Speaker 1 (00:10):
So much.

Speaker 2 (00:10):
You're listening to a MoMA Mia podcast. Mama Mia acknowledges
the traditional owners of land and waters that this podcast
is recorded.

Speaker 3 (00:19):
On whoever said orange is a new pink with seriously
disturbed laurels for spraying groundbreaking? Oh my god, you have.

Speaker 2 (00:27):
To do it.

Speaker 3 (00:28):
You live for fashion.

Speaker 2 (00:31):
Hello, and welcome to Nothing to Wear, the podcast that
solves fashion problems and levels up your wardrobe. I'm Lee
Campbell and every week I chat to an expert who
helps us work out how to get more out of
the clothes we already own and tells us exactly what
isn't isn't worth adding to our wardrobe. Now, this is
going to be fun depending on how you feel about

(00:51):
star signs. Have you ever thought that your star sign
could somehow influence what you wear? Some people believe it,
some people don't. I'm somewhere in the middle. Let's see
how I feel at the end of this. So joining
me for a two part is Natasha Webber, also known
as Astrotash. She has over twenty year years experience in astrology.
I've actually worked with Tash before many moons ago. Get it.

(01:14):
At Cosmo. We're going to take a fun approach to
astrology and use it through the lens of fashion to
work out what signs are typically wearing, what they don't wear.
Are they daring, are they tailored? Are they classic? Let's
get into it. Tash, Welcome to Nothing to Wear as
an astrologist. Have you ever done a fashion podcast before?

Speaker 1 (01:34):
I never have, but I love a bit of fashion,
so I'm very happy to be here.

Speaker 2 (01:38):
I'm so excited and I just love looking at fashion
through all the different lenses, and astrology is such a
clever one to do. So before we break down each sign,
because we'll do six this week, six on the next episode,
I just want to ask you some general questions. Sure,
how much does a star sign play into the fashion
choices that we make?

Speaker 3 (01:58):
Well, I think it does, But in actual fact, we're more.

Speaker 1 (02:01):
Likely to be projecting our rising sign than our sun sign.

Speaker 3 (02:06):
I mean, the sign sign.

Speaker 1 (02:07):
Represents our basic characters, so sure that plays into it.
But the rising sign is more about how other people
perceive us.

Speaker 3 (02:14):
It's like the cope that we wear. So for example, you're.

Speaker 1 (02:17):
More likely to guess someone's rising sign than you are
this sun sign because it's more.

Speaker 2 (02:23):
From what they're wearing.

Speaker 1 (02:24):
Yeah, from what they're wearing how they project themselves so much.

Speaker 2 (02:28):
Wait, you're getting too far ahead already for me. So
the sun sign is your main one. So you're born
between this and this, you're that you're a virgo. Is
that your sun sign, your main kind of label.

Speaker 1 (02:38):
Yes, So when someone says what's your sign, they're usually
referring to your sun sign. That refers to your birthday.
So there's the day in the month that you were born.
But the rising sign is really time sensitive. So the
rising sign actually, in technical terms, is the sign that's
rising on the eastern horizon at your exact time of birth.

Speaker 2 (02:57):
Wow, So that's more likely or that, I guess if
you're into this world, influences how you project outwards and
how people perceive you exactly.

Speaker 1 (03:06):
It's also, I mean, there's a lot more to it
than that. It's a sensitive point in the chart. So
when that's triggered by another transiting like planet in the
sky if you like, then that can have implications in
our life. It's particularly sensitive to our body and our
health as well and our relationships.

Speaker 2 (03:24):
Yeah, okay, well I need I've had my very detailed
chart done once I've got to dig it out and
find my rising. But for now, I want to jump
into each star sign as they appear on the calendar.
Is an astrological calendar, I have no idea, but I
know that we start with me Aries because I've read
that and Aries is the least evolved of the star signs.

(03:46):
So we'll go in order, and I'd love for you
to tell me, well, I'll ask for each one, but
i'd love you to tell me kind of a little
kind of typical characteristics of that sign in general, and
then we'll talk a bit of fashion. So we'll start
with Aries. What's a typical Aries kind of known for I'd.

Speaker 1 (04:03):
Say that Aries is a fire sign. So they're fiery,
they're enthusiastic, they can tend to rush into things.

Speaker 3 (04:13):
They often kind of give their.

Speaker 1 (04:15):
Heart away on a silver platter a lot too quickly
in a relationship if they're dating. So that's something for
areas to be my flop.

Speaker 2 (04:23):
Okay, yep, I can relate to a lot of that
interesting that you said impulsive or a word around that,
because for me, impulsive being in areas and shopping two
very close things.

Speaker 3 (04:36):
Yeah, buyers regret to synonymous with areas.

Speaker 2 (04:39):
Yeah, I call it retail therapy. But I just tell
myself it's therapy before I can have time to regret it.
So talk to me about, you know, dressing as an areas.
If you've seen any sort of common threads between the
areas that you observe and the way they put themselves
out into the world.

Speaker 3 (04:54):
Well, it's interesting that you said that they're the least evolved.

Speaker 1 (04:58):
I wouldn't sort of put it into those words, but
I would say that they're the first sign of the zodiac,
and this is why they've got that sort of wide eyed,
childlike enthusiasm. So being the first sign, they're often trend setters.
You know, they like to set their own trends, they
don't necessarily follow them, and they kind of go for

(05:19):
daring looks, and they do love the latest, newest collections
and trends. Given that they're the first sign of the zodiac,
you know, first in best dressed and all that, and
they're pretty confident, So they're confident about their own fashion
choices and they tend to have.

Speaker 3 (05:34):
Their own strong signature style. They love a bold accessory
and probably more.

Speaker 1 (05:43):
Into casual fashion hoodies, we're talking street wear, maybe designer
jeans and runners with a bit of bling racer back tops,
but no fiddly clasps or buttons because they get super
frustrated with that.

Speaker 3 (05:57):
You know, it takes too much time to do us.

Speaker 2 (05:59):
It's so funny you say that, because obviously I can
only relate to one of these signs being in areas.
But I just bought some really cool sneakers, like honestly tigers,
but they all slip on no lass because I don't.
I'm so impatient. I refuse to sit down in winter
and do laces up. So that is me to a
t That's hilarious.

Speaker 3 (06:14):
That's perfect.

Speaker 1 (06:15):
And an area's color I think, you know, knowing the
color of your sign can be just something really simple
to remember and that might resonate.

Speaker 3 (06:23):
So that air's color is red and deep red.

Speaker 2 (06:27):
Oh yes, and it's everywhere that kind of wine merl
oh burgundy at the moment, that's very everywhere it is.

Speaker 3 (06:33):
Yeah, I love it. That's beautiful Bordeaux color.

Speaker 2 (06:35):
Yeah, losing that right now, Heaven. All right, let's move
on to the next one. Taurus. So what are some
typical characteristics of a Turrean?

Speaker 1 (06:43):
Taurians are They're an Earth sign, so they're super practical
they're organized. They're kind of slow and dependable, so very
much the opposite to aries who rush into things. A
Taurus is going to think everything through. I'm thinking of
relationships right now. Taurus is not going to kind of
jump in there.

Speaker 3 (07:04):
Yeah. So I think that's a typical Taurus.

Speaker 1 (07:06):
Slow, dependable, very loyal, very loving, and very affectionate.

Speaker 2 (07:10):
Yes, of the Taurians, I know. I think loyal is
like the first word that comes to my head. Yeah,
all right, So talk to me about their sort of fashion,
you know, yes, ethos that die. Yeah, Like, what have
you come across with Tureans and how they present physically
with what they wear.

Speaker 1 (07:27):
Okay, so the colors for Taurus are pink and green,
that beautiful lush green. Given they're an Earth sign, they
are sensible with their style and fashion choices, sensible with
the capital hairs, so they'll go for practical items that
are maybe machine washable that they can get lots of
wear out of. They prefer comfortable clothing, especially in footwear,

(07:51):
so no restrictive body colm dresses or sky high stilettos,
that sort of thing. But they are still ruled by Venus,
you know, the planet of gorgeousness, and so they do
prefer quality over quantity. Gorgeous quality fabrics and really less
is more defines Taurus's ascetic. No busy patterns, and I think,

(08:15):
you know, being so organized. They love like the walking
wardrobe and it'll be all color coordinating.

Speaker 2 (08:23):
Yeah, it's so organized. It's not a chaos with everything
on the floor like mine.

Speaker 1 (08:26):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (08:27):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (08:28):
So dressing for them, though, is a real sensory experience.
So how garment feels against their skin.

Speaker 3 (08:34):
Is really important.

Speaker 1 (08:36):
And they love like a simple, well tailored, understated, beautiful
ascetic and I prefer in terms of color, subdued, earthy tones.

Speaker 2 (08:46):
Yeah, it's weird that everything you described and I felt
like all my stylish friends in Melbourne. I was like,
I wonder if they're Tourine. I've got to text them,
but yes.

Speaker 3 (08:53):
They're going that's me.

Speaker 2 (08:54):
Yeah exactly. Okay, So Jem and I I want to
talk about the typical characteristics of this sign now because
I don't know too much, but I just know there's
two sides or two faces or I've heard bad things
about Gemini. What are they generally like?

Speaker 3 (09:17):
It's a really misunderstood sign.

Speaker 1 (09:19):
So Gemini is symbolized by the twins and the mythology
around this the twins.

Speaker 3 (09:26):
Castor and pollocks, who were so devoted.

Speaker 1 (09:28):
To each other, the mortal twin passed away and the
immortal one was honored in the constellation to be with
his twin brother.

Speaker 2 (09:36):
Ah, there you go.

Speaker 3 (09:37):
Yeah, it's a beautiful story.

Speaker 1 (09:40):
So the symbolism here is the duality and how well
the duality works together. So sure Gemini might experience, you know,
have two different jobs in their lifetime. They might be
even torn between two different loves or have two major
love affairs in their life, but it's not necessarily two faced. Okay,

(10:04):
that is a bit of a misconception there. Okay, So
they're really good at juggling things and multi t asking.
They're also ruled by Mercury, the planet of communication, so
they are the master communicators of the Zodiac. They're often
found in broadcasting, radio, TV.

Speaker 3 (10:19):
They're super clever.

Speaker 2 (10:20):
Wow, and what what are they? Fire? Earth, water, wind?
Hang on? Was that captain planet? You know what I mean?
Which one?

Speaker 1 (10:28):
So Gemini's are an air sign. So air signs tend
to be very cerebral. They function on a mental level.
So if you want to get to a Gemini's heart,
you've got to do it through their mind.

Speaker 2 (10:40):
Oh my gosh. So they're quite logical, like not really
ruled by their heart.

Speaker 3 (10:45):
They can be.

Speaker 1 (10:46):
They can come off as a bit cold and flighty.
They don't like to be pinned down either.

Speaker 2 (10:51):
Interesting.

Speaker 3 (10:52):
So, yeah, I'm a Gemini, just saying.

Speaker 2 (10:55):
You are well? Can you tell I was like my husband,
my brother man? Yep?

Speaker 1 (10:58):
That gay?

Speaker 3 (10:58):
Yeah yeah.

Speaker 2 (10:59):
Talk to me about Gemini's fashion choices. What are we
seeing there?

Speaker 3 (11:02):
All right?

Speaker 1 (11:03):
So colors for a Gemini yellow and orange, super playful,
color full and bit adventurous with their fashion choices. They
don't take fashion too seriously. They like to experiment with
different looks and labels, you know, from everything from high
end to grunge cheek. They get bored with the same look,

(11:26):
so they do tend to kind of chop and change.
You can never kind of figure out a Gemini style really,
and they tend to dress more youthful than the years.
They're known as the peter Pan of the zodiac. This
sense of curiosity about them, and that extends into their
fashion choices. I think they love flirty frills and ruffles

(11:48):
sometimes provided their flattering and of course you know, we
have to go there.

Speaker 3 (11:53):
They do love a twin set.

Speaker 2 (11:54):
I was gonna ask. I was like, you know, does
everything need to be symmetrical? You know, like do they
not like you know, well, I don't like strangeems, you know,
when it's asymmetrical hems. But when we were saying the
kind of the twin thing, I was like, I wonder
if their symmetry is important to them.

Speaker 3 (12:08):
Well, it's interesting you should say that.

Speaker 1 (12:09):
I think that's more a liberum thing, because liberate is
the sign of the scale, so asymmetry throws.

Speaker 3 (12:14):
Them right off.

Speaker 2 (12:15):
Okay, we're going to get to that.

Speaker 3 (12:17):
Okay, Gemini.

Speaker 1 (12:18):
Gemini is a bit of a chameleon. So Geminis do
love things like the dress.

Speaker 3 (12:24):
That you can wear as a halter but also converts
to a strap list.

Speaker 2 (12:28):
Yes, yeah, and that goes back to them getting a
bit bored and wanting to change it up. But it's
that's a clever thing to buy if it's you versatile exactly. Wow,
this is so fascinating. All right, cancer, tell me about cancer.
What's typical for them? I think of homebodies that are
really they've got big hearts and they'll be quiet. I
don't know if that's true, but what's typical of a cancer.

Speaker 3 (12:47):
That's absolutely spot on.

Speaker 1 (12:49):
So cancer is the sign of the divine, feminine, the mother,
and it shows in our charts because we all have
we all have all zodiac signs.

Speaker 3 (13:00):
Yeah, charts, by the way.

Speaker 1 (13:02):
So cancer is about how we give and receive nurturing.
It's a very emotional sign. They are ruled by the moon,
so they're highly attuned to the moon's phases. So when
there's a full moon, a cancerrian will always feel it
in their waters.

Speaker 2 (13:19):
Thank you for making so much of my life makes sense.
That's so interesting. You know how they are, you know,
stereotypically quite you know, soften emotions and yeah, do they
have a toughness to them or you know, is there
a actually they do?

Speaker 1 (13:31):
Because there's still a cardinal sign. So you know, I'm
talking a lot about the fire, earth, air, and water signs.
But there's another side to every zodiac sign that is
called their modality. So every zodiac sign will either belong
to the cardinal fixed or mutable groups and that also
it just influences the qualities, the personalities, the characteristics of

(13:55):
that sign.

Speaker 3 (13:56):
So cancer is a cardinal sign.

Speaker 1 (13:58):
So despite its softness and its nurturing qualities and its compassion.
It actually has a bit of grit to it. Cancerrians
have an inner strength. The thing with cancerrians is they
don't really project that on the outside, but it's there.

Speaker 2 (14:13):
So don't like a quiet, confident yes, yes, so much fun.
All right, talk to me about cancer and clothes. What
have you got for me for that sign?

Speaker 3 (14:23):
Okay?

Speaker 1 (14:24):
So of course the colors are going to be white
and silvery like the moon.

Speaker 3 (14:29):
Their fashion sense reflects their.

Speaker 1 (14:31):
Mood and emotions, so you know, if they're feeling a
bit down in the dumps, they might want to just
hang out in their.

Speaker 2 (14:38):
Tracking That's what I had in my head for cancer. Sorry,
I just I was like their homebody. So they only
wear track sits. You know how narrow is that? But
I did wonder if it's that literal.

Speaker 1 (14:47):
Sometimes look absolutely and sometimes astrology can really be that literal.
So yes, and I did forget to say, but you
said it yourself so beautifully. They are the domestic goddesses
of the zodiac. They love their home and families, everything
to cancers, so okay, So back to their mood their emotions.
You know, they're kind of maybe feeling a bit down

(15:09):
in the trackies and just want that sort of comfort,
comfortable clothes, But then they can glam up quite beautifully
as well. I think using color to balance their mood
is a really great idea for cancers, particularly if they're
looking to.

Speaker 3 (15:23):
Balance their charkras.

Speaker 1 (15:24):
You know, they might go for a deep red to
balance their base charkra, which is all about money and security.

Speaker 3 (15:31):
If they're wanting to heal their heart, green can be
beautiful for them to use.

Speaker 1 (15:37):
But they have got a shy, conservative personality, so they
tend to play it safe with their fashion choices.

Speaker 3 (15:43):
And although they.

Speaker 1 (15:44):
Have that inner grit and strength, they are also prone
to insecurities, so they tend to dress to conceal their perceived.

Speaker 2 (15:53):
Flaws, right, So a little bit on the safe side, Yeah.

Speaker 1 (15:57):
Exactly, and they have to be feeling confident in their
own skin to wear anything daring.

Speaker 2 (16:02):
Okay, she's a little.

Speaker 3 (16:03):
Bit out of character.

Speaker 1 (16:04):
So they tend to go for the classics, you know,
romantic pretty styles. It's like polished pencil skirts, yes, slowey.

Speaker 2 (16:11):
Maxi's yeah, and maybe like a classic trench like something
that's kind of yes, absolutely, it doesn't say too much,
you know, although.

Speaker 1 (16:20):
It's Cancerian's a little bit more romantic. So yeah, something
with a little bit more prettiness.

Speaker 2 (16:26):
I know exactly what you mean. It's kind of a
feminine edge.

Speaker 1 (16:29):
Yeah, feminine edge but still conservative, you know, the sweetheart
neckline instead of the plunging neckline.

Speaker 2 (16:36):
Yes, yeah, this is great. Oh my god, I'm having
so much one Leo talk to me about about Leo
the Lion.

Speaker 3 (16:50):
Oh, I love my Leos. Okay, So Leo's are so fabulous.

Speaker 1 (16:56):
They are.

Speaker 3 (16:57):
You know, they're very out there.

Speaker 1 (16:59):
They command attention, although there are the shy type of
Leo's as well. Because Leo's theme in their life is confident.
But it may be that they have to do develop
that confidence in life. They're not necessarily always.

Speaker 3 (17:13):
Born with it.

Speaker 2 (17:14):
That's really important.

Speaker 1 (17:16):
Another mister understood signs. Yes, but yes they are fabulous.

Speaker 2 (17:20):
Are they a fire sign as well? There are there
a fire sign?

Speaker 3 (17:23):
Yeah? So beautiful with aries and sagittariums.

Speaker 2 (17:27):
Okay, so yeah, I think line, I think not scary,
but yeah, I think the typical stuff that we were
just saying. Then you said that they misunderstood that they're
not always born with that confidence. So, you know, typically
when we come across someone that's a Leo, But we
don't really know. You know that it's more complex than
just that kind of one liner, isn't it.

Speaker 3 (17:47):
It really is.

Speaker 1 (17:48):
I mean, and horoscopes and star signs have you know,
definitely attracted stereotypical interpretations. Yes, when you look further into it,
you understand the nuance.

Speaker 3 (18:02):
Okay, and that's that's my job.

Speaker 1 (18:04):
But another interesting thing about leo is that it is
the sign of creativity and children. When you think about it,
creating children is the ultimate creative thing.

Speaker 3 (18:17):
Is this a creation from yes? From above?

Speaker 2 (18:20):
Yeah, that's so cool. All right, Leo? What are they wearing?
What do you see them wearing? What don't they like wearing?

Speaker 1 (18:27):
So their color, of course is gold, gold, gold gold.
For beautiful leos, they can turn a casual dress code
into glamour. They are the royal sign, so they tend
to look aristocratic, even on a shoe string budget. They
generally do love dressing up and attracting attention with their

(18:47):
fashion choices. But as I mentioned before, those shy leos
they may not be prone to doing that on purpose.

Speaker 3 (18:54):
But they always still make an impression or an entrance.
It might be their.

Speaker 1 (18:59):
Natural mane of gorgeous hair or just the way they
kind of struck into the room. They can't help but
attract attention. And they do have a flafford drama, so
they do love a statement piece of jewelry, maybe a
sparkly hair accessory.

Speaker 3 (19:15):
The more blowing the better.

Speaker 1 (19:17):
And they're again like the Arees, they're not afraid to
set the trends.

Speaker 3 (19:22):
They're leaders rather than being followers.

Speaker 2 (19:24):
Okay, oh my gosh, this is so much fun to
listen to you and filter through your friends and your
family and think, yes, oh my gosh. Yeah, all right,
we're going to do Virgo now. But then I'm going
to ask you to come back for part two because
there's just so much to get into. But let's finish these,
not top six, the first six with a Virgo. What
is a Virgo all about? In general? When it comes
to that sign?

Speaker 1 (19:45):
Yeah, I mean I do. My heart goes out to Virgos.
I have a lot of respect for Virgos because they
are so precise. They're hard working, another Earth sign, practical
down to Earth, and they have an amazing eye for detail.

Speaker 2 (20:01):
I was going to ask, when I think Virgo, I
think really well organized, beautiful looking wardrobe, but they clean
out regularly.

Speaker 1 (20:09):
Oh, yes, they hate I think you.

Speaker 3 (20:12):
Really do know you.

Speaker 2 (20:13):
I know my friends that I'm very invested in that
I try and sometimes make sense off through their star sign.
But yeah, is that kind of you know, Virgos has
thought to be sort of very love cleanliness and order.
Is that true?

Speaker 1 (20:24):
Yes, cleanliness is next to godliness in Virgo's eyes.

Speaker 3 (20:29):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (20:29):
So they hate anything kind of messy, disorganized, and they
are really into hygiene. So if you're dating a Virgo,
make sure you always smell clean.

Speaker 3 (20:42):
That's important.

Speaker 2 (20:42):
That's so funny, all right, So how does that translate
into I guess well, you can probably talk about the
bit of how organized their worldrobe is, but what about
what they wear?

Speaker 3 (20:51):
All right?

Speaker 1 (20:51):
So the colors that I'm going to pick for Rgo
would be a beautiful olive.

Speaker 3 (20:55):
Green and warm caramel.

Speaker 1 (20:59):
And as you said, Lee, they dress impeccably well, they're
always well turned out, but they're all about understated elegance,
lady life styles, those earthy tones, no loud shades, and
everything always works from the shoes, the bag, you know,

(21:21):
with the outfit, but not in a matchy, matchy way.

Speaker 3 (21:24):
They do it so elegantly.

Speaker 1 (21:26):
Yes, As I said before, they hate the mess so
no messy buns or thrown together looks.

Speaker 3 (21:32):
They're more clean cut, very polished.

Speaker 1 (21:35):
They have an eye for intricate detailing, so beautiful buttons,
silk pocket squares for the men. Yeah, but they can
be really fussy and really super self critical.

Speaker 2 (21:46):
That's what I was going to ask you, because you
started by saying my heart goes out to them, But
then when you just describe that, I was like, Oh,
that's my goals. I want to be that person. But
is it at the cost of you know, a lot
of labor behind the scenes. In general, From the outside
they look so organized, but you know, maybe that comes
with some sort of turmoil.

Speaker 1 (22:02):
It does because they are the quintessential perfectionist, and this
can you know, this can turn against them. So but
what I meant by having so much respect for them
is that there is such a perfectionist that they really
do everything so very well.

Speaker 3 (22:17):
They go to the nth degree. Near enough is not good.

Speaker 1 (22:20):
Enough for a virgo, and I kind of respect that, yes,
but at the same time, this perfectionism can really turn
against them. And if we're looking at things, you know,
through a fashion lens or through an asthetic lens. Then
they can spend a lot of time picking themselves apart
in the mirror and critiquing their flaws.

Speaker 3 (22:42):
Which is obviously not healthy. Yes, so love yourself, love
your flaws.

Speaker 2 (22:47):
If you're a virgo, you're a beautiful love yourself virgo,
well all of you, but particularly and maybe give some
extra love to the Virgos in your life if they
might be going through that. Tash. This is so fascinating.
We've got six more signs to go, so will you
come back for part two because I want to hear
about the rest of all of our friends and family.

Speaker 3 (23:04):
I would absolutely love too.
