Mas, hoje em dia, na verdade, o crítico nota que já pouco interessa aos portugueses a qualidade do arroz. “Os carolinos bons que faziam os malandrinhos de sonho deste país, das cabidelas às arrozadas de peixe e tomate, estão a desaparecer”, lamenta. Foram substituídos por “bagos insípidos ou asiáticos, como são os agulha, os basmati ou, horror dos horrores, os vaporizados”.
