you want
to remove fake ten if you just feel gross, and
then I would finish with the hydration, so something really
hydrating and nourishing to kind of put them oisted back.
So almost sort of opposite what we do on the face,
because the face is to like lift, the oil lifts
the way they make up. Do you agree? Also, if
you sweat a lot and or are active or have
body breakouts, definitely are at double cleans.
Speaker 1 (05:26):
Yes, and maybe even consider implementing like a chemical exfoliant.
Speaker 2 (05:30):
There's a bunch of funny you might mention that I've
brought some recommendations. Can I tell you for in the
shower though, Yes, Oh, this is what I would do
far to double cleans thoroughly after something that made me
need it. The FSN Clearing AHA and salicilic acid body
wash thirteen bucks or the Frank Body Triple acid body
wash thirty two dollars, and then I would do that
(05:52):
wash that off, and then I'd come in with the
bioderma Atoderm Ultra Nourishing Shower Oil Cleanser forty three ninety nine.
You know how much I love that one. That's a
leiter pump, like it almost takes up my whole bathroom,
but it's so nice. All The other really good one
is the Dermal Therapy very dry skinwash that's twenty three
ninety nine. I think that might be lead it to
so you don't have to go fancy or boogie, especially
if you're having too But I would get like the
(06:14):
chemical EXFOLI ain't like they're really like thorough cleans done
and then pop some hydration back on in the shower,
but then moistures when you get out. I agree that
was a lot.
Speaker 1 (06:22):
If you can't be bothered in the shower, you could
also just sort of target different areas that you do.
You get more congested with one of those chemical exfolient
body sprays. Yeah, so Paula's choice, Dormological, Youured, and TBH
all have great options. The TBH one is the most affordable.
It sits at around thirty dollars depending on where you
get it from. The rest are a little bit pricier.
And I also do a chemical exfolient or just a
(06:44):
witch hazel under the pits every few weeks because that's
where I tend to get built up.
Speaker 2 (06:48):
I remember saying that. And yes, of course, if you
wear antiperson deodorant or like a clinical deodorant. You're gonna
want to do something.
Speaker 3 (06:55):
Right tanning, Yeah, just all those sorts of things.
Speaker 2 (06:58):
Yeah, and actually the oil is really good at removing
the deodorant, so flip it around whatever way you want.
But yeah, you can double cleans your body if you'd like,
or you could just.
Speaker 1 (07:04):
Use your regular cleanser, but actually use a washer or.
Speaker 2 (07:07):
You mean your body wash. Don't use your nice face.
Speaker 1 (07:09):
Sorry, Yeah, a body cleanser or a do you use
a washer sometimes or a silicon body brushy thing not
a washer, not all that often, it'll only be scrubbing
off old hands.
Speaker 3 (07:22):
Yeah. I do really like how clean I feel.
Speaker 2 (07:24):
Though, when I share it with my mom, she's like,
I am like, I'm getting the shower and ticking me
towels and she's like, and a washer yeah, and I'm like,
but then when she's gone, she goes, oh, the wash
is still dry.
Speaker 3 (07:33):
It's like as if you didn't bathe properly.
Speaker 2 (07:34):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (07:35):
Yeah, it's because they use a washer every time they bathe.
Speaker 2 (07:39):
But it works. Okay, Well that helps hopefully. If you
would like to double cleanse your body, please do so.
If you feel good with your current routine, proceed.
Speaker 1 (07:52):
All right, so the message that I got was, Hi, Kelly,
I need to know about a specific cleanser touch of
the rice wash. Why all the fuss about it? Like,
why is it so good? Can you ladies explain and
maybe share some more affordable alternatives? Loll And this really
peaqued my interest as well, because I'd been into Meca
just that day that I opened this DM and it
(08:13):
was at the front of their store, sold out, so
people popular. It's so popular. I haven't tried it.
Speaker 2 (08:20):
I don't think I have many moons ago. I buy
the little Aqua, the water cream, but only by the
little ones because I don't know what because we try
so many different things. But it's great for travel anyway.
Lets me give you a little bit of a backstory.
Speaker 3 (08:32):
So she's got a history, lest I do.
Speaker 2 (08:34):
I knew most of this that I liked refreshing my
notes for this lecture. So Tacha was founded in two
thousand and nine. So however long that Ago was, I'm
not good with mass, but not lot.
Speaker 3 (08:45):
Twenty years.
Speaker 2 (08:46):
There you go. Tucha is an American brand founded in
San Francisco. But Vicki had dermatitis and then she was
traveling around Japan. I think two thousand and eight and
was like, Wow, these skincare products and these rituals are
simple and gentle, and my skin is so happy. Home
she goes and creates Tucha bing Bang Bong goes crazy.
So many of the ingredients are sourced from Japan, but
(09:08):
Taucha is now owned by Unilever, which is a big
umbrella brand that owns a lot of brands. Yes. Correct,
So Touch of the rice wash currently in Australia one
hundred and twenty mils is sixty nine dollars. What are
your thoughts, O, Well, you haven't tried it, but you
would have been able to look at the marketing and ingredients.
Speaker 3 (09:24):
I think that it looks fantastic.
Speaker 2 (09:26):
The packaging is all beautiful, that's it's purple.
Speaker 1 (09:28):
The packaging isn't ideal for me though. The packaging is
a tube, yeah, because I don't like a cleanser in
a tube personally because I'm lazy and I cleanse my
skin in the shower, so my preference is a pump.
Speaker 2 (09:38):
What about if you're going on holiday, well then yeah.
Speaker 1 (09:40):
I'd much prefer a tube, but just for my preference
at home, I get it, I get it, but I
love products with rice in them. They're very good for
acne a lot of the time. Why are you giggling?
Speaker 2 (09:50):
I don't know why. Just because you said rice. I
was like picturing like a big bowl of rice, and
then I thought, you know how you put your phone
in it? Anyway, my brain goes blady.
Speaker 3 (09:56):
You were you want me to put you on a
big bowl of rice? Dry you out?
Speaker 1 (09:59):
When you're being all silly. I swear different pair VETSI
so I have been using different rice products. It was
this beautiful Loxeton rice water, but the rice is in
the product O take and it is popping off at
the momently.
Speaker 2 (10:15):
Kind of exolient, a bit, a bit like your favorite
Dermologica daily microfolime or do you like it the other one?
Speaker 1 (10:21):
No?
Speaker 3 (10:21):
No, no, that's the one.
Speaker 1 (10:22):
I would say that this from reading about it is
a lot less aggressive.
Speaker 2 (10:26):
Oh totally. It's a cleanser, but it's that kind of
like it has something manual expoliation but very very gentle.
Is at the end of your answer, Yes, I think that,
and I also think like, yes, it's very expensive, but
unless you're using a lot of it, one hundred and
twenty meals actually should last you a very long time. Yeah,
I agree exactly. That's so true actually, because I think
it's a couple of reasons. I've used it, although a
(10:46):
long time ago. But interestingly, when I read this question,
I was like, I remember what it felt like. Whereas
a lot of you know, cleanses, I could be like, oh, yeah,
I think I liked don't know, I definitely didn't, you know,
but I liked this. So it starts off like creamy,
not like a bomb, but like I guess, a cream,
and then it turns into a lather, but not a stripping,
foaming labber. So it's really nice and sensorial. And I
think we've talked a lot about sometimes like a step
(11:08):
that's so boring feels a little bit nice.
Speaker 3 (11:11):
Sensor oil makes you want to do it.
Speaker 2 (11:12):
It's a bit what's fash Yeah, And so there's finely
milled rice powder in it, so it is that very
gentle excoliation, but still kind of in the cleansing category
because you can do it every day. Some people say
it's a double cleans. I don't think it's a double
cleans for heavy duty removal. But it's pretty fara.
Speaker 1 (11:28):
It's got nothing in it that's going to take like,
when you've got like a lot of oil products on
your face, you need an oil to get it off.
Speaker 2 (11:34):
Oil loves oil. And then I just think the brand
looks beautiful and has status. There's amazing reviews, so there's
probably a bit of fomo American brand with Japanese ingredients
of Japanese heritage. I guess I've done some research. So
the best bet for you are from the KBD and
JBT stores and brands. I'm from Rice Whip facial cleanser.
You're gonna get it for about twenty five dollars. It's
(11:55):
on all those stores online, so just literally chuck it
into Google and then press the shopping tab and you'll
find the cheapest place SRB Stabilized Rice Brand Enzyme powder
wash twenty eight dollars. Now I'm giving you a recommendation
that's even more expensive, but it sounds amazing. Oh this
is hydropeptide. Remember we talked about that brown. Yeah, the
hydropeptide foaming cream cleanser. It's eighty dollars. So sorry, but
(12:19):
like it's an alternative and it's got phenomenal reviews. And
then lastly, there's a website called the Face shop, and
they have an entire range made from rice water and
other ingredients. So there's the Face Shop Rice Water Bright
cleansing Cream fifteen bucks. So you could combine that with
the Face Shop Rice Water Bright Rice brand foaming cleanser
because it's sent kind of the cream to the foam
(12:41):
but the other Yeah, and that's nineteen bucks, or just
check out the whole range. Yeah, you reminded me that
I like it. A little goes a long way. If
you can find a similar one, maybe I made action
a lot of money.
Speaker 1 (12:52):
I did read like a Reddit thread and they talked
about a blog that went really viral in America where
they said that the notorium fermented rice enzyme cleanser.
Speaker 2 (13:01):
We don't have that, do we.
Speaker 1 (13:03):
Well, it came up when I looked.
Speaker 2 (13:05):
At it in Australia though.
Speaker 1 (13:06):
Sorry. Oh it was sold out though, so I won
are if that's because of this recently viral that they
were saying, it is an incredible alternative and it's half
the price and the same amount of mills. We love
nourium mauria, So that's another option to look into.
Speaker 3 (13:20):
It said like it had option for adding to cut.
It's just that it was sold out. So I shook
it on that weightless girl.
Speaker 1 (13:26):
Yeah, so I assume you can purchase it. Hopefully that
gave you a little bit of food for aught or
other options to look into.
Speaker 2 (13:33):
And it's not a kind of a new ingredient on
a new science. You think back to two adds about
the Japanese women who made all the rice in their
hands were like so beautiful and soft, and that's how
they discovered that rice water was softening and antiaging and strengthening.
Speaker 1 (13:52):
Okay, Lee, beauty bite, what's your beauty bite?
Speaker 2 (13:54):
Beauty beat? So for those that aren't watching on YouTube,
let me give you a visual description. Three your ears.
I am wearing a white score.
Speaker 1 (14:04):
If you didn't have your little jacket on, it look
like you were going to tennis.
Speaker 2 (14:07):
Okay, it's not a jacket, it's a denim. Shit, but
I thank you. Yeahs, I'm covered. I'm wearing a white squort.
Does everyone remember the dish scored from two seasons ago?
I'm bringing it back. Okay whatever, A white tank from
came up. This is my third white tank I put on.
You'll understand in a moment, a denim like a big
dnim shirt that's got a really cool thing on the
back but cares anyway. I don't why were describing all
of this and some moccasins this morning. I was in
(14:29):
a mad rush because when an I not but I'm rushing, rushing, rushing,
decide on this outfit, idiot.
Speaker 3 (14:34):
It's all white.
Speaker 2 (14:35):
I am also covered in bruises and just not desirable.
So I was like, right, I'm going to get out
my body bronze foundation and mix it with some moisturize,
which I do.
Speaker 1 (14:43):
A lot, but when you're wearing what you're well thought process,
no ing bong.
Speaker 2 (14:48):
Excuse me, I normally reach for the moisturizer level that
I need, So I thought I reached for like this
really fast absorbing, quick drying moisture that basically matt right,
So I've mixed with that a million times before, and
then you could swim innute sort of thing, and you
didn't because it was the same brand, lost slightly different
color Rush Rush Rush, and I reached for their like
juicy oil, delicious, nourishing, slippy, slippy. I don't know why
(15:12):
I didn't just change my outfit, but I was determined
to wear it, so I put on actually I put
on a different white skirt disaster, and I was like,
I have to wad scort, put on the score, put
on the tank great, ready to go, turn around the
whole back of the tank like brown marks. And so
I was like, I got out my giant can of
el net elmet hairspray. Flexible hold will do, but you
(15:32):
want stronghold if you've got it. And I just went
to town on myself in the shower wearing I think
I took the score back off like my bra and undies,
and I just covered my whole self in hairspray.
Speaker 1 (15:42):
Your skin must feel disgusting. It's not great. So the
reason I'm telling you about.
Speaker 2 (15:46):
This, but it does. It literally sets it. Yeah, because
back in my day there wasn't setting mists. We used
hairspray on our face right younger than me.
Speaker 3 (15:54):
No, no, no, we absolutely did.
Speaker 2 (15:56):
So anyway, lo and behold, I get to work. I'm
sitting next to Amelia Lestu. If anyone listens to Mama
mare out loud. We get to sometimes see each other
and we're in love with each other. And she's like
the smartest person in the world, Like went to university
with Mark Zuckerberg, but she goes oh and also don't
hag me too close. I tell her the whole thing
and she goes, that's genius. If you ever talked about
that on your beauty And I'm like no, because I, oh,
(16:17):
she's beauty bite. That's so great. Hairspray will set anything.
Speaker 1 (16:22):
It is so good that, like on your clothes.
Speaker 2 (16:24):
Thank you. So now you might see if you look closely,
there's still transfer there. I wish I had spray. It
is the color of my tank before I put it on,
because it then creates that Barrieres hairspray for life.
Speaker 1 (16:34):
So this is a bit interesting because before we started recording,
I commented on how beautiful your tan is.
Speaker 3 (16:39):
It's not a tan that's makeup.
Speaker 2 (16:41):
Well, it's the l effect body bronze like effects. The
Australian content creator Elf Ferguson she makes el effect. I
would never wear it on someone. It's full body, like
full coverage foundation for your body. So I would do
like one tenth of that inner moisturize.
Speaker 1 (16:56):
But that's all you've got on. You don't have a
tan on no, I won't.
Speaker 3 (16:59):
My very word, yes.
Speaker 2 (17:00):
So the colors like it's very brown, like it's not
too warm, there's no really green hand. Yeah, and that's
I would say, Actually, that's probably two weights. So what's
that a quarter? Why?
Speaker 3 (17:10):
I don't know number.
Speaker 2 (17:12):
I always mix it with like a certain amount of moisturizer. Wow,
I really want to try that though. It's really good.
You buy it from Meca. I buy it for Mecca, Okay,
And because I mix it like I've had that for
like three years. What's yours? Oh my god, I know
what she is going to say. Bobby pins exist, and
so do these?
Speaker 3 (17:28):
Well you think I'm going to say that Q tips exist?
Speaker 2 (17:31):
Someone with surprised.
Speaker 1 (17:32):
No, what I'm going to say is that, I mean
when nearing the talent, but it is still spring. Hay
fever season is rife. I don't know about you, but
when I'm trying to do my makeup sometimes my eyes
will just start watering.
Speaker 2 (17:43):
Yes, and my nose.
Speaker 1 (17:44):
Yes, nose isn't as much of an issue when you're
trying to do your eye makeup.
Speaker 3 (17:49):
So this is so random, but I swear it works.
Speaker 1 (17:53):
You get two Q tips and on the side of
the top of your nose where you can feel it
tingling if you need to sneak.
Speaker 2 (17:59):
Yes, sorry, I hate that feeling. Can I try it. Yeah,
you just go like this and does it stop it?
Speaker 1 (18:03):
And you press quite firmly the side of your nose
where you can file it.
Speaker 2 (18:08):
With my fingernail. But then I everyone on my base
because I like end up having fingernail bits.
Speaker 1 (18:12):
Well, if you just use your CUE tip, then it's
way easier to fix your makeup, and then you can
just use the Q tip if your makeup has watered.
It just stops it in its tracks.
Speaker 2 (18:20):
Try it. I was gonna say, would get a new cutup,
but I'm just about to poke myself with yours.
Speaker 1 (18:23):
Press in the spot and you can feel that it
would work because it just stops it.
Speaker 2 (18:27):
I mean, I don't have the thing got to start with,
but this feels quite cathartic, right. So do you want
to know what? I thought you were going to say
that Q tips exist? No, I thought you were going
to say you stuck them.
Speaker 1 (18:36):
No, that wouldn't offer enough protection. I just put a
balled up tissue up my ease.
Speaker 2 (18:39):
That's what I do. No, not balled up. You have
to roll it up like all it aale and then
you stick it up and up and people.
Speaker 1 (18:44):
Think it's strange, and I'm like, what stranger is drying
my nose out further and also not being able to
do my makeup or.
Speaker 2 (18:50):
Yeah, using the hardcore natal spray for more than three
to four days because it's didictive exactly on that you
take those DIRTYQ tips back from me, like the one's
pointing one's not.
Speaker 1 (18:58):
Okay. Well that's all we have for today.
Speaker 2 (19:01):
I believe that was entertaining or educational. Thank you so
much for listening. Now, don't forget if you are listening.
